Giuliani has left a St. Louis hospital after spending the night there.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Republican Rudy Giuliani was released from a St. Louis, Missouri hospital Thursday, and his spokeswoman said the former New York City mayor was given a clean bill of health.

"Doctors performed a series of precautionary tests and the results of all the tests were normal," Giuliani Communications Director Katie Levinson said. "The mayor is heading back to New York this afternoon and he continues to be in high spirits."

Giuliani was admitted to the hospital late Wednesday night after complaining of flu-like symptoms.

Flu-like symptoms or a severe headache do not require reversing a plane journey when it is almost reaching its destination NY. Rudy, you could have completed your flight to NY, NY and seen a doctor there you home state Rudy!!!

Watch the polls! You are loosing momentum and McCain is gaining momentum. Both will loose the nomination. Iraq hawks can not win the general election in 2008 against Hillary!!!

Go Hillary44 08! http://hillaryis44.org/

It wouldn't surprise me if Giuliani claimed his flu-like symptoms were caused by 911.

I'm relieved to hear it and to see the mayor in high spirits in this photo. I hope he continues to have a speedy recovery.

I think God is sending a message to Gouliani. First it was the lightning strike. Then it was the flu. The next curse will be Huckabee pardoning another rapist who will go after Gouliani's cornhole.

Good thing Sir Rudy got sick. Otherwise he wouldn't have his name in the ticker today.

Jason, Dallas, TX   December 20th, 2007 8:20 pm ET

He checked in to a hospital located at 911 911st St. His flu like symptoms were brought on by the dirt in the air after the attacks on 9/11, and he got his flu shot last year on 9/11, but he forgot to get on this year on 9/11. So as a result, he checked in to hospital to make sure he's healthy enough to see 9/11 next year.

His insurance co-pay covered everything except for $9.11, which Mr. Giullani paid out of his own pocket.

Wait…Giullani was there in NYC on 9/11, right? I ask because I don't think he's made that clear yet.

I had flu-like symptoms 5 weeks ago and I did not need to go to the hospital. Giuliani is a wimp.

Dave E., Twin Falls, ID   December 20th, 2007 6:41 pm ET

I'm not a Rudy supporter, but I am glad he's okay. I'd hate to miss seeing his expression when my candidate shocks the mainstream media and the rest of the establishment and beats him in the primaries & caucuses. :)

Giuliani is stressed out, that affects his bodily immune system, with the state and national polls showing that he is in a downward spiral. He may be history in January.

Lev Klinemann, Redondo Beach CA   December 20th, 2007 5:54 pm ET

I hope Giuliani's OK, but that still doesn't mean I want his as my president.

Ivan, Chicago, Illinois   December 20th, 2007 5:49 pm ET

What a wimp, millions of Americans even those with insurance don't run to the hospital as fast as Giuliani ran.
It's people like him who drive up health costs and the first sign of not feeling well. If every time someone felt under the weather and they ran to their doctors or the hosiptal, then the lines outside Doctor's offices and Hospitals would be miles long.

Captain Crab, IA   December 20th, 2007 5:27 pm ET

I've had flu like symptoms for a couple of days now. But I didn't go to the hospital (can't afford it for one) to have a series a tests done to find I'm OK.

Surrealist, Fort Myers, FL   December 20th, 2007 4:21 pm ET

Man–I hope his security team is looking at these photos!! This camera view could have easily been from a sniper rifle sight!!!

ben   December 20th, 2007 4:18 pm ET

so cnn you could not get a better picture than this?

Brad, Stockton, CA   December 20th, 2007 4:17 pm ET

A clean bill of health? Apparently the hospital failed to perform a mental or psychiatric evaluation.

Bill Kalles, Moses Lake, WA   December 20th, 2007 4:16 pm ET

And once again, no mention of how many Ron Paul supporters were there to waves signs and greet him.

Ghouliani has been facing increasing numbers of Ron Paul fans everywhere he goes. I'm not saying it's his fault. I'm saying he should take it as an object lesson on what "blowback" is.

KEITH JAMES LOUTTIT   December 20th, 2007 4:14 pm ET

Dang, you got to stop shaking all them strangers' hands Rudy, might be some germanic or viralistic passengers there.

One more thing, STOP KISSING THEM BABES!

Connie, Louisville, Tn.   December 20th, 2007 4:11 pm ET

Guess they didn't do a brain scan before they gave him a clean bill of health.
