OMG this has GOT to be a plant from the press for Bush. Clearly he is the most hated and berated president ever. Lets get Hillary in office and have Bill there to advise her. Our country needs a major boost we are in trouble and all feel pretty disgusted.

I'm sickened by this news tidbit.

It looks like the only thing losing value faster than the American dollar is the value placed one's admiration. It has been given very cheaply this go around.

This is ridiculous. Bush is known as the goofy guy with a shoulder laugh who can't get his words out clearly. He is NOT the most admired man. Do you know why he won this poll?? Because the other choices in the poll aren't a landslide of a choice either. Throw "The Rock" and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning on that list and George Bush wouldn't rank so well. When you compare him with Clinton the thought crosses my mind "OK, Clinton had his turn...he WAS the most admired man..but most admired NOW?..noo...I couldn't pick Clinton...Then I have the choices of Obama, Huckabee and others who HOPE to be the most admired man in the FUTURE..and nooo..I couldn't pick them either because they're still just pups in training. So you're left with the only feasible choice...the goofy guy with a shoulder laugh who can't get his words out clearly. Making this obviously a silly poll. Read more from me @ TheLegalHustle

The crude, vicious, hateful -- and pathetically illiterate-- invective against the President of the United States displayed in so many of these posts proves to me that most CNN viewers have been thoroughly conditioned by left-wing influences, e.g., CNN itself, slanted network news, conspiracy websites, paranoid blogs, late night parodies, Michael Moore films, etc. As one preeminent pundit puts it, they have been "drinking the Kool-Aid."

Unfortunately for them, as before, it will prove to be politically and historically fatal.

"Both these President are admired for difference reason. President Clinton is still the best President".

From your very small, limited point of view it is understandable one could come to that conclusion. However, do not presume that your present view will survive the critical eye and perspective of history. Dare say, should Iraq become that democracy in the Middle East, Bush's legacy will be one of significant accomplishement. Clinton, on the other hand, WILL fade to mediocrity. Afterall, what significant accomplishment is attributed to Clinton. What did Clinton do that took courage, foresight, vision, conviction and absolute resolve against waning public opinion. Answer: NOTHING. Decades from now, no one will give a hoot about what the stocks did, not what the inflation and employment numbers were.

"Just goes to show the intelligence level of a liberal versus a conservative, as conservatives are proven statistically to be more educated than liberals."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Where's the proof? Did this come from FOX News? In one of the most ridiculous examples ever of rationalization, Bush supporters put out a map of the U. S. showing red versus blue by county to try to come up with an excuse why Bush lost the popular vote to Gore. The map indicated that Bush got rural support and Gore won urban support. It is reasonable to think that there would be more doctors, educators, and rocket scientists in urban areas.

The counter-example is that Republicans voted Bush in TWICE! Some people just can't learn from their mistakes. Just like Bush.

I don't know a single person who admires Bush. Where are these people? Was the Fox News network people the only ones who were allowed to respond to the poll??

If people here admire Bush more than Billy Graham, something is wrong.

I do admire Clinton. The economy was so much better under his watch. Bush is a lier, a cheater, a murderer and stupid.

Reading the RESPONSES to this article, EVERYONE can plainly see that 99% are in total DISAGREEMENT with this seriously messed up Poll, while ONLY 1% agree with this. It's no wonder people can't trust Polls, the Media or the government.

To all you Bill Clinton haters: He was not the only president to have an affair while in office. In fact, I would venture to guess that the presidents who did not have affairs are more the exception instead of the rule.

You just hate Clinton for your own twisted reasons and nothing will cure you of it. I don't hate Bush, I just think he the most incompetent man that has held that office. He has been a terrible president and absolute disaster to world diplomacy. Hating someone takes too much time and energy and Bush does not deserve that from me.

Bush the most admired with 10%, I almost choked when I saw this, admired by who the RNC, corporate heads that owe profits to his inept administration, most certainly not the vast majority of Americans.

So much for any credabilty Gallup may have had.

I agreee. Furthermore, Ryan, Clinton will fade into mediocrity. What did the man do that took vision, conviction and courage? NOTHING!!!

Admire = Esteem, Respect, Appreciate

This poll will definitely make all suspect to poll creedence!

Who in their right mind could ever hold esteem or respect for George W.???
And how could anyone in their right mind ever feel appreciation for this twit???? Who did they poll? Would be my first question.

Looking at the Full poll results [PDF]. notice at the top of the CNN article!)

Bush Standings are: Dec 2007 is 10% Dec 2006 is 13% Dec 2005 19% Dec 2004 23% Dec 2003 29% Dec 2002 28% Dec 2001 39% Dec 2000 5% Dec 1999 1%

Notice after 9/11 in 2001 Bush had a meteoric RISE in popularity in December 2001, but he wasted it on his neo-con plan to pre-emptively attack Iraq. His political capital has seen a steady decline since with the fortunes of the Iraq war. With end of Bush's Presidency the percentage is bound to drop even further. After all he is not Clinton who can make a comeback from Crawford ranch cutting wood!!

Go Hillary44 08! http://hillaryis44.org/

I find it amusing that most of the comments disrespecting President Bush include many typographical errors and misspelled words. Just goes to show the intelligence level of a liberal versus a conservative, as conservatives are proven statistically to be more educated than liberals. Regardless, I say go Ron Paul 2008!

Do we have to tell the whole world how much we are dragging the bottom of the barrel and how stupid this country is for voting Bush in twice!!!!! The only thing Bush should be admired for in is if in his last year is if he sat quietly in a little room and didn't screw up the USA and the world any worse than he has.

POLLS mean nothing I think this proves it no hands down.

There is no real measure who is the top canidate of the leading 3. Wont know till primarie.

I never been called for a poll? Have you? Who are they polling??? I think they go outside and ask the bums sitting in the alley. Or the people that live under rocks and dont pay attention to news. The same people that get polled probably dont know what Iraq is or 911.

Polls are as accurate as weathermen predicting wearther in the spring.

The current issue of Newsweek has an article by Sally Smith, a Clinton biographer. She wrote that "People were scared of her", said a Clinton aide. "You did not cross Hillary."

"Bill had to cede Hillary (political) power as a trade-off for his history of infidelity."

Is this how Hillary got her experience at the White House, while Bill continuously paid her off for each infidelity? We, the voters, entrusted him with this power.

Although they seem perfectly happy with the deal, isn't it very irresponsible for any president to throw away his political power like this? Perhaps Bill really meant it, when he called her a world class genius (for power).

Bill claimed that it was the Republicans' fault that Hillary's health care reform had failed. (albeit it was a Dem president and Dem Congress.) It turned out the failed health reform was the result of another trade-off from his infidelity between him and Hillary. Is this a joke on a bad day? We are talking about the welfare of American people here. This reckless couple thinks we are only some kind of game pieces on the table. No doubt Hillary is running to win, not to serve. She wants to be the first female president by all means, or to get even with Bill for his infidelity.

Somehow I feel sick to my stomach.
Now I do 'admire' Bill and Hillary for fooling us for so long, but I will vote for "Anybody but Hillary" from this day on. She is better off seeking mental health care than playing games on the American people.

We need a leader with healthy mental capacity. This Newsweek article is a sad read.

Notice after 9/11 Bush had a meteoric RISE in popularity but he wasted it on his neo-con plan to pre-emptively attack Iraq. With end of Bush's Presidency the percentage is bound to drop even further. After all he is not Clinton who can make a comeback from Crawford ranch cutting wood!!

Just like the TIME Person of the Year, FORTUNE 500, INC 500 Could you please publish the process by which Gallup's Poll conducted its poll? Thanks a lot.

Clinton did so much more good for America, both nationally and internationally except he had a problem with skirt chasing I admit. Who in their right minds can say the same thing about Dubya Bush Jr.? In retrospect Bush Jr. gave NO-BID contracts by the BILLIONS to HALLIBURTON and others in this Iraq war!! Bush Jr. & Chenney are thievs.

Perhaps this poll gave an opportunity to those that won't publicly endorse President G.W. Bush, because the Bush bashing wave is too loud.

The 2007 Nobel Literature winner, Doris Lessing wondered if President Bush might be very clever.

Some very notable comments are worthy:

GH, New York, ny: "Based on the pecentages, Hillary Clinton is the Most Admired PERSON of the Year!"

Ex-Repulican writes: "I really enjoyed reading these comments! Yes, this result is ABSURD because George W. Bush
will be in the books as one of the WORST presidents in the history of this country.
He's in league with Dick Nixon at least. But, let's recall that the results of this 'poll' are deeply flawed.
First, Nelson Mandela is not 'in our nation', he's in South Africa! Secondly, 10% is a very small fraction
so the result tells me that nobody is really admired. Thirdly, there will always be a statistical 'tail' of peoples' opinions,
so that I wouldn't be surprised to learn that at least 10% of Germans 'admired' Hitler if you'd taken a poll in 1946!!!
So, don't fret, we will see when the historians of the future will make clear the crimes of GWB, he is lost,
and so are the Republicans he dragged down with him."

R. Engels, Tucson, Arizona says "Bush lied to the people, his country and the world to create his energy "footprint in Iraq"; the great divider,
mentally deficient president will go down as the bottom rung of Presidents. Never have so few destroyed so much
and we have another year of his arrogance. If he is the most admired man in America, this country deserves
what it gets.

Walt from Belton, TX writes "How can you compare a man with no morals, Clinton,
with a man of extremely high morals, Bush Jr.?"

Bush Jr. is a spoiled rich kid–who was born again
and somehow became President, in spite of the fact he is inarticulate, uncharismatic, and a foreign/economic policy
blunderer. His legacy as Presidential role model will be the example to avoid.

Andy, Evansville, IN says "Imagine now, if Iraq becomes another democratic Islamic nation down the road,
well, like Turkey... keep dreaming!!

EKK says "BUSH represents greed, power, manipulation and complete disregard for your fellow neighbor.
I'm not religious, but GOD help us!"

Bush Jr. & Chenney are thiefs.

You know, it's not surprising that after 8 years, America's lack of conscience and level of moral depravity have sunken to such depths that former President Clinton is now marked with such honor. Nevermind that he left a legacy littered with sexual inuendo and misconduct among other things...this seems to be the sort of man that some in America want to admire because it most closely resembles the vast majority of who America has become.

Not sure what this has to do with the election. Bill Clinton and his insistence that we put him back in the White House because of the experience Senator Clinton gained during his tenure is a red herring. The Bush-Clinton era of partisan warfare is over. Its been disproven time and again. For the first time, we have an intelligent, able, inspired, and inspiring alternative - Senator Barack Obama. Obama in '08.

ohhh.. here is an idea for all of the democrats/liberals that think republicans are so bad and evil: why dont all of you sign a pact, much the same as alec baldwin, saying that you will leave the USA if a conservative wins the election. what a grand nation this would be if that happened.

So John, who would you like to leave next? All the supporters of the Third Parties? Say and if the pact doesn't work, there's always forced relocation, or how about you build factories and exterminate all non Republicans. And the comparisons to Hitler's Germany keep piling up.

John in San Diego:
I'm with you...this country would be a far more pleasant place with them and their blind hatred of all things Republican gone, spreading their vile hatred elsewhere.

Marge in Hibbing MN:
I'm a high school teacher with a PHD, educating our future voters and keeping my opinions to myself so as not to influence their future decisions. And, guess what? I'm also one of those "dregs of humanity" you so 'eloquently' speak of...I admire President Bush, as I have all of our presidents, and will continue to support any of our presidents, regardless of political party, because as a citizen, that what I should do regardless of my own personal opinion. If you don't like who's in office, exercise your right to change it, participate in positive way. If your candidate loses, lose gracefully. Don't let your hatred consume you, it makes you very ugly, even on paper!
