Paul is up with a new ad in New Hampshire.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Republican Ron Paul launched a new ad in Iowa and New Hampshire Wednesday that highlights the Texas congressman's biography.

"Answering our country’s call, Ron Paul became a flight surgeon in the Air Force," the narrator states in the 30-second spot, titled 'Defender of Freedom.' "As a doctor, Ron Paul delivered over 4,000 babies and is a leading defender of life. In Congress, Ron Paul never voted to raise taxes, never voted for an unbalanced budget, never voted to restrict gun rights or raise congressional pay."

The ad comes a week before Iowa holds its first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, and roughly two weeks before New Hampshire voters head to the polls for the first primary of the 2008 campaign. The Texas congressman — whose libertarian message seems well-tailored for the Granite State – is registering single-digit support in most recent polls of GOP primary voters.

Our nation is headed in the wrong direction. We started off with principles of limited government, individual responsibility and individual respect. George Washington said, upon leaving office to "stay out of entangling alliances." He knew what he was talking about. The Constitution says only gold and silver shall be legal tender, those guys knew what they were talking about.

In today's context they would be called "radicals," "fools." Sure, the MSM will never say George Washington is an idiot, or Thomas Jefferson is a quack, they'll say "Ron Paul can't win, he is fringe." Revive Jefferson today and he would say the FBI, Fed, Iraq War, Income Tax, Department of Education, Homeland Security, CIA, NSA, Energy, are all ABOMINATIONS.

Our government is an ABOMINATION. Our children will see worse days then we are seeing, even if Ron Paul is elected. However, Fox, CNN, Bush, the whole rotten Congress, and the whole rotten Bureaucracy tramples on our founders' ideals, and on our founding principles day in and day out.

At least Ron Paul has backbone and adheres to this nation's original sound principles. He criticizes Lincoln, and you know what, that takes more backbone the entire White House put together. He criticizes Wilson, he is principled to the core, and mark my words, a man like this only gets close to the top once in a lifetime, nay once in ten lifetimes. Vote for him, support him, because after him its downhill for America.

CharityAngel   December 29th, 2007 5:51 pm ET

I have only begun to fight! There is more at stake here then just a popularity contest. We are talking about the future of our nation, our economic crisis, our children's future, and so much more.

I am voting for Ron Paul because he is the only candidate with a solid record that is supportive of the US Constitution. The Constitution gives the PEOPLE their rights, and to choose anyone else means that we agree to this insanity that has happened the last few decades of having OUR freedoms stripped.

It is OUR responsibility to ensure liberty for ourselves and those that come after us. I do not mind fighting this fight, but my goal is to liberate my children. Enough is enough!

James   December 29th, 2007 12:32 pm ET

There's a lot of people who like to bash Ron Paul, yet they offer no alternative that has a better solution on any platform. If he's not a viable candidate, them why bother coming here at all to simply call him a "Kook"? Is is because he can beat your candidate on every position? Is it because he speaks the truth? Because he actually answers the questions? Because he actually READS books and reports? Why are you afraid of Ron Paul?

Darrell   December 29th, 2007 12:29 pm ET

Dear People,

Our country is about a foot away from a dollar collapse of historical proportions. So many people in this country just want to stick their heads in the sand like an ostrich and not face hard facts.

Wake up AMERICA!!!!!!!

Another election, another 'band-aid' presidential pool who all want to put another band-aid on our massively broken economic system.

Ron Paul is our last hope before the world toilet flushes the USA down the spout. You people can't see the light and/or have no courage.

I am flat out disgusted.

Mr. Lore   December 29th, 2007 5:03 am ET

For the record, I am a 52 year old male with a Masters Degree. I fully support Ron Paul because he is the only intelligent choice. His difficulty is that he not only has to win the hearts of the people but he has to overcome the mainstream press who simply refuses to print the whole untainted truth. Why? Who rules the press? It becomes so glaringly obvious each day that the big money machine does not want the Ron Paul message to get out.

kyle   December 29th, 2007 4:37 am ET

exactly what America needs. no more welfare state, no more bought and sold, disgusting lying politicians. no more policing the world. peace, freedom, and prosperity! RESTORE THE REPUBLIC! RON PAUL 2008!

Gene   December 28th, 2007 11:38 pm ET

Ron Paul is the last, great hope for America… I cringe to think of what lies ahead if Americans don't wake up and take back our country. Ron Paul is the only candidate who can do this. The rest are all given to us by the same powerbrokers. It's time to break free. "Give me Ron Paul, or give me death".

Christopher Wilson   December 28th, 2007 9:33 pm ET

The War in Iraq and Radical Islamic Terrorism are two entirely different creatures. Our men and women in uniform were sent to Iraq under the false pretenses that Hussein controlled weapons of mass destruction and was an eminent threat to America. Hussein and Bin Laden were not allies, and statistics show there are more terrorists in Iraq today than prior to our occupation.

Ron Paul recognizes that you cannot fight small terrorist cells by engaging in a national police action, patrolling streets and rebuilding another nation’s infrastructure when we have our own problems in the homeland. Terrorists must be fought using elite special-forces and tactics, not by attempting to serve as the planet’s global police force. Our nation simply cannot afford such an endeavor.

I support Ron Paul because he is a humble man of reason and logic. He believes in a strong national defense based on the motto: "Walk softly and carry a big stick." I also like how he wants to depose the IRS.

Steve   December 28th, 2007 8:26 pm ET

This message is in response to Cat, from California.

He did nothing, and that's the point. We're all (hopefully) adults here. We can take care of ourselves. We don't need the government inefficiently taking care of us from cradle to grave. If you can't take care of yourself that is not the governments fault and/or problem. The biggest problem in this country is people refusing to take responsibility for their own actions. Ron Paul is the only person man enough to do something about it, regardless of whether it is popular to all the irresponsible people out there or not.

David Johnson   December 28th, 2007 7:25 pm ET

Lex L: Hillary & Giuliani are "radical?" Are you serious or just baiting those left of Francisco Franco? These two aren't even liberal, let alone radical. The US has no Left. If we did Hillary would be considered a Republican. We have Republican and Republican Lite. Fearing something that doesn't exist….sounds chillingly familiar.

Terence   December 28th, 2007 6:09 pm ET

I have seen a large increase in personal attacks against Ron Paul in the last week. 'Kook' and 'Racist Anti-Semite' are the favored themes. This is a good sign. His detractors are getting VERY nervous.

Go Ron Paul!
You got here just in time to save our Republic.
There is a lot of work to do!

Arthur   December 28th, 2007 6:02 pm ET

Its ashame to see such comments for the people who disapprove of Dr. Paul. Since really the only thing he has been preaching is the constitution, freedom and its fundamentals. I think the only real terrorists I have seen are those here at home who pass legislation authorizing warrantless searches, and continuously spy on its citizens. If the "terrorists" (to which any one can be one) really did hate our freedom I guess they did win because look how much the bill of rights has been suppressed since 911.~ Vote Ron Paul 08

Justin   December 28th, 2007 5:09 pm ET

I support Ron Paul as well. Hard to poll well when the greasy pollsters don't give you the option. So what? As long as you can vote for him, great! Screw the pollsters!

T Savage   December 28th, 2007 5:00 pm ET

I will vote in the Virginia primary on Feb. 12th for Dr. Paul and will vote for him again in November. This guy is gonna shock the current system!! Exactly what this nation needs, in my opinion. The power brokers/mongers will have no choice but to take notice when they see their gravy train starting to derail.

"So corporate he'd allow competition vs what the government has a monopoly on and lower the prices of forced federal services like SS and Medicare. "

is this the same 'competition' among healthcare providers that raises premiums 100% every seven years, as opposed to Medicare which rises 20% every seven years ?

you have a choice on Healthcare - low cost provision by an accountable mix of government working with providers, or the Ron Paul way - pay double your premiums every seven years to unaccountable private companies who can deny you coverage if you get sick . . .

& has Paul actually explained how HSA's saving accounts will keep up with this cost doubling every seven years ? no, i don't think he has.

the only thing Ron Paul is 'informed' about, is how to raise corporate profits at the expense of the gullible, who believe his very low voting attendance record and highest earmarking in Teaxs is a good thing . . .

Karl Schmidt   December 28th, 2007 1:37 pm ET

I'm supporting Ron Paul. 911 was the blow back of our immoral policy of supporting the Saudi king in exchange for oil. It has not anything to do with Arabs hating us for being successful. We gave this king everything he needed to suppress his people for decades in exchange for oil.

The Iraq war is not making us safer - instead there are 100's of thousands of Iraqi boys who will grow up with out a father and may well blame the USA for it.

Joyce Haas   December 28th, 2007 1:25 pm ET

Wes   December 28th, 2007 12:10 pm ET

We need a veteren in office, educated and informed. Vote Ron Paul.

Shelly   December 28th, 2007 11:09 am ET

Ron Paul will protect our borders, unlike the current president, who in a "war" scenario urges people of America to go shopping and leaves our borders wide open. There were plenty of warnings about 9/11 which the administration chose to ignore; therefore, the terrorists were allowed to carry out their vicious plans. I believe Bush and Cheney gave the stand-down orders that day because it was the pretext for shredding our Constitutional rights. Anyone who researches the Project for a New American Century, or PNAC, can see that these neocons have hijacked our country so that they can seize the power without a fight from the populace. A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for the freedoms that make America great; the right to speak freely, even when we dissent from our government, is so important they called it the First Amendment. The protection from illegal search and seizure of property, the right to due process of the law, Habeas Corpus, the right to bear arms, were put into the Constitution to protect us from our Government! God help us if we lose.

Unfortunately, Ron Paul won't have done anything about 9-11 either."

Unfortunately no man outside of those in the situation at the time, can be judged for what they would have or would not have done. Common sense tells you dire situations lead to strong reactions, and with that being said I'm sure IF Dr. Paul was President during 9/11 he would have offered leadership and direction in the utmost appropriate ways.

To comment otherwise shows a clear lack of common sense and hard lines of division. The world is a shade of gray my brother…Not Black or white…Dr. Paul has presented nothing but common sense speak on the hard issues, he has earned my vote on Feb 5th.

What to do after Ron Paul??

If Ron Paul gets into the White House, even if that happens–and the odds are 6 to 1 according to the professional bookies–we still have work ahead of us. That work will consist of getting other limited government Jeffersonian libertarian minded way travelers into all of the offices that we can, from dog catchers to the Supreme Court. Democrat,Republican, Libertarian, these are merely titles, what is paramount is that we–those of us that are on fire for, thirst after what Dr. Paul offers–get as many ALLIES into offices to assist ourselves with Freeing ourselves from the near on dictatorship that we labor under at this time.

Think about it for a minute now. If even 1/10th of the effort that we all put into this primary to get Ron Paul into the limelight of the GOP where to be keep alive and reused to get say 500 city councilmen, or county commissioners or what not at the local level, then we would have a true real and solidly based revolution of ideas that could not be stopped.

I am not poo pooing Dr. Paul at all, on the contrary I believe that his chances are fantastic at this time; however if he loses or once he is gone–8 years tops–we need a back up plan to ensure that the gains that we have made are not ephemeral. I believe that the MySpace and MeetUp Groups that have formed around the ideas that this mild mannered man can be the kernel that will sprout into the solidity that we will need to ensure that Freedom is more that just a word.

I am not really the guy for this. I am a two time loser convict, and not the most eloquent person; however some of you MAY just be the ones that can bring this to fruitation for the betterment of us all. I urge you to think about my idea, of using the energy that has been built up here to build a political foundation that can not only put Ron Paul into the Presidency of the United States of America, but that can put you into what ever local, or state offices that you can do the most good from for the advancement of the ideal.

Thank You for your time.

Have Republicans forgotten the definition of the word “conservative?”

Barry Goldwater, the father of the modern conservative movement and mentor to Ronald Reagan stated that “being a conservative in America traditionally meant that one holds a deep, abiding respect for the Constitution. We conservatives believe sincerely in the integrity of the Constitution. We treasure the freedoms that document protects…” He went on to say “I have little interest in streamlining government in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that will impose an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is ‘needed’ before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible.”

The US has $9.0 trillion of debt and Ron Paul is the only candidate seriously talking about significantly reducing the size of the federal government. Both Goldwater and Reagan, like Ron Paul, believed in small government, reduced taxes and protection of liberty. In 10 terms in Congress Ron Paul has never voted to raise taxes, never approved an unbalanced budget, never voted for a restriction on gun ownership, he is pro–life, wants to return authority back to the states, protect our borders, protect US Sovereignty, get the US troops from under UN Command and back under the authority of Congress, eliminate entitlement programs, and wants to get the IRS out of American’s lives and the federal government out of regulating and taxing businesses into extinction. We would all be well served to pull out our primer The Conscience of the Conservative by Goldwater and refresh ourselves on the meaning of the word “conservative.” Remarkably, the definition is Ron Paul and his campaign is the Hope to Restore the Republic.

Ron Paul, M.D., TX   December 28th, 2007 12:11 am ET

Liberty Must be our Goal

by Ron Paul, Dr.

May is an important month. This is the time of year when the average American stops working to pay their federal taxes.

Around the latter half of the month, the average American marks "Freedom from Federal Tax Day," which does not mean any of us are yet working for ourselves. Far from it. In fact, once we stop working to pay off our federal taxes, we start working to pay for the cost of federal regulations and state and local taxes. It is not until early July that the people of the 14th District of Texas begin working for themselves.

That is disgraceful, which is why I wanted to come to Congress in the first place. For someone to work six months out of the year only to pay the tax-bill is ridiculous. Think about what you get for your money: EPA agents to grab your land if they think there are endangered weeds on it, OSHA inspectors to shut down your business for "improper" labeling of liquid paper, and IRS inspectors to seize your bank accounts if you use the wrong color of ink on the tax form.

For some, the issue is merely "how do we collect the taxes?" and proceed to debate the merits of a flat tax, a sales tax, a modified graduated tax, and on. But rarely is the real issue discussed by the Washington-insider policy-makers. The real issue is this: Why does government need so much of our money?

The answer is not complex; government wants money because it wants power; politicians want your money so they can make decisions that benefit them politically and force you to do what they want, being molded into their images. And so government grows. And grows. As they take more of our money, the more we are forced to rely on them, and the more money they "need" to "provide." It's a hideous cycle.

Despite what they regard as an inconvenience of the Constitution, the federal government continues to usurp more and more power and privileges which are more correctly left to the individual and the states.

Make no doubts about it, the income tax is horrible, aggressive and must go. At the same time, we must end the appetite the government has for the fruits of your labor. To this end I have introduced House Joint Resolution 116, an amendment to the Constitution, called the Liberty Amendment. The Liberty Amendment has a long history, dating back almost 40 years, with more than a dozen supporters in Congress of its various forms, including several current members.

The Liberty Amendment, if ratified, will repeal the 16th Amendment, which authorized the income tax.

But the Liberty Amendment would do more. It would also prohibit the federal government from taxing estates and gifts, and at the same time require that the federal government withdraw itself, within three years of enactment, from all activities not specified as an enumerated power of the federal government.

It is true that liberty is not free, nor is it easy. But tyranny - even varying degrees of it - is much more difficult, and much more expensive. The time has come to rein in the federal government, put it on a crash diet, and let the people keep their money and their liberty.

Perhaps we will celebrate freedom from federal tax day in January, and "Cost of Government" day in February. It may not happen soon, but we must have a goal.

Our founding fathers agreed that liberty was a worthwhile goal. So should we.(end)

Han:

"Don't kid yourselves guys, Ron Paul stands for the wealthy and the corporate."

So corporate he'd allow competition vs what the government has a monopoly on and lower the prices of forced federal services like SS and Medicare.

"Who else will benefit from declining public health and literacy standards by cutting Federal funding ?"

State funding has more to do with that, federal funding is unaccountable. Most of it is going to wars and spending overseas, which he would get rid of.

"Who else will benefit from reduced consumer, pharmaceutical, investment and environmental regulation & protections ?"

UMMMM us? As for the reduced consumer, he would have nothing to do with that. The big pharma and government intervention is why sick ppl go to Canada for pills and Mexico to seek alternative treatment. Privatization would encourage competition which would lower prices. The Federal Government should have no hand in this, what is wrong with you?

"Like an 19th Century Mill owner, Ron Paul seeks to create a compliant, illterate underclass to provide cheaper labor for big business."

Baseless attack on him. Were you one of those "Children left behind"?

"The initial lower taxes is just a smokescreen for the worst excesses of corporatism, he's trying to buy you with empty promises."

You can lower taxes if you stop spending 15 billion USD a month on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not = getting taxed for military industrial complex = more spending here. Argue this if you want but he will end the war on terror.

"Yes, you may pay lower taxes but you'll be poorer because you'll be earning less and paying more for everything else….."

The only tax he wants to get rid of is the Federal Income tax. There are thousands of other taxes. Everyone pays Fed Inc tax because everyone works. Yes, other taxes may go up, but they will be accounted for and you will have the choice to pay them via your consumption/necessities. They will go to your state and not a war you may or may not agree with.

Ron Paul is the only candidate in either party with a realistic world view. He is a political candidate that actually answers the questions he is asked. I don't agree with everything he says, but based on his 20 year voting record, I know he votes 100% in line with the Constitution, and I can live with that.

If you think that Americans are generally good, hardworking people and that Capitalism and the Constitution provided the blueprint that made the U.S. great; then Ron Paul is your guy.

Prediction: at least third in Iowa, and first in New Hampshire. After that, it is anyones race!

Ron Paul is surging in the polls and at the bank. He is the only well funded Republican candidate and will be able to run a national campaign while the others run out of money.

These people who are bashing Ron Paul are really dumbed down - they need to do a little research. Ron Paul is the fartherest from a poltical insider or corporatism pusher.

What I really think is that they are Democrats and they are scared because they see a truly universally appealing candidate to Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Look out America - here comes Ron Paul - finally an honest candidate

Chuck in Las Vegas   December 27th, 2007 11:53 pm ET

Ron Paul has supporters all across the spectrum because he will reduce the power of the central government to the small role defined for it under the Constitution. People will be free to do as they will in their communities and their states, just as the Founding Fathers intended.

He will reverse the trend toward a bought-and-paid for Congress that spends way too much of OUR money alongside a dictatorial presidency with no regard for the rights of either our citizens (Patriot Act) or our prisoners (Torture).

Freedom is good. Vote for Ron Paul so that we can get our republic back.

Brandon, CT   December 27th, 2007 11:47 pm ET

Ron Paul is going to surprise a lot of people.

We are headed for a recession and unless we cut spending/federal government, and end the 'war on terror', all the Ron Paul haters are in for a big surprise.

Want out of private corporate wars like Iraq? End every worthless war (war on drugs, terror, etc.) that is bankrupting us? Abolish the Patriot Acts and insane (and costly) domestic spying?

Check him out.

I will vote for Ron Paul because I cannot vote for radical fringe like the Hillary /Giulani / Obama et al camp. Publicly supporting a war without a congressional war declaration which Hillary, McCain, Romney, Obama, Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee and the rest have all publicly done is clearly not good for their support as the numbers are showing in these candidates support. McCain and Huckabee are broke, Hillary and Obama are being funded by the drug companies and military industrial complex and misguided people who want government to pay for the homes and medical bills. These candidates are supporting this illegal war on freedom because they know it will help eliminate the entity called the "United States" which each one of these candidates except Ron Paul, despises. Council on Foreign Relations members which include almost every candidate except Ron Paul are THE warmongers of the world. War renamed into "peacekeeping" is VERY profitable, but its still WAR. Are peacekeeper bullets somehow transformed into "peaceful bullets" ? I don't think so. Renaming war to get support from ignorant people is merely a ploy. Its still war. These so called "candidates" on tv each night are nothing more that warmongers and that is why people are fed up with them and are recognizing that Ron Paul is a man who actually has integrity and THAT is what frightens Hillary, Obama and Guilani. If people are waking up enough to support Ron Paul, then the warmongers will be very frightened indeed, for their very jobs are on the line now with the spotlight of freedom being shined on their globalist crimes.

Yeah David,(2nd Commentor from top) We all know Ross Perot and Ralph Nader were so simialar. Talk the same, look the same, they even used to have the same name but one of them thought to upstage the other by changing his name. So Ron Paul is just like Ross Perot and Ralph Nader, except he is a 10 term congressman, father of 5 children (3 of which have grown up to be doctors), has 17 grandchildren, has been married to the same woman for 50 years, has a 100% constitutional voting record in 20 years as Texas, Congressman over a period of 30 years, has broken all previous campaign fundraising records twice in the same quarter this primary season, has never excepted one penny of lobbyist or special interest contributions, was drafted into Vietnam and served for 5 years in the Air Force as a flight surgeon, ran a successful medical practice in which he delivered 4000 babies and never once accepted government welfare programs as a source of payment for his patients. He instead offered services at a greatly reduced price or for free in the name of charity or worked out payment arrangements. He is ranking chairman on the congressional house banking committee, a student of Austrian economics and well educated in the economic teachings of Ludwig Von Mises of the Mises Institute. So yeah I'd say your spot on with your analysis there buddy.

"Unfortunately, Ron Paul won't have done anything about 9-11 either."

What exactly has GWB done about 9/11? Invaded the wrong country, thrust our troops into a senseless religious war, failed to focus on Afghanistan (where the terrorists actually were before our stupid incursion into Iraq, and the occupation that followed), and, generally made things much worse than they were. Here's the bottomline—-it is a joke to even think that a Christian Crusader like GWB is going to spread "democracy" or "freedom" to Muslims. They have no idea what "democracy", or, "freedom" requires. Governments that place religious practices above "freedom" and "democracy" will achieve neither. There were more "terrists" in Saudi Arabia, which is where the hijackers came from, than in Iraq. Yeah, I think Ron Paul will be a great President (as anyone will, who succeeds the Chimp In Charge), and keep us out of these constant religious/civil wars. It is well past time to rid ourselves of our current, limited foreign policy idiots who seem to think diplomacy consists only of threats (and implementation) of military action. Ron Paul is also correct about Pakistan. He says qulit sending billions of our tax dollars to prop up a Military Dictator, who, by the way, GWB thinks is just fine. I guess he doesn't find anything wrong wity suspending Constitution. I'll bet GWB wishes he could do the same to silence his many critics. This is, and, has been our policy since the end of WW2 in this region . Let 'em figure it out themselves. I like his "let's mind our own business" talk. It is long overdue. We are reaping what we've sown, as anyone who takes the time to read the history of Iran, Israel, The US, and our intel services, the Mossad, and CIA and the installation of the Shah knows too well. It would be good to read Jimmy Carter's book that caused such a furor for telling the truth about the Palestinians. Ron Paul will also attempt to stop the recent attempts by the Bushcos to shred the Constitution. This country is a total mess, and, it can be laid right at the feet of Mr. 9/11 himself. No, I don't mean Rudy Giuliani, who is another fool who likes to think of himself as Mr. 9/11, overestimates his accomplishments as it concerns 9/11. So, don't worry—Ron Paul will be a way better Prez than GWB. (Heck, Ru Paul would do a better job than GWB).

Correction: this passage should read…

"The great thing about our country is we have 300,000,000 replacements for our leaders, not all are qualified but you CAN'T cut off our head with out consolidation of power and fear in the harts of the people."

David M. Round Rock, TX   December 27th, 2007 4:14 pm ET

Anyone who says Ron Paul is a joke or a kook or a crazy is also calling our troops all over the world a joke, kooks, and crazies because he gets more donations from the military than ANY other candidate!
Get with it people, you keep pushing the insanity of the status quo (same thing expecting different results..) propaganda and we can push right back with your same flawed logic but with the moral highground.

Here, let me show you…

If you do not elect Ron Paul, the Islamo-fascists will win! They want us to drain our wealth into foreign crusades and cause a split in our country through petty squabbles. The Islamo-fascists don't have to ever fire another shot as long as we bankrupt ourselves and allow our leaders to sell our infrastructure out to foreign interests. An Anti-Ron Paul vote is a racist vote because as long as the status quo is continued millions of people (cultures, religions, CIVILIANS…) will die and the "World" will blame the American people for allowing it to happen. To allow ANY other candidate to win the election is to declare defeat, a cut-and-run attitude that would require us to continue into our downward spiral away from the Constitution. All other candidates are unelectable, have no chance (at helping America), and are a bunch of Long-Shots (to have effective credibility to lead America and the free world). Oh, not to mention the establishment Spammers of the Mainstream Media that repeat, verbatim, the same stories about Ron Paul but continue to promote the America destroying, Propaganda spewing, Constitution trampling establishment candidates. Maybe the military should be used on those ‘domestic enemies’, you think ‘Glenn’? Don’t worry, if Ron Paul is elected you won’t EVER have to worry about a cannibalizing government sending it’s stormtroopers to bust in your door because Ron Paul believes in the RULE OF LAW. Give Caesar (We The People) what is Caesar’s.

How did you like that one? Even if RP does not get elected We The People are not just going to flutter away and forget about this. We want freedom, and that is what you should want. The great thing about our country is we have 300,000,000 replacements for our leaders, not all are qualified but you can cut off our head with out consolidation of power and fear in the harts of the people. The saying “We have nothing to fear but fear it’s self” rings true today more than at any other time in our history. Thank you for your time. May the light of truth shine on you always. Peace.

Ross Perot may well have won if they had not threatened his daughter adn made him back out. Not only that but history has shown his platforms(sucking sound of NAFTA comes to mind) have proven out true. Dr. Pauls will as well.

Individual liberty, dig it.

Are we Americans so arrogant as to think that we are immune to the passions that have given rise to tyranny and despotism elswhere? Wake up, people! We are like the proverbial frog in the pot, oblivious to the slowly rising teperature of the water.

You may not yet have felt the pain of loss for your freedoms. You wore your seatbelt or your motorcycle helmet anyway. You bought that water-saving toilet or that compact flourescent light bulb to save money or the environment, not because there are no longer five-gallon flush or incandescent alternatives. Hopefully you are not a biggot, so "civil rights" legislation that replaces your freedom of associastion isn't much of a burden either. But what happens when they come for something you really care about?

What if they outlaw guns, gambling, homeschooling, herbal remedies, unpasturized milk, real Christmas trees, contact sports, double cheeseburgers or whatever? You need to think about the answers because they are already coming. In some cases, they are already here.

This election is a rare opportunity to reverse this deeply disturbing trend, this death march to collectivist oppression. One man in the field of pesidential candidates wants you to be treated as an individual, not a member of a special intrest group. He doesn't even think in terms of ethnicities or voting blocks. When he looks at you, the only colors he sees are red, white and blue.

Congressman Ron Paul, M.D. is unusual to be sure, the way that a diamond in a pile of rocks is unusual. He is the squarest of the square, but he fights for your right not to be if you so choose. He is the Air Force veteran who opposes the military draft, the Yale-trained physician who supports alternative medicine, the devout Christain who fights for your right to be Bhudist or nudist or free-range organic foodist.

A Ron Paul administration might be a little scary, with lower or no taxes, there would be less government services. Mostly the government would just protect you from force and fraud. Returning to a constitutionally limited government that would neither be strong enough to steal from you or for you just might give you more freedom than you are comfortable with. A free nation would look a little more like a jungle, but it would also look a little less like a zoo.

Maybe Dr. Paul doesn't fit your idea of what a president should look or sound like. Maybe you want a leader who looks good on television, and are willing to put up with extra-constitutional executive powers, preemptive undeclared wars, trans-fat bans, CAFE standards, smoking bans, central bank monopolies, SWAT raids on cancer patients, inflation, forced vaccinations, domestic spying, mutual defense treaties, lobbyist-written legislation, and IRS audits. You are free to feel that way. That's your right, but when the government thugs come goose-stepping down your street it might be too late to ever change your mind.

Paul   December 27th, 2007 3:22 pm ET

Hey, S.B. Stein E.B.:

In a Ron Paul interview on NOW on PBS, he said that people need to understand that every vote AGAINST something is also a vote FOR something. He goes against the status quo because he is a man of principle and ethics, and with every NO vote he votes YES to the U.S. Constitution. The other members of congress don't give a rat's about the COnstitution. All they care about is lining their pockets with OUR money.

In my view, Dr. Ron Paul should consider it a compliment that his "peers" in Congress call him "Dr. No."

Robyn   December 27th, 2007 3:13 pm ET

When pundits and media quote poll numbers it would be fair of them to quote exactly how the poll was conducted. Any moron can tell you that you can get the numbers you want from a poll just by screening your pollers. The companies who do these polls have posted on their sites (although it is buried deep) that they will get the results you want, and most of them guarantee it. I never believe polls anymore unless they are done with totally random numbers or on the computer where ip numbers are tracked.

Eric   December 27th, 2007 2:55 pm ET

You claimed that Ron Paul wouldn't have done anything about 9-11? Here's what he's already said:

A) the FAA restricted any firearms on planes. The airlines were unable to protect the passengers as they saw fit (perhaps with well trained and well armed pilots and unarmed passengers). This is the freedom we give armored car companies. Lesson: Don't go out to find trouble, defend our borders, protect our 2nd ammendment rights, and get government out of the business of private security.

B) after 9-11 he agreed to use military force to find Osama Bin Laden. He doesn't like the direction the military went with that, but he is not the commander in chief.

To me it sounds like Ron Paul attacks the problem in a more sensible and more effective way.

ERIC / SAN DIEGO   December 27th, 2007 2:12 pm ET

Was interesting to see the poll results on AOL …
RON PAUL came in 1st , among the AOL Republican voters, with 32% …"Guli" was a distant 2nd, with 16%….I don't know what the final results of that poll were, but it was interesting to see last night's "returns" from the AOL voters…

I like the fact that PAUL wants to pull all our troops from IRAQ / KOREA / JAPAN / EUROPE / etc …. The UK EMPIRE went thru this period of having troops stationed all over the world, and it got them nowhere…and then, after WW2, they lost their Reserve Currency status….declined. ( and, I consider myself a Conservative Republican…ok…But, I've had enough of this military industrail complex, bleeding us dry…and killing our kids…In the words of Patton.."let the other dumb ba$tard die for his country")

I also like the monetary ideals that Ron Paul espouses …basically the Austrian theory of Economics (you can look it up)…but our monetary policy with respect to our central bank, is lousy IMO…We've got to stop using a "credit card", and freely printed money, to pay for things today ( stop $crewing my son's future!)…We became a great country by working hard and saving…Now we sit on our arses, and rely on inflation to pump up home prices, etc, to give us the mirage of wealth (taht's lazy and doesn't work, in the long term)….the day will come when we'll be sorry that we did not kick out the "old politicians", and get back to sanity…( People think PAUL is "wierd" simply because they've gotten used to the "old political" lies and promises…the promises they'll never be able to keep ! )

Meg, Telford, PA   December 27th, 2007 2:03 pm ET

Ron Paul doesn't need to win Iowa or New Hampshire; he has the money to go the distance. All Ron Paul needs is a decent showing in either contest.

The longer Ron Paul is in the race; the more people will be exposed to his message of peace, liberty and prosperity. His campaign will continue to gain momentum no matter what happens in Iowa and New Hampshire.

I've always planned on supporting Ron Paul over the long haul as have many others. You nay sayers just don't get it; we want Ron Paul to be our next President; but it's the MESSAGE of freedom we want to spread far and wide.

We're sick of the status quo and we mean to change it. We aren't just interested in putting a man in the White House, we want men and women with the same philosophy on local political committees, in the city governments, on the benches in the courts, in the state houses, the govenorships, the US Congress and Senate.

We're working to take our country back from the corporations, lobbyists, special interests, globalists, neocons, unelected bureaucrats, and corrupt republicrats.

We aren't loyal to a political party, we're loyal to our country. We're reclaiming our citizenship by grabbing hold of our grassroots bootstraps and pulling ourselves up one voter at a time, and we're winning!

Ron Paul, according to the MSM pundits 6 months ago, is doing the impossible right now! Why do you continue to listen to them?

The best cure for sheeple syndrome is - Ron Paul.

Some democrats zealots here seem to be so clueless. If Paul goes third party, it is most likely to hurt Obama big-time (this is because at least Obama's supporters are genuine in looking for change and open-minded; there is no hope for Hillary supporters).

C Glenn   December 27th, 2007 1:41 pm ET

Wow. Some of you people leaving comments need to do a little more homework. Please actually read the Constitution and Bill of Rights. These are the CURRENT highest laws of THIS COUNTRY. This is not imaginary or hypothetical.

There is only ONE candidate who realizes how important it is to OBEY the CURRENT LAW, and shut down all the other illegal activities of the federal government. Doing so will return this country to the path laid out by our founding fathers, and off the global fascism track of the Council for Foreign Relations. For the record, all the candidates except Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are card-carrying members of the CFR.

This is not conspiracy theory lunacy. It is real, and you can easily look it up. So wake up and fight, or continue to believe the lies you are fed, and continue to be a willing pawn in the destruction of America.

VAT   December 27th, 2007 1:33 pm ET

I believe in Ron Paul and his ideas. As a politically neutral person, I feel relieved to have a candidate that is able to inform and backs his sound principals up with reasonable action. It is wonderful to be offered a candidate in which I do not feel that I am voting for the lesser of two evils.

Read what Ron Paul has to say to make your decision about him. He has written much but it is worth it to read the information and gain a true understanding of Ron Paul and his ideals. It is too easy to repeat falsehoods you have heard elsewhere or to randomly bash him or his supporter.

Ron Paul has both Republican and Democrat elites wanting to shut him up. He is a threat to the way business is done in DC. It is about time for our people to become better informed and to demand integrity from our elected officials. No more disillusionment. No more to abusing tax payer money. No more lies.

Say yes to Dr No.

To our youth who are campaigning for Ron Paul, I want to say thank you for being informed and taking action. I appreciate all you do and I am amazed by your dedication to making America better for all of us.

J.Hall   December 27th, 2007 1:29 pm ET

If Ron Paul was the guy in the picture he'd win in a landslide.
Unfortunately, Ron Paul is not the guy in the picture. He's a 72 year old geezer politician who hasn't accomplished a hill of beans, as they say in Texas.

JBM   December 27th, 2007 1:27 pm ET

its good to see NATIONALism in the form of Ron Paul. The Ron Paul Revolution is nothing more than American taking back there country. it will be a great day when the GOP nominates this guy.

Jay Ler, Arlington, VA   December 27th, 2007 12:21 pm ET

Why is it so hard for Americans to understand PRINCIPLES, as opposed to PARTIES? Ron Paul stands for the principles of freedom, limited government, prosperity, and peace; he does not for himself. A comparison to Ross Perot makes no sense, even if you disagree with the principles. Republicans used to understand these things. What happened?

Lisa Palm, Gaylord, MI   December 27th, 2007 12:18 pm ET

Ron Paul is for less government. Newsflash-that's a GOOD thing!

Karen Houston TX   December 27th, 2007 12:02 pm ET

Ron Paul supporters need to get smart with their vote. Ron Paul is going nowhere in this election in spite of his ability to raise money fast. That is not an insult, it is just a fact.

Although Ron Paul has a lot of good ideas, he constantly pops off with an extreme thought or idea that makes him appear to be completely out of touch.

He would better serve the country by pulling out of the race, and endorsing a candidate that actually has a chance of winning. As it is he is simply splitting up the vote.

Jena, Florida   December 27th, 2007 11:55 am ET

Ron Paul has my undying support. No matter what others say about him - he is worlds better than the other candidates - both Republican and Democrat.

Walter, Hampton NH   December 27th, 2007 11:44 am ET

Ron Paul is the only candidate that can put this country back on the right track. The constitution is the ultimate letter of the law in this country. Its amazing to hear all the other candidates talk about how they'll do this or that with out constitutional authority or a method to pay for it. Ron Paul is responsible, accountable, and a very intelligent man. Unlike others, I do not see him seeking the office out of personal gain. Paul is running out of service for country, and I can respect that.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   December 27th, 2007 10:45 am ET

Okay, I'll give… What did this guy vote for? It doesn't seem like he would do much as president either except take apart the federal government if you listen to his interview on Meet the Press from 12/23/07. It would seem that most of his career would be saying or voting no except to putting in requests for his district. How is that a "tax credit" rather than an earmark? I think that this guy could be no different than the others running.

Surrealist, Fort Myers, FL   December 27th, 2007 8:18 am ET

I wonder, did he join the Air Force out of patriotic duty? Or perhaps, it was to obtain a medical degree at "uncle sugars" expense–and of course a residency.

Don't believe everything you read. While he did serve–his motives weren't necessarily patriotic–and he exited stage left as soon as his active duty service commitment was complete.

What type of command responsibilities does a medical corps officer have who never rises above the rank of Captain??????

Yep–don't believe all you read.

Paul G., Solomons, MD   December 27th, 2007 7:39 am ET

Wow!! A fair, factual story about Ron Paul on CNN? A story devoid of editorial comments? A story without any mention of something that smears him? Unbelievable. I do however take note that the last sentence makes sure to remind the reader that Ron Paul is in single digits in the latest polls of likely GOP voters. Well if those are the only people polled, of course the numbers are going to be single digit. But Ron Paul's base is made up of not just GOP members. Indies, Libertarians, Dems, and first-time voters are in the mix in huge numbers. Add about 25% to the single digits, and you'll have a more precise poll result.

Nick, Los Angeles CA   December 27th, 2007 7:20 am ET

I just learned about Ron Paul and did my own research on him. I am elated to finally find an honest man, with an immaculate voting record and personal history, with some common sense ideas! What I especially like about him are his very pro-constitution, pro-freedom, pro-civil rights, pro-free trade stances and voting record. I didn't know there were people like this in D.C. nowadays. At last a candidate I can be proud to support and vote for! I've been a Republican since I first voted 20 years ago and I'm glad to see I actually have someone that represents my conservative views.

Mark, Murray Utah   December 27th, 2007 3:58 am ET

2) Paul has double digits in Iowa according to americanresearchgroup.com

He is also leading fund raising for this Quarter. $18,800,000, and still going! Now that shows real support that the polls are not picking up. There is going to be a pleasant surprise on Jan 3! Thank you for the fair report. You didn't say 'long-shot candidate.'

Hmm last time I checked, He was in three way tie with Giuliani in Iowa.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/12/21/eveningnews/main3640041.shtml

Another Shows him at 10% in Iowa. http://americanresearchgroup.com/

And he is beating Fred Thompson and is on Huckabee's heels in New Hampshire. http://www.presidentpolls2008.com/

Now isnt that information a little more objective than 'He's still in single digits,' He may be in some polls, But so is Giuliani, Huckabee and Thompson in some polls. But we will never hear that. They are the chosen ones. Doesn't context hurt?

A congressional salary is like a political party: it is just another unratified policy signed into practice.

And, a senator is meant to be living on an existing retirement plan, so able to afford the time, while building yet an even greater and federally sponsored pension found beyond their private means.

William Courtland, Waterford, Ontario   December 26th, 2007 11:41 pm ET

Congressional pay? Voting for an increase… like a salary?

To be reimbursed.

A member of congress is only to be remunerated when they are in direct service to the federal government as it relates directly to the work required to be done; otherwise they are working in the current career or field they are regularly employed under. As such, an elected doctor or lawyer will get reimbursed more than an elected barber because they are remunerated for different employment losses. This allows the acceptance of a riding with thirty to forty thousand people at maximum. By apportionment there should currently be ten thousand members of congress who they are only called to power like a reservist.

If an overpriced musician gains a house seat and because of required duty missed a previously scheduled production when fulfilling that required government service then they will be reimbursed by the government for the equal value of loss and possibly for other expenses incurred in the fulfillment of such a duty or required service (stationary for example).

Without a committee assignment, without requirement for service by the public of the riding, and without the order to convene into congress: a member of congress would not receive income from the federal government as no duty was fulfilled, so income gains are limited to the pensioning and other such benefits universally agreed upon for all members.

To set a maximum for remuneration when under such service the constitution would need to ratify an amendment setting the limit.

The Federal Congress, the Senate, and the Presidency itself are completely under the authority of a majority found between the States; the constitution is a statement of the current will and requirement found by that combined republic majority.

Ron Paul: "Defender of Freedom" Ron Paul's platform web site boosts he is "the prime sponsor of HR 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v Wade". Take away a woman's freedom to choose and force her give birth to an unwanted child, what a great idea, what a wonderful world that would be, what a guy!. We can't take care of the children we have in the U.S. now. Nearly 13 million U.S. children live in families with incomes below the federal poverty level. Where is universal health and dental care for all children we have now? There are more than half a million children and youth in the U.S. foster care system. Why don't those who want to take away women's freedom to choose take care of all the children we already have, step up to the plate there seems to be far more of a problem taking care of the children we have already, why? why is this? Why are there so many children in poverty, with out health care, in foster homes etc?

This guy is still a nutjob and still took money from a skinhead. He is irrelevant. And so what if he delivered 4,000 babies? Is that some qualification for president we never knew about?

Dr. Ron Paul's campaign ad will answer some questions about him, but you can understand him and his principles much better from his webpage. I recently found that his online followers are not all young adults. Some are baby boomers. Many of them have never voted before. This is an unpredictable force.

You can trust Dr. Ron Paul with our country.

I have never before been as interested in politics and an election year as I am for the Presidential race for 2008.
In my lifetime, I never thought I would see a politician tell it like it is and be as inspirational as I have seen in Ron Paul. He has certainly "cured my Apathy" towards politics…and given a lot of people hope.

Steve, San Francisco   December 26th, 2007 10:43 pm ET

It's up to you New Hampshire. Vote for Ron Paul. Everyone else is part of the machine that robs us blind.

John Butler Boca Raton FL   December 26th, 2007 10:40 pm ET

I am so excited about having a candidate like Dr. Paul that I actually believe in. Not only do I believe in him… I believe what he says, which is a first in history for me when it comes to politics. It's safe to say that in today's world of "politics as a business", Ron Paul is a refreshing choice for those that want real change in Washington.

And it really seems like Dr. Paul has a great shot at the White House. I see his supporters all over the place, and everyone I talk to seems to feel the same way. He is clearly the only republican candidate that can beat Mrs. Clinton due to his stance on the war and individual freedom and liberty.

Rand Thinker, Liberty RP   December 26th, 2007 10:31 pm ET

We have over 700 military bases in over 130 countries. Only one candidate has pointed this out to the American people. Thank you Ron Paul. By the way can you even name 130 different countries? never mind afford the $1 Trillion it costs to maintain these bases each year. It's funny how we protect Seoul better than we protect NYC or DC.

Matthew Smeltzer, Whitefish Montana   December 26th, 2007 10:23 pm ET

Dr. Ron Paul did have a 140% increase in the Iowa Scientific poll, bringing him to 10%!

We are teachers, farmers, students, accountants, athletes, soldiers, physical therapists, bricklayers, firefighters, retired persons, barbers, welders, store managers, waitresses, police officers, biologists, attorneys, janitors, programmers, real estate agents, musicians, chefs, homeschoolers, and project managers. We are young, old, and middle-aged. We are traditional and not-so-traditional. We are lifelong Republicans, former Democrats, and political independents who have never before voted. To look at us you might think we have nothing in common. However, the one thing which unites us all is our common goal - to restore respect for the Constitution of the United States and the values of freedom and honesty upon which this great country was founded. WE ARE THE RON PAUL REVOLUTION.

"is registering single-digit support in most recent polls of GOP primary voters."

It's because the polls don't show me or any of the thousands of voters that don't get polled

Desiree Wilson, B.A., M.Ed., Arizona   December 26th, 2007 10:05 pm ET

This Congressman is THE only man that is giving us the truth. All the other candidates use slogans and one-liners, but not this candidate. As far as I am concerned he is our ONLY hope. I have voted as a democrat all my life (50 years old)until now. I changed to a republican so I could vote for him in the primaries! It is a Ron Paul rEVOLution!!!

Ajay Jain   December 26th, 2007 10:00 pm ET

Ron Paul will be the 2008 "spoiler" and responsible for a Hillary win (12/20/07). You may quote me on this in January 2009 if not before (wink, wink)!!

Go Hillary44 08! http://hillaryis44.org/

John, Golden, Colorado   December 26th, 2007 9:43 pm ET

Medical doctor, veteran, fiscally conservative, and upholds the Constitution. Ron Paul has my support and my vote.

JN, watertown, ny   December 26th, 2007 9:39 pm ET

Ron Paul is like Obama inthe Ilinois senate - never bother to cast votes. This saves defending the votes later!

Stephen Hollifield   December 26th, 2007 9:23 pm ET

I feel fortunate that Ron Paul represents my vote so clearly, and thus amazed at the number of people I meet who are behind him solely based on the fact that they know he will do what he "says" he will do. That is definitely the mark of a man who does not fit into our current political picture.

Larry F, Antelope Valley CA   December 26th, 2007 9:15 pm ET

"Those media generated polls are as valuable as the media propaganda that pushed the nation to war in Iraq. People should have as much faith in polls as they do the Easter Bunny and computerized voting. Ron Paul is going to win by a landslide."

Ryan, Seattle WA   December 26th, 2007 9:13 pm ET

An excellent ad. Hopefully Iowans will hear the message in time. I have faith he will perform strongly in the early states.

Tess, California   December 26th, 2007 9:11 pm ET

Awesome Ad!!! I can't wait to cast my vote for this true American, Ron Paul. He represents 70 plus percent of American people that want to put a stop to this costly and unconstitutional war, and bring our troops home immediately. He is the only candidate that will stop making millionaires (Haliburton, GE, media corporations) from this costly war, which is being paid for by the hard working Americans tax dollars. Washington and all the neocons need to be shown how to run a country with our Constitution and by WE THE PEOPLE again, and Ron Paul is our only Hope. Let Freedom ring again America.
Ron Paul has my vote and support.

"is registering single-digit support in most recent polls of GOP primary voters."

Ya, and so is John McCain, why didn't you include that in his ad ticker below?

Jeff T. Palmdale, CA   December 26th, 2007 9:05 pm ET

This could be our last chance to get it right. Ron Paul has been getting it right for a very long time. Now he welcomes our support and we welcome his vision to take this country back from the NeoCons and Corporate interests. Our constitution is waiting for us to protect and defend what is ours. Individual Freedom and Liberty. I am amazed at the false poll representations. The mainstream media bought and sold spewing tailored results,…showing just how low will they will go. MSM Should be ashamed.

Matt Baker, Chanute Ks   December 26th, 2007 8:59 pm ET

Once again cnn throws in the polls, AND ONCE AGAIN, before any of you doubters of RON PAUL start spouting * HE ISNT ELECTIBLE * THE POLLS ARE BASED ON LAST YEARS VOTERS FROM THE GOP, LANDBASED PHONES ONLY, They take none of the NEW REGISTERED REPUBLICANS into account, In NH alone there has been an increase of 47 percent in NEW VOTER REGISTRATIONS for the GOP! WHY DO YOU THINK THEY ARE REGISTERING REPUBLICAN? I can guarantee you it isnt any of the STUFFEDSHIRTED GOP besides RON PAUL!</
