Our nation is headed in the wrong direction. We started off with principles of limited government, individual responsibility and individual respect. George Washington said, upon leaving office to "stay out of entangling alliances." He knew what he was talking about. The Constitution says only gold and silver shall be legal tender, those guys knew what they were talking about.

In today's context they would be called "radicals," "fools." Sure, the MSM will never say George Washington is an idiot, or Thomas Jefferson is a quack, they'll say "Ron Paul can't win, he is fringe." Revive Jefferson today and he would say the FBI, Fed, Iraq War, Income Tax, Department of Education, Homeland Security, CIA, NSA, Energy, are all ABOMINATIONS.

Our government is an ABOMINATION. Our children will see worse days then we are seeing, even if Ron Paul is elected. However, Fox, CNN, Bush, the whole rotten Congress, and the whole rotten Bureaucracy tramples on our founders' ideals, and on our founding principles day in and day out.

At least Ron Paul has backbone and adheres to this nation's original sound principles. He criticizes Lincoln, and you know what, that takes more backbone the entire White House put together. He criticizes Wilson, he is principled to the core, and mark my words, a man like this only gets close to the top once in a lifetime, nay once in ten lifetimes. Vote for him, support him, because after him its downhill for America.

I have only begun to fight! There is more at stake here then just a popularity contest. We are talking about the future of our nation, our economic crisis, our children's future, and so much more.

I am voting for Ron Paul because he is the only candidate with a solid record that is supportive of the US Constitution. The Constitution gives the PEOPLE their rights, and to choose anyone else means that we agree to this insanity that has happened the last few decades of having OUR freedoms stripped.

It is OUR responsibility to ensure liberty for ourselves and those that come after us. I do not mind fighting this fight, but my goal is to liberate my children. Enough is enough!

There's a lot of people who like to bash Ron Paul, yet they offer no alternative that has a better solution on any platform. If he's not a viable candidate, them why bother coming here at all to simply call him a "Kook"? Is is because he can beat your candidate on every position? Is it because he speaks the truth? Because he actually answers the questions? Because he actually READS books and reports? Why are you afraid of Ron Paul?

Dear People,

Our country is about a foot away from a dollar collapse of historical proportions. So many people in this country just want to stick their heads in the sand like an ostrich and not face hard facts.

Wake up AMERICA!!!!!!!

Another election, another 'band-aid' presidential pool who all want to put another band-aid on our massively broken economic system.

Ron Paul is our last hope before the world toilet flushes the USA down the spout. You people can't see the light and/or have no courage.

I am flat out disgusted.

For the record, I am a 52 year old male with a Masters Degree. I fully support Ron Paul because he is the only intelligent choice. His difficulty is that he not only has to win the hearts of the people but he has to overcome the mainstream press who simply refuses to print the whole untainted truth. Why? Who rules the press? It becomes so glaringly obvious each day that the big money machine does not want the Ron Paul message to get out.

Ron Paul is the last, great hope for America... I cringe to think of what lies ahead if Americans don't wake up and take back our country. Ron Paul is the only candidate who can do this. The rest are all given to us by the same powerbrokers. It's time to break free. "Give me Ron Paul, or give me death".

The War in Iraq and Radical Islamic Terrorism are two entirely different creatures. Our men and women in uniform were sent to Iraq under the false pretenses that Hussein controlled weapons of mass destruction and was an eminent threat to America. Hussein and Bin Laden were not allies, and statistics show there are more terrorists in Iraq today than prior to our occupation.

Ron Paul recognizes that you cannot fight small terrorist cells by engaging in a national police action, patrolling streets and rebuilding another nation’s infrastructure when we have our own problems in the homeland. Terrorists must be fought using elite special-forces and tactics, not by attempting to serve as the planet’s global police force. Our nation simply cannot afford such an endeavor.

I support Ron Paul because he is a humble man of reason and logic. He believes in a strong national defense based on the motto: "Walk softly and carry a big stick." I also like how he wants to depose the IRS.

This message is in response to Cat, from California.

He did nothing, and that's the point. We're all (hopefully) adults here. We can take care of ourselves. We don't need the government inefficiently taking care of us from cradle to grave. If you can't take care of yourself that is not the governments fault and/or problem. The biggest problem in this country is people refusing to take responsibility for their own actions. Ron Paul is the only person man enough to do something about it, regardless of whether it is popular to all the irresponsible people out there or not.

Lex L: Hillary & Giuliani are "radical?" Are you serious or just baiting those left of Francisco Franco? These two aren't even liberal, let alone radical. The US has no Left. If we did Hillary would be considered a Republican. We have Republican and Republican Lite. Fearing something that doesn't exist....sounds chillingly familiar.

I have seen a large increase in personal attacks against Ron Paul in the last week. 'Kook' and 'Racist Anti-Semite' are the favored themes. This is a good sign. His detractors are getting VERY nervous.

Go Ron Paul!
You got here just in time to save our Republic.
There is a lot of work to do!

Its ashame to see such comments for the people who disapprove of Dr. Paul. Since really the only thing he has been preaching is the constitution, freedom and its fundamentals. I think the only real terrorists I have seen are those here at home who pass legislation authorizing warrantless searches, and continuously spy on its citizens. If the "terrorists" (to which any one can be one) really did hate our freedom I guess they did win because look how much the bill of rights has been suppressed since 911.~ Vote Ron Paul 08

I will vote in the Virginia primary on Feb. 12th for Dr. Paul and will vote for him again in November. This guy is gonna shock the current system!! Exactly what this nation needs, in my opinion. The power brokers/mongers will have no choice but to take notice when they see their gravy train starting to derail.

Brandon, CT :

"So corporate he'd allow competition vs what the government has a monopoly on and lower the prices of forced federal services like SS and Medicare. "

is this the same 'competition' among healthcare providers that raises premiums 100% every seven years, as opposed to Medicare which rises 20% every seven years ?

you have a choice on Healthcare - low cost provision by an accountable mix of government working with providers, or the Ron Paul way - pay double your premiums every seven years to unaccountable private companies who can deny you coverage if you get sick . . .

& has Paul actually explained how HSA's saving accounts will keep up with this cost doubling every seven years ? no, i don't think he has.

the only thing Ron Paul is 'informed' about, is how to raise corporate profits at the expense of the gullible, who believe his very low voting attendance record and highest earmarking in Teaxs is a good thing . . .

you have a choice on Healthcare – low cost provision by an accountable mix of government working with providers, or the Ron Paul way – pay double your premiums every seven years to unaccountable private companies who can deny you coverage if you get sick . . .

& has Paul actually explained how HSA's saving accounts will keep up with this cost doubling every seven years ? no, i don't think he has.

the only thing Ron Paul is 'informed' about, is how to raise corporate profits at the expense of the gullible, who believe his very low voting attendance record and highest earmarking in Teaxs is a good thing . . .

I'm supporting Ron Paul. 911 was the blow back of our immoral policy of supporting the Saudi king in exchange for oil. It has not anything to do with Arabs hating us for being successful. We gave this king everything he needed to suppress his people for decades in exchange for oil.

The Iraq war is not making us safer - instead there are 100's of thousands of Iraqi boys who will grow up with out a father and may well blame the USA for it.

Ron Paul will protect our borders, unlike the current president, who in a "war" scenario urges people of America to go shopping and leaves our borders wide open. There were plenty of warnings about 9/11 which the administration chose to ignore; therefore, the terrorists were allowed to carry out their vicious plans. I believe Bush and Cheney gave the stand-down orders that day because it was the pretext for shredding our Constitutional rights. Anyone who researches the Project for a New American Century, or PNAC, can see that these neocons have hijacked our country so that they can seize the power without a fight from the populace. A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for the freedoms that make America great; the right to speak freely, even when we dissent from our government, is so important they called it the First Amendment. The protection from illegal search and seizure of property, the right to due process of the law, Habeas Corpus, the right to bear arms, were put into the Constitution to protect us from our Government! God help us if we lose.

Quote = "Walt, Belton, TX - December 26, 2007 6:51 pm ET
Unfortunately, Ron Paul won't have done anything about 9-11 either."

Unfortunately no man outside of those in the situation at the time, can be judged for what they would have or would not have done. Common sense tells you dire situations lead to strong reactions, and with that being said I'm sure IF Dr. Paul was President during 9/11 he would have offered leadership and direction in the utmost appropriate ways.

To comment otherwise shows a clear lack of common sense and hard lines of division. The world is a shade of gray my brother...Not Black or white...Dr. Paul has presented nothing but common sense speak on the hard issues, he has earned my vote on Feb 5th.

What to do after Ron Paul??

If Ron Paul gets into the White House, even if that happens--and the odds are 6 to 1 according to the professional bookies--we still have work ahead of us. That work will consist of getting other limited government Jeffersonian libertarian minded way travelers into all of the offices that we can, from dog catchers to the Supreme Court. Democrat,Republican, Libertarian, these are merely titles, what is paramount is that we--those of us that are on fire for, thirst after what Dr. Paul offers--get as many ALLIES into offices to assist ourselves with Freeing ourselves from the near on dictatorship that we labor under at this time.

Think about it for a minute now. If even 1/10th of the effort that we all put into this primary to get Ron Paul into the limelight of the GOP where to be keep alive and reused to get say 500 city councilmen, or county commissioners or what not at the local level, then we would have a true real and solidly based revolution of ideas that could not be stopped.

I am not poo pooing Dr. Paul at all, on the contrary I believe that his chances are fantastic at this time; however if he loses or once he is gone--8 years tops--we need a back up plan to ensure that the gains that we have made are not ephemeral. I believe that the MySpace and MeetUp Groups that have formed around the ideas that this mild mannered man can be the kernel that will sprout into the solidity that we will need to ensure that Freedom is more that just a word.

I am not really the guy for this. I am a two time loser convict, and not the most eloquent person; however some of you MAY just be the ones that can bring this to fruitation for the betterment of us all. I urge you to think about my idea, of using the energy that has been built up here to build a political foundation that can not only put Ron Paul into the Presidency of the United States of America, but that can put you into what ever local, or state offices that you can do the most good from for the advancement of the ideal.

Thank You for your time.

Have Republicans forgotten the definition of the word “conservative?”

Barry Goldwater, the father of the modern conservative movement and mentor to Ronald Reagan stated that “being a conservative in America traditionally meant that one holds a deep, abiding respect for the Constitution. We conservatives believe sincerely in the integrity of the Constitution. We treasure the freedoms that document protects…” He went on to say “I have little interest in streamlining government in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed their purpose, or that will impose an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is ‘needed’ before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible.”

The US has $9.0 trillion of debt and Ron Paul is the only candidate seriously talking about significantly reducing the size of the federal government. Both Goldwater and Reagan, like Ron Paul, believed in small government, reduced taxes and protection of liberty. In 10 terms in Congress Ron Paul has never voted to raise taxes, never approved an unbalanced budget, never voted for a restriction on gun ownership, he is pro–life, wants to return authority back to the states, protect our borders, protect US Sovereignty, get the US troops from under UN Command and back under the authority of Congress, eliminate entitlement programs, and wants to get the IRS out of American’s lives and the federal government out of regulating and taxing businesses into extinction. We would all be well served to pull out our primer The Conscience of the Conservative by Goldwater and refresh ourselves on the meaning of the word “conservative.” Remarkably, the definition is Ron Paul and his campaign is the Hope to Restore the Republic.

Liberty Must be our Goal

by Ron Paul, Dr.

May is an important month. This is the time of year when the average American stops working to pay their federal taxes.

Around the latter half of the month, the average American marks "Freedom from Federal Tax Day," which does not mean any of us are yet working for ourselves. Far from it. In fact, once we stop working to pay off our federal taxes, we start working to pay for the cost of federal regulations and state and local taxes. It is not until early July that the people of the 14th District of Texas begin working for themselves.

That is disgraceful, which is why I wanted to come to Congress in the first place. For someone to work six months out of the year only to pay the tax-bill is ridiculous. Think about what you get for your money: EPA agents to grab your land if they think there are endangered weeds on it, OSHA inspectors to shut down your business for "improper" labeling of liquid paper, and IRS inspectors to seize your bank accounts if you use the wrong color of ink on the tax form.

For some, the issue is merely "how do we collect the taxes?" and proceed to debate the merits of a flat tax, a sales tax, a modified graduated tax, and on. But rarely is the real issue discussed by the Washington-insider policy-makers. The real issue is this: Why does government need so much of our money?

The answer is not complex; government wants money because it wants power; politicians want your money so they can make decisions that benefit them politically and force you to do what they want, being molded into their images. And so government grows. And grows. As they take more of our money, the more we are forced to rely on them, and the more money they "need" to "provide." It's a hideous cycle.

Despite what they regard as an inconvenience of the Constitution, the federal government continues to usurp more and more power and privileges which are more correctly left to the individual and the states.

Make no doubts about it, the income tax is horrible, aggressive and must go. At the same time, we must end the appetite the government has for the fruits of your labor. To this end I have introduced House Joint Resolution 116, an amendment to the Constitution, called the Liberty Amendment. The Liberty Amendment has a long history, dating back almost 40 years, with more than a dozen supporters in Congress of its various forms, including several current members.

The Liberty Amendment, if ratified, will repeal the 16th Amendment, which authorized the income tax.

But the Liberty Amendment would do more. It would also prohibit the federal government from taxing estates and gifts, and at the same time require that the federal government withdraw itself, within three years of enactment, from all activities not specified as an enumerated power of the federal government.

It is true that liberty is not free, nor is it easy. But tyranny - even varying degrees of it - is much more difficult, and much more expensive. The time has come to rein in the federal government, put it on a crash diet, and let the people keep their money and their liberty.

Perhaps we will celebrate freedom from federal tax day in January, and "Cost of Government" day in February. It may not happen soon, but we must have a goal.

Our founding fathers agreed that liberty was a worthwhile goal. So should we.(end)

Han:

"Don't kid yourselves guys, Ron Paul stands for the wealthy and the corporate."

So corporate he'd allow competition vs what the government has a monopoly on and lower the prices of forced federal services like SS and Medicare.

"Who else will benefit from declining public health and literacy standards by cutting Federal funding ?"

State funding has more to do with that, federal funding is unaccountable. Most of it is going to wars and spending overseas, which he would get rid of.

"Who else will benefit from reduced consumer, pharmaceutical, investment and environmental regulation & protections ?"

UMMMM us? As for the reduced consumer, he would have nothing to do with that. The big pharma and government intervention is why sick ppl go to Canada for pills and Mexico to seek alternative treatment. Privatization would encourage competition which would lower prices. The Federal Government should have no hand in this, what is wrong with you?

"Like an 19th Century Mill owner, Ron Paul seeks to create a compliant, illterate underclass to provide cheaper labor for big business."

Baseless attack on him. Were you one of those "Children left behind"?

"The initial lower taxes is just a smokescreen for the worst excesses of corporatism, he's trying to buy you with empty promises."

You can lower taxes if you stop spending 15 billion USD a month on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Not = getting taxed for military industrial complex = more spending here. Argue this if you want but he will end the war on terror.

"Yes, you may pay lower taxes but you'll be poorer because you'll be earning less and paying more for everything else….."

The only tax he wants to get rid of is the Federal Income tax. There are thousands of other taxes. Everyone pays Fed Inc tax because everyone works. Yes, other taxes may go up, but they will be accounted for and you will have the choice to pay them via your consumption/necessities. They will go to your state and not a war you may or may not agree with.

Ron Paul is the only candidate in either party with a realistic world view. He is a political candidate that actually answers the questions he is asked. I don't agree with everything he says, but based on his 20 year voting record, I know he votes 100% in line with the Constitution, and I can live with that.

If you think that Americans are generally good, hardworking people and that Capitalism and the Constitution provided the blueprint that made the U.S. great; then Ron Paul is your guy.

Prediction: at least third in Iowa, and first in New Hampshire. After that, it is anyones race!

Ron Paul is surging in the polls and at the bank. He is the only well funded Republican candidate and will be able to run a national campaign while the others run out of money.

These people who are bashing Ron Paul are really dumbed down - they need to do a little research. Ron Paul is the fartherest from a poltical insider or corporatism pusher.

What I really think is that they are Democrats and they are scared because they see a truly universally appealing candidate to Republicans, Democrats and Independents.

Look out America - here comes Ron Paul - finally an honest candidate

Ron Paul has supporters all across the spectrum because he will reduce the power of the central government to the small role defined for it under the Constitution. People will be free to do as they will in their communities and their states, just as the Founding Fathers intended.

He will reverse the trend toward a bought-and-paid for Congress that spends way too much of OUR money alongside a dictatorial presidency with no regard for the rights of either our citizens (Patriot Act) or our prisoners (Torture).

Freedom is good. Vote for Ron Paul so that we can get our republic back.

Ron Paul is going to surprise a lot of people.

We are headed for a recession and unless we cut spending/federal government, and end the 'war on terror', all the Ron Paul haters are in for a big surprise.

Want out of private corporate wars like Iraq? End every worthless war (war on drugs, terror, etc.) that is bankrupting us? Abolish the Patriot Acts and insane (and costly) domestic spying?

Check him out.

I will vote for Ron Paul because I cannot vote for radical fringe like the Hillary /Giulani / Obama et al camp. Publicly supporting a war without a congressional war declaration which Hillary, McCain, Romney, Obama, Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee and the rest have all publicly done is clearly not good for their support as the numbers are showing in these candidates support. McCain and Huckabee are broke, Hillary and Obama are being funded by the drug companies and military industrial complex and misguided people who want government to pay for the homes and medical bills. These candidates are supporting this illegal war on freedom because they know it will help eliminate the entity called the "United States" which each one of these candidates except Ron Paul, despises. Council on Foreign Relations members which include almost every candidate except Ron Paul are THE warmongers of the world. War renamed into "peacekeeping" is VERY profitable, but its still WAR. Are peacekeeper bullets somehow transformed into "peaceful bullets" ? I don't think so. Renaming war to get support from ignorant people is merely a ploy. Its still war. These so called "candidates" on tv each night are nothing more that warmongers and that is why people are fed up with them and are recognizing that Ron Paul is a man who actually has integrity and THAT is what frightens Hillary, Obama and Guilani. If people are waking up enough to support Ron Paul, then the warmongers will be very frightened indeed, for their very jobs are on the line now with the spotlight of freedom being shined on their globalist crimes.

Yeah David,(2nd Commentor from top) We all know Ross Perot and Ralph Nader were so simialar. Talk the same, look the same, they even used to have the same name but one of them thought to upstage the other by changing his name. So Ron Paul is just like Ross Perot and Ralph Nader, except he is a 10 term congressman, father of 5 children (3 of which have grown up to be doctors), has 17 grandchildren, has been married to the same woman for 50 years, has a 100% constitutional voting record in 20 years as Texas, Congressman over a period of 30 years, has broken all previous campaign fundraising records twice in the same quarter this primary season, has never excepted one penny of lobbyist or special interest contributions, was drafted into Vietnam and served for 5 years in the Air Force as a flight surgeon, ran a successful medical practice in which he delivered 4000 babies and never once accepted government welfare programs as a source of payment for his patients. He instead offered services at a greatly reduced price or for free in the name of charity or worked out payment arrangements. He is ranking chairman on the congressional house banking committee, a student of Austrian economics and well educated in the economic teachings of Ludwig Von Mises of the Mises Institute. So yeah I'd say your spot on with your analysis there buddy.

Don't kid yourselves guys, Ron Paul stands for the wealthy and the corporate.

Who else will benefit from declining public health and literacy standards by cutting Federal funding ?

Who else will benefit from reduced consumer, pharmaceutical, investment and environmental regulation & protections ?

Like an 19th Century Mill owner, Ron Paul seeks to create a compliant, illterate underclass to provide cheaper labor for big business.

The initial lower taxes is just a smokescreen for the worst excesses of corporatism, he's trying to buy you with empty promises.

Yes, you may pay lower taxes but you'll be poorer because you'll be earning less and paying more for everything else.....

Maybe that's part of the allure to some of you, but for those who are unaware, check out the 1992 Ron Paul Political Report titled: "LOS ANGELES RACIAL TERRORISM".

Ron Paul is the only "true" hope for this country's future. We are crumbling from within. Our dollar, our sovereignty, our liberty, our independance are all being "sold out" bit by bit and there's not one other candidate that is refusing to "conform" to "get the vote" but Dr. Paul. PLEASE Dr. Paul... don't give up! If not Republican, than please Constitution Party. Once way or another, I want to vote for you.

"Unfortunately, Ron Paul won't have done anything about 9-11 either."

What exactly has GWB done about 9/11? Invaded the wrong country, thrust our troops into a senseless religious war, failed to focus on Afghanistan (where the terrorists actually were before our stupid incursion into Iraq, and the occupation that followed), and, generally made things much worse than they were. Here's the bottomline----it is a joke to even think that a Christian Crusader like GWB is going to spread "democracy" or "freedom" to Muslims. They have no idea what "democracy", or, "freedom" requires. Governments that place religious practices above "freedom" and "democracy" will achieve neither. There were more "terrists" in Saudi Arabia, which is where the hijackers came from, than in Iraq. Yeah, I think Ron Paul will be a great President (as anyone will, who succeeds the Chimp In Charge), and keep us out of these constant religious/civil wars. It is well past time to rid ourselves of our current, limited foreign policy idiots who seem to think diplomacy consists only of threats (and implementation) of military action. Ron Paul is also correct about Pakistan. He says qulit sending billions of our tax dollars to prop up a Military Dictator, who, by the way, GWB thinks is just fine. I guess he doesn't find anything wrong wity suspending Constitution. I'll bet GWB wishes he could do the same to silence his many critics. This is, and, has been our policy since the end of WW2 in this region . Let 'em figure it out themselves. I like his "let's mind our own business" talk. It is long overdue. We are reaping what we've sown, as anyone who takes the time to read the history of Iran, Israel, The US, and our intel services, the Mossad, and CIA and the installation of the Shah knows too well. It would be good to read Jimmy Carter's book that caused such a furor for telling the truth about the Palestinians. Ron Paul will also attempt to stop the recent attempts by the Bushcos to shred the Constitution. This country is a total mess, and, it can be laid right at the feet of Mr. 9/11 himself. No, I don't mean Rudy Giuliani, who is another fool who likes to think of himself as Mr. 9/11, overestimates his accomplishments as it concerns 9/11. So, don't worry---Ron Paul will be a way better Prez than GWB. (Heck, Ru Paul would do a better job than GWB).

Anyone who says Ron Paul is a joke or a kook or a crazy is also calling our troops all over the world a joke, kooks, and crazies because he gets more donations from the military than ANY other candidate!
Get with it people, you keep pushing the insanity of the status quo (same thing expecting different results..) propaganda and we can push right back with your same flawed logic but with the moral highground.

  Here, let me show you...

If you do not elect Ron Paul, the Islamo-fascists will win! They want us to drain our wealth into foreign crusades and cause a split in our country through petty squabbles. The Islamo-fascists don't have to ever fire another shot as long as we bankrupt ourselves and allow our leaders to sell our infrastructure out to foreign interests. An Anti-Ron Paul vote is a racist vote because as long as the status quo is continued millions of people (cultures, religions, CIVILIANS...) will die and the "World" will blame the American people for allowing it to happen. To allow ANY other candidate to win the election is to declare defeat, a cut-and-run attitude that would require us to continue into our downward spiral away from the Constitution. All other candidates are unelectable, have no chance (at helping America), and are a bunch of Long-Shots (to have effective credibility to lead America and the free world). Oh, not to mention the establishment Spammers of the Mainstream Media that repeat, verbatim, the same stories about Ron Paul but continue to promote the America destroying, Propaganda spewing, Constitution trampling establishment candidates. Maybe the military should be used on those ‘domestic enemies’, you think ‘Glenn’? Don’t worry, if Ron Paul is elected you won’t EVER have to worry about a cannibalizing government sending it’s stormtroopers to bust in your door because Ron Paul believes in the RULE OF LAW. Give Caesar (We The People) what is Caesar’s.

How did you like that one? Even if RP does not get elected We The People are not just going to flutter away and forget about this. We want freedom, and that is what you should want. The great thing about our country is we have 300,000,000 replacements for our leaders, not all are qualified but you can cut off our head with out consolidation of power and fear in the harts of the people. The saying “We have nothing to fear but fear it’s self” rings true today more than at any other time in our history. Thank you for your time. May the light of truth shine on you always. Peace.
