I like the revisionist history....Clinton was liked for a good economy - after the universal healthcare sponsored by Hillary was shot down - the Democrats lost the house and the senate - which became Republican controlled - Left Wing Bill Clinton became a "forced moderate" - anyone remember the perjury under oath?? (there are people serving jail sentences for that....not Bill..and he did lie under oath....but....I guess that all "depends on what is...is")

Hillary said - "We need a change in the Whitehouse"

So how will putting the Clintons back in be "change"?

If you dont agree with Hillary, just wait a few days - and she will flip-flop.

The only problems with your numbers Clarence swinney are the following:

When Clinton was in office we had a recession because after the DOTCOM boom went bust, we had nothing REAL to fall back on.

NAFTA (that he signed off on) caused a great deal of those high paying IT jobs to leave the country.

Gutting the military was why we had a surplus and while that was going on......

If we had such peace and were "loved" so much, why did we have the first WTC bombing, USS Cole and Khobar towers bombings (TOO NAME A FEW) all under his watch? Why did he treat them as criminal acts and not terrorist acts?

Why did he PERSONALLY sign off on Sandy Berger going into the National archives to destroy CERTAIN CLINTON ERA DOCUMENTS?

More minorities were imprisoned while he was PRESIDENT so I guess that means they were "better off"?

Do we need to even mention the scandal after scandal that saw many in the administration and friends of the Clintons go to jail, get disbarred and get levied heavy fines or how about the mysterious deaths?

How about Hillary stating that she can't recall 50 plus times in 42 paragraph statement?

Do we need this for four more years?

I don't know why the candidates are mentioning who they would have in their cabinet. None of these people are nominated yet. If it were September or October and there was a large lead over the other candidates in the race, then it would be reasonable to mention possible people and their roles. This mention of people and what they would do so far in advance is stupid. This precludes any possiblities of the mentioned people either dying or doing something so distasteful that they could not come back to public life.

Ms. Clinton did not say that President Bill Clinton would not play a role in her administration, she said he would not receive NSC documents because he would be the spouse of the President, as she was to him, which prevented her from having direct acccess to such documents. Mr. Edwards would be free to ask the former President to do anything he wishes him to do in his administration, if he becomes President, because he is not Mr. Clinton's spouse. Mr. Edwards does not appear to recognize the difference just as he does not appear to recognize the different role he would have to play in going after special interests, as President, which would be different from his role as a trial lawyer.

It would be funny for Mr. Edwards after being part of the group that strongly criticizes the Clinton Presidency now considers him to be indispensable to his administration. He strangely predicts the same role for the former President that Senator Clinton advertised during the first CNN debate for Mr. Clinton.

It is odd how much of Ms. Clinton's words and actions appear to be misunderstood. She is criticized for doing what politicians are expected to do when she makes a political decision to give the President conditional approval to declare war after all peaceful means have expired, and her political judgment is demonized. On the other hand, someone who never had to make such a decision, and who might have been prescient in opposing the war, made a decision without having access to the intelligence, and this is used to glorify that prson's political judgment that was the result of a guess, at best. since the intelligence information was not available to him. Mr. Edwards, on the other hand believes that apologizing, after the fact, makes him more principled and a better leader than Ms. Clinton who admits to an error based on incomplete knowledge at the time, but refuses to apologize for an eror made in good political faith.

Edwards/Obama and Bill Clinton for Secretary of State. Obama 2016.

With Edwards as president we can clear the corporate sponsored mine field that blocks us from real change.

Obama as VP can get extensive foreign affairs experience and ratchet up his knowledge of critical presidential responsibilities from the inside. Then Obama will be unstoppable in 2016.

This strategy not only gives us the White House for 16 years but Obama for 16 years.

Bill Clinton, for all his shortcomings, would be an incredible Secretary of State. He can go anywhere and meet with anyone. What a great mentor he would be for VP Obama.

I also believe the field of Democratic candidates is the best we've seen and should all be players in an Edwards administration.

Edwards/Obama 2008. Obama 2016. Bill Clinton, Secretary of State 2008-2016.

On Electability, Rasmussen match up polls show Clinton losing by a small margin to Giuliani and by a larger margin to McCain. Edwards ties Giuliani and beats every other Republican handily. Check it out:

Edwards is smart enough to know that promising to bring in Bill into his administration will not hurt his election chances. Despite this, Edwards' promise is not going to win him the Democratic nomination.

But the promise brings up a larger issue for the democrats. And that is finding and shaping their identity -- something that they could not do in the last election. Why are the democrats so tied to the democratic party of yesteryear? Sure, Bill Clinton was popular, but the democrats have to forge ahead if they want to be considered relevant. The good old days aren't going to come back magically if you keep repeating "Bill Clinton" over and over again. The survival of the democrats depends on them forging their own identity that looks forward, not one terminally wedded to the past.

I feel the only viable canidate we have is Obama. He has an outstanding plan to get our country back where it should be. He never accepted money from special interest groups and I like that and he is the only one who voted NO to the Iraq war. Hillary Clinton has the same ideas that Bush has in keeping our troops in iraq for the long hall with no pull out date. I simply don't trust Hillary Clinton; however, I felt that Bill Clinton was an awesome president. Having said that, I pray that whoever wins the election that they will get America back on the right track and stop being viewed as American monsters. Furthermore, I feel whoever wins the election can NOT do worse that George Bush!!!!! God bless America.

Edwards' team made an interesting choice to play up to the group of us that feel former President Clinton is a positive to any team. It's an obvious hit against Hillary. It will be interesting to see if Bill Clinton acknowledges this statement by Edwards and makes a comment like Bush 41 did in response to Bill's comment about traveling with Bush 41 under Hillary to cleanse the international community's memory of GW.

I would only hope that former President Clinton would do the party a fabulous service by helping the Democratic nominee, whomever that might be.

Read it again, John Edwards. She didn't say Bill wouldn't play a part in her administration, only that he wouldn't sit in on certain meetings only privy to the president and staff members. I'm sure the former President Clinton would be waiting anxiously to get your call to be a part of your fantasy presidency. Dream on. Since his terms ended, he has continued to be one of the most well thought of former presidents ever to govern the United States, domestically and internationally. What a loss it would be not to tap into that wealth of knowledge and world-wide respect. No matter what is said of the Clintons, this is the truth.

As the primaries get closer, it becomes clearer that Hillary Clinton is the person of the hour to take over in 2009. While Edwards and Obama are perhaps well-meaning, it's so very obvious that any of the so-called lower-tiered candidates would be more effective as president. No matter what is said to downplay experience, right now in our country's perilous, worldwide circumstances, nothing can take the place of the Clinton experience.

Boomerang:

There would be a big difference in Bills role is viewed by the public within the two administrations. In Hillary's Administration, Bill is in some circles already viewed as an anchor weighing her administration down, this gives Hillary less credibility than she deserves. Another perception is Bill being viewed as the "First Laddy", a mere title, but nonetheless this gives him less credibility than he deserves. In John's Administration, Bill would be viewed as more legitimate, he was asked to be there, a posting, and cannot be misinterpreted as a tag-a-long.

<i>Even though every candidate is doing well in their home state Edward is the only one struggling in his because of his same old same old Senate con that voters believed and voted for him and send him back home after one term.<i>

It seems we have a disgruntled Repug here, and as usual a little shy on facts. Edwards did not get re-elected in NC in 2004 because he was not running for the Senate then, I believe he was running with Kerry as the Vice Presidential candidate.

When you say he has "changed his position" over and and over again it is easy to make a broad sweeping generalized statement like this as you have, but as always there is a statement without facts. Edward's has been the most consistant of any canidate out there. Unlike Hillary who has changed votes for political expediancy, or Obama who just can't be bothered to vote more then "present" on contriversial topics, Edwards has and then had the guts to say he made mistakes. Gulliani and Romney have been for and against so many things so many times, it's like watching a table tennis tournament. Finally we are still awaiting to find out if Huckabee knows what the NIE is. Forget he pressdured the parole board in his home state to release a dangerous serial rapist who went out and raped and murdered again. Why did this staunch conservative republican do this you ask? Because the rape victim the rapist was originally convicted of raping was Bill Clinton's niece. Wonderful cast there.

Since Edwards voluntarily chose not to run for reelection from North Carolina in order to be John Kerry's vice-presidential running mate in 2004, it is disingenuous to suggest that the NC voters rejected him.

Furthemore, Eben, you accuse him of using his Senate position to make himself (more) wealthy. That is a serious charge, and unless you provide evidence, we have no reason to believe you - particularly since you can't get the story straight about Edwards' time in the Senate in the first place.

Ditto with your charge that he has changed his position - back it up, or we have no reason to take you seriously.

As for Edwards' current popularity in his home state, he has been back and forth with Hillary- not surprising, since she is the national front-runner. In general, he has run a close second to her, and at times has held the lead. The latest poll I can find - http://www.usaelectionpolls.com/2008/polls/pdfs/PPP_Release_120407.pdf - shows that as of 3 Dec, Hillary has regained the lead over Edwards in North Carolina, 31-26. Again, considering that she is the national front-runner, a gap of 5% (close to the margin of error) can hardly be called "struggling" - and Edwards' numbers have generally risen in his home state since August.

I think that the Democrats have a very good slate of candidates. Any one of them would make a better president than any we've had lately - since about 1980. I would support a fusion team in which they drew cards to see who would be President. The president could choose among them for his VP and cabinet officers for State, Homeland Security (please change the name of that department), Treasury, Treasury, Labor, and UN ambassador. Why waste all that talent?

On the Republican side, the pickings are much leaner. Every candidate is terribly flawed. Giuliani's experience as mayor was ok but not brilliant. He got some great coverage after the 9-11 event and that is the basis for his candidacy. Huckabee can only pull in the Bible vote and that's not enough to win. Romney has theological poisoning and hoof-in-mouth disease. Thompson doesn't particularly want to be president and no one particularly wants him to be president. A Ron Paul candidacy might end the Republican Party forever. If you put them all together you couldn't get one good man out of the mixture.

Edwards is a slip 'n fall lawyer. That means you're a fantastic salesman. But can anyone name a specific accomplishment Edwards has achieved that DIDN'T involve raising taxes for "programs" or for increasing welfare for able-bodied people who choose not to work? Other than "sitting on a committee discussing things", what qualifies Edwards for the Presidency?

(The kind of achievements I'm referring to are, for example, Mayor Guiliani's reduction in crime [by over 50 percent] and Mitt Romney's turning around a billion dollar enterprise from bankrupt to successful.)

Can anyone name two similar accomplishments that Edwards has made that don't involve raising taxes or making a new "law" or bill. Name something Edwards HAS DONE, not what he WOULD DO if elected.

So it's alright if Edwards has Bill Clinton in his administration, but not alright if Hillary has him in hers? Either way, he's a past president, so what does it matter if Edwards isn't married to him and Hillary is?

Once again a major candidate follows Obama's lead. Obama already said in the past that he wouldn't hesitate a second to find Bill and Al Gore a function in his White House. He considers them talented people. As a matter of fact, I remember Obama saying that he would have Hillary advising him as well. That's the point people, Obama will gather assistance from anyone worthy of contributing, republican, independant or Democrat. He doesn't have the ego problem has already caused untold damage to America and that is the exact inherent quality that will allow him to build a working majority to actually solve problems instead of the constant tic-tac-toe ties that have reigned supreme causing one issue after another to die in gridlock. Want Change? Do the math.

Edward is very phony con lawyer and not very smart politician but a good courtroom lawyer. He is like the weather ...He has changed his position over and over again due to his ambition to be a president.

If you really want to know Edward very well, then ask NC electorate who voter him just for one term in the Senate. He did nothing but accumulate wealth for himself and now preaches something so-called Epic fight with the lobbyist.

This guy is a smart con lawyer that uses the way he grew up poor to play on the weak to be on his side and he’s been successful and working for him for now.

Even though every candidate is doing well in their home state Edward is the only one struggling in his because of his same old same old Senate con that voters believed and voted for him and send him back home after one term.

If you want to know a good candidate in this election track where they've been and done and you will know where they'll be taking America, that’s how you see a real person. Edward prey on the weak who depend on their emotions to vote, but what they don’t know is Edward is not born to lead. You can disagree but it’s true and will bet anyone.

Last but not the least, every lawyer knows how the American electorate vote with their emotion instead of their head and Edward is dueling and using the courtroom strategy to become president and counting on that even though he could sign-off to take care of a sickening wife. If I was in his situation I will put my family first before anything else.

Edward...will never be president of America, never just because he doesn't look like one and won't be and he will try again and again because it is an ambition and not gifted with it.

He doesn't practice what he preach...So, those senseless electorate that sympathize with him are not using your head.

Bill Clinton is the absolute best diplomat, representative, effective power negotiator, friend-maker that the United States has had since Jackie Kennedy charmed the pants off Berlin and all of Europe, while accompanying her husband JFK in 1960! JFK quoted on film as saying, "I'm the man who accompanied Jackie to Berlin!"

So what if Hillary says that William Jefferson Clinton would not be invited to sit in on his wife's National Security Council (NSC) meetings for worldwide military and diplomatic strategizing? Ever hear of "pillow talk"? It's alive and well in every White House since Dolly "Don't forget the ladies" Madison.

Clinton has that same ineffable charm, unassuming yet brilliant and the best national treasure we could deploy -- whether for his spouse, future President Hilllary Rodham Clinton, or for any other president.

So that makes 2 candidates that want to leach onto Bill Clintons (in)famous reputation. Wow, great... 2-for-1 deal if you vote for Edwards or Clinton, you can get a Bill for free.

Lets keep looking to the PAST to solve the problems with the future. It worked so well for Bush II to grab oldies and stack them in his cabinet.

What a colossal hypocrit John Edwards. He says publicly that he would "prefer" that the ads didn't run. What a joke. He could make it VERY clear to his henchman that he didn't want them to run without ever meeting with that group and thus not breaking.

Hey, Billy would sure have a place in my administration. What an ego. What on earth makes Edwards think that Bill Clinto would want anything to do with his administration. If Hillary were to lose the primary Bill has much more important things to do that help out little Johnny Edwards.

Great idea from Edwards! He is my current choice; actually, he was my choice in 2004 as well. Why not use Bill Clinton's expertise, intelligence, knowledge and worldwide approval in the next administration, whichever Democrat wins that office? Great idea, John.

"I think it's unrealistic to think that President Clinton wouldn't play a major role,” Edwards said --- Mrs. Clinton has already said her husband would play a major role. What new news is Edwards suggesting?

I'm glad Edwards would ask Pres. Clinton to play a role in his administration. The U. S. needs someone who can play the world like Bill Clinton can after the mess GW has put us in.

John Edwards is a good man and electable- that will not polarize the country as others will. I really like the fact that he doesn't kow tow to the Council on Foreign Relations (the power brokers that determine what's "good" for the world). Mr. Obama is also a good choice, but for his lack of experience. It's a shame that Mr. Biden and Mr. Dodd are not looked at closer because these two are solid guys with tons of principle (Mr. Dodd stayed in Washington to stand against the FISA bill that the president is trying desperately to pass- you know the bill that would let AT&T (and other telcos) off for illegally wiretapping american citizens )). Personally, Ron Paul could use a balanced view because of late he only gets news coverage that often borders on libel. This can only indicates a message big media can't (won't) address.

Sorry John, she did not say he would NOT play a roll in her administration, she did say that he would NOT sit in on National Security Briefings. She did say she would use him to go around the world and try to undo the damage this administration has done. I can't think of anyone else who could do a better job of repairing our image then Bill Clinton. She also said he would be her advisor and confidant as she was to him. Of course he would play a roll in her administration. Why would anyone not want him to as intelligent and as well liked as Bill Clinton is. Unlike the present president, bush, who is probably the most disliked president in our history. Bill Clinton could get back tour status as a beloved country.

Why is it that Edwards and Obama keep talking about change and a corrupt/broken government and then do a complete 180 and say they want Clinton as an advisor?

Which is it? Either the Clintons screwed up in Washington or they didn't and if they did they why would you want Bill Clinton to help?

Neither Edwards or Obama have the experience needed to make a good president.

Hey Guys, Gals, & (Stupid Patriots) of America, etc,
For those of you who are doing "just fine economically" now, check out what FOOLS we really all are! Right wingers, Neocons, and All Americans could be "REALLY DOING JUST FINE" if not for what our wonderfull self serving polliticos have been allowing to be perpetrated on "US" the American public for decades! We're in total servitude & have been for decadws! Go ahead, I Dare you to go to this Link & Discover the Real Truth! Do you have the nerve to discover what kind of Gov't we really have? Go then. Just learn & enjoy, then puke figuring the tax money that has been "STOLEN" from all of us. Then copy & paste this link in all of your e-mails to start a grassroots effort to end this crap & reclaim our country. Go here for the real truth about our Gov't, Good ol Boys & Girls Club. (Dems & Reps) alike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ueEfRXZCVA
Go- Go-Go-, Ron Paul baby!! If you can pull out a miracle & get nominated, I won't have to "hold my nose & vote for Hillary. I'll Definately Vote for you, (the only Honest face running!) All the rest are a bunch of "self serving" Liars & Crooks! They're all = Dems & Reps, BEHOLDIN to Big Oil, Big Pharma, Humongus Insurance, lining their pockets, etc! Maybe we "thru - you" Ron Paul can save our country from all the rest of these Corrupt Power Hungry Politicos. Good Luck Ron Paul. I'm shocked to discover the Tyranny perpetuated on the American people for so many yrs! Needless to say these "powers to be" NEED a Grass roots movement as the ONLY way to even begin to put enough pressure on our "howdy doody" gov't (puppets)to feel the desire of the people to be able to cut these strings of sevitude that has existed for so long. I'm deeply commited to (getting this message out) thru the internet, as well as any other means I can figure out.

The only way Bill "Slick Willy" Clinton will play a role in your "White House" is if you paint yout curent house white.
