Protesters lined Huckabee's Iowa campaign quarters Monday.

Protesters lined Huckabee's Iowa campaign quarters Monday.

DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) – Anti-war protestors and Ron Paul supporters both kept Mike Huckabee from entering his Iowa campaign headquarters through the front door Monday.

Three people who managed to break inside — holding a sign that said "What Would Jesus Bomb?" — were arrested and led away, yelling and singing.

Around two dozen Ron Paul supporters outside chanted 'Legalize the Constitution.'

Ron Paul supporters are funny….in that "we won't call ourselves Libertarians anymore" kind of funny…

Jordon Sumner. Ames, IA   December 31st, 2007 4:58 pm ET

Before the storm of Huckabee cranks arrive…

None of the Paul supporters were arrested, and they distanced themselves from the militant anti-war supporters according to local authorities and campaign HQ. They were there to protest, but did not involve themselves directly with the anti-war protesters.

Yes people! This is our America!

Ron Paul 2008

Jeffrey Bubb   December 31st, 2007 5:14 pm ET

PLEASE get the story straight: Ron Paul supporters did NOT prevent Mike Huckabee from entering his HQ. Ron Paul's HQ is adjacent to Huckabees, and Pauls supporters stayed on their own side of the field.

A correction is in order.

Good - I wish I was there.

Mike   December 31st, 2007 5:23 pm ET

Awesome! It's about time people start making public stands against nut-cases like Huckabee and this ignorant administration. How can anyone in their right mind think that Huck-a-wanna-be has a clue about leading this nation? You want 4 more years of this same old crap!?

Lynn   December 31st, 2007 5:31 pm ET

I remember when Chelsea was a young girl when she went into the Whitehouse. Keeping that in mind, and her feelings that I am sure people respected, and certainly didn't want to hurt, I think that she, being the intelligent woman that she is, could have answered this little girl's question in a way, "that would not have invaded anyone in the Clinton family's privacy." Not too many points for Chelsea on this one!!! And this little girl's Mom is "still" going to promote Chelsea's Mom for the next President of the United States!!

Nicole Hearn   December 31st, 2007 5:31 pm ET

Sounds like a really intelligent bunch.
I hope Huckabee handled it with grace and a grain of salt.

Anonymous   December 31st, 2007 5:33 pm ET

Chelsea never speaks; she stands next to her mother and applauds but utters not a single sentence and doesn't even say hello. And reporters covering the campaign have been put on notice that Chelsea is not available to speak to them. An aide follows the former first daughter as she works the crowd, shushing reporters who approach her and try to ask any questions.

Can you teach your mother that trick????

Dan   December 31st, 2007 5:38 pm ET

According to MSNBC (who seems to have put some effort into this story) there were three peace protesters who blocked Huck from entering. The Ron Paul supports were rallying in front of Paul's own campaign headquarters, which happens to be next door. As a journalism student I think the misrepresentation of the facts of this story is shameful. If you are going to report something take the extra five minutes to write a complete story clearly indicating who did what.

Aaron K   December 31st, 2007 5:41 pm ET

Ron Paul's office is about 30 yards away from Huckabee's office and there are always people out there waving signs and chanting. I'd bet money that the Ron Paul supporters weren't there to protest Huckabee, but it makes for a better headline if you just say they are.

Brent   December 31st, 2007 5:45 pm ET

I don't believe the Ron Paul supporters obstructed Huckabee from going in, that was all the anti-war protesters. I assume the Paulites just wanted to get some media attention, but not cause people to arrest them (like they did with the anti-war protesters)

Mike, Fredericksburg, VA   December 31st, 2007 5:52 pm ET

Mike Huckabee supports efforts to reduce violence in Iraq, to achieve peace and stability. What do these protesters want - to let the suicide bombers have free rein?

As far as the supporters of Ron Paul are concerned - they seem to be lacking in their understanding of history. Ron Paul's isolationist ideas are nothing new. In the 1930's, many Americans had the same view as Ron Paul. Disillusioned with a war ("The Great War," now known as World War I), a large segment of the American population felt that if we just minded our own business and didn't get involved with overseas affairs, the bad guys would just leave us alone. That way of thinking went out the window when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and Germany and Italy declared war on the US a few days later. Isolationism does not prevent war.

Ron Paul supporters are nuts.

Iraq Marine 4 Ron Paul   December 31st, 2007 5:55 pm ET

Huckabee is a CFR scam. He can go to hell along with the rest of them. The country will not tolerate anyone other that Ron Paul….

Ron Paul head quaters are right next door….media spins it again

Charles Held   December 31st, 2007 5:57 pm ET

The Huckabee and Paul HQ buildings in Des Moines are next to each other. ONLY ANTI-WAR PROTESTERS AND NOT RON PAUL SUPPORTERS were arrested outside Mr. Huckabee's office. CORRECT THIS ARTICLE ASAP.

Anthony   December 31st, 2007 5:57 pm ET

I'm a Paul supporter and do not condone their actions. Obviously a bit of fringe is always around when freedom is at stake.

Jason   December 31st, 2007 5:57 pm ET

According to those who were present, the three who broke into the headquarters were not Paul supporters.

Ron Paul's HQ is next door, and when the media showed up, the people inside took it as an opportunity to wave signs for the cameras.

Guilt by association is not becoming of CNN and MSNBC.

TJ   December 31st, 2007 5:58 pm ET

Correction…anti-war protestor abstructed Huckabee. Ron Paul supporters where rallying in front of their campaign HQ's. Which is right next door to Huckabee's HQ. RP supporters had nothing to do with it.

Conservative Christian   December 31st, 2007 5:58 pm ET

Thanks for a guilt by association story CNN. I'd like to see some pictures before I believe this. It looks like the Ron Paul signs are very far away from the action.

Alex Libman   December 31st, 2007 6:00 pm ET

Way to go! Don't let those warmongering fascists breathe!

Brad   December 31st, 2007 6:03 pm ET

Get your facts straight, the Ron Paul supporters remained pretty much on their own property (their campaign office is next door) and did not block the entrance, only stood on the sidewalks. It was the anti-war protesters who were disruptive, led by a man who has been put in jail more than once for his unruly conduct. This entire debacle is not the fault of RP supporters any more than it is the press corps who were taking up space as well.

Josh   December 31st, 2007 6:05 pm ET

An official Ron Paul campaign staffer is reporting the anti-war protesters were not Ron Paul supporters.
Ron Paul's campaign office happens to be next door to Mike Huckbee's, so logically there would be Paul supporters in the vicinity, but they were not the ones who broke into Huckabbe's office.

Morgan Norfolk VA   December 31st, 2007 6:10 pm ET

Just what this country needs: a candidate who's getting protested before he get's to the white house. Huckabee is divisive and will do nothing to stop the partisan sock puppet show that serves as nothing but a distraction to the American people, and a waste of tax dollars, while Corporate interests sneek bi-partisan corruption past the American people through the back door.

Land of the scared, divided, and ignorant; and home of the corrupt. 8 more years!

Ron Paul supporters didn't block anyone, it was solely the anti-war crowd. I think you need to fix that.

Also: Later that dad, Huckabee tried to use a news conference to air his negative hit piece against Mitt Romney while at the same time saying he was above that. Huckabee is being a disingenuous weasel. The self-anointed "Christian leader" is a self-righteous phony.

Luke   December 31st, 2007 6:24 pm ET

It's consoling to see concerned citizens taking some risk in order to help end this war.

Greg Harmon   December 31st, 2007 6:26 pm ET

The Ron Paul supporters did not block the entrance way and none were arrested, according to people at the scene.

Jesus   December 31st, 2007 6:26 pm ET

You should point out that no Ron Paul supporters were arrested.

J2   December 31st, 2007 6:27 pm ET

You guys shouldn't report on false stories. True there were protesters, but Ron Paul supporters were not the same people… they were near this, which is why you are falsely accusing them.

J2   December 31st, 2007 6:29 pm ET

I'm seriously disappointed in this blog :\

I ask that you please edit this post! Someone from the Paul campaign said she was being interviewed by the networks to verify that Paul supporters were not involved.

James A.   December 31st, 2007 6:33 pm ET

"Anti-war protestors **AND** Ron Paul supporters?"

Gee this is a far different wording (which was ALSO incorrect) that what you reported earlier, which was that Ron Paul's supporters were not involved.

Did you happen to report that Ron Paul has his office in the same building, which doesn't make it all that odd that they were there?

You people are seriously becoming a joke. If we get Ron Paul elected, I am warning you right now: You will no longer get away with manipulating our politics with your obvious and blantant attempts and 'molding' a story.

Patrick, Denver Colorado   December 31st, 2007 6:33 pm ET

You know the easiest way to stop a growing political movement? When your supporters start to do stuff like this. How stupid. Would Jesus also sit by while thousands of Iraqi Kurds get gas bombed, and Saddam Hussien rapes a country?

Roger   December 31st, 2007 6:35 pm ET

Ron Paul supporters believe in non-violent protest. I find it very hard to believe that they would prevent his right of way.

David, Oregon City   December 31st, 2007 6:38 pm ET

To Ron Paul supporters and the other liberal fruit cakes who denied Governor Huckabee to enter his Iowa campaign office today; Shame on you!

Are you too stupid to know that your freedom ended at the point that you blocked Mike Huckabee’s freely to enter his campaign office? Give it up, Americas has worked to hard to support lawlessness at your level.

J2   December 31st, 2007 6:43 pm ET

I think CNN should seriously apologize (publicly) for starting a false story about Ron Paul. This isn't looking good for you guys…

Cameron   December 31st, 2007 6:43 pm ET

it has already been confirmed by Ron Paul HQ that no Ron Paul supporters got involved with that and none where arrested. Nice try though.

Who Would Jesus Bomb? Looks like a darn good question for Huckabee!

The constitution is "legal" and always has been. That is how 3 people were able to BLOCK Huckabee from campaigning!!! What seems to be illegal is Christianity! It sounds like 3 people had a huge problem with it. Why can we preach what we want to without it bothering anti-religious people to such degrees?? Huh?!!

Sandra   December 31st, 2007 6:57 pm ET

The Ron Paul supporters were NOT arrested. They stood further back away from the door.

Scott Collins   December 31st, 2007 6:57 pm ET

It is my understanding that no Ron Paul supporters were involved. Can you please fact check this?

cynic   December 31st, 2007 6:57 pm ET

Could it be that Huckabee's campaign is staging all of these events around his campaign to boost his support among conservatives? the whole subliminal cross thing accusations would help him win conservatives in that Huckabee is being attacked by liberal types… conservatives would rally around him…. same thing with this. conservatives will rally around him in his being "attacked" by anti-war protesters. I think this is very ingenious campaigning on his part… is rove behind him?

Brian Cox Auburn NY   December 31st, 2007 7:01 pm ET

Notice that there were no Ron Paul supporters arrested?
radicals will adopt any cause to get their cause heard, seems as they are picking a popular cause this time. Please clarify your report.

Looks like the tides are shifting in Iowa!

These Ron Paul fund raising numbers are lifting Dr. Paul into the top tier. He's in a virtual tie with Rudy and Thompson in Iowa, pulling even with Huckabee in New Hampshire and even beating Thompson in New Hampshire.

Maybe there just ARE enough apathetic voters this time to elect a candidate that isn't supported by the media giants and party elite.

ron   December 31st, 2007 7:07 pm ET

Legalize the Constitution……….heck, pretty soon they will be asking for amendments for free speech, religion or the press.

These Ron Paul supporters are full of energy and actually want a constutional government …………blame it on GWB,,,,,,isn't he trying to force that on the folks in IRAQ?

Brian   December 31st, 2007 7:13 pm ET

Even though I'm not a Huck supporter of any kind, this is just dumb.

Bart, Springfield   December 31st, 2007 7:13 pm ET

The Ron Paul supporters were out front of THEIR OWN CAMPAIGN OFFICE.

They had NOTHING to do with the people blocking Huckabee or the ones getting arrested.

Funny how the media doesn't bother to tell you that the Ron Paul office is nextdoor to the Huckabee office. Then again, it's not funny at all.

Meg   December 31st, 2007 7:20 pm ET

Geesh, can you write about something important like their positions on the issues.

Next you'll be talking about how Huckabee had toilet paper stuck on his shoe when he left the men's room and the mean Ron Paul supporters didn't tell him.

CharityAngel   December 31st, 2007 7:28 pm ET

You know, that is a good question. Who would Jesus bomb?

I guess he would take the position of peacemaker wouldn't he?

Wow, Ron Paul makes even more sense!

John Foster, Varnville, SC   December 31st, 2007 8:07 pm ET

That is an outright lie. Ron Paul supporters did not block Huckabee from entering. More media lies from CNN.

Nick   December 31st, 2007 8:07 pm ET

Wrong. Ron Paul's headquarter is next to huckabee's, so of course there are Ron Paul supporters, but they did never at any point stop mike huckabee.

JasonS   December 31st, 2007 8:10 pm ET

Come on. CNN is not doing their fact checking. The Ron Paul Campaign has their headquarters right next door.

The Anti-War Protestors, not associated with the Ron Paul supporters were the ones holding up Huckabee and were also the ones arrested.

Please quit trying to associate Ron Paul supporters with people who have committed the offense.

This is getting out of hand!

libertynow   December 31st, 2007 8:12 pm ET

Ron Paul's voting record makes him clearly the only person we can trust to send to the White House. Military Vet., Doctor, Statesman. He has no regret for anything he has ever said. NO excuses about raising taxes or flip flopping on the Life issue. He understands monetary policy and how to defend our country. Constitutional Government is really not that radical. Do not take anyones word on what Dr. Paul stands for but his own.
If you are not already in the Ron Paul Revolution and you are a Republican ask your self will your candidate take votes from Democrats? Libertarians? Greens? Constitution Party? In a close race these votes will count. Has your candidate supported amnesty for illegals? Abortion? Taxes? NAFTA? Warrantless Wiretapping? Welfare for Military Dictatorships? He has never voted to spend a dime of the Social Security trust fund or to increase his own pay after 10 terms in the congress. Take a look at his military endorsements, these are the real heroes not movie stars. Look at his family life read his amazing biography.
Ron Paul is the most honest and moral man in Washington and deserves your vote.

The support for Ron Paul results from American disgust that we have sold our democracy to the Corporate elite billionairs who have sent all our jobs overseas and left us to buy garbage made by slave labor in China. Who have mismanaged the war on terror so that we are about to crumble from debt like Reagan did to the Soviet union in Afghanistan. Who tell us that Social Security is not funded while squandering billions on wastefull foreign aid to countries that hate us. If Ron Paul was just a tiny bit less wacky sounding. he would be the next president Since that will not happen then please nominate Huckabee and Obama and prove to the world tht the USA is truly a democracy where the common man can grow up to be President.

Jim in Orlando, FL   December 31st, 2007 8:32 pm ET

Ron Paul's success on January 3rd will be an indication that his supporters won't fade away for a long time.

J.C.   December 31st, 2007 8:34 pm ET

Is CNN as biased and unprofessional as Fox? Ron Paul supporters stood peacefully outside. Anti-war supporters unaffiliated with Ron Paul stormed Huck's office and were arrested.

Please get your facts straight. An apology and retraction is in order.

Joe   December 31st, 2007 8:35 pm ET

Would someone please tell the Huckabee supporters its over, time to get real? He attacks Morons, offends Christians, gets called out on his tax record, likes to send illegals to school for free, and is instrumental in letting murderers out of jail. So when other campaigns call him out on this, he answers back there running a negative campaign. Then he calls off his own negative campaign adds today while he runs his latest negative add to reporters? I'm sure the Ron Paul sign holders were in there designated free speech zone. Don't paint them! Poor Mike. So misunderstood! So self righteous! Hallelujah

Brandon   December 31st, 2007 8:35 pm ET

Fade away? Doubt it. This movement is very popular and is only starting to pick up steam… Hold on folks, Liberty is coming.

John   December 31st, 2007 8:37 pm ET

I'm the meetup group organizer of the Des Moines Area & Central Iowa Ron Paul Support Group and I just got off the phone with Paul's Des Moines Headquarters and it seems CNN can't get it right. No Ron Paul supporters were involved and they did not block Mr. Huckabee from entering his office. Ron Paul supporters don't do that sort of thing. Yes, we'll go to other candidates' events and hand-out literature but we are not disruptive of the other candidates or their supporters from coming and going and speaking. Clearly, the anti-war protesters who entered Huckabee's office and were arrested are not Paul supporters. CNN should issue a correction immediately.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was law enforcement arresting other law enforcement officers who 'got out of hand'. In FACT, google 'law enforcement carrying rocks incite riot Canada' or something to that extent. There's plenty of videos for that as well. Regardless, it wouldn’t be the 1st time things like this are exaggerated to suit an agenda. Then again, there's some real weird people out there behind EACH of the candidates respectively.

Pastor Huckabee has smote his enemies wherever he goes. He has the full support of Evangelicals the world over. He was anointed by the Leadership to take on Goliath. He will smite the Goliath Romney on election day. He will smite the wayward nations who refuse to listen to his powerful word. With his mighty arm he will crush the countries who refuse to listen and bring them to their knees. He will be one of the greatest Christian presidents - perhaps as great as Jimmy Carter. Onward soldiers and lead the way to bring Pastor Huckabee a great victory today! Let him smite his enemies with a mighty blow! Oh, how happy everyone will be when President Huckabee puts Christ back into America!

Thomas   December 31st, 2007 8:57 pm ET

The Huckabee and Paul offices are right next door to each other and that Paul supporters with signs have always been up and down the streets around the Paul office.

Somehow that is not mentioned in the article.

It sounds like some anti-war protesters showed up in front of Huckabee's office with was also in front of Paul's office. On the street would have been the usual Paul people.

This seems to be a distortion, but I don't know the details. This just smells funny.

Tess   December 31st, 2007 8:59 pm ET

Huckabee is a phoney as Mitt, one is a mormon the other a so-called christian.
Sure glad I am voting for OTHER and none of the above, but he is a Republican, and one that will follow the law of the land. We The People will voice that on election day.

Joe   December 31st, 2007 9:21 pm ET

It was the anti-war protesters who caused a disturbance and sit-in, and were sequentially arrested.

CNN will make it sound like the Ron Paul supporters were the ones that were starting trouble. RP supporters are showing up at all candidates events and waiving signs, they are not the ones causing problems. And by the way, Ron Paul is just getting started. They are registereing a lot of voters in the republican party and they will turn out in larger numbers to vote in the primaries. The polls are only using voters registered at the last election (a reduced number considering the shakout of the republican party). The Neo Cons will only lose if they maintain control of a historically libertarian value based party. RP supporters will outnumber you and you will be forced to accept it or lose. We are dedicated to a restoring of power to the citizens by way of constitution and a government that is less repressive of its people.

If you don't think we already live in a fascist quazi police state heres a few;

1.) More people in prison than ANY other country in the world.

2.) More laws than ANY other country.

3.) A few pages on paper liberated this country from tyranny by way of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights. The IRS code is 60,000 pages of corruption and unconstitutional redistribution of national wealth. Then you have tort law. Can you wake up and live a day without breaking a law? Go directly to jail….

4.) Gee wiz, why are we in Iraq, altruism? NOT…Corporate Greed? Yeah…hope you enjoy seeing your son or daughter with his shiny new prostetics from an IED. maybe next time you'll just buy the oil instead of try to steal it.

5.) 5% of world population and we use 25% of worlds natural resources - think that will last forever?n How selfish and narcissistic can a country be, really..?

6.) Can you drive to work, turn in your 1040 without criminalising yourself? You are bound to break a law every time you do one or the other…

7.) Who gets all the Corn subsidies? ConAgra or poor family farmers?

PLEASE get the story straight: Ron Paul supporters did NOT prevent Mike Huckabee from entering his HQ. Ron Paul's HQ is adjacent to Huckabees, and Pauls supporters stayed on their own side of the field.

A correction is in order.

I was thinking about voting for Paul   December 31st, 2007 10:45 pm ET

Okay, correction noted. I was beginning to like Ron Paul and his supporters based on this article but apparently there's no reason for me to like him now that this correction has been made. I can find someone with more backbone to vote for.

It's interesting to read the remarks from people that condemn the Ron Paul supporters without reading the comments first. Reminds me of a childhood school lesson where the teacher instructed the students to read all the directions for a quiz before starting. The directions were long so most people disregarded the instruction and starting to work on the quiz. The last line in the directions said that if you had read all the directions you were to give yourself an A and disregard taking the quiz. The vast majority worked for the duration of the class filling out the numerous quiz questions.

I find a parallel with the Ron Paul supporters which I am proud to be one. I find that the Ron Paul supporters are the ones who have taken the time to educate themselves on the issues. They take responsibility instead of shirking it. There is no finer group of people in this country. My only wish is that the opposing supporters would spend the same amount of time and effort that the Ron Paul supporters spend reading about history, the constitution, economics and foreign policy. At the very least educate themselves on the fraud of the Federal Reserve as a starting point. It's a shame that so many people refuse to think for themselves in preference to being spoon all they know from the main stream media.

I hope that this gives at least one person pause that would consider voting for a candidate other than Ron Paul.

Happy New Year to All

Todd Schuller   December 31st, 2007 11:03 pm ET

FYI

As you may be aware. Peaceful anti war groups are infiltrated by government officials posing as anti war. These same tactics were used in CA. I would have to do some research but if I remember correctly the g officials involved were the violent ones to make it appear for media purposes that the group as a whole was engaged in the activity, which they weren't. The state ended up settling for a few million because of the gov conduct.

I wouldn't know this for certain but would check those who were arrested and verify.

Huck's been touting his Christianity all this time - then why won't he answer the simple question:

WHO WOULD JESUS BOMB, Huck?

Looks to me like Huck is Christian supremacist and a "Christianofascist"..If this guy gets elected, we'll be back to the middle ages fighting crusades and religious wars.

America already discovered the answer: Liberty, Freedom, and Ron Paul!!

David, Oregon City   December 31st, 2007 11:51 pm ET

OK Romney, time to put up or shut up! Mike Huckabee has asked you for a last one on one discussion before the Iowa caucus. Just you and him…. Are you ready to defend your allegations against Huckabee or hide under your desk?

Well as usual anyone with only half of a brain would pull stunts like trying to block someone from entering a building. Of Course we want huckabee leading this nation otherwise we will end up with someone who would either have relations with thier other wife(s), or someone who will continue to feminize the military further from where the democrat led congress left off from or maybe she will get a chance to cheat on the first man! or someone who will perhaps end up having a chocolate cabinet or chocolate congress where the white man will end up secluded on pacific islands.

establishmentdoesnotrule   January 1st, 2008 2:58 am ET

I hope Ron Paul supporters show up in droves on caucus day. FWIW, I have watched political coverage on the major cable networks and CNN has been the fairest. Fox constantly slams Huckabee, as does MSNBC. Poor John Edwards seems to be ignored unless he is being interviewed and Ron Paul has been totally ignored in an apparent attempt to marginalize his campaign.

Was it Rove who commented that politicians invent news stories? I can understand why candidates with less money would want to create media moments for more publicity and news coverage.

As for Huckabee's "floating cross," did you notice the triangulation of the three ornaments? Hmm….. what's that supposed to mean?

Michael Bloomberg for president. Now more than ever.

http://www.RunMikeRun.com

Larkin G. Mead   January 1st, 2008 5:25 am ET

I sincerely hope that the Huckabee campaign continues to rise above the divisive and desperate rhetoric of the Ron Paul supporters. Mike Huckabee is and has been fervent about uniting this nation, not dividing us. "A nation divided agailnst itself cannot stand"! Mike would welcome Ron Paul supporters to come over to his campaign because there are more issues that unite the Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee supporters than divide us.

It is imperative that both sides recognize that there is a real dark looming cloud hanging over the prospects of our country's last hope for maintaining and sustaining this Republic and our democratic principles. Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee supporters and all independents, "BEWARE"!

A movement is underfoot at this very moment to steal the election process away from the American people. Yes, you and I are about to witness perhaps the ugliest and meanest onslaught of "Special Interest", "High Powered", Heavily Financed" pirating of our electoral process.

The 'Unity 08″ group, who are meeting at Oklahoma University later this week, are determined to wreak havoc on our democracy. These folks, former Senator Danforth of Mo., former Governor Whitman of New Jersey, former Senator Sam Nunn of Georgia and others will be meeting with current Mayor Bloomberg of New York, a billionaire several times over, to form a THIRD PARTY that has the potential to steal the election away from the American electorate. All this will be done under the guise of unifying America by including both Democrats and Republicans, together, and they will spend billions of dollars to destroy our two party system.

In addition, the "Club for Growth", purportedly, a conservatove fiscally responsible watch-dog group, are spending millions of dollars to derail the candidacies of all our candidates, save two. Those two are Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, two of the most socially liberal and fiscally irresponsible candidates in the race for President of the United States.

Let none of us forget that we, the people, are the Federal Government and all of these candidates come from us and we elect them to serve as "servants" of the people, you and me! Mike Huckabee has not forgotten from whence he came and like-wise, Ron Paul has a firm grip on who these people are who hold the power over all of our heads. These powerful groups dicatate to all of us who our leaders will be through extremely sinister and well orchestrated positioning of the candidates that have been bought and paid for by their dirty money.

Beware! The Socialist movement, as espoused by Clinton and Obama-Leninist ideology is a death nell for America. If we become a social welfare state, our taxes will go through the roof and you can pretty much rest assured that the working middle class in this country will pay dearly. To pay for all of the social programs as espoused by Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama will require that all Bush tax-cuts of both the wealthy and middle class, will be reinstated, our military defense will be "gutted" as was done during the Carter and Bill Clinton administratons, leaving this nation vulnerable to terrorist attacks unlike anything we Americans have ever seen. Rest assured, the working middle class in America will see almost 50% of their pay-checks going to support social programs in the United States. By financially beating up American corporations is not the answer. Jobs will be lost, revenues will be shifted over to off-shore bank accounts and economic growth will come to a halt. Big Government will dictate our destinies.

If we are going to take back America, we, the people must resolve to be the 'Masters of Our Own House"! I recommend that the Mike Huckabee, John McCain and Ron Paul campaigns convene their own meeting/coalition to develop a strategy that will stop these "Special Interest" groups and the Socialist movement in this country from destroying our Republic and the democratic principles that have sustained us since our Declaration of Independence from the acts of tyranny, oppression and over-taxation.

This may well be our last stand. Let us, we the people, be victorious!

I've noticed that the Paul Supporters are pretty fierce about this 'WE DIDN'T PROTEST' Banner they're waving.

If he's against the war, then why the hell not protest? Just because CNN will look at you if you do?

Sure, his headquarters were down the street from Huck's. This proves either one of two things. A} Ron Paul supporters can't even find their own campaign offices, or B} They were justly protesting the war by being part of the crowd. I think it's A, myself…Haven't seen much in the way of brain useage in the Paul campaign.

Besides, I would find it just a wee bit creepy if three dozen people lined up outside a building and started chanting like a cult. It would be better if you just admitted they were protesting.

The Ron Paul Rally did NOT interfere with Mike Huckabee getting to his campaign office. They were not even on the same street that the front door of Huckabee's office is on, but were in front of the Ron Paul headquarters!

I don't believe the "who would Jesus bomb" protesters (who are not even affiliated with Ron Paul, BTW) actually blocked the door either. They DID, however go inside his office with a big sign!

How about some video proof that one of the Ron Paul supporters was nice enough to put on youtube…

Funny how the media doesn't bother to tell you that the Ron Paul's office is nextdoor to the Huckabee's office.

Youtube has better coverage. The Corp/Media loses credibility once again.

Ambrose   January 1st, 2008 9:02 am ET

Ron Paul is a clueless, senile fool, whose fantasies are even greater than those of his equally clueless, entranced, starry-eyed college boy / girl fans. Let's not make America an even bigger embarassment than it currently is by electing this crackpot.
Huckabee, despite his sometimes obstructive Christian faith, is a man of confidence, honesty and common sense. He is not a Bush "yes-man". Despite his Christian faith, he is realistic and knows how to deal with and fix real problems. He is an independent-minded Republican, guided by his faith, and has his own independent convictions about the problems of poverty, illegal immigration, and global warming, unlike other Republican groupies. He says he would even allow atheists in his cabinet.
Anyone in the 2008 field will make a tolerable President, except perhaps Romney and MOST DEFINITELY NOT Ron Paul and his cowboy-and-Indian, comic book politics. Although I am a mostly liberal Southern cynic, I have seriously considered voting for Huckabee in 2008. He seems to be the wisest, most authentic of the bunch.

Duncan, Richmond, VA   January 1st, 2008 10:24 am ET

"Ron Paul supporters are nuts."

You should be a reporter for CNN. Ron Paul supporters are generally well educated people. Many of them have never donated before, never attended a rally, never even voted before… but they have become so angry at what has happened to our country that they have mobilized behind a candidate who has the same beliefs as themselves.

In my opinion, Ron Paul supporters are TRUE Americans.. those that still believe in the Constitution and the original intent of the founding fathers. They are also people who believe that our current polices will be the downfall of this great nation.

Nuts?, no.. Angry?, yes .. were angry at the way the media has treated Ron Paul (this story is a prime example). We are angry that any true American would vote for any of the other candidates. We are angry at the erosion of our liberties, of our nation debt to fund a foreign war..

We are Angry that Americans care so little for our country that they would vote for someone like Clinton…

Jon   January 1st, 2008 10:27 am ET

Ron Paul is a phony conservative, just like Bush. He couldn't get anything done as a LIbertarian, so he's trying to hijack the GOP and turn it into the Libertarian party. His supporters are, by and large, crazy people who thrive on this unreasonable attention the media is giving him, and have little understanding of politics or respect for GOP tradition. People like Paul are dangerous, and anything good Republicans can do to disrupt his campaign should be done.
*Jon

Duncan, Richmond, VA   January 1st, 2008 10:42 am ET

Jon,
If you bother to research, you will find that GOP tradition is about small government, small taxes, freedom, states rights, liberty and to live your own life without government in your face. Ron Paul is the only true republican running.

Maybe you can let us know what you believe the GOP used to stand for and how it relates to Bush or the other Republicans?

Tannim   January 1st, 2008 10:51 am ET

So Huckabee gets blocked from his campaign HQ on a public sidewalk by a huge crowd of three anti-war protestors, and CNN blames Paul supporters. Huckabee calls the cops in typical cowardly fashion. Earlier in the day he held a press conference where he tried to eat his cake and have it too by claiming he wasn't going to do any more negative ads and then promptly aired a negative ad that he "wasn't going to air". How hypocritical!

Someone ought to tell Huckabee that "Enough is Enough" is a Libertarian Party slogan from the 90s, and it should be noted that Tax Hike Mike is no libertarian in the slightest…

So while Huckabee is claiming his opponents are being dishonest, he's actually being dishonest himself. I would expect honesty from a preacher, and I get this. No thanks! He's corrupted.

Meanwhile the Paul detractors continue with no substantive arguments, just namecalling, and CNN still gets the story wrong in what is either a deliberate smear attempt or just very shoddy journalism.

Is it any wonder why Dr. Paul continues to gain support with his simple message of Peace, Prosperity, Freeodm, and the Golden Rule?

Thomas Wells   January 1st, 2008 10:56 am ET

If Ron Paul isn't running in the General election, I'm not voting. It won't matter who wins the general as both sides are the same. And unless you posters are shills, you can't get a grasp on this. I hope this year you open your eyes to what is real.

Why anyone would pay 100,000,000.00 to get a 300,000.00 dollar a year job just tells me one thing!! Wake-up America and take the time to think Hitler said it's easier to control the masses of people then it is to control one person who can think on his own!!!!!

Sandra   January 1st, 2008 11:58 am ET

I just watched the YouTube videos of the event over at DailyPaul.com and it's clear that the above story is misleading. The Ron Paul office attracted more and more supporters next door to take advantage of the media presence, but they weren't anywhere near the Huckabee office door.

Doug Scherer   January 1st, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Fellow Citizens!
Where is your sense of enlightened self-interest?
Refuse to support any candidate that will not:
1.Stop The Iraq War. Recognize that toppling Saddam (the only force of stability in that Brit cobbled together nation) was only a not-that-clever PR campaign by the war profiteer politico class to get their precious dream of War Ad Infinitum. "George, this war thing is BANK!" Let Osama walk out the back door of Tora Bora for he is our raison d'etre.
2.Repeal:
The Patriot Act
The Warner Military Commissions Act
All other acts, regulations, or Presidential signings that have violated our Constitution and Bill Of Rights.
Recommission another truley independent 9/11 Investigation and if elements within our government were either complicite, refused to prevent, or were grossly incompetent in preventing the attacks; move to impeach, try and if warranted convict and either lead those responsible to prison or the gallows for their coup d'etat, which has been so far, successful.
Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich are the only candidates standing up to or in any way addressing this madness that assumes you can simultaneoulsy maintain a domestic democracy and a foreign Empire.
Ron Paul with the Constitution and our support will reel in the rogues. Dangerous but essential for our survival as a free representative democracy. Dangerous for the perps that is!

When did the killing of millions of people, unprovoked and without cause, become a Christian value? Hopefully, there's an especially hot place in hell for those who wear a Christian facade to commit murder.

Ian   January 1st, 2008 2:16 pm ET

Ron Paul is nuts? Maybe I missed something but I thought a politician following the rules was a good thing. If following the constitution is such a crazy idea these days, then perhaps we should just throw it on ebay or put it in a museum.

Maybe all I need to change my mind on Ron Paul is for someone to tell me the positive things the federal reserve, IRS, department of homeland security, and the department of education have done for us. I would have thought that printing our own money interest free would be the way to go. I would have thought the FBI and CIA could be revamped as opposed to creating a whole new department, and I also don't know of any teachers that approve of no child left behind. I can't find any positives which is why I have a hard time accepting that we have to foot the bill for this stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrjecBEX1HQ

CHRIS CURRIE   January 1st, 2008 3:39 pm ET

According to MSNBC (who seems to have put some effort into this story) there were three peace protesters who blocked Huck from entering. The Ron Paul supports were rallying in front of Paul's own campaign headquarters, which happens to be next door. I think the misrepresentation of the facts of this story is shameful. If you are going to report something take the extra five minutes to write a complete story clearly indicating who did what.

Heath Whiteaker   January 1st, 2008 4:04 pm ET

I feel pretty much the same way a lot of people feel about huckabee. His record speaks for itself.

His record of raising taxes, promoting and rewarding illegal immigration, being soft on crime (pardoning over 1000 convicted criminals, 12 of whom were murderers), etc show that he is very liberal. He is a very accomplished liar.

This is why Ron Paul is the best man for the job…. look at his record. :)

I think CNN has picked the cadidates they think you should vote for in 08. Only a handfull of candidates are running I guess. WHO's RON PAUL CAN ANYONE OUT THERE TELL ME??

Tiffany   January 1st, 2008 8:31 pm ET

To Mike in Fredericksburg, VA…the bombing of Pearl Harbor happened in WWII, not WWI. We had every reason to enter WWII after being attacked, but not WWI. Some historians believe that the attack on Pearl Harbor may have been an indirect result of our intervention in WWI. (Granted, not all believe this, but it is an interesting thought.)

Ron Paul is not an isolationist. Perhaps we should look up terms in the dictionary before we use them as “facts.” Ron Paul believes in and encourages free trade among all nations and open communication. What he is against is pre-emptive wars and intervention in the affairs of other countries. Why should our government be wasting our military assets (the LIVES of our soldiers and our tax payer dollars) to police the world? Why is it our concern when two countries have a dispute? Or some foreign country has a civil war? Answer: It isn’t. No American would appreciate an outside country coming in and telling us how to run our affairs and yet that is exactly what we are doing all over the world, every day.

The pre-emptive war strategy and interventionists policies of the past 40+ years have often resulted in the American tax payer funding both sides of disputes. That’s just pure stupidity. We fund Japan’s defenses, prop up Israel’s borders, give millions to Saudi Arabia, for what? Our country is bankrupt and borrowing billions EVERY SINGLE DAY, and yet we are giving away money left and right to countries that neither need us nor like us. Our bridges are falling down, Social Security is a joke, the education system is a failure, our borders are basically non-existent, the dollar is steadily declining, inflation is on the raise, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum….and yet both of our political parties are more concerned with telling the rest of the world how to live (or gaining power in Washington).

George W Bush says he wants to spread democracy and freedom to the people of Iraq, while he strips away American liberties and freedoms left and right. And he has done it with the help of the Democrats and Republicans alike.

National security is dependent on secure borders. ANY politican who claims to be tough on “terrorism”, but who supports amnesty of any kind, is a liar. (Amnesty by another name is still amnesty). Protect our borders, enforce the laws we have in place, spend OUR money at HOME. I love my country and I hate what I see it is becoming. That's why I am voting for Ron Paul. It’s not isolationism but it is common sense.

Tiffany   January 1st, 2008 8:44 pm ET

I'm quoting one of the above comments:

"Pastor Huckabee has smote his enemies wherever he goes. Oh, how happy everyone will be when President Huckabee puts Christ back into America!"

SERIOUSLY???? And you say Ron Paul supporters are nuts?

Robert Braam   January 1st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

There were the three of us who risked arrest to highlight the contrast between Reverend Huckabee’s proclaimed beliefs and his actions. (Hypocrisy should be challenged before an election. In all presidential candidates.) But there were many others of us outside the building. Mr. Paul’s supporters were not involved in our action. But they were there. They have a right to be.

Ron Paul will get less than 1% in the primaries. He comes off as weak, whinney, and snively. If we don't kill the extremists over there, we will surely be killing them on or own streets. I am a proud US Air Force retiree and voted for Bush 41 and 43. Ron Paul is a democrat in republican clothing and would probably run as a liberal lefty demo but surely knows the conservative base in his Texas district would send him packing. Tina is on the mark. She and I will get the last laugh as you RP supporters waste your time and money on a lost cause. We need a strong leader in the white house like Fred Thompson (if he only had the charisma to pull it off).

i HAVE READ ALL THE E-MAILS AND FRANKLY IT SADDENS ME THAT WE SPEAK WITH SUCH DISRESPECT FOR THOSE WHO ARE BRAVE ENOUGH TO WANT TO LEAD OUR COUNTRY.
ALSO, THE DISRESPECT FOR JESUS WHO LOVED US SO MUCH HE GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US SO THAT WE WOULD NOT HAVE TO SERVE WHAT WE TRULY DESERVE -SPEND ETERNITY IN HELL. ALL HE ASKS IS THAT WE COME TO HIM AND ASK FOR FORGIVENESS. YOU WANT PEACE, YOU WANT ALL THINGS HE WANTS US TO HAVE…HOWEVER, YOU TOLD HIM YOU DID NOT WANT HIM IN OUR SCHOOLS, COLLEGES, AND GOVERNMENT. SO BEING THE GENTLEMEN THAT HE IS, HE HAS ALLOWED YOU TO DO IT YOUR WAY. NOW, WE HAVE MURDERS IN OUR SCHOOLS, JOBS ARE GOING OVER SEAS, PEOPLE ARE LOOSING THEIR HOMES. GOD WILL NOT BLESS A COUNTRY THAT IS DISOBEDIENT TO HIS WORD. THERE IS NO MAN THAT CAN ACCOMPLISH WHAT GOD CAN DO BY CHANGING THE HEARTS OF MEN AND WOMEN.
ALSO, THE GOVERNMENT OF OUR COUNTRY IS SET UP ON THE PRINCIPLES OF THE BIBLE. IT IS UP TO US TO LINE UP OUR LEADERS TO GOD'S SPECIFICATIONS.
OH, BY THE WAY PRAYER DOES WORK. PRAYER IS TALKING WITH GOD AND HIS SON JESUS. HE SAYS WE HAVE NOT BECAUSE WE DO NOT ASK. ASK JESUS INTO YOUR HEART AND YOU WILL BE COMPLETE AND SEE WHAT LIVING IS TRULY LIKE. (PEACE, LOVE, JOY AND SO MUCH MORE)

GOD, I PRAY GIVE US A LEADER THAT LISTENS TO YOUR VOICE AND LEADS AMERICA WITH INTEGRITY AND HONOR. AMERICA WILL BECOME A NATION THAT WILL LEAD IN SHOWING THE WORLD YOU ARE THE ONE WHO MAKES THE DIFFERENCE. AMEN

I HOPE ALL OF YOU WILL BE AT THE POLES TO VOTE AND ENCOURAGE YOUR FRIENDS. THIS IS A GREAT PRIVILEGE THAT WE DO NOT WANT TO TAKE FOR GRANTED. PEOPLE ARE AT WAR TO HAVE THIS PRIVILEGE.

David said it best:

"This is just plain innacurate. Yes, there were Ron Paul supporters outside the RON PAUL HEADQUARTERS NEXT DOOR but they were not by any means blocking Huckabee's entrance. The anti-war protesters, however, were, and they were the ones that got arrested."

And a thought from my brain:

The media is "kooky" and out of touch with reality. This story is so innacurate the sign in the photo says "Who Would Jesus Bomb" and the CNN's story misquotes "What would Jesus Bomb"

Get the facts straight.

Both sodapop and the paul people needed to use Huckabee's Headquarters because without the use of the media that is following Huckabee these people are nothing. The only way they can get attention is to disrupt other media events. Nobody wants to listen to them or the media would have given them air time.

I was at the Iowa Ron Paul Campaign Headquarters, (which happens to share the same building with Mr. I lost 100 pounds), while the anti-war protesters were being arrested. It is a shame that this article makes it sound like my fellow Ron Paul supporters and I were associated with another group's protest. Dirty, dirty politics once again by the media. It should be known that Huckabee's campaign office is tiny and under-staffed and only has two people working the office, unlike the Ron Paul headquarters which routinely has twenty- fifty supporters working around the clock everyday.

mitt romney is not government insider he is a corporate insider. his co. bain capitol does business with the carlyle grp. one of the leading war profiteers. he owns home depot with them and is buying clear channel comm. with their help. romney is the corporate side of the government problem. he is the one that the bush and friends have helped make huge profit. he is a greedy mother.

huckabee is a bill clinton style tax and spend democrat. he uses God to get votes but all I see is a sadistic liar. I guess he will be the one looking for the razor blade.its sad
that he is a media creation while Ron Paul has had work hard for every vote.he is getting the nod from the polls which are wrong. when you look at the other characteristics you see who these people are 79 percent think bush has done a good job. thats funny I thought 3 quarters of all Americans did not think so.

its was the media who propagated the idea that Ron Paul was crazy or a nut job and his supporters too. well thats how they used to discredit people in the Soviet Union.
since the big media in this country has both the old Soviet Union and the East German secret police propaganda directors working for them no wonder the media in this country has taken a turn for the worse and has started shaping the news big time.

its sad in America you can say what you want when your with your friends but go to Washington and try to change things thats if they do not arrest you. freedom is almost gone. every one laughs at that Florida college student but he was arrested
for speaking his mind whether you like what he did or not. I dare anyone to do anything.

Jive Dadson   January 2nd, 2008 12:46 am ET

Why does CNN discredit itself like this? Haven't the old media figured out that people can now check these things out for themselves? The whole thing is on YouTube. It would make more sense if CNN did not allow critical comments here. I'm puzzled.

Huckabee's and Ron Paul's offices are right next door to each other, so the presence of a few people with Ron Paul signs is hardly surprising. The protesters were not carrying any Ron Paul signs. They associated themselves with Jesus, not a presidential candidate. No one blocked Huckabee from entering. His bus stopped there, a couple of suits exchanged words, and the bus drove away. It's all on the web for all to see.

SpinMeister   January 2nd, 2008 12:56 am ET

This article is spin all the way. I watched the video, the protestors let the cops lead them away like sheep. Also you can't see any Ron Paul supporters blocking the entrance.

Jeff from West Virginia   January 2nd, 2008 1:25 am ET

Can't you people tell what's going on?

CNN is campaigning against Ron Paul and they are going to try their to make him look bad, even if they have to use false information.

They are getting desperate folks!

This makes me want to worker harder for him!

Ron Paul supporters didn't block Huckabee of course. Nowadays we get to verify this for ourselves:

To label Ron Paul as an Isolationist is the most lame charge yet.

Since when does "In God we trust, all others pay cash" equate to Isolationism?

Me thinks those suck ups who worship the Welfare-Warfare State are a wee bit confused, or have nothing better to say and have to lie at this point. Take your pick.

Why not admit Huckabee is broke and his Nixonian destruction of computer data upon leaving the governor's office in Arkansas is just more proof that we have another sociopath wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross to get into a position of power where he can do the most damage?

Need more proof? How about admit Huck's son who hung a dog needs Dad around home more often and should spend less time running for office?

Brad   January 2nd, 2008 9:49 am ET

If ANYBODY kept Huckabee from entering his headquarter it was the Mass Media gathered outside his door. The Ron Paul supporters were gathered at the office next to Huckabee's, well clear of any H'bee activities. Might as well blame it on H&R Block down the street….!!

david cheney   January 2nd, 2008 9:53 am ET

I watched two complete videos of the incident and one thing is clear: The reporter is lying!!
At no time did any Paul supporter hamper the Hucksterbee. Dr Paul's supporters were, in fact, around the corner.
It seems to be a sickness with journalists today. So few are capable of reporting the facts. Perhaps it's time to 86 the lot of them.

Deane   January 2nd, 2008 9:59 am ET

Dear Chief,

it looks like you haven't been looking at the poll numbers in about 6 months.

According to DES MOINES register latest IOWA polls Ron Paul is at 9% tied with Fred Thompson and above Gulliani, that's right, Ron beats Rudy. Get used to the headline tomorrow.. even CNN's own poll has him tied with Gulliani at 8%.

By "mainstream" projection he'd come at least 4th in Iowa, i'm betting third.

Best thing for you is to educate yourself, apply some logic, and maybe you will see why we are so screwed up.

Ron paul is a democrat? is that why he

never voted to raise taxes.
never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
never voted to raise congressional pay.
never taken a government-paid junket.

And he Voted to cut Government spending, secure our borders with real immigration reform, no amnesty.

Is that why he votes to eliminate abortions and wants to overturn Roe V wade (if you dont know this case, please google)

Tell me Chief, is this a democrat platform? Since when did the constitution became so "democrat"?

Peace chief.

james   January 2nd, 2008 10:24 am ET

again Communist News Network distorting what really happened with Ron Paul supporters in this event….but you should be doing your research:

Mike Huckabee recently named Richard Haas (the President of the CFR) as his advisor on foreign policy. CNN's WOLF BLITZER asked "Who are your principal foreign policy advisers, Governor?" Mike Huckabee responded: "Well, I have a number of people from whom I get policy. I'm talking to Frank Gaffney, I talk to Richard Haas.."
So what does Richard Haas believe in? Here's an article below which was written by Haas for the Tapei Times. (hyperlink below)It basically states the Bill of Rights and Constitution should be given up in favor of a cooperative world body run by elite consensus. (so what are your views now?)

It is amazing how uninformed some of these people can be about Ron Paul's position. suggesting he is an isolationist is absurd. he is strictly for free trade not managed trade. He is against wars for NATION BUILDING. He is for our sovereignty not for North American Union. No doubt these are party people who put blind faith in a political party. I am sure they have never heard of the Bilderbergers, Council on Foreign Relations, Tri lateral Commission and other Secret organizations influencing our government. And these people vote. No
wonder our country is in the sorry state it is. I guess anyone who is for following our constitution and our sovereignty is a nut case.

George H.W. Bush called the Huckabee supporter type "the extra chromosome crowd" ,so how could they get their story straight? Ron Paul supporters did NOT prevent Mike Huckabee from entering his HQ. Ron Paul IS the peoples' candidate.

Power Under vs. Power Over—
Jesus (the real one) would never bust into someone else's property. He made like He was going to go on when He arrived at the home of the two men from Emmaus knowing that they desperately wanted to keep talking to Him,but waiting for their invite, not wanting to force himself on anyone. On the other hand, twice in His Father's house,He took out a whip and violently overturned the moneychanger's tables (the Federal Reserve money scammers of their day).Of course, He had a right to do that,it was His property, and they were making a mockery of it. "My house shall not be made a house of merchandising !"

Something has been really bothering me; I'm seeing two kinds of Christianity manifesting in our country. It's even manifesting in the canidates running for office. These two types are at two opposite poles from each other. You've got power under people and power over people to quote Gregory Boyd. There's a disturbing brand of power over Christianity speading over America that says we are going to force our agenda down your throats. If you don't like it, too bad because we"re right! Jesus said,"The greatest (person) is the servant of all.'It's not just in politics either.I've been in churches that had this attitude.Arrogant, conceited,"We pastors and elders are always right ,because we are in authority.Just do whatever we say and even if it is wrong, it will be all right." We refused to bow down to them.We refused to do what we knew was wrong. They
threw us out of "their" church. It was an honor to be thrown out. Ron Paul is a Christian, but he'll never use the n
