Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

INDIANOLA, Iowa (CNN) — He may be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but Superman can’t caucus.

Actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh is better-known for his role as Superman, but Sunday night he made a cameo appearance on the campaign trail, speaking on behalf of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Indianola, Iowa.

Routh says he is "sad" that he can't caucus any more because he no longer lives in the Hawkeye State, but he says he's "excited" by Obama's ability to unite the country. He also says he likes that Obama is not taking money from lobbyists or special interests.

Routh says he hopes his visit will empower people to caucus for Obama.

Routh is a former fashion model turned actor. He appeared on several television series before being cast as the title hero in the 2006 film Superman Returns.

Obama is an inexperience dimwit. He really has NO CLUE when it comes to what it really takes to run a a Govenment.
Hillary Clinton was meeting world leaders when Obama was still smoking pot in College.

The next Obama girl?

Damon Albarn   December 31st, 2007 8:55 pm ET

Guess who LIED to the American people about his tawdry little affair?

That's right, my HUSBAND.

I'm Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

The heck with Obama and Routh, a bad senator and a bad actor, they really go together don't they?

Jake, California   December 31st, 2007 7:14 pm ET

Don't mind the Obama haters now, they are angry that Superman came to the Obama camp. It just hurts them that we get the greatest of endorsement…We are sorry, its not our fault. It just happens that we [yes we... Obama and us] make sense to smart and successful people which means we are great for the job since our ideas make the most sense.

Yes and that's a big YES. We want Spiderman, Batman, Shrek, The terminator, the last man on earth[ie Will Smith]. We want Micky Mouse, Tom and Jerry..

Why, they are all Americans and even if their vote is just one each, we welcome them.

So you Hillary folks, go gather around your old lady and start planning on how you'll comfort her because it's about to get ugly and stressful because the numbers that will start pulling in this week won't be fake poll numbers, they will be real results.

We are coming…

Hershel   December 31st, 2007 6:07 pm ET

OBAMA you are our SUPERMAN, you have our vote and support, send the Hillary back to Arkansas so she can play with Jennifer Flowers in the sand box. GO OBAMA___GO OBAMA……

Obama is the one! It's Camelot again! In my life time a chance for me to be engaged in the political process with a president that I can trust.

Edwards is a good man, but his anger decries his character. He is a sweetheart, I know he is honest and articulate, and right. He would make a great VP. I think Obama's presidency would have a real involved VP. Everything would be open to the public, on line.

And Clinton, what experience…oh ya…she was married to a Governor and a President , she failed to get power behind her health care attempt. Her husband had brought disgrace to the office, she said nothing. Not even that she was human and embarrassed. We waited for a true word from her, knowing that she wanted us to trust her. But don't forget she is the one that brought the whole White Water Case up…it was her money dealings., and what happened to the White house lawyer that "committed suicide?" ….and what about having an expres. in the White house doing what? Entertaining the spouses of the heads of state…oh gesh…The Writer's strike will be over…they couldn't even write how funny these situations could be. Something for Sat. Night Live, perhaps….what a joke.

Now…if Obama and family are there….dignity, calm grace and reason and judgement with a good healthly sense of humor…and we can breathe again knowing that our President is in charge not some dictator that bush has become…torture, really? Don't get me going…

Obama for President….he is the one!

Marian   December 31st, 2007 5:42 pm ET

Wheb Obama started this journey, he was biracial – then one day he became black. What next? I really liked him – but ….

Frank Robinson, can you substantiate the heresay?

Brad, Stockton, CA   December 31st, 2007 5:27 pm ET

How exciting… another endorsement by an actor; Id' certainly better review my plans now that Superman has endorsed a candidate. Give me a break; endorsements are the crutches of those who are incapable of thinking, and if Brandon Routh is after the 12 year-old comic book reading demographic, I've got to tell you something thatHollywood apparently neglected to remind you of… they can't vote for another one to two administrations.

norm san diego   December 31st, 2007 5:24 pm ET

Six months ago the name Obama was unknown to most Americans. Hopefully it will eventually return to the unknown. The whole Demo slate is enough to make me visit the vomitorium; I wish that were not so because I detest Bush.

As the least of several evils I hope Edwards is the guy; at least he knows what he's doing.

James   December 31st, 2007 5:06 pm ET

More ignorant people that don't know what they are talking about. Anything to bring down the monument of change because its just too scary. First off anyone can beat the Republicans. You could put Brittney Spears in there and she'd get more attention that these so called "candidates" the Dems are running against now. It's not that your worried about who is going to face the Repbulicans. It's that people are scared of what Obama stands for, and that scares A LOT of people especially the people with alot of money who are running this country into the ground for their own short term gains and profits. I just hope that there are enough people who are tired of the way things are and who long for a country with ethics closer to what our founding fathers intended.

Vote for a Change
Vote for Obama

A fashion model and actor definately presents the best credentials of whom to decide to cast a vote for as commander and chief of our armed forces.

Obamas camp welcomes all, young and old. Young and fresh minds is what is needed in the white house.

When the pack of lions go on a hunt, The seniors of the group are very greatful to the young that do the hunting yet share with the old or chronologically gifted.

Young needs old ,and old needs young.

Obama can win and he can utilize both young, and senior advisors.

Obama in 08 and please for those that associate Obama with terrorist groups,

STOP DRINKING THE SWAMP WATER IN THE BACK WOODS!!!!!!

Bottled water, clear your mind and mouth.

Obama in 08

THIS IS REALLY SILLY, SPENDING SO MUCH TIME DEDICATED TO WHO IS ENDORSING A CANDIDATE AND PRIMARILY REFERRING TO A ROLE THIS ACTOR PLAYED IN A MOVIE……..HE IS AN ACTOR…….WHO IS ENDORSING A DARN GOOD CANDIDATE……..
ANY NEWS ON BRANDON WOULD BE BETTER………….
BECAUSE HE PLAYED SUPERMAN DOES NOT MEAN THAT IS REALLY A VIABLE REASON TO BELIEVE OR DISBELIEVE HIM.
HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A CHANGE……LET'S REVIEW OBAMA'S POLITICAL RECORD, HIS VOTING RECORD WHILE IN OFFICE……..AND THING THAT REALLY MATTER POLITICALLY……….
HE DID NOT SUPPORT THE WAR IN IRAQ……….
HE SPEAKS ABOUT THE TRUE NEED TO REPAIR AMERICA, MY PRIDE IN MY COUNTRY IS SHOT ALL DOWN THE TUBES AT THIS POINT………
CAN I BELIEVE IN ANY OF THE OTHER CANDIDATES……
AND AS FAR AS THE EXPERIENCE THING,, I DO BELIEVE THAT HIS EXPERIENCE IS ADEQUATE AND ANY COMPETENT PRESIDENT WILL HAVE A STAFF THAT MAKES UP FOR ANYTHING HE IS MISSING.REMEMBER APRESIDENT MAKES THE FINAL DECISION, BUT ANY PRESIDENT WORTH HIS SALY WILL HAVE COMPETENT PEOPLE AROUND HIM AND NOT JUST YES MEN
BENT ON TAKING OUR COUNTRY TO RUIN LIKE OTHER WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS

Garris   December 31st, 2007 4:11 pm ET

All those things you write about Gulliani you should investigate where he got the money and power to do them… MOST of that including his crime bill came from the Democrats like Joe Biden and the bills that were passed by them….. I wish more people would put aside the ideology and look strictly at facts…. So what, Obama doesn't have "experience" playing "god" like so many others up there… When you get right down to it, look at what those that did have power accomplish…. NOTHING for the middle income families that are now being broke by more taxes and such. I've never understood how a party that doesn't stand YOU makes you vote against your own self interest….. CRAZY…..

I'm an independent… I wish more people would leave the parties and make them ALL (parties) work for it. Forget listening to "FOX" and "CNN" and watch CSPAN. Then you'll understand what's really going on…. Watch it for yourself – stop letting someone else TELL you what you should think… It's crazy, when you watch CSPAN and then watch one of the channels mentioned – you will see just how much "SPIN" is actually being put on the issue by BOTH sides…..

Do yourself a favor, get it FIRST HAND…. become informed…..

mario   December 31st, 2007 4:09 pm ET

What I like about Obama, is he has fresh ideas, and appears to be innovative in his political thinking, i am so tired of this old boys network that has ground our country in this quagmire. Everything is in flux with the current administration. Even the fresh Dems in the congress and senate are still doing the same ol dance as always. As afar as experience in office, don't give me our former NY mayor as an example of experience… sounds too much like the same ol song…
So pls actually listen to the candidates and make your decision based on your belief in their ability and willingness to fight for the Citizens of the US, i say this bacause so many times the Republicans have said one thing and done exactly the opposite…even when they had no opposition in the house or Senate..to slow them down,,, think about it….
No the Dems are a slightly different matter, overall i feel the are no where as United as the Republicans have been and this makes them a weaker party as a whole……they spend too much time dodging being pigeon holed instead of standign up for their positions. I believe Obama will stand up even in the face of adversity and stay true to his service for the American People (all American people)……….

Obama NOT BLACK
(so what if he was) let's disect all candidates ethnic background then, oh sorry I mean color, why just HIM. I want to know why he is being called black and why the others aren't called tan or beige or whatever shade they may be at the time, (because Summertime some people head for the beach and tropics to get DARK, suntan lotions made billionares). He may have less mixture of ethnic backgrounds than you, check you family tree….oh yea, I forgot it doesn't matter if it doesn't show in the skin tone. So your secret may be safe…this is such a waste of time, I don't know why I am even posting….

Obama SAME GENDER
as all other candidates except one. He's a man, a person, a human, a father, etc, a non hater, non racist, oh don't forget he's highly intelligent unlike most who are posting here, and GUESS WHAT those posters/bloggers are probably your co workers who grin in your face all week and then post their simple minded coments/hatred here under another name, not all but I do not have time to single out the real dense/dangerous ones.

Obama VOTE FOR HIM or don't, your choice, freedom of choice, don't hate, get your facts straight before you blog. Don't take what others say and think it is fact and post it here. Know what you are talking about, the facts, just state the facts. Be kind, Unite, don't accuse canidates of not being able to unite when you won't even unite…no details, you should know what the word unite means…Happy New Year

William Z. Ft. Lauderdale, FL   December 31st, 2007 3:19 pm ET

I don't get the whole Obama thing. Another relatively inexperienced politician trying to get elected to an office he's not capable for w sales pitchs of a "New Day" , "Unifying the Country" etc. etc. Sound familiar?? We hear these same lame sales pitch every election from 1 Tell- You- What – You Want-To Hear candidate after another!
Once the Republican machine gets in gear, It'll tear Obama to shreds! Let's face it.. He's an unrealistic, feel-good but very weak candidate.
IF you Don't want more of the same & another Republican in the White House,
IF you truly want to win the coming Presidential election, Then you have to nominate someone who can & will win… & That's Clinton w Edwards as VP.
Anything else will fail.
After all… Look what they did to Kerry! After all…Look what they did to America! They actually got a President reelected AFTER he Lied & manipulated us into a War & then failed to win that War! Bin Laden Loved it!
Use your brains & don't set us up for another failure.
CLINTON w EDWARDS ….. To Win !!!
BTW, Happy New Year!

John   December 31st, 2007 3:09 pm ET

As far as Obama getting the "youth vote" – you can forget about that: they turn around and go home when they see they have to wait in line with "old people". Obama has spent way too much time lying about his Democratic rivals – to hear Obama tell it, they are all just closest Republicans. The only thing close to "civil rights" that Obama was involved in was a scheme to get federal grants to rehab houses – and that has led to criminal charges for Antoin Rezko – the man who sold Obama a parcel of land abutting his $1.6 million mansion. Obama is mostly a man who has spent way too much time this early in his life writing books that extol – Obama! A legend in his own mind.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK   December 31st, 2007 2:54 pm ET

PREDICTION — HILLARY WILL GET THE NOMINATION – AND WHY…..

* NOT BECAUSE OF EXPERIENCE – I dont think being fist lady counts, if it does then maybe Chelsea should be vice prsident

* NOT BECAUSE SHE IS RIGHT ON THE GRAVE ISSUES — SHE IS DEAD WRONG – her vote on Iraq war / her vote on the RESOLUTION Iranian Guard being terrorist – which is an obvious Zionist resolution.

*NOT BECAUSE SHE IS THE MOST QUALIFIED — SHE IS NOT — JOE BIDEN HAS MORE QUALIFICATIONS – SO THAT ARGUEMENT IS A JOKE…

FACTS ARE !!! SHE WILL WIN BECAUUUUSE THE SYTEM IS CORRUPT AND SHE IS BEING BACKED IN HER CAMPAIGN BY THE MAJOR HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY AND THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX — THESE ARE FACTS THAT ARE NOT REPORTED IN THE MEDIA — GEE, I WONDER WHY….

Julie - Albuquerque, NM   December 31st, 2007 2:24 pm ET

I will state this AGAIN – do self-inflated celebrities really believe that just because they say so, I'm gonna vote for their chosen politician? COME ON – get off your own pedestal. I'm Democrat but I'll vote Republican before voting for Obama. How's that for all your celebrity endorsements (including what's her name, oh, yeah-Oprah)!

Phil From Kansas City, MO   December 31st, 2007 2:20 pm ET

MY GOD, why are American's so STUPID. After reading these comments, I'm starting to think the government need to invest more money in these schools because the amount of dumb comments I've read inregards to Obama is a cry for help.

How can you mud-sling a guy you know nothing about. A guy who drove a beat up rust bucket after college. A guy who took a 27,000.00 a year job after Harvard to work in the Ghettos of Chicago. This man has no family ties in politics and has worked hard to get where he is and the best you idiots can do is throw mudd at someone trying to achieve the American Dream.

Well that tells me a lot about the people of the country I love. There are so many faults of the other candidates and the reason most of you don' like OBAMA is because there isn't any dirt on em', face it, its the truth. You will always tear down something you don't understand or just plain ignorant to.

Its time for America and its people to just…….WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris, Baltimore, MD   December 31st, 2007 2:09 pm ET

Is it just me, or do the Hillary supporters sound like the right-wing nut jobs on Sean Hannity's message board?

I'm a Dem, through and through, and I'll be the one of the loudest supporters of the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is. But these right-wing tactics of Hillary's supporters really turn me off.

I just prefer a new direction with either Obama or Edwards. I still think Hillary is great, just not as great. Plus, Obama and Edwards have a better chance in the general. Let's face it, 49.999% of the country absolutely hates Hillary. That's a tough obstacle to overcome.

Nita   December 31st, 2007 2:05 pm ET

I know I know what Clinton can do!!! She can have a concert with Madonna and Striesand. And, maybe Rob Reiner can MC.? Obama's campaign is something like out of a comicstrip. Amazing that some people honestly support this man. The best way to describe him "empty suit" That's all he is a guy wearing an empty suit. I am backing someone I know can turn this country back around. Ms. Hillary Clinton. I love to listen to this woman speak. The is the pillar of strength.

Fresh man rookie Obama continues to be a threat to national maturity.

Obama with his big ego and little experence continues his up hill battle for the democratic nomination.

We all know we need a canadate who can beat the republicans. like hillary or Edwards.

Mike, Austin Texas   December 31st, 2007 1:55 pm ET

Superman cannot caucus but apparantly misinformed and fearful people can. Why is it that people love to complain about the current state of affairs that our country is in but yet when it comes to stand up and put your vote where your mouth is with a real chance to make a difference and make a change they take a step backward rather than forwards? Hillary is old government. The old way. Is she competent? Yes, athough her inability to stick to what she says draws at least my concern. But the real question is will she make real change and that answer is no. Her ideas and views of politics are strong in how we got things done before they will not stand up to where the world is going especially in the growing competitive global arena and I mean that on all fronts, education, economy, military, health, jobs, etc.

Obama is not a bunch of lip service. He has real agendas for change. Is he lacking in experience? Perhaps but that depends upon what "experiences" your talking about and what has the previous politicians "experiences" done for our country? How have they moved it forward?

If the best you have is to talk about how having the name "Hussein" makes him a muslim or that hes black and only interested in minorities, or that he's too nice or inexperienced, I would ask you why it is you have nothing but excuses when it comes to choosing a candidate with a real chance at making change that is drastically needed in this country? Is that the best you got for trying to mask your own fears?

It's time for positive change. The world is growing and we need to grow with it as a leader to set the precedent for a country our children and our childrens children can be proud to live within and feel safe with a real opportunity to succeed.

-Obama 08.

What a mockery this is. I agree with X from Madison there are so———– many stupid people in this country. I don't agree with the people that are knocking Obama's name or religion (which ever it may be?) I personally think Obama is a joke and a bigger one for thinking he has a chance. The person to follow Bush into the whitehouse will have to be one of strength. That would be Clinton. Whether some like it or not she brings more than her to the whitehouse. She brings one of the most popular presidents in our history back in with her. God bring us back the country we had before Bush destroyed it.

Launi   December 31st, 2007 1:47 pm ET

I am amazed at how dumb some of these comments are! We are really concerned about the Name of the president, and the fact that he is 50% Black and 50% white. Who cares! I hope this is not the same America of many many years ago, filled with ignorance and hatred. I would hope we have grown and can show the world that we can genuinely look at the candidates as equal human beings and just vote in the way that we feel is best. Not based on utter nonsense. All of the candidates have different valid points and good records in some things and not in others. Pick the candidate that stands for the things you believe in…Period!

D'Angora   December 31st, 2007 1:39 pm ET

Wow!! he played Superman in the worst and least successful Superman film ever. His public endorsement shows what an ego maniac this guy is. A never was celeb trying to push his views on others to get some publicity for himself. Oprah couldn't help Obama, but the guy who only teen age girls and maybe gay guys (who mostly support Clinton) is gonna make a huge impact. Get over yourself!!!

Jack Snow   December 31st, 2007 1:37 pm ET

Funny how the press all but gave Hillary a double mascetomy for using a southern accent in one of her stump speeches but didn't pass comment when Barack used his "in da hood" voice when he said "a black man named Obama running for president needs hope…"
Git me to thinking how the press is terrified of taking this clown head on. The last think this country needs is a tepid press afraid to confront a president in fear they are not PC compliant. The press is our last bastion to the truth and I don't want that compromised because they frightened their criticism would sound racist. Barack is treated with kid gloves and its shameful. I once had a political science professor who served in RFK's atty gen office. He said that JFK would march his prostitutes through the oval office
in full view of the press corp and the press said nothing.
They were in awe of him. I'm afraid this rock star image Barack has will make him the teflon prez. And thats a check and balance we can't risk.

Linda   December 31st, 2007 1:33 pm ET

I am so glad that Obama can have so many rich people to stand by his side. Wonderful, don't you think, but where are the poor people of this nation? Where is the little boy standing on the street corner holding out his hand for a few dollars to take to mom for bread? the Man who slleps on the street under the box he found in the alleyway? Yeah, We need someone just like him. He believes in money, standing goer his "right" not to stand for anything that America stands for. He stands for saying no to the flag, to God, to anything that you just don't believe in.

Well, personally, I don't think anybody really knows what they believe in any more. They've been told every thing is alright as long as that's what they want and it feels good.

Our country is messed up!

In a Country as blessed as the United States, its very pitiful that in this day an age, there are still quite a lot of stupid people.
– And get this, Americans are probably the stupidest lot in any Western Country.
– If at this stage, you find it prudent to resort to the same ol negative, mud-slinging attacks, you're pathetic and you need to go to school
– His middle name is Hussein; so what? Does the constitution not prevent a religious test for our elected officials?
– ROME fell because its people lost their moral compass and also because the people were so stupid, misinformed and not smart enough to know which is which.
This country will fall if we do not insist on education – especially for all this morons who suddenly think Barack is somehow connected to Osama because their last names rhyme. My God, people are stupid in this country.

tunde   December 31st, 2007 1:09 pm ET

Washington does change people. Four years ago, Obama wouldnt engage in negative campaign but not now, after four years in washington.Obama is a smart and good man but I respect Hillary more for her scars (from the republican attack machines including Karl Rove) and still standing and standing tall after over 16years. She is very smart, very experienced, very resourceful and very tough.Better still, Clinton-Obama democratic ticket is landslide election winner and what the nation needs.

John in NH   December 31st, 2007 12:44 pm ET

Obama has interesting and thoughtful things to say. If there is hope for this country to ever be unified, at least as far as the moderate, normal, inquisitive and mildy educated people are concerned, Obama may be the only candidate that can pull it off. The problem may be that the harm inflicted on this country over the last 8 years has gone too deep to ever be healed. There may no longer be room in the current debate for words of peace, tolerance, or unity. Look at the words in these comments – what do you think? Are the views expressed the thoughtful views of concerned citizens, or simply more of the same divisive rhetoric churned out by candidates, dwelled upon by the media, and spit out by an angry and frightened public?

Jimenez   December 31st, 2007 12:27 pm ET

What a joke. Obama is making this race is joke. First Oprah and now an actor. And, from I hear not a very good one. I don't understand Obama nor for that matter care to. It concerns me that there are still a few people out there that think he has a chance. I wish this was all over so he can lose and go home. And, from what we hear never ever run again per Michelle. Good riddance.

JJ, CA   December 31st, 2007 12:20 pm ET

How many of you supporting Obama notice that media has already abandoning Obama and rallying around Edwards all of a sudden? Democrats should careful enough to see through this right-wing conspiracy. All they want is to stop Clinton, and it doesn't matter to them whether that person is Obama or Edwards.
Also Bloomberg is considering running as a third party candidate if the democrat nominee is either obama or edwrads and republican is Huckabee. This shows what kind of a weak status they give to anyone other than Clinton.
Republicans hate Clinton, at the same time they fear her. They know that they can't mess with the Clintons. We democarts should understand this challenge and work to send the strongest candidate Clinton to the front.

Seam, Philly PA   December 31st, 2007 12:13 pm ET

A bunch of idiots on this post talking smack about Obama. You people need to get a clue. This man is the most gifted candidate right now, hands down. Period. I know it's hard for most people to accept a brilliant black man, but ya'll need to fall back.

Kathy Farmer, I agree with you 100%. This country was found under the Christians principles no matter how they try to twist it. We need to speak out as our rights are being violated. Do you think a Christian will get to become a president in S. Arabia, Iraq, Iran or Indonesia? The answer is no because the countries were found under Islamic fundamentals. I am a black person who is angry at the extent that the Democrats have violated our existence. Democrats are dividers and poverty exploiters. It is necessary we remain poor so they gain votes, the same way it is necessary that we have discrimination so Al And Jesse can demand our $. DEMOCRATS exposed. If they win the Latinas are going to get more power and they could care less for African Americans. WAKE UP America, quit singing we hate Bush all day long and see what he has one to protect you. i disagree with him 50% of the time nut the times that I agree with him it is justified. This is one Nation under God and not One Nation under Socialism.
*No to Welfare
*No to big Government
*No to abortion……40,000,000 children are killed every year.
*Radical Islam will not rest, until all Christians are executed
*No more Pork Barrel spending
*School Vouchers should be in placed.
*See the promises Hugo Chaves made, they are the same Dems are making.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Just to say America needs a new fresh stat with Barack who represente at this
time the man for the change we all need. With good judgement, new idea,a
little experience and plus his staff advisers, I strongly believe that Obama will
be able to administre very well. America needs someone like Obama 1/2 White
(mother) and 1/2 Black (father).Dont forget that without looking for unity in the
Nation nobody will be able to do something. I respect all candidats whom are
doing the best possible at this campain. They are all providing the good things.
However, in my opinion I think Obama is the man for now. I hope that the rest of
you will take a moment to think as well as Obama is the right candidat for 2008.
Superman has good judgement to see what it is possible for the future of America. Good luck Mr Obama. Happy New Year to you, to your family ,to your staff
to America and the rest of the World.

be able to administre very well.
I hope that the rest of
you will take a moment to think as well that Obama is the right candidat for 2008.
Superman has good judgement to see what it is possible for the future of America. Good luck Mr Obama. Happy New Year to you, to your family ,to your staff
to America and the rest of the World.

Both Edwards and Clinton backed the Bush regime and yes, the Bush failed policies are coming back full circle to haunt us now. terrorism is very real. Clinton and Edwards chose the wrong guy, the wrong policy, the wrong strategy.

Obama has said Pakistan/Afghanistan were the real dangers and recent events have proved he is far more intuitive to world events than Clinton or Edwards.

Obama is now. Edwards and Clinton are old school. Go Obama.

JoeFromLA   December 31st, 2007 11:54 am ET

i love how people articulate their comments here when degrading Obama. Whats even more funny is how conservative republicans argue about Obama's ability to take the helm of the country however these jokers elected Bush to office. The man can even speak proper english yet you elected the man to the most powerful position in the world. Good Game to you all. At least Obama isnt infected with the disease of greed and swayed by special interest groups. Get your heads out of the sand and vote for change. Whether is be Ron Paul or Obama, time for a change.

Kim, Dallas, TX   December 31st, 2007 11:51 am ET

Another thanks to Don in Houston. I get tired of the biased scripts of some of the posters who take no time to know what candidates really stand for. They just decide that they don't like a candidate (who knows why) and then just keep the rhetoric without sound facts going. If people took the time to get to know Obama, they would find a candidate that can pull political parties together to work for the good for all. His work in Chicago is so telling. How many candidates would take a low paying job out of college to better the low income area of south Chicago? Even when given offers of seven digit incomes. How many would have put off going to Harvard to help others? There aren't many who care so much about the less fortunate and common person. Obama has passed much legislation, created quite a bit more, and has the countries real interests in mind. I am so tired of the government as it is currently being run. It's time we elect someone that truly has the heart and soul to run a country, and who will not be lead by corporate interests or lobbyists.

Go OBAMA!!!

Another Hollywood character expresses support for Obama. YES! And its the guy who played SUPERMAN. If Christopher Reeves were still alive he would be supporting Barack Obama as well. Can't wait for the Hillary Campaign to spin out their own hero endorsement. I know who it will be be…Lynda Carter who comes to Hillary's aid.

Who? Lynda Carter? Who? Lynda Carter? Who? Lynda Carter? The woman who played WONDER WOMAN in the 1980s.

All this celebrity backing is foolishness. Either you have it or not. Obama talks good but has done little , Check out what he voted on in the Illinois Legislation and his lack of voting in the senate. His number one priority is to be president and will say and use who ever to get there. He said H. Clinton uses Bill and his years in the White House and Obama has Bill Clinton's people on his team giving him advise. So what does he really have on his own is a lot of talk. Didn't our now President ride on the coat tails of his fathers administration because he had no experience of his own?

Paul, Kissimmee Fl   December 31st, 2007 11:24 am ET

I hope Obama does get the nomination. Republicans will tear him to shreds. Oprah, Superman, and the black muslims can't help him. If this country needs a black president, it should be Powell, or Rice. At least they wouldn't use their skin color or gender. They would definently get my vote. Besides, who could trust a man who'll not say the Pledge Of Allegiance?

Damien   December 31st, 2007 11:11 am ET

You all know superman isn't real, right? Just checking. This is really stupid. However, Superman does have a lot in common with most of the front runners of the 2008 Elections… they're all fiction. Fighting over which is the lesser evil is a dumb, endless battle. As you stand in line for the polls in 2008, I hope that you have come to the realization that your opinions mean nothing compared to the greater good and the health of our great nation. It has been ravaged by ignorance, racism, greed and poor leadership. When you push those buttons, or punch those cards—I hope you hear the cries of ALL those in need of a better system, a better America and not just the echoes of your own petty beliefs and faiths. Lose the selfish attitude America, and WAKE UP! This country — this world — is in need of our collective 'reality check.'

Go 'whoever is willing to make this world a better place' in 2008.

Phil From Kansas City, MO   December 31st, 2007 11:08 am ET

OK, I WANT EVERYONE IN THIS POST TO REALIZE SOMETHING.
ALL OF THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS SEEM TO HAVE A GOOD IDEA OF OBAMA AND SEEM MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THE ANTI OBAMA POSTS.

GESH, JUST GOING THROUGH SOME OF THESE POST MADE ME REALIZE JUST HOW STUPID SOME AMERICANS CAN BE.

THIS IS A BLACK MAN WHO'S TAKING A CHANCE AT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, BEATING OUT ALL THE ODDS AND THE BEST YOU CAN DO IS SAY HE'S MUSLIM OR MENTION HIS MIDDLE NAME OR HIS NAME IN GENERAL. C'MON, YOU HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN THAT. BUT TELL ME THIS, WHAT DOES HIS NAME OR HIS CHURCH HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? SERIOUSLY.
THE COMMENTS I'VE READ SOUND LIKE FEAR. FEAR THAT OBAMA HAS A CHANCE, FEAR THAT OBAMA IS A GOOD CANDIDATE BECAUSE IF HE WASN'T, THEN YOU IDIOTS WOULDN'T COME UP WITH ALL THESE DUMB THINGS TO TRY AND THROW DIRT IN HIS CAMPAIGN.

THE NAME OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS CALLED POLITICS NOT SMEAR. QUESTION THE MAN ON HIS politics, NOT HIS RACE, RELIGION OR HIS NAME. HE WAS BORN RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA AND TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HIM IS BEING UN-AMERICAN PER OUR CONSTITUTION.
LET THE MAN RUN HIS CAMPAIGN, IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIS POLITICS, THEN LET IT BE KNOWN AND TALK ABOUT IT, BUT DON'T DUMB YOURSELF TO THE POINT TO WHERE OUTSIDERS SEE OUR COUNTRY AS MINDLESS CHILDISH IDIOTS.

I'M A SUPPORTER OF BOTH EDWARDS AND OBAMA AND I PRAY THAT OBAMA WINS THE ELECTION WITH EDWARDS AT HIS SIDE, AND IF OBAMA DIDN'T THEN I WOULD WANT OBAMA AT EDWARDS SIDE.

I DON'T LIKE HILLARY BECAUSE OF HER POLITICS AND WHAT SHE STANDS FOR. SHE HAS RUN A DIRTY CAMPAIGN WITH NO CLASS, SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE SHE CLAIMS SHE HAS AND FIRST AND FOREMOST, HER HEALTH CARE POLICY IS horrible AND ITS PROOF THAT SHE TAKES MONEY FROM LOBBYIST BECAUSE SHE WAS APPOINTED BY HER OWN HUSBAND IN 1993 TO BASICALLY ESTABLISH A CALL FOR A UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AND WHAT HAPPENED? THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS SHUT HER UP WITH MONEY AND THAT’S A FACT. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS REALLY HAPPY WHEN SHE HEARD THE NEWS OF HER PLANS AND TILL THIS DAY SHE WONDERS WHAT'S GOING ON…SEE NOW THESE ARE MY REASON FOR NOT RUNNING WITH CLINTON. PERSONALLY SHE MAYBE A GOOD WOMAN AND I MAY LIKE HER BUT POLITICALLY I DON'T LIKE HER. SHE REMINDS ME OF THE FEMALE VERSION OF BUSH. ACT NOW, WORRY ABOUT IT LATER. I'LL TAKE INEXPERIENCE OVER THAT WAY OF THINKING ANYTIME.

SIMPLE AS THIS, OBAMA AND EDWARDS HAVE RUN GOOD CAMPAIGNS THUS FAR, GIVE OBAMA HIS CHANCE, IF HE WINS THE NOMINATION, HE CAN’T DESTROY THIS COUNTRY NO MORE THAN WHAT BUSH HAS. IF YOU WANT TO DISKLIKE OBAMA, DISLIKE HIM FOR HIS HARDWORK HE DID IN THE GHETTOS OF CHICAGO, HATE HIM FOR HIS CIVIL RIGHTS WORK, HATE HIM FOR BEING A COMMUNITY MAN AND A MAN OF UNITE. BUT DON'T HATE THE MAN BECAUSE OF HIS NAME AND HIS SO CALLED INEXPERIENCE BECAUSE TO ME, IF HE DIDN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, HE WOULD NOT BE ABOVE BIDEN AND THE REST OF THEM IN THE POLLS.

OBAMA/EDWARDS 08 OR EDWARDS/OBAMA 08 CANDIDATES FOR CHANGE

Superman is just a charactor living in a comic world, not "Real Hero". Brandon is an actor to act like Superman, not even "Real Superman". How does he relate to the politics in reality. We need a "Real Hero".

Jason, of Indianapolis   December 31st, 2007 10:35 am ET

Obama is the right choice for president, u can't think that putting the same folks back in office will bring about change! And I think that all of this negative stuff about Obama is because of the color of his skin, he is after all bi racial. Finally the democratic party is showing its racist side. He told people just don't vote for me because of the color of my skin, but because that u believe that I'm the right person for the job, unlike Clinton who tells women to vote for her just because she is a woman.

Routh says he is "sad" that he can't caucus any more because he no longer lives in the Hawkeye State, but he says he's "excited" by Obama's ability to unite the country.

Routh left Iowa in 1999 so he may have one or two years to caucus if he was active at that age….another Hollywood idiot using their starpower to influence those who aren't smart enough to make up there own mind. The only Dem with any experience to run a country is Gov. Richardson.

America, be kind to yourelf in this glorious new year.

Yes there is cynism and fear, but I have known Obama since 2002, he is good and kind man.

I realize that it hard to acccept a liberal Christian from an all black church, but nobiliity emerges in beautiful ways.

We are at risk to overlook the good in each other and to be trampled by the distrust.

I know I sound naive, but I know this man to be good.

Kathy Farmer Newnan, Georgia   December 31st, 2007 10:13 am ET

Wow. Sounds like there are a lot of angry, uninformed, and really stupid people who are reading this article. I agree…Who is this guy Routh? I've never heard of him, but I am not a fan of Superman. I have heard of Obama…and I am not a fan of him either! I, too, suggest that his confused supporters stop looking only skin deep at his race and dig deeper into his beliefs and find out the real truth about this man whom they want to elect as President of this country. The United States of Amercia was founded on Christian principles and over the last 200 years, these Christian principles have been thrown out the window. Obama was photographed refusing to even say the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag! That speaks volumes to me. George W. Bush may not be the favorite of the world now, but I do believe that he is a God-fearing man who has the beliefs in his heart that support the foundations of this country. I will not support any of the Democratic candidates…to me they are all pitiful! I feel that it is time for God to take control of this country and show us all who is really in control. For those of you who believe in Superman and Oprah…you probably believe in Santa Claus too! Well, let me tell you…if you think Santa makes a list and checks it twice…you'd better be concerned with the list that God is taking of your actions and attitudes towards this world that HE created. No one can lead this country the way HE can and I feel that whomever is elected President should be man enough to recognize this and man enough to proclaim his beliefs without worrying about all of the people who will be offended. Hell is going to be full of people who will not accept Jesus Christ one day…and Obama, Superman, and Oprah can lead them!

Average Joe in America   December 31st, 2007 10:07 am ET

politico December 31, 2007 12:47 am ET

"I love so much about Obama, but I hated the divisive figurative rhetoric used on "Meet the Press" this morning:

1.) Clinton is the "master in charge of a broken system;"

2.) Voters are "lifting the hoods" of the other candidates — "checking the tires" was lost.

Whether intentional or not, these expressions are racially charged, and no candidate who expresses such has ever, or will ever, get my vote."

Hey politico I didn't watch the show. So what you are saying is that there may have been a subtle message of slavery and triplek – that went right over the heads of most white bread Americans – which may have been aimed at the brothers & sisters? Many African American leaders don't feel that Obama connects with the average black voter b/c he was essentially raised white = in a middle class white neighborhood, went to an exclusive 97% white school, white Ivy League colleges… then finally found his roots in adulthood. AND now lives in one of the most liberal neighborhoods in Chicago – Hyde Park by the University of Chicago. (and I guess you know that his grandmother in Kenya does NOT live in a tiny mud hut either)

On the other hand, to a lot of older whites the black solidarity gesture still reminds them of the radical Black Panthers!! When Oprah, Michelle, and Obama stood on stage in SC and raised their fists in black unity, many felt it kind of smacked of reverse racism — especially when Oprah invoked Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's "I Have a Dream" speech…

All politicians use sound bytes and spin, Obama included – he just manages to get away with more of it b/c so far he has been the darling of the media. Would be a much harsher glare if he gets the nomination. The difference is between having experience and not having ENOUGH experience. On-the-job training is for starting at the bottom in the mail room and working your way up. Top CEOs aren't hired fresh out of grad-school!!

What I'm actually hearing is the "SAME OLD MANTRA of the 60's' = "don't trust anyone over 30″ – "never trust the establishment" and "all we are saying, is give peace a chance"…. LOL guess life has come full circle and now all the little chillin' THINK they are the ones who came up with these really ~ancient~ cliques" hahaha

;) Another dawning of the age of Aquarius looming on the horizon?? PEACE bro

JohnC   December 31st, 2007 9:59 am ET

This is just another example of Obama getting a free ride off the press.

Why use the superman image, and that he "swoops in"?

I don't know anything about Obama except his preferential treatment from the press.

Cyndi   December 31st, 2007 9:56 am ET

Wow Scott form Des Moines. You couldn't be more wrong. Obama cares a great deal.

I'm from Chicago and have known this kind and noble man since 2002. He has served our state well.

I can't believe how cyncial everyone has become with name calling. Such bitterness and rancor — I feel sad for our country. When a true and good liberal Christian comes along — it is hard to accept I know. (Yes, his church is a black church expousing black issues — the congregration is black that's why.)

A new day is dawning. Be kind to yourselves America. God bless.

Marc   December 31st, 2007 9:47 am ET

Just like in the movie, citizens of the USA are asking where Superman has been for the past 8 years, letting Bush win two elections and putting our great country in peril. Now he's back to save the day!

Vince, Phoenix AZ   December 31st, 2007 9:44 am ET

It is truly a sad day when the level of "debate" and discourse in our great country reaches this new low. Super-oversimplifications that give cover to super-petty (even below the belt and snotty) jabs. Some of the "logic" in posts here can't be followed with a map and a compass. Others display a level of ignorance that exposes such closed minds, that if JESUS endorsed Obama, people woud say STICK TO SAVIORIN' and stay out of politics. Two things can be gleaned from all this hate: 1) You've never listened to a word the man has said
2) You don't care to, as long as your guy/gal wins.

DEMOCRACY…. AIN'T IT JUST GRAND!!!

Clinton is an opportunist   December 31st, 2007 9:42 am ET

Hillary Clinton won't win the Democratic nomination and if she does this Democrat won't be voting for President because I will NEVER vote for her and cannot vote for Republicans. It will be a sad day for the Democratic Party if Hillary Clinton gets the nomination and it will weaken our party. There isn't a chance she will win the general election because the Republicans won't be voting for her, many Democrats won't be voting for her and the Independents are still out.

On the other hand, Obama will be able to get the support of every Democrat, will be able to persuade many Republicans to vote for him and will get a lot of the independent vote. We can talk about how Hillary Clinton doesn't have any real experience compared to Obama, we can talk about how she has failed to take a real stand on the issue and we can talk about how she is using her husband's Presidency as a way of saying, "even though I have no real experience myself my husband was President therefore you should vote for me."

How many times must we hear this. What's next? Chelsea Clinton or one of the Bush twins telling us "my father was President so you should vote for me because I spent 8 years as the daughter of a President?" My bad, Chelsea could say that her family controlled the White House for 16 years if Clinton wins and gets re-elected. We can then talk about the Bush/Clinton dynasties for decades.

JoCr   December 31st, 2007 9:40 am ET

Superman takes out the opponents. He doesn't negotiate with them. Perhaps Obama could learn something from the super idol.

Or he could join John Edwards's ticket as VP, learn about the presidency from the inside, and be a super idol president in 2016. If he did that, he could very well be the best president we've ever had.

"But I'm a member of Trinity United Church of Christ What Obama's Church Preaches, Erik Rush researches Hussein Obama's church, Trinity United Church of Christ. One could argue that this organization worships things African to a far greater degree than they do Christ, gives the impression of being separatist "church" in the same vein as do certain supremacist "white brethren" churches – or even Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. Shocking? An overstatement? One can see for oneself on the Trinity United Church website, which is replete with confirmation of what I present here. An excerpt from their Mission Statement: "We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian… Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community. Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
1. Commitment to God 2. Commitment to the Black Community 3. Commitment to the Black Family 4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education 5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence 6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic 7. Commitment to self-Discipline and Self-Respect 8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness" 9. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions 11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System 12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System." Sound familiar? Of course it is, since it's identical to the 12-point list from theoretical white supremacist candidate's church;

Derek Young   December 31st, 2007 8:19 am ET

I am bemused by the political naivety some of the posts here. There is no credible scenario – none – in which Hillary Clinton can beat Giuliani or McCain in the general. She's too extremist on policy, too scarred with the problems and baggage of the Bill Clinton administration, and people just don't like or trust her. Since some posters have criticised Barack Obama's lack of executive experience, it's a fair question to ask, where's Hillary's executive experience? Being First Lady, of the US or of Arkansas, surely does not count. In her seven years in the Senate she has achieved less than Obama has in three. Her greatest claims to fame are standing by her man on 60 Minutes, and messing up healthcare reform so badly it brought Newt Gingrich to the world. For the Democrats to choose Hillary over Obama would be the worst kind of cynical, pessimistic, old-style, self-harm that has cost them seven of the last ten presidential races. As Democratic caucusers in Iowa and voters in New Hampshire contemplate their choices, they should bear in mind that one candidate, Obama, represents hope and progress, and the other, Hillary, represents the same old story of doing the wrong things badly.

I will not vote for OBAMA

1) I want the same government we had for the last 20 years.
2) He opposed Iraq war
3) He is spineless he wants peace and diplomacy vs. war
4) He is opposed to Iran war
5) His name is linked to Osama and that link causes Osama experience to spread into Obama thinking. Just like Hillary experience spreads from bill. Or like a wife of a brain surgeon can perform brain surgery like the brain surgeon.
6) He is opposed to China selling us short. How dare he this is America we want to be sold short and Hillary know best. And that is why corpate money goes to Hillary
7) He has no experience. His life time serving in his state doesn’t count. It is not fair to count that as experience. That leaves him as a 1 term senator. I take Hillary 1 term senator experience over his. At least Hillary was smart enough to vote YES to IRAQ war. She helped to make the elite rich get richer. When will Obama learn this is the land of the wealthy people that run our country? Obama lack of experience he vote NO to Iran warmongering. Come on now Dumb Obama. At least Hillary voted Yes to Iran warmongering. We want their OIL.
8) HE is not White, This is America you have to be White to be President. OMG a black President what is this world coming to?
NO to OBAMA 2009 NO to CHANGE , NO to peace, NO to diplomacy NO to HOPE and A big time NO to the poor and middle class

YES to Hillary 2009 keep the status quo, Keep the elite wealthy getting rich off the poor. and YES to a war with IRAN. And YES to keep the IRAQ war going for another decade. YES to the elite RICH VOTE YES FOR HILLARY

Get over it people! What does "experience" look like? You don't have any "great" presidents with any "experience". Start with Washington – a war general, but no politician and end with the current. Enough said. Why is it a crime to have endorsements now? What are you people afraid of?

See the man for what he is, a front runner who just may make a substantial difference in this country that is on the brink of a recession. What are you people afraid of?

Barack is not going to come over to your house for dinner or marry your daughter! He is highly qualified and an excellent candidate. Let this beautiful country make an honest decision and elect the best PERSON for the job, clean and fair, no matter who supports them.

IHNCNH   December 31st, 2007 4:15 am ET

Hey Anthony Induisi…you sound like a Republican first off. Second off, ARE YOU THAT BLIND??? You can't see what side Hillary is working for? She has not only a majority of the Reupublican house vote, but Bush's endorsement, you moron! You may as well be voting for our current president for the next 8 years in office. The only thing she's done over Obama is be the wife of a Presient and live in the White House. Would you like me to simplify that example for you?? That's like being a Quarterback sitting on the bench behind Tom Brady or Peyton Manning for 8 years. You may get to go on the field for the final two minutes of the final game, but it doesn't mean crap, because you have'nt done jack.

And as for you xtina…you are straight Republican…you people make me sick…it is because of awful people (I don't even want to call you a citizen) like you that our reputation is soured internationally. Nothing Obama has done shows leadership?? How about taking time off from school and his goals to help the some of hte poorest communities in America? How about how he DOESN'T take money from lobbyists? If anything he is the ONLY one who can lead without being persuaded by the rich. He cares about the people more so than any of his couterparts. Most of but, not all, are self serving ego maniacs. I am speaking of Hillary and Romney first and foremost. They are all politicians full of rhetoric.

BARACK IS A MAN, A CARING CITIZEN, OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA THAT SPEAKS THE TRUTH AND IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN SAVE OUR TARNISHED REPUTATION IN THE WORLD. What is wrong with you people??

VOTE OBAMA 08!

Ken Masters   December 31st, 2007 4:14 am ET

Hey Tony how about you have a coke a smile and stfu because you make no sense. Oh and English please. XTina go watch loose change and please tell me your joking it breaks my heart to know that your from chicago.

I'm not voting for Obama or Clinton mainly because of the dream act they voted for and that really is the only reason. I say both should drop out of the race anyway and let say Guiliani or the old Vet take office to try to clean up the horrible mess that Bush has gotten this country into.

Because we all know how history would be written say a Woman or a Black male would be looked down on not being able for clean up the mess and get things back to a functional state that is clearly gonna take at least a decade. Since Mr. NY NY guiliani was in on 911 let him take office so he can be placed in the spot light he should be in when he fails.

Go Cubs.

louthor   December 31st, 2007 3:59 am ET

In your dreams buddy. There's not one politician, left or right, GOP or Dem that can unite the country. Go back to make believe land called Hollywood.

Why do people listen to these Hollywood folks? They lived an unreal world of fame and riches. Ms. Oprah hasn't voted in a Presidental Primary in 25 years, and now she telling us how to vote. And now 28 years old Brandon knows all, sees all. Get real people!

Lucas, Nashville TN   December 31st, 2007 3:17 am ET

The arrogance of the first two posts is disgusting.

"Experience" is how we got where we are, and it's not nearly as valuable as judgment. Making the right choices is important, and those choices later become your experience. As for people who think that Hillary is a shoe-in, that's a fantasy. She's like a sharp rock that the nation will break itself on. Too divisive and too entitled. Another dynasty, fueled by crooked money.

Sometimes I wonder if the people reading CNN's site know anything about our political system or about the primary season.

Voter in Florida   December 31st, 2007 3:04 am ET

samuyel   December 31st, 2007 2:55 am ET

in real estate it is location, location and location.in politics it is experience, experience and more of experience. now re. obama vs. hillary vs. any third and fourth candidate it is the person most capable to lead the great u.s.a. into the 21 st. century — yes, we are there technologically but not yet there on social harmony, less poverty, more content people, better physically fit people, better food content etc. etc. let change come in — not at a "tax" price but at an honest "intellectual" challenge. I rest my case. Now, play it again Sam!

Steve   December 31st, 2007 2:44 am ET

Obama may not have any executive experience, but hen neither does Hillary. I just do not understand why she gets away with touting herself as the candidate who is experienced and ready to be president from day one. She held no position whatsoever in the Clinton White House. She was his wife, not his VP. The only reason she even was elected to the Senate was because a bunch of ignorant New Yorkers felt sorry for her due to Bill's affair and said, "aww, Poor Hillary. Let's give her a job."

jason   December 31st, 2007 2:30 am ET

Obama is awesome! I hope he wins the race. And it is about time that America grew up and realized that color, sex or creed should not be a "stump" to leading a country. There is no "perfect" person for a president, they all come in different shapes, experiences, etc and once in power, they use what they know and learn what they do not know. For all you haters of democracy and freedom beyond color and sex, we, the younger generation are saying, "we are past that! Let the "old schoolers know we advocate peace and not hate!"

As entertainers and politicians come together to garner votes for candidates, we'll see this more and more. As the race heats up, Liechtenstein singer Al Walser has been one of the long list of entertainers to meet with Barack Obama. This is particularly interesting because Liechtenstein doesn't play a major role in our foreign policy. Perhaps they're trying to change that.

Here's a video of this from on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzDimKJnDrw

Superman never made any money,

It's great to have Superman as a sidekick. ;-)

Seriously though, anybody who can get more people to participate in the democratic process is welcome. Nobody is going to change their mind between different candidates based on this kind of endorsement, but maybe a few more people will take the time needed to caucus.

The fact that Brandon Routh is insightful enough to support Barack Obama is just gravy.

That executive experience is exactly the kind of experience that lead us into Iraq. To lead needs life experience and not the that same old Washington experience. If Washington experience is what we need in our politicians, then Senators Biden, Dodd,Richardson have enough of that but lets hope that same old game that is being played in Washington will be over in January,2009 when Barack Obama is inuagurated as the president of the United States who is capable of uniting this nation again. VOTE OBAMA!

J.Murphy, CA.   December 31st, 2007 12:57 am ET

Obama is a good man, but he needs more experience, I think 8 years at V.P. would give him that experience.. Hillary has the experience with her years in the White House as an Advisor to Bill, and her time in the Senate.. You want him to be the President, then tell him to get in line.. We tried the fast track with Jimmy Carter and that didn't work out to well.. My vote goes to Hillary, She can win & will win.

Alexis Carrington Colby   December 31st, 2007 12:51 am ET

Obama, you are going to lose.

Connie, Richmond, CA   December 31st, 2007 12:49 am ET

Xtina, Obama is a black man in American who has the nerve to run for president: that is grace under pressure.

He is the most intelligent, has the best judgment, and the best experience. And cami, no one is going to "give a black man a chance." Obama has earned everything that he has, the very hard way. He and all black men before him, who defy the odds, simply have more courage and fortitude then most people can imagine.

politico   December 31st, 2007 12:47 am ET

I love so much about Obama, but I hated the divisive figurative rhetoric used on "Meet the Press" this morning:

1.) Clinton is the "master in charge of a broken system;"

2.) Voters are "lifting the hoods" of the other candidates — "checking the tires" was lost.

Whether intentional or not, these expressions are racially charged, and no candidate who expresses such has ever, or will ever, get my vote.

michael guinn   December 31st, 2007 12:45 am ET

Obama has shown greater wisdom and judgement on the critical foreign policy issues than all the other candidates combined. Hillary, Edwards and Biden voted for the Iraq war – simply parroting what Bush told them. Obama not only spoke out against it, but was able to see exactly where it would take us. He alone accurately identified in 2002 the quagmire and costs that would result – both in lives and finances. Again, when it came to Iran, Hillary rushed to vote for an unnecessary hostile saber-rattling bill – something that George Bush himself admitted could be pushing us into World War III. Note that Bush's WW III is no joke. It would mean destruction of the planet earth – as it would be nuclear, and Russia would not be on our side. Putin has said that. We need a brilliant president who can guide us through unprecedented danger. Obama's the man. Nobody else even comes close.

Now it’s time for the Clinton spin… Routh’s only supporting Obama because he’s black… oh I guess it wouldn’t be wise for HRC supporters to use that one (the infamous Oprah spin)…but true to form some may try. He’s only supporting him because he’s a man… yippee that one will do. Now let’s summarise:

1) Oprah’s support of a gracious friend who also happens to be a brilliant, upstanding, competent senator of her home state, with in actuality more EXPERIENCE in public office than his notoriously deceptive, experience-feigning counterpart (10 versus 6 years) qualifies her as a racist and;
2) Routh’s support of an articulate, inspirational, prudent, honest individual, who in all likelihood can unite the nation makes Routh a sexist pig.

Voting for Obama is really becoming a big joke. After Oprah and Superman, who's next, Batman, Spiderman… He belongs to "LaLa" land. He doesn't belong in the WHITE House.

Environmentally Blue, DM   December 31st, 2007 12:20 am ET

Oh goodie, another Uniter! Let's see, a talker, no experience, pushes special interests business, instead of the PEOPLES BUSINESS. yep, if people actually vote for Obama, we'll have another "Dubya" 2.0

I hope people are smarter than that? No experience and talk that doesn't match any of his votes, lets not even mention he has done anything, but still wants to be President. If that even happened, which I doubt possible, especially seeing the hatred and divisiveness that our country has grown with, we could kiss our country and everything she's about, good bye. As Obama couldn't even keep his US Senate Campaign promises. Not one Bill written, Co sponsored or even vote to end the war in his 2 years before annoucing he was renegging on that other promise to serve a full Senate term before running for President. And the 2nd issue for his campaign? …the injustices of the Patriot Act. Well, he voted for THAT TOO. aproving the Reauthorization of the Patriot Act (P A 2)

He should have served his-at least one term to show he could actually do something. So far only the businesses and his donors have won with Obama.

KEITH JAMES LOUTTIT   December 31st, 2007 12:12 am ET

You know, Superman is the only superhero that lives his alter-ego as his "normal" life.

All other superheroes, are mere humans who, when living in their alter-ego form are super-human.

Not Superman.

Not Obama.

Obama is living his alter-ego persona now while he runs for president.

In his natural state, he is just some guy who has a few dreamlike, seductive philosophies about the world. A normal liberal.

It's no wonder Superman endorses Obie, wouldn't John Wayne Gacy endorse Ted Bundy?

A vote for Obama is a vote for the alter-egos of America!

Jeff from Jersey   December 31st, 2007 12:11 am ET

It's NOT Superman folks. It's just another pretty boy actor. That's not even close to "Truth,Justice…"but ,sadly,it really is "The American Way" now isn't it?Just goes to show that Obama is as much a phony and a fraud as every other politician.Routh should run for election in California. They're good at electing bad actors or maybe it's just "experienced" at it.Obama's idea of "Experienced" is Jimi Hendrix.

The NYPD,the NYFD as well as the Port Authority and the vast majority of the people in the NY metropolitan area know for an absolute fact that Giuliani is one of the biggest frauds there is.If the rest of the country doesn't wake up to that fact before Giuliani is ever elected to ANYTHING,then they will wake up to a national tragedy that will make 9/11 and Pearl Harbor look like a social tea by comparison! He too is a natural for California. He's already a bad actor and on the national stage he will be even worse. You'll think Freddy Kruger was real and living in the whitehouse.

I'm not sure which of the other candidates in either party would be the best president but I'm darn sure that these two would be the worst.

Obama has run a brilliant, classy campaign. His staff has performed with dignity and it is a testament to the kind of leadership we will see during his tenure as president. His leadership skills are superb! The sheer size of the crowds he draws at his events compared to the crowds the other candidates draw speaks volumes about his leadership skills.

Nikole   December 30th, 2007 11:57 pm ET

Ken, San Diego, CA   December 30th, 2007 11:55 pm ET

Hillary Clinton may not have a lot of poetry, she may not give the best speaches, but she is the best equiped for bringing about change in Washington. Look I dont need a flowery speach to make me feel hopeful, what I need is action. Put your money where your mouth is and Hillary Clinton has done that. She is a world class administrator, intelligent negotiator and effective teacher. We need all those things if we are going to enact the changes needed to put America back on track. If Obama wants to write and give speaches let him be Clintons press secretary and leave the hard work to someone who is tried and true. Give me Hillarys tenacity and can do attitude over Obamas smooth talk anyday. I want results not a sound bite.

It is very obvious who CNN is supporting here. I really am angry at that.
To the above negative and angry posters (anthony induisi and xtina chicago IL), your negative attacks will not work, they have not worked and they are becoming quite desperate. Obama, Clinton and Edwards are tie in IOWA. Obama by far has the most comprehensive grass roots organization of this campaign – he is unbeatable.

Obama flip flopper   December 30th, 2007 11:05 pm ET

AP-Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may have a lot of explaining to do.
He voted against requiring medical care for aborted fetuses who survive. He supported allowing retired police officers to carry concealed weapons, but opposed allowing people to use banned handguns to defend against intruders in their homes. And the list of sensitive topics goes on. With only a slim, two-year record in the U.S. Senate, Obama doesn't have many controversial congressional votes which political opponents can frame into attack ads. But his eight years as an Illinois state senator are sprinkled with potentially explosive land mines, such as his abortion and gun control votes. recent land purchase from a political supporter who is facing charges in an unrelated kickback scheme involving investment firms seeking state business. Abortion opponents see Obama's vote on medical care for aborted fetuses as a refusal to protect the helpless. Some have even accused him of supporting infanticide.

Oh..so because he played Superman, he is not allowed to show his support for Obama? The point of having someone like Oprah or any other celebrity support you is not that somehow it directly gets you votes – celebrities draw people to events so that the candidate can present his/her case. In the case of Oprah, she brought the crowds in but it was Obama who sealed the deal.

anon middle class america   December 30th, 2007 10:57 pm ET

xtina, you are as biased as they come! Everytime you post it's something negative towards Democrats, mainly Obama. I can't wait until next Friday so you can eat those words. Stop criticizing so much and maybe you can see some of what Senator Obama has done in his NUMEROUS years of being elected to public office. Nobody gave him a snowball's chance in hell of beating Hillary and now it appears to be neck and neck in the early primary states. Whether or not you believe it his message is resonating. Deal with it!

Scott, Des Moines, Iowa   December 30th, 2007 10:53 pm ET

Hillary can bring thousands celebrities to join her. I remember Superman came to save the lady Lois, not a guy. Ha…..
Any way, who cares. We will not vote for you, not now, not ever. Ask the State where he's from, ask his hometown people, he is not what he said who he is. His supporters chasing a shadow, a shallow image. When everything said and done, he does NOT care about you AT ALL.

Want to find out about Obama's Church he claims to be a member of? He says he is a member of the Trinity Church of Christ. Go to that website and I think you'll find out all you need to know about what he believes in. The website is
http://www.tucc.org/about.htm. It seems to me his church is nothing but racists who would like to take this country over. How could anyone vote for "Hussein" after learning this. And nowhere on that website does if mention anyone else but blacks (African and African-American). They include nobody else. These Hollywood characters aren't in touch with reality. They live in a different world.

Billy   December 30th, 2007 10:16 pm ET

Not sure Routh is any "better-known for his role as Superman" as he is "actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh". If Obama fares as well as this Man of Steel did at the box office, he's in big trouble. I wouldn't characterize Brandon's endorsement as a necessarily positive thing.

Celebrities should stick to making movies, anyway. Especially when they're not even really celebrities.

The message is clear. A hero only follows another hero or a winner. I am glad that as the days go bye, even past the Iowa caucuses, more and more sound minded Americans will see the vision and desire to put their country in the hands of a great leader in the making!

Superman, we applaud you…I know the Hillary attack machine is going to start coming after you soon but i'm not worried b/c none of them is super!

Welcome aboard the Obama wegon!

Please explained to me why no one and I mean no one has asked obama about the
church he attends in chicago where he attends with Oprah.
The problem he has that I am told by many friends is the pastor has close ties with
black muslim leader Louis Farrakhan. I'm told not only does he have close ties with
farrakhan, this same pastor met with farrakhan in Libya with the country's leader while there.
someone needs to pulls some of the items and things this pastor have said.

But Obama has no executive experience. Compared with the many accomplishments of Mayor Guiliani who took over 600,000 people off welfare who were able-bodied to work, and who reduced crime by 50 percent in New York, and who successfully managed the second largest economy next to that of the United States itself; and compared with Mitt Romney- taking a bankrupt organization and turning it around , Obama has done nothing. Anyone could sit in committees and lobby for more and more money from already over-taxed citizens as Obama has done. And anyone could try to put new "laws" on the books. Nothing Obama has done shows leadership, grace under pressure or the desire to reduce government spending and lighten the taxpayers' burden…

Zogby, Mason-Dixon, ARG, Pew, Quad City, and CNN: Take another poll now, please! My prediction is Superman was looking for Edwards and got lost.
