Superman swoops in to defend Obama

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

Iowa-born actor Brandon Routh (aka Superman) stumped for Obama Sunday.

INDIANOLA, Iowa (CNN) - He may be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, but Superman can’t caucus.

Actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh is better-known for his role as Superman, but Sunday night he made a cameo appearance on the campaign trail, speaking on behalf of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Indianola, Iowa.

Routh says he is "sad" that he can't caucus any more because he no longer lives in the Hawkeye State, but he says he's "excited" by Obama's ability to unite the country. He also says he likes that Obama is not taking money from lobbyists or special interests.

Routh says he hopes his visit will empower people to caucus for Obama.

Routh is a former fashion model turned actor. He appeared on several television series before being cast as the title hero in the 2006 film Superman Returns.

Routh left Iowa in 1999 so he may have one or two years to caucus if he was active at that age....another Hollywood idiot using their starpower to influence those who aren't smart enough to make up there own mind. The only Dem with any experience to run a country is Gov. Richardson.

Obama is the right choice for president, u can't think that putting the same folks back in office will bring about change! And I think that all of this negative stuff about Obama is because of the color of his skin, he is after all bi racial. Finally the democratic party is showing its racist side. He told people just don't vote for me because of the color of my skin, but because that u believe that I'm the right person for the job, unlike Clinton who tells women to vote for her just because she is a woman.

Superman is just a charactor living in a comic world, not "Real Hero". Brandon is an actor to act like Superman, not even "Real Superman". How does he relate to the politics in reality. We need a "Real Hero".

OK, I WANT EVERYONE IN THIS POST TO REALIZE SOMETHING.
ALL OF THE OBAMA SUPPORTERS SEEM TO HAVE A GOOD IDEA OF OBAMA AND SEEM MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THE ANTI OBAMA POSTS.

GESH, JUST GOING THROUGH SOME OF THESE POST MADE ME REALIZE JUST HOW STUPID SOME AMERICANS CAN BE.

THIS IS A BLACK MAN WHO'S TAKING A CHANCE AT RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT, BEATING OUT ALL THE ODDS AND THE BEST YOU CAN DO IS SAY HE'S MUSLIM OR MENTION HIS MIDDLE NAME OR HIS NAME IN GENERAL. C'MON, YOU HAVE TO BE BETTER THAN THAT. BUT TELL ME THIS, WHAT DOES HIS NAME OR HIS CHURCH HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING? SERIOUSLY.
THE COMMENTS I'VE READ SOUND LIKE FEAR. FEAR THAT OBAMA HAS A CHANCE, FEAR THAT OBAMA IS A GOOD CANDIDATE BECAUSE IF HE WASN'T, THEN YOU IDIOTS WOULDN'T COME UP WITH ALL THESE DUMB THINGS TO TRY AND THROW DIRT IN HIS CAMPAIGN.

THE NAME OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IS CALLED POLITICS NOT SMEAR. QUESTION THE MAN ON HIS politics, NOT HIS RACE, RELIGION OR HIS NAME. HE WAS BORN RIGHT HERE IN AMERICA AND TO TAKE THAT AWAY FROM HIM IS BEING UN-AMERICAN PER OUR CONSTITUTION.
LET THE MAN RUN HIS CAMPAIGN, IF YOU DON'T LIKE HIS POLITICS, THEN LET IT BE KNOWN AND TALK ABOUT IT, BUT DON'T DUMB YOURSELF TO THE POINT TO WHERE OUTSIDERS SEE OUR COUNTRY AS MINDLESS CHILDISH IDIOTS.

I'M A SUPPORTER OF BOTH EDWARDS AND OBAMA AND I PRAY THAT OBAMA WINS THE ELECTION WITH EDWARDS AT HIS SIDE, AND IF OBAMA DIDN'T THEN I WOULD WANT OBAMA AT EDWARDS SIDE.

I DON'T LIKE HILLARY BECAUSE OF HER POLITICS AND WHAT SHE STANDS FOR. SHE HAS RUN A DIRTY CAMPAIGN WITH NO CLASS, SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE SHE CLAIMS SHE HAS AND FIRST AND FOREMOST, HER HEALTH CARE POLICY IS horrible AND ITS PROOF THAT SHE TAKES MONEY FROM LOBBYIST BECAUSE SHE WAS APPOINTED BY HER OWN HUSBAND IN 1993 TO BASICALLY ESTABLISH A CALL FOR A UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM AND WHAT HAPPENED? THE SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS SHUT HER UP WITH MONEY AND THAT’S A FACT. MY GRANDMOTHER WAS REALLY HAPPY WHEN SHE HEARD THE NEWS OF HER PLANS AND TILL THIS DAY SHE WONDERS WHAT'S GOING ON...SEE NOW THESE ARE MY REASON FOR NOT RUNNING WITH CLINTON. PERSONALLY SHE MAYBE A GOOD WOMAN AND I MAY LIKE HER BUT POLITICALLY I DON'T LIKE HER. SHE REMINDS ME OF THE FEMALE VERSION OF BUSH. ACT NOW, WORRY ABOUT IT LATER. I'LL TAKE INEXPERIENCE OVER THAT WAY OF THINKING ANYTIME.

SIMPLE AS THIS, OBAMA AND EDWARDS HAVE RUN GOOD CAMPAIGNS THUS FAR, GIVE OBAMA HIS CHANCE, IF HE WINS THE NOMINATION, HE CAN’T DESTROY THIS COUNTRY NO MORE THAN WHAT BUSH HAS. IF YOU WANT TO DISKLIKE OBAMA, DISLIKE HIM FOR HIS HARDWORK HE DID IN THE GHETTOS OF CHICAGO, HATE HIM FOR HIS CIVIL RIGHTS WORK, HATE HIM FOR BEING A COMMUNITY MAN AND A MAN OF UNITE. BUT DON'T HATE THE MAN BECAUSE OF HIS NAME AND HIS SO CALLED INEXPERIENCE BECAUSE TO ME, IF HE DIDN'T HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, HE WOULD NOT BE ABOVE BIDEN AND THE REST OF THEM IN THE POLLS.

    OBAMA/EDWARDS 08 OR EDWARDS/OBAMA 08 CANDIDATES FOR CHANGE

You all know superman isn't real, right? Just checking. This is really stupid. However, Superman does have a lot in common with most of the front runners of the 2008 Elections... they're all fiction. Fighting over which is the lesser evil is a dumb, endless battle. As you stand in line for the polls in 2008, I hope that you have come to the realization that your opinions mean nothing compared to the greater good and the health of our great nation. It has been ravaged by ignorance, racism, greed and poor leadership. When you push those buttons, or punch those cards-I hope you hear the cries of ALL those in need of a better system, a better America and not just the echoes of your own petty beliefs and faiths. Lose the selfish attitude America, and WAKE UP! This country - this world - is in need of our collective 'reality check.'

Go 'whoever is willing to make this world a better place' in 2008.

I hope Obama does get the nomination. Republicans will tear him to shreds. Oprah, Superman, and the black muslims can't help him. If this country needs a black president, it should be Powell, or Rice. At least they wouldn't use their skin color or gender. They would definently get my vote. Besides, who could trust a man who'll not say the Pledge Of Allegiance?

All this celebrity backing is foolishness. Either you have it or not. Obama talks good but has done little , Check out what he voted on in the Illinois Legislation and his lack of voting in the senate. His number one priority is to be president and will say and use who ever to get there. He said H. Clinton uses Bill and his years in the White House and Obama has Bill Clinton's people on his team giving him advise. So what does he really have on his own is a lot of talk. Didn't our now President ride on the coat tails of his fathers administration because he had no experience of his own?

I'd like to see Barack Obama try to explain why Do not gather where moth and rust consume and do not put new wine into old wineskins is an incendiary device.

A former fashion model turned actor. Wow – two occupations which require little to no brain power. I really respect and rely on people like this brave soul, stepping forward to show me the way; the path to a stronger and smarter nation.

Thank you Superman. Thank you fashion model. Thank you Zoolander.

Another Hollywood character expresses support for Obama. YES! And its the guy who played SUPERMAN. If Christopher Reeves were still alive he would be supporting Barack Obama as well. Can't wait for the Hillary Campaign to spin out their own hero endorsement. I know who it will be be...Lynda Carter who comes to Hillary's aid.

Who? Lynda Carter? Who? Lynda Carter? Who? Lynda Carter? The woman who played WONDER WOMAN in the 1980s.

Another thanks to Don in Houston. I get tired of the biased scripts of some of the posters who take no time to know what candidates really stand for. They just decide that they don't like a candidate (who knows why) and then just keep the rhetoric without sound facts going. If people took the time to get to know Obama, they would find a candidate that can pull political parties together to work for the good for all. His work in Chicago is so telling. How many candidates would take a low paying job out of college to better the low income area of south Chicago? Even when given offers of seven digit incomes. How many would have put off going to Harvard to help others? There aren't many who care so much about the less fortunate and common person. Obama has passed much legislation, created quite a bit more, and has the countries real interests in mind. I am so tired of the government as it is currently being run. It's time we elect someone that truly has the heart and soul to run a country, and who will not be lead by corporate interests or lobbyists.

    Go OBAMA!!!

i love how people articulate their comments here when degrading Obama. Whats even more funny is how conservative republicans argue about Obama's ability to take the helm of the country however these jokers elected Bush to office. The man can even speak proper english yet you elected the man to the most powerful position in the world. Good Game to you all. At least Obama isnt infected with the disease of greed and swayed by special interest groups. Get your heads out of the sand and vote for change. Whether is be Ron Paul or Obama, time for a change.

Both Edwards and Clinton backed the Bush regime and yes, the Bush failed policies are coming back full circle to haunt us now. terrorism is very real. Clinton and Edwards chose the wrong guy, the wrong policy, the wrong strategy.

Obama has said Pakistan/Afghanistan were the real dangers and recent events have proved he is far more intuitive to world events than Clinton or Edwards.

Obama is now. Edwards and Clinton are old school. Go Obama.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Just to say America needs a new fresh stat with Barack who represente at this
time the man for the change we all need. With good judgement, new idea,a
little experience and plus his staff advisers, I strongly believe that Obama will
be able to administre very well. America needs someone like Obama 1/2 White
(mother) and 1/2 Black (father).Dont forget that without looking for unity in the
Nation nobody will be able to do something. I respect all candidats whom are
doing the best possible at this campain. They are all providing the good things.
However, in my opinion I think Obama is the man for now. I hope that the rest of
you will take a moment to think as well that Obama is the right candidat for 2008.
Superman has good judgement to see what it is possible for the future of America. Good luck Mr Obama. Happy New Year to you, to your family ,to your staff
to America and the rest of the World.

Kathy Farmer, I agree with you 100%. This country was found under the Christians principles no matter how they try to twist it. We need to speak out as our rights are being violated. Do you think a Christian will get to become a president in S. Arabia, Iraq, Iran or Indonesia? The answer is no because the countries were found under Islamic fundamentals. I am a black person who is angry at the extent that the Democrats have violated our existence. Democrats are dividers and poverty exploiters. It is necessary we remain poor so they gain votes, the same way it is necessary that we have discrimination so Al And Jesse can demand our $. DEMOCRATS exposed. If they win the Latinas are going to get more power and they could care less for African Americans. WAKE UP America, quit singing we hate Bush all day long and see what he has one to protect you. i disagree with him 50% of the time nut the times that I agree with him it is justified. This is one Nation under God and not One Nation under Socialism.
    *No to Welfare
    *No to big Government
*No to abortion......40,000,000 children are killed every year.
*Radical Islam will not rest, until all Christians are executed
    *No more Pork Barrel spending
*School Vouchers should be in placed.
*See the promises Hugo Chaves made, they are the same Dems are making.
*LAST HAPPY NEW YEAR and NO to DEMOCRATS and NO TO RON PAUL

A bunch of idiots on this post talking smack about Obama. You people need to get a clue. This man is the most gifted candidate right now, hands down. Period. I know it's hard for most people to accept a brilliant black man, but ya'll need to fall back.

How many of you supporting Obama notice that media has already abandoning Obama and rallying around Edwards all of a sudden? Democrats should careful enough to see through this right-wing conspiracy. All they want is to stop Clinton, and it doesn't matter to them whether that person is Obama or Edwards.
Also Bloomberg is considering running as a third party candidate if the democrat nominee is either obama or edwrads and republican is Huckabee. This shows what kind of a weak status they give to anyone other than Clinton.
Republicans hate Clinton, at the same time they fear her. They know that they can't mess with the Clintons. We democarts should understand this challenge and work to send the strongest candidate Clinton to the front.

What a joke. Obama is making this race is joke. First Oprah and now an actor. And, from I hear not a very good one. I don't understand Obama nor for that matter care to. It concerns me that there are still a few people out there that think he has a chance. I wish this was all over so he can lose and go home. And, from what we hear never ever run again per Michelle. Good riddance.

Obama has interesting and thoughtful things to say. If there is hope for this country to ever be unified, at least as far as the moderate, normal, inquisitive and mildy educated people are concerned, Obama may be the only candidate that can pull it off. The problem may be that the harm inflicted on this country over the last 8 years has gone too deep to ever be healed. There may no longer be room in the current debate for words of peace, tolerance, or unity. Look at the words in these comments – what do you think? Are the views expressed the thoughtful views of concerned citizens, or simply more of the same divisive rhetoric churned out by candidates, dwelled upon by the media, and spit out by an angry and frightened public?

Washington does change people. Four years ago, Obama wouldnt engage in negative campaign but not now, after four years in washington.Obama is a smart and good man but I respect Hillary more for her scars (from the republican attack machines including Karl Rove) and still standing and standing tall after over 16years. She is very smart, very experienced, very resourceful and very tough.Better still, Clinton-Obama democratic ticket is landslide election winner and what the nation needs.
