Bloomberg, are you going to try to buy the white house.Guess what old chap its not for sale.

Retire Dinosaur. you Republicans have bankrupt our countrey, soiled our reputation world wide, stained our constitution.

I think Mayor Bloomberg would be good, he's sorted out NYC. I think an Obama/Bloomberg ticket is just what we need to sort out what all that destruction that Bush and the NeoCon rethuglicans have done to the country. We could have univ. health care, Iraq pullout etc.
Not to mention diverse, a Black president with a Jewish VP, (of course Bloomberg would be 1000 times better than Lieberman who has de facto become a Republican). About a week ago, I was firmly behind Clinton for the nod, but she is probably the most conservative Democrat in the field and is still naive about the Iraq War, not to mention all the healthcare lobby money she received, so I switched my support to Obama, he has great charisma and has actual progressive agenda that would change the country and make the US a happier place to live.

However if Clinton was the Dem candidate for 08, of course I would vote for her. God I would not vote for a Repub...

BTW I don't care about any of the criticism that I will get from Republicans and neocons looking at this post, because everybody knows that you guys do not deserve to win the Presidential race this November after all the damage you have caused to America and the world and that the only issue you can emphasize is illegal immigration, because you have failed miserably on every other one...

Illegal immigration is overestimated, get over it, the GOP are only using that tactic to scare the voters to vote them into power, and further destroy the civilization and the society that we live in.

Good luck

Great, now he can turn the nation into a sanctuary state just like he and Giuliani did to New York. You've been warned America.

Patrick   January 1st, 2008 4:35 pm ET

It would be interesting to know if more Republicans or Democrats would vote for him since he's been a member of both parties and an independent. Also I wonder who would be more likely to choose his as a VP, a democrat or republican? I'd love to see a Biden or Obama/Bloomberg or a McCain/Bloomberg

Stay home Michael Bloomberg! You've been acting indecisive just like Fred Thompson in deciding whether to run. Its too late in the race now. You'll lose credibility that will haunt you forever for not stepping out earlier. Don't spoil the Democrats best chance like Ralph Nader did in 2000 and cause us to have a Huckabee as President. That would be a nightmare. Work from within the Democratic Party this time. There are independents who suspect you for changing your party affiliation. stay home Mike….please!

Ed,Ellenville,New York   January 1st, 2008 3:11 pm ET

Mike will jump in only to ensure democratic victory and destroy the republican theocrats. He'll put the nation first .

Rob   January 1st, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Bloomberg is awful. He is a 100 times better than Hillary.

Bloomberg is not really running for Prez. Remember how he he had a very staged lunch with Obama in Nov. He's running for VP. Being in the Prez race officially helps his credibility when he DOES get the VP nod. He expects to at least get an offer from either of the top 3 Democratic candidates. He's hedging his bets. Bloomberg has a good reputation as a businessman and mayor. But not enough experience in national politics and definitely not foreign policy. He is the Uber-VP choice for ANY of the Dems.

soren   January 1st, 2008 1:42 pm ET

Bloomberg is so incredibly better qualified than Giuliani.
Bloomberg is so incredibly a better human being than Giuliani.
Bloomberg would be a gift from heaven.
Let's pray that he will run.

Dee, Plano TX   January 1st, 2008 1:35 pm ET

I don't even care anymore. After all the racist and xenophobic attacks against Barack Obama by rival "DEMOCRATS" or shall I say "Dixiecrats", if Hillary is the nominee, I'm voting for MAYOR BLOOMBERGER

Robert Bell   January 1st, 2008 1:30 pm ET

The entire purpose of his candidacy would be to pull votes away from the Republican Nominee and thus promote a Hillary Presidency. Bill used this in his first election with Ross Perot. Bush used this in his first election with Ralph Nader.

It is a strategy that works. Florida (and thus the entire election) would have gone to Al Gore if even a fraction of the Nader voters voted for Gore instead of the moonbat candidate.

But the mantra at the time was "there is no difference between Al Gore and George Bush, so I am voting for Nader".

8 years later, I wonder if the Naderites think Gore and Bush are indistinguishable.

IN a parlimentary system, such 3rd partys can end up being power brokers, and it can be worthwhile. But in our electoral college system like we have, the only thing a 3rd party candidate can do is be the spoiler.

I'd like to say, let's not fall into that trap again, but the hard reality is, there are enough moonbats out there who think that a protest vote means something (or they pick their candidates based on brand names, the tide charts, or astrology or whatever) that a 3rd party candidacy will work.

Ouch. You know what that means.

It must be true what they say about CNN and the other media.

Nobody in the country is clammering for Michael Bloomberg to run. He does not measure on any polls. CNN and the other news media want him to run because that sells newspapers and ad time.

Michael Bloomberg is no more important historically than Ralph Nader. At most he will act as spoiler to one party or the other.

Just once before I die I would like to see the media put the interests of the Republic before their own.

Stop giving coverage to this moron.

rick lanning   January 1st, 2008 1:24 pm ET

michael bloomberg for President? not hardly. bloomberg can make a dent in the other candidates' votes, but he won't win. if the democrats are seriously seeking an alternate candidate because none of the others can win a plurality of votes, why not al gore? he won once vote wise and all he has to do is repeat his performance. with all the damage bush did to himself and the republican party, he should be a shoo-in. rick lanning, international journalist

Rob   January 1st, 2008 1:14 pm ET

The country needs another NE socialists to continue its destruction. Get this Bozo in the race fast.

Don   January 1st, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Third party runs help create change in the political system. Right now we seem to be stuck with the fringes on the left and right setting the political agenda and deciding who should govern this country. I am hopeful that a strong leader with common sense and competent governing skills, like Michael Bloomberg, can offer a better choice than we have today between the Lunatic Left and the Righteous Right.

Jean truman   January 1st, 2008 1:05 pm ET

MAYOR BLOOMBERG IS INDEED A FAR BETTER MAYOR THAN THE FORMER MAYOR RUDY GIULIANI. SHOULD WE COMPARE THE FORMER AND THE CURRENT MAYOR AS A BETTER PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, JAYOR BLOOMBERG WILL BE A SUPER PRESIDENTIAL CONDIDATE THAN RUDY GIULIANI WHO HAS SO MUCH QUESTIONALBE AND CORRUPT BACKGROUND.
I BELIEVE MAYOR BLOOMBERG WILL BE A SUPERB PRESIDENTIAL CONDIDATE OUT OF THE CURRENT CANDIDATES.
THUS SHOULD MAYOR BLOOMBERG DECIDE TO RUN:
RUDY GIULIANI WILL RETIRE.
JOHN McCAIN WILL CHECK INTO AN OLD AGE HOME.
MIKE HUCKABEE WILL GO BACK TO HIS CHURCH DUTIES.
AND THE REST OF THE GROUP MAY CHOOSE TO BECOME LOBBYIST, LIKE TOM DELAY, TO COLLECT MONEY FOR THEIR RETIMENTS.
OH, WHAT ABOUT GEORGE BUSH ?

Jeff Spangler, Arlington, VA   January 1st, 2008 12:45 pm ET

If the delusional hell-bent-on-diversity Dems nominate the unelectable Hillary or Obama, I will vote for any New York Mayor who runs, and I've never voted for a Repellican President .

hey allons,tn   January 1st, 2008 12:42 pm ET

hey just another billionair wanting to get richer god help us the poor.

Dean Wise   January 1st, 2008 12:40 pm ET

ok, let's go waste several million dollars more to feed another huge ego! Do we need another New Yorker in this presidential race? Think not.

Diane   January 1st, 2008 12:07 pm ET

As a resident of Queens,New York, living under the law of Bloomberg.....I absolutely hate it when it snows; every time he cries "It costs a million dollars an inch" (meaning cost of snow removal). He also has told me when and where to smoke as well as what kind of fats I am allowed to eat, both of which I really don't believe our government should be allowed to dictate to me. And lets not forget the congestion pricing plan he wants to introduce into NYC of which we have yet to realize the consequences, if any, of. Bloomberg for president is not a good idea.

Bill Culver, Covington,LA   January 1st, 2008 12:00 pm ET

Here we go again, it's all about the money. bloomberg will be president righr after barak steps down following the 8 year presidenency of kusnich. Following that logic, he should be president in2024, Happy days are here again. For Gaud sake people ...grow up.

alvaro acosta   January 1st, 2008 11:59 am ET

Yea, let him run, with Obama as his VP. The reason why more than 50 % of those who can vote do not vote is simply because neither party response to the needs of the average American and people just turned their backs to the political process. We need third a third alternative. Maybe that will trigger a real change in this Nation!

Bloomberg is a smart businessman who current has the respect of most Americans. Bloomberg should not go down in history forever tarnishing his good name. By jumping in 2008 race. Examples Steve Forbes, Ross Parot, Ralph Nader and soon Mitt Romney.

Big MONEY does NOT automatically give you the White house. Bloomberg can kindly donate millions to ME and I will be his good citizen who will do good with the money and get a return. (Give ME some money Bloomberg )

Maria   January 1st, 2008 11:53 am ET

Bloomberg has been an excellent Mayor here in NYC, although I don't agree with him on everything, but if he runs, it will be good news for the Republicans.

Matt   January 1st, 2008 11:08 am ET

Dee Ward Mena,

Just because there are 'enough candidates' does not mean they are the right choices for President. I certainly hope Bloomberg runs. He has my support over any of the current poor choices out there.

John   January 1st, 2008 10:43 am ET

Run, Mike! Run!

Dee Ward Mena, AR   January 1st, 2008 10:31 am ET

I certainly hope that Bloomberg, a man I think is very intelligent is intelligent enough to not pull a nader. If he wants to run for president, let him wait until the next election and get in at the beginning not jump in, in the middle and expect people to be waiting to vote for him like thompson did. We have enough candidates now so let the people make their choices.
