Thank you Brad, the millions that are spent in these elections are ridiculous. All that money can be well spent in medicare expensses and help the homeless. And all the billions spent with this war is seriously ridiculous. We are an embarrassment to the other countries.

We may have the military stand, but what about the Goverment intelligence? I feel that our allies are alot smarter then the U.S. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!

Spend your money elsewhere then these political contributions. This is all political fiasco.

Hopefully, Mrs Clinton will learn the lesson that George Steinbrenner and Jerry Jones learns every year...you just can't buy winning! And, you can get a new saddle, the best jockey, and a colorful bridle, but you still will not win the Derby on a mule!

If you got alot of money and name recogontion you too can get elected. What a sad commentery of American politics .Republicans hate the hollywood crowd but isn't it funny that the Terminator and Reagan were both Republicans, Democrats aren't much better they have Obama and Clinton as the top candidates in the Democratic field, a couple of one term senators with name recogntion and plenty of corporate money, they haven't passed any legislation with their name on it, they call that experience and change. The only change I want is a President who has the experience and leadership and the willness to be straight with the American public. I believe in Joe Biden and I hope Iowa does too.

Here, here kyu!

I donated a few hundred bucks to HRC, because she deserved it. It appears from the above comments that I am one of those malevolent corporate/lobbyist types. But I was not quiet in the previous election of Gore vs Bush, unlike Obama's chief supporter, Oprah, who experienced a change of heart to support CHANGE in this election cycle!

I consider myself in the lower middle-class, I work hard, pay my taxes, tuck in my kids in bed, go to church. I helped donating some of this money for the senator and I'm proud of my contribution... why can't you haters get it? you think that she is not worthy of attention and respect. this is a very talented woman and senator, she cares very deeply about this country and there is a movement that will take her far in this election so to all of you that which her harm, ill, or that make comments that she should go back to the kitchen! it will make your blood boil when she gets elected president and I for one can't wait for that day. let freedom reign! I am a patriot and I support Sen. Clinton! God Speed!

"Obama supporters, sorry, I donated several thousand dollars to Hillary as a house wife....."

Then you violated election laws.

The limit for donations from an individual is $2300 in 2007. So if you gave "several thousand dollars" as an individual "housewife" to Hillary, you broke the law. Not that you'd be alone in that regard...

I suspect that you did not give anything to Hillary and are making things up to try to cover for her.

Sorry, no sale! The hundred million was not culled from children's piggybanks and the egg and pin money of Iowa housewifes. It came from "aggragators" and PACs and other groups. Individual donations are a drop in the bucket compared to that.

"Now……how about answering some questions about all the illegal sources of many of those contributions? Or…..how about some of the Saudi shakedown contributions to Bill's library? Or…..how about why and from whom Chelsea is being paid over $ 100,000 yearly as a "consultant"? And how is is that all those people living in poverty in Chinatown are able to give the max $ 2,300 each to Hillary's campaign?"

Janet gets it! If someone could just answer these questions, then I would have no objection to Hillary. But when you raise these issues with a Hillary supporter or with the campaign, they refuse to answer, or they claim you are a "Bushie" or you are making an "unfair attack" (there is a fair attack?) or whatever.

They'l lchange the subject, but they'll never answer the question. Just for once, I'd like to see someone say "well, it isn't true, and here is a link to an article which shows that this money was obtained legally." But you never get that answer, do you?

If these things were untrue (like the Obama is a Muslim Terrorist thing) they would be easy to debunk. But the Hillary campaign just refuses to answer the questions, PERIOD. Instead we get vague generalities about "leadership" and "experience" and "taking back the Whitehouse".

By the way, Janet, you forgot the $100,000 Hillary made in 10 months with a $1000 investment as a novice commodities trader, the THREE MILLION Vin Guipta paid Bill Clinton, the Peter Paul Million dollar fundraiser, the Rupert Murdoch (FOX NEWS) Million dollar fundraiser, the Norman Hsu dirty money, and so on and so on and so on.

And that's just the stuff you can read about in the NY Times or Washington Post. How many other scams and cons are the Clintons running that we don't know about?

Clintonites - explain just ONE of these money deals.......just ONE!

Vote Hillary, Best President Money can buy!

What's that? You don't have tons of money to give her or a private jet to loan Hillary?

Then she does not care one whit about you.

How about a President who did not buy his way in, or ride in on his spouse's coattails?

Just a thought. It would be nice, wouldn't it?

kyu...the reason Hillary has over $100 million is that is she truly akin to the rich. Obama on the other hand has more small donors than Hillary, Edwards, Richardson, Biden and Dodd combined.

Hillary getting to over $100 million from donors who give the max per person ($2300) is impressive but questions who her base supporters are. I am willing to bet that over half of Hillary's money comes from people making $500,000 a year or more.

Add me to the list of contributors and proud of it! Check at the stats in NH. The only poll that I am taking seriously is the Zoby Daily Tracking. Also, there is plenty of info in regards to the DMR poll. Please read all of it besides the final numbers. You will then be enlightened of how they got those numbers.

Happy New Year, Smiling and HRC in '08!!

Obama supporters, sorry, I donated several thousand dollars to Hillary as a house wife, Hillary is worthier than money to me, I would donate million dollars if I have the money. Most of Hillary supporters think same way as I do, that's why she got $100 Million, we will continure donating to her in General Election.

Given the crappy financial shape our country is in today, with corporate greed at an all time high and still rising, with many Americans lacking medical insurance and many Americans losing their homes, ALL CANDIDATES SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES for wasting so much money on their fraudulent runs to see which one will pander to corporate greed for another four years.

This is akin to a corporate CEO arriving in a new Ferrari and a $5,000 suit to adress his or her minimum wage earners, and to thank them for making it a great year for "all of us."

<b>Aaron of Smithburg says:</b> <i>"...just have the wealthiest 3% of the country run our government. Oh wait they already do."</i>

The wealthiest 3% pay about 95% of the taxes--of course they have a huge influence on the way the country is run. If we'd make the apportionment of taxes fairer, the influence of "the wealthy" would be correspondingly decreased.

Or are you among those who want those nasty rich folk to do nothing but pay your bills for you?

Reading these comments, there is little doubt that most, if not all, of the nasty negative Hillary comment, must be coming from right wing nuts.If they are coming from the Obama people, shame are you, because no self respecting democrat would be slinging mud like that and just giving the repubs more things to talk about in the general election. Again shame you.

it is true that the obama camp raised over that mark as well...

its even more impressive that the money raised was from individual donors, mostly made up of smaller donations.

iowa has a chance to move this country forward , or live in the past.

i am sick of the politics of the past.
i like both kucinich and obama, but obama can win past the nomination.

What's impressive is when a candidate raises 6 million in 1 day from ordinary Americans. Ron Paul.

What is disgusting and distasteful is when a candidates raises 100 million that you know, most of it came from corporations and foreign contributions.

My vote is going to the candidate that I KNOW will not be selling out our country.

If ANYONE truly believes that Clinton and others with that sort of money will NOT be repaying their contributors in some way, they need to get their head out of the sand.

WASHINGTON (July 13) -- When Texas Gov. George W. Bush announced his record-shattering $36 million take from the first six months of 1999, the shock was felt throughout the political community. But to close observers of his fund-raising record as Texas governor, the news was less of a surprise.

Where did Bush get the money? Partly by turning to Texas. A third of his war chest was generated by Bush's home state fund-raising machine -- the same machine that powered his two runs for governor. "

Ron,

Although I agree with your assessment of the war - and the millions of better uses for those billions of dollars - please don't forget that Senator Clinton was one of the people who bowed to our President's thin arguments and sent us there in the first place.

Also, as to no one in the race being smarter than Ms.Clinton, do you know anything about Barack Obama? He was Editor of the Harvard Law Review while Hillary FAILED THE BAR EXAM!

Vote on Character, Vote on Intelligence, Vote on Vision For the Future - they all go to Barack Obama!!

ps. CNN, Seriously??? The top headline here is that the race is tied while your TV programming is saying quite the opposite! Barack is surging ahead! I can't wait!

HRC takes money from lobbyists. Americans should view that $100M number more with disdain than with awe. In other words, if you vote for HRC, you will be endorsing a candidate who is more throughly bought and paid for than any other in American history.

The real news should come from the Obama campaign. If they've matched it, that will be stunning and will send an extraordinary message given that none of his money has come from lobbyists.

This campaign proves the need for 100% public financing of political campaigns. The presidency and the Congress are essentially up for sale. We have developed a two-tier voting system. Corporations and very wealthy Americans vote with dollars, then middle-class citizens vote in the voting booth. Spending would be limited to the amount given to the campaign by the government. With each candidate equal in dollars, they would have to compete with ideas instead of cash. It couldn't be worse than the current system.

Interesting....I didn't see this on CNN..but MSNBC is reporting the following: "The poll by the Des Moines Register showed Obama, an Illinois senator, with the support of 32 percent of those surveyed, compared to 25 percent for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York and 24 percent for former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina." - could it be that HRC supporters are starting to listen to her completely unclear message....and they are holding her accountable for her prior statements that contradict her current message?? I'm a Republican...and while I don't love everything Obama has to say - his honesty is refreshing....if he would move his message to the old JFK "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" - and become a social liberal and fiscal conservative (i.e. Kennedy) - then he would capture 70% of the vote - as it sits now...there is only one moderate running...Giuliani....if the Republicans don't give him the nod....and Obama runs....I know many Republicans who will vote for him (we are sick and tired of the right wing too) - but...run Clinton..and we will vote against her....(we are sick and tired of liars and socialists more)

I was looking for some real information on policy stances, platform plans; but all I can find is a negatively slanted article about a candidate's daughter and an article that unexplainably singles out one candiadte and highlights how much money is spent on campaigns, which we all know is too much, even though every candidate is spendig every dime they can scare up. CNN, if you wanted to use that as a segue into the candidates stances on campaign finance reform and public funding, that would be responsible and informative reporting. Oops, what was I thinking?

For all of ther campaign staffs posting on here treating this as if it were some new piece of information and spinning it as a positive or a negative, give it a rest. Is this type of news (along with a young lady's reasonable request not to provide interviews since she is not running for any office) really what the American peple are using to make their decision on who shoud run their country?

this is the cold hearted treatment the clintons will give their public in the future. she is not going to win, but when a 27 yr old can't be a little more politer to a little person, shows the callousness.

women voting for her is very deceived, and would find out in the future.

the gift of discernment is very necessary in these days we are living in.
the eyes are the window of the soul. LOOK DEEP...

N.C.

if people cannot have a successful family, how can they have a successful nation.?

KINDNESS, and HONESTY, are important issues. lacking in this canidate.

<B> YEA THAT SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT </B>

"Im the biggest corpate and china pawn"

Well now its clear who will be running the Whitehouse.

China and Corpate

Yes to dragging out the Iraq war longer, Yes to spin a 3rd occupation on Iran. That will fulfill her promise to the massive donations.
China loves the war that another trillion dollar deficit China can hold on us. Yes to more middle class jobs being shipped to China. We be a nation of minimum wage and elite rich
Well at least Clinton be part of the Elite rich among the mass poor of America.

Vote YES for Hillary and Vote Yes to sell America to Corpate and China new dynasty. Time to completely tear down the constitution and replace it with Corpate manifest destiny.

Well at least you will have free substandard medical care. Some high school drop out with a government class and degree in medical license sponsored by government education of medicine. The real doctors will be working privately or move to another country where they will be paid for their skill. There not going to be told how much they can charge lol. Not the ones with real skills and talent. Doctors with 8 year degrees don’t grow off of tress lol. There is a reson why the Soviet Union collasped and this was one of em.

<i>*searching the empty hallways of the CNN Ticker for any mention of the Des Moines Register poll with Obama set to trounce Clinton in Iowa*</i>

Huh. All I can find is this story about Clinton's million dollars.

I wonder if she will share any of it with her "tall and attractive" mute daughter?

When all the hubub is pushed aside and the real person becomes known,it is obvious that Ms Clinton"s intelligence and professionalism and her ability to logically and calmly talk about the issues will give her a tremendous advantage in the negotiating process. Even the staunchest conservative knows that politics is the art of negotiation. No one in either race is smarter than Ms Clinton, nor has a better grasp of the needs of our country at this time. Her sensitivity to world health and poverty issues is totally appropriate for a world leader. It seems to me that the cost of the war in Iraq could fund countless social programs for years to come. How dare our GREAT president say childrens health insurance is too costly. And for you ultra conservatives --how many babies have been killed as the result of this terrible war that is over. Which is worse abortion or bullets.. where is the outrage--where is the outrage.

It's mind boggling to think about the huge cost to run a presidential campaign. $100 million is a lot of money that could go to feeding the hungry in a large part of the world. Awesome doesn't even approximate the financial requirement for this campaign, and we're just talking of one candidate. Whew! All these money to convince voters to write just one name on the ballot!
