Mike Huckabee has set his sights on South Carolina's upcoming primary.

Mike Huckabee has set his sights on South Carolina's upcoming primary.

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (CNN) - GOP Iowa caucus winner Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, said he's "seen momentum build" in the last few weeks and pledged to ride it to the Republican nomination, despite what looked to be a third-place finish in the New Hampshire primary.

"Ladies and gentlemen, a few weeks ago, we were way back in sixth place and nobody thought we would even be contenders in New Hampshire," he said.

"If there's any sadness tonight," he said, "it's not because of where we finished because, whew, we're pretty happy about that."

Huckabee called the finish "better than anybody thought this old Southern boy could do in New England."

Huckabee had 12 percent of the vote with 29 percent of precincts counted in New Hampshire. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, projected by CNN to be the winner, had 38 percent, and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was projected to finish second and had 28 percent.

Twelve percent of precincts had reported results when CNN projected McCain to win and Romney to finish second, basing the projection on those results, exit polls and other statistical models - including the number of votes outstanding in areas where McCain is expected to do well.

If this were 1262 instead of 2008, his ideas might make more sense.

Yes Mike Huckabee is deeply religious. Obviously being a pastor means you are a man of character and substance with high moral fiber right? Not to mention immense leadership qualities –you know like Jim Baker, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggert, Ted Haggert, and Pat Robertson.

I'm sure he has the leadership credentials to take Americans where he wants to go too just like Jim Jones, David Koresh, Marshall Applewhite and Warren Jeffs.

Here's my tip–don't drink the kool-aid.

You got to hand it to him. Huckabee landed third place in a state nowhere near the Bible Belt!

Huckabee will make a great president. He is a good man that stands up for what he blieves in. He will respect and protect our Constitution and ensure that our messed up society will have morals once again! He doesnt change just to say what people want to hear. He speaks well and comes accross very sincere.
God Bless you Huckabee. You have my vote!

Obama recently said that he and his wife had only recently finished paying off their own student loans and started saving for their kids' college education. He also said that, until recently, he would do the family's grocery shopping himself. He said Michele told him, "eight years from now we will have lost touch with what ordinary Americans are going through" and that "we'll be in a different orbit."

"I think when you're in Washington for a long time you lose touch" and "it becomes harder to relinquish power,” he added.

AKA he'll lose his connection with the real people of the United States and THEIR needs, not lobbyist in Washington needs.

In addition Romney also says, McCain IS Washington.

What's wrong with people!! McCain will bring not one drop of change to Washington. He is 72 years old! He has been in Washington so long, how does he know what the people want? ..

I admire Romney and I think he would do this country a world of help. He is practical about what he says, elegant, poised, knowledgeable, experienced, honorable, RESPECTFUL...did it just kill anyone else to see McCain LAUGHING at his opponents in the debates last night?????? That was so unbelievably disrespectful and condescending, I just wanted to scream it made me so mad. Even Bush laughs WITH US, not at us (or more often Bush laughs at himself).

In any case, McCain: Thank you for your wonderful service you have done for our country, but we need a fresh face, fresh start, and your not that man.

Romney would make an excellent president.

DON'T GIVE UP YOUR DAY JOB.

Huckabee did well in a part of the country which is not impressed by people who eat grits and talk with a twang. Every town square has a big monument to the young men who died in the great war against Dixie.

I hope both races are undecided going into the conventions, for a change.
