In the New Hampshire Democratic primary
CNN estimates:
* Hillary Clinton has won 9 New Hampshire delegates (3 statewide, 6 district-level)
* Barack Obama has won 9 New Hampshire delegates (3 statewide, 6 district-level)
* John Edwards has won 4 New Hampshire delegates (2 statewide, 2 district-level)
* 22 Democratic delegates were at stake in the New Hampshire primary
* There are also 8 Democratic “superdelegates” in New Hampshire. Of those, 2 support Clinton and 3 support Obama, according to a CNN survey.
***
In the New Hampshire Republican primary
CNN estimates:
* John McCain has won 7 New Hampshire delegates
* Mitt Romney has won 4 New Hampshire delegates
* Mike Huckabee has won 1 New Hampshire delegate
* 12 GOP delegates were at stake in the New Hampshire primary
* All GOP delegates at stake in the New Hampshire primary are statewide

Great job, keep working for the people hilary. we need someone like you, someone who has doen something for this country before.
So Hillary won the vote, but Barack gets more delegates?!? Sounds good to me. (But please stop bad-mouthing our caucuses for being confusing.)
somehow, someway something smells about this hrc victory, i think her tears fooled the female voters, what a shame!
GO HILLARY GO, GO HILLARY GO, GO HILLARY GO….
TELL THE "JUNIOR" SENATOR TO GO POUND SAND.
YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE OF ALL THE CANDIDATES DEM OR REP THAT WAS INVOLVED IN GIVING THIS COUNTRY A SURPLUS…. I DON'T CARE HOW MAD I GET AT MY ACCOUNTANT, I DON'T EVEN LIKE HIM…. BUT HE HAS MADE ME A WEALTHY WOMAN AND I CAN RETIRE.
HILLARY ,GET BUBBA ( our first black president) TO CHIP IN AND HELP WITH THE BOOKS AND GET US BACK ON TRACK GIRL. YOU WERE THERE …YOU EXPERIENCED HOW ITS DONE… DO IT FOR US AGAIN.
If they have the same amount of delegates, how is it much of a victory for Clinton?
I call this a draw maybe even Obama +1 due to the super delegates... of course those can swing either way in the end.
Yes, America, the most poweful country in the world, in history and on the planet. Congratualtions! What an opportunity!
What is your agenda for the world, for history, for the planet?
Take the world with you or against you?
so, Clinton and Obama are first then? they both got the same number of NH delagates, what was the point of an election then?
Obama's speach tonight in NH was more inspiring and soaring than his speech in Iowa. Why doesn't CNN replay that? I'm still undecided, but I love great oratory. Where can I see a replay? Where can I get a transcript?
So in other words it wasnt a Clinton victory but a TIE!!!!
I am somewhat obtuse, I suppose, but since New Hampshire is Delegate Driven it seems to me that neither candidate won here and the celebration is therefore somewhat hollow, but I suppose voters may not see that – good thing it is not November.
Go girl! (Hillary Clinton) we have got to get those oil boys out of the WHITE HOUSE before they kill any more of our young men and women for their bank accounts! I am a Vietnam Vet and nobody has every done anything for me after I got back!
Instead of spending all this money that is collected for running these primaries why can’t some of the funds be used to help the needy instead of the rich! Why bad ad campaigns? Why not food for the poor! Why not help clinics for the poor sick! Why not play clubs for poor neighborhoods so the killings will stop! Why not educate those that are in prisons so they can get a job when they get out! Why not do something for us now while you are all on your way to the White House!
"Hey, folks! Did you know there are more candidates on the ballot in Arizona than any other state? We've got real choices for change! Check out the candidates at Project White House 08"
You won’t find a stranger bunch anywhere!
Hillary phoney crying is the most pathetic crying ever, shame on New Hamshire.
McCain surrouded by Military men, McCain is a War Monger and that is going to start to hit him.
Hillary going for the sympathy vote is sad sad sad.
Romney is a solid contender all the time and when he starts to hit and hit hard, he will take the lead in my veiw.
Whats interesting is independents voted for Hillary not Democrats, those who know her best like her the least.
That sure looks like an Obama win to me! The winner of the nomination is the one that gets the most delegates, not the most votes!
The rigor of the electioneering process of seeking voters on a case (state) by Case (state) basis is the beauty of democracy in America. It provides opportuntiy for the people to engage, understand and get to known their president even before he/she is elected.
This is what America needs to export to other countries; modified, amplified or simplified but it ensures that we all get the opportunity to engage or listen...
I gues this is why its called the land of Opportunity.
God Bless America and I wish Madam Clinton all the luck she can get, Obama will certainly give her a fight for the White House.
Clinton wins a stunning victory!
(and oh yeah, Obama comes away with one more delegate than Hillary, thanks to the Superdelegate.)
This is one bizarre election system we have here.
Its a tie in NH. Great job Barack and thank you. We're fired up and ready to work hard for you.
So, Obama really was the "true winner" in New Hampshire... he and Hillary have the same number of voted delegates (9 each), but Obama has 3 superdelegates and Hillary only has 2... so that makes Obama the real winner with 12 delegates total, vs. Hillary's 11. ??? So what is the REAL news story? Please report the full facts, not just the hype! Thank you.
i agree... when candidates drop out of the race, do the delegates pledged to them go to the eventual nominee?
Right in the midst of a traditionally Clinton region, an African-American candidate got as much as 37% of the votes, while Clinton herself got only 39%, same number of delegates (9).
I consider this an AWESOME feat from the Obama camp! Huge implications against amazing odds! I don't agree with many in the press who title their articles as "Hillary with big win!"
Personally i think the accomplishment belongs to OBAMA!
Actually, if Obama takes 3 superdelegates to Clinton's 2, that means Obama actually exits NH with 12 delegates to Clinton's 11, correct?
I don't fully understand the system... but if Obama has the same number of delegates as Clinton, and more superdelegates... then who's the real winner here?
Has anyone considered that the Democratic process is doing well in that N.H. guaranteed that the discussion continues for all of us to get involved? The speculation that Senator Obama would win in N.H. because the surge of attendance/supporters at his rallies and the positive response to his message is to underestimate the voter. Senator Clinton is a well known candidate. Her involvement in politics has been steady and consistent. She is centrist, in many ways. Senator Obama is an exciting new candidate who's views and patterns have not yet been fully elucidated but whose position is edging more to the left. Since I feel I don't know him as well, i.e. Senator Obama, I would be more inclined to go to his rally to hear him expand his sound bites. His words of change and hope are compelling but I need content, context and practical solutions to show just how that change and hope can occur. So, I eagerly await his details. I already know Senator Clinton's and former Senator Edward's details, so I don't need to necessarily attend one of their rallies. However, if I really want to make the most informed decision, I need to listen to each and compare what they say to what they do. Only then can I judge them on the content of their character. In reality, all of the Democratic line-up are stellar. I've never known such a wealth of quality politicians from which to choose. Senator Joe Biden has an outstanding plan for withdrawal from Iraq (even though he's out); Gov. Richardson is eminently qualified with his diverse history of diplomacy; Former Senator John Edwards challenges us to get rid of the 'good ol' pal network' of the wealthy lobbiests representing the few determining the outcomes for the many. I've never been more proud to be a Democrat. We have a great slate of potential. Whoever wins the Presidency, she'll have a wonderful talent pool to draw from for her cabinet.
If you really want to get the men and women out of Iraq, you had better do your homework before you vote, because of all of the Democratic Candidates, Hillary is the last one that will do that.
Ok... I'm in agreement with Sean. Someone help me understand this. If, they both received 3 staewide and 6 district levels...looks like a tie.
How is a winnner declared?? Does anyone have a answer
Clinton and Obama each won 9 delegates in New Hampshire. I'd call that a tie.
Am I reading this wrong or does Obama end up with more deligates than Clinton by 1 when you count the "superdeligates" ?
What is a superdelegate? So Obama gets 12 and Hillary gets 11 and its Hillary victory? Its whatever story the press feels like telling. After every primary these candidates celebrate like they just won the presidency. I'm ready for change- the end of this election!
Here is the winning ticket! Hilary Clinton get Democrat nomination and pick Obama to be the Vice President running mate. After 8 years, Obama runs for the president again. Democrats could hold the white house for 16 years. That is the change. If Obama wins the nomination, he might end up picking John Edwards as running mate, that loses the appeal.
If Clinton and Obama each got 9 regular delegates from NH, plus 3 "superdelegates" supporting Obama and 2 supporting Clinton, then it appears that Obama won this primary.
Clinton: 9 delegates + 2 "superdelegates" = 11 votes at convention
Obama: 9 delegates + 3 "superdelegates" = 12 votes at convention
Obama won New Hampshire, not Clinton.
I believe there was NOT a winner in New Hampshire, but it was a TIE. Both Obama and Clinton received 9 delegates? Why is Clinton feeling as if she was a winner??
Obama/Edwards 2008
We don't need another Clinton; we need CHANGE and a "YES, I CAN attitude!"
Told ya so!
Yes, I said Clinton would come back, but
I did so with decency; pointing out differences and alerting the disparties in Barack's records.
I've always said out here, and still do – that Barack is a nice guy and good public speaker but I will again point out that CLINTON HAS THE EXPERIENCE TO DELIVER THE CHANGE WE NEED – ON DAY ONE! SHE HAS ALREADY PROVEN CHANGE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO.
Unlike hillary-haters, I never stooped to horrible insults; its no longer effective.
...and who wouldn't deliver change after Bush's disaster...
So, I'm so sorry that the media and many messengers prematurely crowned Barack the 'King of the world' It was a mistake I knew they would make.
I'm glad N.H and the rest of the country will view these primaries with depth and substance instead of the just the 'flavor of the week'
Isn't the number of delegates the magic number? Not some 39% to 37% "win" or "loss" (depending on who you happen to be rooting for). I don't understand the big deal about the Clinton win (or Obama loss, again, depending which camp you're in) when it's the number of delegates that count. Aren't they even now? Or isn't Obama still ahead by 1 delegate with his win in Iowa? It's two states for Pete's sake...
how sad that the only way a woman can win an election in the US is to ride on her husband's coattails and then shed crocodile tears when she starts to lose the election. if that is the only way to get a woman into the presidency, i'd rather go for the first black president, citizen of the world with an eye to the future. hillary is the past, she is just yet another corporate-enslaved lackey who will do nothing for america but continue to kowtow to big companies as america falls apart. remember how much america changed under clinton? not at all, exactly! in fact, it became even more right-wing. i am a lifelong democrat, but like many, if hillary wins the nomination, i am sitting out the main election in november, or going green
Responding to Sean & Mark... Actually, Obama got 1 more delegate than Hillary in NH! Check the numbers on the delegate score card. They split the "up for grabs" delegates down the middle, and there were "other" delegates. Obama got 3, Hillary 2. This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Iowa & NH both are very small states. There are 1000s of delegates needed to win, and we are only talking about a handful. On the GOP side, Romney has the most right now. Check it out!
well, not the correct reasons but symphaty won her this primary. after that debate, after the breakdown, under normal circumstances she should have lost by more margins this time. it is great Obama have not at least trailed in the number of delegates won.
I agree with the first two comments here – if they got the same number of delegates, did either one really win? And it looks like, when you add the delegates from Iowa, Obama actually has one more delegate than Hillary. Why is she being called the frontrunner then?
It's also interesting that a 3% difference is being called a "big win". Am I missing something here?
Sean CA, exactly.
Also McCain won 7 delegates here while Romney won 8 in Wyoming, so what's the big deal in McCain's win here? It doesn't match up with Wyoming plus Romney picked up 4 by coming in second in NH -and Thompson got 3 from Wyoming, McCain got none there.
Obama for Ambassador to UN, Clinton for President!
Man seriously this suck beyond words.
I am just tired of these people in the white house.
Can we just start a new page. Do we have to do this again and again and again.
Are women voting for her because she is crying.
Are we going to get back to the same place we are now, not being able to deal with republicans or any issue.
Do these peole not realize it's time to move on.
we the younger generation are so thirsty for change.
it's nothing against Hillary, really it's not. I just don'want to see the same poeple over and over again.
think about this carefully America please.
I am one of those who do believe this is a pivital moment and if we mess it up it will not come back for along time or it may never again show itself.
I urge neveda michigan and alll the other state that are left.
the country is begging I mean pleading it's heart out for a new direction.
It's not over but it seem like a lot of you still want to live in the past
Congratulations to the people of New Hampshire who have shown us all that they have brains enough to decide on what is right for them and for America in general despite all ill-driven campaingn that has been carried out by all media – painfully, including CNN – against some presidencial candidates.
Hopefully, we – especially the media – have learned a very good lesson: do your job and do it right for the people and the nation.
Last night proved that most Americans are thankfully still very savvy by voting for Hillary Clinton and not for the 'latest fad running through town'.
Go get them Girl – we are proud of you.
Iam a great fan for American Politics.
Please Americans go ahead and show even more maturity to the world.
All planet eyes are always on America whenever you have elections.
I have heard some people say that whites can never vote a black (OBAMA).
Please Show the world that you are above racial discrimnation especially if Obama is capable of leading your great nation America.
We are waiting upon you.
God Bless America
Bisheko James from Uganda
The polls before Clintons narrow victory really baffle me. It is incledible that a lead of double digits could be diminished by even the Clinton machine in such a short period of time. I do hope the way the way in which all polls were conducted is examined so that in the future we have some sense if we can pay any attention to way polls tell us.
Congrats to Hillary, but she was not my choice. She reinvented her public self in such a hurry I bet her head is spinning, not knowing what self to present when she walks out the door of the hotel and in front of the cameras. The clip of her with Chris Mathews, first taking questions and being her hard nosed self and then walking up to him and seductively the "Oh, Chris Baaaby". I thought OMG this is Hillary??? Oh well....she should been more down to earth and likeable so we did not have to waste so much energy not liking her all this time. For me it will take a lot more than a narrow win in New Hamshire. She needs to get more inline with what the country really wants in regards to CHANGE and HOPE. No more Billy Boy tagging along making an ass out of himself and her as well might be a good idea. STAY REAL Hillary and you will win more pimaries.
The "Superdelegates" are appointed by the Democratic National Committee, and were created to dilute some of the power of the State Delegates. Because they can vote however they want. They make up about 1/5 of the National Convention, whereas the State Delegates that were just awarded to each candidate make up the remaining 4/5 of the National Convention.
They are the ones that will be trying to convince the State Delegates to switch their votes at the National Convention to who is most "electable". So they can "subvert" the balance of what was voted on in the states primaries.
Should money and influence worry you there? You bet!!! Don't let the parties get away with this. (similar but less numbers of what are called "undesignated" delegates exist in the Republican party that are similar)
Watch in the National Convention how they change your states vote to unanimous for one candiate. Wonder how that is achieved? Maybe you should ask them.
I am confused (or dense). If Mrs. Clinton is ahead of Mr. Obama by popular vote in NH, why doesn't she have more delegates than he?
If clinton and obama have equal numbers of delegates, why sholud I waste time watching them. Think of it though,OBAMA is the winner.Hillary has no business going to the white house. She is a helpmate to Bill so the finsh their time.Let OBAMA be.
Iam Kucinich supporter but must admit that Hillary won NH.5 day ago, Hillary was 20 points ahead of Obama in NH.She did good work in getting absentee ballots before her popularity waned. She had to plant two males with "iron my shirt "to appeal to women, cry out publicly to be human!.My goodness!Where are we going? Is America ready for cry babies in the White House?Obama fought a good fight and he beat a powerful coalition of the Clinton firewall to become a close second.
Don't beleive the HYPE!
Wow! It was edge of the seat stuff but what a night, I stayed up all night (I'm in Ireland) and it was worth it. The cream of the crop rose to the top and though my loyalties lie with Hillary, I'd rather McCain over Obama any day!
OMG!!!
So it's a TIE...well, New Hampshire doesn't mean anything.
What this Country DOESN'T need is this to happen...
BUSH – CLINTON (Bill) – BUSH (JR) – CLINTON (OvertheHillary)
This country NEEDS FRESH YOUNG and to be DRIVEN in a NEW DIRECTION!!!!
So this isn't quite the win for Hillary that the media is spinning.
This is funny! Since when did the Clintons become KIDS compared to a freshman Senator from Illinois? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!
You know that the American people want to move forward in a fundamentally new direction, when the former first lady only struggles to get the same amount of NH delegates as a freshman Senator (9 a piece). Obama eventually got MORE delegates than Clinton (12-11).
Obama consistently wins the CHANGE vote and the INDEPENDENTS vote. That tells you who's more electable. Somehow Independents thought Obama had it in the bag and they decided to go help McCain. That's why Clinton managed to tie Obama. Now, let's get back to work, sweet Obamamites!
This is a very bad sign for the US. Outside of GWB Hillary is the MOST divisive politician in US politics today. She will further polarize an already bitter, angry, disparate voting public. Further divisions between left and right is not what is needed right now and that is what she will bring to the table – that and her last name.
Hey folks, so we spent an entire weekend guessing who might win, and everyone was wrong anyway. I want my NEWS back. we have boats harrassing us in International waters, and a president in the middle east, and I am sick to death of politico-talk. Lets get back to what's happaning in the world and maybe cover the primaries on the DAY of the primary. Otherwise, we are in for a very long, boring year.
If both Clinton and Obama won 9 delegates how can Clinton claim a win?
Out with the old, in with the new. I agree with Kim on the news, I'd like it to be real news anyway!
can we expect the rest of the clinton campaign to be centered on a crying woman?
do we want out country run by a crying woman?
the new hampshire vote is a reflection of emotions, not due process.
I can't believe the CNN question out there on the front page: Just imagining having to decide between Clinton and McCain in a national election makes me completely nauseous. McCain is a fossil, from another era, another time. Clinton is, well, Clinton. The Clinton-Bush dynasty needs to stop now. But all McCain will give us is more years of war and more enemies around the globe with American arrogance.
In fact, Obama won because he got more delegates than Clinton!!! Don't forget that 3 of the "superdelegates" voted for OBAMA and only 2 of them voted for Clinton.
Score: Obama 12, Clinton 11
GO OBAMA!!!
Guess what? We are in for a very long, boring year. I am gazing into my crystal ball and I see no change in the pundidiots in spite of their being wrong about nearly everything. A win in New Hampshire is just that, a win in New Hampshire. Now everyone that had buried Hillary Clinton is scrambling in all directions trying to explain why she isn't still dead. I support John Edwards but see him fading fast. Don't like Obama because I need more of a message than "hope and change". And I sure as hell don't think that anyone can work with the Republicans in Washington. I want a fighter. If I don't get Edwards I guess I'll go with Hillary. Hillary/Clark seems like pretty good ticket to me.
Obama, Clinton ... does it really matter? For the most part, they're not talking about real change; just shifting few things around here and there. Domestic and foreign policy are driven by money. Always have been always will be; no presidential candidate can change that. So let the people keep their money by getting rid of income tax, and alleviate the crushing inflation that makes our money worth so little. The only candidate who recognizes that and talks about making our money *worth* something again is Ron Paul.
Diamond makes an astute observation from the text. Obama has 12 delegates versus 11 for Hildabeast. (If the survey of the superdelegates is assumed correct).
That means, come convention time, the state of New Hampshire (in addition to Iowa) goes to Mr. Obama.
Barack: 2
Hillary: 0
My math may be rusty, but if Clinton and Obama each won the same number of Delegates, that would make New Hampshire a tie. Oh except one other item, There are 8 Super Delegates, of which 5 have pledged their support, 2 to Clinton and 3 to Obama. Again my Math may be off, but at the moment, doesn't that make Obama the winner of New Hampshire?
With Romney's 30 delegates, Huckabee's 21, and McCain's 10 ROMNEY IS THE WINNER SO FAR! The pundits try to twist the story to their point of view rather than giving the hard facts about delegates won. It's a 50 state affair with far too much hyperbole on the early campaigns.
I don't understand why some of you are so discouraged. We've started knowing about Obama less than four years ago, what is not the case with the Cintons. If the guy did this in NH I think it's a huge victory. Obama is the America's choice whether you like it or not. Those who booed him will cry these coming days.
America, wake up from your deep sleep, you leader is there! Obama will lead you to the promised land: Unity !!!!!!!
I have been a bit torn up about which canidate to vote for myself.
I guess New Hampshire feels the same way!
Question – What happens to John Edward's delegates if he concedes – can he give them to Obama?
OK, 9 each and "* There are also 8 Democratic “superdelegates” in New Hampshire. Of those, 2 support Clinton and 3 support Obama, according to a CNN survey."
So that is 12 – 11 Obama favored, so on with the show.
In spitde of the 39% vs 37% supposedly victory of Sen. Hil Clinton, Sen. Barack is still the winner. His speech last night just goes to show you the character of the man and his sincerity to bring this country together in unity. His speech was as impeccable and as consistent as he is. I think that Hillary should borrow a page from him. I listened to both speeches last night and all I heard from her was gloating. The fact that her supporters booed Sen. Barack was just a reflection of what kind of people really support her. SORE LOSERS!!!
The media have been behind Hillary from day one and they helped put her over the top. If she is so experienced and knows exactly how to run the country, why didn't she do something during her eight years in the White House? She says she has 35 years of experience. Most of it was as a spectator. What has she done? Now she has all the answers. The Clintons had their chance and it is no longer their time. Some of the messes we are in today stem from Bill Clinton's leadership. And I was a Clinton supporter during both his terms. Now they are part of the old Washington politics. Let's give someone with new ideas – and no past to forgive – a chance to change our world.
Bill W – Edwards can release his delegates – but he can't force them to go with one candidate or another.
FOX & Friends" gang the Most biased clueless political team on TV- Next to the old cronie Chris Matthews on MSNBC. Biggest IDIOT in the news goes to Bill Kristol! Who said this guy knows anything about voters; he gives gay people a bad name? Fred Barnes, Mort Kondracke, Bill Kristol and Nina Easton ALL looked like deer in the head lights all night! Could not think of anything to say on camera. Since they were proven they did not have a clue!!! We laughed at FOX trying to keep talking about republican race that ended 15 min after the polls closed.
Clueless-EASTON: She's not going to pull it out here. WRONG
Clueless-KRISTOL: She has lost the first two states, it looks like, and I think she'll lose the next couple. WRONG
Clueless-Barnes: She's the problem, that's what people don't like. They don't like her. They don't trust her. WRONG
Mrs. Ladybird Johnson Former First Lady, United States Of America. Women can move beyond the struggle for equal status and for material goods to the challenges and opportunities of citizenship. I always hope that the very best of our people will go into politics and some of our best are women. So, I say: "Don't hold back. Don't be shy. Step forward in every way you can to plan boldly, to speak clearly, to offer the leadership which the world needs. to pluck out prejudice from our lives, to remove fear and hate where it exists, and to create a world unafraid to work out its destiny in peace. Eleanor Roosevelt has already made her own splendid and incomparable contribution to that foundation. Let us go and do likewise, within the measure of our faith and the limits of our ability. Let Eleanor Roosevelt teach Us all to turn the arts of compassion into the victories of democracy. Eleanor Roosevelt taught us that sometimes silence is the greatest sin. VOTE CLINTON 2008
Hillary should fire Penn and hire Carville. She also needs to discuss the issues as she sees them and how Obama is not talking about them. So far, Obama talks a good talk, but his rhetoric is shallow. Hillary has the experience–it was obvious during the NH debate. She needs to challenge her opponent to state his platform.
So for all intents and purposes, Obama actually won by one superdelegate.
There was a double victory for the Obama campaign in New Hampshire: first that he could win an equal number of delegates as Hillary, and second that the media will hopefully butt out and let the candidates and voters interact.
As a british person, I am at a loss. How the results from New Hampshire can declare a winner in the contest? I thought a draw would a proper result or a win for Obama, due to the 2 to 1 win, or am I missing something here?
The tears swung the minds of the delegates? (Bo ho) funny way to choose a leader, shed crocodile tears and you win. Just a thought.
I' m sick and tired hearing of your shameless promoting, self proclaimed Best Political Team. It seems to me they too were wrong in the New Hampshire primaries. They're nothing more than Monday morning quarterbacks. You could hear the same commentary on other networks who don't have "the best political team". One question – how come no one from "the best political team" said one word about delegates to the respective conventions won by each candidate. Did they forget that's how the nomination process works?
O you bet Hillary's crowd are sore losers. That crowd was probably not even from NH. This primary does not pass the smell test. Hillary is too cocksure about being the nominee she told Couric she WOULD be the nominee as did McAulifee. Both say this with such certainty even before the IA caucuses that it is hard to beleive this is not rigged. Hillary had a very small crowd for there to have been a massive turnout and for her to have won with 2% more of the vote. They called for more Democratic ballots early yet they say the independent vote was split evenly between McCain and Barack. If this is true we know those Democratics were not coming out in droves fo vote for Hillary. She is too dislike. But with the corrupt machine politics they could eek out a win for her just like they did for Bill. Note how both came within 2% only Bill lost. Even so, they get the same number of delegates thus the comeback kid moniker for Bill. The real story is going untold and that is how Barack has galvanized a movement in this country. Now if only we the people are allowed to elect the people's candidate instead of the dirty political rigging of votes that we have witnessed last night in NH. Obama is by far the best candidate.
Now, I get it - Just like with the Electoral College, it's not about raw numbers; it's about delegates where it counts:
Obama – 3 statewide delegates, 6 district delegates, 3 superdelagates = 12
Clinton – 3 statewide delegates, 6 district delegates, 2 superdelagates = 11
Edwards – 2 statewide delegates, 2 district delegates
Obama wins! Edwards will give his delegates to Obama, for a total of 16 delagates to Clinton's 11. Repeat that through the primary season, and Obama can wrap this up before the convention.
Do you think Hillary would consider being Vice President?
Don't forget the TOTAL delegate count now stands 180 for Hillary (including superdelegates) and 78 for Obama (including superdelegates). Go Hillary! Keep rackin' 'em up!
Constant winning: be it second or first all the time will eventually put u first. Go Romney
Vote ABC – Anyone but Clinton.
So I'm not getting this delegate thing – you can "win" a delegate, but they don't have to vote for you? And there are "Super Delegates" who can vote for whoever they want? It all sounds crooked to me.
EXCUSE ME....DOES ANYONE REALIZE THERE ARE 2 PARTIES RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT? A N D MORE THAN 3 CANIDATES? HELLLLLLOO THERE ARE SOME REPUBLICANS OUT HERE THAT WOULD LIKE SOME NEWS ON OUR CANIDATES!!!!!
WOW... amazing the ignorance (and shall we say lack of experience) that shows from Obama supporters....obvious from their comments that they do NOT know the process of the delegates going to the National Convention to choose the party's candidate....the tally that CNN has is obviously incomplete IF you want to include superdelegates... which you really cannot do now because those votes can (and most likely will in some cases) change between now and the convention. Plus, CNN is only including superdelegates that have "pledged" their support publicly at this point... so the total delegate count in NH is NOT finished yet....just like Iowa's is not finished yet either.... yes, the portion of delegates decided by the public vote/causcus total have been determined and that is the only for sure number...and Obama is leading by one at this point ....
Keep tuned.....no matter what anyone says this is not going to be decided anytime soon....
And maybe some of you guys should educate yourself on the process instead of spending your time showing your ignorance here in the ticker blog...
I wish there was something to make it clear how the delegate system works in both parties. This is confusing to people. Is there some way or place that does the explaining?
I love how all of you love "great oratory" from senator Obama and Hillary. Last time I checked, it was actions that got the job done, not saying a bunch of "inspiring" crap to make you vote for the person. Ron Paul has stayed consistent throughout his years in Congress, and is virtually untouchable as far as doing what he says. Picture a toilet flushing, and that is what is happening to our once great nation...
ha! so she "won" but he dint have to win to win HA HA HA
I really liked the Clinton ERA and its impact on the Middle Class but their willingness to hit below the belt with the "WIN AT ALL COST" tactics make me question their integrity. In addition I feel that many of their policy flaws didn't show up until after Clinton left office (nafta, cafta etc.) And I really have to reflect back to their lack of support during the "04" Campaign. It shines light on the fact that they really wanted GEORGE BUSH to win so that she(Hillary) could win with little opposition atleast so they thought. That is a campaign built for individual success namely (THEIRS) and NOT the PEOPLE"S SUCCESS
any prediction for Michigan?
PLEASE.................
Don't you think that after 20 years we need someone other than a Bush or a Clinton to lead us. So, too, McCain is a real patriot but he's been around forever. If it's Hillary, where's the change? As a republican yearning for change, I'd vote for Obama over McCain. I'd vote for McCain over Hillary. I'd vote for Romney over all of them.
This is a victory for Clinton's democratic machine. I'm still wondering what she accomplished in the Senate. For that matter, what experience did she have to win the Senate seat in New York State? A failed health care plan. Maybe if you consider table placements and seating world leaders at dinners in the White House she has significant experience over Barrack. Hillary is an anomaly of the Press. Her expereince is imaginary.
Barrack is the candidate of true conviction and has an uncorrupted vision for America. As for the expereince, when he started as a US Senator he had eight years experience on the the state level which far exceeds Hillary's.
Barrack means what he says while Hillary tells a Americans what they want to hear.
American don't get fooled by the Hillary spin machine! Look at her Senate record. What legislation has she put forth and passed? It's time to stand up and really be counted. Vote Barack Obama 08 and get a say in the future of America.
A piece of advice for John Edwards, expand your list of examples for your speeches when it comes to the health care issue. I am very much behind your use of powerful concrete examples but as someone following the race to the Whitehouse closely hearing exactly the same message over and over is not as exciting as your competitors. I understand the importance of staying on message but I think that can be done more effectively than you are now doing it. I hope you will continue to enliven the debate with your very valid points.
So Hill has 9 Delegates and Obama has 9 Delegates and Hill has 2 superdelegates and Obama has 3 superdelegates.
So
9 + 2 = 11
And
9 + 3 = 12
and
11 < 12
but Hillary won?!?
So what you are saying is.... Obama one MORE delagates than Clinton.
The "win" will get her momentum, as Iowa got Obama some. But really, this election is pretty much dead even. The interesting part will be what Edwards and Richardson do after they lose in their home states....
4 years ago, we had a scandal with voting machines. DIEBOLD manfactured the machines. The CEO of DIEBOLD was a huge Bush supporter, and stated publicly that he "guaranteed" George Bush the election. And by a "miracle", George Bush won the presidency on the final state, Ohio, a state he was behind in all along, and where voters stood in line in the rain for hours to vote. Do you think they stood in lin in the rain for hours to vote for HIM?
It has been proven repeatedly that these machines can be easily rigged. Yet 4 years has gone by, and here we are again. What has been done? NOTHING. No investigation, not even a government study. People control these electronic voting machines. They are programmed to produce big numbers for whoever they want them to. Are you sure the votes were counted correctly this time, or that they will be in future elections????
Hillary has Michigan without a doubt.
Go Hillary
Obama – Please don't choose Edwards.
Hillary has MI because the other candidates are boycotting...
Now that things are going better in Iraq, the media has turned their attention toward the elections and the "change" candidates. Let's ask ourselves what exact changes need to be made. Change needs to be for the better and the candidates better know how changes are executed!! Remember everyone, we live in a world that is quite dangerous today. All the "change" candidates may presumably know something about balancing a budget, running businesses, or rallying the country, but we need experience in foreign affairs more now than ever!! Republican, Democratic, or Independent, read the candidates' website and any other "true" information you can get your hands on and vote accordingly. Be careful everyone who gets your vote, because it may impact our great nation for a long, long time!!
please be clear who really win the election at new hamshare. Is it the one that
have 9delegates plus 2super delegates = 11delegates=hilary
OR
9delegates plus 3super delegates=12delegates=OBAMA
WELL HILARY WON ?????
Everyone wants to say they called the whole race after a couple of tiny Primaries. Pundits can be so tiresome. Lighten up buttercup!
Re-direct your frustrations with politics by engaging Americas true grass-roots candidates. While the media tries to figure out why their speculation and guess-work doesn't yield results, Arizona is quietly making a bold political statement.
Which candidate cut a hole in the America flag while illegal aliens cross our border in the background?
Which candidate wears an eye-patch like a pirate?
And, did you know there are THREE women in Arizona's Primary ballot?

delegates, delegates, delegates. This is the name of the game. How can one
say that Clinton won if she has the same number of delegates as Obama? Reporters tell us the truth.
we do not need 4 more years of clinton..just remember who the mouth piece is and who does the lip service...now is not the the for hillary...why because of the last name.
hillary has no NO experience in politics, outside of be married to MR MOUTHPIECE hillary will just be repeating things that are told to her and how to assert herself to the group of people she has at hand.
Great Job in Nevada Obama !!!
DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE MEDIA !!!!
Obama Still Leads By 1 !!!
Obama just came in a close second in Nevada which was an incredible accomplishment going up against the 'inevitable'. But everyone must know the facts. The media has such a desire to see Hillary and McCain as the nominees that they are totally misleading the public. The Democratic nominee will be determined by who recieves the most delegate votes....PERIOD !
