EAST LANSING, Michigan (CNN) - Politics always makes for strange bedfellows, but Sunday on the trail brought one of the odder pairings of this campaign season: CNN and FOX.

The press bus following Republican presidential candidate John McCain to a Michigan campaign event sped its way into a broken fan belt.

Reporters on board - who noticed the smell coming from the engine - poured out of the bus when it pulled over, and into the motor home of Harold Voorhees, a Michigan volunteer who’d been trailing the Straight Talk Express and its caravan in case of overflow, or a roadside emergency.

Your CNN team rode the rest of the way to the East Lansing campaign stop in style, perched on a bed with FOX’s Malini Bawa and reporting embeds from ABC and NBC. Motor home and media alike arrived safely.

....reading CNN.COM's "stories" is like reading The Onion. ...except it's not meant to be pointless and funny. How about some real news CNN?

steve wilmington   January 14th, 2008 9:13 pm ET

Please give John McCain's bus some directions south of the border, thats who he supports. McCain needs to go to Mexico for further support of the corporate indigenous workers. Low cost labor John McCain...modern day slave trader.

RC Meischker   January 14th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

If this is currently qualifying as news then CNN's Human Resources department needs to take a long, hard look at their personnel situation. If the company has reporters to spare on producing this kind of dribble, then it may be time to downsize.

As usual, CNN wastes our time with NON-NEWS.
This is a stupid story.....but I agree that it has unintended irony: CNN really is just about as bad as Fox "news" these days. It's sad, because CNN used to have some credibility.

Fred   January 14th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

FAUX NEWS!

Conan Campbell   January 14th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

CNN and Fox together? The seventh seal has been broken. Apocalypse is neigh. Repent now!!!

Mike Allen   January 14th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

The surprise is that FOX is on the McCain bus. Must be their second team. All the conservative media like Fox, Limbaugh, and Beck are trying to shove their hand picked boy, Romney down our throats. I used to watch Fox but I have switched to CNN so that I can see what the other Republican candidates have to say. I am leaning hard towards Huckabee. Thats right Fox, a populist who is not another corporate billionaire neocon,HUCKABEE. Shame on me.

thescoundrel   January 14th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Get a grip people. It is a funny and humorous story. Even Shakespeare used humor to give a pause in the drama.

Rob   January 14th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Typical stupid CNN story. Instead of covering real news, the liberal mainstream media is producing garbage.

I'll bet the Foxnews reporter who was on the bus didn't write a stupid story like this.

Foxnews is the only place to get fair and balanced news.

Steve Blaine Washington   January 14th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

What comes around will suddenly go around for you people.

Lev Klinemann, CA   January 14th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

Comparing FOX NEWS to CNN is like comparing apples to oranges. FOX NEWS does not do journalism, they do opinion, I'm not talking about the pundits, I'm talking about news.

How many time have we seen FOX NEWS put a D under Mark Foley, or Larry Craig. C'mon give me a break, if FOX NEWS claims to be a professional news channel, they sure dont act like it.

I have seen, with my own eyes FOX NEWS interview a detective in Florida about a killer, and in the background all they showed was girls on a beach in the bikinis. I'm sure that was coincidental too.

BS, FOX NEWS is full of crap, playing on the ignorance of the lowest.

Don't get me wrong, CNN in not perfect by any means, but FOX NEWS is just about on par with MTV news, if that.

Lauren Bates   January 14th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

Ron Paul. All the others are not worthy. I'm sorry the media and it's allies have confused the public, but he is our only hope. Why don't you see other signs in the cities? It's because no one is really for these other candidates.

NewPatriot-Arizona   January 14th, 2008 4:40 pm ET

What a waste of article... instead of helping the our nation in showing constructive news its show's how distasteful the media complex really is with the general public.

Angel, Los Angeles of Anaheim   January 14th, 2008 4:10 pm ET

It's interesting that Myron is electing to go to the BBC for his news on the American elections, especially considering that FOX News is on the banned list of the BBC due to one-sided reporting.

Susan   January 14th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

I rather found the news item refreshing, thanks.

Rob   January 14th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

Its really time to look at the most qualified candidate without the media bias that has been put against him recently.

Mitt Romney raised the most money in the beginning (and maybe even still now) and used it to get his name out there, because he really has a desire to help America become a better place for our families.

The press have made him the poster child of "Negative Advertising" and McCain and Huckabee have used that to their advantage, firing personal insults his way every chance they get.

The truth is that Now that McCain is seeing real funds for the first time, he is using them the same exact way that he accuses Mitt Romney of using his funds. Its shameful for McCain, considering the amount of whining and complaining to the press and supporters.

Lets do the right thing, and support someone that can truly run a country, not a man who supports the current system in Washington and embraces it every chance he gets. We need real change from a real republican, and only Mitt Romney can give us that.

MCD, SF, CA   January 14th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

Excuse me Thomas but, do you remember how our involvement in Vietnam started? A U.S. vessel was fired upon??? Remember, years later we learned that it was a setup by our own government??? Hello, does that sound familiar?

As to Iran supplying arms to Iraqis... EVERYBODY is supplying arms to them.... including Pakistan and George's Very Good Friends in Saudi Arabia. Bush is looking for a fight.... a fight he won't PERSONALLY have to have anything to do with.

Jaik , chicago, IL   January 14th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

CNN has become more and more like FOX as the campaign goes on, injecting opinion and politics into stories, often trying to make news out of nonstories.

Phil in San Jose, CA   January 14th, 2008 2:45 pm ET

first, to all of those who post "and this is news?" comments on the ticker, give it up already. you guys have been writing that for virtually every story on here and it's getting tired. do you honestly think that the editor is going to say "joe schmoe doesn't think this is newsworthy so maybe we should change our entire philosophy"? of course not. so please, stop your whining or go elsewhere. second, to all those who feel it's necessary to post about ron paul in every post, give it up. he's only gotten 3% of the delegates and he's only ahead of hunter (a write-in candidate from new hampshire) and giuliani (who didn't even run in either of the first two states). and don't blame the "liberal" media for it. his debates have been atrocious and he's making himself look like a less sane ross perot.

Bob - Michigan   January 14th, 2008 2:43 pm ET

Mitt Romney has the least chance of swinging independent voters and winning the General Election. I am a Gulianni supporter and my wife is a Huckabee supporter, but we are both voting for John McCain in the Michigan primary to help get Romney out of the race.

I know that voting for Gulianni or Huckabee are wasted votes in Michigan, so MY WIFE AND I ARE VOTING FOR JOHN MCCAIN IN MICHIGAN TO MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE!

Guliainni will make his stand in Florida against McCain, but hopefully without Romney's negative ads financed with Romney's personal $$$. George Bush stole the 2000 election with negative ads and look at the mess our country is in now because of him. We don't need another rich guy buying the election with negative ads! We don't need negative Romney ads in this campaign anymore. STOP ROMNEY!

Attacked by the Establishment   January 14th, 2008 2:39 pm ET

As a Paul supporter I guess I do not have to say how I feel about the media. The only one I know of lately that has tried to help America and Americans is the guy on Dateline catching predators. The rest seem to be a bunch of left wing dirt bags who tried selling cars or insurance and could not make it!

JLaugh   January 14th, 2008 2:32 pm ET

this was the worst story in the history of news.

Jake   January 14th, 2008 2:28 pm ET

Geez, people, lighten up. Yes this story is fluff, but it probably took about 30 seconds of your day to read. Guaranteed you took more time to complain about the story than you had to take to read it. So it isn't important. So what? It's a quirky little story from the campaign trail

Renaisauce   January 14th, 2008 2:26 pm ET

Seriously, this has been up all day. Is this the biggest campaign news that the Ticker can come up with during a crucial campaign stop?

David   January 14th, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Was this story worth putting on your Web site? WHO CARES!!

Nick   January 14th, 2008 2:21 pm ET

Who cares?

Gary, Los Angeles, CA   January 14th, 2008 2:19 pm ET

Wow, you can't be serious. How is this newsworthy? At least don't link to this pointless piece of "news" from your homepage. Come on CNN, you can do better.

Sunday’s Debates: January 14, 2008

Sen. H. R. Clinton called for resolve and the employment possibilities that would be forthcoming. The same thing Pres. Bush said in his State of the Union Address. Yet, these jobs were nor for the unemployed citizens/Middle Class America. It advanced non-citizens/unqualified into advances levels, without the process of “Stringent Guidelines”, which disqualify/ignored the unemployed/Middle Class Citizens because their skills are viewed as not having “current experiences” and not having the undisclosed guidelines to be employed at entry levels or any open job positions; a process to eliminate Middle Class Citizens.

This is a pre-mediated habit forming and pattern to unburden the responsibilities and to have the excuse that the system is designed to be such. But, these are the same Political Officials who designed the system to have these habits forming problems; they change from Democrats to Republicans every four years. Not that they change to correct this habit. This is why there are the excuse that Americans are refusing these type of jobs and that Americans/Citizens should take any job to survive.

This pattern repeated itself many times over so to push the unemployed, undocumented Citizens, poor person into Old Age, Hospitalization, and to have them medicated to be qualify for Welfare, Medicare and Social Security Disabilities. A process viewed as a solution which has been used for years in all of the Presidential Administrations. This need to be corrected not change from a man to a woman, a white to a minority, a Republican to a Democrat, a citizen to a non-citizen….etc.

Sen. Clinton’s remark as to a woman is not an illegal is a very delusional thing to say. She had not been living in reality, now who is running a “fairy tale” campaign???

Sen. Clinton is bullying her way to the top or paving the road for her daughter’s future. She went on Meet the Press with Mr. Tim Russet to let the people know that there is money for non-citizens, illegal aliens, immigration issues but citizens of American MUST WAIT FOR THE WAR TO END IN IRAQ to have relief from the pain, suffering, hardship, abuse, unemployment, homelessness…etc. Seriously, this kind of non-sense is what is insulting Citizens of this Country and having non-citizens, aliens, immigrants…etc. piss/curse/disrespect…(lack of a better word) upon the US Citizens. Shouldn’t all the money go to Citizens instead; poor or otherwise???

How many new jobs were created??? How many unemployed was hired???? How many qualify unemployed was employed at min. wage, entry level…etc???? How many non-citizens got raises instead????? Why run a campaign for change and not run a campaign for CORRECTING THE ISSUES??????

I would not be surprised if Financial Institutions (BANKS, Lenders…employers…etc) are the one to have the control. By pitting the issues with the CANDITIATE they feel will best fit their needs… Which financial institution is for what candidate???? Bank of America is probably the most vicious and damaging to the Middle Class Citizens from since they were FLEET….Ms. C. Jugmohan

Ivan, Chicago, Illinois   January 14th, 2008 2:16 pm ET

At best your headline deceiving.

joe paradis   January 14th, 2008 2:14 pm ET

Is it so strange that people are linking CNN with FOX News? CNN is much worse. Look at the "Breaking News" of an hour ago where crowds were gathering for a Britany Spears something or other. Then look at the "Latest News" listings on the right side of CNN's home page for the latest in National Inquirer freak show articles. Then listen to Lou Dobbs rant and pontificate and excoriate as if he owned the world. CNN has the Rush Limbaugh disease. The Most Trusted Name In News. Please. You cannot even come up to Fox News standards. Dear ol' Ted Turner is right to be disgusted with his creation.

MRD   January 14th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

I was left wondering if the CNN team is trying to bolster their credibility by announcing this "association" with a FoxNews reporter. That was until I went over to Fox and saw the headline about Anna Nicole's infant daughter having an eye condition that is making her cross-eyed. Perhaps I need to go to the BBC or Al Jazeera for news.....

Susan Texas   January 14th, 2008 2:08 pm ET

CNN is also playing favorites on the Democrat side. They keep swooning over Obama.

Eric   January 14th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

Frank, Waverly, NY   January 14th, 2008 1:57 pm ET

Why did I read this?

Jon Paul   January 14th, 2008 1:48 pm ET

This is not news....

Plus, the Mainstream Media has been in bed together for years, promoting their special interest, skewed agenda.

Justin Sondgeroth   January 14th, 2008 1:46 pm ET

What a waste of time and money for CNN.com and its readers. Did you seriously put this online for people to read? I am losing faith in you CNN...get your act together!

carol in FL   January 14th, 2008 1:43 pm ET

Nice of cnn to give space to amateur news reporters – what is this, some kind of intern's project? Please stick to reporting actual news.

For those who appreciated a little chuckle from this article, check out The Onion or Jon Stewart, news sources much more suited to your personality.

I'd rather see a little more space dedicated to Ron Paul's political history, background and campaign status. I'm looking for a credible source to give me the real facts about this candidate so I can make up my mind who to support but I guess I should stop looking to CNN for that.

Ito, Yokosuka Japan   January 14th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

Have we ever seen the Clinton's feeling more threatened and nervous. This is what they do, folks. This is the Clinton attack machine. If Obama can survive this, the Republican attack machine will be a cakewalk.

Clinton's = no substance. It's the reason they put all their energy into these distractions. So look hard, people. This is what you will get if you nominate HRC to be your candidate.

Just the though of HRC running for president at the Dem favorite gives me the shudders. any chance for my vote falling to a Dem lies with Obama and Edwards. Sorry, HRC doesn't make the cut. My vote will go to a Republican, or an independent. It will never, ever go to HRC. She is the mother of nasty.

will   January 14th, 2008 1:38 pm ET

Fox and CNN should be in bed together as they both report the same nonsence from the same point of view...gone are the days when cnn was respected around the world as an outlet of true media journalism....now they are just another corporate entity designed to entertain rather than inform and educate..they never report on the REST of the world news but will spend hours each day on Britney and Paris and the like...more of the "dumbing" of america...

Dee, Canada   January 14th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

CNN and Fox in bed together? Let's hope they don't mate...

Garen Vaheesh   January 14th, 2008 1:16 pm ET

Matt; Columbia, SC   January 14th, 2008 12:49 pm ET

Wow...I don't even know if Fox News would be dumb enough to print this "story"; let alone put it on the front page. Congratulations CNN, you've hit a new low.

Jon Lawson   January 14th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

How is this possibly news??? Get over your inflated egos and actually report the news, don't try to make – or make it up!

Chuck. California   January 14th, 2008 12:41 pm ET

So you're telling us there's some huge difference between CNN and FOX? That's a laugh. Seriously, CNN, you've become virtually indistinguishable in recent years. Sad, very sad, but true.

John Ashley   January 14th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

This seems to be a pattern for you guys & gals at CNN. These stories have titles where you try to show some kind of bipartisan against a particular candidate for your own gain. Your tricky titles lure people in to some kind of insignificant story that in some way could give a person who does not actually read the story a false sense of information. Now of all things you try to bring FOX into your trash stories. This is poor news reporting.

Ray Neubauer   January 14th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

What an important story! Why not tell us the order to using the bathroom too? The media really has nothing better to report on?

Johnny Five   January 14th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

For me, this is TRULY poetic justice….. that CNN’s “the name you can TRUST in politics” got to BED (on McCain’s bus) with Fox’s News “fair & balanced” reporters/reporting!

Why? Both of these cable news companies are so busy competing with one another that they have forgotten what the public holds them responsible for………. Reporting the news and fact checking the statements made to verify what is factual and what is distortion BEFORE broadcasting it to the public.

During the New Hampshire primary, CNN only showed their reporter covering the Obama campaign, repudiate Bill Clinton’s remarks (the distortion) once and yet CNN played and replayed the clip showing Bill Clinton’s “Fairy Tale” remarks without the editorial from their own reporter or Wolf Blitzer. So, anyone who tuned in to the “name you can trust” got Bill Clinton’s version of events without much responsible commentary. And, CNN wants us to think that only Fox News is not “fair or balanced”?????

This is simply a case of the “same bad penny” different sides of the same irresponsible reporting coin being put on one bus. Poetic Justice!

Ryan   January 14th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

2nd attempt...I'm at the point of not able to distinguish between FOX and CNN too. Like Fox, you're focusing on attempting to trash the Clintons. Where is the old unbiased CNN? Please focus on real issues. I miss those days.

John Evans   January 14th, 2008 12:07 pm ET

I don't get it. Seriously. Both CNN and FOX are right-leaning news agencies. OK, maybe FOX is more right-leaning, but what is so strange about anything in this story?

Cheri   January 14th, 2008 11:14 am ET

What a misleading offensive title. It slanders McCain over something unrelated to him. Anything for a buck. The article could have been cute and fun – if it wasn't for the title.

Myron   January 14th, 2008 11:07 am ET

Well this story clinches it, no longer will I submit myself to reading CNN.com for "news". The president is run amok, over 150,000 Iraqis have been killed, our Congress is trying to insulate phone companies that allowed wiretaps, AND THIS IS ON THE FRONT PAGE?

It is a sad day for our society when Americans that want true news about their country must turn to outlets like the BBC. How far has American journalism fallen? Perhaps journalism is inversely proportional to ratings and sponsors.

So long CNN, someone tell Anderson Cooper to jump ship before the water is waist deep.

Schnarfe   January 14th, 2008 11:05 am ET

Today on CNN Election Center 2008: McCain mccain mccain went here and McCained an entire audience of Independents in support of McCain. McCain McCain McCain. Has all of America caught on to McCain fever? Oh the humanity! Oh the MCCANITY! More news: McCain stopped at a local drive thru fast food restaurant for a breakfast sandwich and a coffee. Hillary... Oprah endorses Obama! McCain McCain McCain. With a huge upset by Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. Romney is not as popular, and may have the lowest approval rating. Back to McCain. We love McCain. He is a maverick, a moderate, appeals to centrists and independents as well as conservative Republicans. All hail McCain!

Seriously CNN, there are other candidates in the race for president. I know that always writing about Obama and Clinton gets boring, but what makes you think hyping ONE GOP candidate is any more interesting than hyping the two or three Democrats. There are five other serious contenders for the GOP nomination: Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, Thompson, and Paul. Just because four of the aforementioned are unelectable does not mean the fifth is.

I never thought I said this, but I am starting to think that FOX might be a more professional news outlet. I mean if you are going to hype any one candidate, please do not make it so transparent. At least you seem on the fence about Clinton and Obama. It is clear who the McCaiN Network nominates for the Republican candidacy.

Joe   January 14th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Because God forbid you be associated with FOX in any way...

Thomas, St. Petersburg, FL   January 14th, 2008 10:59 am ET

MCD in San Francisco:

Thank you for the newsflash that Georgie is at it again, starting trouble with that peaceful, tolerant nation of Iran.

After all, the following events NEVER occurred:

- Iranian students storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, Iran, holding 53 Americans hostage for 444 days;

- Iranian President has said that Israel should be "wiped off the map";

- Iran's nuclear program "for energy purposes";

-Iran's denunciation of the Annapolis, MD peace efforts with Middle Eastern representatives last year;

-Recent Iranian speedboats threatening U.S. warships in international waters last week;

-The Iranian President's claim that gays do not exist in Iran during his Columbia University speech a few months ago (and he's right, since Iran routinely HANGS such individuals).

I can continue, but you get the picture. I'm glad to see that you are giving Iran the benefit of the doubt instead of your own President.

Tom W. Barnett   January 14th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Your article was supposed to be about FOX being in league with CNN, yet that issue wasn't mentioned.

Eric   January 14th, 2008 10:52 am ET

Were the two reporters of the same gender? If so, that's not good.

Edwin   January 14th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Sigh, with all that's going on in the world, HOW could this be on CNN's front page as a legitimate news story? That was 2 mins of my life that I wasted and will never get back. What a joke.

Bob   January 14th, 2008 10:47 am ET

Stop reporting on your own station, it is not news and you are wasting valuable web space which can be used for articles that are important, instead of this gossip. Either it is a slow news day or you are unintelligent enough to decide what is important information the public needs to make educated decisions.

Larry, Columbus, Ohio   January 14th, 2008 10:43 am ET

I agree with a few of the comments above; while this is not "news" per se., there's enough bad news floating around that some levity and a bit of "laughing at ourselves" feels pretty good.

While I know that this enrages those of you who believe this space could have been used for more Bush-bashing...get over it. Read comments on why the war isn't being talked about so much by candidates right now...from the Democrats side the reason is that things are going much better than they were before, so they don't have anything to talk about. Republicans are fine with it being off the stage as well.

Last but not least, I had to laugh at the idiocy and/or paranoia necessary to believe that the Iran boat confrontation was anything but that...if you seriously believe it was Pentagon-created propoganda I think you need to put away your Oliver Stone film collection for a bit and come back to reality. Or do you SERIOUSLY trust the Iranian government more than our own???

Dave in Houston   January 14th, 2008 10:41 am ET

You mean that CNN hasn't been in bed with FOX since Ted Turner left?

Any network that employs Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh's girlfriend (yuk) has obviously transformed itself into a far right-wing propaganda machine.

Think that can't happen? Rupert Murdoch was practically a communist in college, and Ronald Reagan was once the president of a union.

Ryan Theriot   January 14th, 2008 10:31 am ET

Please vote for Ron Paul so that we do not have to get micro chip implants and become slaves to a one world government. Thanks.

To those suggesting that this isn't news-worthy:

This isn't a real article. It's just a quick entry on a blog that is updated dozens of times a day. If you only want to read full-length, in-depth articles, please go read the Financial Times or the International Herald Tribune or the Economist.

Of course, if you're the kind of person who makes the kind of comments I'm referring to, you probably wouldn't understand the articles in the publications I mentioned. Sorry.

ammeh   January 14th, 2008 10:24 am ET

That's it, I am now done with CNN's "News" coverage.

I should sue for damages for the 30 seconds it took to read that "article". I'd like that portion of my life back, please. That time would've been better-used staring at a blank wall.

Chris, Middletown, CT   January 14th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Everyone knows that all news is biased....Fox is right leaning...but they acknowledge this....and try to bring in the Alan Colmes of the world (and others) – CNN has yet to acknowledge the fact that they are cheerleading for Clinton – I believe that Wolf is looking for a press secretary position to reward him for his softball questions to HRC during the debate....

Watch your local newspapers....if they don't like the candidate....the articles may not be slanted....but they choose a photo that makes the person look less than qualified to get you fries at the local fast food chain....I want the news....and I want someone to denounce socialism (yes Hillary most of your 800 billion in entitlement spending comes right from the teachings of Saul Alinsky....the subject of your glowing thesis paper (which was hidden by your college while you were first lady) – Saul Alinsky was a Marxist...and all for big government taking over....how can capitalists suddenly embrace socialist doctrine?? (well...the Democrats anyway) – its higher taxes for sub par benefits..(nobody can argue with that)

This is really front page news? You are supposed to report on the news, not try to be the news.

jw, Roy, Utah   January 14th, 2008 10:13 am ET

What a non-story.

jake   January 14th, 2008 10:10 am ET

CNN = Clinton News Network

carol   January 14th, 2008 10:06 am ET

Where is the news on Ron Paul??? He had more phone in calls than the other candidates from the S.C. Debates and no news coverage. He had a higher percentage than Thompson in New Hampshire and the news channels do not seem to care about that. I WANT MY RON PAUL!!!

Mark G., BBH, ME   January 14th, 2008 10:06 am ET

Broken down, just like American Democracy.

Aaron   January 14th, 2008 10:04 am ET

I know Mr. Voorhees, great guy. Ithink this story is hilarious – just wish he wasn't following behind McCain.

Erin   January 14th, 2008 10:03 am ET

I thought this was pretty funny, but I'm not sure it belongs on the front page of CNN.com. Surely there's real news somewhere that needs to be reported.

Mark Trueman   January 14th, 2008 10:03 am ET

Lighten up, Brett. Now this was humorous. I'll bet there were alot of hits on this sexy story!

Chris   January 14th, 2008 9:59 am ET

I think you missed the bigger metaphor, CNN. Your flashy graphics, sensationalist stories, and garbage like Glenn Beck and Nancy Grace really DO put you in bed with FOX news. It's not often that a major news network manages to zing itself.

LM   January 14th, 2008 9:57 am ET

Um, this is a dumb and pointless article. I never post comments, but for this I just had to. I thought you were going to actually discuss something serious about McCain and his comments on the media, or bias in the media, or something substantial. Guess cnn is losing it's intellectual muster!

therealist   January 14th, 2008 9:55 am ET

Obviously FOX's higher standard of reporting the news instead of trying to make the news do not rub off..

Little Old Lady   January 14th, 2008 9:55 am ET

Strange bedfellows, indeed! Id like to know what's so strange about it? Strange or otherwise, I think it's a super idea for an odd couple like CNN and FOX to do some pillow talking with each other. Who knows what could come out of such a pairing? Just the thought of it makes me sip my warm milk with satisfaction as I fall asleep.

Oldster   January 14th, 2008 9:48 am ET

It's a JOKE people, lighten up!! Good grief, I've about had it with the politicing already anyway!! Smell the roses once in a while........

Kurt Matheson   January 14th, 2008 9:48 am ET

I thought this article was going to be about how CNN is getting as bad as Fox for selectively reporting and pushing their own opinions. The misleading headline alone shows that CNN is getting more and more like Fox.

Laura   January 14th, 2008 9:46 am ET

Who Cares????

John   January 14th, 2008 9:45 am ET

Pointless, but enjoy reading the funny behind the scenes stuff. No reason to attack an article becuase its not relavent, its similar to complaining about news about less-then-relavent candidates because they are not important to the big picture. Let CNN write what they want, at the end of the day they still cover the stories.

Jim, Columbus, OH   January 14th, 2008 9:43 am ET

Is this about birds of a feather, in bed together? Could you, or anybody else, PLEASE, do some serious reporting comparing the candidates' policy proposals. All we ever seem to hear is chit-chat about rumors, polls, candidate attacks on each other, and who is supporting whom.

Peter   January 14th, 2008 9:40 am ET

What a stupid little story. Please spare us.

PS, KC, MO   January 14th, 2008 9:39 am ET

Gee, if Fox and CNN can get along in close quarters, maybe there's hope for peace in the Mideast.....
I did enjoy the story, though. Nice to see a little levity from time to time. Those who don't appreciate it should go out and buy themselves a sense of humor.

dr. gonzo   January 14th, 2008 9:38 am ET

I guess I am the only one who chuckled a little bit then.

aron   January 14th, 2008 9:35 am ET

This is not news.

Jose   January 14th, 2008 9:33 am ET

Pitiful reporting. Pitiful article. Do you have Kindergarten Children doing news reporting and writing for you now?

Dave C - NJ   January 14th, 2008 9:29 am ET

What a bunch of crybabies.
It's a TICKER, not headline news. Stop whining.

And Mike, Bush is pathetic. No one needs an excuse to point that out.

Mike   January 14th, 2008 9:24 am ET

I love how Bush hating idiots can turn any subject into an excuse to make stupid attacks on him.

What are the Bush-hating losers going to do with all of their mindless hate when he is gone?

André   January 14th, 2008 9:23 am ET

FOX NEWS-FAIR AND BALANCED!

Anonymous   January 14th, 2008 9:21 am ET

oh my god....this is about the most ridiculous story I have heard since we tried to write newspaper articles in grade 2. shame on the writers...anyway that way you will never get the high ratings that FOX NEWS has.

Curt   January 14th, 2008 9:20 am ET

Ugh, give me my 30 seconds back. Don't Shirley and Rebecca realize their own lack of significance? The only thing "positive" about this article is that its followed by a comment section.
I'm sure there is a Junior High Newspaper in need of two crack reporters. Maybe S&R should go back to school.

Dax   January 14th, 2008 9:16 am ET

This article is pointless and very badly written.

Matt, Awendaw SC   January 14th, 2008 9:06 am ET

The only thing I have noticed is pretty much all the cadidates besides Ron Paul have no clue on how to fix anything. They all talk but have nothing to give the American people.

Bush is a joke and I am sorry to say I voted for him. He has proven his ineptness at pretty much everything and is driving this country right off a cliff.

I pity the people who are following other candidates for "change." There will be no change. Only the same old rhetoric and BS policies implemented that will only drive us further into debt and not fix a single thing.

It is getting to the point where I am contemplating on what my future plans are. I am 25 and scared to even think about starting a family. I don't want my children to be slaves to the US government to repay their debt to other investors (i.e. China, et al.)

Good luck to America. She needs it.

Shane Cahill   January 14th, 2008 9:03 am ET

Why has this been moved to the top of the blog? Is it really that quiet the day before a big Republican primary?

Ed,Ellenville,New York   January 14th, 2008 8:59 am ET

Yeah, an exposure of the phony audio message on that "confrontation" video should be breaking headline news. How about getting campaign comments on that piece of fabrication by the pentagon? Why is the pentagon trying to raise fears to boost oil prices? Isn't the pentagon the biggest consumer of fuel on the taxpayer's dime? Shouldn't they be cost conscious with their propaganda? I bet Fred Thompson would be fried on that one.

Jack   January 14th, 2008 8:59 am ET

I've got to say, I like this story! What's not to like about some humor on the campaign trail? I love the hard-hitting serious news, but we need some fun too!

Cliff, Newport, NH   January 14th, 2008 8:58 am ET

The headline at the very least is misleading. The content of the "story" doesn't even merit comment.

malitzin   January 14th, 2008 8:58 am ET

somebody else would have been grateful for their help. But instead your report makes it seem disgusting -you're disgusting and ungrateful

Dave   January 14th, 2008 8:57 am ET

How stupid is this story? Is it me? Am I the idiot for reading it, or is it the author, editor and publisher?

GG   January 14th, 2008 8:56 am ET

I hope you guys don't catch the "fair & balanced" bug. Stay away from the dumb foxnews

Jason   January 14th, 2008 8:55 am ET

What about John McCain's diagnosis of Malignant Melanoma? I haven't heard anything about it for years. When a 71 year-old is diagnosed with a life threatening form a skin cancer three times, it seems that it deserves mention in a presidential campaign. What is the status of those three melanomas? How invasive were they, and what stage of melanoma did he have?

Rick   January 14th, 2008 8:54 am ET

I *so* don't get the point of this. Is this a story? Is it supposed to be cute? I'm totally lost.....

lorenzo   January 14th, 2008 8:54 am ET

Obama is black! That is an advantage for him. If another candidate ctriticizes him they are labeled as racist. It is very obvious that his campaign is trying very hard to use that to his advantage. White America is supposed to be free of prejudice but that apparently does not apply to black America. Let us ALL keep that in mind when we go to the polls.

Joe   January 14th, 2008 8:53 am ET

He's in the middle east on peace talks, moron.

Did he drive the speedboats and say "you will explode in a couple of minutes"?

Get a life, or just renew your KERRYEDWARDS2004 bumper stickers.

William   January 14th, 2008 8:51 am ET

Are you kidding me with this? Is this local news, or CNN? Don't you remember that there's a war going on?

JuleS, Chicago   January 14th, 2008 8:48 am ET

I disagree with you, Brett. It's a refreshing break from the "reports on the issues" and I welcome it. Lighten up already!

Tobias Whately   January 14th, 2008 8:47 am ET

Yes, I've noticed that Bush is trying to start a war with Iran. And who'd continue that war if elected? Grandpa McCain would, for certain. He's a warhawk of epic proportions.

Marco   January 14th, 2008 8:46 am ET

Wow!! A senior clinton campaign advisor gets arrested and this makes news!! Way to go CNN!!

John   January 14th, 2008 8:44 am ET

Everyone already knows FOX is in bed with CNN. You can't really tell the difference anymore except for which candidates the channels are obviously endorsing. Oh, and both channels are definitely united in ignoring the same issues...with enough spin to either direction.

A2   January 14th, 2008 8:40 am ET

Wow, is this a quasi-admission of CNN's liberal bias?

Amy, Kazoo   January 14th, 2008 8:40 am ET

wow. thank goodness you let us know this. now I can get on with my day. whew!

get it together, CNN. your news reports and stories are becoming biased, pointless, and a waste of time.

Ian   January 14th, 2008 8:37 am ET

I agree with Brett, the headline was very misleading. Very disappointing CNN, you really are getting as bad as FOX..

Curtis, Houston, TX   January 14th, 2008 8:36 am ET

I found this story funny and thought it was a nice break from all of the polls and statistics.

Al in Wpg   January 14th, 2008 8:32 am ET

MCD, you're absolutely right, stop using the elections as a cover-up for what's being done by the government you have in power. One year gives him alot of time to cause a lot more trouble. Checks and balances? Apparently not.

andy   January 14th, 2008 7:16 am ET

What is Bush doing to 'start a war' with Iran? Or, as I suspect, do u WANT to start a war with Iran so that you can say, I told you so? So let Iran create nuclear weapons, no problem. After all, their leader is sane, right?

Alice Newman Center Harbor NH   January 14th, 2008 7:07 am ET

With all the endless blathering and posturing – this made me smile ... maybe there is hope for our country after all.

There is a time to be serious and a time for a little levity ... so sad when people can't see the difference.

E. Elliott, Orlando, FL   January 14th, 2008 6:43 am ET

Maybe they could have used the chance to ask Mr. Warrior what he intends to do with the 20,000 terrorists in prison camps in Iraq when he becomes President. Does he intend to let them go or what?

mark wilkes barre pa   January 14th, 2008 6:22 am ET

Dont worry MCD,, it will happen soon enough,, theres just not enough to the Iran story to pick at yet,, the media , congress, and anti war advocates are just a little gun shy these days ( pardon my use of gun shy ) to rush out and stick there foot in there mouth again

Luis Miranda   January 14th, 2008 4:04 am ET

Are you joking? This has nothing to do with anything. The fact that this is being posted baffles me.

George   January 14th, 2008 3:10 am ET

It should be obvious that if they distract you with this kind of stuff you might not notice that John Edwards isn not getting much play from corporate media giants like CNN. I wonder what it is they dont want you to hear?

MCD, San Francisco, CA   January 14th, 2008 1:40 am ET

Has anybody noticed that while everybody is focusing on the campaigns... Bush is doing everything in his power to start a war with Iran???

Perhaps the meida should be doing less reporting on this early, early campaigning and spending more time reporting on what could be the next Bush disaster!!

Austin   January 14th, 2008 12:14 am ET

In other news, McCain must have arrived a whole 10-15 minutes ahead of the press corps....

Sheesh. Blogging is great, but let's get real. This is a great example of the minutia we are being subjected to.

I won't be surprised to see a ticker reading: "Candidate X put his (or her) pants on both legs at the same time," according to aides.

Paul, Tampa   January 13th, 2008 11:19 pm ET

I heard somewhere that it was Hillary Clinton's people who sabotaged the press bus. Is there no limit to how low this woman will go to get elected.

I figured it was coming. just thought I'd beat the haters to the punch.

dodacrazy   January 13th, 2008 11:08 pm ET

Sorry but now I will retreat again for Mc Cain life and career great family long line of leadership and I forseen him as the President many years ago .One day I'll explain but now is not the time wishing you my best...Remember one table spoon of love after each meal!

Bryan   January 13th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Maybe John McCain really can bring both sides of the debate together...

Dale Davis, Glendora, California   January 13th, 2008 9:39 pm ET

And let's further add that the old Republican Merit System and the Democratic Party Cronies are both in bed with John Mc Cain. AND ONCE AGAIN IT IS GOING TO BE BUSINESS AS USUAL NEXT YEAR.
DEMICANS AND REPUBLICRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rudeboy   January 13th, 2008 9:17 pm ET

It doesn't matter who the millionaire(Bob Johnson) wants to support/endorse...he should know better than to put down an aspiring blackman(Barack) with good intention. I can imagine MLK turning over in his grave with disgust!

Duncan, Richmond, VA   January 13th, 2008 8:43 pm ET

Funny really, because CNN's reporting recently has been on pair with Fox. Anyone would think that someone called Ron Paul was not actually running for President if they only listened to CNN.

John S. Maine   January 13th, 2008 8:33 pm ET

Straight Talk Detour!

jw, canadian,ok   January 13th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

The 'Fox Republican Network'? Get real, Mc

Troofer   January 13th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

liberals smell bad

John   January 13th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

...and this is newsworthy because...?

Steve   January 13th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

CNN & FOX strange bedfellows......NOT? Both sensationalist media outfits.

A. Voter   January 13th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

Shirley you can't think anybody cares who rides on what media bus?

Tank about Sirley being out of touch with regular people!

Adam Smith   January 13th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

John Mc Cain supports free trade and globilization and amnesty for illegal aliens just like Hillary Clinton. America dosnt need either one of them ruining our country like its being ruined now. Change is something they have no clue about . They are corporate puppits and that is all they are period.

Brett Albers   January 13th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

What does this have to do with anything? Come on, report on the issues, not this pointless "story".
