(CNN) — Michigan Republican primary voters aren't just divided on which presidential candidate to support — they're split on their opinion of the current president’s administration as well.

According to new exit polling, 52 percent feel good about the job the Bush White House is doing, while 48 percent say they aren't happy with it.

Michigan's sluggish economy may be a major reason nearly half of the state's Republican voters aren't pleased, with more than two-thirds saying they thought economic conditions were poor.

Primary voters are more enthusiastic about the war in Iraq, however — 60 percent said they currently approve of the conflict.

richard west palm beach FL,,,,What happened ? I all but thought you were hired by the dem party to leave nasty bush comments and then BAM ! a real "legitamate " point of view. As a republican I can say it has been a while since I've heard some one aproach the falling Bush approval numbers in a rational un provacative way. way to go kid,,,,,,,, next time leave out the clinton plug when you decide to speak honestly it takes away from the point and will turn off the REP reader,,,,,, Your second paragraph was compeling and straight forward,,,, Ive often wondered what direction WE ( notice how I say we instead of Bush) would have gone in our stand against terror after 9-11, If Bush had not surrounded him self with the dinosaurs of political thinking, of cheney and rumsfeld, and took the advice of the one person he had that was straight talking to him from the start , Condi Rice,,, I feel like you do if he had waited a little longer showed a struggle in afganistan to find Bin laden and used that to garner honest and willing support from our allies,, WE could have crossed any Border to get him or go after any terrorist leader we felt was supporting terror and the world would have been united in our efforts. as far as the economy goes the high cost of miliary actions and reccessions go hand in hand all through history Is one of the prices WE pay when WE agreed with president Bush after 9-11 and congress agreed with Bush after 9-11 ,,, When we start a war ,WE have to see it through ,, We can not cut and run,, WE tried that a few times before ( gulf war and viet nam ) and we should have learned that politics should not dictate how wars are conducted But WE have not and sadly , most likely will not.

Funny, but I don't remember Serbia attacking us… or anybody else for that matter.

mark wilkes barre pa   January 16th, 2008 6:37 am ET

John accept for your a couple of things you listed that have to do with the war directly and the economy due to the high cost of milatary actions,, One could attach this list to any sitting president at certain points in there 2 term legacy and also flip flop the list to that same presidents legacy at certain points over two terms in office,,,,,same goes for michegan native,, and to add to your comment native,,, the problems in your state are unique to your states industry problems,,,,,,,,,TEACHER,, come on,, if you really are a teacher,, then teach the folks here that WE are trying to elect a president that will lead us . How is it helpful to re-hash with endless lists, talking points, and rhederic of yesterdays events. The way to real change is to do our best to elect a real leader,, to be observant, pay attention , remember what the candidates say this week and hold them to it next week, cheap shots dont help candidates, use hillary and obama's tit for tat as your example, this issue between them could have spun out of control easily, and left all your dem/lib candidates looking un electable.

"Post 9-11 stewardship, highest rate president ever! Look it up!!"
——————————————————

It's amazing that any Bush-supporter would mention that. Bush's incompetence has resulted in the largest DROP in approval ratings in history. He went from the highest approval rating to being within one percent of the HIGHEST DISAPPROVAL rating in history. Clinton FINISHED with the highest final APPROVAL rating ever.

Bush probably had the greatest opportunity ever to unite most of the world to fight terrorism when he had the sympathy and cooperation of most of the free world after 9/11. Instead, he has alienated many of our friends in the world. Support for Bush apparently cost the jobs of the heads of state in two of our main allies - -Great Britain and Australia. Bush can't visit any of our closest allies without unprecedented protests. He has completely bungled his opportunity to unite the peace-loving world against terrorism. His failures are resulting in more and more nations dropping out or cutting back on their support in Iraq.

Bush's economic policy has resulted in increasing national debt by 50%. No wonder recent polls show that almost all Democrats think Bush has done a bad job and almost half of the Republicans agree.

Apologies, of course, if someone took offense, but I would not change one word.

I am an army veteran who served in iraq as an infantryman. let me just say we are wasting our time, money, and lives over there. nothing good has come of the invasion of iraq. most reublicans are blind to the truth. are we safer??? no way

-bin laden is hanging out in pakistan and coward bush wont go get him.

Snap Falkenberg   January 15th, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Doesn't matter who ultimately wins the GOP primary.

2000 was a referendum on Clinton's morality. Even so, Clinton was very popular when he exited office, and Bush was a weak, barely articulate candidate. Thanks to the right-wing noise machine, the conservative-dominated media, and a long string of bad choices by Gore's campaign, Bush came close enough to steal it.

2008 will be a referendum on Bush's handling of the economy and Iraq. Top Dem candidates are all very strong campaigners who can string together coherent sentences, and the foundations of progressive media infrastructure.

John   January 15th, 2008 9:02 pm ET

Do these Republican supporters have their heads in the sand.
The Bush administration have given them the following
1) Free falling house prices
2)Record unemployment
3) Free falling dollar
4)Record foreclosures on Mortgages
5) An economy in free fall resession is here
6) Record healthcare costs
7) 40 million in poverty
8) Miserable levels of health care for our Iraq/afghan vets
9) 80 million without health insurance
10) high gas prices but record tax breaks and profits for the oil companies
12) The patriot act
13) Illegal wire taps
14) Torture sites at gitmo and secret sites around Europe
15 ) Three unwinable wars.
18) Out of control security services CIA, FBI, NSA,
19) Open insecure borders except if you are a US citizen then we have to suffer intrusive invasions of our privacy.
20 ) Record numbers of illegal immigrants 22 million and counting
their heads must be in the sand the only other conclusion is they are stupid just like their leader.

If the Nevada Supreme Court made the ruling- wouldn't denying Kucinich's plea to be in the debate be lawful?

chevyk   January 15th, 2008 8:40 pm ET

Of course the republicans support him. But I guess Bush is trying to end his run with positive notes.

''   January 15th, 2008 8:32 pm ET

Let the Democrats run against Bush.

WAKE UP, HE IS NOT ON THE TICKET!!

Craig, Greencastle, PA   January 15th, 2008 8:28 pm ET

Where is CNN when Kucinich is unlawfully denied his right to debate by Nevada's Supreme Court?
