(CNN) - The GOP race is up for grabs heading into the first southern primary this Saturday. CNN's Dana Bash reports the result in South Carolina could narrow the field, or only make it more muddled.

Actually Ron Paul supporters have a clue. Ron Paul has raised more money in the 4th quarter 2007 then any other GOP candidate, won the most straw polls and has more votes in the primaries then Guiliani and Thompson. Did you ever think with the defeatist thinking like "he can't win" you stop any chance of him winning? If we had a nation of S.B. Steins during the British occupation we wouldn't even have a country right now because he would have said "Oh we can't win". Why fight the Axis in WW2? We can't win!!! Ugh... Ron Paul supporters have voted, but as you can see in this posting we have to fight to get attention for our candidate when it is freely given to others. So you can continue voting for the lesser or two evils while I will vote for someone that truly believes in Liberty, Sound Money and Sovernty.

Rob E   January 18th, 2008 11:35 am ET

I hope someone brings a lawsuit against these media corporations using public airwaves to distort democracy. Sure Ron Paul wouldn't win, but to say that he's out of the picture while Thompson and Giuliani are still in is a complete manipulation.

K. Wilkinson   January 18th, 2008 11:29 am ET

To all of the Ron Paul supporters, I am sorry that your candidate is not doing well. He has a lot of good ideas, but then he mingles them with crazy ideas and extremist views that make him come off looking like a whack job! At this point he is not electable. You should consider putting your vote towards a viable candidate!

charlotte   January 18th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Romney, Mcain, Giuliani, Thompson, Huckabee, PauI.
I am a democrat, and for any democrat to say they would vote for one of these republicans is sickening. Don't get me wrong I have voted for a republican. But, the choice was Regan. Remember all of us cross over democrates? In retrospect I wish I hadn't. Remember when we could deduct the interest we paid on credit cards cards, automobiles, etc. off our taxes? Guess which president got that taken away. Don't forget the 19% interest rate on a home loan. The president who taxed us the most, was none other than Ronnie. Not to mention Iran Contra, Regan probable didn"t recall this or that, but you can bet Bush Sr. did. Talk about lies, shredded documents, Oliver North and others.

Miami   January 18th, 2008 10:00 am ET

I ALSO WONDER WHY RON PAUL WAS CUT OUT OF THE PICTURE AND GIULIANI IS IN IT WHEN RON PAUL HAS A HIGHER RATING THAN GIULIANI?

BOO HISS TO CNN, THE CLINTON NEWS NETWORK.

I KNOW THAT WEASEL WOLF BLITZER IS PULLING FOR BILLARY CLINTON AND I THINK HE IS ALSO PULLING FOR GIULIANI.

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   January 18th, 2008 9:47 am ET

Ron Paul supporters need to get a better clue. He doesn't have a chance to win the nomination. Enough of the Republicans won't vote for him because they know he couldn't win. The supporters of Ron Paul make all this sound and fury but don't do the vital thing to support the candidate - vote! I don't care how much money you raise; once a primary or caucus season starts and the candidate doesn't get the votes, he's toast. The only reason that Ron Paul got more votes than Giuliani or Thompson in Michigan or New Hampshire is because neither of them campaigned there.

Steve C   January 18th, 2008 9:29 am ET

CNN.........Your exclusion of Ron Paul in this photograph and misguided article when he has garnered more votes than two of "your choices" is an abomination. As fair and impartial journalists, you fail. Your interests lie in the concern of your own corporate status, connections, and marketing efforts; there is no concern whatsoever with providing the public with the fairness of reporting which has been a mainstay of our freedom and liberty. CNN, not alone, but with most huge news corporations, are fast becoming the ministries of propaganda. How absolutely un-American of you! Like propagandists through history, you operate out of fear....fear of those who control you.

peter jon   January 18th, 2008 9:26 am ET

Homosexuality is wrong plain and simple it is a sick and certainly not a logical behaviour and those involved knows that it is wrong and deep inside of them there is a restlessness and fear
Each time they are given more rights even them themselves are surprised and wonder why ,simple these are the last days and Satan is just getting more dirt and corruption spread and accepted ,Homosexuals are just plain sick and corrupted behaviour and with it comes disaster to mankind ,Floods, fires Earthquake and many other of God's sign of dissaproval that they cause and those of us who tolerate it

Justin, Atlanta, GA   January 18th, 2008 12:18 am ET

Come On CNN. Where is Ron Paul? Getting sick and tired of this.

Steve   January 17th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

These Ron Paul supporters need to get a clue. These corporate run news sites HAVE to ignore him. If they gave him the same amount of coverage as the 'Major Political Clones' he would be polling in the upper teens right now and that would make him a threat to actually garner the nomination. Marginalizing him didn't work, it is now time to pretend he doesn't exist. So what's wrong with Ron Paul winning the nomination? He's talking about changes that would knock the elite off their golden thrones. We couldn't have that when the main goal seems to be the destruction of the middle class. Lastly, it was decided 2 years ago Hillary is the next president. Long live Deibold!

Val Davydov, MA   January 17th, 2008 10:36 pm ET

I admire McCain for his service to our country – he is a true hero in my book – but it will be a HUGE mistake if he gets Republican nomination. Reasons why: McCain's opposition to Marriage Amendment, The Gang of 14, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy Immigration Amnesty Bill, and his opposition to Bush tax cuts. McCain is more liberal and conservative and Republicans will not vote for him in general. Sorry.

Also, Mr. Righteous (Huck) said that he doesn't believe in running negative campaigns attacking other candidates while he is doing exactly that now – and he is doing that to his own buddy. How very sad.

dan   January 17th, 2008 10:02 pm ET

CNN; I hope one day you all get what you deserve for ruining our democracy.

Linda Fannon   January 17th, 2008 9:38 pm ET

John McCain is the only candidate with the experience to lead us out of this mess. I heard from a Massachusett resident on the Hugh Hulette national radio show tonight that Romney, as a one term governor (thats 4 years) and he spent 2 of those years out of the state already running for President. I have a son and son in Law in the Military. No one except McCain understand the horrors of war like he does. Our military men and women will not spend one more unnecessary day than needed to get this mess straightened out. McCain will see that our military have the resources needed to fight and win this war. And he will make congress work for a change, by making them work together.

ron's the man   January 17th, 2008 8:34 pm ET

No Ron Paul? What's going on? Oh, thats right people hate freedom and love war!

George   January 17th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

I am, most definitely, not a Ron Paul supporter (Huckabee 08), but I will be the first to say that the media bias against Ron Paul and pro-McCain and pro-Romney is outrageous. Its not just CNN, but this incident is pretty typical!

CJ   January 17th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

Mitt Romney,Fred Thompson, and Ron Paull all need to drop out.

CJ   January 17th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

NO, CNN does not like Romney, they are just into removing comments today, with nothing else intelligent to do.

lol   January 17th, 2008 7:26 pm ET

Probably on youtube now??

Rick Boston   January 17th, 2008 7:25 pm ET

Romney is out of control. A bitter man. He is finally realizing he will lose SC and most of Feb 5 states.

John GA   January 17th, 2008 7:22 pm ET

WeTheSheeple   January 17th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

CNN is just as sick and twisted as Fox News they're just a little bit more subtle about it. No mention of Ron Paul even though he soundly beat those clowns Giuliani and Thompson. He clearly has huge grassroots support and more fourth quarter campaign funds than any of those fake conservatives to prove it.

Trust me CNN, many of your viewers (including me) will not forget this betrayal to our country.

Jordan   January 17th, 2008 6:39 pm ET

That's a bunch of misinformed crap! Ron Paul???

I wish there was a place in the FCC you could file a complaint against grosse misinformation. Five candidates- kiss it!

Sandy , Brookline MA   January 17th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

ALL media outlets have proclaimed a victory in WYOMING as "useless" and it is useless.
Romney is NOT a frontrunner, never has been, never will be.
McCain will win.
Romney camp is sitting online blogging these posts for Romney. It is so obvious.
Romney is NOT fit to be Presidemt. He lies, distorts, attacks, flip-flops, and sold his soul to get even MI.
He lied to the autoworkers.
What will Romney do, when those poor guys do NOT get their jobs back ???????
They are gone for good, as HONEST McCain said !!
STOP LYING MITT !

Rick   January 17th, 2008 5:57 pm ET

A friend told me to check out your site. What a joke! No Ron Paul? WHy would you leave him out? It sort of like that stupid electability question he was asked during the last FOX debate. Let's see, there are more than 300 million people in this country and seven candidates are still in the running. Why would you just include five of them??

Tim, Minnesota   January 17th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I can only wonder if the media is on board to go to war again, since they won't even show/talk about the only anti-Iraq war candidate. I guess their rich kids at CNN stand no chance of going to war.

These other candidates think they can bomb our way to a better economy. Watch all these phonies talk about Martin Luther King this week. If MLK were alive today,Rudy,Romney,McCain and Huck would say he's soft on terror and liberal. Crooks.

Val Davydov, MA   January 17th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I think the caption would be clearer (and more true!) if it stated something like:

Romney, McCain, Huckabee, Thompson and Paul (NOT PICTURED OR MENTIONED ONCE IN THE VIDEO) are still in contention to win the GOP nomination.

Oscar, Rio Vista, CA   January 17th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Fred Thompson made a huge mistake entering the race. Just because he was on TV he thought people would vote for him. He is going to be out of the race very soon and Sam Waterson has taken his job on Law & order. Fred, I can see a great big "L" on your forehead.

CNN - Please give Ron Paul the respect he deserves.

TinHatWearer   January 17th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Call me crazy (and I'm sure you will), but it sure looks like the media bias against Ron Paul is in full swing.

I can't wait for Hillary to run our country for the next 8 years and then we can have Jeb for 8 years after that so that by 2024 Chelsea will be ready to run. Long live Democrazy!

geocr   January 17th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Way to go CNN; another piece of coverage without Ron Paul.

Tammy   January 17th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

I thought that the news was still somewhat trustworthy, but I don't any longer. When you state there are only five candidates still in contention in the Republican race, show two who have received less votes than Ron Paul, and leave him out ( implying he is no longer in the race), you have lost all credibility with this voter. It is so obvious that the media is attempting to hide Ron Paul's candidacy from the American people.

Mike in Boston   January 17th, 2008 4:43 pm ET

I can't help but notice that you've cut Ron Paul out of this picture. Ron Paul has beaten Rudy Giuliani twice and Fred Thompson once yet he gets removed from the photo. What is going on here?

josh   January 17th, 2008 4:41 pm ET

fred tompson needs to drop out. although people like him, they cannot take him seriously as a presidential candidate. hes only hurting the republican filed.

NCMArc   January 17th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

I love the convenient cropping of this photo. Why is it that Rudy and Thompson are considered major candidates? Ron Paul is ahead of both of them. In fact he's polling higher than Rudy in the latest SC polls.

Amazing Bias here by CNN.

Andrew Bissell   January 17th, 2008 4:32 pm ET

I'm sorry, there must be some mistake...under the picture it says " Five candidates are still in contention to win the GOP nomination". Dr. Ron Paul is also very much a contender after thumping Thompson and Guiliani in the primaries so far, so let's please not take Fox's lead on this and do some balanced reporting.

Thanks in advance for correcting this gross error.

Henry   January 17th, 2008 4:30 pm ET

(CNN) – UPDATE
Not pictured above is Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul a Congressmen from Texas who beat both Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson in Michigan's republican primary. Congressmen Paul, who also beat Giuliani in the Iowa caucus and Thompson in the New Hampshire primary, placed fourth overall in Michigan's primary. Paul has a fraction of the name recognition that America's mayor, Rudy Giuliani has or Law and Order's Thompson yet continues to dominate the two in these early primary states.

Despite, a near media blackout Paul has gained favor amongst voters looking to return to the rule of law, adhere to the constitution, bring our troops home and out of harms way, and those who abdide by the principles of liberty, prosperity and peace. It remains unclear whether Americans have any interest in liberty, prosperity and peace. Time will tell.

Also, as we are incredibly busy discussing big government, pro-pre-emptive aggressive war candidates McCain, Huckabee, Thompson, Romney, Giuliani, Clinton, Obama and Edwards please visit http://www.ronpaul2008.com to learn more about this limited government, non-interventionist, pro-liberty candidate.

blsmith   January 17th, 2008 4:20 pm ET

CNN, the Censoring News Network, at it again. Only 5 GOP nominees left? What about Paul & Hunter? They have delegates and Guiliani doesn't – why is Guiliani still relevant? Paul has more votes than Guiliani right now. Why is CNN only reporting the news that they want to report?

william walsh columbus ohio   January 17th, 2008 4:19 pm ET

this pic looks like a bunch of car salesmen ready for the next customer to in, what a group!

Mary, Michigan   January 17th, 2008 4:15 pm ET

Ben K, it's great that you support Hillary. I'm a Barack supporter. But, if Hillary wins the nomination she has my vote.

I disagree with your comment. I think either candidate has a better chance than any Republican candidate (except McCain) to take the White House.

Mary M, Houston, TX   January 17th, 2008 4:11 pm ET

Stop lying to the American people, CNN.

Stop trying to choose our candidate for us.

You're supposed to remain unbiased, yet you exclude a major contender from your "reporting" on a regular basis.

You're part of what's wrong with this country.

Mary M, Houston, TX   January 17th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

This is so ridiculous.

These are the combined vote totals for Iowa, New Hampshire and Michigan:

Romney – 443,139 Total Votes
McCain – 361,546 Total Votes
Huckabee – 207,308 Total Votes
Paul – 84,554 Total Votes
Giuliani – 50,925 Total Votes
Thompson – 49,198 Total Votes
Hunter – 4,567 Total Votes

RON PAUL IS WAY AHEAD OF GIULIANI AND THOMPSON.

How can you claim that there are only FIVE in contention. If you include Giuliani and Thompson, YOU MUST INCLUDE PAUL.

What are you so afraid of, CNN? And, FOX? And, MSN? And, all you other corporate media "news" outlets?

Benoite   January 17th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

Obviously you made a mistake here: Ron Paul is also in contention to win the GOP nomination. Why are you leaving him out??

RomanMaroni   January 17th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

So which one is Ron Paul? I heard he was running for president and actually beat Giuliani soundly in the primaries and beat Fred Thompson soundly in New Hampshire. I keep looking at the picture and it says 5 candidates, but I don't see Ron Paul anywhere. Must just be an error. Same with CBS' website who has Ron Paul listed as dropped out. Weird.

Sandy   January 17th, 2008 4:00 pm ET

Only 5 candidates are still in contention to win the GOP??
Last time I checked,Ron Paul was still in the race.Shame on you people for cutting him out!And I'm sure you won't put this comment on your blog,or any other person that mentions Ron
Paul.

charlie houston texas   January 17th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

I love how Ron Paul is not in the picture posted. He has beaten Guiliani and Thompson twice each in the first three primaries. He has 17 delegates in West virginia and raised more money ($20 million) in the 4th quarter than any other candidate. Unfortunately perception is reality and if the media continues to give the perception that Ron Paul is not serious the public will believe it.

The Media protrays him not able to win, but this sounds more like self-fulfilling prophecy. To not vote for Ron Paul is like voting we should abolish the US Constitution, for he votes right down the line in accordance to the US Constitution.

Eric   January 17th, 2008 3:57 pm ET

Ben K, where do you get this idea? Have you read the polls citing potential match ups? They all disagree with you. The only democratic candidate out of the remaining 3 that would loose to any republican is Hillary (loose to McCain). I don't think anyone outside of the insular Clinton camp is falling for this line anymore.

OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE BLOWING IT   January 17th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

Ben. K is spot on.

Also, Obama and his supporters are proving that they are NOT ready for the big leagues. They whine and cry foul at every word that may or may not sound bigoted or derogotory and they demand, rather try to earn, respect. They are playing hard with the race card and it is staring to bend and get dog-eared. What will they do when the rest of the world says something unflattering or rude about Obama in the future? Their outrage will fall on deaf and uninterested ears and when no 'apologies' will be forthcoming, what then? Will they go sulk in the corner? We need a PRESIDENT not an oversensitive child.

Jonathan T   January 17th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

Ron Paul has received more votes than Giuliani and Thomson in the Michigan, New Hampshire and Iowa elections. Now he is suddenly not a factor. How can this race be down to five when 46 states have yet to speak? How can this race be down to five when two candidates mentioned received fewer votes than the man not pictured?

Jennifer S.   January 17th, 2008 3:49 pm ET

I see Ron Paul is cropped out of this picture. Another example of biased reporting by the MSM. Nice job, CNN – you are no better than FNC

Keith   January 17th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

Ron Paul Please.

Thomas Wells   January 17th, 2008 3:44 pm ET

Good job on having Ron Paul kept out of the picture. Your free lance photographers must be worth their pay.

Attacks by the Establishment   January 17th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

Thanks for including Ron Paul! Still Scared I see!

Your right to be. If Paul wins you will not rip off the American taxpayer by getting big government contracts!

Matt M.   January 17th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

What the...!? What's up with this picture of McCain, Thompson, Romney, Giuliani, and Huckabee with the caption "Five candidates are still in contention to win the GOP nomination"!? Did Ron Paul remove himself from the running while I wasn't looking?

Or did CNN remove him from the running as far as your reports are concerned?

J Houston, TX   January 17th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Mitt Romney has the largest margin of delegates for either race.

Hillary and Obama are closer tied...yet the GOP race is the "up for grabs" race? Perhaps you should try "Diverse Competition in GOP race."

Ben K.   January 17th, 2008 3:33 pm ET

I pray Hillary wins the Democratic candidate for vthe Nov. elections cos a win for Obama will keep the Republicans in the White House, a situation not good for the entire world.

Jonathan, UT   January 17th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

Experience has trained me to take what the media says with a grain of salt. And thats ok, they have to sell a story and thats their job. But I'm sickened by how the media keeps reporting on the "muddled" GOP field. By CNN's own count, Mitt Romney has twice the amount of delegates as any other candidate. He has been the frontrunner since the second contest. When he won Wyoming (which provides as many, if not more delegates than New Hampshire), nothing was said. When John McCain won New Hampshire, the media claimed he had "sky-rocketed to frontrunner status", but when Mitt Romney won Michigan the GOP field became "muddled".

Why?

Shame on you, CNN.

Duane Johnson   January 17th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

Thompson and Giuliani are "still in contention" but Paul is not? The political ticker bias is sickening.

Tim F   January 17th, 2008 3:15 pm ET

Ron Paul cut out by the mainstream media again!!

D   January 17th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Please consider Romney’s qualifications. He graduated as Valedictorian from BYU. Romney then graduated in the top 5% from Harvard, earning an MBA with honors. Mitt Romney does not drink, smoke, or swear, He is a wholesome family man who married his high school sweetheart. He is a successful businessman. He founded one of the nation's most successful venture capital and investment companies. They guided many struggling companies to success. He turned around the 2002 Winter Olympic Games that had been sinking with $379 million in debt. The games ended up with $100 million in profit and Romney donated all his salary to charity.

As the successful Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt implemented a health care plan that covers all residents and costs less to the state than before it was started. He would bring that blue Democratic state to the Republicans in the general election. Most of all,

Romney knows how the economy works and how to bring our jobs back! No illegal aliens will be given amnesty with Romney in the White House. They will be sent home.

David, Gilbert Arizona   January 17th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

So Romney having 48 delegates and Huckabee having 19 and McCain having 15 makes the GOP race jumbled with no clear front runner? Dana Bash needs to take a remedial math class.

Ric   January 17th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Actually there are more then 5 candidates still in contention for the GOP nomination. Duncan Hunter is still in the running and more importantly RON PAUL WHO HAS RAISED MORE MONEY IN THE 4TH QUARTER 2007 THEN ANY OTHER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE, HAS WON THE MOST REPUBLICAN STRAW POLLS AND HAS RECIEVED MORE VOTES NATIONALLY THEN FRED THOMPSON AND RUDY GUILIANI!!! Sorry for writing in caps but your bias just disgusts me to know end. Keep up with the propaganda. You are giving Fox News a run for their money.

Mario   January 17th, 2008 2:50 pm ET

Romney needs the south and the south needs Romney! without one or the other, things are going to get worse and fast!

Go Mitt!

Jonathan T   January 17th, 2008 2:10 pm ET

Unbelievable. You managed to find a picture without Ron Paul in it and stated in the caption that the race was down to five. Ron Paul has received more votes than Guiliani and more votes than Thomson in the Michigan, New Hampshire and Iowa elections. Now he is suddenly not a factor. CNN, you are a disgrace to journalism. How can we allow a news outlet to manipulate real events and drastically influence our nation's future.

Lorenz, Queens, NY   January 17th, 2008 2:02 pm ET

Afraid to even show Ron Paul – typical of you CNN
