Why didn't Dole beat Clinton? Dole arguably should have won, based on experience and credentials. But Dole was (and is) OLD! He looked like an old geezer compared to Bill. Let's face it America - we want a leader who is somewhat good looking and doesn't look like he deserves a retirement home in the near future. To say that looks don't matter is naive wishful thinking. McCain is this year's Bob Dole. He cannot win a national election - it doesn't matter what his credentials. Oh, and the fact that he wants to keep us in Iraq for generations to come doesn't help much either.

John McCain will never be President of the USA because he is not a natural born Citizen. He was not born in a State of the USA. He was born in the Canal Zone
which was not even a territory of the USA but leased land which the USA paid rent every year. All you have to do is look at the 1st sentence of the 14th Amendment. He is however a citizen of the USA. Additionally, their are probably a 100 cases where natural born citizen is used in debates and other documents and I can recall at least 10 of the top of my head.
One important case which in reality is two because it is mentioned twice and used differently is when the two houses passed a constitutional amendment requiring both Senators and members of the House to be natural born citizens instead of just citizens. It obviously did not secure the votes of enough states to pass but is two cases which what is meant by being natural born is clarified.
MCCain cannot even get past 14 th Amendment to the Constitution and the Act of
26 mAr 1790 which he tried to use for qualification to become President was repealed on 29 jan 1795 because the Senate tried to extend the term natural born citizen to the North West territories which were not States at the time. Additionally
Act of 26 mar 1790 was illegal because according to Constitution Congress is authorized to Act only in naturalization cases. Look it up yourself.

Chuck Norris has been hit in the head too many times. I think it's disgusting that a 68 year old man (yes, Chuck is 68) has small children. It's incredibly selfish to have babies when you're on social security.

Rodney:

I agree with your points, however, to correct the record: Bill Clinton did not wipe out the national debt. It hasn't been down to zero since Andrew Jackson was president. Clinton did generate the largest SURPLUSES in history, while Ronald Reagan's DEFICITS for EVERY YEAR IN OFFICE were higher than the highest record deficit year of Jimmy Carter.

Bush has smashed all the deficit records created by Ronald Reagan.

Mr. Amadeo   You had better go check your history books.There was advisors in Vietnam before President Kenndy took office.As for Reagan, when he was in office there were no jobs to be found. The national debt was the 2nd highest in history. { I think Boy George holds the record.}

So if Sen. Mcain is going to be like Reagan, I'll be voting for Hillary.

"Let's not forget that NAFTA, which is being cited by the three stooges on the dais, was passed under Clinton."

But let's also not forget that NAFTA was not Clinton's legislation, it was hold over legislation from George H.W. Bush that he ferociously fast tracked before the end of his term... in fact Bush 1 signed NAFTA in December of 1992!

Bill Clinton campaigned vigorously against it, but after beginning his first term one of his first actions was to reach across the aisle and work with Congress on this legislation, which led to it's passage.

"The economic bonanza during Clinton's first period was inherited as a result of Reaganomics."

So the staggering debt that was the result of Reaganomics is what was responsible for Clinton's economic bonanza??? I will never get that con-servative argument... Clinton wipes out the national debt and leaves the country with a multi billion dollar surplus, and the argument is that he was able to do so because of Reagan's economic policies which were the cause of the enormous debt in the first place. That is tantamount to saying that Bush 2's economic policies and tax cuts are going to be responsible for our next Democratic President's ability to wipe out the national debt.

The Iraq wars, plural I might note, happened under Bush's. Remember???

I hate Norris comments, but i don't think the media has to always make something out of nothing. Comments like that are not worth occupying the front page of the breaking News. Even though McCain is qualify, i still believe he is too old to be running for President. Lets give fresh minds the chance.

Mr. McCain at 72 has more brains, experience, finesse, ability and expertise than all the other candidates combined. Hillary wants to be top dog no matter how she gets there or who gets in her way; Obama lacks experience big time and Rudy

I like McCain, but the thing about him that bothers me is the way he roots for that Bush and his warmongering ways. If McCain gets elected, would he start more misguided wars and perpetuate the killing and the bloodshed that the present brainless occupant of the White House has started?

I don't understand why Chuck Norris is getting so much press attention. This is from a B Grade TV Star ( at best !) who has NO political experience and very little education. All this attention from a man, who met & married his current wife AFTER she sent him Nude photos of herself in the mail ! This is TRUE ! SCARY !
Didn't know that Huckabee had promoted Norris to his "spokesman" !

I am voting for MITT ROMNEY!!!!!

Mitt has not been in Washington for years like John McLaim, Clinton and Obama.

Mitt has held executive positions as a Govenor and in private business, Obama, Clinton and John McLaim have only worked in Washington they do not have a clue about private business or the American economy.

Mitt is a conservative that’s why the media hates him; John McLaim is a liberal just look who he associates with Kennedy, Feingold, the gang of 14, ect. and that’s why the media loves John McLaim.

Mitt is against amnesty for illegal aliens; Obama, Clinton and John McLaim are for amnesty for illegal aliens.

Mitt is for tax cuts, Obama, Clinton and John McLaim are against tax cuts and want to raise our taxes.

Mitt is for conservative judges, Obama, Clinton and John McLaim are for liberal judges.

Mitt wants to free Americans and American business from the federal government Obama, Clinton and John McLaim want big government and are responsible for big government we have.

Mitt will fight to protect this country and build a strong military; Obama, Clinton and John McLaim stood by when al-Qaeda attacked our interests in the 1990 and the 1980s.

Mitt Romney is the right change for America

Vote for Mitt!!!

Mitt Romney is now leading in Florida polls

ROMNEY: flip-flopping all over the place, when not extending thruth beyond belief : seeing the father marching with Dr. M.L. King, REMEMBER?

HUCKABEE: ready to stick the confederate flag's pole into someone's behind.. not very Christian, don't you think so?

GIULIANI: ready to use 911 for $ 100,000 speeches and for any political gain. Another GOP candidate who extended the truth beyond belief, e.g.: exposing himself to the harmful effect of Ground Zero's dust just AS MUCH and AS LONG as any of the rescuers, REMEMBER?

McCAIN: The only decent of the bunch. Unlike all other GOP "CHICKEN HAWKS" (ready to send YOUR children to WAR, NOT THEIRS!!) , fought for his Country, knows the meaning and the devastating effects of war, prison, torture and doesn't need "B" movies actors to be reminded of his age.

Save for McCain, what a pathetic bunch!!

Well Bush Jr. is a young President, what is his excuse, oh yeah sheer incompetence. Reagan didn't even know where he was by his second term in office and he was still a better President. Age is a number that means very little if your born by neo-cons. They still eat their young I hear.

Yeah, reagan was such a great president...

"His policy of "peace through strength" resulted in a record peacetime defense buildup, including a 40% real increase in defense spending between 1981 and 1985" - There goes your tax money. More guns.

"During Reagan's tenure, income tax rates were lowered significantly, with the top personal tax bracket dropping from 70% to 28% in seven years,[77] although effective payroll tax rates increased." - If you were really rich, more money to you. If you were poor, you suddenly had to pay more taxes.

"In order to cover newly-spawned federal budget deficits, the United States borrowed heavily both domestically and abroad, raising the national debt from $700 billion to $3 trillion,[88] and the United States moved from being the world's largest international creditor to the world's largest debtor nation." - More money to the CEOs!

So he destroyed the US economy and tax system, made the poor poorer and the rich richer and bought guns with the money that was left.

All quoted from wikipedia, everything has sensible citations too.

McCain will last as long as the people who write his speeches. As long as he can see well enough to read, he can continue saying everything his writers are scripting for him. Unfortunately, he's already having trouble doing that. It's impossible to pretend his age and condition aren't going to be an issue. He doesn't give me the impression of being able to inject the energy and vigor into a troubled economy that's in such desperate need of it.

McCain was a soldier, is a soldier, and will be a soldier if he is elected. It's the same as putting a military general in power - bad for America. Let's just hope McCain doesn't win...

I guess Chucky doesn't realize that age legally cannot be a factor in getting a job. The Presidency is a job like all others; therefore, it is illegal to bring the issue of age into the mix.

Personally, I believe that there is nothing like experience when looking for the best candidate for a job. And for the Presidency, it's JOHN MCCAIN --- most experience AND most common sense. He was sitting in a POW camp while poor lil' rich boy Romney was still picking his nose.

At this point, most educated conservatives view McCain as someone who lost his principles in the last decade. I highly doubt Huckabee, McCain, or Giuliani are going anywhere except the CNN treadmill to spin.

I'm a none American awaiting my visa's to soon start my future in the US with my American wife. I certainly am keeping a very close tab at all the debates both Dem's and the Rep, even though I agree with most of the Democrats, I still personally feels its Johan MacCain for the Republican party nomination. Having said that I was astonished by Chuck Norris comment and I strongly believe its unwarranted. So let me tell you American citizens, Chuck Norris is just a cardboard actor and Mr. Johan MacCain is a true American hero irrespective of his political party and he deserve more respect. So go head make him the Republican nominee even though its Democrats who will still take office!

Is this the way a presidential candidate gets his support...from B-Movie wannabee star?
I knew that these elections always get a little bit heated up when primaries are won or lost, depends what side you're...but please get down to the essentials because you're tearing down the image of what the USA once stood for : The land of the free and opportunities, now you're merely making it look like Disneyland in realtime...with no disrespect to the US-people.

I'm a Democrat and I won't be voting for McCain or Huckabee but let me say that Chuck Norris's comments were unwarranted, uncalled for and rude. Anyone he would support should be ashamed to be associated with him after this comment. I hope that every senior citizen who will be voting in the Republican primaries takes notes of this and votes accordingly. It's no wonder that Carlos Ray (aka Chuck Norris) behaves like this since his background indicates that he is and will always be a loser just like his father.

Amadeo, where do I start for pete's sake. First of all, you argue that Jimmy Carter created his own economic problems during his presidency but that Reagan's economic policies didn't make rain until the Clinton presidency a decade later? That's inconsistent and inaccurate.

Second, the Vietnam war happened under Kennedy? Uh, last I checked Vietnam was not Kennedy's war. Iraq will "happen" under the next president, too, but everyone knows whose war it is.

Reagonomics were a disaster for this country. For details of what actually happened read Paul Krugman in the NYT yesterday.

Finally, I agree that McCain would bring renewed energy. Clinton or Obama would bring renewed energy. A dishtowel would bring renewed energy to the White House at this point. Republicans had their shot and even most of them now realize how badly it has been screwed it up. (See Comeback, by Bush's former speechwriter, on how Bush has brought the party and the country to the "brink of disaster".)

It is time to try a different path. Good luck in 2012, though.
