MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) - Barack Obama is echoing what he's been insinuating on the trail of late: Hillary Clinton is not truthful. He's saying she is taking him out of context, twisting his words, and mischaracterizing past votes. It's getting a good reception in the debate hall.

Senator Edward asked Hillary a question. It was something like since you talk about being ready one Day One, can you commit that you will not have any lobbiest walk or have access to your White House.

The answer from Hillary was something like '......... I don`t know"

Welcome to the world of truethfullness Clintonian style. The Democrats will have themselves to blame in Novermber. You cannot nominate Hillary who has as more people saying they will not vote for her in the general election as those who say they will. You cannot have a nominee with that many negative. For the Democrats to win in Novermber, they need someone who can energise the Democratic base, bring in new people who have never voted, and some republican and Independence. Obama has shown that he can do that. i guest the Democratic establishment which is trying to force their candidate on the THROAT of people does not care about her negative approvals. Novermber may be a wake up call for them. They need to lost in Novermber (maybe a Mccain 51%, Hillary 48%) before they will wake up.

Obama supporters, if the establishment of the DNC continue to be passive as Bill uses the authority of a Former President to engage in personal attacks on Obama be ready to stay home in Novermber if Obama is not on the ticket. Do the right thing. Stay home as many anti Hillary will. let the Republican have the White House again. That will teach the establisment of the Democratic party a lession. They were elected to stop the war in Iraq but have not done so. Maybe the people need to sent them a message tin Novermber hat their loyalty to the Democratic party should not be take for granted.

Hey Obama, do u remember that line in the movie "A Few Good Men" when Tom Cruise ask Jack Nickleson "we just want the truth" & what did Jack said to him. "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH".

CLINTON & EDWARDS ALL THE WAY!!!

Tyler in Raleigh   January 22nd, 2008 12:31 am ET

A Clinton lie.... NEVER. They just need lessons on grammer, like what words such as "is" mean.

Hillary's "experience" standing behind a President that was impeached, a liar and lost his law license is just sad. What can we expect from this pair.... they are greedy, power hungry liars... but they are in the right place, American politics.

charley   January 22nd, 2008 12:24 am ET

The new ticket should be Edwards -Pelosi

charley   January 22nd, 2008 12:21 am ET

Improve CNN's performance
Get to the issues.
Stay on the issues,
make the candidates to stay on the issues.
Ask questions afterwards about who will solve the issues,
Don't get lost on the color of ties, who is blacker, who won,or who will vote for whom

stella   January 22nd, 2008 12:19 am ET

I will rather vote a republican than vote Hillary. She cannot bring the country together and she is pretending now in order to win. Just wait if she wins and you will see her true color. Go OBAMA

GaryO Virginia Beach   January 22nd, 2008 12:09 am ET

Of course Obama's criticisms of Clinton appeared to be "getting a good reception in the debate hall." The debate hall was packed with vocal (i.e., LOUD) Obama supporters.

baseman   January 21st, 2008 11:50 pm ET

Once again Obama refuses to pledge allegience to the flag of the United States of America. There are pictures of this with others on stage and he has his back to the flag ,both hands by his side as the others pledge allegience. Think about this............Is this really who you want to lead the greatest nation in the world. Not me. I fought for that flag and Obama denies it. He wont ever get my vote.

John Edwards is the working mans president. Make it official and elect the man who works for the working man.

Cindy   January 21st, 2008 11:49 pm ET

This is another attempt to post. Apparently, my post I made a half hour ago is not getting 'moderated'.
Is it because I spoke out and asked WHY the media is not giving JOHN EDWARDS his fair amount of attention?
Let's try this again:

It is time for the media……..ALL of the media to realize that John Edwards is in this race. John Edwards had the most to say tonight that made good, common, calm & coherent sense.
JOHN EDWARDS: Great Work! Good job keeping the humor and you make a Democrat, PROUD!
Now, to the MEDIA: PAY ATTENTION! JOHN EDWARDS is running for
President of the United States of America! Get with it!

John H   January 21st, 2008 11:39 pm ET

I was a committed Clinton supporter, but after tonight I don't know. She was very partisan and negative. Attack after attack. It's not very presidential and Obama is looking much better.

Gary of LA   January 21st, 2008 11:32 pm ET

No politician is ever honest. You have to choose wisely on who has the experience and ready to take down the Republicans. Hillary can do all this! I would like to see her win the Democratic nomination.

Jerome   January 21st, 2008 11:27 pm ET

Barack Obama came across as very high handed and pompous tonight. It seems he cannot take any type of criticism.

Aidyn   January 21st, 2008 11:26 pm ET

Obama did no need to go there because he is just as bad.

Becky Montgomery   January 21st, 2008 11:16 pm ET

I think Obama took up for himself well. I am tired of the Clintons' dirty tricks. Don't people remember all of the scandals? Republicans do.

Wes   January 21st, 2008 11:07 pm ET

America shouldn't stand for dynasties. We have a lot of smart people that are not named Bush or Clinton. We need a new face in Washington that can get things done. Hillary is seasoned politician and will tell you what you want to hear. Obama will bring people together and get this done. Hillary will divide us more than Bush ever has. Democrats, who would get more independent voters in November, Obama or Hillary? If you're voting for Hillary, you're voting for a republican president.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   January 21st, 2008 11:02 pm ET

He's right, Hillary uses distortion and lies. Enough is enough and she won't get my vote, I personally dislike a liar who is also very good at distorting the truth. But I have to give it to her, she learned it from the best, Bill.

Korey   January 21st, 2008 11:00 pm ET

An Obama/Clinton ticket is the best! I can go for a Clinton/Obama ticket if Bill stops the attacks on Obama. As a life long and proud Democrat, I will vote Republican on a Clinton/Clinton ticket-Bill and Hillary, that is!

1971guy   January 21st, 2008 10:54 pm ET

Never obama...Mccain if i have too...

Clinton -08

Ellen   January 21st, 2008 10:51 pm ET

There is the truth AND Clinton truth. They are not the same thing!

Hillary sees the world according to her and Bill's reality. We the ordinary people who work everyday, pay high ass gas and energy bills, and pay more for grocery each time we shop, know a very different MLK dream from Mrs. Clinton.

We need CHANGE now. This debate proves it.

Obama CAN beat John McCain or Mitt Romney!

1971guy   January 21st, 2008 10:50 pm ET

Armand...good b/c Obama's camp started the fray and Hillary's camp can't compete in the black belt South...and if they defend themselves they are racists!

Jane   January 21st, 2008 10:43 pm ET

Did I miss something at the end of the debate or did Obama snub Hillary and stay out of range of shaking her hand?

For those of us who still read papers, the controversy over Obama's numerous "present" votes was revealed a long time ago. It is, and should be, an issue to anyone who is looking for decisiveness in his/her president.

And for everyone who loves Obama's speeches, you really love 26 year-old Jon Favreau, his speechwriter. When Obama is on his own, he wanders around the point and inserts too many ums.

1971guy   January 21st, 2008 10:43 pm ET

cnn is anti hillary and would never say anything against an aa...that's why they will lose more viewers to fox and msnbc

James Smith   January 21st, 2008 10:42 pm ET

Obama cant even get it right when he heard what she said & a lot of other people heard also, Hillary made a comment about Obama & obama wanted to refute it so he said she said Reagan when she did not , so he couldnt get away with that distortion so he said well Bill did, so she told him I am here tonight not Bill.
It just seemed to me that he is A phony, he cant defend his record , he didnt get the comment right, I think he was disappointing tonight.

Emeka Baltimore, Md   January 21st, 2008 10:31 pm ET

Obama had the audacity to question Clinton's truthfulness while on the on other hand he didn't answer convincingly question's about his consistent vote for Iraq funding his oppostion to the war notwithstanding; Obama did not substantiate thoroughly, the question about his voting pattern in Illinois

Paul   January 21st, 2008 10:30 pm ET

All this debate did was reafirm my position that John Edwards is by far the best of the bunch. Keep on keepin on John!!

Peter   January 21st, 2008 10:05 pm ET

I've worked 40 years in a multinational corporation and have seen the lies some woman try to rely on in order to break through the glass ceiling. They would have been more successful if they simply were honest because their dishonesty is transparent. Hillary is of this ilk. In a national election the electorate will see through this resulting in another Republician President. Ladies: if you value the need for a Democrat Adminstration, don,t support this woman.

Roxanne in Texas   January 21st, 2008 10:04 pm ET

I would think Hillary would be a little more cautious raising ethical issues regarding Obama! Its one thing for her to let her minions do it, but when HIllary and Bill Clinton raise issues about anybody's ethics, it sure revives in some of our minds the many, many ethical concerns that go back to Arkansas.

BARACK IS NOT ANSWERING QUESTION-HE TRAVELS AROUND THE QUESTIONS–I DON'T TRUST HIM ONE BIT............................

Cameron   January 21st, 2008 10:03 pm ET

Edwards is a small town politician. He is not ready for a job as big as the American Presidency. I get the feeling that he and Hillary are teaming up. With Edwards falling in 3rd most of the time, it would be smart for he and Hillary to knock Obama out. But I still firmly believe that Obama will be triumphant in it all.

Earlene Otto   January 21st, 2008 10:02 pm ET

Sen. Obama needs to look closer to home when he speaks of truthfullness. Sen. Obama claims to be a Christian yet when he took office, he swore on the Koran. This is not the act of a Christian but a Muslim. How can he be depended upon to be believed when he denies his own faith

Mia   January 21st, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Obama is very trustworthy to lead us!!!

OSUEric   January 21st, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Hillary can run on her record!! She can and has explained her positions. Obama talks a nice talk but cant produce results!!!

Mr. Dixon   January 21st, 2008 10:01 pm ET

Hillary takes a lot of money from special interest groups. And does not deny it. I feel she is willing to sell America.

QUESTION TO HILLARY:

Would Lobbyists work in your White House?

ANSWER:

Blah Blah Blah

SHE SIMPLY CANNOT ANSWER A DIRECT QUESTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

vg   January 21st, 2008 9:58 pm ET

Don't think Clinton/bush. Think about the only candidates. I don't know how OBAMA knows everything when he is 2 year senator. and YA 2-3 years in state legislation. I don't think he is ready for the mess Bush put in this country

Cameron   January 21st, 2008 9:58 pm ET

Hillary needs a makeover. Seriously, many of you may not think that is important, but it definitely is. She looks a mess!

Bob   January 21st, 2008 9:57 pm ET

obama has a hard time defending himself. He is better on the stump where no one can question him.

Bob   January 21st, 2008 9:56 pm ET

Obama is a much better stump speaker than a debater. There is no on at the stump to challenge the generallities that get voiced. He answers to know one and when forced to defend his issues he has a very tough time.

Rochelle   January 21st, 2008 9:55 pm ET

What has Hillary done about national security?? Why is she better suited? It is becasue she is older?

Lani, GA   January 21st, 2008 9:55 pm ET

It's good to see someone (and more importantly, it's Mr. Obama) finally confronting both Hillary and Bill Clinton on their mischaracterization of Obama's statements and using a slimy, negative and divisive campaign tactics in doing so. Also, the Clintons belief they deserve to be in the White House more than anyone else! Obama has shown the Clintons are not the know-it-with-all in American politics. Our democracy shows the world that we do strongly debate on issues against the grain! However, politics should be about a vision and inclusiveness, not divisiness and mudslinging.

I applaud Mr. Obama for getting the dirty politics being played out in the open. Now, I hope each candidate will NOW focus on the issues to move America forward without race baiting, gender baiting and class baiting.

Obama has shown class and stateman ship by leading and defending his stance on the negative campaign tactics being used for "too long" by politics to divide and conquer a race and a people. Therefore, Mr. Obama will be the best president for Americans, on day one and in the future!

vg   January 21st, 2008 9:54 pm ET

all three candidate stay on the issue. do not talk about the each other's record. This country needs right now to stay on issues and how to solve the issues.

Kaye   January 21st, 2008 9:53 pm ET

Frank   January 21st, 2008 9:51 pm ET

As has been mentioned, lies, lack of truth, changing the story, and any other description of untruths are connected to the name Clinton....it is just a fact! Sad, but true.

Yves   January 21st, 2008 9:50 pm ET

politicians never lie, we want all out politicians to be truthfull, well guess what America, we cant handle the truth. DOnt blame the clintons for being dishonest whe it comes to personal matters it's not our business. When it comes to the office that they run then they are accountable to we the people...

Rochelle   January 21st, 2008 9:50 pm ET

Bill Clinton can claim to be black as soon as he gets pulled over for driving while black and suffers the repercussions black men face everyday just because of the color of their skin. It is insulting to make statements about Bill Clinton being black. He is a White man. You cannot claim to be black if you have not walked in the shoes of a black man. If you keep making that accusation you do not understand the struggle of the black man and you insult millions of black people. You also minimize the struggle of black people.

Paul   January 21st, 2008 9:49 pm ET

I don't trust Obama!

Kathy   January 21st, 2008 9:48 pm ET

I am glad for him.

Karriem   January 21st, 2008 9:46 pm ET

Why is the "present" vote still getting traction...that vote has been explained time and time again...this is like the swift boat nonsense...

Pam Sutherland, president of Illinois Planned Parenthood Council, said Mr. Obama was one of the senators with a strong stand for abortion rights whom the organization approached about using the strategy. Ms. Sutherland said the Republicans were trying to force Democrats from conservative districts to register politically controversial no votes.

Ms. Sutherland said Mr. Obama had initially resisted the strategy because he wanted to vote against the anti-abortion measures.

“He said, ‘I’m opposed to this,’” she recalled.

But the organization argued that a present vote would be difficult for Republicans to use in campaign literature against Democrats from moderate and conservative districts who favored abortion rights.

Lisa Madigan, the Illinois attorney general who was in the Illinois Senate with Mr. Obama from 1998 through 2002, said she and Mr. Obama voted present on the anti-abortion bills.

“It’s just plain wrong to imply that voting present reflected a lack of leadership,” Ms. Madigan said. “In fact, it was the exact opposite.”

Hillary continually bringing this up is a BLATANT and obvious attempt to distort his record...

Oscar   January 21st, 2008 9:46 pm ET

Come on Clintonites! Hillary and Bill are lying just like they always have. They can't change how they operate. Once a liar always a liar. Come on USA, don't buy into the Clintons lies.

roz   January 21st, 2008 9:45 pm ET

Hillary can not stay on script...this woman comes across as desperate, and divisive….her tone start the heated debate and the bickering earlier…I am happy to see the candidates responding to the question and not responding to the petty little comments on voting records. Do we really think this woman can unite our country? I am tired of the red and the blue and would like a president that would represent the red, white and blue(our counrty....AMERICANS)

Leah   January 21st, 2008 9:44 pm ET

No one can trust Hillary. She lies constantly. One minute she cries...the next minute she's acting like a man. Gee whiz, who is she. Edwards and Obama seems more sincere than her and Bill Clinton has lost credibility as a former president.

Karla   January 21st, 2008 9:44 pm ET

See how Hillary makes sour faces at Obama!

Jeff   January 21st, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Edwards has so much cohesive content and has not been given a fair shake in this format. Shame on CNN

vicki   January 21st, 2008 9:43 pm ET

Suzanne's every question was addressing to Hillary (what is wrong) and not to any other candidates.

Kaye   January 21st, 2008 9:42 pm ET

I am a Obama supporter, but I will vote for any Democrate that gets the nomination and most of the people I know will walk through fire to get to the polls to vote Democratic this year. We can not afford another 4 years of any Republican.

Veda   January 21st, 2008 9:42 pm ET

A new day is truly dawning.

We have gotten the opportunity to see Mr. Obama handle himself face to face with his opponents with as much passion as he does his oratories not liosing any of his grace. I really hope we are listening to these debates with clarity and not emotion. President and Mrs. Clinton have lied, I am not as diplomatic as Mr. Obama and they have been called on it. Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama have also begun to show that Mr. Edwards is really the third person out. Wow! what an election process.

vicki   January 21st, 2008 9:42 pm ET

I am surprise Why Suzanne is asking some nasty question to Hillary.
I wonder is she supporting OBAMA or Hllary (woman)

Jo   January 21st, 2008 9:42 pm ET

Why are all your comments favoring Obama? Your slip is showing.

Yves   January 21st, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Scott G   January 21st, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Does anyone else wonder what 35 years of experience Hillary is talking about? She always throws that number around, but she never says what she has had 35 years experience doing. I'm 35 years old, I suppose I have 35 years of experience also.

Debbieru   January 21st, 2008 9:40 pm ET

Is Obama Strong enough to handle the critizimings fromthe Republicans.

When the primaries are over Hilary in the past stood up to the republicans Can Obama.

Wolffe Blitzer is not doing a good job on controlling the candidates and the length of time they are speaking!

8maccabees   January 21st, 2008 9:40 pm ET

How about Obamas truthfulness than! I am surprised that, Hillary or Edwards did not go after Obama about his religion!
Tell me one person in this world who has a Muslim name and claims he is Christian!
Here is the truth! o be a Christian or to convert to be a Christian , every church requires a Christian name! Even if Obama would have changed his religion, than he would have changed his name too!
Do you think Obama is really telling the truth than!

Empowered   January 21st, 2008 9:39 pm ET

Hillary is a puff of wind, doing a lot of double talk and the same old rhetoric.

She is trying to throw Obama off track by using slander. That is an old political tactic. She knows if she talk about true policy she will surely get creamed.

John is actually in his subtle way supporting Obama.

Hillary should talk about all those undocumented planes landing at the Little Rock Airport when Bill was Governor.

Njeri   January 21st, 2008 9:39 pm ET

I think Hillary has demonstrated in this debate that she can hold her own and gives as good as she gets. Obama on the other hand is proving to be evasive and not standing up for what he voted for. His performance on the debate exemplifies his lack of experience. By the way i am a Black woman.

Larry   January 21st, 2008 9:38 pm ET

I still don't know where Barrack stands on most issues and, while he looks good and has charisma, don't think he's the one for the job. Hilary at least takes a stand on the issues. Edwards seems to be the only one using common sense, although it's not clear to me yet if he's the one for the job. I'd like to see more attention given to Edwards and all three speak to the issues and what they would and could do, not pie in the sky.

Debbieru   January 21st, 2008 9:37 pm ET

If Obama is having problems now with Hilary's debating him, WHAT IS HE GONA DO WHEN IT"S THE REPUBLICANS
They're gona tear him apart..They are dirty fighters and it's a long race.

When your in the public eye it is to be expected. He better get use to allot more

Yves   January 21st, 2008 9:37 pm ET

Based on what i saw today hillary made some great points and obama looked uneasy, i dont like his answers. Hillary came out looking really good today...

Armand   January 21st, 2008 9:36 pm ET

Aren't the Clintons worried by their underhanded attacks on Obama? They risk alienating a significant number of democrats and idependents come November. The last few elections, the winner won by less than 6% of the votes. Even if Obama loses the primary, if his suppoters suddenly choose not to vote in November, another republican will be in office.

David   January 21st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Wow! Hillary finally said something refreshing.....MLK's dream has come true...look what IS on that stage tonight...This would not have happened 40 years ago..

Mona   January 21st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Agree with David. Obama sounds like he is flustered, stuttering over everything. Hillary comes across as strong and knowledgeable. 130 + votes as "present" means you can't take a stand on an issue-just like George W Bush.

roz   January 21st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

Hillary can not stay on script...this woman comes across as desperate, and divisive….her tone start the heated debate and the bickering earlier…I am happy to see the candidates responding to the question and not responding to the petty little comment on voting records...

Todd   January 21st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

But the problem is she's NOT twisting his words. We've heard the tape again and again. He REALLY did say Republican's had been the party of ideas. Suddenly he's saying that he didn't mean they were "good ideas" is bizarre. He's coming off as petulant.

Nic   January 21st, 2008 9:35 pm ET

HAAA!!! question on Bill being first black man was beautifully answered by Obama.

That convinces me that although he stummers a lot when he talks, he thinks on his feet, is passionate about his cause and wants to stay truthful to the American people.

Paul   January 21st, 2008 9:33 pm ET

Hillary is holding her own against the wolf in sheeps clothing Obama...he is cocky, arrogant and will not win this election.

WE do not need another uninformed President. Didn't anyone learn that from having GWB and JC in office.

John   January 21st, 2008 9:30 pm ET

This debate is pushing me to vote for McCain in the general election even if Obama gets the nomination. Clinton is proving that she is business as usual but Obama lacks clarity. Edwards is a good guy but can't win. He has been marginalized. Here's my prediction – Edwards and Clinton fractionate the white vote, Obama takes black vote plus a portion of the white vote and takes the primary.

WD   January 21st, 2008 9:28 pm ET

I do not want Hillary (and Bill) being the president of my USA . I want a real leader not a pouter when se does not get her way. Good grief her husband has already disgraced the office as President. Why should we even consider the two of them back into OUR house. If Hillary really was concerned with the fine citizens of this USA then she would withdraw. She has not one good intention to help anyone but herself. If you Hillary supporters want a woman as president then bring one to the table that is real.

Larry   January 21st, 2008 9:26 pm ET

Her demeanor, no matter her stance on issues, renders her virtually unelectable. Ironically, the more she directs her venom at Obama, the more she is benefitting Edwards. I think she just can't help herself.

Barbara   January 21st, 2008 9:25 pm ET

There's Hillary, taking credit again for what Bill did, some of which was luck. She does not have 35 years experience in anything but desperately holding on to Bill through all his cheating and games.

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:25 pm ET

Musherra – Sorry, you descibed Obama, not Hillary. Hillary is very clear and very precise with her answers. She KNOWS how to get her point across.

Cheers to Barack for taking the moral high road. I feel he is honest and has integrity.

Pashupati Adhikari   January 21st, 2008 9:23 pm ET

HIllary now thinks that this is her last chance to overcome the unbeatable strength and personality of Obama and is backfiring the false statements against him. She should apologize immediately and eventually give up from the race. She can't be the president.

Susan   January 21st, 2008 9:23 pm ET

I am not African American but I think on the world stage, Obama as president will cause the world to view our country as a REAL democracy that is open to ALL not just the establishment.

Paul Clawson   January 21st, 2008 9:23 pm ET

Barack Obama is by far the best choice of America overall!

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:23 pm ET

Mysterious One   January 21st, 2008 9:20 pm ET

I enjoyed seeing Obama turn towards Hillary and handle her attaks, then turn towards Edwards and credibly do the same. Then follow up with attacks of his own on both, while weaving in his ideas on policy and ending with a focus on the voters. He just might be brilliant. Not sure yet.

Anon   January 21st, 2008 9:20 pm ET

Obama is very lost especially on economy.

Kaye   January 21st, 2008 9:19 pm ET

I don't want anymore spats between Clinton & Hillary. But if Hillary starts something, Barack should definitely finish it.

David   January 21st, 2008 9:19 pm ET

I like Obama, but he needs to learn how to speak and leave out all the "uh's", "um's", "but uh's". Did he go to english classes in college?
Quit STUDDERING!

With 35 years of experience, you would think Hillary would know how to push her own agenda and steer away from negative attacks. The last week of the Bill and Hillary show against Obama was sad. Shame on them they should know better!

george   January 21st, 2008 9:19 pm ET

In a perfect world, we would assume the candidate of truth like obama would dominate this race. what does this say about america. we value the guy that lies and cheat to get ahead. thats hillary. i know she will win this nomination, because being honest doesn't seem to be a valuable asset anymore. any body with common sense could observe this race and tell the clintons are lying and cheating thier way ahead by twisting thier apponents character and words. I don't think Obama is accustom to fight in that fashion.

Dottie Benedict   January 21st, 2008 9:19 pm ET

It's obvious Obama likes to give it out, but he can't take it. There is always an excuse for everything.

DLS   January 21st, 2008 9:18 pm ET

David Erickson has the most sensible comment made so far. If this is an example of what we can expect of cllinton or obama in the White House, can you imagine how much will be accomplished? Oh well..this debate beats any reality show on TV. After watching the Republican debate and comparing professionlism of these candicates ..I think we're in sad shape. Hope the next part is informative instead of combatative.

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:18 pm ET

Then Rove changed his story and thinks Repugs can beat either one of them. He had second thoughts when obama got a little popular. Rove flip floped.

becks   January 21st, 2008 9:17 pm ET

It's time that both clintons are held accountable for their lies.

brian   January 21st, 2008 9:16 pm ET

obama understands the lesson the current occupant has taught us which is, if you tell the same lie enough times it becomes truth. only by holding these lies up to the light can there be some hope of showing them for what they are. the most disappointing aspect of all of this is that it appears mr. clinton appears to be taking on this cynical strategy to aid his current ambition.

cdsw   January 21st, 2008 9:15 pm ET

Natalie, you are on point 100%. I have never been so bothered by any candidate statements as I have been by Senator Clinton's and President Clinton's of late. Despite what many have asserted recently, the Clintons did NOT rid the world of slavery. She is not my candidate of choice. In fact, if I had to line them up, she would likely come out 4th, if, for no other reason, becuase she does not come off as sincere and genuine. Senators Edwards and Obama do.

Grant   January 21st, 2008 9:15 pm ET

You guys keeping saying that Obama isn't answering well. I don't understand. How did he 'not answer well' on Reagan for instance? He said the quote and it wasn't what HIlary said Obama had said. How much more do you want? When somebody is wrong, they're wrong, its hard to elaborate when someone is just completely off, way off the mark.

Nic   January 21st, 2008 9:15 pm ET

It's sooo sad that some of us ladies have followed the "gender" bias. How do we want men to respect us if we are making these types of decisions based on gender? There we go again... proving that we (ladies) are more emotional when it comes to making decisions. What a shame.

Vote for truth!!!

Karen McDaniel   January 21st, 2008 9:15 pm ET

i can't understand why some people think that Hillary should not both react to Obama's comments or offer insights on records, etc. Even a woman has to defend herself.

Princess2   January 21st, 2008 9:13 pm ET

Wolf is really not in control. They need to let someone else moderate the next phase of the debate.

is is me or is hilary's body language totally off.. i don't like the signals she is sending.

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:13 pm ET

Must be a lot of Republicans posting on here in hopes that Obama will win. Rove has said they KNOW they can beat Obama, but not Clinton.

Eric   January 21st, 2008 9:13 pm ET

And Obama has not told the truth about lobbyists which serve on his campaign team and his large donations from state lobbyists. He also was not honest when he made the land deal with Tony Rezko and admitted himself it was a mistake.

Grant   January 21st, 2008 9:13 pm ET

Yes, Lisa it sucks, being female, setting your ex president husband to do any and all attacks, so he can take the flack for you. She is really helping the feminist movement....

S. Mixon   January 21st, 2008 9:12 pm ET

It seems the audience is beginning to see Hillary for what she is a fabricator. We need all candidates positions on the issues. They need to remove the personal agendas. Wolf just announced; the focus of the debate is changing. Let's see if it happens.

james   January 21st, 2008 9:11 pm ET

i think clinton and obama should duke it out in a bar room brawl to get it over with with winner takes all

solomon   January 21st, 2008 9:11 pm ET

wow! if this is what Wolf means by a structured debate I dont want to see what the 2nd half of the debate is going to look like... he's losing control here, although he might be letting it go on purpose.

bob w   January 21st, 2008 9:11 pm ET

CAN YOU GIVE A STRAIGHT ANSWER OBAMA

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:11 pm ET

Clinton is not lying. She is telling you how it is DC. She knows it is not an easy job to get things done there. WE need experience not an "on the job training" this time around. America is up a creek and obama is not the one to paddle the way back. .

Lars   January 21st, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Hillary is really far away from being trustworthy. Her only agenda is to be the first woman in the white house. How is not important for her, she is just an opportunistic politician.

Diane   January 21st, 2008 9:10 pm ET

I am very tired of all the bickering between Hillary and Barack. People should think long and hard about voting for either of them! John Edwards is looking better and better to me!

nina   January 21st, 2008 9:10 pm ET

Hilary is finally attacking Barak"s record and he can not really answer. but the croud is probably mostly obama's people because they are cheering everything he syas wether or not it makes sense.

Enrique   January 21st, 2008 9:09 pm ET

Barack is not only running against Hillary, but he's running against Bill's attempt at a THIRD term. Barack must respond to the mudslinging that's been thrown at him by a former president and former first lady.

Susan   January 21st, 2008 9:08 pm ET

Hillary will polorize the electorate in the general election just as she is doing to the democrats tonight. This is not what the country needs – and
I am a strong WOMAN leader writing this.

nina   January 21st, 2008 9:08 pm ET

Hilary is finally attacking Barak"s record and he can not really answer. but the croud is probably mostly obama's people because they are cheering everything he syas wether or not it makes sense.

Jacquie   January 21st, 2008 9:08 pm ET

hmm... You have to think on your feet but there is a difference between rehearsed answers (Hillary) and being truthful (Obama). When you are being truthful and practical, you don't just TALK like Hillary is talking... you think about what you say to make sure you ONLY say the truth.

Hillary is a good speaker and that's about all she's got... She learned from the very best. hm hm hm.

Lee   January 21st, 2008 9:07 pm ET

Hilliary is only drawing info for the republicans to use against who ever wins the Dems primaries. Why can't they stick to the issues?

sallywilson   January 21st, 2008 9:07 pm ET

I see the true character of these candidates coming out...this doesn't appear to be a debate on the issues, but of 2 mudslingers the likes of which hasn't been seen for many, many years. Its really counterproductive, if they want a Democrat elected. I am so disappointed in Clinton and Obama I want to turn this debate off. But I will leave it on because suddenly I want to hear what John Edwards has to say.

David   January 21st, 2008 9:06 pm ET

Hillary needs to apologize for making false statement about obama

Natalie   January 21st, 2008 9:06 pm ET

Clinton is FULL of it; she's let the fact that she's a woman destroy her image by trying to appeal to everyone (as politicians running for president do) and in turn, she's a liar, flip flops on certain issues, and pisses me off 70% of the time. She's trying to take Obama down as he's her number one threat, and she really should just stay busy keeping herself in check.

nina   January 21st, 2008 9:04 pm ET

Go Hilary!!!!!!!!!!!!

The woman finally took off her gloves. Good 4 u Hillary!!!!!!!!!!

eric   January 21st, 2008 9:04 pm ET

Really???
You think?
Both Clintons have an ingrained fundamental streak of dishonesty a mile wide.
Think about it – if Bill would lie on national tv, and under oath, what would he have done if it happened to be someone else who found out about the intern??
If a foreign govt knew of it, what would he do? Come clean, or would he do something in exchange for silence? Would he pardon someone in exchange for silence ? Would he allow technical secrets (los alamos) to fall into foreign hands to keep something quiet? We all know he would perjure himself to keep something as mundane as an affair quiet, what about a real problem?

It's not his affair, nor is it the act of perjury that makes him unfit, it is the fact that he takes perjury so lightly that makes him unfit. AND that he, as President, would place himself in a position where he could have been blackmailed.

And Hillary is made of the same mettle, but however will not be covering for "recreation"

S. Mixon   January 21st, 2008 9:03 pm ET

Until recently, I had a high regard for the Clintons. Their unilateral, personal attack on Obama has caused me to look at them in another light a "bubba" factor. Tonight as I watch the debate; her inability to answer the question because she wants to get in personal digs leads me to think she has no plan and is a puppet for Bill. She went from 35 years of experience last week to 16 years tonight. She is in her second term as senator. Sleeping with Bill does not make her a viable politician via osmosis. Hillary needs to keep her focus and reduce her anger.

The members of the Black Caucus should maintain a level of decorum. Hillary's supporters (such as Jackson Lee, Stubbs & Lewis) are a disgrace to Dr. King's legacy. They remind one of turncoats on the plantation. Obama is the first viable Black candidate; he deserves the support of all Black Americans. These same persons supported Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & Shirley Chisholm. Give Obama a chance. Bill and Hillary are willing to forego Black support as they attack Obama. His thrust was not in their plan.

Kevin in Oklahoma   January 21st, 2008 9:03 pm ET

The truth is optional for Hillary? Hah! Barack Obama is being confronted with his lies, over and over, and he can't dispute them! I think America can really see who is lying here, and it's not Hillary Clinton. She wants answers, and he can't give them.

clc   January 21st, 2008 9:03 pm ET

The truth will set us free. I think this debate is letting us see the truth behind Hilary and her accusations. We cannot stand anymore truth from either the Clinton or the Bush dynasties.

Susan   January 21st, 2008 9:02 pm ET

Wolf is not doing a very good job of moderating. Much prefer a debate moderated by Tim Russet.

michelle   January 21st, 2008 9:02 pm ET

poor obama...get a clue

wow   January 21st, 2008 9:02 pm ET

wolf blitzer has, is, and will always be a horrible debate leader. why don't you people pick someone that can actually facilitate a debate???

and when did hillary call edwards and dangle a cabinet position over his head???

Louise   January 21st, 2008 9:01 pm ET

I was on the fence who to vote for. But Obama is not speaking, expressing himself, and is not qualified to run a country. But then, neither was Bush. Obama does not know the ins and outs how Washington runs. He is bluffing his way through this. We do not need a bluffer foer this job. Obama does not have what it takes. He is like a kid out of kindergarten trying to get in Harvard. . Sorry Obama, but you are not ready. Try again in 4 or eight years.

bob   January 21st, 2008 9:01 pm ET

Why is it Edwards is the only one to come up with a new or realistic plan

Lisa   January 21st, 2008 9:01 pm ET

You know, Barak Obama is nothing but an ORATOR!! He thinks he is MLK...how sad. Hillary is a strong woman and they and all of you continually pick on Hillary because I am sure most of you men, are SCARED of a female president. Well, now you know what it is like for each of us woman....it sucks.!

Jen   January 21st, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Hilary is much more articulate when it comes to debates, Barak sways and moves around not really answering the questions. However, I do believe that Barak is able to move people and inspire much more than Hilary outside of the debate venue.

David Redfern   January 21st, 2008 9:00 pm ET

I have watched the replubican debates and I am currently watching the democratic debate. I enjoyed watching the republican debates as they did not cut each other down and call each other liers! (Well, not as much as the democratic candicates)
Do the democratic candidates think the American public are idiots...why would anyone vote for any of the democratic candidates when they keep saying "he lied/she lied"? What makes them think that the american public would vote for someone that they can't trust? I think all of the democratic candidates just shot each other in the foot!
I would like to see each candiate just anwer the questions in the best way they can without saying; :P resident Bush did not do that", "Obama has never done that", "Hillary is not telling the truth", "John's proposal will not work". Just tell us what YOU would do and let the American public decide who is telling the truth or not!

David Redfern, Lexington, SC

Jacquie   January 21st, 2008 8:59 pm ET

I am so against universal health care. Talk to UK folks and see if it's working for them. Answer is a big NO!

Lavine   January 21st, 2008 8:59 pm ET

I think that all the canidates are showing how desperate they are and they are trying to win SC by "any means necessary". Pot shots need to stop.

Fred   January 21st, 2008 8:59 pm ET

I'm tired of all the bickering. Can we send them all to the corner of the room?!?

Anthony   January 21st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Patrice... a true informed decision??? Are you nuts??? Just vote for the best looking candidate...
Just kidding.

C. O.   January 21st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Obama is not interested in being slimy or "political," and I think that's the main point here. He is not playing a "political game." He honestly is quite refreshing, and I am glad that he is giving right back to Clinton, as she and her husband have been doing all along. He has TRIED to ignore all their meanness and "politicalness," but after a while, you have to call such people out. I congratulate him.

Susan   January 21st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

I could not bear watching Hillary twist the truth to get her way for potentially 8 years.

keith Pike   January 21st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

Yea its being reception from the Obama crowd same as who is doing the booing.

Rick   January 21st, 2008 8:58 pm ET

In her single minded goal of being President, the truth is optional for Hillary. Is and always has been.

Mark- Hoboken, NJ   January 21st, 2008 8:57 pm ET

It's becoming clearer and clearer to the American people that the Clintons are lying, pathetic people desperately trying to salvage the Clinton legacy. Their time has past. Obama is the only one with a shot at beating the Republicans. Hillary will get chewed up, like she is tonight.

Lisa   January 21st, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Everyone is going to get tired of all of the mudslinging comments between Hillary and Obama and more votes will go towards John Edwards. Obama is not answering the questions that he is being asked.

Matt Gurney   January 21st, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Why don"t the candidates offer the American public the same insurance "perks" they receive as "government officials". The Congress should be reflective of the constituents, a certain percent should get NO health care much as the American public. Then something would happen

osahar   January 21st, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Why Edwards, why? My friend from New Zealand just said that it is either a woman, Black man or simpleton that will win the nomination. As of today, Edwards has proven himself not relevant to the election. He is taking jabs at his opponents without valid reason.

Laura   January 21st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Hilary may be telling the truth. Who knows in politics! However, she comes across as calculating, deceptive and like a dirty politician. She does not come across as sincere and trustworthy.

j.l.   January 21st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

We need to get AWAY from Bush/Clinton era!!

Go OBAMA

Tamika Jackson   January 21st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

For twenty-five years her husband cheated on her while she stood silently by. If she cannot manage her own house, how is she going to manage the White House? She may think she is owed the presidency for keeping silent but the only person that owes her anything is Bill Clinton. The American public doesn't owe Hillary Clinton anything!!

michelle   January 21st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

can obama answer a quesiton or stay on topic. was he ready for tonight?????

Grant   January 21st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Obama is not attacking Hillary as much as he is defending himself from Clinton. I just wanted to get that out of the way.

Dee   January 21st, 2008 8:55 pm ET

Hillary seems to an opinion for each side of an argument. Bill needs to realize that he is not running for president and take a back seat. he only diminishes himself with every confrontation.

Jack Hammerstrom   January 21st, 2008 8:55 pm ET

No discussion on fund raising ethics. A good question for Sen. Clinton is if she will sell the Lincoln bedroom similar to her husbands administration. They raised huge amounts by selling access the White House.

James Brown ( Independent )   January 21st, 2008 8:55 pm ET

You notice everytime Clinton is about to get her covers pulled , she reaches for the water glass.

Lincoln   January 21st, 2008 8:55 pm ET

Hillary's voting record in the Senate shows a large number of NV (no votes)....versus Y or N. It would be interesting to see the statistics on all three candidates voting records given the lambasting both Clinton and Edwards gave Obama on this point.

robbie   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

That is exactly what's been happening with hillary forever. there is documentation that (though hillary clinton fought hard for healthcare for americans in the 90's) she failed to get that bill passed. so what did she do? she stopped fighting for hralthcare for americans. she gave up. and after the bill was failed, there is documentation that she was being paid off by healthcare companies and that she has been on the payroll of special interests and major healthcare corporations ever since.

i don't know about my fellow americans, but i don't want a president who gives up so easily and sells themselves to the special interests groups. in my book, that makes hillary clinton a lobbyist!

Obama '08

Jacquie   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

Hillary is an eloquent speaker but when you really listen to her she says "NOTHING" true.

Obama should keep his calm and not let Clinton get under his skin... You gotta be tough.

Susan   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

As an Obama supporter I've always said if Hillary got the nomination I would support the nominee. After tonight, I will never support her.
I will opt out of the election rather than cast of vote for the "clintons." I supported the policies for 8 years but she will NEVER get my vote no matter who runs against her.

Wayne   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

I totally agree Jason. Clinton and Edwards are looking real bad.

Jen   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

YAY Edwards! I do like him. Good question to Barak.

David Erickson   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

The back and forth childish bickering between Obama and Clinton is shameful. Edwards said it right - the bickering does nothing to solve the very serious problems facing our nation today. Wolf is too weak as a moderator.

Cut the crap and get down to the issues. You are allowing the candidates to turn off the electorate.

magda   January 21st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

obama can't take the heat of a simple debate

imagine what other nations would do to him

cindy   January 21st, 2008 8:53 pm ET

Obama is manipulating and monopolizing the debate...Hats off to Hillary for craftily defending her positions after his personalized attacks..John Edwards is in charge, however!!!

Val   January 21st, 2008 8:53 pm ET

I don't see how that answered the question in relation to Black women. I want her to get specific. However, Obama does need to answer the questions better.

Jay   January 21st, 2008 8:53 pm ET

Obama found his passion but now he's just coming off as cocky. "Smarmy" isn't his strong suit.

Nuno Gouveia   January 21st, 2008 8:53 pm ET

That´s the question. The Clintons are lying the american people. Their dirty tricks are the real reason for the victories in New Hampshire and Nevada.

A Rich   January 21st, 2008 8:52 pm ET

She is throwing my boy off with her twisted facts! Her and Edwards little tag team seems to be getting to him!! Nooo!!

Get it together Barack!

Mike   January 21st, 2008 8:52 pm ET

david, get a grip

liberatedspeak   January 21st, 2008 8:52 pm ET

This crowd has no credibility. They're responding to comments that don't warrant a response. This sounds more similar to a freestyle rap battle than a presidential debate.

patrice   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

i think barack is accusing hillary of the same thing he is guilty of....twisting words. debate fairly so the people can make a TRUE informed decision.

Jason   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

It sounds like Edwards and Clinton are having a hard time finding problems with Obama and seem to be staying with weak arguments about a few votes. That appear to just make them look stupid rather than hurt obama.

Wayne   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Obama handled that attack from both Hillary and Edwards superbly. Once again these two are scrapping to attack Obama who is clearly the better canidate against the republicans. Keep holding your own Obama!!!

Jen   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

I think Barak is spending too much time attacking Clinton and less on answering questions about what HE would DO, what HIS position is...

boynla, LA, CA   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

obama is a baby. he can dish it out, but can't take it. why do obamaites think it's ok for him to hit her, but not the reverse? when she does it, it's dirty clintonian politics. grow up.

Nt   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

It is clear that Hillary misrepresented the "reagan" quote and Obama is right to respond. In the mean time, Edwards is benefiting.

Mike   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Obama is acting very shaky. edwards seems to be the only candidate on message. politics is very messy and you have to have thick skin. Obama is pretty thin right now.

JB Hull, IA   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Edwards always keeps it focused on the people he's fighting for and the specific changes he wants to see... even earlier in the campaign, when he would "go negative" more often, he would do so in order to point at very specific aspects of the Clinton machine (such as lobbyist money) that would get in the way of real change... he is the most focuesd, dedicated candidate in the field and the only one who could get real change in this country.... Obama is too full of rhetoric without substance, and clinton is full of corruption, deception and pettiness

Nate   January 21st, 2008 8:51 pm ET

Well... is he wrong?

Wanda Gardner   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

The untruthful one and the most evasive one is Obama!!! He simply needs to be a evangelical preacher!

Rebecca Kamen   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Barack Obama is stating the truth about Hillary Clinton's distortions and I hope and pray America is listening. The Clintons have adopted a win at all costs campaign of incessant lying, underhanded, dirty politics of mud-slinging and character assassination by their surrogates and have dumbed down the system to an all time low. America deserves better. We do not need a repeat of the Clinton years. America, please wake up! There ARE good candidates running in BOTH parties that do not resort to the the dirt the Clintons are showering our country with.

TA   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Hillary is taking Obama's statements out of context, as anyone who has watched Obama's interview about the Republican ideas, twisting his words, and mischaracterizing. It is obvious to any objective observer. But that is the Clinton modus operandi.

David Adkins   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Hillary has never been truthful, her husband wasn't why should she?

Raymond   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

All this nasty bickering. How the heck are any of these going to pair up to make a strong ticket?

sharon in maine   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

John does not want to do the vice thing again – I really wonder what the pundits will have to say after this.

Chris, Orlando FL   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Tomorrow's headline: "Barack Takes a Beating"

Obama is HORRIBLE at explaining things. He's stuttering and I think would just as soon leave the stage than answer any more questions about his record.

Courtney Singleton   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

This debate is ridculous, get Clinton off and let OBama and Edwards have a debate!

Anthony Koch   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

It is important for Obama to stand up for himself, because if he does not, its the same as admitting he did something wrong.

Ray   January 21st, 2008 8:50 pm ET

Obama still is not answering the questions. NEVER HAS!

Siobhan   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

It will be interesting to see how the press edits this debate in nightly newscasts because all sides have looked bad, childish and smart at different times

Jason   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

This is getting ridiculus. They are presidential candidates and should not be going at each other like this. It;s not solving any issues and we aren't learning anything about them.

Sentient in Canada   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Obama's talking (as usual) out of both sides of his head.

Does this man ever actually take a position (that he sticks to) on serious matters?
Or is it all just "change" rhetoric?

He's making Edwards look good.

Gerry   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

I agree with Brian. When I voted for Bill for President, I didn't know that it WAS actually Hillary running the country. Since when does being first lady mean that you are experienced to be President.

Cosette   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Hillary will absolutely positively lose in the general election. The Republicans will crush her. Please, fellow Democrats, wake up! She & Bill had their glory days in the 90s but their time is up. None of us wants another Republican regime but if Hillary gets the nod, we are doomed!

T   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

This is terrible by both Obama and Clinton. Edwards is coming out look good right now. People get tired of this stuff. Hardcore supporters love this but middle of the road voters dislike this stuff.

Scott Treadwell   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

I recall Edward's missing a lot of votes in the U.S. Senate.

Cecile   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Edward and Clinton are putting Obama on fire and he get trapped in it...

Mary   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Can you believe that Edwards is supporting Clinton confronting Obama! FINALLY. Go Edwards.

PK   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Interesting twist – Edwards pushing back at Obama, on missing votes. Edwards usually aligns with Obama, now is tacitly doubling teaming with with Hilary.

Jay   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

This Yes, No, Present, debate is useless – and John Edwards is again coming up the middle, and kicking them both on the way. Very surprising turn of events.

david crockett   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

The current dabate (tonight at SC) is totally out of control. Wolf should take control back and make the candidates accountable. How dissapointing it has turned out to be.

Marty   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Does anyone know the ethnic makeup of the attendees at the debate?

Brian P.   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Hillary is corrupt. All women who vote for her based on the fact she is female is really not smart. You should really do your own research.. go to youtube and check out who you are voting for. Corruption is breaking America apart. Clinton will only add to that break.

Aaron   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Obama is really swinging hard, but he's not getting a chance to talk about policy for having to defend himself. That's going to hurt him.

M B   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Notice the running 'theme' here? Obama sidesteps the question and goes on the attack again and again.

Ray   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Obama is not answering the questions and then blames Hillary?

Robert in Albuquerque   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

A vote of "Present" is NOT a vote, it's a childish way to stay out of the line of fire. Chicken!!!

Jason WI   January 21st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Obama's explanations seem pretty decent to me – I'd trust him over hilary

Eric   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Edwards is right on voting even if it was politically bad for him, atleast he and Hillary chose to vote on issues, while Obama was typically always either absent or just present.

James Brown ( Independent )   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

LOL..........Clinton is way out of her League tonight , Obama is making her look like a little kid.

Katherine   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Hillary just got completely exposed, she claimed to be quoting him with the word "like" and then it became clear that that was not accurate. Go Obama!

Dan   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

The whole Regan thing - is stupid – he was just saying Regan was a good politician.

Ray   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

She explained all Obama's "Lies" and "Twist" that he said Hillary has said.

matthew   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

OBAMA IS A CRY BABY!

stop being so sensitive

Natasha R   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

... and yet we cannot get a clear answer out of him? That is crap! GO HILLARY!

Carl   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

It's about time Barack set the facts straight. Hillary is a political machine and knows how to work the system and manipulate people. Granted, this happens with all politicians, I just wish she would give it a rest.

Jackie   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Aaron - YOu are right on!!!

He is still not answering why is just said present - come on Obama

Barbara   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

It's beginning to sound to me like the Clintons now have Edwards in their corner. A promise to be VP??????

Mike   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

I agree, Hilary isn't truthful.

mrtrate   January 21st, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Finally Bill – you said something impartial....

Kenny   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Clinton has been mischarachterizing Obama of late and it is time he calls her hand....not in the press...but in the cfourt of public opinion.

Harold Reynolds   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

She is just reading the papers that quotes what he says.

BlueOkie   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

She isn't twisting anything...Obama has so far tonight denied anything and everything that he's said. It seems like he's just walking around giving the world the silent treatment.

wow   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Is anyone seeing how nasty, grimy, and evil Hillary is acting during this debate? Her demeanor is disgusting.

dan   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Sounds like Edwards wants to be Clinton's running mate...

Milo Hou   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Hi mrs. deese

I think they should put podiums farther away, edwards' finger is 1 foot away from obamas face

Ahu Ozyurt   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Obama finally takes off the gloves and shows he can respond. Looks like this is his "finally some passion" moment.

Eric   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

I'm getting so sick and tired of this bickering, Obama needs to stay on track, Hillary needs to ignore his attacks and concentrate on the issue and Edwards needs more camera time.

LJ   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

I am a huge fan of Hillary, but I can't watch this.

Katie   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Both Hillary and Barack are going after each other's records and truthfulness. Quite honestly, I think both could be legitimately challenged. This mudslinging is ridiculous and just alienates voters. When will politicians ever learn this?

Jackie   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Obama is NOT answering the questions!!!

Go John!!

Brian   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

A vote of present is more than hillary was doing as first lady. First lady is not an internship.

Siobhan   January 21st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

A Clinton having an issue with truthfulness? That is shocking.

Robert OH   January 21st, 2008 8:46 pm ET

He never takes responsiblity for what he says!

Debby   January 21st, 2008 8:46 pm ET

Hilary's doing it again.

Aron   January 21st, 2008 8:46 pm ET

But Hillary is landing blow after blow, and Barack is not really answering them well.
