Huck has Chuck and now Mac has Sly.
Huck has Chuck and now Mac has Sly.

(CNN) — Earlier this week, martial arts star Chuck Norris questioned John McCain's ability to serve as president, because of the Arizona senator's age — at 72, he'd be the oldest first-term president in American history.

At Thursday night's debate, McCain had a response for the action star, who has endorsed Republican rival Mike Huckabee:

"Now that Sylvestor Stallone has endorsed me, I'm sending him over to take care of Chuck Norris right away."

I liked seeing that McCain does have a sense of humor, and knows that Stalone would win!

The only individuals that I consider, as an independent voter seasoned, battle tested and ready to lead us through this mess left by the bush /cheney/rove/wolfowitz gang are Sen.McCain and Sen.Clinton.The conundrum being they are on different sides . What we don't need at this point ,is a theocracy , or a political lightweight bankrolled by a billionairess.

arnold would trump them all, he will be mitt's vp and IS a cyberkinetic machine. All these years he's been using his knowledge from the future to help mitt make his millions. Now, there's a plot for T4 - a week after mitt sworn in as potas, he vanished. After a couple months of fruitless search, and strong arming the congress, arnold was sworn in. And then the suprise…..

I agree with everyine that Norris would beat Stallone. BUT… if the rules were only boxing, I think Stallone would stand a chance.

Samual Adams   January 25th, 2008 11:15 pm ET

I cant believe rambo endorsed McCain, I was hoping Rambo would endorse Hillary Clinton. Oh well Clinton McCain whats the difference they both agree on amnesty for illegals and free trade-outsourcing. I guess i will just flip a coin to decide on which one to vote for.

JKW   January 25th, 2008 10:28 pm ET

McCain loses to Mitt Romney or Rudy Guiliani for Republican nominee in November of '08. John McCain asks Hillary Clinton to be her VP on Democratic ticket.

Bob   January 25th, 2008 9:40 pm ET

I guess the logical next step after Huck/Norris and McCain/Rambo is Mitt & Gover-nator Arnold! Anyone know who could stump for Rudy?

Hey Steve, ATL:

You're an idiot.

There, how's that. Does that mean you're an idiot?

No.

But Everyone thinks you are!

Ron Paul is no idiot.
He is a physician.
He is a 10 term congressman.
He is an economist.
He is detail oriented.
He is like the writers of our constitution.
He is a hell of alot smarter than you ever thought you were.
He is above making comments like "he is an idot".

Steve, what have you ever done homie???

Lisa Lee, Dallas, TX   January 25th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Eric in MD– grow up.
Putting quotation marks around something like "smarts" was to intentionally highlight its use as a different word than the norm. If that's the best retort you can come up with, I'm sorry for you.
So you think Stallone's "wealth & accomplishments" (used quotation marks to indicate repeating your exact words here, just in case you didn't understand) make his endorsement meaningful? You have to be kidding. Just having money & making movies doesn't mean you're any smarter ("more intelligent" if you so choose) than someone else. I can name a boatload of "celebrities" who have money & accomplishments and don't have a lick of sense.
I'll put my intelligence up against yours any day of the week, hon. Bring it on! Or does an intelligent, educated, aggressive woman scare you??????? :-)

BabyMagic   January 25th, 2008 1:55 pm ET

Good line Mr. McCain. I actually got a chuckle out of it.

As for the reason behind not seeing a "blow-by-blow" of the Republican debates it is because they are BORING! Softball questions, no real answers to speak of, and the same old middle-aged (or older) white guys standing around waiting to be President. It seems to me the Repubs are just sitting back waiting to see who the Dem nominee is because they believe that no matter who it is, they will get the voters who are voting AGAINST Clinton or Obama since the Dems are so divided and are constantly stating that if Obama/Clinton wins I'm voting Republican. Don't feed into the same old, same old; vote out the Republicans and vote Democrat no matter who the candidate is. I fell into the trap myself and stated that if Obama was the Dem nominee I would vote Republican. I realize how stupid I was being and know that is not what is good for this country. I am a Clinton supporter but would vote for any Democrat over any Republican not matter who the nominee is. I truly believe it would be the best thing for the country and I hope that others gain their senses and realize it too.

PS - This doens't mean I won't take some jabs at Obama or Edwards, or even Clinton, if I see something that bugs me. It just means I believe a Democrat is the best candidate for President.

History lesson   January 25th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

McCain presidency is doomed, the moment he said he would keep our troops in Iraq for 100 years.

If people think that a lull in the deaths of the US service men and women because of the surge is permanent, are making a grave mistake. People in the middle east dont forget, and although "laying low" for a while, they won't stay there long. I have read the history of the middle east, even from the times of the crusades, they may have lost at times, but they have never stopped fighting back. We have miss-judged the Iraqis because of the desert storm campaign.

The crusaders found that out, the Brits found that out, and McCain will find that out.

If there was something to win in Iraq, I'd be there myself, there is nothing there to WIN. So I will swallow my pride and say: BRING OUR TROOPS HOME.

Yes, he's to old not only for the job as President but also the Senate, there should be a term limit to all elected officials in Washington, most of them think they own the government and they can simplity do as they please without having to answer to the people that elected them. If there was a law that would send them to prison for taking bribes and kickbacks from cooperate America none of them would want to serve in congress

AJ, IL   January 25th, 2008 10:56 am ET

Don't fool yourselves. Stallone is endorsing McCain because Stallone has another RAMBO (6 or 7?) movie coming out soon. If some of you may recall, in the RAMBO movies, RAMBO saved guys like McCain from Vietnam prison camps and took on the Soviets.

Also remember that Stallone is a former porn actor who became Hollywood icon by playing tough guys like RAMBO and ROCKY while taking steroids. Norris was a former military guy who actually practiced martial arts and won tournaments and then become a Hollywood actor playing nearly all tough guy parts, like MISSING IN ACTION and DELTA FORCE.

Jr., California   January 25th, 2008 10:55 am ET

McCain's military experience alone will not win over the hearts of most Americans. He is clueless about the economy, and his stance on illegal immigration is vague. I am also a bit concerned about his mental stability because of his POW experience.

But, if it comes down to McCain vs. Hillary/Bill, being a democrat, I will cast my support for McCain simply to break the Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton cycle. I myself, want new blood in the White House. Its really as simple as that.

Norris and Stone, Plus Reagan, George Murphy, Sonny Bono, Fred Thompson, Gopher from Love Boat, Arnold Schwartzenegger, Charlton Heston, and on and on.

The Republicans are always claiming that the other party is under the thrall of Hollywood, but it is actually the Republican Party that has always opted to put those who pretend for a living into exalted positions in their own party.

Isn't it about time that the media took stock of that reality, instead of allowing the Republican Party to get away with their Hollywood Fairy Tales!

Gerry, Tucson, AZ   January 25th, 2008 10:18 am ET

Would you people wake up!!! I've had to deal with McCain for years in Arizona, and he is not the man for the presidency, let alone for Arizona. He needs to retire and leave the running of the country (one large business) to the only capable businessman running. Mitt Romney

Chuck to Stallone   January 25th, 2008 10:06 am ET

Now there is two people that I want endorsing the supposed future presidents possibles of this country. Both of these men are men of violence. Chuck Norris who ate his own Grandma, and has facts written about him being the worlds toughest man. Stallone and the new Rambo, hey lets fix all our problems with a bow and arrow, just kill everyone and live in a bloodfield. I'm glad to know our future is safe with Chuck and Stallone backing these republican politicians. Frankly, I endorse Romney, can I get in on the fighting too?

Smart American's do not want "more of the same" and that is what someone would get with any GOP except Ron Paul who is the smartest out of the bunch. signed Common Sense

McCain is the worst possible option!   January 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

How could ANYONE back McCain, the man who has been THE problem with Washington for nearly as long as I have been alive? How could anyone support a man whose first three major attempts (all with his name on the bills) dealing with immigration failed to set aside even one dollar for border control. McCain has had the chance to fix the border, the border with his own state, for over a decade. Now clueless, uneducated know-nothings want to give four more years? I have yet to meet a McCain backer in the flesh (I cannot fault them as I can’t imagine who would ever want to admit that) but I can hardly wait to find out how they could possibly defend such a long history of wasting our nation’s time and money.

McCain is the part of Washington that is broken. We must fix it.

I have researched every candidate and clearly Mike Huckabee is the answer.

Go Huckabee!

Truer Democrat   January 25th, 2008 9:57 am ET

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   January 25th, 2008 9:56 am ET

The problem with things like this is that people don't know where the celebraties are coming from and don't bother to look at the candidate that they endorse. You need to look at the candidate rather than those that endorse them. If you look at the endorsements, see what they have to say and why. I would rather take the time to review endorsements of the candidates' fellow members of Congress and newspapers because there is more careful thought (usually) behind what they say and a record to look at. All a celebraty has is a bunch of movies and shows that don't speak to the person's real opinions.

To Ian: Ron Paul isn't going to win. His supporters may give him money, but they fail to do the most important thing often –VOTE! If they don't actually go to the polls and vote, then there is no way he is going anywhere.

Karen: if you were looking for a conservative like Reagan, then you won't find one. George W. Bush broke the alliance that Reagan built. There were so many ways that it was broken (and by the Republican Congress too). My suggestions is that you might want to look at a third party or a Democrat to see who you could settle with since the Republicans aren't the conservatives you are looking for.

Lisa Lee ,

Anyone that opts to write "smarts" has no business making references to a person's intelligence. I would wager to say that a man of Stallone's wealth and accomplishments could outwit any number of the liberal wackos you most likely place on your short list of celebrity endorsements. By the way, Stallone is exercising what is called Freedom of Speech, which can be found in the Bill of Rights under Amendment I. I would suggest you start reading up on it, then maybe you would understand what the Democrats are attempting to dismantle.

Moe,NY

If you would get off the communist blogs and watch the liberal media, even they are forced to admit that the war in Iraq is being won. And don't bother repeating the Democrat mantra "We support the troops, but not the war". As an Iraq War vet, I can tell you that the vets don't buy that load of garbage.

Pokerface   January 25th, 2008 9:13 am ET

Why on earth would anyone vote for any one of these bozo's….oh sorry Bozo..didn't mean to disrespect you……

Pokerface   January 25th, 2008 9:12 am ET

Andy   January 25th, 2008 9:08 am ET

Gee, I thought the invisible cloud being ran things. So whats all this talk about?

Ben J   January 25th, 2008 8:47 am ET

McCain’s sense of humor can’t stop me laughing.
For the first time since the 08 Presidential getting nasty and nasty, we have funny thing like this. I love you Mr McCain, but you can’t have my vote since I fell in love with Donkey party for years.
By the way, Chuck is pretty older than Sly, but Chuck really is a martial arts star, Sly is not. So Chuck can knock Sly down in the first … term.

Mike, Ohio   January 25th, 2008 8:37 am ET

How is this news?

Patty Atlanta GA   January 25th, 2008 8:33 am ET

great now we have steroid junkies having a say. Jesus save us!

Me   January 25th, 2008 8:28 am ET

I think it is pretty sad getting actors involved with endorsements. Chuck would take out Sly pretty quickly though. So does Chuck's comment mean that they also endorse age discrimination? Interesting.

Harrison Ford for president!!!!!!

Henry Miller, Cary, NC   January 25th, 2008 8:22 am ET

It's funny McCain and Huckabee have chosen for their celebrity face-men a couple of guys known for their representations of violence. I guess, considering the fear-mongering most of the Republicans do, that's very appropriate.

Ron Paul '08!

Kevin   January 25th, 2008 8:20 am ET

Isn this story getting a little old. PLEASE stop talking about this ..

Carson, Washington DC   January 25th, 2008 8:17 am ET

…is this really what it has come to with the republican party…
who's 1980's action star could beat up who's…
come on guys, really..

Bruce, San Diego   January 25th, 2008 8:14 am ET

To dilmont. Ok the one of many emasculated Air Head liberal Clinton drones managed to get a cheap shot in. This one is for you dilmont, if you knew anything at all, you would know that John Mc Cain has a fantastic sense of humor. Yes Clinton and Obama are funny also, because they are both JOKES

Walt, Belton, TX   January 25th, 2008 8:10 am ET

John,
You might have tried to get someone who could speak English and had some sort of credibility.

Sue, Michigan   January 25th, 2008 8:08 am ET

Careful, warming up, Romney was the savior of the Olympics with a LOT of federal money involved. Last time I checked, there was no federal money to play with unless you were a Republican who supported war (or a "fiscally conservative" Republican who supported giving Chinese money to their wealthy friends in the form of tax cuts.)

D   January 25th, 2008 7:42 am ET

How can McCain justify spending 11 billion a month on this WAR with our ECONOMY in NOSEDIVE … ! SAME OLE SAME OLE…. SPEND HAPPY REPUBLICAN ….
All they want to do is SPEND and BORROW from China … WE ARE TIRED OF IT MCCAIN ….
Will RAMBO LOAN you money ???

Pete   January 25th, 2008 7:28 am ET

Why McCain, because you are a democrat? Let's be honest the people on this board for McCain are either dems or lobbyist that want a washington insider.

Renaisauce   January 25th, 2008 7:28 am ET

I think Rambo and McCain are a perfect pairing. Both great heroes in their time, both fought overseas, both are waaaaaay past their prime. I wonder if Hulk Hogan has endorsed anyone yet.

Henry   January 25th, 2008 7:24 am ET

I certainly wish more people would start paying attention to Ron Paul. The rest of these clowns need to go.

Judy   January 25th, 2008 7:12 am ET

Remember the war hero Bob Dole, Purple Heart WWII vet back in 1996?
The Dems and the media loved Dole in congress just like the dems like McCain in congress. However being liked by Kennedy and Feingold in congress and a war vet will not win against the Clintons or Obama/Oprah.

The Florida primary is Republican-only. That's a roadblock for McCain. McCain won in NH and SC because of liberal independents.

Romney is winning the Republican base. If anyone undecided will listen with an open mind to Mitt speak, it will only take a few minutes to see that he is brilliant. Romney is a moderate conservative across the board. He is smart on the economy, opposes amnesty, is pro-family, and is intelligent enough to handle the war and not quickly leave after we have won.

K. Lee   January 25th, 2008 7:11 am ET

Rambo McCain vs Chuck and Huck…… I am now taking bets!!!!

AJ - Montpelier   January 25th, 2008 6:59 am ET

Norris and Stallone - Now there are two of the nations most intelligent human beings…

Warming up to Mitt   January 25th, 2008 6:56 am ET

I am warming up to Mitt Romney, economy Romney he has Olympic expereience bringing the world together.

McCain is too extreme.

Ed,Ellenville,New York   January 25th, 2008 6:48 am ET

I don't think Bill Schneider really wants to slow down to republican speed.

Economy Romney   January 25th, 2008 6:45 am ET

Economy Romney is all about Jobs Jobs Jobs and he has the right balance and he has the Olympic experience of bringing the world together.

McCain bringing out Sly Stone the Rambo shows where McCains head is at its war war war.

John Rambo   January 25th, 2008 5:59 am ET

There is too much of a game show going on right now among democrats that will not, and has not already insured the next president will indeed be a democrat. Don't worry about McCain. Just another contestant who will be forced off of this stage without "parting" gifts. The one factor most others have overlooked against Hillary's chances, not many people want to ever see Bill Clinton in office again. But the way things appear to be shaping up, it's all in her favor.

Cynthia   January 25th, 2008 5:39 am ET

Well I really thought i was a bona-fide democrat but when Wall Street and President Bush himself said that it would be a good thing to use our income tax return to stimulate the economy, well dang somebody really has come up with a
wonderful start to keeping us all out of a recession, applause,,,, applause. I wonder if they all are going to join us in this???

don   January 25th, 2008 4:07 am ET

You should send your Mom instead, John. She'd wipe the floor with Norris.

Not a Fan of Stallone   January 25th, 2008 3:20 am ET

Sylvester Stallone can't even speak properly. He sounds like he is DUMB. He's also too old to be playing ROCKY and I think he endorsed McCain at this particular time to give publicity to his movie.

sadeyes1950   January 25th, 2008 3:18 am ET

P>S McCain get your mother, Sly and Chuckie and have a slug fest, my money is on the momma.I will be so HAPPy to see the end of the Bush administration, and the Repulsive Republicans for 8 years!:))

A.K.   January 25th, 2008 3:17 am ET

Does anybody remember McCain last year in the following:

Illegal Aliens do the jobs Americans won't do. McCain said he would pay $50 an hour to anyone who would come to his ranch and work the fields the way the Illegal Aliens do.

Remember "JOBS AMERICANS WON'T DO?"

HE'S NOT TALKING ABOUT ILLEGALS BUT HE STILL WANTS TO DO IT. IF HE IS ELECTED, HE WILL WORK WITH KENNEDY AND THE REST OF THE CROWD TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. REMEMBER LINDSEY GRAHAM ALSO SUPPORTED THE AMNESTY BILL, FOLKS.

CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE PUT McCAIN ON THE SPOT AND MAKE HIM TAKE A STAND ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION? THE AMERICAN PEOPLE DESERVE TO KNOW JUST WHERE THAT MAN STANDS.

I THOUGHT MITT ROMNEY WAS GOING TO DO IT BUT HE IS NOT TAKING THE FIGHT TO McCAIN. AND FRED THOMPSON IS ONLY INTERESTED IN THUMPING HUCKABEE BECAUSE McCAIN IS HIS FRIEND.

Ian, Eastham MA   January 25th, 2008 3:11 am ET

Karen - There were 5 people on that stage tonight. Search for "Ron Paul" on youtube.

Voted against Iraq War
Voted against the PATRIOT act
Never voted for a tax increase
Never voted for an unbalanced budget

Sponsored a bill to make social security income tax exempt
Sponsored a bill to make tips tax exempt
Sponsored a bill to make college tuition and expenses tax deductible

Sound good yet?

sadeyes1950   January 25th, 2008 3:10 am ET

They looked like a bunch of the typical GOP JUNK, don't they get it, we are SICK of all the BUSH tactics and WAR and crap, They do not have to worry about Hillary beating them , they all are BEATING THEMSELVES, Keep running the republican mouth and all that it implies, and your screwed! BUT I have a good idea, after the dust settles you all can meet Bush & Connie and the Gang and have a powwow and and talk about old times..

sadeyes1950   January 25th, 2008 3:01 am ET

it wasn't funny the first time Mcain, give it up old man!

Matt   January 25th, 2008 2:45 am ET

Chuck should check his watch and birth certificate since he is only 4 years younger than McCain.

Mark, Tampa, FL   January 25th, 2008 2:42 am ET

Mitt Romney cleaned house by all accounts in this BIG DEBATE. Every analyst agreed. He knows the economy cold. It's in his DNA. He's a tax-cutter. He's brilliant, he's visionary and an ethical family man.

McCain looked tired and old, and he's a downright bad debater. He also lied about his former quote that he "doesn't really know the economy very well." His campaign has already apologized for his "misstatement". A little "straight-talk" detour I guess. McCain's decision to vote against the Bush tax cuts multiple times, fight pro-lifers in court and write the amnesty bill with Ted Kennedy earned him the unenviable position of being endorsed today by the New York Times. Ouch. This guy is the biggest RINO of all time.

Giuliani is irrelevant, obviously.

Romney has my vote in Tampa. Romney will carry Florida and ride that momentum into the general election.

Go Romney in '08!

Moe, NY   January 25th, 2008 2:25 am ET

No more republicans in the White House….America is hurting due to republican leadership (or lack of)…please people DO NOT FORGET WHAT THE GOP HAS DONE TO AMERICA. McCain is just another war monger who will draw out this illegal war even longer trying to prove he is right, that we can win…SICK! I beleive most Americans know by now that Iraq is a no win situation.

Lisa Lee   January 25th, 2008 2:21 am ET

I'm just curious as to why Chuck Norris or Sly Stallone either one think their endorsement of anybody should be taken seriously? That goes for most celebrity endorsements.
I can only think of maybe 2 or 3 "celebrities" total who exhibit enough "smarts" and knowledge of the issues for their endorsements to carry any weight at all.

Sam, Chicago, IL   January 25th, 2008 2:07 am ET

I heard Stallone talking politics on the radio and I was shocked by his conservative view points. I guess he's killed enough people on screen to be pro war in real life.

Tcbold   January 25th, 2008 2:07 am ET

I think they are all friends having a great time.
I will take a old seasoned and experienced guy every time!

keith Pike   January 25th, 2008 2:03 am ET

we the people   January 25th, 2008 2:00 am ET

Dont quit your day job John. Oh wait—–you'll keep it…no way you win the whitehouse ;) Especially after your "Barbara Anne" rendition referring to the bombing of another country - namely Iran. Bomb-Bomb- Bomb-Bomb- Iran isn't the "TUNE" American voters want to sing by John.

stan pitts pa   January 25th, 2008 1:52 am ET

it was a great debate, romney said it best! Americans dont want the clintons back in the white house! they are scared what might happen if someone….u know hooo is left to his own devices, ouch!

Chuck has a valid point in my opinion.

Danny Boy   January 25th, 2008 1:43 am ET

First Chuck, then comes Sly Stallone …. at last Arnold "The Terminator" will come, no doubt ….. and for the democrats the entire "Pulp Fiction gangs" and Oscar winners will come to the rescue, it's nice to see humor for a change.
Politics and acting goes hand in hand.

CNN stop pushing Mccain down our throat please. We know you are trying to make Mccain down our throat. Not gonna happen. He is a warmonger and that will never come out of my mind!

Chris   January 25th, 2008 1:16 am ET

P.S. Norris only 4 years younger than McCain….

Chris   January 25th, 2008 1:15 am ET

Your right Margarita, it would be hard to go after Chuck Norris what with the fact he can't raise his arms from his years being tortured and having his broken arms beaten when he could have easily have taken the early release as the Vietnamese offered for being a high profile POW…. but hey, you know how to type in all caps so good for you!

jdude   January 25th, 2008 1:15 am ET

what are you 12 year old kids talking about haha. Stallone would deck chuck norris in 2 seconds. oh McCain, I think you won this one haha

Eric   January 25th, 2008 1:13 am ET

Now if Arnold Schwarzanegger would endorse Mitt Romney …

caesar   January 25th, 2008 1:10 am ET

Caption should read,

"I'm going to rewrite the Constitution to make Sly the saviour of the Universessssess…. and yes, we are going to have 8 more years of war in Iraq."

Dan   January 25th, 2008 1:08 am ET

Nice way to stay on the issues warhawk.
I like that name for him, Warhawk, that's catchy.

Bobbobbinsworth   January 25th, 2008 1:07 am ET

Chuck would utter one ringing sound and Sly would fall to the ground, "Stall-OWNED".

In my opinion, Paul won this debate by distancing himself further from the status quo and not playing to the party norm. He knows what a real Republican ideal is and will not back down to try and garner votes by sucking up to the pollsters. He is the only independent thinker, the rest are puppets.

Bob   January 25th, 2008 1:01 am ET

Why is anyone even making a deal of a washed out loser like Chuck Norris anyways?

Steve   January 25th, 2008 12:59 am ET

Stallone better remember this little known fact:

Chuck Norris is the reason why Waldo is hiding…

err… OBAMA '08!!!

Jarratt Willis, Nacogdoches Texas   January 25th, 2008 12:58 am ET

Ted Chang   January 25th, 2008 12:53 am ET

Isn't Stallone one of the most famous draft dodgers? How dare McCain suggest Stallone's opinion matters at all.

Deb   January 25th, 2008 12:52 am ET

I thought it was amusing. So what if he "Sends Sly", can't he have a sense of humor people!! Sheesh!! It is much better than the mud slinging campaign between Obama and Clinton.. GO McCAIN I believe you will bring our economy honor, and protection back. You are LOYAL, honest and honorable. That is what I look for in a leader.

I like John what's-his-name   January 25th, 2008 12:49 am ET

6 losses to 6 year olds is not a record of which Norris should be proud…

Stallone is an admitted (and arrested) steroid freak - he needs to share some with old man what's his name.

Ted Chang   January 25th, 2008 12:48 am ET

Isn't Stallone a draft dodger? McCain just lost any chance at my vote!

Magliovelli, Menlo Park CA   January 25th, 2008 12:47 am ET

McCain should send his mother to take care of Chuck Norris. She looks to be immortal, though not aging well.

Thomas Henson   January 25th, 2008 12:47 am ET

What? What the heck is this crap? This isn't news! This isn't politics either. Chuck Norris vs Sylverstet Stallone? Alien vs Predator? Why don't we have them compete using Batman and Superman? Do me a favor CNN, don't ever print crap like this again; it is an insult to the intelligence of myself and all of the United States.

Nicholas Kent   January 25th, 2008 12:46 am ET

Not only would Chuck Norris roundhouse kick Stallone in the face leaving him for dead but we could also counter the effects of global warming. If harnessed correctly, one Chuck Norris roundhouse kick could power 10 000 homes for one year.

Ted   January 25th, 2008 12:42 am ET

Isn't Stallone a draft dodger?

steve addison - wilmington, nc   January 25th, 2008 12:41 am ET

Not funny, these guys want to play games, let them play with themselves. Huckleberry and McLame are old useless bureacrats who like to do alot of talking … and their records show failed liberal policies.

Tony   January 25th, 2008 12:39 am ET

Stallone…I've loved his movies for years. But his endorsement does NOTHING for me. Why would I have any interest in following Mr. Stallone's political views and preferences? He's a friggin' actor with nothing better to do with his time…it's just a way to find time in the spotlight. He can't possibly be genuinely interested in the real issues facing our nation. Remember…a celebrity's endorsement means NOTHING more than the one vote he or she can cast in the booth, which is exactly the number of votes I can cast. One!

My vote will be for Gov Romney. He's distinguished himself as the clear conservative voice and the right person to strengthen our economy, continue to wage the war against terror and protect our borders, and lead our country. Go Mitt!!

Loyd   January 25th, 2008 12:37 am ET

As long as Iraq War is on, it will be very hard for the economy to recover . Get out of Iraq now!!!

Summary of the debate:

Giuliani: "My platform is simple: it's just the opposite of what the New York Times writes about."

Huckabee: "Chuck Norris supports me."

McCain: "Stalone is on my side."

…these are the people running to hold the highest position of the executive branch of our government.

Are Romney and Paul the only two candidates that care enough to stick to the issues?

Mike in Kentucky   January 25th, 2008 12:23 am ET

OH MY GOD!

I have to tell you…I am a Democrat…and a Hillary Clinton supporter and I am so happy that you are debating the relative facility of the competing martial arts styles of these two Republican gentlemen…surrogates of the candidates.

It makes me even more sure that we will control the government after 2008.

You have not a clue! :-)

everyone seems to get these political ticker blog entries confused with major headlines.

its a BLOG
its supposed to be up to the minute politics
little stories
fun little bytes that wouldnt necessarily make their way onto the front page of CNN OR the front page of the New York Times.

CNN reporters do know what the real issues are- theyre over on the front page for you to find.

lighten up.

Ah, the tag team of Mac and Cheese are finally sending their mouthpieces to attack each other. Priceless.

Is this a junior high skit?

Give me a candidate of substance.

Give me Mitt Romney.

While Mac and Cheese have Chuck Norris and Sylvester Stallone, Mitt Romney has quietly racked up more endorsements from members of the US Congress than any other GOP candidate. See for yourself on Wikipedia.

It's sad to see the old gentleman making a fool of himself. But it's downright scary to hear him rant about how many more people he wants to sacrifice just to satisfy his own militarism.

Roger from MA   January 24th, 2008 11:58 pm ET

How come every post about a Republican candidate has to have the obligatory comments from the Ron Paul brown shirts, complaining that the media isn't paying enough attention to him or them?

The media isn't paying attention to him because he's a racist, paranoid kook, and nobody in the real world takes him and his views seriously! I know that when you surround yourselves with loonies who stockpile weapons and talk about how the Zionists control the governmet, that it's easy to convince yourself that there are millions of people who share your beliefs, but trust me, you're in the minority. I'm not even going to discuss his obsession with the gold standard, despite the fact that dumping it brought America from economic stagnation to unparalleled prosperity.

You guys were wrong about Clinton calling in the UN to patrol our streets, you were wrong when you stockpiled food in your underground shelters in anticipation of the Y2K incident, and you're wrong now — GET OVER IT!

Go McCain!

Derrick   January 24th, 2008 11:52 pm ET

Why were there minute by minute updates from Bill Schneider on the debate of the Democrats in SC, but no similar series of updates for the debate of the Republicans?

Karen   January 24th, 2008 11:47 pm ET

McCain… war good
Giuliani…. Ronald Reagan, 9/11
Huckabee…. pundit and chump
Romney…. I'm prettier than Hillary

I'm still waiting for a candidate. sigh!

Jess   January 24th, 2008 11:46 pm ET

I am pretty sure Chuck Norris would win that fight. At least this debate didn't turn into Jerry Springer.

AJ, Iowa City, IA   January 24th, 2008 11:45 pm ET

It is about time!! Stallone and Norris… How petty these two are!!!!

Ben, California   January 24th, 2008 11:45 pm ET

It's moronic to see the bragging about celebrity endorsements when people ought to be talking about issues and solutions. Why in the world would anyone care what Norris or Stallone have to say or who is older or uglier? McCain has them all beat in age and rage, Romney has them all beat in intelligence, leadership, and debate skills, and Huckabee has them all beat in becoming irrelevant the fastest.

Rambo McCain 4 WAR   January 24th, 2008 11:44 pm ET

Rambo McCain when he gets hold of the nuclear weapons he will wipe out the Middle East.

WAR WAR WAR WAR

Patty, somewhere   January 24th, 2008 11:43 pm ET

Maybe Stallone can lead McCain to where he can find the answer to the question posed to him by Ron Paul. It was totally obvious that McCain didn't have a clue what Ron Paul was talking about shown either by his facial expressions when listening to the question or by his words when answering. That was pitiful ! It made it worse after you just expressed your supreme knowledge about economy affairs after stating weeks ago he needed more education in that area. Well, I guess that statement was correct - he does need a whole lot more educating in relation to the economy. I had to stop from choking on my drink when he first answered about the stimulus package and he was sorry they hadn't made the tax cuts permanent because people who were now planning their 2010 budget would have problems. Try telling that to the thousands who are wondering where next month's rent is going to come from!

Steve, ATL   January 24th, 2008 11:42 pm ET

First of all, what is Ru Paul still doing in the race? The man is an idiot. Secondly, McCain has been stabbing the conservative movement in the back for years. That's why the media love him. He does not deserve the mantle of Reagan. Thirdly, Huckabee is as liberal as John Edwards, but pro-life. It is Mitt or Rudy for me.

maynard   January 24th, 2008 11:40 pm ET

CNN WILL NOT HEADLINE IT< but us supporters will

NEW YORK TIMES ENDORESES SENATOR HILLARY CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT 2008 What the NEW YORK TIMES said about Senator Clinton. "We know that she is capable of both uniting and leading. We saw her going town by town through New York in 2000, including places where Clinton-bashing was a popular sport. She won over skeptical voters and then delivered on her promises and handily won re-election in 2006."

Senator Clinton for President 2008 "WE BELIEVE IN HILLARY CLINTON"

Norris retired from his karate fighting tournaments 65 wins, 6 losses, having avenged all previous losses, and remaning undefeated for approximately 6 years. He holds the Tae Kwon Do rank of 8th Degree Black Belt Grand Master. Stallone is just an actor.

What an inane comment by the old guy…time for his metamucil…

Ruth   January 24th, 2008 11:12 pm ET

I imagine it is hard for the other candidates, who have little of no knowledge of our constitution, to want to debate with a "constituionalist".

Sylvester has taken a few to many hits to the brain matter during his filming of the Rocky movies. Endorsing a candidate that wants to keep our young men dying indefinately fighting an obscure, elusive, world wide enemy? While the whole world laughs at us and our economy dives into a pit?

True Democrat   January 24th, 2008 11:10 pm ET

Clinton's dirty attacks on Obama are disappointing… but this is a truly pathetic debate.

I like how Ron asked a straight forward question about transparency in the FOMC to McCain. I honestly don't think McCain had any idea what he was talking about… He ran into some kind of reboot, name drop, reboot, name drop mode. And he's the front runner?? That's Frightening.
