No Kim, the Clinton's won't sweep the map. I think the old ways of politics ie. Clinton' s and Bush Style feels the ground moving around them. That movement is gaining steem and will really change the way this country governs. The last time this happen was in 1980. If you don't think Reagan made politics different look at the 1984 election map. 49 states. This is somthing that the Clinton's will never be able to do.

ps clinton got a higher percentage of black voters than obama got white voters. doesnt anybody understand the significance of that moving foward?

Pause for a reality check:

Obama got 24% of the white vote.
Clinton got 17% of the black vote.

The "significance of that moving forward" is that Obama won, and won big.

Whoa and truthseeker check your history books and see which party stood in the way of equal right amendments of the 60's.
Dear Americans,

We in Canada think that you really have lost your touch of reality.

We are concerned because you are your Big brother and is important what happens with him.

We still could not understand what do you have against Clintons; you had so good during the 90s. Surplus, no unemployment, international reputation, full pockets. The black people forgot the special attention from Clintons; maybe because of them now you even can have a black man running.

Than , YOU elected Bush /likable guy/; twice! Now - depths, thousand of death young people /for what? /, internationally everybody hates you, lost houses, empty pockets??!! And you are angry- to whom?

What is wrong with you guy?

You are too deep into... and you are drugging us there to.

You do not have the luxury to follow a talker /he is god at it/ who obviously also serves the big money. /I wonder , where he has got $60-70 000 000 to run; who has is?/

The reality is: We still have not hear anything that suggests how Mr.Obama even will approach the problems , forget about achieving them. Why do you expect that miraculously, with nice words everything will be O.K.?

We are very , very concern; 4 more years of uncertainty,? China is not sleeping. They are running forward full steam.

Or maybe is time , unfortunately, American empire to decline!!??

Obama really wiped the floor with Hillary tonight in just about every demographic breakdown, and he defied expectations among the white vote despite a strong showing by Edwards in his home state.

It's now looking like Obama will win a majority of states on Super Tuesday. The main question is whether he'll draw close enough in New York and California (maybe even pull off a win there) to beat Hillary on delegates.

Actually "Captain America" you are wrong as well. More Democrats voted in this primary than Republicans did in theirs. It is more than possible for a Democrat to win SC in the general.

Surely, there is a coupple in this election who would like to win the election by deviding whites vs blacks, blacks vs latino etc. etc. They will do anything to go back to the white house and mess our families again. As a white guy who was for John, am now a full commited O'Bama supporter. Didn't vote for him in SC due to race propaganda, but will now repay by loading contribution in his www and joining his campaign in Georgia.

Though the Clinton campaign and other commentators will attempt to shrug off SC by saying it was "just" because of the black vote, it was important for the Democratic Party that the vote in SC *not* be racially polarized-- that some significant fraction of white voters vote for Obama, and some fraction of black voters for Clinton/Edwards. The exit polls are showing that Obama not only swept the black vote but won at least a quarter of the votes of white Democrats in SC, including a plurality of all young voters.

Like the results in IA, NH and NV bodes well for the Obama campaign moving ahead and the Democratic Party in general-- his share of the vote is not based on any one constituency; rather his campaign appeals across constituencies, including some outside the Democratic Party.

Actually, "whoa", you're wrong. You should check the CNN exit poll numbers... However, beyond all that, what's the benefit of us continuing to divide along racial lines? Aren't we all Americans?

The only candidate the Democrats have that will unite the GOP and bring the Republicans back to life is Hillary. Obama can put all of the red states in play because his appeal is to the greater good. It's not just about him,,,it's about us!

I wouldn't be too sure, Kim. Obama has the most crossover appeal of any Democratic candidate in my memory. I am a pro-life white christian male who really thinks that Obama represents a future for our country that I can believe in. I went into this race preferring the Democrats, and trying to keep an open mind between them, but man, Bill and Hillary have turned me off.

I'm looking for what is best for our whole country, not just the half I sympathize with. I don't think Clinton and Hillary fit that bill. Bush made half the country feel ashamed to call themselves Americans at times. I think Hillary might do the same for more than just Republicans.

whoa and kim are right...this is his lat hoorah...is anyone surprised he won a "black state"? we all knew this was going to be the result tonight...

not only do whites (75%) prefer clinton but so do hispanic (2 to 1, if not more) voters...that with 15-20% black vote means vicctory for her...plus she won the same number of delegates that he did (that was her strategy)...

A vote for Obama is a Replubican vote, think about it he is not a winable candidate (I have no intentions of voting for him) if he is the only choice Therefor a reblubican will win. But then again SC is irrevelent.

I don't think the religious factor is very important here in the West.

Westerners tend to be better educated and can think more for themselves. That doesn't mean they are liberals, but that they don't need to rely on mysticism to help make up their minds.

Race is not an issue particularly for the voters who are voting between Obama and Hillary and I think the voters understand that, and God forbid Bill Clinton who is been trying to inject race in this race, it is time for Hillary who wants to become chief executive of this country to tell her husband to just tone it down.

The emphasis on race by the media as a major determinant of the outcome of this poll is most unfair to Barak Obama and overlooks the fact that the American people are yearning for change. Change that. Cuts through racial and gender barriers. The American people know what is good for them, and do not need the media feeding them with prejudicial and slanted reporting of this historical moment in American history.

CNN pundits are way off and skewed towards Obama. One of them just said that Obama has more appeal across races when a few minutes before they had reviewed the numbers to reveal that of all Obama's voters, 80% were balcks and only 20% were whites. Then we see Hillary's numbers and find out that 65% of her voters were whites and 34% were blacks. So it seems that Hillary got more blacks then Obama got whites, in a percentage basis.

That goes to show that Hillary is actually more evenly supported by all races. But of course, CNN picks and chooses how to report the numbers.

We will see what happens in Super Tuesday when Hurricane Hillary takes over America.

But in the end, it will be John McCain by a landslide!

what is going on in the studio. even if you hate hillary clinton, there isnt a single person on the set willing to present the results from her perspective... which is not entirely ridiculous. If Obama gets 81 percent of the black vote in the rest of the primaries but only 24 percent of white -- which is not a substantial haul, as the reporters seem to be suggesting -- then he can't win another primary. there isn't a state of any size or significance that comes close to SC in racial profile. a win is a win is a win, but to say this is a bid deal for obama is only to recognize that if he had lost he would have been done. how about some balance on the set!

I am extremely dissappointed with the one-sided pro-Obama reporting that your political team keeps on perpetuating. It is not the Clintons who played the race card, it was Obama himself and then the media gleefully jumped on the bandwagon.
What these exit polls show is that while the so-called white population is ready to vote on issues, the same is not necessarily true for African Americans. Obama is nowhere near as articulate and specific on issues as Hillary. Stop the hit job on the Clintons or you will lose a lot of viewers.

South Carolina in the last two Presidential Elections voted for Bush. Does anyone think that that will change in the next election? SC is a Republican state as is most of the south. Having a Primary in SC is useless for Democrats. More important on the Republican side.

The polls were closed 5 minutes before CNN called Obama the winner. Less than 1% of the vote has been counted.

Why did you wait for Clinton to have 100% of the votes in yet rush to call for Obama with the doors still open and voting still happening? This is not a matter of exit polls, this is a matter of absolute journalistic arrogance.

as an african american male for bill to imply that the main reason blacks will vote for obama is because he is black is an insult. tjhe clinton campaign know exactly what they are doing, basically saying to whites "blacks are for obama so you whites should be with us."

i will laugh daily till my stomach hurts if hillary wins the democratic nomination then loses to a republican in the general election. i for one will vote for a republican if obama is not in the general election.

america will deserve another term of a republican president if it allows hillary to win the nomination after which the democratic party will come crawling back to obama to save it.

why go through all of that when you can elect the best candidate NOW..
