The Gipper Ticker

WASHINGTON (CNN) –In Wednesday’s Republican presidential debate, there was a sense of Ronald Reagan in the air, and it wasn’t just because of Air Force One in the background. Place four Republican candidates on stage in Ronald Reagan’s library, and the former president’s name is bound to come up at least once or twice. In Mitt Romney’s case, he referenced the former president nineteen times.

The Ticker kept track of how many times each candidate mentioned Reagan’s name:

Mike Huckabee: 7

Mitt Romney: 19

John McCain: 8

Ron Paul: 3

THE ONLY THING I'M NOTICING ABOUT THE DEBATE IS NOT EVERYONE IS GETTING A FAIR CHANCE TO SPEAK .THATS UNFAIR .......THERE ARE NO WINNERS YET

What happened to Ron getting to respond to the liberal/conservative debate in 2 minutes/ 2 questions. Never happened. Face the facts. If he was given an opportunity to speak he would out shine the rest of the panel. You will not get a good view of Paul's ideas unless you research it for yourself. Don't let manipulation push you in a direction to vote for someone who isn't the best candidate. Research. Learn about the Federal Reserve… look at what our foreign policy in the past has brought us to today…. or be a sheep and call Paul supporters conspiracy theorists.. that's a cop out for being to lazy to look up the facts for yourself.

Given the eight years of corruption and dishonesty of the Clinton adminstration, how does John McCain justify his own wife's embellizment charges?

We don't need an embellizer in the White House!

Pretty hard for Ron Paul to say Reagan's name when they won't let him talk when they finally do ask him a question.

Hey, did you know that a blind man can place his hand on Reagen's diary and regain his sight?

I am watching the GOP debate, and although I am not a Ron Paul supporter, I am appalled at the obvious snub Mr. Paul is receiving this evening.

I have always turned to CNN as a leader in world issues and news. CNN should be the leader in bringing the candidates to the public and it using its power to educate the public.

I am truly disappointed in CNN and your lack of support in a truly open debate.

This is the saddest debate I have ever seen. These people are hell bent on continuing the failed Bush policies. And did you see these idiots clap when Romney talked about Bush keeping us safe. Tell me again what Iraq had to do with 9/11? Just stupid...

I don't think it will be possible for Ron Paul to Reagan's name becuase they are not letting him speak. Full disclosure.......... I am not a Ron Paul supporter but I think that this is ridiculous as the man is probably the most conservative on the stage.

The reason Reagan's name wasn't mentioned by Ron Paul might be that he hasn't been allowed to speak! In answering the last question he was asked, he was given about three seconds to answer and then interrupted. The reason more people don't want to support him is because the media won't give him the format that is provided to the other candidates to express his plans and viewpoints!

Since they are giving no questions or air time to Ron Paul or Huckabee, how can they mention the Gipper. I am an Independent tuning in to hear all of them, and I've already heard more than enough from Mitt & McCain.

Didn't we just hear Huckabee talk all being equal? I guess that doesn't apply to CNN and equal time for candidates!

ROMNEY NEEDS A FOOT IN THE RUMP

It's obvious that CNN can't count...there are FOUR candidates in the debate, NOT TWO. Let's count how many minutes each candidate is receiving. I simply can't watch something that is so "two-sided."
