Watch Bill Clinton take on a heckler Thursday.

(CNN) – Bill Clinton engaged with a heckler head on Thursday at a Denver campaign stop.

The former president had just begun his speech when a man began to shout about 9/11 conspiracies.

As security attempted to escort him out, Clinton stopped his speech, saying, "What are you screaming about? Let him talk."

"Are you one of those it-was-an-inside-job guys? Let me tell you something…I let you be rude and interrupt me, scream at the top of your lungs. 9/11 was not an inside job; it was an Osama bin Laden job with 19 people from Saudi Arabia," Clinton continued. "They murdered 3000 Americans and others foreigners, including over 200 other Muslims. And we look like idiots, folks, denying that the people who murdered our fellow citizens did it when they are continuing to murder all around the world. So we heard from you: you go away."

After Hillary's planting questions in Iowa, I would not believe anything like this in any Clinton's campaigns. This is most likely a Clinton's insider's job.

Bill doesn't have to speak like a patriot. He just has to act like one.

President Carter 'endorsed' Obama after Bill called him.
You can go figure what Bill had said to him.

Margaret   January 31st, 2008 8:38 pm ET

Kazak ??? Why are Obama's "followers" ingnoring the fact that Obama was given campaign money from a guy who was just arrested last week..and Obama couldn't get away with the lie he told about not being friends with him, because he had to give $80,000 dollars of his illegal campaign money to charity, trying to make the truth go away..and it worked..if Hillary had to do that, you guys would be relentless..
I use the word followers intentionally, because many of you don't know what the word support means..also..Obama prides himself in the fact that a huge number of his followers are young voters..and I imagine it's you young voters who are making huge issues out of insignificant media trash..While Bill was running the country and Hillary was pulling New York out of the 9/11 crisis, most of you weren't even in high school yet...so while your still studying "elections 101" please listen and learn..
Anyone who has the ability to be objective knows that what went on with Bill and Kazak happens to be the way big money, big investers work..Bill Gates and Mr. Buffet are rare in the world of the weathy..atleast the money that was given Bill was used in his charitable foundation to help aids victims, etc. I haven't heard anything about Obama's charity efforts..ohhh wait..he hasn't done any..Don't be foolish enough to believe that Obama isn't courting any big money conglomirates..
OH and by the way,,Kazak was BILLS doings, not his wifes..I bet half of Obama's young followers haven't even gone to Hillary's campaign site or gone to hillary,senate.org and read her record...part of elections 101 is doing your homework..

aa   January 31st, 2008 8:22 pm ET

I think Hillary Clinton will win. The immigrants, the Latinos, Asians, South Asians and those from Arab countries will never vote for Obama. Between her and Obama, the military for sure supports Hillary. So are the various faith groups.

Trust me on this analysis...

I agree with Fred, Reston Va...I will be doing exactly the same and I am a black also..........although I am a registered democrate but I will vote for McCain if Obama get the nomination

Cant believe people are saying it was an Obama supporter either. Get real, people.
I support Obama completely, but that retort made me remember why exactly I like Bill Clinton :) Still not voting for Hillary though ; we cant elect the first woman president just because we want her husband back in the White House, can we?

veronica lynne   January 31st, 2008 6:45 pm ET

GO HILLARY!!!!

ALL Policies help some and hurt some. No president can keep everyone happy.

1I would prefer a scandal full glory days of the 90's

VS

2)Scandal free, "likable" , charming", "values man" term of Bush

I want a president not a preacher. A good "inspirational" speaker cannot make a good president nor a good leader.

in obamas California ad's he talks about "hope and "faith". Even after a year of campaigning I still dont know what his plans are.

Hillary 08.

I'm tired of the Bushes.

I'm tired of long-time Washington insiders running this country like they own it.

We need change.

disgusted   January 31st, 2008 6:34 pm ET

I can't believe people are saying it's an Obama supporter. Actually the heckler sounds like someone who may be into Ron Paul and their Revolution video.
It's not like it's just Obama supporters that can't stand the Clinton's, actually most who are NOT supporters of the Clinton's, cannot stand either Clinton.
Change is not the 90's
Change is not a political dynasty

ukd   January 31st, 2008 6:00 pm ET

no to clinton – I honestly disagree with your opinion. If you had enjoyed the prosperity of 90's under Bill's presidency, you wouldn't be labeling him "notorious".

ABB   January 31st, 2008 6:00 pm ET

"it's a plant!...it's a plant! it's a plant!"........you Clinton haters are just sounding foolish now. It's all been said, nothing new here....except, why are SO many voting for Hillary??....I've got nothing against Obama, I feel he would make a good president...I do have problems with some of his hateful followers, though.

Son   January 31st, 2008 5:58 pm ET

Why would someone from the Obama camp send a 9-11 conspiracy theorist to a Clinton rally with Bill Clinton?
No. Some people are ridiculous. Remember in 2004 when 9/11 conspiracy theorists tried to run ads right before the general election?
Yeah...nothing wrong wanting to believe it was really a conspiracy, but it was OBL all along. It was good for Clinton to call the guy out.

Obama in 08!

quietstorm   January 31st, 2008 5:57 pm ET

Its crazy how democrats cant understand the historic nature of this campaign and that black people with there crab state of mind hate to see a black person make it in life , its that same state of mind that blame the white people for everything and now that you have a black man that is good enough to be president , can unite the country , you want to support someone who doesnt have real expreience except for riding the coat tails of her cheating husband for years. Can you please explain to me what expereince Hillary has over Barack. You people really need to grown up and get a life . I Obama gets the nomination and you vote republican then for the next fours years keep your mouth shut while the country goes further and further in mess. As for me and my house we are voting for the Best person since JFK and thats Obama!

Leonardo   January 31st, 2008 5:56 pm ET

Let us not forget. It was Bill Clinton's impeachment that gave us 8 ruinous years of George W. Bush and Dick Chaney. Triangulate that one.

If Bill vanished, would you still vote for Hillary?

Didn't think so.

Darth Vadik, CA   January 31st, 2008 5:51 pm ET

You will not rattle Slick Willie OK.
So people just get that out of your heads.
That crap that happened a week ago with Obama, it may have backfired but you can be sure that Bubba had planned it out before.

The reason it backfired is because we are Deomcrats, we don't put up with Rovian politics, however, agains Republicans they are golden. If Hillary gets the nomination, I can't wait.

mgleaso3   January 31st, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Sounds more like just a misguided individual who saw a crowd and an opportunity to get some attention for his "cause". I've noticed the Obama campaign hasn't said anything about it.

What they should be saying something about is Bill Clinton's Kazak connection – he was even undermining Hillary with that mess while it was happening. She had signed a letter decrying their leadership role and at the same time ol' Bill is over there practically offering it to them. (And then snagging $31M for his Foundation!) More of that "sleaze factor".

Obama '08

According to all your recent posts going back a few months you look like nothing more than a political Clinton hitman. You never mention anything substantive but just attack. Stop. Enough.

type – "Fred, Reston Va" into google and see for yourself.

President Clinton allowed the man to make a complete idiot of himself. Way to go Mr. Prez

Exactly. This is what I was about to say.

Karma, Hartford CT. January 31, 2008 3:31 pm ET
I love how every time someone says something negative about the Clintons it must be some inside job by an Obama supporter. As if they are the only ones that could possibly dislike them.

Tom in VA   January 31st, 2008 5:38 pm ET

The chances are far greater that this was a Hillary supporter (a plant, if you will) trying to restore some dignity to the Bill, which obviously also helps her. I cannot even imagine why an Obama supporter would do this, there is nothing to be gained.

Brad   January 31st, 2008 5:37 pm ET

I don't see what this has to do with Obama or Hillary. Whack job spoke up and got slapped down. That's something we should all be able to enjoy.

Not bad, but Bill's best line so far came in Missouri after they gave him the Key to the City. With a huge grin on his face, he said...

"I'll try not to open too many unwarranted doors tonight, but I like having a key!"

No to Clinton   January 31st, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Bill Clinton is most notorious democrat on the planet. That is not necessarily a good thing. I going with "it's a plant" theory. KazakGate getting a little stressful Bill?

There seems to be a pattern here. Hillary was heckled in NH by an angry man and she gained the pity of women because of what the heckler said to her. Now Bill is heckled by a man and made to look like a hero because he defended the country....boy this is fun...get a new tactic Clinton camp.... Bill, can you help me get a contact in Eurasia, thanks...of course I'll be happy to donate to your lib and to Hillary's camp.

Here is the thing. I'm an Obama supporter, but i don't think that this was an Obama Supporter. I do agree with Bill on this one issue, and commend him for how it was handled. Whether your for or against a certain candidate Heckling is not the way to show your support.

Ray   January 31st, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Obama nut heads think that because Bill speaks up about OUR country that it is a hit against Obama. GROW UP!!! The guy cant talk? He's not talking about Obama so SHUT UP FREAKS!!!!!

Smelly Tuna   January 31st, 2008 5:07 pm ET

Osama Bin Laden is NOT on the FBI's most wanted list because of 9/11. He is wanted because of the bombings in 93.

I'm not saying it was an inside job, but there ARE many questions that SHOULD be answered.

MIDWEST DIVA   January 31st, 2008 4:45 pm ET

This article was about Bill Clinton taking on a heckler, and the some idiot's bring up Obama, what did he have to do with the article.

ANTI CLINTONS   January 31st, 2008 4:41 pm ET

911 wouldn't have happend if gutless CLinton had got a hold of Osama when he had the chance, what did he do, he let him get away, so yes it was an inside job...by Clinton himself. The Heckler was right, you morons that suck up to the Clintons need to go watch your soaps and shutup!

Obama!

Sometimes I wonder if fighting it is even worth it.

Bill is the best!!! He kicked that heckler's butt!

Mysterious One   January 31st, 2008 4:34 pm ET

These people blaming the Obama campain for the heckler, sound as nutty as the "9/11 was an inside job" heckler himself. Clinton supporters sound desperate when they try to advocate these bizzare conspiracy theories.

By the way, you Clinton supporters may want to read Jo Becker's and Don Van Natta, Jr.'s article in the New York Times entitled "An Ex-President, A Mining Deal & A Big Donor; Huge Kazakh deal follow's Financier's trip with Clinton, Precedes Dontation."

Obama's declaration that "none of our hands are clean" is accurate (there is, of course, the Tony Rezko situation...although there is clearly no proof of wrongdoing on Obama's part...and there is that photo of Bill & Hillary posing with Rezko as well, lol). However, Obama's connection to Rezko doesn't nearly compare with some of the things revealed in this article about Bill Clinton.

We'd better move in a better and new direction before more significant damage is done.

Obama '08

lois shmidl   January 31st, 2008 4:34 pm ET

CNN is working night and day the conjure questions pointed at Hillary in such a negative tone, especially Wolf. He has always done that. This is an election Hillary versus CNN & Obama. You guys need to sit in someone's living room and listen to yourselves.

No one can lead this country quite like an intelligent person as Hillary. Quit picking on Clinton. You should not be able to get by with your favortism.

Tonight, I feel sure Wolf will not allow the candidates to speak about the issure. Hillary would literally blow him out of the water. Be fair and let the two compete. Let's have a level playing field.

The same for your favorite, McCain. Give Rommey a chance.

Ian in TX   January 31st, 2008 4:33 pm ET

It seems that Mr. Clinton was perhaps a bit too prepared for the "interruption." I also doubt that someone from Obama's campaign would want to give Clinton the opportunity to show his patriotism. I wouldn't go so far as to say that the Clinton campaign planted the heckler, only that it appears very suspicious.

Call me a cynic, but this heckler might be a plant staged by the Clinton camp to restore Bills fading image. Fair or unfair, I just don't trust the Clinton's with nothing they are way to calculating and think every other person is stupid.

By the way, they have planted folks in the audience in this campaign

kw   January 31st, 2008 4:19 pm ET

By the way Colorado is the home to one of the groups that believe 911 being an inside job. Being in New York on that horrible day and seeing how Hillary responded is the reason I will support her. Thank gog we have leaders like her that lead by actions.

Bill, Covington,LA   January 31st, 2008 4:17 pm ET

I have never and will never vote for a Clinton, but, in this instance I will stand behind Bill Clinton, he was correct in putting down the heckler. Those people are either sick or al quida wannabees. I would remove them from the area then dispatch them to meet the 72 virgins. Problem solved!!

Carrie   January 31st, 2008 4:13 pm ET

I am soooooo tired of Bill Clinton!

undecided   January 31st, 2008 4:06 pm ET

I like Clinton's direct response to the "heckler" – we need to face facts: The Osama bin Ladens of the world are the real threat/danger, not our flawed democracy which, by the way, is the best form of government in the world!!! First in opportunity FOR ALL, first in "safety nets" FOR ALL, first in freedoms FOR ALL.

MN Independent   January 31st, 2008 4:03 pm ET

This has nothing to do with Obama, yet everyone here has automatically some how blamed him for it, or claimed it shows Hillary's superiority. How in the world does this show the Clintons' superior command of the issues? What issues?!?! What "substance" did he bring? That 9-11 actually happened? Geez, that takes a real brainiac to articulate. The drunk dude down the street says the same thing all the time, does that mean he has a superior command of issues as well? Maybe I should write him in on my ballot. If Bill actually articulated something about 9/11 and its relation to current policy, fine and good, but he didn't!

If anything, to me this just illustrates how the Clinton supporters who post will jump at anything to tie something negative to Obama, regardless of what it is, or if it is relevant. Quite frankly, its pathetic.

I say you go guys, I like the Clintons. They do care about ordinary people, they remeber where they came from.

Scott, Royal Oak, MI   January 31st, 2008 4:01 pm ET

I don't know if it's possible to spin this against Hillary. It was extremely well-handled by Bill.

As long as he's not distorting facts and taking cheap shots, he is a tremendously intelligent politician. I have (had) always had a great amount of respect for his abilities.

We must remember, though, he's not running for president...

Uh...Yeah   January 31st, 2008 4:01 pm ET

Does he also get in arguments with homeless people walking down the street in NY? How about people with tourette? Nice that a former president is making such productive use of his time.

mbgoldie   January 31st, 2008 4:00 pm ET

Thank you "Illinois Voter." That is EXACTLY how I feel and I'm sure many others feel the same way. I'm sick and tired of the media lambasting Bill Clinton for every speech or comment he makes and the media turns it around and criticizes him at every turn. Keep up the good work Bill!

karenSub   January 31st, 2008 3:58 pm ET

I agree, way to go Bill. Shows he REALLY HAS SUBSTANCE. I agree with illinois voter that Bill's response gently pointed out the demographic advantage in SC, an inescapable fact. But of course the press villified that along with the fairy tale remark. I can't believe the total non-reaction from the press on the beauty contest remark by the Obama camp. I am not even a feminist, but even I thought it was an awfully sexist remark.

Hmn funny another "incident" at one of their rallies. Sounds a lot like the incident before she won NH where they had to planted individuals shouting "Get back in the kitchen" or something of that sort.

When will the Clintons stop with dirty politics and planted scandals to get some TV air time?

Personally I'm not too happy with the selection I have in the Republican party and would vote for Obama if he wins your nomination. But if you guys make your ticket have anything to do with the Clintons, even Ron Paul looks a great candidate compared to her.

I'm sure I'm not the only fellow conservative who feels this way. A Clinton nomination will for sure mean another Republican in the white house. Something I don't want to exactly see happen, my party needs to be in the dog house for straying away from the basic conservative economic principles that is a corner stone of the party or atleast was.

Dave Powell, NY   January 31st, 2008 3:55 pm ET

Actor Bill has come again, this time even more desperate. I feel ashamed of this president.

simple isn't it; Hillary voted for the War, Obama didn't and Good old Bill Clinton covers up for her poor ability to investagate situations before she throws her damageing votes out-there to hurt us all. Than says she didn't mean to do it. And if she could rethink her decision after all those dead soldiers, and backing Bush, now she'd change her mind. Wake up folks-We have a problem with nuclear Iran and can't say OOPS--------–I made a mistake--------OOPS maybe Bill should say something to make it better!

how does this have anything to do with Obama?! i think ive ever heard him standing outside shouting "9/11 was a inside job". Why do you people like demonizing others so much?! you are all arrogant if you think you have all of the answers. I mean I get the whole supporting your candidate thing, but be willing to accept that every candidate has flaws. they are all human.

This wasn't someone from the Obama camp. That doesnt even make sense. If it was don't you think they would be shouting about inconsistencies in Hillary's record? The "9/11 was an inside job" people are just looking for a public platform.

People that are saying this was from Obama, seriously, think about what you are saying.

It was not a fair debate last night since most of the time was directed to McCain and Romney. They may be ahead, but it would be great to hear more from Huckabee and Paul. They may have good ideas but we didn't get to hear much from them. It was as if the debate was only between McCain and Romney. It felt like once again the media was directing voters in the direction they want. Even after Huckabee made a tactful objection about being ignored the moderator said he would shower him with questions, it didn't change things. Loved it when Huckabee said it was more like the spriket was turned off. They all should have been given equal time. TS

I am a silver spoon Republican all day long, but reading this I have a sudden respect for (former) President Clinton. He let the man say his piece and addressed in a way that was both eloquent, and truthful.

Ziri   January 31st, 2008 3:42 pm ET

The media darling boy, Obama is clueless. He'll have a rude awakening on 2/5. Hillary 08!

Ben   January 31st, 2008 3:40 pm ET

How is this related to Obama? This is between about Bill and the truth he represents in this case.

Alice in Florida   January 31st, 2008 3:40 pm ET

OMG! Is this a CNN posting?????? I'm shocked!

Hilllary Supporters:

Send an email to the DNC protesting their bone-headed move to not allow Florida's and Michigan's votes to count. If Florida's and Michigan's delegates were counted, Obama would be where he belongs. On the bottom.

I bet if they get enough emails from angry Democrats, they'll overturn their crazy decision.

Thanks! I've already sent mine.

Paul   January 31st, 2008 3:39 pm ET

Sounds like another Clinton plant so that they can get some good sound bites in, because it sounds to me to be all too convenient of a sound bite for Bill.

Al   January 31st, 2008 3:39 pm ET

LOL Go get him Bill!

American   January 31st, 2008 3:39 pm ET

If Saudi Arabians did it why are we in Iraq? Why are we even having this discussion still? Trillions of dollars into debt now for a war which has no merit. Sad really. War benefits no one. Love, not war. Peace, not hate. Forgiveness, not revenge.

Matt, Chico, CA   January 31st, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Never thought I would say this..... but good for Bill

James, Charlotte NC   January 31st, 2008 3:37 pm ET

Racist Bill is opening his mouth again. I thought the Clinton campaign was going to put him on the sidelines.

Jessica   January 31st, 2008 3:36 pm ET

No doubt Clinton feels guilty

Dem08   January 31st, 2008 3:36 pm ET

All the spouses do go out and speak for their "other half". Bill Clinton is brillant and from the town hall I watched on line yesterday, everyone should have a chance to hear him speak on behalf of Hillary.

Charles T, VA   January 31st, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Nice try to build your image back bill, but you don't fool me. Yeah right, plant someone to yell about 9/11 being an inside job so you can respond as a true patriot after your kazakGATE ($131m) scandal on the news today.

I can just see it now, using your image to convince presidents to give contracts to your friends who will later donate to you; telling that hillary will do what i say because i'm her husband.

I don't doubt your patriotism but i doubt your honesty. I wonder why the guy of all issues chosed to yell about 9-11 and not your new scandal KazakGATE. Another milestone bill, keep it up but not with my tax dollars. Go home, Obama please come and clean the white house and as a constitutional lawyer Investigate the past 20years of the Presidency and jail all of them found guilty.

Liv Manto   January 31st, 2008 3:36 pm ET

No, Yuck, you shut up. Just because you dont have a loved one who fights for you, you dont have to hate people who are loved and protected by someone. All of us Hillary followers, were not doing this for the money, were doing this because we know shes capable of changing the world for the better, despite you haters say. Go get a date or something so you wouldnt hate people who hasnt done anything evil to you. Check out the gas prices, check out if you can pay your mortgage still. If you cant get married, its probably because all the men our out there dying or returning damaged.

Bill   January 31st, 2008 3:35 pm ET

Sorry ex Pres, I voted for you but if you think I want to listen to your ramblings and dotty pontificating for another 4 years with Hillary in the Oval Office I say right back at you:

WE HEARD FROM YOU, BILL, YOU GO AWAY!!

California Independent   January 31st, 2008 3:34 pm ET

Break out the kool-aid and popcorn, here come the Obamabots.

Jim   January 31st, 2008 3:33 pm ET

CNN A clear example that the CLINTON's are listening, folks! He even stopped his speech to hear the heckler, gave him his chance to talk and then replied. Way to go Bill Clinton,
I was at his and Chelsy's event in Oklahoma City yesterday Jan. 30. Over 5,000 people packed the feild house on O.U. campus. He never put anyone down, gave a very nice speech, had the young crowd energized. Not even the person that the press tries to present. Chelsy also took questions from the students while her father attended a private fundraiser. The Oklahoma City crowd welcomed them open heartedly and there were NO hecklers.

Clinton has my VOTE!!!

Donald   January 31st, 2008 3:31 pm ET

President Clinton is right to take on this heckler. There is no need to mention Senator Clinton or Senator Obama is this thread. God knows there are plenty of other threads on CNN that set that up for Obama and Hillary supporters.

Illinois voter   January 31st, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Bill Clinton has taken on a lot criticism for his off-the-cuff remarks lately, much of it unfair criticism. Bill has been fed numerous insulting questions, the best example of which was the reporter that had the nerve to ask Bill, "so what does it say of Obama that it takes both Hillary and you to beat him" in South Carolina. The reporter failed to qualify his question by acknowledging the widely accepted fact that Obama had a demographic advantage in South Carolina. Bill simply reminded the rude reporter of Obama's demographic advantage in a gentle and indirect manner, invoking Jesse Jackson as a historical example; but alas, it was Bill who was vilified.

Bill Clinton deserves praise for his no-nonsense, matter-of-fact speeches, where he does not shy away from critics, but intelligently rattles off solutions for issue after issue in a manner which leaves Obama's motivational rhetoric sounding hollow and aloof.

Hillary '08

Karma, Hartford CT.   January 31st, 2008 3:31 pm ET

I love how every time someone says something negative about the Clintons it must be some inside job by an Obama supporter. As if they are the only ones that could possibly dislike them.

The Bard   January 31st, 2008 3:31 pm ET

This has happened before at Clinton rallies, and Bill always seems ready for it. If anyone on the campaign trail is to blame, then Hillary herself is the more likely candidate. It's always good for an easy headline (thanks, CNN!), and Lord knows she needs those more than ever nowadays.

Don in CA.   January 31st, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Not a big fan of Bill but I respect his standing up to the nutroots. I guess this means that Rosie won't be contributing to Hillary's campaign.

Erin   January 31st, 2008 3:30 pm ET

Yeah Bill!

Yuck   January 31st, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Seriously, this topic aside, shouldn't all the candidates SPOUSES go on speaking tours to show their support for their "other half"? Bill just needs to go look at some scrapbooks of his 8 years in office and SHUT UP. Bill needs to stop beating the Hillary drum and bow out.

Rick   January 31st, 2008 3:22 pm ET

Looking forward to see how the Obama worshipers spin this against Hillary. I've got popcorn in hand . . .

Fred, Reston Va   January 31st, 2008 3:22 pm ET

See. the Clintons bring SUBSTANCE over rhetoric. Obama is such a nightmare. He just does not know what he is doing.

Here is another Dem going for McCain or staying home if Obama gets the nomination. and I am black.

Jack ny, ny   January 31st, 2008 3:21 pm ET

that was great. I love you Bill.

C.Lo   January 31st, 2008 3:21 pm ET

An ex-president, a mining deal and a big donor
Huge Kazakh deal follows financier’s trip with Clinton, precedes donation

Jon   January 31st, 2008 3:20 pm ET

Right on Bill Clinton!

Regardless of what candidate you support, you gotta support your country!

Cory Fisher   January 31st, 2008 3:19 pm ET

Bill Clinton and Hillary both have attended the BilderBurg Group. A group of some of the most influential people in the world. There are no reports about it, and there is no coverage of it, why?

I'm not saying 9/11 was an inside job, but there is something wrong with the way 9/11 is portrayed and used against all of us who question the authenticity of it.

Gina   January 31st, 2008 3:19 pm ET

probably someone from the obama camp.

some guy   January 31st, 2008 3:15 pm ET

The heckler lacks intelligence - most likely an Obama supporter.
