(CNN) - Do Democratic voters think one candidate can better handle the economy than the other? Our exit polls appear to say no.

Obama voters and Clinton voters both ranked the economy as their top issue, and in roughly the same proportion. Among Clinton voters, 51 percent said the state of the economy was their biggest worry. Among Obama voters, that number was 44 percent.

Translation: When it comes to the most important issue at this stage of the election, neither Clinton nor Obama have an advantage. That's a key reason the two are so close in the polls.

Sandra,

Thanks for the well wishes. I wish you good night. If you get an income tax refund or a check in the mail soon from the US treasury this summer- please send it my way.

People are losing their homes because they bought a home they could not afford. As for the lost of jobs. Jobs are lost because maybe their skills are not needed anymore or maybe the employee brought no value to the company.

If you own a business you would not want someone on your payroll that provided no value to your business but only came to work and did little work except to punch the clock. Its time for Americans to really work. If I needed to pay my bills or provide for my family, I would do whatever was necessary to makes ends meet even working two full time jobs.

I am third.

Family first
Country second
I am Third.

BTW – I wish I had a Big Pillow- I have a small pillow and my My wife uses my Big Fluffy pillow LOL

Cinderalla dream of going to the Ball. She made it but it took WORK and a fairy god mother. I stopped believing in fairy God mothers. Hopefully you did too. I guess we will have to WORK.

Bush has keep terrorists on alerrt since 911? Take JFK's Challenge... 'Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" I think Bush's is doing it. Youi can go to bed now – pleasant dreams. All's well in your neighborhood-see you at work tomorrow.

Your Fellow American

Paul   February 5th, 2008 9:49 pm ET

Jim,

The Democratic Party lost Congress in 94 not Clinton. Hillary's scars are from fighting for Universal Healthcare and not seeing the sucker punch from the HealthCare lobby. She was not at fault for a cheating husband but she showed real poise when it went so public. She lived through a 40 million dollar investigation which lead to only lead to a failed attempt at impeaching a sitting President for a sexual transgression.

She is real. If Obama wins, I am strongly thanking of voting for McCain. That would be a first in my 20 + years of voting.

At least McCain could not be worse than Bush. Obama is a bunch of fluff without a real plan for our country.

Be Real   February 5th, 2008 9:38 pm ET

Which candidate represents America?

Is it candidate Obama-Would never have gone into IRAQ? Were we jsut supposed to wait for another Terroist Attack? Don't forget we went into Afganistan first as they were breeding terroist and CRACK.

Clinton-I support the WAR because I am a in New York Senator NOW (and 911 happened where?)

McCain-I was a POW! Enough said?

sandra jackosn   February 5th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

I think you hit that one right on the nail. I beleive that it don't take exprience to be president. I think you need hope and prays to do anything. we need a candidate who can work well with the people of this country, look at what martin said he had a dream, this dream is coming true. he did not say he had experience. john f kennedy ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for you country. these are the words i think our candidate should like at. I think obama seem to be this candidate with these thoughts in minds.

No one can Top Romney when its comes to the ECONOMY!

Hillary-No expereience needed
Obama-Change? Change what?
McCain-Reaching Across the Aisle for ?
Huckabee-for Better or Worse?

Jose Card - Independent   February 5th, 2008 8:31 pm ET

If you read Alan Greenspan's new book, he said that Senior Bush's economy had an impressive 4.1% of growth after coming out of a recession.

Bill rode the prosperity wave at the end of the cold war. All around Earth, people were optimistic and creative and the economy expand with it. If anything, Bill sliced our defense budget big time, which saved lots of budget and also did great damage to our national security. But then he gave China our satellite and missile guidance technologies before he signed the most favorable trade agreement for China in Nov., 1999 just before he left office. He knew what that trade agreement would do to our economy as he and Hillary planned to return for his third term after the damage is done. It's always easier to pander for votes when people are suffering.

Bill first admitted and then retracted that Sudan offered to get Osama bin Laden for us, but he didn't know what to do. Had Bill done his job, we wouldn't be in Iraq and we wouldn't have had 9-11.
It beats me why New York elected Hillary.
It beats me why people even consider Hillary/Bill for his third term.

Steven White   February 5th, 2008 8:22 pm ET

Rafael, you just listed a bunch of phrases without proper punctuation and then criticized someone for not typing an e. Take it from someone with a decent education: you're an idiot and have no right to vote due to ignorance.

Both candidates are very similar in all respects: on the economy, on the war, on energy, on corporate money. Barack wants a bigger military, more subsidies to energy companies, to end the war sooner, and has a plan most economists expect to fail for health insurance. Clinton is the opposite on these issues with more defense industry money so more likely to support hawkish policies and a slower pull-out from Iraq.

aholland210   February 5th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

Jim In the Boonies – do you know how many people have to work 2 or more jobs thanks to your President George Bush. Is this how life should be in the land of opportunity...come on you can't be that deep in the Boonies..

Paul   February 5th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

Jim

Clinton's policies were dead on. He was able to get a surplus with a Republican Congress. He did that for 6 years.

Bush with a Republican Congress basically put us in a level of debt which we could never have imagined. Republicans pushed for tax cuts during all of the 90's and finally got to get them in this century.

Wait No tax cuts but balanced spending leads to Surpluses versus tax cuts ( even during a time of War) and we won't get out of deficit spending until 2012 ( with Bush's own numbers.)

You are the one who is ignorant. Don't change history just to support you slanted view point.

aholland210   February 5th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Anybody that believes President Bush did this country some good has some serious issues....

Jim in the Boonies   February 5th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

BTW, Rafael you are right on.

Paul, you haven't a clue. It was the Republican Congress, and it owes its thanks to Bill Clinton's reckless spending policies early in his administration, that won in a landslide in '94 and then brought Clinton to heel. What a load of ignorance in your post.

Jim in the Boonies   February 5th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

Bil Schneider,
Blah ... blah ... blah ... "the exit polls say ....." Did it ever occur to you that the first think that registers with a voter is likability and trust ? It isn't what shows up in your doofus polls and analysis, but its the foundation on which all the candidates credibility on issues is measured. It is where Obama overwhelms Hillary. Its like the varsity against the JV. Its real easy. Obama talks to people and leaves them feeling like he respects them, the people, and is humble in wanting to represent them. Hillary talks to folks like she knows best.

Paul   February 5th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

Rafael, your facts are so slanted.

Ok. Huge surpluses versus deficit spending with Bush Sr and Bush Jr.

No restraints put on the public to check its own government.
You like to reference WhiteWater, Starr etc. You couldn't even get a sneeze at Bush with it authorizations of torture with an Independant Prosecuter.

Nafta was a failure. I will admit it but what is your solution to an ever global economy? Nafta was an attempt to provide a level playfield for business. It didn't work. We should replace it with something with better teeth. OBTW, what did Bush do to fix Nafta other than whine?

Clinton was able to force a REPUBLICAN Congress to actually stay on a budget. He even went so far as to shutdown the government to get it done.

Hillary was there and not as only a pretty. She got involved and has that scars to prove it.

Ken   February 5th, 2008 7:49 pm ET

I live in NJ and could not find anyone to support.

Perhaps Bloomberg is the best choice

Ken   February 5th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Hillary's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Surely even the most ardent supporter can attest to her pitchy arrogance.

Jim   February 5th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

Rafael the miracle was that Clinton did as well with the economy in spite of not because of Greenspan- if Greenspan's ideas were so good why didn't they work for Bush

Well if we didn't have the disgust soap operas of the 90's, Gore would have won and GW wouldn't be in the WH...something to think about.

rafael   February 5th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

BLAH BLA BLAH, funny how you guys don't actually talk about the facts that I have presented... um could it be you can't?

Paul   February 5th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

Deanna was right rafael. Living within our means seems like something that all American citizens are expected to do. If you don't you could go to JAIL.

In the 90's, we were finally paying our bills. Now we are worse off than we were with Bush's daddy.

Paul

rafael   February 5th, 2008 7:31 pm ET

Hey Paul, you don't think that they will "rule" the country together? And you call yourself knowledgeable? then you are lost as well....

Bruce Jackson   February 5th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Gee, I don't know...maybe the economy should have warranted a question in the last debate?

Bronx Latina   February 5th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

Only Romney understands the economy...none of the others have ever created a real job in the real world...or ever had a real job in the real world.

Mitt Romney is presidential.

rafael   February 5th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

Oh and learn how to spell.... There was no right wing conspiracy, learn the facts the writing is on the wall if you don't see it then you are lost my dear...

JP   February 5th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Let's talk about "experience" . Thirty five yrs is when she graduated from school. If you count being the wife of a statesman without any security clearance experience. HRC has only been in public office eight years, Obama has been in public office 12years ( 8 in IL senate).

rafael   February 5th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

Deanna, please think before you post would you?

Paul   February 5th, 2008 7:26 pm ET

Rafael,

It is Hillary on the ticket and not Bill/Hillary. Just a little bit of repect would be expected of all REALLY dedicated and knowledgable voters.

As for the 90's, I remember that I was able to support a family of 4 with a mortgage, car note, etc. on a teacher's salary. Now after these wonderful years with Bush, I am having harder times with a family of 6, a mortgage, car note and a salary north of 70. The 90's were good for everyone's wallets.

Paul.

A True Democrat with a Memory to Prove it.

Duop Wuol, Colorado Springs, Colorado   February 5th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Because these two candidates were fighting each others.

Prakaithip   February 5th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

On The Job Training is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Not now, not ever for President... it's too risky folks. Look what happened with Bush. Clearly, Kerry had more experience. Wakeup.

Deanna   February 5th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

Rafeal- whos fault was the national surplus when the Clintons left the W.H.?

Who's fault is the deficiet now?
