McCain won the support of moderate Connecticut voters.

McCain won the support of moderate Connecticut voters.

(CNN) - CNN just called Connecticut for John McCain. What were the keys to his win?

As has been the case in earlier states, McCain overwhelmingly won the support of moderate voters in Connecticut. According the exit polls, 31 percent of the GOP primary electorate there identified themselves as moderate - and 61 percent of those voters went for McCain. .

The Connecticut exit polls also show McCain performed better in that state among conservatives than he has in other states. While he has lost the conservative vote to Mitt Romney in New Hampshire and Florida, the two are roughly tied among conservatives in Connecticut: 44 percent for McCain and 43 percent for Romney.

While McCain is doing better with conservatives in this state, it’s clear they are not quite ready to rally around the Arizona senator.

Another finding out of Connecticut: Republicans there are split in their opinion of the Bush administration - and McCain overwhelmingly wins among those Republicans who are dissatisfied with the current White House leadership. Translation: McCain still has a problem with the party's base.

HEY RUSH LIMBAUGH, ANN COULTER, AND THE REST OF THE "CONSERVATIVE BASE:" SEEING HOW ROMNEY IS DOING TERRIBLY IN THE SUPER-TUESDAY PRIMARIES, DON'T YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE SUPPORTED HUCKABEE, THE REAL AND GENUINE CONSERVATIVE IN THIS ELECTION.

YOU COULD LEARN SOMETHING FROM HIM!! ENDORSE A CANDIDATE ON WHERE THEY STAND ON THE ISSUES NOT WHETHER OR NOT THEY CAN BEAT HILL (WHICH ROMNEY CAN'T BY THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Alex, chill out. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Kristina Penfold   February 5th, 2008 9:35 pm ET

I can not in good consciene vote for either McCain or Huckabee. Not just because of their views which I don't agree with but because of their unethical lies and scheming against Mitt Romney. To bring up a comment on military issues which weren't mentioned by Romney against Gore and giving your votes to Huckabee just so Romney won't win. Where is the "straight talk". And Huckabee saying Romney doesn't believe in God. If you are going to make claims like this back them up with facts. If someone causes so much contentions and lies that are catty. What makes you think they will be ideal and respectable if elected. Come November if Romney is not the nominee I will still vote for him. Join me!

IF THIS BOMB IRAN CLOWN WINS THE ELECTION... YOU CAN EXPECT
A RESTORATION OF THE DRAFT TO SATISFY HIS MILITARY AMBITIONS.
**INTERNATIONAL SOCIALISM** INCREASED. DOLLARS WASTED.
THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE LEARNED NOTHING FROM DUBYA.

If Hillary were to win, McCain will really rally the base.

chris   February 5th, 2008 9:08 pm ET

And he will continue to have a problem with the base..he's not a conservative and is Republican IN NAME ONLY. He and Huckabee are tag teaming to knock Romney out...pathetic. He wins the nomination, no one is getting my vote...

Obama is the media favorite.....anything Hiliary does is bashed...if he wins the primary, THEN the Democrats will wake up and realize that they have the most BEATABLE candidate, handing the elections on a platter....

Then we will find out, courtesy of the Republican Elections machinery about all his flaws, his problems with other minority groups, (why hispanic and asian americans do not support him), all about his private life flaws, voting records, etc which are now being ignored by the complaisant or starstruck press.

Obama is all flash and smoke...no substance...Poetic maybe but cannot deliver the bread and butter....
Idealistic, not tested in battle like JFK was, easy for Putin and the others like him to fool....

Anonymous, you're a racist. You make everyone sick.

It's interesting how people can be duped by a candidates promises on issues rather than read in between the lines of his position on issues. McCain's change of position of ilegal aliens with the reasoning he listened to American speak does not
follow the same reasoning as his position on Iraq. American has spoken on the issue of Iraq and McCain chooses NOT to listen. It's obvious McCain is not listening to American, but shifting his position and playing the issues that will help him win votes to continue his main objective which is continuing the war in Iraq and making Iraq a occupied US holding for the long term. Republicans want change, think they are going to get it, but will find out, they just elected another Bush.

Enough with so much emphasis on Obama, the MEDIA favorite.
Clinton is winning more States and all CNN does is talking of Gergia in which there ia a terrific majority of black people.
MEDIA MUST BE HONEST and tell things like they are with a majority if States for Clinto, not Obama

Please correct your grammatically incorrect graphic about the close race "Between" McCain, Romney and Huckabee. It should be "Among" not "Between" when more than two persons are involved.
