Bill Clinton and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom watched Hillary Clinton's event Monday night .

SAN FRANCISCO (CNN) – Bill Clinton alternated between fist-pumps and fingernail-biting on Monday night as he watched his wife Hillary Clinton's national town hall unfold on a big screen in downtown San Francisco.

The former president — who warmed up the audience before the event began by promising "blog sites" for government agencies in his wife's administration — viewed the townhall while seated between the city's mayor Gavin Newsom and Florida Rep. Kendrick Meek, who has been traveling with Clinton in recent days.

Clinton, seated in a folding chair, was ebullient during his wife's answers on stem cell research and the state of FEMA, pumping his fists and applauding with the audience.

"That's a good answer," he said at one point in the dialogue.

At other moments, he stared ahead quietly at the screen, eyelids lowered but not to the point of napping.

He began to chew on his fingernails toward the end of the show when Hillary was asked if she was too divisive a figure to unite the country.

At one point, the show's host Carole Simpson gushed to the viewing audience that "we are about to go to the First State!"

Bill leaned over to congressman Meek like an eager fifth grader in a geography bee: "Delaware," he said knowingly. "Delaware."

congratulations sen. clinton on her victories in CA, MA. Clinton is right choice for change that we need in dis country. she got all we need for a change, economical, political and she is the only one that has a better knowledge on how to end the war in iraq and bring our soldiers home and move our nation forward in every aspect. Let me tell y'all something very important and that's we need a mother, a sister in the white house. question, A mother or A father who do y'all think will do better in healthcare and economic stability? my answer is a mother first she'll make sure her home(americans) is in order before anything else. i strongly believe she will take us to the promise land, to our dreams and visions. i see God giving her the victories over her oppositions come nov. 08

vote for her mrs clinton solution for american

As a former avid CNN viewer, It saddens me that all I've heard all day today (Primary Day) and yeterday have been free Obama runs on CNN. I can't believe that this is the lst time that I've seen or heard even a sound bite aboutt this one. Of course, I watched the Hallmark channel yesterday pm so I was able to hear Senator Clinton herself address some 20+ issues.

When the primary elections are over, I think CNN will wonder why its ratings drop. As a senior citizen retired professional female, I cannot express my disappointment in the slanted coverage that CNN has given Senators Obama and Clinton. All Obama coverage is positive; we see reruns of the same speeches. Senator Clinton's coverage is usually not live coverage but "synthesis" done by a biased CNN pundit, even though she has given speeches on a wide range of critical topics throughout her campaign. None of these critical issue speeches, attended by thousands, seem to gain CNN attention. Is this what is meant
by "institutionized (media) GENDER bias?

P.S. Please stop saying that Senator Obama receives the more "educated populace" vote. What were the statistics by education categories in South Carolina and Florida? It will interesting to see if you report the statistics by education categories in any other southern states.
My husband and I both have earned doctorates and cannot imagine voting for anyone of either gender with Senator Obama's credentials. It would be like voting for another George Bush.

Until CNN earns our trust again, by at least periodically giving some positive coverage of Senator Clinton's views on issue, we will turn on CNN periodically on our small TV while watching public TV, C-span, or MSNBC on our big screen.

I just received a robo-call from Hillary Clinton….So Hillary has "35 years" of experience….right??? What kind of experience? I am guessing that that includes those years as First Lady in Arkansas and in DC? Soooo… is she claiming that she had such close ties with the then Governor and President that she gained experience by osmosis? Then, are we further to believe that a Hillary presidency would not be a co-presidency now, as well? I like to judge my candidate on their own merits. It is really difficult to do that with Bill always in the picture. Sorry Hillary…. If you just "found your voice," I am left to wonder just whose voice you've been using until nowI

Hillary's town hall was so lame - it was obvious the questions were all pre-approved.

We have had the Clintons at the helm before and for those with memory we have felt the shame of Bill's time in office. His women, sadly much more than just one, before and WHILE he was President. We watched Hill attempt to get a health care package through that would have ruined this country. It failed then and it will fail now though it sounds good to voters. I have a dog at home that is trained and that is what came to mind when I saw her, again, cry on cue yesterday…. Her self respect is nil…as is Bill's for her. No one would have stayed with that man unless it was just a part of her plan. I can't respect her, as a woman or a public figure. She thinks it takes a village to raise a child? Then let her come tell mine why his President was caught, in the Oval office, with another woman…let her village explain that one to a 4th grader.
Nothing more than well educated trailer park trash….both of them.

Pardon me but after reading blog after blog it occurred to me that the Democratic party is definitely not unified. I am so shocked by some of the comments posted by Obama supporters. His platform is all about bringing people together, unifying both parties, and changing the face of America. It is blatantly obvious that some of his supporters didn't hear the message. It is perfectly acceptable to agree to disagree. After all we are old enough to vote. But to continue to brutally attack the Clinton's is extremely distasteful and very sophomoric. If a person wants to support Obama that is their right. Likewise if there are those who support Clinton that is their prerogative.
It is painful to see how this Democratic campaign is becoming so polarized.
Part of the blame for all this negative spin lies with the media. It is very apparent that Obama is their choice. However, because voters are influenced by the talking heads they really need to spend the same amount of time on all candidates. In the end there is some merit to the idea that we should not discuss politics or religion because it evokes tremendous emotional response. I am a proud Democrat and a proud American but who I vote for is my business. Let's come together like Obama says and support whoever the nominee is..it is the only way we will be able to achieve change. I know that Obama and Clinton would endorse this message!!!

Rob   February 5th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

Hillary simply cannot win. When the Republicans start on Bill's current extra-marital goings-on (let alone his historical ones), she will be toast. They are just waiting. It's going to be very ugly indeed. Even nominating her is irresponsible, not because she isn't competent, but because of Bill. When McCain wins the White House, will the Hillary addicts please apologize (don't know why - - by that time it will be too late)

CDR   February 5th, 2008 4:48 pm ET

The momentum of the movement that is "The Future of America," can only be prolonged by today's events but America is long past overdue for CHANGE.

When the people lead, our leaders will follow! The people are moving and the loosely knitted fabric that is America is becoming quilted ever more tightly into a coalition of everyday people who demand a new direction and more from our leaders. There are those that would leave the fabric divided. There are those that would leave holes in America and allow our Nation to continue to come apart at its stitches. However, the people have chosen to unite for one UNITED STATES and one AMERICA.

We look forward to a future of a a stronger AMERICA where the least of us has opportunity to prosper. Where we re-invest in the foundation of this Nation… that is the American people because without the American people there is no America. This is a Nation governed by the people and for the people and for so long we have not had our voices heard but TODAY WE VOTE for CHANGE. And, the people will prevail over the establishment that has oppressed the everyday American, that has left our children in debt, shipped our jobs oversees, and made it ever so hard to succeed in the Land of Opportunity. Today we are not without HOPE we are not without a VOICE.

PLEASE Get out and BARACK the VOTE for OBAMA and for a Nation United.

-CDR

I am so tired of the disgusting, unfair, and negative media coverage against the Clintons. I wonder how many millions did the Obama campaign pay CNN and other news network for all the verbal abuse and lies about Hillary? No matter what they do, she will still be successful!!!!

No news network will ever discourage me from voting for Hillary. The more they attack her, the more I like her!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hillary 2008.

I totally agree with the people who have commented that this whole campaign process has been driven by the pro-Obama media bias! And about Oprah getting on the bandwagon: if Obama were a white senator from Illinois, she wouldn't give him the time of day! I only hope the American people are smart enough to realize what is going on and will vote accordingly.

eg   February 5th, 2008 4:31 pm ET

There is an article from Fact Check about Obama being untruthful about Hillary's health plan. It amazes me that so many don't check all the facts before spouting off. Health care econimists say Hillary's plan has the best chance of working. Article in NY times.

Why are you talking about Bill instead of Hillary at such an important time in the primary? Do you think ALL of us are nothing but People Magazine heads? Why not tell us about her meeting and give her equal time with Obama, who you obviously are more interested in promoting. Maybe experience is not as marketable as being a rock star candidate.

Hilary didn't get my vote because I remember what a mockery she and Bill made of the White House when they were there.

Even in the Senate - what has she accomplished other than biding her time to run for a promotion? We have an endless war, the country is in decline, and she was pressured by the financial industries on a bill that favored business not consumers.

She also takes a lot of healthcare lobby money.

So how is that experience? She makes laws - we suffer - and she cries an apologizes while on her way to fundraisers so expensive the "little" people can't afford to attend?

My neighborhood is stoked and fired up to send a message. She hasn't earned the Presidency and this is too important to decided based on whose "turn" it is.

I read this in the paper and I like to share. The legitimacy of Barak Obama's coronation as our new "photogenic redeemer" ( a phrase historian Douglas Brinkley used to describe JFK) rest on cloud-castle platitudes about hope and unity, lacking even the slights ballast of realism. But what else would you expect from a party that has become a civic religion? ( source: Jonah Goldberg, Tribune Media Service)

CNN has been running with ratings game for a week now. Sad fact. The product advertised on this network is the boycott.
Remember, women have great memories and we will hold you responsible for biased reporting! The MSM has really tried to influence this election just as they did with the others and I hope Hillary wins big so the media and all the pundits will have egg on their faces tomorrow.

Audrey   February 5th, 2008 3:26 pm ET

Just to let everyone know that the media bias in favor of Obama and against Clinton is real, not imaginary. Yesterday, on a rival station (sorry, CNN–you should have been doing this analysis too), there was a report that the positive media stories on Obama were in the mid to high 70th percentile, while the positive stories on Clinton were in the 20's. I know there will be some snide comments from the "we hate the Clintons" camp, but this really is beyond the pale. The media should report the news, not make it. Where are the ethics of journalism???

I voted for Hillary.

I think it is highly ironic that Obama pushes himself as the anti-establishment candidate, when he has to post ads with endorsements from the Kennedy family. The pro-Obama ad with Caroline Kennedy was absolutely the worst - how dare they compare him to JFK? It would be much more sincere to have ads from REAL PEOPLE promoting Obama. The whole Kennedy/Oprah endorsement juggernaut has made me extremely wary of Obama.

GO HILLARY!

Miss Wendy, PA   February 5th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

*Sigh*……honestly. WHAT 8 years of hell are you people talking about from the Clintons?? Did anyone who speaks on Hillary and Bill's marriage know them personally? Those are personal and private affairs……the Kennedy family who backs Obama is VERY VERY deep in infidelity and MUCH worse as we all know. Did people HATE jackie onasis after JFK's affair with Marilyn??? No!!! both Jackie AND Marilyn are still sweethearts and far be it from ANYONE to speak against JFK.

Let's face it…..some of you may not vote Hillary because you don't like her, and some of us may not vote Obama because we don't like HIM. However anyone who will decide their vote based on what someone's "marriage arrangement" is….clearly is a hypocrite. The same "cheaters" who are backing Obama are "gods" in the eyes of the voters that CONDEMN Hillary for not leaving her husband???? Tsk tsk make up your minds. Due to this hypocrisy it is clear that you are desperate for an argument against her and have no other ammunition!!! That makes Hillary look even BETTER to me……

Furthermore you have NO idea as to whether Hillary and Bill have a "marriage of convenience" just like a VERY large portion of Politicians have!!! Honestly it makes me laugh that the very same people (especially men) that said "What Bill and Hillary do is THEIR business" back during his administration are the SAME ones who CONDEMN Hillary for not doing what??? Leaving him??? Making a public spectacle of the Presidency and their Family??? Shaming their child in school by "airing their dirty laundry"???? You'd have lined them up for the executioner had Hillary done that. She'd have been branded a "drama-queen, militant feminist, and anti-family" had she taken THAT road either!!!!!

Make up your minds, Obamanites……

By the way…i am STILL waiting to hear from even ONE Obama supporter exactly WHAT this CHANGE for America is supposed to be!!!! Honestly do you even know yourselves??????

She ruined the labor unions as a corporate lawyer for Walmart.

She failed at bring Universal Health care in the 90s.

She voted for Iraq war, which was a mistake, np. But she won't admit that she makes mistakes.

Last I checked Obama has more experience being a Senator (though at state level).

She's talented, he's talented, but he also has vision.

Look at who the majority of Obama's support is coming from. Young adults under the age of 25. Most, still in college. Unfortunately, most of these young adults, have not experienced the real world on their own, paying for taxes, paying for health insurance, supporting a family, etc..

Why is Kennedy all of a sudden touting "change". Why hasn't he tried to make a "change" all the years he's been in office? He's wanting to get something out of his endorsement, the "i'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" mentality. Very fishy. He's knows he'd get nothing from Clinton.

Were the eight years of prosperity and peace that we had under Bill Clinton's leadership simply too much for you?

Are you happier now that we have had seven years of staggering economic decline, a president that lied to our country and lead into an unjust war in Iraq,
we now face a multi trillion-dollar deficit, a declining dollar and a shameful image worldwide? Oh yes, of course, that must be it !!!

Hillary may have her heart in the right place and good policies, which makes it sad that she will bring the Democrats down to defeat if she is the nominee. It isn't the media that hates her - it is far too many ordinary individuals, rational or not. In addition, her nomination will bring out a groundswell of anti-Hillary support that her supporters refuse to either see or believe exists. While I like her, I won't be voting for her in the primary because we need a candidate who can win - and that isn't Hillary.

Sharon   February 5th, 2008 1:45 pm ET

So far Obama has gotten a "free ride" by the press. Why did he speak against the war and then when he actually was elected to the Senate, vote in every case for the war? Why did he remove the anti-war speech from his website until he started running for president? In a debate Obama said he only worked five hours for the "slum lord" yet the letters he wrote for the "slum lord" alone would have taken many more hours. What about his non-votes in the Illinois legislature?
Why did he "slam" the woman who said she was worried about illegal immigrants taking jobs in the inner city, accusing her of scapegoating? His tone was competely different when his was "pandering" for the vote in South Carolina. It's time the media started asking Obama the "tough" questions for a change. Hillary has withstood the media unfairness with dignity and honor. Can Obama do the same?

Oscar, Rio Vista, CA   February 5th, 2008 1:42 pm ET

Hilary has still not answered the question about what happens to a person if they don't want to buy healthcare?

She goes on about the 15 million that are supposedly not covered by Obama's plan, which is untrue, but she will not answr the question about those that don't want to buy coverage under her plan.

And don't forget, she is still in bed with the HMOs and pharmaceutical companies so don't think that everything she plans is on the up and up.

And BTW: What happens in 5years time when these mortgage companies can once again do what they are doing now.

We Dems aren't interested in GOP advice. It's our turn now…

Jerry Handerson   February 5th, 2008 1:36 pm ET

Folks, you don't know much about Obama, what he said is sound too good too be true. It might well be turn out "NOT TRUE" after all.

Al   February 5th, 2008 1:34 pm ET

The Clinton's have had their time.

Remember the first attacks on the WTC….nothing done.

Good times because of the Internet boom…anyone can sail a ship in calm waters.

Bill can't get any in NY….can't wait for the oval office to rekindle his neurotic ways.

Go Obama Go.

Marry Anderson   February 5th, 2008 1:32 pm ET

I like Hillary and very express for what she has done for children and our country. I think she is the best choice to be our president of the United State. I trust her and I don't think she will devive our country at all. Our country is under a big mess from Bush and it needs someone with a lot of experience to clean it up. Obama just happens to be a very good speaker, but just talked big. He doesn't know what he is doing and what he talking very smooth about. Best wishes to Hillary and keep up your good works. I aslo think Hillary is true wanted to help the poeple not because of power or money. I hope she won over all this Tuesday and move on to the next next. She is capable to run against John Mccain just fine. I hope she would pick John Edward as her VP.

Best wishes to John Edward and Ellizebeth also.

Melissa   February 5th, 2008 1:31 pm ET

Rick in Va,

I want 8 more years of the Clintons. You can take it to the bank. Just because a woman stays with her husband doesn't means that she's a sleezebag. What an ignorant comment to make. If every woman left her husband that cheated on her in this country, that would be millions.

I have woken up. I don't need to dream, I don't need inspiration, I have those.

I want solutions.

I want Hillary Clinton Rick and would love to have Bill by her side to help make decision.

By the way, I'm sure you've never kissed more than 1 woman in your life…

Judy Donald   February 5th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Go Hiliary — you're the one person I feel can make the difference — times were good during Bill's days and we all had to work together to make things work — your comment Sunday night about having to clean up after the second Bush was EXCELLENT!!! How True. A guy living across the street from us is definitely one of these people who has to decide whether he gets medicine or food and I keep telling my husband to tell him to "Tell Hiliary — she'll help!!!"
You're doing a great job — hope you go all the way.

Nerakami   February 5th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

I am not much for spewing hatred towards others because I am of the firm belief that what you send out in the Universe comes back to you, so I try to keep my energy positive. I do however, would like to address a lot of Hillary supporters who don't understand why there seems to be so much antagonism towards the Clintons. Negativity attracts negativity and we saw Bill's thinly veiled attempts at interjecting a quality in this race that potentially could tear this country apart.. we have so much to heal regarding race amongst ourselves… He did this, without Hillary's objections and with very little concern of the consequences. His main priority was for Hilary to win at all costs. Fortunately America has evolved enough to say… No Bill… we wont stand for that. The point is, the Clintons attract so much negativity because they themselves are participators in negativity. "Whatever we sow, so shall we reap". The unfortunate reality is that the Clintons have fought politics in that manner for over 35 years and do not know another way. They are products of learnt behavior. On the other hand, Obama entered the race with the vision of uniting us all, our hopes, our dreams, to become involved with the process and the response has been phenomenal because these qualities make us feel good about ourselves. And even though personally I think Hillary would be a capable President, her tactics and mind-set are not evolved to the level that America needs and wants at this time. We are ready for positive changes in this country and unfortunately it this is not a quality that the Clintons have at the core of their public persona. The people reacting to the Clintons are not haters, they are reacting to the energy they feel coming from the Clintons.

tabitha   February 5th, 2008 1:30 pm ET

Go Hillary! I can't wait to have you in the white house. There's so much mess to clean up It will take decades for US to be back on its feet again!! I know Hillary will overcome all that criitsim by the media. The media is supposed to be objective but there's so much sour grapes and hate that they disect the Clintons to death! She a tough and intelligent person she will win the nomination inspite of the unfair coverage by the media. SHOW THEM HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ChrisinAlabama   February 5th, 2008 1:27 pm ET

This Country needs Universal healthcare. Then possibly the Gov't will have to acknowledge or at least consider how unhealthy all the junk food, pesticides and toxins in our food chain are and how it is contributing to disease. GO HILLARY!!!!

Whitburn   February 5th, 2008 1:26 pm ET

Californians - note the latest hypothetical matchup polls of Obama against McCain (Obama ahead by 8 points) compared to Clinton vs McCain (Statistical tie). Obama remains the most electable choice.

Brian   February 5th, 2008 1:22 pm ET

Uh, this is the most obtuse news blurb I've ever read. Maybe CNN can give us a report on what Anderson Cooper is doing while he's watching Wolf Blitzer deliver the returns tonight. Wouldn't that be interesting.

Rick in VA.   February 5th, 2008 1:19 pm ET

It still amazes me that people would want possibly 8 more years of the Clinton's. These are some of the sleaziest people God ever put on this earth! I'm so tired of hearing about her "35 years of experience" that it makes me sick. She played no major role in her husbands administration, she couldn't even leave the slime bag when he cheated on her for who know's how many times! Yet some people still want him around for a "co-presidency" ? No wonder the Democrats are so screwed up! Look at all of the great role models, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Jessee jackson, Al Sharpton, Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi? I could go on but there is not enough room to list all of the names of the stupid! I'm a staunch Republican who admits that GWB is the worst President to date, but I'd vote for Obama before I'd let Hillary anywhere near the White House. Wake up people!

Wouldn't it be interesting if the media's blatant bias against Hillary, and Obama's all-out steamroller events featuring Oprah, Ted Kennedy, et al, backfired? It's very possible they misread the American voters.

Jean Powers   February 5th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Obama does not have the expereince that is needed at this time and will not be

Bill and Gavin Newsom. What a pair of political elitists, who both think with their little heads ! That picture alone is devoid of integrity.

Paul, CA   February 5th, 2008 12:51 pm ET

Do people really want a potentially 28 years of regime ruling by the Bushes and the Clintons?

If you want change, Obama is the only real choice.

How will Hillary find Osama Bin Laden, she couldn't even find her law records for 2 years and they were "on the coffee table" right in front of her! Yeah right, I REALLY believe that one! wink, wink.

Karen, Florida   February 5th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

I thought the Town Hall Meeting was most impressive. It reinforced my support of Hillary for President. She demonstrated that she is so ready to be our Commander in Chief, and in outlining her plans to bring America back to it's former economic and global glory, she demonstrated how this country needs her to be our President. With Hillary as our President, we can once again be the Country that leads, instead of driving our allies away and making our enemies hate us more than they already do. This country has been severely damaged by Bush and Co. and we need Hillary to help the healing begin.

HILLARY, ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITE HOUSE

ellyn   February 5th, 2008 12:47 pm ET

YES! Hillary is all about the status quo! Nothing will change, she's divisive. She's one big YAWN.

OBAMA 2008!

Enough of the Clintons. Bill's intentions are for himself to be back in power - not his wife!! What a selfish, self-centered, lying, little boy he is.

Hillary terrifies insecure men and scared women…everybody else shoud vote for her just because she's been slammed by the press as well as the publican party…who are some of Obamas biggest supporters…why would that be?

Hillary can beat those guys.

I will vote for Hillary Clinton in spite of Oprha but I wil never watch her show again.

The Media Machine will do anything to sway voters away from Clinton and endorse it's darling Obama only so it can get what it really wants- a Republican.

Pete   February 5th, 2008 12:22 pm ET

The open bias against Hillary is *necessary*

Hay   February 5th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

This article is kinda weird. What are they trying to say by analyzing every move of Bill, his fingernails, his eyelids? Why they don't analize this way Michelle Obama, obnoxious and arrogant woman who says things like her husband's socks are stinky; or that Hillary can't keep her household in order and can't be a good President. Go ahead, CNN, give us more on BO's wife, that we would know what to expect when she will come to White House and turn it to Black House.

Lois Blasenheim   February 5th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Yay Denis from New Jersey. You have said it all in one sentence. HILLARY MUST WIN despite the bias.

Jon, Pittsburgh, PA   February 5th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Those that control the media have spoken. It's very obvious that they prefer Obama to be the nominee against the Republican. It's obvious because there have been almost no negative news reports on Obama. Nothing about his younger days - that were reported on in big news stories when GW Bush was running and Bill Clinton was running.

They will be waiting for him to get the nomination then, unload on him. Bush/Cheney will starts some provacation in the Middle East with Iran or Syria, the terror level will suddenly be raised, and dumb, misinformed Americans will vote another Republican light-weight into the oval office.

CNN will probably not even post this.

VOTE HILARY.

Blayze Kohime   February 5th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

Its funny to see people on both sides (Hillary and Obama) both claim that they are being biased against by CNN.

Carole   February 5th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

The media has set their sights on declaring Obama the best candidate. I have been so disappointed that we no longer have an unbiased press. What has happened to America. Both candidates should be treated with respect and equality. that has not happened. I am discouraged by the press and therir unending positive press for Obama and negative press for Hillary.
Shame on you.

Andrew   February 5th, 2008 12:05 pm ET

Wow, Judith defining Hillary as "a sweetheart" was just too much for me. Please Judith, if you lived in DC, in the heart of political America where you see politicians up close, you'd realize just how naive and hilarious that comment is.

Mary   February 5th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

- In the ‘90s, Bill Clinton said he would bring change. He couldn’t use the experience card since Bush senior had alot of experience. Think about that folks.
- Hillary agreed and voted with Bush on the Iraq war. Wrong type of experience!
- Hillary agreed and voted with Bush on the possibility of an Iran war. AGAIN? Hmmm, Hillary knew what Bush did with Iraq but she still agreed with Bush? SHE DIDN’T LEARN FROM HER EXPERIENCE!!!!
- She was incapable of getting us Universal Health Care when she was asked to do so in the ‘90s. Can we expect another watered down version of her plan and then ask us to praise her that she did something?
- As stated in many events and debates, Obama does not like lobbyists interfering with his plans. Hillary wants and accepts lobbyists contributions. How will she be successful with her plans? That’s what Obama means when he says, it will be business as usual if Hillary wins. That is, status quo.

Hopeless   February 5th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

I find it odd that hillary is always talked about as being the establishment candidate when Obama is back by alot of the same corporate sponsers that
supported Bill Clinton.

Deborah   February 5th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

You're right about the media, they have done nothing short of endorsing Obama from the beginning, because they continue to give as much negative media against Hillary. I pray that it all back fires on them and all those anti-clintons, when she wins, so that they can see that she is deserving of her position as the President of the United States. If Obama wins, it won't be because he is more qualified, it's because people were ignorant to vote due to endorsements, positive media and hatred toward the Clintons. This does not make for a good candidate, and for Obama to be cocky enough to say that he knows he has Clintons votes but she won't get his, was enough for me to choose not to vote at all than vote for him. He reminds me of Bush when he was running. "Arrogant"

gigi   February 5th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

I think Hillary would make the best president at this time. She puts forth the best this country has to offer after the last 8 years of a bankrupt administration that has brought this country to its knees.

We do not need another pie in the sky dreamer. We need a doer and we need one now!!!!!

Kathie   February 5th, 2008 11:57 am ET

Hillary will win because she is the best person for the job! Can you understand that the logistics of moving into the White House and getting to know the inner workings takes most new Presidents almost a full year to get their traction. That won't be the case with Hillary. She has been there and knows her way around. That in itself it a great reason to vote for her. On the other hand her grasp of the issues that affect all Americans is unmatched by the other candidates.

Flowery speeches won't get things done, it may inspire people but we need someone who can make change happen, not just wax poetic about change.

Matt   February 5th, 2008 11:53 am ET

Half the country hates Hillary, and you Dems are trying to make her the party nominee? Can someone please explain to me how the most divisive figure in politics is going to unite the country and fix our problems? You Dems are just so naive.

Perry K   February 5th, 2008 11:53 am ET

Clinton's had there time…Hilliary would not be there except for Bill. This is Bill's way of getting around term limits. She is much too divisive. Can't believe people such as NOW are saying they are voting for her just because she is a woman. Fake tears don't cut it. If we are unlucky enough to have her as president, will she tear up whenever she gets in a crisis situation? Time for a fresh, new face in D.C.

Jeff an Independent   February 5th, 2008 11:52 am ET

He oughta bite his nails when she's asked about being polarizing. This is an independent who would not vote for her (and him = attached at the hip) at gunpoint.

Barbara   February 5th, 2008 11:51 am ET

Has the past finally come around to wreak its' revenge on the Clintons? Bill seems to be unwell…baggy eyes, tempramental outbursts, doddering statements. Can he be suffering from something that is becoming debilitating? It would appear the DNC has attached a 'keeper' to him. The poor man, has he come to this bufoonery as a result of his past….or is it just karma?

MN voter   February 5th, 2008 11:51 am ET

Why is every story on CNN about Hillary Clinton, even when none of the stories actually contain anything newsworthy? If you're going to just publish fluff about the candidates, you could at least give them equal time.

I know Obama is the underdog - especially since so many early voters already cast their votes in places like CA (I wonder how many of them since have seen the light and wish they could vote for Obama!) and Clinton's got the media coverage and her political machine, but Obama's got my vote!

Brigitte   February 5th, 2008 11:50 am ET

My son and I voted for Hillary here in Georgia this morning!!! We also called all our friends and reminded them to go out and vote for Hillary!!!

This is just one of the reasons:

At a campaign stop in November, Obama told an Iowa audience that "probably the strongest experience I have in foreign relations is the fact that I spent four years living overseas when I was a child in Southeast Asia."

Really, that's kinda scary Mr. Obama. I'll go with the first lady who travelled to 80 countries and the senator who has been to Iraq several times.

Obama is a sick joke being played on this country by the media. Shame on you all!

Larry   February 5th, 2008 11:49 am ET

President Clinton did his best to this country and I believe he and his wife have experienced and learned a lot in his administration. We can expect what she is able to accomplish in her office. And she has all the experiences and means to do a better job than what he did in his previous job.

Obama is great, but we don't really know what the future will looks like. After recent 8 years' downs, think we need a peaceful healing process more than unexpected.

stan pitts pa   February 5th, 2008 11:48 am ET

Obama is charming but not experienced guy. This world needs experience and mature person to handle chaos. United States needs Change but the world needs to unite. The only one who fits this category is Hillary, a woman who experienced marital problems, who knows how to make comprise, make reconcilation and how to keep promise; a woman who knows what she wants and knows how t o get things done; a woman who experienced all kinds of attacks and is strong enough to stand up; a woman who swallowed all sorts of bitterness and still has smile on her face.

Go Hillary!

phenixmx   February 5th, 2008 11:41 am ET

It's nice to see something about Hillary that isn't negative. The media has thrown all of their sizeable influence behind Obama and have consistently portrayed him in a positive light compared to her always negative publicity from them. It's truly ridiculous, transparent, and has stopped me from watching any more "news" about the election on T.V. The news isn't what it used to be - it's all about personalities and opinions. I want hard news and facts not intrepertations from some yo-yo who has no experience or qualifications other than they're cute or personable.

Hillary is so much the establishment candidate. How does she dare talk about change?"

Explain why the establishment such as the Kennedys are backing Obama?

We've seen this "not like the old politicians" nonsense here in Britain - and every time it turns out that those elected were exactly like the old politicians.

The old Social Democratic and Labour Party did it.

Tony Blair did it.

Even Margaret Thatcher did it.

I hope Americans can see past the glib words and vote on the substance rather than the empty rhetoric.

Kris - Bristol,PA   February 5th, 2008 11:38 am ET

So much for the will of THE PEOPLE…

794 "Superdelegates" (made up of Congressmen / women and DNC officials) will be deciding our Democratic nominee if the race is anywhere near as close as the polls say it is.

The list of of super delegates and who they support is available online, and it looks like they support Hillary almost 2-1.

jrzy grl   February 5th, 2008 11:36 am ET

This comment from "kevin from alaska" just shows the kind of misogynist attacks Ms. Clinton and other women leaders have to put up with. We would not hear a remark about Mr. Obama's race on these pages. Subjecting women readers to this vile remark is also negligent on CNN's part. Senator Clinton is an intelligent, well-respected woman who has worked for years for so many. Kevin, stay in Alaska!
CNN get rid of your hate rhetoric. I can't believe CNN "deemed it approrpriate for posting." This type of post insults all women, not just Senator Clinton!

Dennis in IA   February 5th, 2008 11:36 am ET

It it really disgusting to see the Clinton machine at work again last night. According to CSPAN - the questions and the audience were pre approved, just like her town hall meeting here in Iowa where the college student was given a question to ask her. What will she do as president when the questions are not the softball kind that both CNN and her staff give her. She is being blown by the Winds of Change - Barack Obama. Give us the future not the past of divisive politics.

It was a great program. Hillary Clinton is very intelligent . She knows the issues and foreign affairs. I asks all of the Obama supporters to back up and take another hard look at the candidates. All one can do is talk about hope and change and the other talks about the issues that face us today and hoe she would address those issue. His speech is hot air and her is about getting things done.

AJ, IL   February 5th, 2008 11:30 am ET

Any copied and "re-spun" concept from the Clinton campaign. Obama was talking about transparency and utilizing the power of the Internet at the beginning of his campaign. I doubt that Hillary or Bill know how to get to the Internet.

Obama in 08!

T from Raleigh   February 5th, 2008 11:30 am ET

If Bill were a woman and Hillary a republican male, I bet the media spinners would think his behaviors "cute, sweet, and the example of a supportive wife"!!!

James from America   February 5th, 2008 11:30 am ET

Well, Kevin, you are the first convincing example I've ever seen to argue against men's suffrage.

Anyone who would suggest, even in jest, that 52% of the population shouldn't get to vote because you can't stop one woman you dislike from running for office doesn't understand democracy enough to be trusted or allowed to vote.

Giel   February 5th, 2008 11:30 am ET

Europe wants Hillary!!!

Hillary Supporter   February 5th, 2008 11:29 am ET

I hope everyone will vote today and make an informed decision from what they personally saw and heard from candidates on the hard issues. The media has been so biased on how they have reported. I am not going to vote for Obama, and certainly not because Oprah thinks I should. Oprah couldn't choose a competent person to run her girl's school in Africa (she had to remove a staff
member for allegations of abuse), why would anyone think she was more insightful about a candidate for president? Obama has shown poor judgement having a shady businessman's name on property he owned. Obama is not experienced enough to make the "right" decisions that he himself has said will be so important on the first day. I want Hilary's experience in the White House so the right decisions can be made from day one. It's easy to say you can make change , it's much harder to make the right changes. Please show the media that the American people are intelligent
and are not swayed by the shallowness of celebrity endorsements. Vote Hillary Clinton for a strong United States of America!

Felicia   February 5th, 2008 11:27 am ET

Anonymous   February 5th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Misogynists aside (don't take it personally Kevin), I think both candidates are really good, I wish I were a US Citizen to be able to vote

deb   February 5th, 2008 11:20 am ET

CNN, rather than cover Bill Clinton's reaction to her town hall, why not report on what Hillary SAID at the town hall? Yes, it was scripted, but she answers questions, and lays out her plans. She's not afraid to take a stand on issues, even if they are unpopular.

Obama and Hillary probaby spent roughly the same amount of money - but Obama chose a 30 second Superbowl spot that said very little, while Hillary chose to answer real questions from voters, using technology.

That says a lot.

Who is better prepared for the future? I think it is Hillary. She found a creative solution to reach her audience using a format that could only be possible today.

Hillary 2008.

Even Bill Clinton bites his nails when watching her. If she makes HIM nervous, then imagine what she does to me.

Jeri - I was at The New Jersey Town Hall and the questions were NOT PRE APPROVED!!!! I received and email from her campaign like anyone else who is a supporter of her and it said the first 100 people to respond would be invited. Then when we got there, an hour before the Town Hall we asked questions and then ALL OF US THERE voted on the top 3 questions that we liked and would ask her ONE when it was our turn if the questions were not asked before our turn. So before you go posting away..make sure you know what you are talking about.

Don't argue against women's suffrage–a lot of smart women are voting for Obama.

You just met one. ;)

vancouver-Truth   February 5th, 2008 11:16 am ET

This is a crap article! CNN you have more important things to report than this. Hillary offered a lot of information last night.

Sarah   February 5th, 2008 11:15 am ET

We are about to make history with the most educated, decisive, intelligent, caring and wonderful presidential candidate.

GO HILLARY!!! NM has got your back!

Denis, NJ   February 5th, 2008 11:15 am ET

The open bias against Hillary is disgusting.

jp/michigan   February 5th, 2008 11:14 am ET

I watched the Town Hall Meeting on the Hallmark channel last night. Hillary Clinton was excellent. She answer all the questions I had and then some I had not thought about. She diffidently has my vote when she is nominated , like she had it in the primary ( which the democratic party tried to take away from me in Michigan). I have also listened to Obamas rhetoric . Obama sells platitudes not policy.

Kristopher   February 5th, 2008 11:13 am ET

WOOOO
GO HILARY!!!

WE ARE PULLING FOR YOU!

Go Obama 2008, you'll beet McCain hands down

give us a break. Hillary is tops ,what do we really know about obama? The press doesn't tell us anything about him only Hillary,She is constantly attacked by the media, ask questions that no man is ever asked and I bet the press could tell you how many times she burps. She is intelligent and that ladies and gentlemen is what bugs the news media.
she is smarter than they are and it's killing them

I thought she was wonderful. I still don't understand why anyone would think that she would not make a wonderful President. One thing I know for sure things would get done quickley and correctly with her as our President.

kevin from alaska   February 5th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Hillary Clinton is the first convincing example I've ever seen to argue against women's suffrage.

Mendemoi   February 5th, 2008 11:01 am ET

Who is more brilliant Bill or Hill? For me, I give a bit of an edge to Hill, she is just unbelievably brilliant. She knows what she want to do for this country. That's the kind of leader our country needs. We don't need a leader like Bush whom the country may not be very proud of due to lack of experience. When Hillary opens her mouth , knowledge flows. That is America, that's how America must be represented because its a nation of brilliant human beings unlike Bush. I know this country will be proud to have her as President.

Clinton's time is up. All these pollsters are wrong, because they actually never asked to a lot of my friends like me who do not have land phones but are enthusiastic Obama supporters. You guys will be shocked at how much change the youths of these country really want. Go OBAMA!!!

Her healthcare policy is wayyyy better (see MIT study that compared hers and Obama's). That makes the decision for me…

Also interesting that the MIT study has not been featured on the networks…it just happened a few days ago.
