Sounds to me like the two parties would just rather meet without all the media frenzy.

He called both candidates to tell them he was dropping out of the race, and he'll speak to both candidates before making an endorsement, if he does at all.

if John Edwards is smart he will ask Obama to consider him for a post if he endorses his campagne because Edwards always said Hillary couldn't go against corporations because she is sponsored by them and she represents the old statusquo, so we will see what his mindset is like!

I think Hillary would fight harder for what she believes in than Obama, and I think the people that voted for Edwards are more along the lines of Hillary's supporters. Obama gets the affluent, educated, very liberal, young, and African American voters (that's what the "polls" say anyway).

From my chair Edwards is being smart and working for his constituents (the people of the US). If I were him I'd probably do the same thing. I would talk to both candidates, see what I could get out of the candidates to further my agenda, and then run with the horse that gives me the most, while not compromising personal integrity.

"Compromising personal integrity," may prove to be debateable but I think John Edwards is doing what any good political figure would/should do.

I agree with S.A. Not sure way he waited so long. I like Edwards and I supported him in the past and will support him in the future. He needed to come out for Obama weeks ago I find it hard to believe he didn't.

The Edwards endorsement , if he even does provide one, could be valuable. First of all there is a possibility that Edwards may just free his delegates. If he does endorse one of the candidates, there are the 26 Edwards delegates plus potentially his Florida delegates if the DNC want to seat Florida. In a tight race those 26+ delegates may play a role. That being said I am not sure if a slim margin of delegates, for one candidate over another, at the end of this primary process, is enough of a mandate to sway the superdelegates. It will all boil down to them. The remaining states and the unresolved issues with Michigan and Florida may be moot as it is turning out. At this point it appaears that the only way a clear candidate will emerge is if Obama makes headway in Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Its Clinton's edge in those states to lose. The superdelegates would have an awful time supporting a candidate who is clearly behind the other after the primaries.

i think this is bad news for obama. because this was going to be a slam dunk indorsement for him. i now think he is going to endorse hillary clinton because he meets with her thursday, then he meets with his advisors saturday night. the he cancels his meeting with obama monday. obamas camp can say what they want they say the meeting will still take place but they have know idea when. i think this is all spin on their part. when you look at this as a realist this is bad news for obama

I look forward to hearing what Edwards has to say ... unfortunately i don't think he will carry much weight. He didn't carry much in the earlier campaign when he was involved and so i'm not sure if he would have faded even more now.

When Edwards dropped out, I told myself that if he endorsed someone before Super Tuesday it meant that he was endorsing on principles in order to help the candidate out when it would matter the most. If he waited until after Super Tuesday, I said he would endorse the candidate with the most momentum in hopes of "getting something" out of the endorsement like a VP slot or cabinet position. I'm sort of disappointed that he dragged his feet. And this is coming from a previous Edwards supporter! With this analysis in mind, I predict he will endorse Obama, who appears to have the big MO right now.

I really don't see how Edwards could endorse Hillary after calling her the status quo candidate many times. I hope to see him endorse Obama soon, but I honestly don't think it matters. He has the momentum. He's received the most votes. He's won the most deligates. He's going to be our NEXT PRESIDENT!!!

Matters not, one way or the other; Edwards is last month's news. But while we're thinking about it, why would anyone need to "huddle" with advisors on something that should be a personal declaration. A little political triangulation on Edwards' part???? I am just amazed and disappointed at Edwards. When Giuliani dropped out, he immediately endorsed John McCain. If Edwards endorses Hillary, the little creditability he had with me will be gone. Edwards made such as fuss of labeling Hillary Clinton as the "status quo" candidate, the "Washington Insider" candidate, and the "Corporate lobby-interest" candidate throughout late 2007. Edwards's endorsement of Obama should be a no-brainer. But the longer he waits, the more irrelevant his endorsement will become. Obama in 08!

If Edwards were to endorse Hillary he would lose all credibility. Edwards has talked about returning government to the people and eliminating poverty yet Clinton is a pawn of the special interest and lobbyist who want to maintain power in the hands of a select few.

Unlike Edwards and Obama Hillary grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth and never once experienced what it was like to deal with the pressure of poverty.

Obama was raised by single mother with little to no money and he worked as a community organizer helping the poor people of Chicago so there is no question he better understands the pains of poverty more than Hillary Rodham Clinton

I hope that Edwards stays with his anti-lobbyist, anti-status quo message. If he endorses Clinton, one would be wondering what deals Clinton has got him into. In any case, his endorsement says more about who he is than about his suppoters' votes.
