We have far too many politicians and far too few statesmen, Tom Lantus was truly one of the few. He will be missed.

Christian, Tampa FL   February 11th, 2008 1:23 pm ET

That's really too bad, but at least he had a full and meaningful life and provided a great service to this nation. He will be missed.

A remarkable man with a remarkable history of helping this country. We need more like him.

What now will happen to his super delegate endorsement of Hillary Clinton? Will we have to wait for an election in his district to put someone new into office and see who they will endorse?

We are now missing someone who would know how to lead that committee. From surviving the Holocaust to serving in Congress, he has lead a remarkable life. May he be remembered well.

The House and the nation has lost a true patriot and public servant; there are few of his ilk and fewer still able to fill his shoes.

RIP, Tom. And thanks.

J Sett   February 11th, 2008 10:28 am ET

My condolences go out to his family, staff and congressional district. During a summer internship I had the pleasure of meeting Congressman Lantos and I can say he was one of the nicest politicians that I have ever met. He was well respected throughout the Hill and worked tirelessly for his consitutents. Congress would much more favorbly recieved if more U.S. representatives had the character of Congressman Lantos. I am more than positive that he will be truly missed not only by democrats but by all members of the House and U.S. Senate. Rest in Peace Congressman Tom Lantos, well done.
