(CNN) –With an eye toward upcoming primary contests on March 4–including delegate-rich Texas– Sen. Barack Obama is appealing to lower-income Hispanic voters in a new Spanish-language radio ad released in the state Tuesday.

"Barack Obama is talking to me," says the announcer in Spanish. "He's faced many of the same challenges that we've faced in my family."

The sixty-second ad highlights Obama's "hard work" that helped him rise from humble beginnings and eventually attend Harvard Law School.

"And instead of accepting job offers that paid a lot of money, Obama decided to work with churches, giving a helping hand to those less fortunate in his community," the ad says.

Meanwhile, Sen. Hillary Clinton flew to El Paso for a campaign stop Tuesday as voters were still casting ballots in the Potomac primary.

In Texas, Clinton is counting on strong support from Hispanic voters, a group that has reliably turned out for her in the past. But after campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle — a Mexican-American — was ousted as campaign manager this weekend, some Hispanics are voicing objections.

"Hillary Clinton's campaign is in trouble and the highest-ranking Hispanic in her camp is paying the price," wrote the editorial staff of El Diario, a daily Spanish newspaper based in New York. "Clinton has worked hard for the Hispanic votes she has gained so far in this tight race, and it would be a mistake to risk alienating that base."

UPDATE: The Clinton campaign is releasing a radio advertisement aimed towards Hispanic voters in Texas that proclaims "Hillary is our friend,” and promotes the candidate's plan for universal health care.

"She respects our culture and understands the problems that affect our community," an announcer says in the thirty-second ad, which has been used to target Hispanics in previous primary contests. "Let's vote for Hillary…and we will have a better life."

OBAMA for President

Boo   February 12th, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Marie- I agree with you. Hillary is all show.
Frank please have a life- Texas for Obama our Hero!!!!

Zach   February 12th, 2008 9:04 pm ET

I didnt realize you could switch your campaign manager out just like a relief pitcher just because your losing. Clinton treats this campaign as some sort of game, give me a break we need to recover after Bush, not screw around.

Luke V.   February 12th, 2008 8:58 pm ET

@ Angela
You go girl! I was happy to see your long post. I hope my short post questioning Barack's honesty makes the cut, but as you say CNN seems to be highly biased toward Barack O. "We be X-Pats" in Europe and we are voting the Hillary ticket even if we have to write in the vote. Go Hillary!

Ruth Willis   February 12th, 2008 8:48 pm ET

I am voting for Hillary, she is honest about the condition of our country. It takes
more than a president to make the changes, that are needed, a president is only as successful as the support they get from the senate and the legislature. Barak Obama, I believe is a good man, I believe that change can be
good, but what is he wanting to change?
I am voting for Hillary, I believe she can lead us in the direction we need to go.

LATINA in NJ   February 12th, 2008 8:41 pm ET

I am reading all these comments and NOT once has anyone said what Hillary has done for the Latino community. One Latino says Hillary is wonderful, the next says she has done so much.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT HILLARY HAS DONE FOR ME?

Obama plans on giving a $4000 tution incentive to every college student that gives back to the community. I AM SO IN!!!!!!!! Now that is giving back to the hispanic community. Check out The Census and the number of hispanics that have anything higher than a Bachelor's Degree…..we should be ashamed of ourselves!

VOTE OBAMA HE WILL HELP US HISPANICS AND EVERY COLLEGE STUDENT GET THE EDUCATION WE NEED TO BE LEADERS IN OUR COMMUNITIES LIKE HIM.

Pia   February 12th, 2008 8:39 pm ET

It's now time for Hillary Clinton to step aside. Go home Hillary!

RJB2   February 12th, 2008 8:34 pm ET

Just a little observation.

Both Hillary and Obama talk about bring people together for change

Well…what I see is this…

Obama is getting votes from Dems, Indies and moderate republicans

Hillary just said that the States Obama won she does not care about
States that she said that normally will not go to the Dems
This may have been true but Obama is getting their support now
Obama said he is to reach across the aisle, and he is doing it
Whereas Hillary is alienating, ignoring and disregarding
Hillary is showing what so many people say about her that she is very divisive

So who is walking the walk…And who is just talking

It is plain to see to me…and to everyone…I hope

CHERYL   February 12th, 2008 8:33 pm ET

OBAMA WAS NOT THERE FOR OVER 100 VOTES!

SO HE SHOWED UP TODAY BIG DEAL!

THAT WILL NOT MAKE HIM A WINNER!

REPUBLICANS WILL RUIN HIM!

BUT THEY CANNOT DO IT TO HILLARY! SHE IS TOO TOUGH!

WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!

dallas resident   February 12th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

I can get inspired at Church. I want leadership and the ABILITY to get things done. My vote is for Hillary.

Gail   February 12th, 2008 8:22 pm ET

Now who is playing the race card? CNN can try to alientate the hispanic vote from Hillary, and nary a sound about it. Come on, Texas! Let's get behind the person who really cares. I'm tired of overdone generalizations. Here is a woman who has devoted her life to children, health care for everyone, and the betterment of this country.

Drose   February 12th, 2008 8:19 pm ET

Hillary the Hope of 08- NOT!!!!

It's amazing that she didn't even try to run for the Senate is her own home state. She knew that they knew her much to well. Hillary cares about the Hispanics all the way to the voting booth. Not a step further. You've got to be stupid or niave to think that Patti Solis Doyle stepped down on her own. All the analysts around the country know that she got fired. The only reason she is still on the campaign is that there would be such a back lash from the Hispanic voters in Texas that Hillary would have to get a ladder just to climb up to see daylight. Wake up AWARE and be aware that you're riding on a DEAD horse.

Ryan from New Mexico   February 12th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

lol so what do these Ultra-Liberal wackos who are voting for Obama, dont they realize lol the people who the Democratic party need to help are Moderates like me???

Great if Obama wins it'll ensure a Republican Victory

THANKS YOU LIBERALS, YOU HIGH JACKED THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND AMERICA IS GOING TO SUFFER FOR IT

Clinton i old school, we need new school

Paul   February 12th, 2008 8:13 pm ET

I read a quote from Patti Solis Doyle, and she said basically it was her decision to step down and that she is going to still be on the campaign with Hillary Clinton and be an advisor. Please, report the whole story, not just what you want people to read.

Donna, Antioch TN   February 12th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

I am totally disappointed in the women of this country. Don't they know that we need them to step up and help elect HRC. The blacks are supporting BO and I find that wonderful. Women never cease to amaze me. They forget the struggle that we have been through. I remember it all. Do a little research before you decide not to vote for HRC. She is a wonderful example of how far we women have come.

TexasMom   February 12th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

David in Dallas Tx,

If indeed you ARE a black male, which I seriously doubt, I hope that you can have the AUDACITY TO HOPE that someone like you can lead the nation. We are living in a multicultural world.
If Obama were white, Asian or Hispanic I would still vote for him. It is not about his race , but his message.

Hillary All the Way   February 12th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

David in Dallas, thank you, really refreshing to hear. I'm a white male and a business owner. I am wholeheartedly with you. You just took the words right out of mouth. Hillary has a proven record of success just like Bill does. She is ready to lead, knows exactly what she is talking about and why, she has the depth Obama seriously lacks. When Hillary talks, in comparison, she actually has a solid plan on every issue. I am so very tired of hearing Obama give his rah rah cheerleader speech with no real plan of action to seriously actually do anything. I also do not trust him with the way he has lied about his 17 year relationship with Rezko the slum landlord.of Chicago. What we are seeing is a slick lawyer lay down his case with alot of colorful words and in his very own twisted ideology "saying and doing anything to get elected" Obama is the one doing that. I would not vote for him either if he were to win, not now that I have seen how he operates, as a Democrat I am beyond insulted over what he has done to smear the Clinton legacy too, comapring them to the Bush years of "the past" ? No, Obama crossed the line with me on that one and everyone I know, who will all be voting for Hillary.

Hillary All the Way Texas!!

War Eagle   February 12th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

The idea that demographics such as race and gender determines which candidate to vote for will do nothing but divide the democratic party. I urge people to vote based on their own personal beliefs rather than how they are expected to vote. A divided party will give the republicans a leg up, no matter who gets the nomination.

Mitchell Huckabee   February 12th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

YES YOU CAN make a difference! GO VOTE!

John, CO   February 12th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

I've gotta side with Brandy on this one.

Let's be honest here.

Black voters are with Obama because he is black.

Latino voters are with Clinton because she is not.

White men are with Obama because he is a man.

White women are with Clinton because she is a woman.

Johnny   February 12th, 2008 7:51 pm ET

It is not a fair race for a lady , all the stet Obama win is majority of African-American, I feel sad about it

Nancy in WA   February 12th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Jerome writes:
Black people are voting for Obama because he is black. "

Yet another false accusation. When this race started Barack was clearly way behind in the African American community with support and Hillary way ahead.

Since then Barack has be able to get his message out and has earn the African American support.
But what do I know? I’m just a mindless African American that supported Hillary Clinton.

Jerome Obama was behind because the blacks did not think that he could win that is why he was behind and the TV networks news media put him on a pedestal because he was black and they did not like the Clintons and when Obama first came out that he was running then why did the black populas say that he was not black enough?

Sherri   February 12th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Chris i could not agree with you more. I have said that when you watch him talk he stands in front of a podium most of the time like he is reading off a teleprompter. I don't think he looks approchable when he stands in front of a podium like he can't be touched and does not want to be out with the people, like just listen to me don't get too close.

Mary   February 12th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

DUMP OBAMA IN MARCH. It's up to you Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. We don't need a salesman as the nominee, someone who has to exploit Clinton's political history to define his own. Someone who has to rely on race to get elected, someone who packages himself as the new and improved brand of politician by hyping change. This is a leader? Sounds more like an advertisment.

Michael Wilson   February 12th, 2008 7:41 pm ET

If you have to be a citizen to vote and you have to speak English to be a citizen, why are there signs in Spanish at election sites and on radio stations? I have also seen signs in Spanish directing "citizens" where to vote, such as "Vota Aqui"!!

This country no longer cares about what is right and wrong, it cares about image and what is cool and what is not.

Continue making your decisions with anything else but your head and your reason.

Society has disappointed me, and the American experiment is becoming a failure at your own hands.

Lisa   February 12th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

It's just ashame that in a presidential election such as this people are behaving so petty,we owe this to our country as our patriacoly duty, this is should not be a black thing ,and all around the world I fell that it is,I'm very much black and I'm not voting for obama because he is I'm voting for hillary because she is much more qualified .

janet   February 12th, 2008 7:30 pm ET

I don't know what planet your on. If Hillary wins the primary the republicans will rally against her. Republicans HATE Bill Clinton, personally I thought he was a good president but a horrible husband. They will drag up all the dirt on both of them again and republicans and independants will run from her. The animosity that exists between our parties right now is tearing this country apart….
Obama promises change. What kind of change? The promise to work with republicans to resolve issues. HUGE CHANGE!Hillary stated in her last debate that if she was elected she would force republicans to work with her….Good luck with that. What kind of mess would we have in Washington between the republicans and the democrats in 2013?
P.S.-three men I work with that have been staunch republicans are first time democratic voters for Obama…..think about it

US Navy Vietnam Vet   February 12th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

To Senator Obama supporters………please think of this:

I feel that the voters who look to Senator Obama for change are totally mislead….down the yellow brick road. He is a very good politician. I will give you an example: his healthcare proposal is with no change from what we have right now. We have millions with no insurance and we will continue to have millions with no insurance.

Too bad the voters over the weekend and today bought the hook, line, and sinker…………Senator Obama does not represent change! He represents the same ol - same ol stuff with a different spin. It is how he got some of the Kennedys and Kerry.

Wake up America - Senator Obama sings a good line but he cannot deliver! We need Hillary Clinton for the White House! Not a pipe dreamer!

I would love to hear how Senator Obama's healthcare plan is different than what we now have here in the US. I have read his proposal on his site. Still shows millions uninsured and on the taxpayers dime. That is NOT CHANGE - it is more of the same with candy coated words.

Go with a leader who has proven time and time again to be strong, intelligent, and can beat the Republicans for the Democratic Party and all of us.

Dennis Clark   February 12th, 2008 7:28 pm ET

To David Dallas TX. I'am a young black male with several degrees, from Tennessee so what. It's not about that. It's about someone who can unite people no matter what race, color, Religon. If you are so smart why not post something positive Hillary has done for all the people. Yes, I will vote for John McCain If Hillary is nominated she can't WIN!!! Do YOUR HOMEWORK!

Mike from Austin, TX   February 12th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

To all of my fellow Latinos who insist on voting for Hillary because "she's done so much for us", I have one question: can you name some of those things?

I didn't think so.

Neither Hillary nor Barack are from humble beginnings, and they're both politicians. The choice boils down to who is more honorable and trustworthy, and if you think that person is a Clinton (either Bill or Hillary), you're fooling yourself.

Barack has his flaws, but I can't think of a single reason I should vote for Hillary over him. She's done little to nothing for African-Americans or Latinos, other than pay lip service to their concerns. And as her campaign has shown, she's a two-faced, ruthless career politician who's trying to form a political family dynasty, just like her husband. Barack's a relative newcomer, true, but I'll take my chances with him anyday over the Hillary I know.

RRH   February 12th, 2008 7:22 pm ET

I am very hopeful Senator Clinton can win Texas, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Every time the media knocks her, people who see the unfairness will gravitate to her. I also think people under estimate Senator Clinton. The coverage has all but declared Obama the nominee. Hold on folks, we have a way to go before we corinate a winner.
Texas is very republican territory and if Hillary can take a sizable chunk of votes, to her credit she may turn the red state blue again. I hope she pulls it off.

Disgusted   February 12th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Hillary Clinton will do whatever it takes to win. I smell Saudi oil money just like with Bush. Don't bring this family back into the White House! The lobbyists will have her back in their pockets.

kwame   February 12th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

DAVID, I AGREE WITH YOU. . I MA ALSO A YOUNG BLACK MALE, CPA OF AFRICAN HERITAGE LIKE OBAMA. I WILL SAY THAT BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA CANNOT WIN A GENERAL ELECTION IN THE US. A CANDIDATE WHO WILL GIVE DRIVERS LICENCES TO ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS WILL NOT WIN A GENERAL ELECTION. HE WILL LOSE IN NEW YORK STATE. MACCAIN WILL WIN NEW YORK

John   February 12th, 2008 7:20 pm ET

David from Dallas,

Thank you for putting it into words, I could not have said it better.
I too am getting overwhelmed by the Obama-mania.

Yes, we can
A movement
Hope
Change

I went on Obama's site, and the plans are very high level, with lots of inspiration and charisma, sounds nice but light on details. I am for Hillary as well, and think despite the daily "polls" - that she is the better, more prepared candidate at this time.

andy   February 12th, 2008 7:16 pm ET

I have tried to Blog and CNN stops me ! why? because I support Hillary clinton and I speak the truth of Latinos and ho w they will vote in Texas ?Dang and who ever is putting the data up and saying Sen Obama is making huge in roads with latinos is so wrong ! and if your not latino do not say this and that we know are community and I wish CNN would have Latinos speaking for us and not whites and Black when the comment.

Ryan, Los Angeles   February 12th, 2008 7:12 pm ET

I'm so sick of people that say the media is out to get Hillary.

Doesn't anyone remember that the Republicans call CNN (and still do) the Clinton News Network??

Our party has a wonderful dilemma - we have TWO GREAT CANDIDATES. I've already voted for my choice, but will support whoever wins the most "pledged" delegates.

Veronica Ward   February 12th, 2008 7:11 pm ET

Hillary didn't show up to vote? OH MY GOODNESS!!

How can she say that Obama only voted "Present" in the seante but then turn around and NOT VOTE AT ALL. All of the senators were in Washington, so that's no excuse. She had Bill there on the stump for her, so why couldn't she take the time out to vote?

She's a hypocrite!

GO OBAMA!

A True Democrat   February 12th, 2008 7:09 pm ET

what do you expect the candidates to do in an election race. both are doing what's normal. however, what's not normal is the phoneyness from all you bloggers, pretending to be who your not, bashing both candidates, it is pretty shameful. you need to concentrate on how best to get the democrates into and back to the white house. don't you think republicans read these blogs? i read theirs. they feed on this . vote for who you want, and don't cross party lines because you don't like the other. i am voting for hillary AND if obama wins i'll vote for him.

TJ WILLIAMS, Los Angeles, CA   February 12th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

GO OBama!!!

"Andrew February 12, 2008 3:57 pm ET
Barack Obama went to the one of the oldest and most prestigious prep schools in the United States (Punahou School in Honolulu) before attending Occidental College and Columbia University.
He is not from humble beginnings."

This is a silly statement. I am a single mother. My daughter went to Private School straight thru college. I have worked (many times 2 jobs) all my life and I drive a 15 year old car. I don't own a home and have made immeasureable sacrafices for my daughter's education. It's all I could give her. I am 55 and STILL working to give her a leg up so she won't have to go thru what I did. Until you do the same you should not question the honesty of someone's "humble beginnings". If someone met my daughter they would never know just how little she grew up with. That's the point! To have your child do better than you.

Find another way to try to slander Senator Obama…this one is just ignorant.

Miguel   February 12th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Way to go CNN, play up the Solis thing as an issue - NOT!
Solis is still part of the campaign as a senior advisor.
How much has Obama paid you to endorse everything he does and says.

Gee and I thought yellow journalism and muck raking were something I read about in the history books under Hearst and Ida Tarbell!

Don;t be swayed by CNN and the other media trying to slant everything to Obama

Vote HIllary in08

Jeremi   February 12th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

I agree with you,

Aware writer:

Not to put down the other candidate down because he is real good as well, but I think if Hillary looses her votes it will be a hack job like you said. Something else that I want to say is that votes are easier to hack now that it is done by personal computers and electronic machines. I trust and still like the old traditional way. That would be going in person and filling out the ballot for which a person wants to vote. There has been too many vote miscounts and computer networks failinng when a candidate is running for office. What do you all people think??

CA boomer for CHANGE   February 12th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

Hey Latinos…
I live in an area of CA that has one of the highest concentrations of Latinos. Latino issues are "American" issues…no one president can do anything specifically "for" you any more than Hillary being a white woman would translate into her doing anything "specifically" "for" white women like me. An American president is not a dictator or a monarch. Ms. Clinton had 8 years to effect the healthcare problems of this country…and even with her husband as president, was unsuccessful. "Divide and conquer" has been the mantra of the current administration…and we lost the election in 2000 and 2004. We are all Americans and will all do better together, when we are all UNITED! We have more in common than we have diifferences…each of us can advocate for the other.

That's Barack Obama's message and history poves it out. I haven't noticed him promising to better any one ethnic group's lot over another….and that is being "honest"…. Do not let yourselves be used or your votes be taken for granted. There is power in numbers, and our numbers are greater when we unite together as Americans to affect CHANGE.

emeka mbonu   February 12th, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Obama will certainly lose the election if he wins the nomination. He is all rhetoric and no substance. It is the Democrats loss if Hillary loses the nomination. The Clintons have been great for the country especially to blacks and hispanics. What do they get in return? a big sharp knife in the back.

Claud   February 12th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

Maybe the Latinos in Illinois are not real "Latinos" They voted for Obama!

Robert   February 12th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

I may vote for the first republican since I started voting when Carter was president. If Obama wins, I'm going for McCain. Anyone that shows up for a vote and just votes present as Obama did as a State Legislature in mind is not doing their job. He ws elected to represent his constituents. He should have voted every time he was present for what was in his constituents best interest. His being present helped them none at all. VOtes are counted and decisions fall with the majority just being there and not casting one way or the other is as good as staying home and missing the vote.

htp   February 12th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

Nelson,
You are right on the note. We do not need Saint Obama.

JohnS   February 12th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

This is one black man with a PhD and strong common sense that will NEVER vote for the Clintons again. I strongly believe that our leaders should bring us "moral" (not only economic) directives, interpersonal strength, and hope for this nation to move along with the rest of the world (and the global market)!!

Tico   February 12th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

The Hispanics in Chicago back Obama! Not because he is Black, but because Obama respects them AND has help them. The media talks of the Whites vs Blacks, the Blacks vs the Latino, and on and on and on. There are only TWO colors. People with the money, Green. And people without the money. Obama has fought for the people without the money.. and that is why he has earn the respect and votes from those of ALL colors without the money. Vaya Obama! Vaya Obama!

Walt, Belton,TX   February 12th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

I'll vote in the Democratic primaries for Obama just in case John McCain doesn't win the Presidential election. That way I'm doing my part to make sure someone at least reasonable and not a Clinton will be in the White House. Another Clinton is inviting disaster.

katey   February 12th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

Of course they are pandering to the large Latino vote. Why do you think they didn't do anything about illegal immagration? They are waiting until after the election.
A fast growing voting block out there.
Bill is out there now calling Hillary the underdog. Ha. Looking for sympathy again?
Looks like Obama will get WI the 19th. hardly a black/latino state. Must be those educated white men again. ha.

ramesh   February 12th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

It doesn't matter who gets the nomination, they both have republican blood. One of them a convert, the other was unaware until recently. So, the bottom line is we will have a republican president.

Sharon Ammons   February 12th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

I don't understand why Latino's think there vote is more important than anyone else. They have no chance of getting anything they want on immigration with the Republicans. If they want business as usual, then go ahead and vote for John McCain. The only real hope you have is to vote Democrat. You have two great candidates to choose from.

Fay Zeman   February 12th, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Hillary must point out Obama's weakness in not voting over 100 times as a
Ill. State Rep. If you don't make a decision, you cant be wrong. What if he sits on his hands 20% of the time as president, God knows what he might get us into, or leave us vulnerable to. We need a person who is not afraid to make a decision.
Hillary acted on intelligence given to her by those whose job it is to know, too bad the Republicans lied and she gets blamed for starting a war. What a Crock.

Fay Sims   February 12th, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Why are all these Hillary supporters making this into a race issue. When he wins a southern state it's always because the "black people" helped him win. Blacks are not just voting for him because he's black. We're way smarter than that. I'm black and before I decided to support him I watched him speak and studied up on the issues. Maybe, just maybe, african americans are thinking for themselves. He is truly trying to unite the races. White, black, asian, latino and everyone in between. For some reason, Hillary Clinton keeps trying to divide the races. Texans for Obama!!!

Carrie   February 12th, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Obama will win!

Hillary for President   February 12th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

David in Dallas TX, thank you for keeping it real. You are so right.

Latinlady   February 12th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

When will we latins learn??? I guess never huh. Was it Hitlary's people who led the pathway to the rights that we now have today? I think not. How quickly my people forget that we also benefitted from the efforts of the blacks marching and protesting during the civil rights movement. How come it seems that black organizations like the NAACP will include other minorities as well as blacks when it comes to fighting for equal rights. I have never in my latin life seen any of mi hermanas and hermanos include or mention black folks when it comes to us organizing for human rights, we selfishly concern ourselves with latino issues only, forgetting that blacks included all minorities in the plight for equal rights. Get it together latinos, know who you truly are and know who'll be on your side…it surely wont be white people. We owe the Clintons nothing!

Latinos for OBAMA!

Dani   February 12th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

I am in Texas, from Texas, and can tell you I would never in a million years if someone paid me vote for Obama, never. The guy is so full of hype it is unreal. The so called movement he has started in my opinion will only further the economic landslide we already have and will inhibit any true resolution to the healthcare crisis our nation faces. That's not the kind of change I want. Hillary has my vote all the way. Obama is a preacher, not a leader who can really deliver on the change. He is all talk and will more than likely be little action judging from the way he votes "present." That serves to show his indecisive nature and lack of ability to deliver on making any real changes. He has never defined the changes he would make and never defined how he would deliver on his message of hope. My hope is that people will wake up and realize talk is cheap, mistakes are costly and we all pay the price in the end.

Jim Pear   February 12th, 2008 6:27 pm ET

Hillary was supposed to be @ work today voting in the senate - instead she was in Texas - why have a pres. that feels her personal agenda takes stage over her real job?

David Dallas TX   February 12th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

The Obamanians, Obamaniacs, the Obamedia, etc. are tripping me out. I am a young black male with a Phd and I will be voting for Hillary Clinton. Obama is all talk and no action. All he talks about is hope, change, and yes we can. Give me a break man. Im getting tired of hearing it. One of my friends came to me and told me to join the movement. I looked at him like he was crazy. He must have caught the Obama-Bug. If Obama is nominated, I will vote for McCain or not vote at all. Obama cannot win all of the states in the General Election that he won in the primaries. Those states that he won are mostly republican states. New York , Florida, Michigan, Texas, Ohio, and California will vote against Obama in the General Election. There is no way that he will win. Just keeping it real.

As a Latino in Texas, I am not swayed one bit by the Obama camp. Nor am I swayed by the votes coming our ot the Virginia, Maryland, DC primaries. In a small sample that I've taken from other Latinos, I don't see the Latino vote going to Obama. What's important to Latinos are REAL plans with REAL agendas on how to fix America's problems. All that we have heard from him in his speeches are nothing more than rhetoric and empty plans. That won't convince Latinos one bit. Believe me, Latinos, especially in Texas, know that Obama is not real. He WON'T win our vote!

Universal Health Care my foot…More like Universal Health Mandate!!

Health care for everyone sounds like a great idea, but not when it is mandatory…and especially not when you are going to get fined for not having it.

well i suppose the kind of candidate some people want is someone who will not release her tax receipts so the American people can see where she got the 5 million to loan her campaign, she says she will only release it after the campaign, whats she got to hide? she has been losing ground with african-Americans and so she fires her latino campaign manager and hires an african-American instead! well she cant be trusted to keep her hubby under control, she cannot be trusted to even run a half-decent campaign against a "junior senator" her managerial and communication skills are poor! well i urge all latinos/hispanics to join the obama campaign, its a campaign by Americans and funded by Americans!

Elsa-So in other words, you're for a candidate who encourges people to break the law? If the illegals in this country want to become citizens, then do it thew legal way. Apply for it and wait your turn. Giving the cilhdren of illegals the chance to go to college in the US? If that is what Obama and even Clinton advocate, then this country truly is doomed. Don't worry, I firmly believe that McCain's amnesty idea is just a ploy to get the hispanic vote. God help the United States of America!

Steven Pertusati   February 12th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Hillary Rodham Clinton is indeed the most qualified candidate to become our next President. What will all the Obama supporters do when he fails miserably if elected, who will they turn to then? If Clinton is denied the nomination after the democrats turn their ungrateful backs on her for all she and her husband have done for them over the years, they deserve the failure they get out of Obama. I am a democrat who will be voting republican in November if Obama is the democratic nominee. I and many other Clinton supporters will not automatically vote for Obama as he and his supporters believe. Shame on all of you for deserting Clinton.

Mark   February 12th, 2008 6:04 pm ET

Why is there no memory of Whitewater and abuse of power from the first era of Clinton? I am not saying that Obama is the answer, and I am not saying that Clinton is not, but memories are selective. As selective as the pandering from state to state, leaving behind empty promises and shattered expectations.

For those of you who will be voting in the primaries in Texas and Ohio, please consider this:
Polls project OBAMA beats McCain in a Presidential race, and HILLARY loses. Why? Ask Republicans who they consider is the better candidate and which one they believe they can beat. They will say time and time again they can beat Hillary and fear OBAMA. Hillary polarizes Americans… and that is more of the same thing we got since the GOP started the contract with America. Polarization will not bring the Dems to power in 08. In fact, moderate voters will ultimately decide the fate of the election, not ultra conservatives and liberals. Don't choose betwen Hillary and Obama… choose between a democrat who can beat McCain and bring bipartisan unity to the nation.

How about you Obama supporters explain where Obama was when the important vote on Iran took place? In fact explain he voting record in the state senate as well. He has missed 1/3 of all votes in the US SENATE. How can he claim to be the best choice, encourage us all to be sure and vote, when he is absent a 1/3 of the time? He injects race into ever speech he makes, "the urgency of now." He mentions MLK or JFK in every Rally he has. He is now turning to hispanics with, yes we can, in Spanish. How to say, yes we can, in any language is his forte.

The Clintons have a bad history with the republicans and will unite them in bringing down the Clintons. To think this government will move foward with another Clinton is a huge mistake. 12yrs with the Bush famliy and 8 yrs with the Clinton family is enough.

From what I hear, Obama leans more toward his intellectual-equals base than the other bases, including African Americans and Latinos. That's why he courts the Republicans and Independents.

AMH   February 12th, 2008 5:45 pm ET

Seriously, do some of you people really think that Sen. Clinton replaced Solis Doyle with Maggie Williams to court the black vote? That would mean then that the average voter casts their vote based on the ethnicity of the candidate's campaign manager, not the cadidate. Ridiculous. So many of the Obama supporters seem to feel an unreasonable need to demonize HIllary Clinton. Sure begs the question whether they feel that their candidate can't win on his own merits. Also, to all the people who keep talking about Obama pulling himself up from humble roots - it's a great story but not entirely true. Obama had a privileged childhood - he attended Punahou School (a private prep school), Columbia University and Harvard Law. Wonderful for him that he had these great opportunities but let's tell it like it is - he didn't exactly grow up poor.

Lee   February 12th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Annie - Obama has NEVER lived the life many latinos/hispancis have lived and have to live.
He does not even understand how most black live - he is just getting their vote simply because he is black. Call that a race card if you want.

Hillary and Bill too have been very sensitive to the issues that affect latinos/hispanics as a group and as Americans. She will be the one that stands up for them and for Maria up at the top, I feel sorry for you - you are a woman and a Latino and you have no idea what a poor choice you are making for you and your people.
I urge you to reconsider and look at the past issues related to latinos by both candidates - then it will be glaringly clear why your elders are sticking behind Hillary.

Hillary all the way. Women need to stand strong.

Bob   February 12th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Obama reminds me of McCarthy . I was a college student during the Vietnam era. I see that drama repeating. Obama has formed a coalition of the wine-sipping liberals and African-Americans and they are trying to derail the nomination of HRC who is the most eligible candidate in this election. Even if HRC gets the nomination, she will be in trouble like what happened to Humphry. In fact, Obama is more liberal than any one I can remember. If Obama wins the nomination, it will take another 20 yrs to recover from that shock. We are still trying to recover from the Carter era.

Texas we are counting on you to vote for the only person in this race that has a chance of winning…Hillary! Take a look at what she has done, not her husband or the crap that the republicans have thrown at her, but her accomplishments. She has foreign policy experience which apparently has become unimportant in this campaign since Obama has absolutely NONE! She has the connections and know-how to bring us back into good standing in the world and to keep us safe. He has no clue how to do that!! Hillary 08.

Gotta hand it to Obama and his campaign. They hire all of these "paid" bloggers to post in spanish in order to create a false sense of shift within the Latin community. Guess what? Most of us will not fall for this charade. Oh, by the way - Hillary supporters are Latinos and also are educated. And we are voting for her not because of her color, but because of her credentials!

Angela   February 12th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

I can't beleive what I am reading here, you are all going after hillary clinton because of a change in campaign manager, it doesn't matter what race her previous campaigner manager was or what race her current campaign manger is. barak Obama doesn't care about the issues if you did some research inc on his website the ideas are either a poor version of Hillary clintons or extremely vague, if he was so concerned about the poor etc then he should have bothered to actually be present for more than a third of the votes in the senate. he has been campaiging for the Presidency from the day he set foot in the senate. He has little foreign policy experience - how can you be in charge of the senate committee on europe - have no meetings and don't even bother to go to Europe, he was on the veterans affairs committe - didn't attend most of the meetings and missed most of the votes.

As for Iraq I was also against the war but people need to realise that there is a carrot and stick approach the legislation that hillary clinton voted on authorized inspections and as a last resort war, no one believed that george bush wouldn't allow the inspectors to finish their work - he didn't even tell tony Blair until the bombing began. Senator Obama can talk all he wants that he did a speech against the war but he was not in the position that Hillary Clinton was in, her state had been attacked, the majority of the public wanted to go to war - even french fries were renamed freedom fries to Frances position.

As for the promises he is making about changing Washington that is just a pipe dream, he may say that he is not taking lobbyists money but he is taking it from their family members, employees etc. he has surrounded himself with the old guard of Washington as they know that he will be easily manipulated into doing their bidding. Washington senators, congressman, lobbyists etc are not going to change their ways because he says so.

for the people complaining the hillary will enforce mandatory healthcare and that it will cost you money if you don't try looking at obamas plan, if you have children he will make it mandatory that you provide health insurance which will be inforced. Senator obama talks a good talk but he has no clue on the issues, his speeches are the same over and over change, hope, unity, whilst on the other hand denegrating his opponent in every speech, when Hillary clinton speaks she talks about the issues and her plans, she doesn't talk about senator obama.

As you can see from the boards if this is unity then america is in a lot of trouble all I read is hatred, instead of talking about the issues people are just being insulting.

A lot of the people on these boards are giving the world a bad impression on Americans, look at the issues, see how the candidates plans will affect your lives and make an informed choice. Not based on a change of personnel or I think Obama knows where I am coming from because of where he came from, what has he done with the opportunities he has been given, did he faithfully represent the people that put him into the senate? Will his ideas help you, look below the surface. The republicans and media are for obama because they know that the issues will be homeland security, economy etc both of which he is weak on.

Please remember that whoever gets the nomination will be in charge of the worlds only superpower, who do you trust to make an informed decision whilst sitting in the situation room, some one who has met with and worked with world leaders, and sat on the senate armed services committee or someone with 4 years of living in another country when they were a child as their only foreign policy experience.

To CNN: why don't you print my comments, everytime I make comments using facts not insults or lies my comments do not get printed - what are you afraid off? we all know that obama is your choice

MM in TX   February 12th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

During Bill Clinton's 8 years in office he had 366 federal judicial appointments, 104 were women, 23 Hispanic, 5 Asian American, 1 Native American, and 61 African American. (One of these appointments includes Bill Richardson.)

These numbers speak for themselves.

Others talk about diversity but Bill and Hillary have actually been doing something about it.

As a Hispanic, I will proudly vote for Hillary during the Texas primary. I won't ask any other Hispanic to do same, I would simply tell you…look at the numbers.

Rusty   February 12th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Clinton's campaign manager stepped down for family reasons. She had been in that head position for a year now and needed to tend to her child. CNN - please don't start printing biased articles like MSNBC. I stopped watching all NBC programming because of the mud slinging at Clinton. Please treat all candidates the same!!
As far as Texas goes - I know my home state will vote with their heart and they know that Clinton is the right choice for our country right now. Obama is great and I hope to vote for him one day for President, but he needs more years of experience. Hillary is the right choice at it's the right time! Go Texas!!!!

African Americans are NOT voting for Obama because HE IS A BLACK MAN. The facts are clear– Bill insulted or abused his African American supporters.

Will any Latino/Latina be out there trying to vote for Hillary if Bill had lashed out some nasty insults on their race?

It would be wise for Latino/Latina minorities to join forces with Obama in stopping the Clintons from dividing this nation apart by race, gender, scandals etc. Hillary has no intentions of doing anythinh special for the Latino/Latina community, if she even ever gets to be president!! This is ONE independent that will never vote for the Clintons; I will be helping the Democrats to "sacrifce" the "soul" of their party!! I am NOT suicidal folks.

I cannot understand why it is always excuses why Hillary is losing her powerful position and after today will be behind in all delegate counts. Ask yourself why she is adopting the Rudy G. approach of conceding states to concentrate on the "bigger" states? That did not work so well for him. The Hillary supporters want to blame the media….yet CNN has from day one had in her in the lead and promoting her as front-runner with these ficticious superdelegate numbers. CNN has promoted Bill and Hillary since '92! So enough of the excuses!

She had great numbers with the African-American vote until Bill cracked on Barack in South Carolina….now he is garnishing 80% of the vote.

He took more states in Super Tuesday because of the strategy of concentrating on the "big" states, and she won the delegate numbers…barely. Now she is paying for it by probably losing the rest of the primaries and caucuses in February.

She is downplaying momentum…yet Obama made up huge deficits and has instead now winning by huge numbers…in mostly WHITE states. Male voters are now going to him.

It is Texas and Ohio…..she has to win them both, and win them by the 10% margin…or it is over. Superdelegates will move their support, and more and more Americans will continue to support with money and votes to Obama.

Obama is closing in fast here in Texas….Clinton supporters better get out and "find your voice" or the end will be closer than you think!

Obama for hope and change…..and that is not rhetoric…..he actually believes it and so do I!

Of course, the argument of "EL DIARIO" incurs in the same dangerous misconception that Hillary did wrong in firing Ms. SOLIS because she is
Hispanic, abstracting her lack of performance.

What in firts place was wrong that she has employed her, as many other, mainly
because she is a women and Hispanic !!
WHAT IN FIRST PLACE WAS WRONG THAT SHE HIRED HER, A MANY OTHER<
MAINLY BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN AND HISPANIC !! Would she apply the same

It amazes me how one latino, speaks for all latino. Is the latino vote so simple that it lacks the sophistication of seeing beyond their own interest? This campaign is not about Obama or Clinton. It is about people who are united in a cause that makes us a nation stronger than the selfishness that divides us. The issue here is leadership that we haven't seen in Washington for a very long time. Latino, Hillary is not Bill! Let's stay focused people!!!!!

Obama is not about helping people and reaching out. His record does speak for it self. He bashes Hillary for supporting the war and then changing her mind. Yet Kerry did the same thing and he is proud to have him on his side. Give me a break. Obama can play sweet and nice all he wants. He is no different than any other person running for office. He has not had to be on the hot seat yet. When it happens and it will happen you will see a different side of him.

I all ready know Hillary can be a *itch.

My vote counts: Hillary 2008

Again, are white voters and politicians so intimidated by a viable black candidate that race is the only issue they have? Every time Obama wins, oh its race. Well, please explain states such as Maine and Colorado (just to name a few) where the population is not overwhelmingly black. Is it because……HE'S THE BEST CANDIDATE. Take a deep breathe, I know that Obama actually being qualified is a blow to many egos everywhere, but you'll get over it. To further explain the Obama phenomenon, please refer back to the posts by Crystal and Wayne from Texas.

So, in my opinion the clintons were horrible to the hispanic community. So seriously, can anyone tell me something that the clintons have done to help the hispanic community?

Maria: Thank you

I am bi-racial, being both Latino and African American, and Hillary Clinton has tried to play my people short. She is constantly trying to remind us what she has done for us. I guess if it hadn't of been for Hillary Clinton (according to her), we would have just perished. Oh what is us gon' do?

People from her own camp have already leaked the fact that Hillary has not been happy with Solis since before Super Tuesday. She had even created a divide in her camp, having some report to Patti and some to Maggi. This had to be a terrible blow to Patti's confidence and I don't blame her for quitting. Sure she will report that Patti is still working on her campaign just not to upset the Latinos.

Hillary will wipe her feet on anybody. Y'all better open your eyes.

Everyone always says the "Media" is out to get Hillary. How could every media outlet in america be against hillary? Is it possibly because she does so many questionable moves that they happen to report it and then they are against her. do you really think that if Barrack Obama did something or said something controversial that they none of them would report it. Please no matter who wins it's still about ratings.

stan pitts pa   February 12th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

whites and blacks are voting for obama 80% - 85%, period! whites and blacks support him equally, afterall obama is really half-white/half-black! simple!

Joshua College Station Texas   February 12th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

Go Obama! Texas for Obama!

BITTER   February 12th, 2008 4:37 pm ET

Go Barack!!!

Randy - Denver   February 12th, 2008 4:36 pm ET

Jill I am glad you trust her, I for one do not

when I hire the employees for my company I look for the one I think can do the job, not the one who just says their competition has no experiance, I look for the one who shows enthusiasm for the job not one who expects to be handed the job because they say they ahve the resume, I look for one who can provide references (that I check) not just vague statements of experiance, I look for one with both style and substance not a wonk who will not work with others, I look for a Mr. Obama over a Ms. Clinton every time and have rarely been dissappointed

With 2,295 of 4,049 delegates decided…each candidate must have 2,025 delegates to win. That's a lie & The U.S.A. has a big beef with that!!!

The U.S. has a problem with that, because FL & MI don't count. If they did, there would still be 4,049 delegates left to be decided. That's not the case!!

Since they don't count, why not say the truth?

Why not tell the U.S.A. that you'd need a mere 1,805 delegates to win the nomination, since there are actually only 3,607 delegates available!?!

Again, all because of no FL & no MI.

I think it's legitimate to ask, because of how close the race is. The numbers stem from 720 Superdelegates & 2,887 Pledged Delegates; as apposed to the alleged 796 Sup's & alleged 3,253 Pledge's.

It is or it isn't. But, it's not both. So, which one is it AP??? We The People need to Wake Up!! The only way that can happen is if the truth be told. Let the votes stand for something rather than nothing; and let them be reported as such.

Jill,

"Hillary, like any employer"…. WILL FIRE YOU! It's evident that as soon as you don't contribute to her "bottom line" you are expendable.

I don't need another boss… I need a motivator… a leader… Someone who will inspire and lead at thier own expense… not America's.

Come on folks, do you really think the President of the USA act's as a glorified secretary? We need somebody who will unite and mobilize the THOUSANDS of public servants that exist in America… not polarize them.

EricTx   February 12th, 2008 4:34 pm ET

We Latino's in Texas need to come together and vote obama. I was leaning toward hilary till I see she forced our fellow latino Solis Doyle to step down (fired for all purposes). Is this what we can expect. Hilary giving us Latino voters promises and then when she gets our vote, throwing us to the side because she got what she wanted. We need to come together as Latino's and make a stand. I am voting obama.

I hope the teleprompter doesn't break on Obama again or he could be in trouble without reading what's been written for him:

"Shorn of his Teleprompter, we saw a different Obama," Barnett writes. "His delivery was halting and unsure. He looked down at his obviously copious notes every few seconds throughout the speech. Unlike the typical Obama oration where the words flow with unparalleled fluidity, he stumbled over his phrasing repeatedly."

"Black people are voting for Obama because he is black. "

I'm white. And I'll be voting for Barack Obama in the Texas Primary because I think he's the best candidate out there, and the one who will WIN in November!!!!

Tim Struve   February 12th, 2008 4:29 pm ET

On the contrary.

I believe that Obama has more of a chance to beat out John McCain than Hillary, simply because Obama's lack of an extensive political record and the mere fact that he has fewer political enemies than Clinton (the entire Republican Party plus a large chunk of the Democratic Party).

Many people will cast their votes against Hillary simply because she is Hillary. I realize that John McCain is confronted with a similar dilemma because of his political "moderatism", but I really don't think that an additional half-decade in Iraq will improve our economy, and that is where McCain's political platforms lie. At all costs, we need to remove our forces from Iraq, and I doubt having Hillary as the Democratic candidate will accomplish that.

So for all the latino voters out there - please list for me 3 things the Clintons did for the latino community? I am latino and can't think of one thing that they did that actually benefitted me because I was hispanic. Please help me understand this idea that I should be endebted to the Clintons. My parents were hard workers and they provided for me and my sister. The prospered under Reagan in the 80's as well as the Clinton's in the 90's. They are doing just fine now. So again - what did the Clinton's do that is so specific that I need to sway my vote to Hillary?

J   February 12th, 2008 4:28 pm ET

Obama is making HUGE gains with Latino voters in Texas so I would not be surprised if he actually wins TEXAS too. Many Latinos can relate to Barack Obama's experience trying to find his way despite not being born with a silver spoon in his mouth. After all, this is the man who graduated from HARVARD LAW SCHOOL with scholarships helping him out. OBAMA supports Latino families and the word is spreading that he IS the candidate for ALL PEOPLE OF ALL RACES. When he was community organizing he worked with Latino families too. during this time Hillary was doing nothing for their community; just makign big bucks as a corporate lawye. OBAMA 08!!!! Adelante con Orgullo!

TomTx.   February 12th, 2008 4:27 pm ET

Maria - Good Call. Obama can win in the general election. Hillary faces sure defeat by the republicans.

GO Hillary!   February 12th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

I'm voting for her! And hopefully when she's in, she can fire all the media people who hyped up the campaign negatively, costing American's millions in support money!

David   February 12th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

You got it all twisted, Obama is the future and Hillary is the past.

Obama ur the BOSS!

Elsa   February 12th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Mi Familia is behind Senator Obama because he believes in giving illegal immigrants a path to citizenship without requiring them to leave the United States and breaking families apart. He’s also been a long time supporter of the Dream Act, which will provide undocumented immigrant children that have excelled in school with a chance to get a college degree and provide them with a path for them to earn legal permanent residency. He’s been with us for a long time. We just didn’t know it. Sí se puede. Yes we can.

mike   February 12th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

Texas is Ron Paul country, you get my vote sir.
We all know that CNN censors you, but they can't censor my vote.

Karen from Minnesota   February 12th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

If Obama is the nominee Hillary will graciously asked her supporters to elect him president. if she doesn't there will be two things happening: Democrats for McCain and a write-in campaign for HIllary. A third possiblity would be a Bloomberg candidacy. He could win!

Cathy   February 12th, 2008 4:24 pm ET

I think people are reading too much into the changes in Hillary's campaign staff. I've heard though that there is some fear among staffers to point out problems or issues. This does lead one to quest
