Senator Obama does not have to debate Senator Clinton as often as she wishes. She wants a debate once a week which is unrealistic. It is a fact that he has debated her 18 times and 2 more debates are planned. His position is that he needs to be out amongst the people so that they can get to know him and what his position is on many of the issues. He has stated many times that he is the underdog since the Clintons' have name recognition. I appreciate that he is taking the high road and is not bashing her to the extent that that she want to bash him. Neither candidate should show Desperation by using underhanded tactics and negativity which is a typical trademark of the Clintons'. May the best man win!

I love my country so much and I want what is best for her people. Therefore, I voted for Hillary Clinton and contributed to her campaign. This was the first time that I've ever contributed to anyone's campaign. I honestly do not believe that Mr. Obama is the right person for President at this time. I've done a lot of thinking, listening, and research, and I have come to the conclusion that I will vote for the Republican nominee (probably John McCain) for the first time in my life IF Mr. Obama is nominated.
Here we go again with Billary negativism and negativity. The shamefull clintons will do and say anything to get attention. CAN'T THEY GET IT? THE 44TH PRESIDENT OF AMERICA Mr. OBAMA, has no time for no productive debates with loser Billary, Senator OBAMA as better to do, meeting voters listening to them and talking to them. Meeting parents, familly members and veterants of the unpopular Iraq war that Billary Clinton voted for to sand Americans DIE FOR A LIE.
It's clear, Billary Clinton in need of media coverage prefers runing non prodactive debates, runing away from people who are asking her questions about how cruel and cold hearted she is voting for a war to send Americans DIE FOR A LIE. Hillary is running away from families who have their sons, daughters, dads, moms deployed in Iraq, while senator Obama is meeting them and dealing with veterans and mutilated from the WAR SHE VOTED for.
I wonder if the Clintons know how does it feel to have a partent deployed in Iraq, praying every day that no army personel shows up at your door to bring you a bad news.

Hillary please get it once for all, go face those families whose members you sent to DIE FOR A LIE, what plan do you have for those IRAQ WAR veterans and thousands of familes who have lost their loved ones? rather than bieng in dire need of media coverage and going negative on OBAMA., tell us how do you feel about the toll of AMERICANS SOLDIERS WHOSE LIVES ARE BEING TAKEN BECAUSE OF WISEDOM AND POLITICAL CALCULATIONS ??????
Why Americans have to DIE FOR A LIE ? WHY ? WHY ? WHY? can you tell us Why Hillary ?

Whats so great about Obama? The speeches he gives are words that have already been spoken by JFK and Martin Luther King. These are not his own words. The media finds everything negative about Hillary because if they were to do that with Obama someone would cry discrimination. Wake up people! There is more to Obama than what the eye sees and it is NOT GOOD!

Obama Magic? Has everyone forgotten that George Bush was headed to Washington in 2001 with the promise to bring everyone together. That he was an outsider who was going to bring CHANGE.? Distaster! Or better yet, Jimmy Carter with his southern charm and his fireside chats. He was overwhelmed and cut off at the knees. How can so many Democrats be so foolish? You can call Hillary an insider but believe me its going to take an insider to undue what this Bush Administration has done.

Debate or not, the momentum continues, the movement ongoing. You want substance, count the votes! Empty rhetorics...count the delegates! Please, folks, facts are facts. What are you gonna do, imagine they're not real? Wish Obama, and all this energy is somehow false? Again, count the delegates, count the votes. And deal with it!

FOlks...of the obama campaign -- I dont see how it is negative? Is there a lie in the ad? Debating in a group 18 odd times, is not the same as going one on one when it is so important to contrast the 2 candidates.
Senator Obama is obviously a phenomenon and is a great candidate but remember she is not exactly a fool or unworthy...I think ! Besides...it is not that he does not attack her or something! He is a younger politician than she is and is with a cleaner past perhaps --only because he is newer to politics. The vitriol that I see poured against Senator Clinton is saddening. I am sure she is not made of milk and honey but she is not the devil either!!!

I am a green card holder who unfortunately cannot participate in this election process YET. But i would love to see senator clinton win just to smack the media and press!!! They have lost their sense of objectivity so much that it is depressing. But it is also testimony to the power of the 4th estate. Senator Obama is a good candidate but they make him out to be like some god!!! goodluck to both candidates .....

David
If Barack becomes the nominee that is when he needs the magic, if you think he has it now you'd better hope he still has it after the convention when he will need the experience to handle the republicans. I agree with Jimmy! Hillary 2008!

They have had 18 debates. She backed out of one on MSNBC because an anchor made a mean comment, so she had to pout about it (she could have played up her mother role more, had she debated...then she could have loudly stated at the start of the debate her reasoning for initially wanting to back out, Women would have LOVED that). Obama is actually CAMPAIGNING in every state, as opposed to Clinton who has adopted the Brilliant Guiliani strategy of putting all her eggs in one basket.
Obama has debated her plenty. The American People have responded, and he is now the frontrunner. Two more debates is PLENTY. One before Texas, one before Pennsylvania. Seems fair to me, considering these are the states Hillary needs to win to even have a shot at the Nomination.

There are clear reasons why Obama has refused debates, and it shows. Hillary Clinton outsizes Barak Obama in the many issues she can articulate based on her deep experience. There are few people who know health care better than Hillary, and Obama's not one of them. In foreign policy, she takes the cake and has world leadership credibility. Unfortunately, for Obama he can't measure up to her experience and ability to be ready on day one. Period.

George Bush had to learn on the job. Barak Obama will too. In the meantime, I hope that the Obama followers will start examining the issues and take a break from the sweet talk.

There have been 18 debates. We're sick of debates. The candidates' websites have articles on all the issues; people don't need to be spoonfed what they can research for themselves. Clinton is simply trying to secure free air time.

Just a little information for everyone:

The candidate that is perceived to be doing better doesn't want to debate, while the candidate who needs a little help always wants to debate.

That's the unwritten rule of debates in politics. So if the delegate count were reversed, or the support for Obama wasn't steadily growing, we'd probably hear this same kind of thing from his campaign.

I'm an Obama supporter, but I don't really find this ad to be "negative". I also find this story a waste of CNN's time.

After reading two of Barack Obama's books, Dreams from my Father and the Audacity of Hope; I feel I know the man's heart. Extremely intelligent, a great orator, and a humanitarian to boot...I believe he is the exact medicine this country needs to lead us into healing within and to begin to heal our damaged image in the rest of the world. I also feel that the more people see him and hear him, people who did not know him before begin to take notice saying "who is this man who is real, genuine, and has such good ideas for our country?"

Hilliary gets plenty of free media! And I just wonder why?

People, pay attention to how much her images got on CNN & MSNBC. Get your stop watch out and count. How many times for how long. Also, watch how the camera show her. Images are closer? bigger? Front image? Backside image? With clear campaign messages audible?

Let the news media know that we DO know and we are watching them! Let the slick Willy know that while trying to get payback for favors, American people are not blind!

You folks do know that, Obama, is running for president of the United States of America. Right? Not the president of Kenya, or some third world, musliim country. Right? Just checking, because I for one don't want to be, reduced, to living like them, because Obama, thinks more of taking care of them, than us in the U.S. Maybe he should have taken his campaign over there some where! Mrs. Clinton on the other hand will care for the needy of the world. That's a sure thing. We know her. She does, put the people of the U.S.A. FIRST!!! I Think we need to keep a clear head on our, U.S. needs and the needs of Americans First!!! They, (the candidates), also must be able to explaine how to achieve those needs, (in debates), for us to view and hear in order for, us, to make an educated decision. Choose wisely. All of our lives depend on the choice we make. Even a really, good talker, trips themselve up, when people listen, to him long enough. Think back and think ahead. Wake up! Tthis is not a dream. But a bad choice, spent, on a dream weaver, could very well, turn, into a U. S. and World Wide, NIGHTMARE!!! We the People of This Great Country, are smarter than that. Aren't we? Or, are we not?

I think this discussion thread are moderated by unquestionably biased pro-Obama CNN. For a start and as proof of confidence, CNN should take Obama first as their networks CEO and well see it from there.

FYI, CNN posted entries pro-Obama. But if it is pro-Clinton, CNN will not think twice to allow it.

Alexander Mooney and Chris Welch, how much did the Obama camp paid you?

There will be two more debates between these two, that is more than enough. Clinton is just looking for a way to win a whole lot of votes with a 10 second sound bite from the debate. Obama is wise to be wary, he is earning his votes by campaigning in every state, not ignoring any because they are "not important". Hillary is desperate.

Where is Hillary right now? Does she want to debate from Texas? If she wants debate, then she should come to Wisconsin. She can't be in Texas and crying for debate in Wisconsin. It seems she's on the run. Obama has won 10 state in a roll.

FREEZE interest rates for 5 years would
1. destroy our economy in 2 months
2. IS NOT a PRESIDENTIAL POWER (she says she is experienced) WHOA
3. Banks are NOT OWNED BY THE GOVERNMENT
4. ONLY HILLARY and HUGO CHAVEZ are communist dictators
5. WE::::: citizens::::: shareholders:::::
OWN THE BANKS
we::::::::::: citizens:::::: shareholders have investments in MORTGAGE BACKED SECURITIES that have guaranteed us a specific rate of return:

Hillary is dangerous: pathetic dumber than utterly stupid or just another lie

What most Amercians fail to see is that both sides of Congress are responsiable for the mess we find ourselves in.

Jobs going over seas..
Price increases.
Housing market in it's biggest decline in decades.
Federal and state governments intruding more and more in our lives.
And a war that has lasted for years with no end in sight.
Throw in the torture, lies and half truths, frankly, they all need to be impeached and place on an island where they can talk each other to death.

Both sides voted for this..

What most Americans also don't see is the 'political royalty' we have created funded by huge corporations who fund this fiasco..

Kennedy
Clinton's
Bush's

And a host of 'professional' politicians that is no more than what we overthrew in the late 18th Century.

We just put a different tag on them.

We call them 'democrats' or 'republicans'.

In the meantime, Americans seek out some 'savior' as if Bush or Clinton or Obama or McCain is going to save them.
The very ones who gave you NAFTA, unsecured borders yet strip search you at the airport.
The ones who took your jobs overseas.
The ones who will justify torture and lies in the name of 'freedom' and 'democracy'.

The very ones, both democrat and republican who have taken our Constitution, circumvented it and made it a thing to be legislated away, excutive ordered away or just ignored.

As if they, this 'royalty' you have created, has a divine right to do so.
To lie, manipulate and break our own laws and then scream about 'the rule of law'.

The very ones who have taken a Constitutional Republic and made it an Empire.

There is no one going to 'save' you.
The simple reason is, you keep looking for your solutions from the very people who are giving you the problems.

Ok, CNN. Why can't I seem to post a sensible comment that defends your reporting and urges people to stop focusing on the inane and think for themselves? Too reasonable for you? Yet you have no problem allowing a post that asks god to appoint Hillary president.

No wonder I avoid cyber-space.

This ad is extremely misleading in that it implies that her plan "covers" every American whereas Obama's plan gives up on that goal. Hillary's plan itself won't "cover" every American, as if it was some angel coming to rescue everyone, but will force every American to buy coverage. Obama's plan proposes to make health care more affordable and accessible to everyone who needs and wants it, without forcing it upon everybody.

Both candidates aspire to universal health care, but one of the candidates hasn't forgotten about the American desire for freedom of choice.

Just because someone invites me into their home, does not mean i have to accept. The invitee always has the option of saying no.

Mrs. Clinton does not set the agenda for Mr. Obama. He has exercised his option to say and to continue with his agenda of reaching the voters his way, on his schedule.

That she would take him to task for refusing her invitation is childish and, dare I say it, an attempt to control. I am sure, as clever as Mrs. Clinton is, she will find another way to get her message to the voters.

Mr. Obama is not her conduit.

Wake up Hillary, campaign more and let the people see you for what you are worth, not on TV. That is a poor way to beat the system. Sometimes what you say in Debates can be harmful, when you have true intentions. People hear and see what they want on TV but when you are face to face with and audience, they can tell what you are worth. Try it high school debate team girl. Hope you have the right questions to ask Obama so you want be surprise when your Latinossssssssss screw you over.

What is NEGATIVE about this ad, it told the truth. I can not understand why the Obama supporters are so mean spirited on their comments and blogs. The Democratic party looks and sounds like it has been split, and that means we will not win the WHITE HOUSE in the fall. Look on these comments on any issue and you will see that the dreams that OBAMA says he stands for of UNITY, CHANGE, and HOPE are not what his supporters stand for. They are dividers, just read the comments on any of these issues on the Polictical Ticker. I dont see how any person would vote for Obama after they read these comments from his supporters.

Pride comes before a fall! Obama is getting a little cocky! He has to avoid debates with Hillary because he needs to get schooled quickly. He will have to have more than an empty suit and a motivational message to knock off Hillary or McCain on substance!

Obama has lacked specific plans in all of his speeches. It's no surprise that he doesn't want the debates. He'd much rather talk about Hope and Dreams, WHERE'S THE REALITY? Yeah, those types of speeches will energize the crowds and we all like to feel warm and cozy but there is nothing warm and cozy about the problems facing our country. What will he do when McCain brings up the same points Hillary has been saying for months? The media can't ignore and call McCain negative for bringing up valid differences as they have with her. I'm a Hillary supporter and diehard Democrat but will have a tough time giving Obama my vote if he gets the nomination.

I don't understand why so many people think Clinton has performed so much better than Obama in debates. As a political science major, I'm pretty sure debate performance is measured by the bounce either candidate receives the short period after. By the looks of Obama's winning streak, I believe the American people have shown he won the debates. This is a sad ploy by Hillary to hurt Obama's momentum, but it won't work, because what Hillary hasn't realized is that Obama's supporters are 100% dedicated to him. And to think, I was beginning to feel sorry for her.

Obama's health care plan leaves out 15 million people, and when they have to get all their medical treatment in the emergency room, the cost is 10 times that of someone with insurance coverage, and is paid for with your taxpayer dollars anyway. It is much cheaper to pay for the insurance coverage up front.

Hillary's health care plan covers everybody, has many more choices, and is subsidized based on income, so everyone can afford it. If you are low income, your health insurance will be 100% covered by the government. If you are at the low end of middle income, you will only pay a small percentage of the insurance. If you are middle income you will pay about half of the insurance premium. You will only have your wages garnished if you can afford health insurance but refuse to get it.

Get the facts straight!!!

Kevin,

I watched the CNN debates with Obama and Clinton. I liked both overall. But yes, he DID fumble, it seems harder for him to reach his words in that format. Clinton does better in that setting. When he gives speeches, his flow is better, the pressure is off and he succeeds at his goal. In her speeches, she's much more scripted, not flowing as well as she does in debates. There are obvious differences between these two as far as that is concerned and it's ok to be better at one and not the other.

So is it not okay for a candidate to make a true statement? I hate to say it but she is totally right for running the add. This is not a kiddie game this is a contest between adults. If we can not point out differences or speak the truth, then how will the people know the difference between teh candidates? Obama is a great inspiring speaker that I agree, but I also agree with Hillary Clintons TV add....

No substance? I can't believe Hillary supporters keep parroting that back about Obama. He's been as specific if not more so in his speeches than she has. Neither have explained every specific detail of their plans, you have to do the research. When you do you'll see Obama's plans are more responsible and attainable.

To suggest that Wisconsinites haven't been paying attention and that's why a debate is needed is just insulting. We have TV and get national networks. Really, we don't all sit in bars and raise cows and eat cheese. We invented the progressive movement 100 years ago and have the most open primaries in the nation. We're not stupid or uninformed and having a debate in Madison or Milwaukee is just like watching it in any other city. Hillary would do better to get out and shake some hands and meet people on the ground, but then again, she'd rather run a weak tv ad and campaign in Texas.

Clinton should ask the same question that Mondale asked Gary Hart "Where's the Beef?". Just talk won't do. You can skip votes and vote "present" in state legislations, but not as a president. He is obviosuly scared of debating HRC on specifics. Obama is a big talking liberal who is going to give in to terrorists demands. He thinks he can sit down and have a civilized discussion with Ahmedinajad and people like him. It shows how naive he is.

One more point, for those of you out there blabbering about Obama specifics, you enrage me!

You are here "participating" in a political discussion but you don't take the initiative to do your homework? Morons!

Is it because you just don't want to know? Anyone who wants to learn the specifics of Obama's plans for the country issue by issue, can (always could) go to his website and get extensive detail. When your ready to know the truth...go here: barackobama.com.

But many of you don't/or won't...lemmings, lemmings, lemmings. Don't knock him if you haven't bothered to do your homework.

OBAMA 08

BECAUSE HE DOES HAVE REAL SPECIFIC PLANS, PLANS HE CAN AND WILL CARRY OUT! AND WE WILL KEEP HIM ACCOUNTABLE, AND HE WILL WELCOME THAT!

NATIONAL HEALTH CARE...I THINK I HAVE HEARD THAT BEFORE
..OH YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT, HILLARY PROMISED IT OVER A DECADE AGO.

I KNOW, I KNOW, SHE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH BILL IN THE OVAL OFFICE WITH THE CIGAR AND ALL...WAS SHE TOO BUSY RUNNING THE COUNTRY? WELL SOMEONE SHOULD TELL HER SHE MISSED THE OSAMA BIN LADEN THREAT RESULTING IN 911. THERE WOULD BE NO WAR IF SHE AND BILL HAD DONE THEIR JOB RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. EXPERIENCE????

WE NEED TRUE, TRUSTWORTHY LEADERSHIP!
OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW...

OBAMA 08!!

I think Clinton and Obama should debate the Constitutionality of electing the spouse of a former two term US President to the Presidency. If Hillary is claiming she garnered vast experience as the "First Lady" to the point of proclaiming her ability to be "Commander in Chief," then has she not already fulfilled this position? Does she possess experience as the US President, which essentially bars her from running the for Presidency, again? If her experience is not as extensive, then why is she arguing that Obama lacks experience (coincidentally, Obama has more experience in this primary season than Bill Clinton when Bill ran in 1992).
