Aloha: Chelsea Clinton to campaign in Hawaii

Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother in California in early February.
Chelsea Clinton campaigned for her mother in California in early February.

(CNN) - As part of the Clinton campaign's declared effort to fight for every delegate in every state, Chelsea Clinton is heading to Hawaii, Barack Obama's home turf, according to a Clinton campaign source. She'll spend three days, including this weekend, campaigning there.

The Clinton campaign has been criticized for not competing in the smaller states and caucuses, but is now trying to adjust their strategy. A campaign source says they are not focused only on Texas and Ohio.

On conference call Wednesday, Clinton staffer Guy Cecil said the campaign would now be hiring staffers and opening field offices in several states with upcoming contests they had not devoted resources to before, including Montana and Wyoming.

Hillary Clinton has been endorsed by Sen. Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii, and will be doing satellite interviews with Hawaiian TV today.

A campaign source says Chelsea has proven to be an effective campaigner and they see a strong correlation between Chelsea's visits and improved performance.

At this point, says one campaign source, it's a delegate fight, and even narrowing a loss has a huge impact.

This cycle Chelsea campaigned for her mother in California – the first state where Clinton won the youth vote. The rural congressional district where Chelsea campaigned in Nebraska outperformed others in the state. So far this cycle, Chelsea Clinton has campaigned in at least 15 states.

    Obama Smells like teen spirit!

Most of his contributions are from minors using their parent's credit cards or college students using their parents money. That is why he can raise money so fast because he gets it from Excelon and big business and then gets the kids on board. Too bad you can't text in your vote. Barack Obama is the American Idol candidate.

Interesting. I just saw a poll (from some no name source) that had Hillary leading in Ohio by double-digits. You must be joking. Sounds like the Clinton spin machine is in desperate straits.

Almost everyone I know (and we are the demographic Hillary is supposedly going to win) is voting for Obama. And we are one of the bluest parts of the state.

    Obama is our best hope.

He is receiving support from new voters, Independents, and moderate Republicans; Hillary and Bill and Chelsea are not.

California and New York voted Democratic in the past two presidential elections, yet the country was lost both times to George W. Bush. It's the smaller states that were narrowly won by Bush that we need to be considering, and it is HERE that Obama, because of his ability to attract new support, is winning.... and winning BIG now.

And while I'd LOVE to see a woman as president, I don't think a co-presidency is a good way to begin, especially not with a man that lied to the nation while in office, was impeached by the House of Representatives, and divides his OWN party, let alone the country.

As a democrat, I will never support a return to the Bush/Clinton politics of the past and their squandered presidencies.

I hope Wisconsin and Hawaii use their position to send a strong message to the convention in Denver and to the world on Tuesday that Barack Obama should be our 44th president.

I've met chelsea, she is so nice and very intelligent.
I will vote hillary over barack because even though barack is a nice guy, he is filled with promises with no details and a lack of a plan.
If the media attacks her, it's without premise, she is a good person.

OKR blog writer, please do not letdown yourself in any way. You can make a big difference in our country and so do Obama. If you think that the Clintons and the Bushes were born with golden spoon or Golden brain, think again. They are americans like you, if they can do it, Obama will do it better. We need change the country or do you wants to let george Bush to continue?, Because if the Clinton win they are the same old folks.

To the above Hillary lemmings who say such as this:

"Obama hasn't won a state that matters…every state he has won, is traditional won by a republican in a general election. Hillary on the otherhand has won all states (where most people live) that matter."

Obama has won more popular votes btw. More importantly, the logic that blue states such as CA and NY matter (Hillary's column), while the likes of red VA, GA, SC, and LA do not, is indicative of poor public school education and no college ! Is the Democratic nominee in danger of losing the blue states if its anyone but Hillary ? LOL !!!!

You need the nominee who is strongest beyond the traditional party roots ... duh !

Remember Bill Clinton signed the Apology Resolution (US Public Law 103-150) to Native Hawaiians on November 23, 1993? I'm sure everyone agrees it was very emotional. Yesterday, the Australian Prime Minister apologises to Aborigines, their Natives in Australia. It's good to see the governments are stepping up to apologize for their past mistakes.

Honestly, I don't see Republican run governments ever will do that.

MSNBC — Would Obama be bad for business? "After all, Obama is hardly a shoo-in for the C-suite set: He's got a scant three-year record on the national stage, and he wants to roll back the Bush tax cuts that benefit many of the people running big American companies.

Plus, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce gives him the lowest rating of any of the three major contenders for the presidency, behind Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). "

Prado- Did you actually just use Family Values and the Clintons in the same paragraph? I am astounded. Is this the kind of cluelessness that all Clinton supporters have? If so I fear for the democrats. That being said.....

I am an independent who has not made up his mind on who to vote for. All I hear about is Clintons experience and how Obama is just rhetoric. How Clinton is ready from day one and Obama needs more experince. My question is this....

What is Clintons experience? What has she done to warrant this label?

Everyone claims Obama is too general in his statements but yesterday he laid out his economic plan in one of his speeches. Has Hillary done this?

If one of her supporters can answer these questions I would greatly appreciate it. Because as it is now I am leading towards Obama.

    Thank you all

Ken – thank you. Tired of the misinformed Clinton backers spewing her tired old garbage about Obama not being specific, experienced, etc. Its swift boating at its finest!! GET INFORMED PEOPLE!!

Great – Chealsea on the trail. I'm so glad that the media finally gets the chance to ask HER questions. The veil the Clinton's have put on this woman is rediculous....she is a college educated adult and they've been treating her like a 12 year old! If they are going to stick her on the campaign trail, then the media now has every right to ask her some very pointed questions. No longer is Chelsea off limits.

J.C.T – you mean, when Hillary was in the White House so distant from her husband's business that Bill-O was callus enough to cheat on his wife just floors from where the family slept. Oh yeah, Hillary had SOOOO much to do with the economy – right....It was all Hillary.

    Get a clue!

    HAHAHAHA!

I love it. Take a nice vacation Chelsea! No one is voting for your mom down there little girl.

This is too funny! The clintons are so stupid, they are wasting time in a state they have no chance of winning or even of picking up delegates. HAHAHAH. I love it!

It's over Hillary supporters. Stop wasting your money. In fact, see if you can get your money back – stop payment on a check or do a chargeback on your credit card.

    Mahalo Chelsea! HAHAHAH!

Since the media is afraid to say it, wouldn't you regular folks like to have been given a do-nothing job right out of school that pays over six figures and THEN ALLOWS you to take a leave of absence and keeping your "job" available when you finaly get back to "work"?

Can someone also ask if Chelsea is going to be available to answer questions?

Can someone ask her why she NEVER served in the military, but her mommy and daddy as co-presidents sent troops around the world and mommy voted to authorize to send tropps to Iraq?

    Nah, didn't think so.
