(CNN) — One of the country’s biggest unions — the United Food and Commercial Workers Union — voted Thursday to endorse Barack Obama.

Obama’s Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, had also hoped for the union’s nod.

The union, which has more than a million members, is very active in Ohio and Texas — both contests the Clinton campaign is counting on to help her regain momentum in the Democratic presidential race.

It is also very strong in Pennsylvania, another major contest looming on the horizon, and is a major force in voter turnout in all three states.

The union represents workers in the meatpacking industry, in supermarkets and food processing.

Hope and Promises   February 14th, 2008 9:54 pm ET

Obama supporters, open your eyes and your brains, wake up and face the reality. Hope and promises that Obama is offering in his speeches in order to win the white house will not bring food on your table, fill your tanks with gas or pay your bills, ACTION will just as Clinton is trying to make you Obama supporters. Hope and promises will not bring peace in the world, ACTION will. Grow up your Obama supporters with little brains.

Obama your campaign is making it look like as if there is only one party fighting elections. So much of interest is generated by you that it looks like its between Obama and Hillary and repulicans look as if they are out of this race already.
The change is eminent and you will do it OBAMA.

B. hawkins   February 14th, 2008 9:23 pm ET

The writing is on the wall. If Hillary has all this so called expierence how does she explain rasing 140 million dollars and runnig out of money. How does she explain losing 8 contests in a row.How does she explain changing campaign managers in the middle of the game by firing her latino campaign manager before she heads into Texas a state that is a" must win "if she is to survive. How does she explain the fact that she will not release her tax returns when all the other candidates have. How is this expierence. This is the type of expierence that we have had for the last 8 years. Enough All Ready!!

IT'S Time For a Change. It's Time for OBMA.

It's very disappointing that Hilary supporters have so much anger against Obama! I don't get it, so you support Hillary and if she losses the nomination you now support McCain?!?!? I see Hilary and McCain are in the same party, represent the same ideas that you have! Stop being bitter people. Whoever wins, support the Democratic Candidates

Al   February 14th, 2008 9:12 pm ET

Sad to say, but Obama will not carry his place of birth, Hawaii. I do hope that he can at least split the vote in Texas and Ohio. Doubt he does well in PA-neighbor to NY.
It's gonna be tough for Obama to go over that mountain.
Think the country better get ready, Bill is back in the White House!

Minority   February 14th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

Conspiracy Theory:

Republicans have united in force to beat out Clinton by endorsing Obama. Psyche war tactic.

Democrats must not fall into this trap! Obama does not stand a chance with McCain!!! Many many many Democrats will vote for McCain if Clinton is not nominated.

Allen, Redlands CA   February 14th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

Even though I'm a loyal Dem. I realize that unions are special interests just like all the Republican special interests. Though I strongly support Obama, this isn't necessarily a good thing for him.

dyinglikeflies   February 14th, 2008 9:05 pm ET

Since McCain and Clinton are both moderates, if Clinton is gone I'm voting for McCain. I'm not voting for the guy with the most liberal voting record in the Senate, Obama (that's when he actually votes instead of chickening out and voting "present"). What an empty suit.

Yes we can change that we can belie.Obama you have worked so hard and God will see you through thick and thin despite all the obstacles.

Harold   February 14th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Obama is not going to win. The moment(s) he stole Hillary's positions, and at the same time try to downplay her, that shows the inexperience he has.

What would happen when the terrorist attack again? He won't have Hillary's ideas to steal from then.

People, you need to think about these things. Charisma can get you so far, but experience, a strong political background and the commitment to take action supersedes that.

And, by the way, the Republicans are scared of Hillary that's why they are attacking her all the time. But, I'm happy McCain and his supportrs are beginning to take stabs at Obama…this is great, and it will show us how strong of a candidate he is.

Texas-Home   February 14th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Obama will loose 45 state in the General election form McCain.

Only his home state,DC,Maryland ,Delware ,Mn in play.

Dorian   February 14th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

The Culinary Workers Union in Nevada and the huge SEIU union in California endorsed Obama and it didn't help. Their members payed attention to the messages of the candidates, voted with independent minds, and Clinton won.

CommonSense   February 14th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

From looking at comments above I see this race going
80 - 20 points for Obama!

Jules   February 14th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

A nice nod, but it's true- people vote for all kinds of very personal and political reasons and who their union endorses rarely makes much of a difference. I'm a piblic school teacher and have never let my union's choice influence my decision. Obama is right- he needs to be out talking to people, not at them via debates and rallys. He's made a wise choice. Get out there and let those voters see what you're made of and that you are listening. They'll see what substance really means.

Lydia   February 14th, 2008 8:57 pm ET

If the endorsement translates into votes this is great news! If not, well, the endorsement will be underwhelming.

Most of the Obama supporters are getting a little arrogant. Didn't we see this from the "W" people 8 years ago when an inexperienced fresh guy was running for president? How'd that turn out?

michele   February 14th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

The inexperienced and drugs addicted guy will turn our country into another Kenya or even Baghdad, Iraq. I wonder If he take any Cocaine everytime he delivered his speech.

Cali   February 14th, 2008 8:24 pm ET

Yeah Senator Obama! On to the White House!

P.S. It is a known fact that some of our greatest leaders were great speakers: Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Martin Luther King, John F. Kennedy, etc.

Martin   February 14th, 2008 8:22 pm ET

Naomi - do you just simply not understand a the purpose of a "present" vote? It does not look like it so I'd be delighted to explain. It's actually a plus - it means a senator will, in principle, be happy to support a bill should a FEW CONCERNS be addressed. It means that the baby is not always thrown out with the bath water. In this way, promising legislation can be IMPROVED and FINE-TUNED to make excellent legislation.
Not every vote by a senator should be a simple binary yes/no vote. Where would the constructive dialogue be in that?

Daniel Stevens   February 14th, 2008 8:22 pm ET

This is good news but we have to organize and get excitement going on in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. I'm donating again. I am hoping that He (Obama) gets his butt down to Texas SOON !! and out to Ohio, and on to Pen. We cannot wait! we do NOT want a repeat of California. Not again. This time we MUST hit the ground and hit it hard and nothing revs up those of us who support him like a great rally.

Dave   February 14th, 2008 8:21 pm ET

Remember when gas was $2.00 a gallon, and the economy was thriving…

With Mr. Obama your can look forward to higher gas costs, and fewer jobs, and a inflationary health care plan…

DON'T LOOK, LISTEN; *** Because, that's exactually what he is selling..***

Sincerely,

Good luck…

I've always wondered something… Hillary is always talking about helping out the little people….Her net worth is over 34 million dollars and she came from the well to do suburbs. What does she really know about the little people…or what do they call them… the dunkin donut people. She was a starbucks gal.

I'm one of the little and Obama definitely gets my vote.

Hillary or Obama shouldn't worry too much. The Republican party is taking its last breath . Either one of them stands a better chance in Nov. than McCain .

Todays Republicans are so arrogant beyond their senses that they don't have sense enough to know that they have run out of people to betray . By the time money influences them at this level , they are no longer
just stupid , they have been abandoned by their own soul.

I'm an Independent that usually votes rep. I know lot's of people that would vote Rep still if Hucabee were in and if McCain were out …I don't know ANYBODY that will vote for McCain Not even my REP friends .

FLK   February 14th, 2008 8:13 pm ET

I am very confident OBAMA will bring WORLD PEACE, peace that is so elusive to other American Presidents. Hillary Clinton will never bring world peace.. OBAMA CAN AND WILL.. HE is different.. America is a world leader and America need a Leader who will lead the world, not just America..

jd   February 14th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

The United States needs a man like Obama because we also need his skills to be the global leader that we need in today's world.
He makes me feel excited about the USA and I will do my part to help.
We are educated voters; we know things will not change overnight, yet, his leadership is the first step in a long road of goodness and I fully support him and the talented people he will surround himself with.

Cathy   February 14th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Why do people have to be so mean to other americans? So what if you are supporting Obama or Hillary. The above blogs especially from Obama supporters are just plain rude.

Patricia   February 14th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

Jo ~ Senator Clinton has totally lost all respect with the way she has run her campaign. She will not be getting my vote.

A2MANI   February 14th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

I wonder when will Hillary do what Mitten Romney has done to his party today !?

I am a tremendous mathematician.. for Hillary to get nomination, she will have to win by 70% in OH, TX & Pennyslavia… from the look of it, Obama EVEN if he loose will come near to 45% of 100% to Hillary which means Hillary will get max of 55% lets say and concludes she doesn't stand a chance to win nomination so far..

..hillary just DROP OUT and do us Democrats a favor, I am not gonna vote this year but it will hurt if our party will continue to be divided by what you have just started showing on your ads, those are TANTRUMS! stop it, please!

…OBAMA 08

…OBAMA 08

…OBAMA 08

…OBAMA 08

Eric   February 14th, 2008 8:10 pm ET

Let me guess. Hillary will spin this as being an endorsement that "doesn't really matter" and she "wasn't expecting to get anyway". Been hearing that alot lately.

California Voter   February 14th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Well, at least the voters will not be intimidated to vote for Obama by having the union boss staring them down like in Nevada!

By the way, I don't recall a political ticker going out when former Senator John Glenn endorsed Hillary Clinton. I'm not big on this endorsement stuff, but it would have been a little more fair and equal to see the announcement on the ticker. Morever, there was a political ticker that went out when Hulk Hogan endorsed Obama. Now who is more knowledgeable about what a candidate is all about Hulk or Senator Glenn?

Kristopher   February 14th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

True this would have been a pretty big help to Hillary but none the less, she commands a lot of respect and Americans will help her to be OUR NEW PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!

HILLARY 08!!!!!!!

TEXAS FOR HILLARY!!!!!!!

Jewel P.   February 14th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

What?!? Say what?!? I cant believe that this happened!!!! This just isnt fair. The comments for the OBAMA page should be much much bigger!!!! The two things that I would love to hear: Obama winning as the 1st BLACK P. of the U.S.A and those rebate checks have arrived!!!! LOL!!!!! OBAMA 2008!!!!

Joe in nyc   February 14th, 2008 8:05 pm ET

How can we trust Hillary to run the Country when she failed at running her own campaign? so much for experience… she thought she would be crowned by virtue of her name recognition totally discounting Barack.. Is this what we are to expect in her White House? can we trust her as a president going into a 'must fight' war and expecting to win just because of her good looks?

We need a president who never underestimates the opponent. Obama has proven himself just by showing us how to run a campaign that was doomed since day one.. He is truly showing this country what he is capable of.. I am sold President Obama.. I salute you..

jackson   February 14th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

It's great to get an endorsement but if they do nothing to mobilize and be active, then it is merely symbolic. That is not to say there is not value in symbolism or perception at this point, but it may add little tangible value.

Kathy S.   February 14th, 2008 8:04 pm ET

The Clintons make me sick. They are liars and very dishonest. I pray that Hillary does not become president. All she is interested in is a power struggle to become the first woman president no matter what lies she tells the public.

Go Obama!! I am with you all the way.

stophillary   February 14th, 2008 8:03 pm ET

Keep the MO-JO going!

Sherry in California   February 14th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

Some of the rank and file may decide to vote against their union's endorsement (as happened in Nevada), however, the important thing for the Obama campaign is that that union's GOTV (get out the vote) apparatus will be available to HIM and NOT FOR Hillary. That's the most important part, especially since the Clinton campaign thought it would be all over after Super Tuesday and didn't organize in any real way for the post ST states, and now they're scrambling. Its also important given the comparative financial disparity, the Clinton campaign told Gov. Rendell in Pennsylvania there was no money for the direct mail campaign he wanted to do. Having a major union in the state endorse your opponent just doesn't help.

JOHN   February 14th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

OK, HILLARY'S GOING TO SOLVE OUR NATION'S PROBLEMS. WHAT A LAUGH. SHE CAN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEMS IN HER OWN CAMPAGIN THAT'S FALLING APART. AFTER TUES. THE STATE COUNT WILL BE 23 FOR OBAMA AND 11 FOR BILLARY. DON'T BE SURPRISED IF OBAMA WINS OHIO. IF SHE LOSES OHIO OR TEXAS ITS GOOD NIGHT HILLARY. THIS CAMPAGIN WILL BE IN THE REFRIG.

NJ Friend of Obama   February 14th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

Union members should not feel forced to vote for any particular candidate. The endorsement means that the union organization as a whole states it's support. Every individual must decide for him-herself. If you take time to really get to know both sides well and think about it completely, it will be very clear to you for many good reasons that we must choose Obama and must not choose Clinton.

Sue - BC Canada   February 14th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

Way to go! It's good to know people that the old oxymoron "honest politician" does NOT apply to Obama!

Suzanne   February 14th, 2008 7:56 pm ET

They are both good candidates, but Obama is better because he connects with people. People trust him. He trusts himself. This is important. He remains congruent with his values. I believe he is brilliant enough to manage to come up with needed "solutions". He is Presidential, with presence, excellent diplomatic skills, and he is not afraid to speak the truth and tell it how it is. We need a Presidential President to represent America across the globe. We need to reinvest in America as he suggests and target terrorism where it really is, not get distracted from reality due to fear. WE need courage now, courage to face reality and STAND UP FOR CHANGE. Yes WE can. Not just Obama. He says, yes WE can, not "yes I can". Change is a WE thing.

Jane   February 14th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Would not want the Billary camp to figure out the obvious, but when the country is yearning and practically desperate for change, she keeps on with the same line, "…ready to go on the first day!" Subliminal translation to American voters: I'll be ready, just like I was during the entire Clinton Whitehouse dynasty. Billary's new campaign manager better come up with a new, different theme.

observer#1   February 14th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

As a union member for over 26 years, with several years served on the exective board, I support Hillary , as does my International Union. Hillary, as a Senator has helped my particular union get funding that was essential to our jobs ,not once but many times. Can anyone quote a single time that Obama has helped unions? I look at his support for charter schooling , which drains public school systems funding and think of how that wil hurt the School Teachers Unions. I look at how Obama handled Exelon and know he will never pose a threat to big corporates, and in fact, he has received over $200,000 in campaign contributions from Exelon. He wants to ban the manufacturing, sell and possession of hand guns , yet he was only 1 of 3 to vote against harsher punishment for street gang members. Show me a positive for Obama, I can't find one and fail to hear anything that would make me ever want to see him as President.

Kate   February 14th, 2008 7:53 pm ET

Edd, Hillary was a headline a few hours ago when I read it…can we end this media conspiracy theory…no one seemed to complain when the clintons were the media darlings who could do no wrong during their many, many, many scandals. Now the tables are turned and they cry foul…

OH Hillary   February 14th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

I am a Hillary supporter but I believe that at this point in time in history she should support barack and allow the people to really speak in the general election! I dont want her to allow the republican party to energize itself and allow them to get thier voters back! If we are going to win this thing we are going to have to win on all fronts even some republicans! Hillary is my girl and I love her and want the first woman president to be her But I have never seen so many people waiting for her to get the nod just to get on thier feet and knock her off hers and then we will have a 3rd Bush term!

I am so upset that Hillary has this effect on so many but it just is there. WE should all take another look at what party we plan on putting into the general election and into the White House

Okyere   February 14th, 2008 7:47 pm ET

This race is not against Hillary; its against Bush. Hillary did not distinguish her self separate from Bush when it counted, (the war votes) and now she is doomed to suffer the consequences. Barack is the anti-Bush. He is intelligent, of good character and a good team leader.

The inexperienced guy is showing them how to run a stellar campaign, and soon he'll show them all how to run the country!

Our votes are thanks for his even agreeing to take on this formidable job and pledging to do his best to stand up for the best in all of us come what may!!

Cheers to you Senator Obama!!!

bjoebear   February 14th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Hey kids…get a grip…Obama is the new Jimmy Carter. An indecisve, reformist, and unltimately weak Democartic presidential candidate. Those of us who are old enough to remember know how this will play out. Washington is not going to simply roll over and allow Barack to have his way because he claims to be the current 'candidate of change." This is not how our government opperates. Like it or not, the "change" your looking for can and will be dicussed this year, but won't be realized for a decade or more. I'm putting this out to you as simply as I know how…Clinton will produce a lot more bang for your vote than Obam Will. She's been there and knows how to maneuver her way thjrough this system.

bp   February 14th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Congrats Sen Obama. By the way, is the Hillary campaign reimbursing the Secret Service budget for all the extra agents and hundreds of hours of overtime (not to mention the jet fuel) while Bill "defends" campaings coast to coast for his wife.

As a taxpayer, I believe we should protect former Presidents but I did not sign on for this. Get that Burkle money out and pay us back. Who do we see about that????

Brad   February 14th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

There's a reason McCain would rather run against the Clintons than he would against Obama. He believes the republicans can beat the Clintons; wouldn't anyone rather run against the weakest candidate?

Jo   February 14th, 2008 7:44 pm ET

Talking facts is not negative campaigning. Obama cannot lead this country — he does not have the character, experience, or guts required. Hillary does. You don't have to like her, but you do have to respect her if you really examine her record.

"Hillary complaint about ties of Obama to Exelon"

Now it turns out that Mr. Penn’s company, Burson Marsteller, has also been an Exelon consultant. An Exelon spokesman confirmed a report today on the Huffington Post that Mr. Penn’s firm was recently paid $230,000 for public relations work last year in New Jersey, where Exelon was seeking to renew a license for one of its nuclear plants.

Mr. Penn’s memo also left out another inconvenient fact, one that had been mentioned in The Times story: Mrs. Clinton was a co-sponsor of Mr. Obama’s radioactive-leaks bill.

Oh Please...   February 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Just because the union top officials support him, doesn't mean that the members do. My company supports McCain, does that mean I support him? Hell no!!!!!

Whoever is writing these articles need to stop and think before hitting publish. After all, wasn't it Nevada's largest union who supported Obama, and ahmmm…didn't he lose?

Lastly, wasn't it Kerry and Kennedy who supported him too, and he lost in their state?

That said, endorsement is just that endorsement, not a trump card.

Lisa   February 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Lets remeber that the endorsement in Nevada happed 3 days before the caucus. These endorsements come 2 weeks before the primary, big diiference.

Women for Obama!

Jake   February 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Don't worry about it Hillary — you're way ahead in Texas & Ohio. Go Hillary! And, if you don't get the nomination, Go McCain!!

davis   February 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

i am so glad the union supports obama, i do not favor hillary and again am so glad the union supports obama

John, NC   February 14th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Union endorsement or no endrosement, OBAMA is going down!

What did all these endorsements get OBAMA in Nevada? LOSS!

Look, the regular union member knows that HILLARY'S PLANS and her ABILITY far exceeds OBAMA's, and OBAMA's record with Unions is SCANT!!!

That is why MAJORITY of UNION MEMBERS CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR HILLARY!

Obama is HOT AIR, and nothing else!

Vote for SUBSTANCE

Vote for HILLARY '08!!!

PS: Union members and Hillary supporters, please don't forget to go contribute at her website! I have a personal commitent to contribute AT LEAST $25/week until she wins the nomination and beyond!
Let's STAND WITH HILLARY. She is our best hope of SOLVING our nation's problems. OBAMA is ALL TALK and NO SUBSTANCE! Open your eyes people, HE HAS NO RECORD TO BACK HIS RHETORIC!

akaDoug   February 14th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

Just remember caucus states don't matter…at least that's what Queen Hillary has told us. So her win in Nevada really didn't matter!

Edd   February 14th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

OH CNN, how biased can you get!!! HILLARY wins New Mexico and it's not even a headline???? So Funny, that is why CNN's annointed candidate Obama is loosing because people are sick & tired of your biased against HILLARY!!! Do it more CNN, hope to see the day HILLARY wins!!!

PAMELA OHIO   February 14th, 2008 7:29 pm ET

GO OBAMA 2008

Matt   February 14th, 2008 7:27 pm ET

This is nothing more than union leadership playing politics. UFCW members, much like their NV Culinary Workers brethern, will vote for the candidate who actually has a track record of supporting working men and women…Hillary.

moon   February 14th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

I will prefer to vote 4 hillary

David   February 14th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

I have been a member of that union and their endorsement and $1.50 will get you a cup of coffee. Rember how good the culinary workers and SEIU was, Obama lost Nevada.

TJ WILLIAMS, Los Angeles, CA   February 14th, 2008 7:10 pm ET

GO SENATOR OBAMA!

Looks like the Sleeze Machine is reving the engines. Please stick to your plan, hold your head above the slime comming your way and keep doing what you're doing. Please do not roll in the mud with the Clintons…Americans are sick of their drama.
We're counting on you to lead us in rebuilding our country!

Bill Jay   February 14th, 2008 7:09 pm ET

nost likely this union is stupid.

Arnie Garcia   February 14th, 2008 7:07 pm ET

I have seen politics in the USA for the past 40 years and in Mexico for the past 20. I had never seen someone go after his or her opponent like Hillary is going after Barack, and believe me this is what I call desperate mouthing politician. Let`s talk about issues, ideas, answers to today`s problems but don`t give us this issue that you are ready to become president and the others are not. Look at Ronald Reagan, everyone said that a movie actor could never be a president of our country and what happened. ONE OF THE BEST ECONOMICS IN OUR HISTORY. Bill of course just got a carbon copy of that.
I have seen dirty and bad poltics everywhere but Hillary is showing what we say in Mexico (SON PATADAS DE AHOGADA) she is kicking and drowing herself. (or something like that) In other words, this is frustration that nothing is working out for her. If she wouldn`t be so arrogant and just go straight to her game plan maybe JUST maybe she could do better. Yes we need a change in our country and BAD. and is never too late to start from scratch. We need young people, we need young blood not the same old politicians of all time. As far as defending our country, I believe every president whoever is in the white house will defend our country and make no mistake on that.

Obama is showing something that people is urged to have a CHANGE and I think we are ready no matter what the color of skin or religion or gender is the person. But not the way Hillary is playing. If this is the way she is going to play in the white house MY GOD let`s everybody start praying. Us in Texas will vote for you Barack.

You got a Texan living in Mexico but will vote on march 4th.

saludos from south of the border.

GP   February 14th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Obama got endorsements in Nevada and still lost the caucus—these unions endorsements are meaningless…Hill should keep her focus—she pull it off again

Jon   February 14th, 2008 7:05 pm ET

Lol another nail to Hillary's coffin. It's over Hillary, get out. No one likes you. Do the world a favor and just disappear and never show your face again.

Obama/Jesus 08

Jane   February 14th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Not a big deal. Individual members will vote their hearts — just like they did in Nevada.

Brian   February 14th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

This along with the SEIU union, nice!

TheMightyC   February 14th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Wonderful!!! Keep it coming! It's time to settle this race and slam dunk the delusional republicans!

Go Bama!!!

Keeping it real   February 14th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Political pundits will do their level best to minimize Obama. Thank goodness people are starting to pay attention to the so-called "promise based rhetoric" by Barack Obama. He has articulated his place on the issues and put together very detailed policy ideas based on current and projected circumstances. This huge union has taken notice to what most folks who have voted in the democratic party's primaries have come to know. Barack Obama is the way to go this election cycle. With their influence and trust throughout the state of Ohio, in Texas and even Pennsylvania, many more people who were leaning towards Hillary will at the very least take a second look. Here recently that has been all that was needed to turn in lopsided victories for Barack Obama. It really doesn't how you look at it, the longer you take to check the guy out the more you loike him. Clinton and her closest backers have looked at him nine ways to Sunday and it hasn't mattered one bit. More support him than do Hillary. The voters have proved that time and time again.

Sam Taveras   February 14th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

This is great for Barack Obama. The endorsement adds to his momentum and increases his strength in some important key states. Meanwhile, the Clintons become desperate.. Hillary is using her daughter to campaign for her while she attacks Barack Obama. The people are tired of these kinds of politics Hillary!

PA FOR OBAMA   February 14th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

Awesome endorsement!!! Hillary is going all out to try and take away from Barack Obama. She appears desperate. Obama will be great for this country. I am from PA–don't count us out!!! Go Obama!!!

mamady sylla (london)   February 14th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Just choise by this union. Only Obama will put people first and interest second. Obama for America, Obama for the world.

Rei for Hillary in FLorida   February 14th, 2008 6:58 pm ET

Big deal. We all saw what happened in Nevada. Union's who ensore Obama who copy's Hillary's Economic Plan is doomed to implode.

Chuck in Oregon   February 14th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

Wolf, I just want to give my thoughts to this. Hillary, I am sure she is aware of this, and now she is pulling out all the stops. Having truly believed that she was going to sweep super Tuesday, and that she would not loose by such large margings these past 8 states; Hillary is operating in the panic mode now. Obama does have a much stronger, well entrenched and well organized campaign, which speaks volumes for his leadership, managerial and fiscial responsibility. On the other hand Hillary has portions of her original staff, called in Bills old staff to support and has had to put 5 million of her own money in to the coffers because her staff has mismanaged the Dollars. Hmmm I wonder who is in a better place to run this country. IF YOU WANT THE OLD WAYS, THEN HILLARY OF COURSE. IF YOU WANT TRUE CHANGE THEN OBAMA AND Hillary knows she is loosing major ground in her run for the white house, so we can expect it to really become very ugly. She is going to wine, cry and carry on with this woooo is me retoric, she is going to fuss about Florida and Michigan even though she agreed

Veronica Ward   February 14th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

GO OBAMA!

Paulo   February 14th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

I live at Brazil and I am support for Obama. Very good this news. USA need of hopes and changes… USA need new leaders..Go Obama!

Naomi   February 14th, 2008 6:50 pm ET

Lets not forget Obama's record of voting "present" more than 140 times in the senate. What does this tell us about the JUNIOR senator Obama. It tells us that he doesn't have the guts to take a stance on an issue. So if he failed at a job the voters elected him to do why would he be any different in the whitehouse? Do we want a wimp in the whitehouse. This country needs 2 Presdients in the Whitehouse. Go Hiliary!!!!!!!!!

David Jones   February 14th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

GO OBAMA!

kwame   February 14th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

A USELESS UNION. OBAMA CAN HAVE THEM AND TED KENNEDY AND THE LOSER JOHN KERRY WHO THINKS OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN IN IRAQ ARE STUCK THERE BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT IN COLLEGE.
GO HILL, THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE USA

Connie, Tn.   February 14th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Is this the same union that endorsed him in Nevada? If so, that didn't do a lot of good.

modza   February 14th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Oops– another supposed pillar of Hillary's support erodes…

seattle   February 14th, 2008 6:45 pm ET

go obama

cb   February 14th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

Union members know who will really stand up for them and its not Barack Obama. Just ask Maytag workers.

Yea I Said It   February 14th, 2008 6:44 pm ET

B B B But … I thought Mrs. Clinton was the "Labor Candidate".

Oh Well … They all are probably former W-a-l-m-a-r-t employees … So, of course, they don't c o u n t …

Jenny   February 14th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

Great! They too see that Obama is for the working American.

Truth hurts   February 14th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

CaN You say OBAMA/Edwards 08!!!

Kwaku, California   February 14th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

A big nod for Obama.
Texas and or Ohio can help end the contest on March 4 by giving Obama a win then we can all get a break from this long and tiring primary season. Texas/Ohio just do it for Obama!

nht   February 14th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

I bet this is from his Michelle Obama's efforts. She sits on the board of a meat packing company that supplies Walmart. I don't understand how walmart is a negative for Hillary and a positive for BO

Patrick   February 14th, 2008 6:41 pm ET

Hmmm, I remember the last time I heard about a Union endorsing Obama. Mistake me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it the food worker's union?

Franky   February 14th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

We got the United Food Commercial Workers Union!!!!! Ohhh yeah, one of the most powerfu Union's in the country. I guess they're motto is less talking more working……….get it??? You know, because Hillary talks a lot, you know? LOL!!!

Braineel   February 14th, 2008 6:38 pm ET

Wonderful! Another big grab for Obama. Thank you Union members. I hope the voters of the upcoming states realize how important it is to get out and vote if they are in the Obama camp. Senator Clinton will stop at nothing, including taking delegates from Michigan (a state where against party rules she kept her name on the ballot and only won because Obama and Edwards names were not on it) and Florida (a state no candidate campaigned in).

This is before you consider a whole host of lowly attacks and a will to destroy the party if she does not get her way. Democrats if you want to beat Mcain . . .

Rachelle   February 14th, 2008 6:37 pm ET

YES! WE CAN!!! YES WE CAN!!! THAT IS ALL I HAVE BEEN WISHING TO SCREAM LATELY!

shaun   February 14th, 2008 6:37 pm ET

Rack up another endorsement for obama. This is an endorsement that holds weight, and unlike the culinary union in nevada, these people won't be so easily tricked by the clintons manipulation skills.

krissy   February 14th, 2008 6:36 pm ET

Fantastic!

Obama has the best policy ideas (as fully explained on his website). I am so glad people are looking past the hype and seeing that not only is Obama a great speaker, he has the best policies.

OBAMA 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Corey   February 14th, 2008 6:35 pm ET

Go Barack!! Hillary, it's officially a WRAP!

Wallace, Sacramento, CA   February 14th, 2008 6:35 pm ET

Go Barack.

Obama 2008!

AB   February 14th, 2008 6:34 pm ET

good news after good news for Obama! You gotta respect Obama even if you don't support him.

Ian Leo   February 14th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

Way to go UFCWU (United Food and Commercial Workers Union). Making the right choice at the right time. Obama is the only candidate who can help our country the best way better than any body else running today.. This will be looked back in history..

Peter   February 14th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

Hillary is in for a big shock on March 4. Hope she concedes after that!

sophia nyc   February 14th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

GET OUT AND VOTE PEOPLE!
Don't let superdelegates decide who our nominee will be!!

Smith   February 14th, 2008 6:33 pm ET

Hallelujah!

Unions for Obama!

Hillary had her chance to provide affordable health care.. she blew it..

I'm not giving her the job again.

I'll bet the healthcare industry is a BIG SUPPORTER of hers.

Harlan   February 14th, 2008 6:32 pm ET

Hillary is out of touch with the average american. She claims to care but how can she when she voted for medical bills to show on one's credit report. People should take note to her way of thinking and realize that all her talking is just that, talk.

David   February 14th, 2008 6:31 pm ET

now how to win TX and Ohio if these things continue to happen? Sen Clinton has a bad luck. she is contesting this firebrand Obama. Mccain is also scared. Mccain said he would prefer Clinton. it is so funny. our Mac grand pa is scared . Obama is really a big headache for these guys.

Jim Walker   February 14th, 2008 6:30 pm ET

Make that union leaders not union members.

josh r.   February 14th, 2008 6:29 pm ET

The Obama Express is running over Hillary with just enough momentum to destroy her candidacy.

lee   February 14th, 2008 6:29 pm ET

Uh Oh, Hillary!

ELAINE   February 14th, 2008 6:28 pm ET

AHH POOR HILIARY….AND YOU FELT THAT YOU WERE SO ENTITLED TO THIS NOMINATION…AT LEAST IF YOU WANT IT YOU WILL HAVE TO GET UP OFF YOUR TOOSH AND WORK FOR IT.

Jake, California   February 14th, 2008 6:27 pm ET

Please don't leave silly comments here. this means Obama has more support from the Union than Hillary. It doesn't mean he has won Ohion, Texas and PA….even though we are going to do just that in a couple of weeks, not because of the union but that nobody wants Hillary!

Yoseph   February 14th, 2008 6:27 pm ET

Unfortunately it means nothing. people vote based on their conscious. What would be the reason to endorse Obama over Hillary?

Frank   February 14th, 2008 6:25 pm ET

Good People for OBAMA !

Of course this union does 'not matter' after all … or so she says.

Midge from Ohio   February 14th, 2008 6:24 pm ET

No-one tells me how to vote, not a union, not a church, not the myriad of people who are making their silly endorsements. I vote for the person that I think will make the best President of this great country.

W B in Las Vegas   February 14th, 2008 6:24 pm ET

NOT suprising because Obama is for amnisty and, as Lou Dobbs has pointed out, a lot of their membership is illegal aliens. UFCW is just another group of scabherders like the Service Employees that are more worried about collecting dues than protecting American workers.

Think - FL   February 14th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Hahah… Hillary is shedding some real tears now. Her tears are different this time though… these don't evaporate and they can burn through steel.

Avis C, Richton Park,IL   February 14th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

Oh Hillary, what ever will you do now? It seems everyone is coming to their senses. Obama is the best person for the job!

YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OBAMA 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

abigi   February 14th, 2008 6:23 pm ET

GOOD NEWS FOR HILLARY

Obamacan   February 14th, 2008 6:22 pm ET

YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN!

Joe   February 14th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

My question to Hillary Supporters!

Hillary talks about her 35 years experience but she can't even run her campaign! She raised $140 million and with out of control spending she have to loan her campaign $5 million. IF SHE CAN"T EVEN RUN HER CAMPAIGN HOW IS SHE GONNA RUN THE COUNTRY!

Also John Mccain has to get a loan to run his campaign after a disastrous start.

These two talk about experience but can't even run their own campaign.

JC   February 14th, 2008 6:21 pm ET

Guess they actually looked to see that Clinton ahs not done anything for them. Good for them.

Joyce   February 14th, 2008 6:19 pm ET

Didn't a powerful union in Nevada endorsed him too but he still lost? Las Vegas workers choose to vote for Hilary.

Damir   February 14th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Sweet for Obama! "YES WE CAN"!!!!!!!!

JB Hull, IA   February 14th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

Hillary is in for a painful surprise on March 4

Jorge   February 14th, 2008 6:18 pm ET

This is just an example how the Country is getting to know Barack Obama!!! There is a MOVEMENT GROWING and No Clinton is going to be able to stop it!!!!
Obama '08, 12′

Las Mascaras de la Nada   February 14th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

As time goes by, Obama (i.e. warmed over Kerry) looks more and more liberal…so much for change : (

Alohilani   February 14th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Congratulations, Sen. Obama!

Amy   February 14th, 2008 6:17 pm ET

Two points for Obama to state to Hillary Clinton and her supporters:
NAFTA and TAX RETURNS.
..'nuff said.

Papa Roach   February 14th, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Great News! the folks on the ground understand the importance of this election and they will not allow those 'pocket elected democrats' direct them in the wrong direction.

After this election Mrs. Bill Clinton will go back to BAU and forget she even stepped foot in Texas… eating her 'hot peppers'………

Minda Lillie   February 14th, 2008 6:13 pm ET

Seems to me these endorsements haven't produced the results those at the top of these unions think they will. You can suggest to the rank and file, but they can and do actually vote for whomever they want to in the end. I think the bigger problem is race for Obama and gender for Clinton. If voters can get over those two hurtles, then perhaps we would have a more fair process. Obama has benefited from men who don't want a woman at the top, and Hillary has benefited from those who don't want an untested black man at the top. Either way this election will test the prejudices of American voters this fall. Will we continue to be run by men who have messed it up badly or give a woman the chance for once? Will blacks riot in the street if their candidate doesn't win? Obama has already threatened "trouble" if he doesn't win.

Ade   February 14th, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Game, set and match for Obama?

An Agnostic Democrat   February 14th, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Welcome aboard! Let's get down to work and organize.

Looks like people are waking up to the fact that Hillary's campaign manager, Mark Penn, has a well documented history of union busting!

Eric   February 14th, 2008 6:12 pm ET

Obama's campaign has benefitted immensely from exposure. His numbers have continued to rise in states wherein he can devote time to pre-primary campaigning. So when he can now add to that the endorsement of a major labor union active in Texas, Ohio and PA, he'll be certainly able to chip away at her presumptive lead in those states. Who knows, he might even take one of those states. Either way, Hillary's campaign is starting to resemble the Hindenburg.

Murry   February 14th, 2008 6:11 pm ET

Yeah UFCW! My dad worked for that union.

Obama will do right by you!

Now we know where all the Edwards supporters are going.

Bonnie O., Raleigh, NC   February 14th, 2008 6:10 pm ET

Yes We Can.

Obama '08!

Obama 08!

James   February 14th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Hilary Clinton is nice but I dont think we should trust her—- just as Bill Clinton cannot be really trusted. they are one mind you!!!

LatinoNation   February 14th, 2008 6:08 pm ET

Not all union members care what there people at the top due lmao! I dont and Im a Teamster for Hillary

Dre Atlanta   February 14th, 2008 6:07 pm ET

I think this wonderful for the endorsement Obama is getting because American People want changes and they know Obama would bring the country together. Hillary is not to be trusted, I wonder what going on with a campaign managers I feel Hillary should step down and let Obama get the demoncratic party do they job blasting McCain

Independent   February 14th, 2008 6:07 pm ET

Clinton always hopes for the big endorsements. But when Obama gets them, she always comes out and say endorsements don't matter. And that's the woman who wants to be our next president — God forbids.

chevy   February 14th, 2008 6:06 pm ET

Yes, yes yes we can. Another big namer for obama. If things keep on coming like this, and The Texans and Ohioians are smarter than we take them for and vote for Obama this country will be in great euphoria.

Dee   February 14th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Is this going to help Obama? I hope so

Marty, Orlando Fl   February 14th, 2008 6:05 pm ET
