SEIU poised to endorse Obama

(CNN) - CNN has learned the 1.9 million-member Service Employees International Union is poised to endorse Sen. Barack Obama for President.

Three sources familiar with the deliberations said union leaders met via conference call Thursday to deliberate on the endorsement issue. These sources, speaking to CNN on condition of anonymity, said Obama was the overwhelming choice of the union's state and national leadership.

Barring an unexpected complication, the endorsement could be announced as early as Friday morning, the sources said.

It would be a significant boost for Obama, including in the coming major primary battlegrounds of Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania.

Thursday afternoon, Obama received another major labor endorsement likely to help in those delegate rich-states, when the 1.3-million member United Food and Commercial Workers Union decided to back his presidential bid.

To Rohn J who said Obama has never said elect me because I am black–
Then why does he begin every speech with this, "T-h-e-y said this day would never come. T-h-e-y said this could not happen," and then ends each speech with this, "Our time has come." And the slogan, "Yes we can." Of course he intends to draw attention to his race. I am not saying anything is wrong with that–I am just saying...

This is truly the best form of dirty politics. Whoever becomes president, it is just a different face of the special interest.

There are 3 strong female Democratic governors. Any of which would make a better president than Hillary. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them are Obama's running mate.

I am getting very sick of those who just think Obama is just a speechgiver. Yes, he is phenomonal at speaking and inspiring but people are forgetting that there is substance behind his message. He has debated many times and talked about issues and his positions very clearly. Look up and read his website as well. Stop the jeaolusy because your candidate sounds like a old hag or great grandpa. GO OBAMA!

    Kyle,

Barack did not have time to campaign in CA, NV, NY, etc. There is plenty of time before OH and TX. It has been demonstrated that when he has time he does very well. Of course the Clinton name is better known, so if there is little time to campaign Hillary will do better. With all of the time to campaign before March 4th these giant union endorsements do make a big difference. The NV union endorsement came right before the votes, and at the last minute the Clinton people tried to block the effect of the endorsement.

Refuses to debate? Try and pay attention instead of parroting HRC's talking points. There have been EIGHTEEN debates with two more already scheduled for a total of TWENTY. There are other things to be done then debate every day.

Hmm I wonder who Edwards will endorse...?

    To J in AZ: $0

To Kyle: I'm sorry, but we are not "wactivists..." Whatever that is. So what exactly is wrong with strongly supporting someone? Since when is that unacceptable in America? You don't like how strongly we support Barack Obama, get out. We can be excited about someone just as much as you can. Get over it. Personally, I think that you're scared that your candidate won't get the nomination.

    To Darren:

I'll take an old hag or great grandpa anyday. I can tell you were raised to not have respect for your elders. What a pity because they are the ones who have helped make this country so great. Hate to say this but they have lived life with ups and downs whereas Obama has done nothing. He talks about issues but has no idea how to fix them. All he does is sprout BS and if he gets the Democratic nomination then John McCain will be the next president because you are going to see a lot of Democrats voting for him.

Im Canadian but have been swept away by the Dem. election .... We work so close to the US and I believe a vote for Obama is the Smart Choice! I dont trust Hillary ... backed down when fighting for healthcare in the 90's after receiving money from the drug companies and NAFTA... the trade agreement HER Husband signed... she wont keep US jobs in the states.

    GO Obama!

Barack is not a muslim and never has been. If you think he is research before you make un intelligent comments.

Betsy, why is it that there are ignorant people in our country that believe Obama is a muslim? He and many others have made it quite clear that he isn't. Shame on all who don't check their facts.

    GO OBAMA!

I haven't heard too much from Emily's List lately. As a male, I respected them when they supported one of our current Senators here in MN, Amy Klobuchar, because she has principle. Hillary, not so much.

Obamacan- You have to fix the carb BEFORE you can drive the car and if that is what he said then he has never had grease under his nails . It makes me wonder how he is going to "drive" this country if doesn't know you have to fix it first.

Just wanted to point out that there is only one human race. So everyone that keeps saying this is a race v.s. gender is incorrect, and if you truly think that black is a different race you need to probably spend a little time researching the difference between a race and skin pigment.
    Obama 08 ^.^

It is quite interesting that Hillary took NM after her "slick" husband (my opinion) visited Bill Richardson to watch the Super Bowl. (as if that was his purpose- probably un-invited) We are, in my opinion, about to witness the master politician go on the "dirty politics" drive. Barack, get ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In my opinion, these people will DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO WIN!

  23. Hillary is the Status Quo

These 2 unions are big news. And even though he lost Nevada, it was only by 4%. If he loses OH & TX by 4% he still wins the nomination. Hillary will need 55-60% in both states to win.

I think Bill & Solis Doyle screwed this up for Hillary.

I still want to know where the $140 Million went?
