While her mother campaigned in snowy Wisconsin this weekend, Chelsea Clinton got a warm reception in Hawaii.

HONOLULU (AP) – Hawaii is a nice place to campaign, but Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have both had to send relatives as surrogate vote hunters while they stump elsewhere.

Hawaii's Democrats have their say Tuesday on who should be the party's presidential nominee. The state will send 29 delegates to next summer's convention, including 20 to be chosen by the party rank-and-file at this week's caucuses.

Standing in for her mother yesterday, Chelsea Clinton tasted the chili and asked for votes at a popular Hawaiian restaurant called Zippy's.

Barack Obama's half sister asked people at a luncheon on Maui to vote for him. Obama was born in Honolulu but his sister says they're not "taking anything for granted" Tuesday.

to Maria Aleman and all … why only rely on mainstream media to deliver information to you re who you will choose as our next president? Why not do your own research? All candidates have websites and then there is google. Obama's supporters tend to be well educated, well informed citizens who know the issues and his positions on them. In addition, they are inspired by his words. Every created thing or action taken begins with inspiration. People, like myself, are feeling empowered that they can actually make a difference and help improve our world. The world is as we are, each and every one of us, including you. To use words like 'obsession' to describe Obama's supporters is inflammatory and only serves to demonstrate your state of mind. Is that the contribution you really want to make?

Jim, American in Paris   February 17th, 2008 1:49 pm ET

Well don't be surprised if we find out that Barak Obama also has roots in Texas and Ohio before March 4th!

Isn't there a caucus coming up in Kenya?

FEATHER WEIGHT, AMATURE POLITICAL ROOKIE OBAMA CONTINUES TO BE A THREAT TO NATIONAL MATURITY.

BIG EGO AND LITTLE EXPERIENCE HES ABOUT TO HAND THE NEO CONS THE WHITE HOUSE.

AN EXAMPLE OF OBAMAS ABSURD AND RECKLESS AMATURE BEHAVIOR WAS WHEN HE STATED THE U.S. SHOULD BOMB THE HOSTILE TRIBES OF NORTHERN PAKISTAN,INFURIATING THE PREZ OF PAKISTAN.
FOR THOSE WHO DONT KNOW (PERHAPS OBAMA HIM SELF) PAKISTAN IS A NUCLEAR ARMED ALLIE.

WE ALL KNOW WE NEED A HEAVY WEIGHT LIKE HILLARY TO TAKE BACK OUR DEAR WHITE HOUSE! VOTE TO WIN THINK!

Its nice that not only does Chelsea get to take a vacation from her job, but one paid for by donations to the Clinton campaign. Ah… the spoils of power this family is hoping to keep for 4 more years if only Americans will allow their family to stay in power.

It is great that they send someone that can not be questioned or spoken ill of, basically what they whine that Obama is.

Lory   February 17th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Because Hillary was born in Chicago but was disowned by many Illinois voters, Hawaiians should not fall into the same erratic and misplaced notion that merely because Obama was born in Hawaii by accident, they should go Obama. Since Hillary was denied basic and elementary charity at home by many Illini, Obama and his Hawaiian die-hard and hypnotized supporters should not expect it in Hawaii. To educate the Hawaiian's further, Al Gore was Tennessee's Senator for many years and gave Tennessee much honor when he became Vice President of the US. But Tennessee kicked the butt of Al in the 2000 Presidential Elections. So, Hawaiians, wake up to history! THey should decide and vote on the basis of the issues, e.g. Hillary's experience and performance vs. Obama's mere words repeated from past prose and poetry that have always rung with those hearing oratory and rhetorics only the first time in their lives. Many of my relatives in Hawaii are going Hillary!

Trev   February 17th, 2008 12:28 pm ET

Go Chelsea go!. Her performance on the trail has been great so far. Of course, she has more to talk about since HRC has a better plan for the economy, healthcare and foreign policy.

Toni Risalvato   February 17th, 2008 12:10 pm ET

Obama in the Kansas City Star says he lived in Hawaii 14 years. I thought it was two years. Then his Kenyan dad moved on to Kenya, and mother moved on to Indonesia with new husband Lolo. Here is another instance of Obama media, trying to make the people of Hawaii think he is a favorite son. Hawaii and future states who are having primaries or Caucasus, Pin Him Down on the Economy, the Border Enforcement, Mandatory I9 employer verification of employees, just how he would pull us from Iraqi, but at same time, protect us from the future danger, from Iran, China, Russia, and North Korea. These countries already are doing provocative maneuver's.

Many people (even some superdelegates) don't have their own opinion they just float to the crowd. These actions are not different than a dog hearing the other dogs bark then follow to bark. Each person should think what is right and what is wrong then make a choice proply, do not get influenced by the others.
Stay firm in your position !

Emy   February 17th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

"Will you vote for my mommy please..?"

Right, you will act cute and sit pretty and tell us what you want us to hear.. But you will not answer any questions. And you are 28…

Chelsea, For heavens sake grow up and be independent..

Berkeley   February 17th, 2008 11:58 am ET

Obama,
Words without subtance are worth nothing.
Please, show us the facts.

Maria Aleman   February 17th, 2008 11:57 am ET

This frenzy over Barack Obama concerns me very much. It reminds me of the frenzy over George W. Bush after 9/11. No matter what he said or did, nothing could bring his popularity down during this time.

Hardly no one in the media has even bothered to ask what are the issues that Obama stands for. At least I have not heard them.

People seem to be hypnotized by Mr. Obama and the media seems to be under his spell as well. I thought that journalists had to be objective not subjective and CNN as well as other news stations have shown a total lack of objectivity in this presidential race.

We became obsessed with Bush and look where it took us and if we do the same with Obama it could take us down the same perilous path.

Please give the other candidates the same opportunities to express their views as you have so easily done with the Obama camp.

I never jumped on the Bush bandwagon and I will not jump on the bandwagon of the person who the press, politicians and pundits say that I need to jump on. I have never considered myself a follower.

I support the candidate who seems to have the most knowledge about the issues. The candidate who has a record of being a doer not a talker like many politicians out there. I truly feel that Hillary Clinton is the best candidate out there. Whether you like her or not, whether you like her husband or not I feel she is the best prepared to take on this most difficult and challenging job.

Please put your biases aside and give her and the other candidates the opportunity to express their views just as you have given the Obama camp most of your air time ( always positive I might add)

I used to watch CNN all the time, now I am turning to the International news stations that give a more equal and objective analysis of what is happening with this race, not the bias news that is shown continuously.

Iam the kind of person that the more you try to shove an idea or a person down my throat the more turned off I become. Many people feel the same way also.

CNN shame on you! I truly felt you were the best News out there, but you have shown me otherwise. I hope all the hype and excitement you have shown over Obama doesn;t backfire just like the Bush obsession did.

Troy   February 17th, 2008 11:39 am ET

I guess they haven't learned about the scandals she has been involved in, or that is the first first Lady to be in dieted on a crime! Or maybe they don't know she has a court date this month about her campaign funds. with all that being said I would still vote for her if Barrack wasn't in this race, lol!

oscar duran   February 17th, 2008 11:39 am ET

"change is the heart of history if we dnt change we will be history" i saw bill clinton ar a rally even though bill clinton is on of my favorite us presidents..i too feel its time for new leadership and change because we are in diffretn times now and things desperatly need change and it be good for a new face in whitehouse go barak08

Ana in Shanghai   February 17th, 2008 11:32 am ET

I think she´s great.
Can anyone ask them why Obama wants to double foreign aid by 2012? Any where is he plannin to sent it to?

Anthony   February 17th, 2008 11:25 am ET

Bloggers are saying that Obama only give good speeches with no solutions. But answer me this, there are 3 Clintons campaigning against Obama and Obama is still winning. And remember, Obama has the support from a majority of young college students and intelligent Americans, whom are the ones that can see right through the smoke screen of the Clintons. Plus Obama raises more money than the Clintons. I don't think all of these Americans are donating money just to hear speeches with no "SOLUTIONS".

Janet   February 17th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Well at least we can depend on Chelsea to be reasonable and not sling empty mud at Barack Obama. She is more respectable than her mother and father and I can only credit that to the fact that she did not spend much time with them growing up (nannies, other relatives, school far away from them)

Curliss   February 17th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Go Chelsea! Educated voters know who is the best candidate. The only person who can beat McCain is your mother! Obama just cant do it…Good luck!

ANTI CLINTONS   February 17th, 2008 11:18 am ET

This is Obama's backyard, Clinton will lose, thank goodness!

Obama!

Gary   February 17th, 2008 11:17 am ET

Very admirable. Go Chelsea! I hope HAWAII will vote for HILLARY, you definitely embodies a modern woman who is mature. HILLARY will be proud of you. HILLARY is the person who is qualified to lead us and HAWAII will see this!

Mick   February 17th, 2008 11:16 am ET

Can't believe the press is finally talking about Obamas's family, lets hear more about the Mother and Father, Obama acks like he has none, I have not heard him mention them lately.
YES WE CAN

Maggie   February 17th, 2008 11:14 am ET

Another issue I have is that Mr. Obama has been applauded constantly by the people for his stance on t Mrs. Clinton's stand on the war. What the heck is he lavishing himself in? He was not a Senator at the Federal level, he was a State Senator in Illinois. He did not have, was not privy, did not review, the confidential information which Mrs. Clinton had to make a decision on. Her job was representing the people at the Federal level, where the actual heavy decisions are made for the whole of the US. Mr. Obama DID NOT VOTE AGAINST THE WAR. HE WAS NOWHERE IN THE FEDERAL SENATE AT THE TIME.

Charlotte   February 17th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Go Hillary……………..We must win, Obama is more than scary. Makes me think of voodoo.

Bill Jay   February 17th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Lets go Hillary…….08……it is our year.

Brian   February 17th, 2008 10:48 am ET

Hawaii voters aren't going to take for granted the years Obama spent there.

Go Hillary 08   February 17th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Go Hillary 08. The tide is turning your way. You are the Hope and Solution for America!!

Sarah Smith   February 17th, 2008 10:43 am ET

My children would like to campaign in Hawaii too right now.

Sorry kids.

Black Republican   February 17th, 2008 10:43 am ET

Nobody wants to hear what Hillary Clinton-lite has to say.

Charlotte   February 17th, 2008 10:41 am ET

This campaign is scary, I can't believe so many people could be swept up in the frenzy of Obama-mania. It's almost as if he is getting help from the outter limits. It is like, surreal. Hopefully people will come out of the trance in time to save this country.

Hawaiian Girl   February 17th, 2008 10:40 am ET

Go Chelsea!!! Take Hawaii for your mom, the best and most prepared candidate of the 2008 race. Yeah Hillary!!!!! Hawaiians love you!

Hawaiian Brother   February 17th, 2008 10:40 am ET

Does anyone want to look at that fake looking Chelsea Clinton in the White House? She doesn't share the real struggles that most people face, and she has never experienced those struggles. Sorry Chelsea, but you don't connect with common people. Go back to the inland states.

Sue, Michigan   February 17th, 2008 10:38 am ET

When the story about Chelsea going to Hawaii was fist posted, people were slamming Hillary for sending her daughter to campiagn. What, no vitriol about Obama's half-sister being there in his place? Another example of the media bias toward Obama, and the waay that encourages voters to slant their views as well.
Go Hillary!

Frank   February 17th, 2008 10:30 am ET

To me it sounds odd when a 29-year old says "Will you vote for my mommy ?" I just don't get the point …

Hamza   February 17th, 2008 10:09 am ET

and the nominee for President 2024 is Chelsea Clinton …

2009-2016: Hillary
2017-2024: Tedd Bush
2024- 2032: Chelsea
then Bush …
I guess this is what you take of spending most of time watching and travelling to third world, and Middle East in particular

the lastest updates:
Mubarak of Egypt annouces endorsment for his son as President
Qathafi of Libya for his daughter
Saleh of Yemen for his son
Zain Abdeen of Tunis for his brother
Fedel Castro for his brother

what a life, and what a world we were once promised!
