Watch Bill Clinton say Wednesday a loss in Texas could mean the end of his wife's presidential campaign. (Photo Credit: AP)

(CNN) — Bill Clinton added his voice Thursday to a growing chorus of those who say Hillary Clinton must win both the Texas and Ohio primaries on March 4 to keep her presidential chances alive.

Campaigning in Beaumont, Texas, the former president bluntly told a crowd it's up to them whether his wife's candidacy continues.

"If she wins in Texas and Ohio I think she will be the nominee," he said. "If you don't deliver for her then I don't think she can. It's all on you."

Bill Clinton's comments are his most frank to date about his wife's presidential chances, and comes a day after she suffered her ninth and tenth straight loss to rival Barack Obama.

Earlier Wednesday, Hillary Clinton maintained her campaign is moving forward, though she conceded Obama has had a "couple of good weeks."

"It is time to get real," the New York senator also said. "To get real about how we actually win this election… It is time to move from good words to good works — from sound bites to sound solutions."

Bill Clinton's comments echo those of his one-time adviser James Carville, a current supporter of Hillary Clinton, who recently said of the New York senator, "Make no mistake. If she loses either Texas or Ohio, this thing is done."

The Clinton campaign itself has increasingly placed importance on those two delegate-rich contests following a string of losses, though it has not suggested the New York senator may exit the race should she lose either contest.

Come on Bill, give it up. I know you are trying to stand by your girl..but lets be real about this..IT DOES NOT MATTER IF SHE WINS…she is OUT.

Jen   February 20th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

It's over, Clintons. Bill, she started sinking when you started opening your mouth too much.

JohnS   February 20th, 2008 6:40 pm ET

Hillary is looking evry, very old these days, Well, let us read on
No Substance to Obama? here is what Shane from NY wrote:

"Ok Obama was involved in the Senate's drive for improved border security and immigration reform. In 2005, he co-sponsored the "Secure America and Orderly Immigration Act" introduced by Sen. John McCain(interesting right). I'm just starting, he was also involved in adding three amendments to Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act in 2006.

There was "Lugar-Obama" which expands the Nunn-Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept to conventional weapons, including shoulder-fired missiles and anti-personnel mines. There was the "Coburn-Obama Transparency Act" which provided oversight for our government website and where funds were being allocated(keeping them honest).

He is a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee which focused on trying to curb wmd's. Obama worked with Russ Feingold to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act". Sounds like he is just talking about fighting lobbyist.

He also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act" to put a cap on our troops. He sponsored 2008 Defense Authorization Act which provided safeguards for our disabled veterans(he cares about our troops). So I think we can stop talking about his experience now. Seems like he did a lot in Congress"

Still ignorant? If so, pleast go the Obama's webpage. With all her years in the Senate, Hillary has not had a single solution to any real needs of this nation!!!

Phil, Washington, DC   February 20th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

Finally Bill has told it like it is..win Texas AND Ohio or we are through. I wonder if he thinks "the dream" or "the get real" comments about Obama helped or hurt. I guess I can see why Al Gore asked Bill not to campaign for him in 2000.

suzy   February 20th, 2008 6:42 pm ET

LET"S GO TEXAS and OHIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anna, SW Missouri   February 20th, 2008 6:43 pm ET

Dear Senator Clinton, where have you been? We have been getting "real," we are making decisions based on "sound solutions" and we are voting for Barack Obama as the solution for this country.

Charle   February 20th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

If experience and/or years in Washington are all that counts, why not immediately appoint Dick Cheney the next president of the USA? He's been there from the moment I started to pay attention to USA politics somewhere in the eighties. On the other hand, with all the experience and Washington saffiness bundled into the Bush administration, why then have they made such a mess of both your domestic and international politics? With all HRC's expercience, why is she trailing Obama? Why didn't she get her campaign right from day one? The US have turned bad under her watch, what has she done to prevent this from happening? She had herr shot on universal health care in the nineties. Fifteen years later, the richest country in the world provides her citizens healh care that is worse than in many poor countries.
Clinton and McCain are actually saying to an incredible number of voters in the USA that they are brainless fools, following an unexperienced preacher without substance. He's all hat, no cattle. What does that actually say about them? If a fast majority of voters, not to mention the millions of people around the world, prefers to follow that "words magician" with is empty rhetoric, have all these people suddenly lost their minds or should we by now conclude that Clinton did a poor job convincing the electorate that she is the right person to lead the US and the world?
the more they try to disqualify Barack Obama, the more it becomes an embarresment for themself. With all your experience and all HRC's experience and superior qualities, still she loses from a freshman? It's not just words, it's the message and more importantly, it's the messenger. How I wish I were an American today, so I could join those millions who opt for change. Yes I'm inspired by Barack Obama, for what he stands for and mostly for the way he got so many to be positive again.I'm fired up and ready to join this inexperienced Illinois senator in hisquest for a better USA AND a better world. All the way from Amsterdam Netherlands!!!!

Darth Vadik, CA   February 20th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

Thank God a Clinton has said it.
I respect Bill more for this last comment, than anything else he has done during Hillary's campaign.
Maybe its dawning on them finally what everybody has seen in the last few weeks.

lc   February 20th, 2008 6:46 pm ET

I still think that all of the SUPERDELEGATES who PREMATURELY

supported Hillary based upon a loyalty to Bill and Bill's experience

should RECONSIDER- NOW!!!

Brian   February 20th, 2008 6:47 pm ET

Thank you for the blueprint, Bill. Hillary will be done in a few short weeks.

Enjoy the rest of your retirement!

David Galazyn   February 20th, 2008 6:48 pm ET

He is right. Losing either of the two states will mean an end to her chances. I am sure lots of people are very proud of how far she has come. Rush Limbaugh may have some views that I disagree with but he has one great saying about politics. " Perception is Reality" In this race the perception is she is now a loser. She will have to pull out a miracle to recapture the lead.

Sly   February 20th, 2008 6:49 pm ET

At least Bill is honest about it.. that's what I've been saying all along!!

OBAMA 08!

Tim   February 20th, 2008 6:51 pm ET

Saw this coming….if she doesn't win, its your fault, voters!
Feel the guilt!!
LOL….they are almost finished folks. Lets make Bill a man of his word and vote Obama the winner of Texas.

Nick   February 20th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

I amazed at how she ignores the states she's lost, like those primaries never existed, like those people that did vote for her never voted.

It just shows that she's out for herself, and only cares about you if she gets her way.

Cee Dubya   February 20th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

Should be an interesting debate tomorrow night!

Regine   February 20th, 2008 6:52 pm ET

Good bye Hillary! She needs to drop out!!!! So we can focus on a win against McCain!

Jim in FL   February 20th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

For one of the few times ever, I agree with Bil Clinton. If Hillary loses Texas, its "Hillary says goodbye, Obama says Hello ! Hello Hello !! Its 'bout time you said Goodbye, Obama says Hello !!

enomisa   February 20th, 2008 6:54 pm ET

Bill I hope not.
The hopes of this country depend on Hillary.
Without her, we will have a McCain landslide.
Simply because us democrats feel our primary was stolen by the republicans and independents who boosted the Obama votes.

We WANT Hillary.

Why were the republicans and independents allowed to vote in the democratic primary and split this race. Now Obama has a slight lead and might actually win.

IF Obama wins, MANY democrats will be too busy mourning and we will NOT jump on the bandwagon.

June (California Voter)   February 20th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

I agree with President Bill Clinton. If she losses Texas or Ohio,I say forget it.

Texasboo   February 20th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

The fat lady is warming up her voice……

Clinton managed a horrible campaign and not even her name, status, dirty tricks, divise tactics, entitlement, and name recognition will help not help her win.

TEXAS FOR OBAMA

Jonathan in Chicago   February 20th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

You heard the President.

Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island — Let's wrap this up and secure the nomination for Obama. We have the momentum. We can end the back and forth, and begin the campaign for the Presidency with your help! Mobilize for Obama and deliver a strong win for us in your states. If you do, if each of your states rise to win for Obama, the pressure on the Clintons to suspend their campaign and support the Obama nomination will permit us all to begin the work of building a national movement for change that will culminate in a November win against McCain.

We can do this. We can make history together. We can send a message to the Clintons, to the DNC, to the Super Delegates, and to the American people, that we are ready to stand up for ourselves and each other, that we are ready to embrace the urgency of this moment, that we are ready to be empowered — in short, that we are ready to elect Barack Obama President of the United States of America.

Yes, We Can!

van w   February 20th, 2008 6:55 pm ET

First, i am an Obama supporter. Hillary needs to stop being negative and be herself.she needs to talk about her accomplishments and where she wants this country to go. Her experience is not that much more than Barack's.She has to start inspiring people with hope that she will not be a polarizing force if she gets in office. she has to stop disinfranchising her supporters. she did not even acknowledge the Wisconsin voters who went out in 5 degree weather to vote for her. she says red states and caucus states can be ignored. Personally, i think it is too late.

enomisa   February 20th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

I pray that America comes to its senses before it is too late and rallies behind Hillary.

Obama you split our party. We will defect before we vote for you.

charlie hamelin   February 20th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Barak Obama is winning because he is saying out loud what the people think and feel in the bottom of there hearts

Kelly Anne   February 20th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Is that a promise?

Please drop out. Leave this gracefully. You have caused enough damage to the party.

Everyone is tired of you.

Let's not draw out this ugly defeat.

nette5   February 20th, 2008 6:56 pm ET

Well, I guess its over then. How dare he all of a sudden want us to do something for him? Bill please your wife the whole time of her campaign up to now has been telling us what she is going to do, and how much experience she had; she has been talking at us for months now, so I decided to turn the other way. I have gotten tired of the old politics, I HAVE CHANGED. Now you want me to do what? I think not. Its over. Hey bill? you know, you can swing your vote Obama way, I won't tell. Bill, Tell your wife to put the mic down, and let Obam and Mccain at it.

Disappointed   February 20th, 2008 6:57 pm ET

Don't put the blame on the voters in Texas or Ohio if she loses Bill. She made her choice when she decided to follow your lead and then married you. Too bad there weren't any super delegates around to get her out of that mess

Eight years was enough! Bill was a lame Commander in Chief, the thought of her in that place makes me sick.

Jeanine G   February 20th, 2008 6:59 pm ET

Remember folks…"if YOU don't Deliver it TO her"…she will lose.

What are we…the post office?

I prefer it when the candidates deliver their message to us instead, and if Hillary isn't delivering it, if she keeps losing, if people start to pull further away from her, then who does she blame? Us.

Deliver Hillary, or step outta the way, you're in the path of the Barack Delivery Truck, and he isn't slowing down.

enomisa   February 20th, 2008 7:00 pm ET

TOO many of us want Hillary.

We will not accept the co-optation of our democratic party primary by newbie independents and republicans who voted not FOR Obama but to knock Hillary out. Then they will abandon Obama and go back to their party.

We will not allow the voters of 2 states to be disenfranchised.

We will not allow the superdelegates to represent the will of the independents or republicans over the will of the registered voters of the democratic party.

With all of that against her, Hillary is SOOOOOOOOOOO close. It is NOT too late to make it happen.

God Bless Hillary

Binh   February 20th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

Wow.. Now Bill's putting the blame on the people if Hillary fails to win the nomination! It's your fault people! You should have anointed her Queen of the World!

Chauncey Toler   February 20th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

If Hillary does not win Texas then she might very well kiss the election good by. This is a BIG state. So you could say that. But you can not count Hillary out. I am an Obama supporter that does not count out Hillary just yet. Even though I think she will lose this race to Obama.

booyaa   February 20th, 2008 7:01 pm ET

You got that right!

Ed   February 20th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

Yes Bill,

It will end in Texas for you, and Hillary. But hey, on the brighter side? Barack will probably put both of you to work in his Administration. So cheer up!

OBAMA 08!!!!

AntiBrenda   February 20th, 2008 7:02 pm ET

It's been over since Bill's South Carolina cheap shots.

Bill, you broke what Hillary supporters have been building for her since the campaign started.

melissa   February 20th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

Time to pack it up, Clintons, and go home!

eclecticbf   February 20th, 2008 7:03 pm ET

It great to finally hear some realness from Bill. I'm going to Texas to knodk on as many doors as I can between Houston and Corpus. She is not winning Texas, but I hope the damage she attempts until then is not lasting.

GRACE, SUN CITY CENTER, FL   February 20th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

PROMISES, PROMISES

JpJ   February 20th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

He was also saying that if she wins both Ohio and Texas, Hillary should be the nominee regardless of the delegate count. This seems a little odd, because even if she wins both, she will have a hard time catching Obama.

Craig, Wa.   February 20th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

whew….the way she's run her campaign…

makes you wonder what kind of president she would make?

enomisa   February 20th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

Go Hillary!!!!

God help us if Obama were to win.

There would be an uproar of protest. Because the majority of registered, voting, democrats VOTED for and WANT Hillary.

The Obama campaign was sure sneaky, stealing the vote by bumping up the number of newbies and independents and republicans who got to sway the primary of the democratic party. They negated the votes of the few registered democrats who actually GOT to vote, or who got their vote counted.

What folly. WE- the democratic party members- get to pick our nominee, Not people who have never voted before and may never vote again.

Shame on you DNC for this MESS

Obamacan   February 20th, 2008 7:04 pm ET

BILL IS FOR OBAMA!!

Jay Long   February 20th, 2008 7:06 pm ET

Wow, there is so much racism. I am very scared to have Barak Obama as President. I'm not sure that he has what it takes to run the largest corporation in the world. As far as his wife, she is ignorant. I think he is an incredible speaker and promises everything that America wants to hear. After the current 8 year mistake we've made, we are all reaching for a breath of fresh air. I'm not sure that Clinton, by herself, would give us that, but I don’t think its Obama alone either. I think Clinton should get the nomination and choose Obama as her VP. That'll give him some experience and set him up for eight years down the road. She’ll have the support of his new ideas and I think all democrats would be happy and beat the Republican Party in November.

I think Hilary needs to get her act together. Obama’s campaign is VERY strategic and it's showing. She needs to come off as a powerful person and stop slamming Obama every opportunity she gets. She also needs a new marketing strategy. Americans would like new ideas and speeches from her while maintaining her core beliefs. We grow bored easily and need action. She's become dull and repetitive. STEP IT UP HILARY AND CHOOSE OBAMA AS YOUR VP. I think that's your only shot at this. Good luck in Texas!!!!

J. Long

V from St. Louis   February 20th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Even if she does win Ohio and Texas, it wont be by a lot. So she wont gain much ground on Obama. Man it isn't looking to good for her right now….

Obama has gain a lot of ground on her in Texas too. I wouldn't be surprise if he actually takes Texas.

roy CA   February 20th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

its all on you, bill says. this campaign was jacked from the start. how can he say something is all on someone else. this shows that the clintons are all about using people as a step stool to get where they want to go. obama says lets get to where we want to go together by pulling together. there is a difference here if you take the time to think about it.

Justin   February 20th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Clinton is Texas Toast.

Cathy   February 20th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

Us democrates want Hillary. The independents and republicans voted for Obama. He is representing the wrong party. What a farce.

Texas Democrat   February 20th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

I have to conclude that the self-identified Obama supporters who post these messages are either a hateful (and stupid) bunch or the Republicans in disguise. How are your comments going to unite the Democratic Party should Obama win the nomination? You certainly don't think Obama can win without Hilary supporters, do you?? Maybe you are too obtuse to realize that.

Jimmy, TEXAS   February 20th, 2008 7:17 pm ET

Who needs endorsements or money as long as Obama has CNN. Maybe Hillary should save her money and time and go independent. In the end, it's going to be the experienced candidate that wins the White House.

al   February 20th, 2008 7:18 pm ET

Last night Senator Obama spoke about the victims of the subprime mortgage scandal, too bad that could not have gotten the same sweet deal Obama got with his $1.6 million chicago residence

Kat, Huntington, West Virginia   February 20th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

Good God-Come on people! Are you all really this naive? Haven't any of you noticed that Obama has quietly dropped his pledge to withdraw from Iraq? He now says he'll withdraw under certain "conditions". So he's already hedging. He keeps saying that he was against the war and that McCain will keep us there "for a hundred years". But in between those two points he leaves a LOT of room to shift his position.
And that is exactly what he's doing. He never talks about his votes to fund the war or exactly how he will get us out-this man is not fit to be president of the US.

Steve   February 20th, 2008 7:19 pm ET

enomisa, pleazzzzzzz!

Clinton is done. It's to late for them to start thinking about the campaign. This is a result of poor leadership and management and doesn't deserve the white house. We need pros not complacency.

Cathy   February 20th, 2008 7:20 pm ET

Bill sees the writing on the wall, I wonder if Hillary does. If Hillary loses Texas and/or Ohio, she will claw and scratch her way to the convention even if it means tearing the Democratic party to pieces.

Kit   February 20th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Quit the whining all you Obama supporters. You won't let the votes of two states be registered for fear of your empty promise man losing. Quit attacking Hillary, Bill is not the nominee neither is Michelle. Give it a break, you who cast your stones are the worst, look in your own house first.

Jared   February 20th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Time for the Clintons to setp aside so that Obama and the DNC can focus against McCain.

Think Critically   February 20th, 2008 7:21 pm ET

Don't be fooled. He's just trying to create the underdog dynamic as a last ditch attempt to get people to the polls. This is the voting equivalent of the $5 million campaign loan.

JJ   February 20th, 2008 7:22 pm ET

Its over Hillary, and Bill, you had your time so get lost. Obama is what this country needs at this time in history after the legacy of the worst president EVER! Who I may add needs to be impeached……

Even if she wins Texas and Ohio, she will need huge margins to offset the lead from Obama. Bill knows this and he is starting the concession speech already…

Now, Hillrites dont know whether it is CNN or Bill Clinton that is biased….

Go Hillart, but run your own show this time…

Lynne Kieper   February 20th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

Voters who vote inspiration over substance will get the president they deserve. It's unfortunate that those of us who are concerned about the economy, foriegn policy, regaining global respect, balancing the budget, health care, etc., will also be subject to the choice of the less informed. The media has embraced Obama as the messianic candidate, but centrist Democrats, upon closer scrutiny, will regret the much more liberal choice and some may defect and vote for McCain. That is sad, since that vote is a rubber stamp for four more years of the failed Bush policies. I hope the good people of Texas, Ohio, and PA will shake themselves out of the fairy dust of Obama's rhetoric and elect the only candidate qualified to deal with the problems we face as a nation, and that is Hillary Clinton.

Bill Clinton needs to stop pointing that finger in the faces of the people he is addressing. It's insulting. Does he think he's talking to small naughty children. I stop listening to him when that finger starts to point. He should have learned his lesson during that TV interview when he swore he never had relations with that women and pointed that offending finger in the faces of the American public. Does he think we've forgotten? I haven't.

That obviously explains 10 wins in a row for Obama, not to mention the surge in Obama votes on SuperTuesday.

I don't think our country need some one like obama at this time.

As I watch ( Deal or no Deal show) I see all smart people take the deal and go home with money because it is real. We should go with Hillary and score a win. Not to go after obama and take a big risk.

"There would be an uproar of protest. Because the majority of registered, voting, democrats VOTED for and WANT Hillary".

The above quote is simply factually inaccurate. There is no conspiracy or convoluted chain of bizarre excuses that explains Senator Clinton's many primary and caucus losses. Democratic voters have chosen and continue to choose Barack Obama. That's all there is to it.

It would have been more accurate for the poster to write "I VOTED for and WANT Hillary. And now I'm mad that everyone disagrees with me". Let's end this self-pitying nonsense and work together to win in November.

Let's grow-up and represent our candidate better. Senator Obama would definitely not approve of some of these messages. He's trying to change this negativity in politics.

Come on, lets be gracious winners and no matter how negative others try to bring down our campaign, lets not sink to that level.

Republicans are voting for Obama in droves, so they can keep the white house come November.

enomisa   February 20th, 2008 7:33 pm ET

We need to start this election over.

The DNC allowed the republicans and independents to co-opt our primary.

Why does their vote count MORE than the vote of registered democratic party voters? Many of the deomocrats could not attend caucuses to vote, many are disenfranchised by the DNC punishing 2 states for breaking the scheduling rules. Now the DNC whats the superdelegates to vote the will of the republicans and the independents and NOT the will of the party faithful.

There are only so many ways the democrats can disenfranchise their base and still expect us to show up at the Polls in the general election and vote democratic. No way!

Julie, Binghamton, NY   February 20th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

If Obama wins, I am know at least 5 people in purple states who are not voting next fall. Good luck Obama fans- you're in for a rude awakening! Once Obama gets kicked off that pedestal of his, the party's over.

Paul Naranjo   February 20th, 2008 7:34 pm ET

Hillary, you will make a great President, you are proud of our nation!
It is time for change, but we cannot entrust our nation in the hands of an unexperienced individual who can deliver eloquent speeches. Do we still believe in fairytales? If that was the case, then, we 'd better stay as we are with the Republicans who at least will have an experienced candidate running for president.
If you are a real Democrat, then vote for change and make history with Hillary, do not vote because you like or dislike someone, but instead, think twice and decide who has the most experience to be commander and chief on day one.
Aren’t most voters females and elderly, aren’t we as Latinos thankful with the Clintons for their care and support of us all.
Then let us make a real difference by voting for the person who will truly improve both our economy and our lives because she cares. Only then, we will make a difference in the world, while we make history
Hillary 08!

Super liberal freaks will destroy the democratic party soon. These idiots think that the country is also excited about Obama.
I will put these moveon.org jerks in the same ship with evangelical freaks

t   February 20th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

For those who say that Obama "split the party" you need to check the poles. As of yesterday almost all of Hillarys supporters would back Obama if he is the nominee. The reverse cannot be said of the Obama folks. The reason makes sense because they are dedicated to change and Hillary is not it. Yet Hillary supporters will go for Obama… hmmm

tickered   February 20th, 2008 7:35 pm ET

Bill, Can we get that in writing?

Dalton, AL   February 20th, 2008 7:36 pm ET

Thank goodness Hopeless Hillary is almost out the door.

Texas, Vermont, Rhode Island, Ohio: America is counting on you–go big, or go home, baby!

Barack All The Way!!!!!!!!

gene   February 20th, 2008 7:47 pm ET

Why in the world are you criticizing President Clinton for that statement. Its true, if he said anything different you would have spinned it as some kind of lie. Everybody and their brother knows that Texas and Ohio was going to be the firewall. If she win Texas and Ohio and throws in Rhode Island for good measure, she will wind up the nominee. Those jokers over at MSNBC, NBC and Newsweek will have a nervous breakdown and that includes Tim Russert.

Randy Ferguson   February 20th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

what's the definition of the word "do"?

sean c   February 20th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

The guilt trip Hillary Clinton/Bill Clinton put on the good people of Texas was unnecessary. Vote for Hillary, or else you THE PEOPLE OF TEXAS will put her out of the race.

How about we implicate Hillary/Bill Clinton in the same sort of guilt trip - If Obama should lose the general election - we can thank them for dividing the Democratic Party.

NickNasc   February 20th, 2008 7:50 pm ET

Dear ENOMISA

I think I speak for ALL who read your post when I say…

WHAT!!???????

That is all.

Rosa Peralta. San Antonio. Texas   February 20th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Obama offers only hope for those who like to dream. However, lately he is saying "It won't be easy because change won't come only with legislation and hope, we need something…" He did not say what. He does not know but people have decided to trust him. Good luck to all Obama supporters. I just wish they will take responsibility when our country goes to hell if he wins. Maybe the people from Texas will save our country and the democratic nominee will be Mrs. Clinton otherwise we will have to vote republican.

OBAMAman   February 20th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

Actually guys, Obama is also asking the voters of those states to help him win.
That is what campaigns do.
Isn't that what they all do/ want?

Deb   February 20th, 2008 7:54 pm ET

Bill, it's over. Pack your bags. You and Hillary are finished. Cracks me up that you sent darling Chels to Hawaii to campaign and look how big the loss was there. Nothing is working.

GO'BAMA!

L.W.   February 20th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Enough is enough Hillary…Your dismissed!

Gene said earlier: "Everybody and their brother knows that Texas and Ohio was going to be the firewall. If she win Texas and Ohio and throws in Rhode Island for good measure, she will wind up the nominee"
I agree. Our country cannot afford anymore mistakes. Obama will not deliver. Hillary will. For God's Sake, read her policies, her "Blueprint to jumpstart the economy". Don't vote for empty rethorics, vote for the president who will actually transform, change our economical situation. Vote for Hillary Clinton! WE CANNOT AFFORD ANY MORE MISTAKES!!

Copy Cat   February 20th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Now Hillary has updated her speech….easy enough just copy OBAMA!!!

WAH!

JIm M   February 20th, 2008 8:01 pm ET

Former President Clinton is absolutely wrong , once again, if Hillary is to become the Democratic nominee then she needs to deliver to voters and it is all on her. If she doesn't deliver, people simply will not vote for her. Isn't it about time they take responsiblity for theiir own actions??

Judy Jetsen   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

This is more than bordering on propaganda! There is either no media coverage or negative reports ONLY about Hillary.
And Barak who is a slick lawyerly hustler come preacher is lauded to the skies. Nothing negative has been reported although there is plenty of meat there.
This is election by media. A total farce and just one more way the American public is being used badly.
The Obama biased in the media is another form of fraud.

Yeswecan   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Now you start begging for votes. " Please vote for us or we will lose". Sob sob.
She is going nuts trying to bring up stuff like supporters do not know of Obama's accomplishment. Is this the way we want our president to react in a difficult situation.

Ray, Venice, CA   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Enomisa,

I just wanted to point out you are the only Hillary supporter to post a comment, or should I say comments. Do you work for her campaign? If so, you might need to look for a new job soon.

All the lame excuses you come up with will not change the fact that the majority of this country wants Obama to be our next president. Maybe it's time for your to "Get Real".

Obama08!!!!!!

John   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

I guess this means that the people of New York are going to be stuck with her as a state Senator for a bit longer. She has done nothing for the state of New York. She promised 250,000 new jobs to the people of western NY, since that promise they have lost another 30,000. She can't even run a state let alone be President.

Chris   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

The outline of Obama's Senate career above is pathetic. If that is all he has done, he definitely does lack experience. Good grief, GWB had more on his resume than that!

Sharon   February 20th, 2008 8:02 pm ET

Texas & Ohio
"Yes We Can" We did it… now you can do it! Send Hillary home!
It's time for Obama to campaign against McCain and the old establishment.

The Clinton era is gone! We are ready for the future! And the Only Solution for the future is Obama.

Delilah   February 20th, 2008 8:06 pm ET

It is amazing to me the number of Clinton supporters and the Clintons themselves are now upset about Michigan and Florida delegates will not be seated. In 2007 when the decision was made the Clintons understood and agreed to the penalty. Now, that it isn't going their way, the DNC is dumb and unfair. You CAN'T change the rules in the middle of the game. Sorry, folks… them's the rules.

ser,ca   February 20th, 2008 8:07 pm ET

I tell you all Obama's supporter will be surprised on March 04 because Hillary will win in Texas & Ohio "big time". Don't count her out yet it is still possible for her to win the nomination and I have this gut feeling that she will. Do you really believe that Obama will win in Alaska, Georgia, Alabama, Maryland, Wisconsin, Colorado, Texas , New Mexico and Florida against McCain? I doubt. Only Hillary can beat McCain in those states except for the first three states that I have mentioned. Another thing if Obama can't win in Ohio & Florida let's face it he can't win the Presidency. So I'm calling all Democrats in Texas, Ohio, Pensylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Michigan & Florida to rally behind Hillary for her to win the nomination. Let us show to the media that majority of Democrats are behind Hillary and that they can't
program our mindset nor twart our will.

Jorge from California   February 20th, 2008 8:07 pm ET

enomisa:

Funny that you seem to be the only one who says Obama is splitting the party, while more of your Hillary supporters are starting to vote for him. Hillary is done, she needs to get over her ego and let Obama get started against McCain.

Maybe if she spent more time telling voters why her experience mattered, or what kind of substance or accomplishments she actually had, she wouldn't be losing. Instead, she decided to play dirty. Well, what goes around comes around Hillary…

John   February 20th, 2008 8:08 pm ET

Amy Q   February 20th, 2008 8:09 pm ET

Judging by the numerous posts you've placed, I can see you are upset. Pull yourself together and back Obama. He and Hillary aren't that far apart on the issues, so it shouldn't be that hard to line up behind a candidate that shares a similar platform.

Unless you are so pissed off that you can't sit back and reason it out.

Obama '08!!!

jim t   February 20th, 2008 8:11 pm ET

She will definitely lose Texas. By a big margin too. She will take Latino voters on the Texas/Mexico border but she will lose Obama's now natural demographics and she will also lose white women ( and white males by a huge margin and this group will turn out in numbers). Her fundamental problem is, ironically, the converse of Obama's strenght - the more people see of her the less they like her.

mary   February 20th, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Bill knows in his heart that Obama is the best candidate.

Catallina   February 20th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

Is the coutnry going to make ANOTHER huge mistake and note vote for the most qualified candidate, again!! Yes, I really, really like Obama, but the truth ias I see it is that he is NOT the most qualified candidate — experience is a crucial component. I believe with all my heart that Hilary has what it takes. We need a strong, intelligent, experienced person for the huge job that is U.S. Presidency. Yes, Obama is exciting and inspiring — but he is a JUNIOR senator — he will make a great President, but not right NOW. We are at a crucial time in history, and I believe the changes Hilary would make will serve each & every American. I think having Bill is a huge plus. He is extremely intelligent. What a refreshing change it would be to have "Intelligence" back in the White House.

Lu   February 20th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

There were rules before the game started. Out of fairness no rule should be changed in the middle of the game. With that said: there are two categories of delegates: one you gain through voting (pledge delegates) and the other merits or other (super delegates). The super delegates did not get their status from the voters so they should vote according to their choice.

leob   February 20th, 2008 8:14 pm ET

It will be too bad America if Hillary loses. It will just be another man in control of another country. Lose the testosterone for heaven's sake.

Go Obama   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Bill Clinton at the concession stand.

JCruz   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

For once Bill speaks the truth. Without Texas and Ohio, Hillary can't win. The Republicans voting for Obama have accomplished their goal. Now if only the Huckster would pack his bags and go back to Arkansas.

Sue   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Do you Obama people really think that all those Republicans and Independents are going to vote for Obama? Many only voted for him in the open Democratic primaries and caucuses to defeat Hillary. Most will return to their Republican roots and vote for McCain in the fall or they won't vote at all.

I also know many Democrats like myself who are completely turned off by Obama's mean spirited cult like following and will not vote for him in the general election. He's very good at making empty promises but I don't feel that he has the necessary qualifications to be our President. The incompetent DNC deserves what it gets.

kathy   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

MY VOTE is not
NOT NOT GOING TO HILLARY OR OBAMA

Justin From TX   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Yeah this thing is over. Hillary is done. Too many people DISLIKE her, and the majority of voters will be ok when Obama wraps this up.

Oh and they will not count Florida and Michigan. I can't believe people actually think that it would count. Obama wasn't even on the ballot, and while plenty of people voted, ALOT of people did NOT vote because they knew it would not count.

She needs to step down and get behind Obama so we can take out McCain (which should be much easier).

j clark   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Well, she can always try and get the delegates of Michigan and Florida seated…you know, the ones she only won cause every other Democratic candidate respected the wishes of the party and didn't campaign there. But Hill doesn't care for the Democratic party at all. Her desire to see the superdelegates go against the will of the voters is proof enough of that.

Wes   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Since Senator Hillary Clinton brushed off Wisconsin and Hawaii, and headed into the big states, such as Ohio and Texas; doesn't it seem like she's in it for herself?

hillary 08:   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

John   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

Bills has insider info with the superdelegates and he knows the SD's will jump when Texas and Ohio are called either for Hillary or Obama

Brian from NYC   February 20th, 2008 8:16 pm ET

If Hillary can answer these three questions I would change my vote from Barack..

1) Why did she sign a pledge not to campaign in Mich. and Fla., then campaign in both states, and now wants the delegates? Isn't a President suppose to be about their word?

2) Where is your tax return and when will it be released? If there isn't anything "funny" on it I'd vote for her, but there's a reason she won't release it!

3) How does 1 and 1/2 terms in the Senate (she basically ran unopposed) equal 35 years?

Come on - Old School "35 Year" politics are over - let's go Barack.

Anonymous   February 20th, 2008 8:17 pm ET

I don't see why the campaign is asking for more money to compete. Can't they use the money they have in the futures market and make enough to pay for everything? Hillary did it so well before with the cattle, why can't she use her experience she talks so much about again?

Heather   February 20th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

Hey Sen. Clinton:

Remember when you decided that you would rather campaign elsewhere than for the Potomac primaries?

Maybe you lost those because you simply just didnt care about us over here; you decided it was better to campaign elsewhere than focus your energies here.

Maybe you'll finally start paying attention; but my money says it's too late for you.

Obama08   February 20th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

How can Hillary expect Michigan's delegates to be awarded to her, Yes she won the state but Obama was not on the ballot. How is that winning? If she wants to redu the state then let them both campagne there, and Obama will win their too.

I heard yesterday that Chelsey Clinton was a superdelagate is this true???

Thoughtful Democrat   February 20th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

GO HILLARY! THIS COUNTRY NEEDS YOU NOW!

Us4Obama   February 20th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

Acutally, what Bill did is "pre"-blame the voters of Texas just in case they loose. Most candidates say, "We need you to get out there and vote for us. Help us win this thing!"

What Bill did was say "If you don't deliver for her then I don't think she can. It's all on you." He has put all responsibility, everything on them. Any normal candidate would say, "well, I just didn't connect with the people, or campaign/advertise enough." Not the Clintons… it's all the voters fault. We had nothing to do with it.

The longer she stays in this the more selfish she and her political cronies get.

Donna   February 20th, 2008 8:25 pm ET

You know if Obama had lost the last 10 states and Hillary had won them, the Dem. party would be asking him to get out of the race so they could focus on Mcain, so how come no one is asking her to drop out???

Its obvious Obama is what Americans are looking. So why doesn't she graciously withdraw so the Dem. party can go forward?

Prof Michael Peterson   February 20th, 2008 8:27 pm ET

I usually take the time to perform research and analysis before I share most things publicly. I’m going to depart from that and take a moment to speak from emotion and in generalities. I’m old enough to remember how grown people expressed their feelings regarding JFK. I recall a feeling of “hope” that he inspired as he called for the involvement of American’s to move this country to the next level. I’m in my 51st year of life now and sense the same thing now that I sensed when I was a child. I’ve been voting since I was 18. I’ve been politically active off and on during my adult years. All too often I was choosing “the lesser of two evils”. I don’t have to do that this time. Hillary is OK! I supported McCain 8 years ago.

What we need now is to get that feeling back that we had before JFK’s untimely death. It is happening now, because words do matter! Barack Obama is supplying those words that we need to hear. Some of it is inspirational. Some of the words are about what we need to do. Some of the words explain what is broken in our political system. All of the words point to the possibility of a greater future than most of us can envision right now. If it’s all about supply and demand then Obama is finally supplying what American’s have been demanding from a political leader since JFK.

Jason   February 20th, 2008 8:28 pm ET

Don't count your blessings. If Hillary doesn't make it to the finale…the majority of her supporters are going Republican. So don't get too secure with yourself. Because, as you know the Republicans have been voting for Mr. Obama to get rid of Hillary. But, come the general elections…they're going back to their side which will make Obama wet his pants. When us Republicans attack, trust me we don't stop at nothing.

Ive been riding a bike for 35 years, yet there are those out there with natural talent that can ride circles around me after only a couple years of practice.
Just because one person has been doing something longer does not make them better. Natural abiltity is God given and I believe Obama is a God given leader.

As much as I respect Pres. Clinton, he needs to close his mouth and go home. He has been the one who has done the most to harm his wife's chances. Those of us in Ohio and Texas need to hear his wife's opinions on the issues; not his . He needs to come to the realization that his days in the main seat at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue are over.

Kath   February 20th, 2008 8:36 pm ET

Finally BC has understood that HC is not going to win the nomination. He would have rather not spoke bad things about Obama in SC which ultimately helped Borack win 10 in a row.
Later or sooner it was to happen…..Step down Hillaary!! that would be wise..
May be she can make the drop down announcement tomorrow during the debate.
Its over….save the democratic party and help Borack win in Nov.

Patricia   February 20th, 2008 8:36 pm ET

hmmmm. This has me concerned. Bill doesn't say anything that's not calculated. Didn't Ohio have some major voting issue a few years ago? I find his comments suspicious.

Jason   February 20th, 2008 8:37 pm ET

I think the candidate who wins the nomination and then wins the presidency is always the candidate who stays on their message and resists the temptation to pivot and attack and claw at the others.

Like Reagan said, "campaign in poetry, govern in prose". Obama is doing just that. Bill Clinton followed that in both of his wins, and Bush to a lesser degree. Americans like congeniality, warmth, a sense of humanity from their candidates.

Hillary just hasn't been able to shake the fact that she's now a comfortable Washington insider whereas 16 years ago, her and her husband were running the same campaign the Obamas are running now. It's kind of sad. I feel for her. Hillary, in the debates, has the best handle on all the issues, more than any other candidate on either side.

Some people say Bill's comments in South Carolina were perhaps a turning point, but I don't think so. If Hillary is the nominee and Bill comes out swinging like that against the Republicans, the Democrats will love him all over again. The turning point was Iowa, when Obama defied the polls and beat Hillary in a very white and conservative state.

Hillary got as many votes in Wisconcin last night as the entire Republican field yesterday, so it's not like people are voting for Obama to spite Hillary, they simply are swaying his way. I wish we didn't have to look at it like "what's wrong with her". Nothing is wrong with her, she would be 100 times better than Bush, but people just like Obama better.

Hope she bows out gracefully in a couple weeks if things don't go her way and that she gives one hell of a speech. Americans love congeniality, but they remember contrition very much too.

Young Liberal   February 20th, 2008 8:37 pm ET

Melissa, Tarpon Springs, Fl   February 20th, 2008 8:41 pm ET

I know many Republicans who will not vote for McCain because of his stand on the war. He will spend us into bankruptcy with the same old fearmongering that Bush/Cheney have used. The national debt has everything to do with the cost of the war even if Bush is incapable of admitting to it.

I was talking to a twenty year old in the gym today and she saids the reason, she is voting Obama is because he is cute. A twenty year old guy at work told me he was voting for Obama because he is youngest candidate. People I dont care who you vote but think before you do it. In 1959 a young man wanted change and hope in Cuba and everyone was excited and he retired yesterday after 5 decades later.

Clinton supporters are misguided sheep who believe in lies and propaganda.

TIme for a new America where bollocks like this won't ever be in play again.

Bartack Obama in 2008

bibihenna   February 20th, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Texas and Ohio the hope of USA

GO CLINTON

Monique FL   February 20th, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Enomisa- "God help us…" It's not like he's going to do any worse than George W!!! All do respect, Mrs. Clinton, needs to throw the towel in so we can focus on winning the Presidential Election. Wake up! Obama supporters are die hard! We're not voting for her. So if he (Obama)doesn't win, McCain will. We're NOT voting for HER! I refuse to re-elect the last three administrations- NO! And to all those Super delegates who think it's okay to ignor ethe votes of your district and vote what YOU want…you just wait! We're going to take note, you represent the voters not you!

Kevin   February 20th, 2008 8:43 pm ET

its going to be hard for obama to win the general election because all of the independents and republicans who voted for him in the primary(cause mccain already had the nomination)will vote for mccain in the general election. If it werent for them, hillary would have won75% of the primarys

bibihenna   February 20th, 2008 8:44 pm ET

Hillary superter will never vote for Obama Hussion nerver
CNN sham on you if you donot post my comment

Dave   February 20th, 2008 8:45 pm ET

Obama wins this democrat is voting for Mccain!! Obama is a great guy, but he stated that he is not for the Status Quo, and he try for a year to get the Kennedy endorsement and he has him campaingning for him. I do not think he is running from the politics of yesterday!

Victoria   February 20th, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Please please nominate Obama…that would be the best thing for the Republicans. And McCain may or may not be the Republican nomination.

Brian McKeown   February 20th, 2008 8:48 pm ET

I would be reluctant to call a plumber to fix a leak who has only one year's experience, let alone elect someone to the most importantant job in the world. Obama needs four or eight years experience as VP before he will be ready. Remember before our current dreadful excuse for a president, Bill and his missus, his chief advisor, gave us peace and prosperity. We were respected throughout the world, the ecomony was in great shape, they balanced the budget, there was money aplenty for social programs. So why are people reluctant to repeat those days? C'mon Ohio and Texas, don't make us the laughing stock of the world again, don't put another Jimmy Carter in the White House. Please give us the Clintons again.

Micahel Guinn, Ventura, CA   February 20th, 2008 8:48 pm ET

Texas will surprise many people. I think it will go OBAMA. If not, it will be so close that the delegate count will not help the Clinton camp.

NO MORE BILL IN THE WHITE HOUSE   February 20th, 2008 8:49 pm ET

It seems that the Clintons can not rewrite their rugged past. America is ready for a new change. I will vote for Obama. Hillary can not be the best on day one she can not get her campaign off the ground. Obama will be the best for American and the relationships for other countries.

patb   February 20th, 2008 8:49 pm ET

"you gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em" It's time to say goodnight, Hillary. Make a gracious exit and call for your superdelegates (do they get to wear capes?) to support Sen. Obama. Oh, and to the poster called enomisa, please dear, it might be time to up your meds. calm down.

bob from ct   February 20th, 2008 8:50 pm ET

This contest shows once again that a candidate can't win if the media gang up on you. What we got was essentially hours of free ads for Obama for the last several months. Surprised by the results.

The same thing was done to Gore in 2000. He nearly overcame that but lost 5-4.

It seems that when the Republicans have little chance of winning the folks on T.V. do their thing, even if they have to take one off the air if he goes so clearly over the top.

Sad, but get ready for another four years of the same thing. After that the court will be safely tucked away for the next 30 years.

Anna Mcdonald   February 20th, 2008 8:52 pm ET

I cannot believe all this
hatred against Hilary. Like it or not she is a brilliant lady. she would have made a fantastic president. Barack is like a preacher nothing else. He will never stand a chance against Mccain. We will loose in November. (yes we will)

Tarkus   February 20th, 2008 8:54 pm ET

The reality is that the Clintons know how to beat the Republicans. That's enough for me. Democrats have lost the last two elections. If you think Hillary is tough on Obama wait untill the Karl Rove crowd gets onto him. I'm afraid an Obama nomination will make three losses in a row. Hope I'm wrong but if al Qeada starts acting up in the fall, experience will count more then personality. Then there's the race card. Wish we were beyond that but I'm not so sure. Optimism is nice but reality wins elections

Bob London   February 20th, 2008 8:55 pm ET

Bill, if she looses go buy a big cigar.

Kathy   February 20th, 2008 8:55 pm ET

She must win Texas and Ohio to have a shot…If Obama is the nominee for the democratic party, I will be voting for McCain.

Derrick, Washington State   February 20th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

For once I have to say Bill is conceding reality. Wow, who would of thought he would admit to that?. My honest opinion is and has been the same. I think Hillary's campaign is in really serious trouble and her window of opportunity is closing faster than ever. If what Bill says is honestly what he thinks and for once he's being straight up with Voters….then its only logical that Hillary has to agree that she is facing all but certain defeat and a disappointing end to her Presidential hopes. Sorry Hillary, but being married to a former President and having the Clinton name does not qualify you for the highest office in the land. Oh, and those supposed 35 years of experience don't count either….sorry to burst your bubble. This Election has never been more clear than it is now. Its Advantage Obama, all the way. The American public has voiced its opposition to Hillary. Nobody wants another Clinton Presidency. This country wants real change and real leader who is ready to usher in that new generation for the future ahead. Barack Obama has that message, that vision, that charisma, and the trust of Voters nationwide. They all know Barack is the man for the job and they're ready to put him to work on making America great again and respected in the world. My support is definitely in Obama's favor.

Shannon, Charlottesville, Virginia   February 20th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

there goes bill again, addressing the electorate as though we all aren't intelligent voters — i've invested a lot of time comparing these candidates, and i believe obama is far more than a "sound bite" — we need an alternative to the bush/clinton dynasty.

Mart   February 20th, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Wisconsin exit polls yesterday revealed t hat 70% of Clinton supporters are happy with Obama and would vote for him. No worries there.
