(CNN) - Hillary Clinton said Friday she has had more conversations with John Edwards since their first post-race meeting two weeks ago, a sign the New York senator continues to heavily court the backing of her former rival.

Speaking on ABC's Good Morning America, Clinton touted her longtime friendship with Edwards and said she occasionally talks to him. Pressed if she had spoken with Edwards since meeting with him in person earlier this month, Clinton indicated she had, on more than one occasion.

"We have had conversations, yes," she said.

Edwards is one of a handful of high-profile Democrats whose endorsement could seriously impact the presidential race, but who has yet to back a candidate. Both Clinton and Obama have met with Edwards since the former North Carolina senator dropped his presidential bid several weeks ago, and both have highlighted portions of Edwards' own anti-poverty platform in their own stump speeches.

Obama's campaign manager David Plouffe has also made recent trips to North Carolina, and met with Edwards backers there.

Nice trick SB I've been trying to get my thoughts posted as well but they never do.

Well, well the cat's out of the bag on Billary's Universial Health care now since Obama cleared things up last night in the debate. People it's going to be mandotory, and if you don't buy it you will be fined for not having it and you still won't have any health care.

Leeza   February 22nd, 2008 3:26 pm ET

Is this why she kept mentioning him last night?
She is such a child.

SB   February 22nd, 2008 3:07 pm ET

I sure have been awaiting moderation for a while. I wonder why CNN?

February 22nd, 2008 11:45 am ET
Your comment is awaiting moderation.
I wonder if she asked him if she could use his words in her closing at the debate last night?

I must admit, I almost fell for this effort at warmth until I later learned that she was paraphrasing something that John Edwards said at the end of a prior debate.

Let's not have another New Hampshire moment, complete with the buyers remorse that came in the days to follow.

It's time for a new beginning. It's time for Barack Obama.

Kay   February 22nd, 2008 3:00 pm ET

If it takes this long for Edwards to make up his mind who to endorse it totally takes away from the value of the endorsement. Sounds like he is just stringing people along and enjoying himself. Doesn't matter to me, I've decided if Clinton doesn't get the nod I'm going with McCain.

I really had hopes that this year's campaign would be different – still down to choosing the lesser of the two evils. No change this year.

Kathy   February 22nd, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Obama has this tendancy in the debates to follow up on Hillary's questions with a rephrasing of Hillary's remarks, as though they are something new. Is that his attempt at being specific?

Cris S   February 22nd, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Hillary's the One!! Obama for Vice President!

EDWARDS DOES NOT MATTER......

Ava   February 22nd, 2008 2:38 pm ET

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!

Why doesn't any of her supporters acknowledge the Peter and Paul case? Or any of her shady deals and scandals ??????
And what about releasing her tax return, or her sealed files ??? Perhaps you all need a reality check. The Billarys are shady, and that my friends is a fact! I don't want the GOP to have to bring this up, the presidency will be handed to McCain. She needs to save herself what ever dignity she has.

Joseph   February 22nd, 2008 2:34 pm ET

Edwards will probably give Clinton his support....why? Simple politics, John Kerry, Edwards' running mate in 2004 had endorsed Obama over Clinton and Edwards. There is no way that Edwards is going to help Kerry and Obama after Kerry snubbed him. Tit for tat. Edwards will probably endorse Clinton soon.

Honestlady   February 22nd, 2008 2:24 pm ET

Hillary Clinton has Xeroxed her self yesterday. !!!!!! She didin't well at all. When you are waiting for her to give a punch, she is just crying.

This is the kind of politics we don't want in USA. Did she need to cry every time she is loosing?

CRY CRY BABY Hillary !!!!!

If the media has they're way, Obama will be the next democratic nominee. If they were any truth to what Dave SC is saying, you don't think CNN would be all over that story? We need a President who doesn't need 18 attempts to finally have a decent debate. We need Hillary.

Rhonda from Ohio   February 22nd, 2008 1:41 pm ET

I don't know why both Richardson and Edwards don't go ahead and endorse Hillary Clinton. She truly is the best candidate of choice to become the next American President. I think both Edwards or Richardson would be good choices for either VP or a cabinet position. Let's face it America. Smooth talkers do not get the job done.!

GO MRS CLINTON!!   February 22nd, 2008 1:39 pm ET

EDWARDS SHOULD ENDORSE CLINTON.. ITS THE BEST THING TO DO.. SHE SEEMS TO KNOW AND CARE MORE FOR THE MILITARY AND HER BELIEFS ON UNIONS.. ARE SO TOUCHING.. SHE HAS FULL SUPPORT FROM THE GAY COMMUNITY. SHE IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON MILITARY ISSUES.. UNLIKE BARAK SEEMS LOST WHEN ASKED QUESTIONS CONCERNING MILITARY OR GAY ISSUES..

VOTE HILLARY CLINTON 08///////////

There is a first female president out there, but she is not Hillary Rodham Clinton. The first female president cares about Americans first, not her own selfish, small-minded ambitions.

I've been a loyal Democrat all my life, but I never voted for Bill, and I will never vote for Hillary. And it's not because she is a woman, but because she is selfish.

Dave, SC   February 22nd, 2008 1:12 pm ET

I just finished reviewing some of the information about Peter Paul and his case against Hilary Clinton for campaign finance fraud. I must now agree with Senator Clinton that she IS the candidate most ready to work in the Whitehouse beginning on day one. She is truly an under-cutting, backstabbing, untruthful, two-faced, and crowd pleasing person; and presently, these are the main characteristics of the President of The United States of America, as defined by her husband the former President of the USA. Senator Clinton has proven that she is willing to do what ever it takes to get what she wants. There have been a considerable amount of people who support her in ALL her Endeavors to become the leader of this country. She has successfully duped them into thinking that she is something else. Her oppositions on both sides of the political highway have indicated and stated the many corrupt practices of the current and former leaders of our government. They have stated over and over their intended willingness to try to conduct our government’s business in less deviant manners. Base on the information that I have learned about Senator Clinton, they are ALL wrong. A successful leader has NO integrity, dignity, or decency. The President of The United States of America should be one who is only willing to look out for number one while spreading and little number two where ever he or she goes. So in this case Hilary R. Clinton IS the only candidate fully qualified to be the next President of The United States of America.

Jessica Price, California   February 22nd, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Go Hillary!. Yes, we will.

Brenda, NC   February 22nd, 2008 1:09 pm ET

The negative remarks and comments being spread throughout the news media about Senator Hillary Clinton are outrageous. Hillary Clinton is the best-qualified candidate and we need her as our next President. She knows what needs to be done and how to get it done. Hillary is intelligent, knowledgeable and a strong leader with a good heart. She is the right choice for hope, change, solutions, results and leadership. Give Senator Clinton a chance. Without a doubt, she has my support and my vote.

Virginia-California   February 22nd, 2008 1:09 pm ET

I'm so tired ot endorsements and the media guestimating...let the candidates stand for themselves and allow US THE VOTERS to decide. Mr. Edwards and Mr. Richardson are doing the wish step allow the voters to decide. As a voter I still didn't hear what accomplishments while in the senate these last 2-3 years Senator Obama has done...all that was mentioned was his past work not enough of a resume for me to hire him for the position of being President of our country....i HOPE that folks will see who REALLY has the experience for the position of becoming our next president.
Hillary Clinton in 2009.

hello   February 22nd, 2008 1:07 pm ET

In last nights debate Obama was agreeing to each and every answer of Hilary Clinton.
Can I ask where is the beef Mr Obama?

Carol Brownell in Colorado   February 22nd, 2008 1:07 pm ET

We have watched all of the Democrat debates and each time, in my view, Hillary shines! My husband is an independent and he and I have had some heated discussions about Hillary. After the debate last night, he turned to me and said, "Of all three candidates (which includes McCain), I think I like Hillary the best! Now don't tell me that Hillary didn't do well last night! It takes a mountain of convincing to influence my husband! Moreover, I as a registered Democrat I will be voting for McCain if Hillary does not get the nomination of the party. As an aside, Mary Matalin, I thank you for your comments about Hillary in a recent interview with Mr. Blitzer. Finally, finally, I heard comments that echoed mine!

Brent   February 22nd, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Honestly with all the economical problems, high Unemployment,Foreclosures at record high and growing & impaired perception that America has globally as a result of the Irag War , i am definately convinced the best move for America is to elect a New leader with little ties to Washington ,young , a new vision and new mind set .We are too War concious in this country and divisive .John Edwards & Richardson if they really loved America would have already endorced Obama for President like John & Ted did already. Edward & Richardson wnats to come on the band wagon later when it don't really matter because they really don't like Obama and they feel loyalty to the clinton's . A Real leader have great judgement and know how to make unpopular decisions when it really matters and the right thing fro the Country . Honestly Obama don't need Richardson & John Edwards we the people will speak finally .We want a Lifter of the people not a divider . I will now as a white mil vote for Obama . This is the first bold move i have done for years but the country needs us now not favors ..Character and Obama has the will power to harness this for America again to give u respect and stop these expensive Wars .

Obama/Edwards in 2008!

Kelly, New York   February 22nd, 2008 1:01 pm ET

If Edwards endorses anyone but Obama at this point, he'll look like a sellout and lose credibility with people who've come to respect him.

judy   February 22nd, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Hillary Clinton will stop at nothing to receive nomination. She'll push for Edwards endorsement, steal his personal, emotional speeches. Whatever it takes to win. It wouldn't surprise me if she has some trick to sway the people of Texas and Ohio. I wish I was comfortable with the Obama lead. But, with the Clintons anything is fair game in their political world. No is not an answer they take easily.

Rich in Seattle   February 22nd, 2008 12:57 pm ET

If Edwards ends up endorsing Hillary, then it will just show that being a VP is more important than his goals of helping people. So it comes down to his ambition or his ideals.

Because if he picks Hillary all I have to say is "Hillary? Really? Serious? Really? Uh...No, Really?"

Joe G   February 22nd, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Obama didn't plagiarize to be sure, but did any of you see the two speeches delivered by Patrick and Obama?

Yes Obama lovers – the words were the same but there's more to it. The cadence of language was identical. It was bizarre to say the least.

Obama's entire place on the national stage is based on style and oratory. It doesn't bother anyone that the man borrows both words and rhythmic patterns?

I've voted for Clinton twice, Gore and Kerry once, but will never vote for Barak Obama. It looks like McCain will get my vote.

David from California   February 22nd, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Edwards should back Hilary. When Hilary talks about health care and relates it to what Edwards said that “What if social security and medical was optional” where would we be now? Obama just doesn’t get it. Obama is an empty suit that speaks well. Now we find out that some of his speeches are not even his. What has Obama really accomplished? Don't be naive and be taken with a person that have great words but has no experience.
The republicans have already started ripping him for having no accomplishment and thinks he can run for president. That’s a big gamble for the Democratic Party. Don’t be Naïve. Please…

Justin   February 22nd, 2008 12:54 pm ET

I love the ageism of Clinton supporters. If Clinton is so wise, how is she getting her butt kicked with a former president, a tested war machine of establishment Democrats behind her. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Fred, Washington, dc   February 22nd, 2008 12:54 pm ET

Joelle is delusional, and obviously her fellow Wisconsins did not agree with her.

Obama has the judgement..........not to pay political hacks like Mark Penn millions of dollars to help add his excessiveness (in all respects) to further sink the clinton campaign ship.

Obama was seen as most electable in november in your state, Joelle, by a 67 – 33 margin.

It is time that Hillary concede defeat and end on the positive note of the ending of that previous debate that she obviously lifted from John Edwards ;) .

Chris Willowbrook, IL   February 22nd, 2008 12:53 pm ET

I'll point out again what Edwards said before New Hampshire, that he and Obama were the change candidates, and that Clinton was the establishment candidate and that when people talk about change the establishment comes out swinging. If he backs Clinton, he's lose all credibility and no one will trust his has a man for change.

i hope Edwards does endorse Hillary too. SHe's always been a fighter ever since she was a 1st lady. I want a fighter in the whitehouse not a eloquent speaker!

matt   February 22nd, 2008 12:48 pm ET

Its clear Edwards wants to back hillary, but hasnt done it because he wants a chance at vice presidency. THAT is the only reason why he wont back anyone until March 4th.. IF you believe differently .. your an idiot

At this point in the race it doesn't really matter who she talks to or who.

NICKY   February 22nd, 2008 12:46 pm ET

WOW!! Most IGNORANT PEOPLE are those who don't read and do not know much about facts of anything, THEY ARE FOLLOWERS NOT LEADERS. Its sad to know that AMERICANS don't even know their own FACTS OR HISTORY, DON'T BE A OBAMA FOLLOWER. BE A LEADER and do what is right for your COUNTRY. VOTE FOR THE BEST AND WHO CAN DO THE JOB NOT WHO GIVES GOOD SPEECHES. I am going to tell you the TRUTH IF OBAMA GET THE NOMINATION, YOU WILL HAVE MCCAIN IN THE WHITE HOUSE COME NOVEMBER. So good luck you all.

Hawkeye   February 22nd, 2008 11:47 am ET

John Edwards needs to confirm that Hillary is telling the truth. It is a desparate moment Ollie and we will say what we must to win the Nomination. Don't trust her now and won't trust her in the future.

One of Hillary's Supporters   February 22nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

VT DEM   February 22nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

Why is CNN not posting negative remarks about Obama? This is the kind of stuff that happens in China, so much for America's free speech. I guess you only get free speech when you back Obama.

S Williams   February 22nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

Illinois voter:

It's called deliberation, thinking before you speak, pondering the alternatives before making a rash statement or comment.

It comes in useful in preventing wars that maim and kill our soldiers.

You know those same soldiers that Hillary described in her closing statement. The statement she got all the credit for.

But while everyone fawns over Hillary's 'sensitive moment' describing soldiers with their faces burned and missing limbs, they conveniently forget it was her bad judgement that sent those soldiers over there to get maimed and burned in the first place!

One of Hillary's Supporters   February 22nd, 2008 11:43 am ET

Obama has gotten as far as he has so quickly because of his name endorsements and bias coverage by CNN. He did not get there on his own. Young voters are just that – "young" – and lots of them first time voters. They see the Kennedy name, and Oprah. They see the media endorsing Obama and putting down Hillary and Billl Clinton on a daily basis. I wonder where he would be in the race right now if he had to do it on his own like Hillary? She is doing "wonderful" under all the bashing she has been taking. She holds up well under pressure, a necessary element if one wants to be President.

If Hillary does not get the nomination I would say:

Let Obama prove himself from that point on without the help of his endorsments and the media. I don't believe that any voter has to back up the nominee if they feel that person is not the right person.

Its time to "change" that as well. He should not just get a free ride from the Hillary supporters.

Hillary supporters, if you do not want to vote for Obama if he gets the nominee – then just don't. You will know your options when the time comes as to what you would want to do.

HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT

timmy   February 22nd, 2008 11:42 am ET

If Edwards endorses Clinton now he would labeled a hypocrite. He spent most his campaign painting Clinton as a Washington insider, the status-quo candidate, the candidate who is least likely to bring change. For edwards to then turn around and endorse the very same candidate he criticized – he would be throwing everything he stands for to the side. Right now, its in his best interest to stay neutral.

jfs   February 22nd, 2008 11:41 am ET

Hillary supporters.........The Fat PERSON has sung. Hillary gave you a code in her final statement in last nights Debate. " She feels privilideged Having run against Sen. OBAMA, etc." Edward's endorsement IS NOT IMPORTANT. Please take the message and let her be a lady. You need to make Ohio and Texas as painless to her as possible. SHE CANNOT WIN EITHER BY 20 POINTS OR MORE...thats what she needs!! Lets end this and let her lose with the dignity that a GREAT LADY NEEDS. Let her lose big and end the pain. Vote for a democratic win in NOV. and not just your heart. Sorry you can vote for OBAMA now or later. Lets get this NUTTINESS behind us. Trust me, she will work just fine with President Obama. Her value to this country is not in the White House...it is in the SENATE. She and her experirnce will be the hallmark for the next eight years. Thanks to all you great Hillary people and to Hillary. The time has come to put this to rest and go after McCain

Les   February 22nd, 2008 11:41 am ET

I am guessing neither Edwards or Richardson are endorsing either candidate because they don't want to pick the wrong one and mess up there chances of being VP. I do have to say though and I know this may be insensitive but I can't help but think of her comment at the end of last night's debate as being a scripted, manipulative ploy to the voters. I think her initial answer was absolutely genuine, and funny, but her spiel about the VA hospital could have been a closing comment just the same. I think that is exactly what the Clinton campaign meant it as, her closing, last ditch effort to sway the vote. I give her a congrats in working it in, but I don't want a president that I have to question his/her actions all the time.

Mike in TX   February 22nd, 2008 11:40 am ET

Clinton / Edwards would be unstoppable.

Irishdem   February 22nd, 2008 11:40 am ET

Belittle John Edwards' impact on the race if you will, but his endoresment could either close the lid on Clinton's coffin if he goes for Obama, or give her the needed boost to fend off Obama's momentum...but only if he endorses before March 4th. After that, it'll be academic.

Nancy   February 22nd, 2008 11:39 am ET

Edwards won't endorese anyone till he know who wins. Most of his supporters are with other candidates by now anyway and what difference does it really matter there are only a couple more states left. If he was going to endorse anyone I feel he would have done so my now.

Annick, New York   February 22nd, 2008 11:39 am ET

Mr. Obama is a very smart, charimastic speaker but he needs another 8 years of learning, maturing, before he can be ready for the job of President of the United States.

RJ   February 22nd, 2008 11:39 am ET

An Obama/Edwards ticket ...Now that would work!!!
I beleive Hillary and Edwards would clash on too many issues down the road!

Cindy   February 22nd, 2008 11:39 am ET

Maybe Edwards is not endorsing.. same reason Al Gore isn't endorsing... can't bring themselves to say publicly... that they want to endorse Obama and not pal Clinton?

heh... I dunno what I'm talking about... who knows what's in these guys' heads...

Jenny, Rio Vista, CA   February 22nd, 2008 11:39 am ET

I was a financial supporter of Edwards and I think he should not endorse anyone right now. I think he was waiting to see if there was a clear leader after feb 5th so he could jump on that bandwagon... it didn't happen and now Obama has won 10 primaries / caucuses without him so his endorsement is no longer needed by Barack. I don't think he wants to endorse Billary before March 4th in case she loses. If she wins and he then endorses he will look like the loser he has turned out to be.

I am deeply disappointed in John Edwards. With all these meetings with advisors and meetings with the candidates, it is obvious he is trying to take care of numero uno. Yes John Edwards...it seems like it is very personal.

I saw the interview on GMA this morning and initially she wouldn't answer the question.

sacto joe   February 22nd, 2008 11:38 am ET

Edwards will wait. He is the presumptive VP for both, since he is a Southerner, albeit a liberal one, and the ticket's chances will improve with a Southern VP. If he bets now against Obama or Clinton, then he reduces his chances by 50% to be the President in eight years.

RAFAEL   February 22nd, 2008 11:36 am ET

By GEOFF EARLE Post Correspondent February 22, 2008 - AUSTIN, Texas – Hillary Rodham Clinton's free-spending campaign blew a whopping $95,000 at a low-end supermarket-deli chain last month in Iowa – a telling sign of why she can no longer cut the mustard financially against Barack Obama in critical states.
Clinton's latest campaign filings reveal how a sprawling, top-heavy campaign organization splurged on posh hotels and pricey consultants but still struggles to define its message against Obama, a charismatic opponent whom Clinton's camp now calls the front-runner.
The $95,000 charge came at the Hy-Vee store in West Des Moines, a grocery and deli chain that is a fixture in the state, on Jan. 1, just two days before Obama stunned Clinton by beating her in the Iowa caucuses.
The heavy spending helps explain why Clinton's camp ended the year $7.6 million in debt, not including her $5 million loan to her campaign.
The campaign team has plowed through $116 million so far.

ready on day 1 to bankrupt the country that is... LOL!

RSP   February 22nd, 2008 11:36 am ET

John Edwards is smart...he's waiting for the convention to side with either candidate. I think he wants to be VP, the nominee's running mate, and the contest is too close to call at this point for him to endorse either candidate.

A disenfranchised Obama supporter will just not vote in the November election, but a disenfranchised Hillary supporter will vote for John McCain. Howard Dean and the Democratic Party knows this, so as much as the Obama supporters would like Edwards to endorse him, he can't afford to.

It is Obama who is dividing the Democratic Party. For the good of the party, he should step aside.

SharonR   February 22nd, 2008 11:35 am ET

I know this won't get on but Iwon't vote for Obama because I don't care for his wife. I'd rather see Edwards orHillary

Corey, Maryland   February 22nd, 2008 11:35 am ET

I think James is right, both candidates are seeking Edwards' endorsement, and I think that he doesn't want to be the one that has to decide the race. He would be smart enough to know to let the people continue to decide. And most have decided Obama!!!

Obama Richardson 08!!!!!

California Voter   February 22nd, 2008 11:33 am ET

I would like to see a Clinton/Edwards ticket. However, this endorsement stuff has become meaningless, well actually it began as meaningless when Oprah endorsed Obama.

kd   February 22nd, 2008 11:31 am ET

Deep down, Edwards know that HIllary is the real choice. While Obama is impressive, it's superficial impressive. Once November comes, McCain will sail to victory. I hate to admit it, but the media lovefest will dissipate. And, Obama will lose it for the Democratic Partyy. I wish I did not believe it to be true, but we all know. Instead of Madam President it's President McCain

Lance Silvian   February 22nd, 2008 11:31 am ET

An endorsement from Senator Edwards for either candidate will carry more weight with me than an endorsement from that playboy, Sen. Ted Kennedy. He made his endorsement prematurely for his own personal agenda.

Mike, Land O Lakes, FL   February 22nd, 2008 11:31 am ET

Hopefully Edward will advise her to drop out and help unite the Dem party.

Aboomah 4 Obama   February 22nd, 2008 11:29 am ET

Just when I thought I finally saw and heard an ounce of humility and grace from Mrs. Clinton at the end of last night’s debate, it turns out her grace and humility were XEROXED from Edwards!

She almost made me tear up – NOT!

Clark Daugherty   February 22nd, 2008 11:29 am ET

Realistically, I think Edwards is holding on to his endorsement until the last moment to try to position himself for the VP slot on the ticket of whichever one is the nominee........

justin   February 22nd, 2008 11:29 am ET

john edwards has no backbone if he endorses hillary clinton. he will be seen as a sell-out who put political expediency before his own principles.

Marc   February 22nd, 2008 11:28 am ET

Joelle from Milwaukee, agreed. Obama needs to step aside and let a real leader get this nomination. He has served his purpose of rallying the youth vote to the polls, but he clearly is not ready to lead and make the tough decisions, much less have the skills, experience, and congressional standing to make "real change". I'd love to see Obama endorse Senator Clinton after the Texas and Ohio primaries. Also, it'd be terrific to hear another great keynote address at the convention.

Begging and crying is not acceptable behavior for a Commander-in-Chief.

Margi   February 22nd, 2008 11:27 am ET

Edwards endorsement doesn't matter much at this point – most of his people and his endorsements have already backed Obama.

kathleen, illinois   February 22nd, 2008 11:27 am ET

Hillary is best friends with Edwards. She talks to him quite
a lot. Sounds like grade school. Obama is not that immature
or desperate. Obama does not brag. Obama does not call
the SUPERDELAGETES TO BEG FOR VOTES. SOUNDS
LIKE HE BELIEVES IN HIMSELF.

Edwards is a very smart man and he has to know that America
cannot operate as it has in the past and that is exactly what
Hillary will do. When there has been no change and she has
had her chances, then can we believe she will change anything.

AMERICA THE WORLD NEEDS OBAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will H.   February 22nd, 2008 11:27 am ET

Edwards endorsement would mean nothing if he throws his support behind Clinton.

She is guilty of the very things he stood against (negative campaigning, taking PAC/lobbyist money, etc.) He would need to explain to the American people why he had the sudden change of heart on issues that he based his campaign on.

Mark   February 22nd, 2008 11:27 am ET

Let me tell you what scares Obama supporter. The tide can turn just as fast in Hillary's favor. How? The media can suddenly treat her more fairly and scrutinize Obama more. High profile people such as John Edwards could be courageous and say, "you know I am not going to get caught up in the hype/surge, I am going to endorse the person who I think is best suited now for the Country: Hillary Clinton". That is what scares Obama supporters. Just 1 week ago Hillary had a good lead in Texas and Ohio. Just think of what would happen if voters found their courage and stuck with their convictions. It would change things. It can change just that fast if voters hold their loyalty to Hillary and not get caught up in the wave.

Kenneth   February 22nd, 2008 11:26 am ET

You have to be kidding. Edwards is showing his real political colors. He's not backing either yet, because he is waiting to get on the boat with the person who definitely going to win the race. There isn’t anything more damaging to a political career than backing the loser. He knows the difference btwn them are not that great. The biggest difference is that Barack is actually likeable and actually sticks to his strong points and positivity vice wastes most of his time trying to break others down to make himself look better (take a hint Hillary) Unlike a super delegate, once he chooses he can't take it back. Anyone who objectively watched last nights debate can't really say she more prepared to lead this country that Obama. Just because she is older doesn't mean she is really more prepared. The same goes for McCain. Just because he was a prisoner of war doesn't mean he knows how to lead the military as Commander and Chief, so let's get a grip. It's about who has the most integrity, consistency and who is willing to listen to others when making decisions which sound like Obama vice making decisions in a bubble and sticking to them even when it is clear the decision is wrong which sounds like Hillary and McCain! Obama '08!

sam   February 22nd, 2008 11:26 am ET

i hope edwards realises that obama is all talk and nothing else!
this is not a oratorical contest – its a contest for the PRESIDENT of a Great Country – I hope the AMERICANS do NOT make the same mistake that they made four years ago.

Mike H.   February 22nd, 2008 11:26 am ET

I had a lot of respect for Edwards, but now it seems he's playing the field to see who will give him what he wants.

I mean come on; meetings with both Clinton and Obama? What has he been waiting for?

Does he want another VP slot? Attorney General?

You can hear it in both candidate's speeches, but especially Clinton, how they are sucking up to Edwards big time.

Tom Wittmann   February 22nd, 2008 11:26 am ET

After March 4, Edwards has nothing to offer but his advise to his
former 26 delegates, and it is doubtful how many of then will follow it

So what he is waiting for ?? Possibly he wanted to see if yesterday's debate leave open any possibility that Hillary can catch up with OBAMA
with his help. As all indicates that the response to this question is negative, he will endorse OBAMA o simply do nothing !

TOM

therealist   February 22nd, 2008 11:25 am ET

Twisting that little runts arm, I'm sure...

MD   February 22nd, 2008 11:25 am ET

It's TOO late Hillary. John Edwards cannot save you at this point as I think Obama doesn't need Edwards endorsments to win. All his unions have moved to Obama.....

Jesse   February 22nd, 2008 11:24 am ET

Hillary says she speaks with Edwards! Come back to me when she says he actually endorses her!

Neri   February 22nd, 2008 11:23 am ET

hillary has my vote!!!!!!!!!!!!
we need her to fix the mess that bush did!!!

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!1

SC in Rhode Island   February 22nd, 2008 11:23 am ET

Response to Illinois voter: So he is bashed if he gives great speaches about policy and change, and now your bashing him if he trys to give quick sound bits, like she always does, but sometimes thinks BEFORE he speaks....cant have it both ways!

Rhode Island is behind Obama

Charlotte   February 22nd, 2008 11:23 am ET

I hope Edwards endorses Hillary. We must win if we hope to win in November. It only took 18 times for Obama to finally not stutter and stammer. Can we afford 18 attemps to make an improvement? His positon on foriegn affairs hints at the need to eliminate the Sec. of State position. He is going to take care of meetings with heads of state on his own? This shows what a greenhorn he really is. We need someone who knows how to, as Larry the Cable Guy would say, GitRdone

Todd   February 22nd, 2008 11:21 am ET

Im a democrat and I am voting Republican because we can see that Obama has snowed half of America and will likely be the next nominee. How unfortunate!

VOTE MCCAIN if there is no other option.

pat vasquez   February 22nd, 2008 11:21 am ET

If Obma becomes President he should get Hillary as vice-president
and everybody would be happy

E. C., Houston, Texas   February 22nd, 2008 11:20 am ET

CNN TICKER is BIASED.

Roz   February 22nd, 2008 11:20 am ET

You have got to love an election year. Candidates can't even talk to a friend without being scrutinized by the media.

MD   February 22nd, 2008 11:20 am ET

A scandalous politician begging for the endorsement of a useless one. PATHETIC.

Dozirulf   February 22nd, 2008 11:19 am ET

She seemed very reluctant to say that she's talked to Edwards since she visited. I think she was lying.

Di   February 22nd, 2008 11:18 am ET

LOL Obama isn't going to be able to change anything. The only change that will happen is that someone else taking his seat in congress.

Media Balance   February 22nd, 2008 11:18 am ET

Fortunately, Edwards is already so rich that he probably can't be bought ! Errr... forgive me, that would be "Unfortunately" for you Hillary.

kamran ameri   February 22nd, 2008 11:17 am ET

Funny I hear the media say that Sen. Obama has the support of young educated voters. These educated voters need to understand affirmative action in the work force is over and the real world employers are looking for the best resume and experience not someone who is a good talker, unless your going to go into car sales.

voice of mine   February 22nd, 2008 11:16 am ET

Hillary and Obama are very close in what they say, only thing is that Hillary is out there for longer time =more wisdom, Obama still learns as he goes, we need someone who knows right now, the best would be for Hillary and Obama to be a team -together.
I liked Edwards a lot, I am sorry he withdrew....
and that he is waiting with endorsing -well, maybe he does not want to endorse anyone?

Andrew   February 22nd, 2008 11:13 am ET

I think he'd be technically more inclined to pick Hillary – simply because he's realisitc and wants the most capable person running the country. I strongly think he has some doubts about Obama – even though he may have some personal issues with Clinton. Overall he should endorse before March 4 or not at all.

I noticed he attacked Hillary during debates when she was the front runner in polls. But as soon as Obama started to come ahead Edwards shifted his focus on him. He was not impressed with Obama's anti-lobby answer to a question Edwards prepared for him – because he lied in the answer. Hard to say what he'll do.

Sarah   February 22nd, 2008 11:11 am ET

CLINTON ALL THE WAY! She needs donation in order to come back, lets all do this and then she will win, SHE TOTALLY DESERVES THIS! and like she said, it took one Clinton to clean up after one bush, i think its gonna take another!

Fact_check_2008   February 22nd, 2008 11:11 am ET

Clinton says she is going to tax heavily companies that ship jobs to overseas, but major big Indian IT firms have already contributed tons of money for her campaign. Is she telling this to gain votes?

Mike   February 22nd, 2008 11:10 am ET

Edwards should endorse Hillary, they have a same health care plan. Obama health care will creates a loop holes and unfairness. Looks who won the MA.

Mike   February 22nd, 2008 11:09 am ET

I believe CNN block people who want to talk about health care and pro Hillary. I try to post a message but it didn't show on the blogs.

zerville   February 22nd, 2008 11:08 am ET

That Hillary's final comment rings a bell...It seem stolen from Sen. Edward's closing comments of Dec 15th Presidential debate!!!!!!!!!
She's quite lucky to have gotten away with that and the fact that Obama is not running a smearing campaign style like her or the Republicans... It would have been in the news this morning..

xbarretx   February 22nd, 2008 11:08 am ET

no thanks Chris, Hilary will not do well as Pres. if Hilary is on the ticket, she will lose to McCain. that will split the democratic party and casue the independents to side with McCain as they were big on Obama and McCain.

Luka   February 22nd, 2008 11:06 am ET

Who cares who Edwards endorses? If he had mattered he would have received more votes and still be in the race himself.

Concerned   February 22nd, 2008 11:06 am ET

CNN, you will report anything...but my question is...why are you not reporting the issue with the Clintons and the lawsuit against them??? Why are you not trying to speak with the lobbyist that McCain is rumored to have done "favors" for??? Stop reporting tabloid news. Your organization is supposed to be a credible, international news source.

Claire, Austin, TX   February 22nd, 2008 11:06 am ET

Maybe he's peeved that she stole his closing statements?

txpoodoo   February 22nd, 2008 11:05 am ET

If Hillary wins the nomination, what will her arguement be agaisnt Mr. McCain? She can't use the experiance line....

We already see that Mrs. Clinton is having a hard time adjusting to Obama, and her main ammunition is experiance vs none. ( Not true, but that is what she is touting) She will totally have to revamp and put a new spin on her campaign. (Something she has proven she is not very good at)

Obama's message can easily transform into the general election, matter of fact, his message will be even have more bite against a Washington lifer such as McCain.

Just a thought

LENA   February 22nd, 2008 11:05 am ET

Joelle,
How does him dropping out make ANY sense? He's the frontrunner...

One of Hillary's Supporters   February 22nd, 2008 11:05 am ET

If Obama gets the nomination it does not mean Hillary supporters have to support him. It is our right to vote as we please. No one has to "rally" around the nominee if they do not want to. A Hillary write-in would be ideal for people who do not want to vote for McCain, but do not want to vote for Obama either.

Obama has not proven to me that he can function alone without the help of the media, unions, and name endorsements. He would have to show some real stuff in debates with John McCain (and with the media reporting fairly) before I would consider giving him my vote.

HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT

Peace   February 22nd, 2008 11:04 am ET

After watching the debate in Texas, for those who were looking who to CHOSE between the two candidates, Hillary is the one. And those who were looking for someone to ELECT, Obama is the one.

LENA   February 22nd, 2008 11:04 am ET

I think we should know about the fraud case that a California judge heard yesterday.

Anonymous   February 22nd, 2008 11:04 am ET

Senator Clinton has two emotional moments through this whole campaign. If she starts being too emotional all of a sudden, wouldn't it seem contrived? As one independent voter said on CNN that Senator Clinton seems so ambitious and desperate.

Tony   February 22nd, 2008 11:02 am ET

Edwards and Richardson should get on the bandwagon and endorse Obama or take the practical side and pick Hillary. Both are probably holding out until March to see who will be more likely to offer one of them the VP spot. Afterwards, their endorsement will not generate enogh voter clout for either candidate. Typical self serving politics.

norb   February 22nd, 2008 11:02 am ET

Yeah, John Edwards will be fine in his 28 thousand square foot house and his 32 million in the bank. He can keep getting those 400 dollar haircuts and do his photo ops at the lower 9th ward in Louisiana. He wimped out agains Dick Cheney in the last vice presidential debate. I wouldn't be surprised if he and Joe Lieberman (another looser) show up at John McCain's step rallies. Can you say ambulance?

Peter Kavanagh   February 22nd, 2008 11:02 am ET

She dropped his name to try to stop the slide . She say anything at this point .

The Titanic didn't make this much fuss when it went down .

Obama you are almost there . just keep your head up and stay above it .

gdouglas   February 22nd, 2008 11:02 am ET

If mr Edwards wants the best for amercia he will support Mrs Clinton. Americans have short memories if they cant remember how good the economy and everything else was under mr Bill Clinton. Of course no one ever accused amercian voters of being smart they want to vote in a way that will make everyone say Oh look how nice they are they will vote for a minority race to become President. Use yoru own brain for a moment and not be brainwashed by yopur biased media VOTE FOR THE BEST AND MOST CAPABLE PERSON AND THAT IS MRS CLINTON COME ON MR EDWARD ENDORSE MRS CLINTON NOW NOT AFTER MARCH 4

hooho   February 22nd, 2008 10:55 am ET

I agreee

Daphine   February 22nd, 2008 10:55 am ET

I still don't see Edwards supporting her if he dose and she gets the democrat nod can they together win in November?

cathie   February 22nd, 2008 10:51 am ET

I don't understand why "presedential hopefuls" need to get someone's endorsement. It seems as if they are saying, people do not have a mind of their own. I could care less who endorses whom. Do voters really care-they shouldn't.

Brian   February 22nd, 2008 10:49 am ET

Good luck with that, Hillary. I'm fully expecting your efforts to net the same as Chelsea's with the SuperDelegates!

Stacy Clarks, Texas   February 22nd, 2008 10:47 am ET

It is absolutely ridiculous that Edwards has not endorsed anyone yet. It is looking like an ego thing, and it has not room in the demcratic party. He was so vehemiently against Clinton during his campaign, so it should therefore not be a hard decision to endorse someone. This is ridiculous, Edwards please do what is good for the party and make this race easier by endorsing someone!

bryen   February 22nd, 2008 10:46 am ET

Edwards is in a rock and a hard place. To endorse with his conscience, he should endorse Clinton. However, the Obama followers do lash out at anyone who doesn't support Obama. It's gotten way too uncivil lately with supporters.

Braineel   February 22nd, 2008 10:46 am ET

I sincerely hope John Edwards will back Barack Obama while it can still make a difference.

Kat, Huntington, West Virginia   February 22nd, 2008 10:46 am ET

come on John step up and tell the world you are backing the right, most experienced person for this job...Hillary!! We need you and your wisdom.
Hillary 08

FloridaforHillary   February 22nd, 2008 10:46 am ET

I think Edwards is looking out for himself. He would be a great Vice President for Hillary .
They would make a great team.

Come on Edwards – endorse Hillary already.

aliou   February 22nd, 2008 10:45 am ET

When I discovered that Mrs. clinton Xeroxed her best part from 2 politicians without saying a word and taking all the credits for it, I shook my head and said to myself: I will never know which Clinton I am listening to: The Xerox or the genuine if there is a genuine copy of her.

Missouri Family   February 22nd, 2008 10:44 am ET

I supported John Edwards when he was in the race but when he dropped out we voted for Barack Obama in Missouri and we are very comfortable with that!

I would not in a lifetime vote for Hillary Clinton. Not in a primary, neither in a general election.

I would feel sold out if John Edwards would back Hillary Clinton ... it would feel as if he lost his soul and chose to side with the big and powerful in order to boost his career. Just look at Hillary Cliton's 527 group – each of these 'interested parties' gives $100,000 for a smear campaign against Barack Obama and a movement that is backed and financially supported by the average American.

I hope I was not mislead by John Edwards, I hope he actually stands for what he said. To side with the Clintons is political prostitution.

William B Lewis   February 22nd, 2008 10:44 am ET

Obama and Edwards would make a terrific ticket:

Obama's inspiration and anti-lobbyist and special interests strategy matches that of Edwards, and the pair could make some real progress.

If Edwards endorses Hillary, I will never believe a politician again. She has taken more PAC and lobbyist money for her campaign than any other candidate.

What are waiting for John??

Mark From Hollywood   February 22nd, 2008 10:43 am ET

As a former Edwards supporter, if he is snookered into endorsing Clinton I will never forgive him. Our party needs to move forward from the Clinton family. Obama '08

J. McCaskill, MS   February 22nd, 2008 10:43 am ET

I believe Edwards will support the better candidate, which is Hillary Clinton. She has proven that time and time again. She definnitely proved that last night.

Hillary '08'
McCain '08'

Jacqueline Ashe   February 22nd, 2008 10:42 am ET

Everyone seems to be "congratulating" Senator Clinton on her "heart felt" remark in regard to attending the opening of the Center for injured veterans. Many seem to be overlooking the fact that Senator Clinton placed her stamp of approval on the war, yet she will never admit to making a mistake backing the war in Iraq. Of course she is now penitent recognizing she gave President Bush approval to send our young men and young women into war, which has forever irreparably damaged so many lives.

Ruth Doescher   February 22nd, 2008 10:41 am ET

Regarding last night's debate, I couldn't believe how Campbell Brown let Obama rave on and on and cut off Sen. Clinton when she was about to make a point. I find CNN and the rest of the media to be very unfair to Sen. Clinton, with the exception of Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs.

Thomas For Hillary   February 22nd, 2008 10:41 am ET

Please John, go ahead and do what's best endorse Hillary. You two share very similar values. Endorse her this week.

Independent   February 22nd, 2008 10:38 am ET

Bad as I hate to say it !!!!!!!!......... Hillary probably knows more about health care than Obama. She put years into it when Bill was Pres........ And you must deal from strength when you go to "war", whether actual warfare( Iraq) or corporate warfare. .....Anyone that has ever worked for a large corp. knows that and the health care sector is MAMMOTH.......... She is dead on target here and knows where some of their weaknesses are, if any. On other issues..... meaby a dead heat !!!!! I can see Edwards more in tune with Hillary "issue wise" than Obama and both have that "trial lawyer" mentality.

Lloyd Hansen   February 22nd, 2008 10:37 am ET

Hillary is grasping at straws now. She is losing to a quasi-religious icon and needs every resource she can get to fight him but it's all in vain because liberalism finally has its saviour. The best hope we have of keeping his spend-happy policies out of the White House is to expose the cost and implications of his plans. If a clear picture of what he plans to do with taxpayer money doesn't scare away his fair-weather supporters then we deserve the economic and social destructions he will surely bring.

Kelley   February 22nd, 2008 10:37 am ET

I hope Edwards see how America is wanting change and how they are going Obama's way. I also hope he remembers his comments about Hillary

Randy - Denver   February 22nd, 2008 10:37 am ET

I bet she talks to other people also WHY IS THIS BEING REPORTED AS NEWS? Everyone knows both candidates are trying to get Mr. Edwards support so this is like saying "when it rained yesterday water fell". I wonder if she had gotten his permission to lift his line last night? I noticed she did not footnote it but then those rules only apply to her opponent I suppose.

Illinois voter   February 22nd, 2008 10:37 am ET

Obama is only good at prepared speeches. In debates, Hillary's responses tend to be quicker, more fluid, confident and detailed. Obama appears to search for his words more often. It is painful to listen to his responses at times.

Hillary or McCain in '08

James   February 22nd, 2008 10:36 am ET

I think that Edwards would be wise not to endorse anyone.

1) His endorsement is bound to offend someone, and he doesn't want to divide the party any more than it is.

2) Even if he does endorse Clinton, if her campaign is dying, he doesn't want to back a losing a horse or even go down with her ship. If he endorses Obama, it might be seen as a slap at the party Establishment to back Clinton and that had backed him in 2004.

Joelle, Milwaukee, WI   February 22nd, 2008 10:36 am ET

Obama needs to drop out of the Democratic race...

His presence in this race is both too divisive for the party and the nation. Sooner or later, this teenage, empty-talk, preacher and all the divisiveness that it creates is going to destroy the Democratic Party!

Mr. Edwards needs to make his move NOW and endorse our next President of the United States: HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON!

Chris   February 22nd, 2008 10:35 am ET

Clinton/Edwards... now that is what this country needs. Two real candidates, with real solutions!!!!

Hillary Clinton '08

Kadee   February 22nd, 2008 10:35 am ET

Who cares!!!!!! Edwards is a non-issue!!!!!

Al in Wpg   February 22nd, 2008 10:33 am ET

I'd be suprised if Edwards tied his boat to a sinking ship (Hillary). I guess if Hillary can't get his endorsement, she'll just alude to it.

LENA   February 22nd, 2008 10:33 am ET

...so this explains why she used his speech in her closing remarks?

Jonelle   February 22nd, 2008 10:32 am ET

Hillary is trying to do EVERYTHING she can to win this race. I think it's too little too late. Edwards needs to listen to the America people and go with the candidate that best suits our country.

Johnson   February 22nd, 2008 10:31 am ET

Maybe its a signal that Edwards might be sponsoring someone soon. I know that Hillary could definitely use the support. However, I think that it is in the best interest of Edwards to back Obama who agrees with most of Edwards core issues, policies, and the fact that he doesn't take PAC or Federal Lobbyist money. Its time to put this race to rest and start focusing on the opposition party.

Rosa   February 22nd, 2008 10:31 am ET

Don't endorse either one of these two candidates. Your campaign meant so much more than that. Let the best dweeb win – don't influence it. They didn't care when you were running John, so why give them the enjoyment of their short sighted reporting now. Amazing that the media isn't ignoring you now isn't it?

Tristain Flowers, TX   February 22nd, 2008 10:29 am ET

Why is the media hiding the recent lawsuit case of Peter Paul vs Clinton?

He is suing her for campaign finance corruption, and the media is not even covering it… Unbelievable, a potential federal crime by Clinton is being covered up..

Dennis   February 22nd, 2008 10:28 am ET

I'll bite: why hasn't Edwards or Richardson gone ahead and endorsed Obama or Clinton? Rhetorical question: what is it they are waiting for?

If these two don't make their endorsements before March 4, then I'm not certain it'll make any difference who the endorse.

Ron, TX   February 22nd, 2008 10:28 am ET

Did Edwards feed Hillary that last line of the debate on how America "is going to be fine"? Or did she just steal it?

If Hillary's one nasty bitter attack line is about "change you can xerox" (trademark infringement, by the way), she better make sure her single one touching moment isn't ripped off from someone else. What she said sure sounds familiar...

John Edwards Concession speech:
"Today, I am suspending my campaign for the Democratic nomination for the presidency. But I want to say this to everyone: with Elizabeth, with my family, with my friends, with all of you and all of your support, this son of a mill worker is going to be just fine. Our job now is to make certain that America will be fine." -John Edwards

December 13, 2007 Debate:
"What's not at stake are any of us. All of us are going to be just fine no matter what happens in this election. But what's at stake is whether America is going to be fine."- John Edwards

November 15, 2007 debate:
"You know, before I came over here tonight, I was thinking, we're going to have this debate; when we finish, all of you are going to be on television saying, oh, who scored points, who won the debate. All of us are going to be fine. The question is, will America be fine?"
-John Edwards

October 30, 2007 debate:
"As a matter of fact, it's not about any of us. The truth is, when this election is over, I'm going to be fine. Senator Clinton is going to be fine. Senator Obama's going to be fine. Will America be fine? "- John Edwards

Sunny   February 22nd, 2008 10:28 am ET

If mr. Edward do not endorse any of the two candidates before march 4, I think he should keep it to himself cos it won't be relevant to either of the candidates after march 4
