Wow, there are some angry people that should get their blood pressure checked on here! "Go to Hell McCain"?? I think he's been there and back, buddy! Somehow I don't think most of you could come anywhere close to enduring what he has. If he can overcome the pain he suffered and come out a good, positive, productive person, why can't the people that post on here have some semblance of civility living a mundane little life through a computer? Be nice, it's a lot better than harboring the mean-spirited thoughts most of you have in your hate-filled heads!

We need to share the sacrifice and have a draft, like in Vietnam- since McCain keeps up bringing up Vietnam! When other people's kids are involved, there will be a protest march on the mall to end this occupation and exploitation of our troops as civil war referees- like myself! Victory? Referees don't win or come out victorious. Mission Accomplished??
We ALL support the troops, but a draft will be the ultimate support. 140,000 troops and equipment can do only so many rotations and last so long.... I like the Straight Talk McCain, not the Bushie McCain. He sold out (war profiteering??)! Just a thought....Veterans have donated the MOST to the campaigns of Ron Paul and Barack Obama.....both support ending the war.

Brilliant ad! Someone should do an ad featuring ALL out wounded veterans of this ill-begotten war, that's what Bush's legacy is. Wounded soldiers and the ones that have died. Bush has blood on his hands.

We need to send a loud message to the Republicans, YOU MESSED UP! We are in debt, our young people are dying, we've had enough!

100 years/1000 years... Does it really matter? We've spent millions on this and these people will keep killing each other. As a Veteran I can say that us being there is not going to stop the 100s of years of hatred. They hate each other, they hate us...
The idiot who said "we will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory" if we pull out needs to wake up. The only reason "the surge" has "worked" was because we flooded the streets with troops; unless we plan to have 150,000 troops there permanently the minute we give them space they will start to kill our remaining troops and kill each other. I just returned and although it has gotten a bit better it's still is a bad situation, if we want a chance to even sort of fix the situation we'll probably need to stay 1000 years with the surge there.
McCain isn't going to clean the Bush mess just make it worse.

I endorse a sensible and just foreign policy that endorses human rights. A foreign policy that ignores oppression on civilians in the dark places of the world is none that I'm willing to settle for. John McCain is a wise man who's paid his dues far beyond every person has has posted to this- combined. Make no mistake about that. He understands, unlike most of us, what the enemy is capable of doing and what it's going to take to keep it under control. The current administration would be catching all the flack if there had been another 9/11 type of tragedy up to now. Yet, we don't discuss how much we appreciate current programs that help keep us safer as a result of the largest government reconstruction since the new deal. We can throw stones all day at candidates, but keep in mind you cannot sit down at the dinner table with the devil and expect to win. When the only goal of certain people is your death and destruction, you can NOT just sit back and act like it doesn't exist. In that regard, sensible foreign policy is one that helps the good people of the world overcome punk dictators and embrace freedom. God forbid we get another Jimmy Carter in office.

Somebody brought up a point about unsafe borders, loss of jobs, etc... well guess what... nobody said life was perfect and who wanted want the government to foot the bill for everything? It's not the Governments job to do ANYTHING for you or us. It's about the government providing safety so that human nature and freewill can take it from there. I owe you nothing, and you owe me nothing. We all owe each other the chance to be safe. I'll take it from there. And that's the kind of foreign policy I want.

Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security. - Ben Franklin.

The man knew what he was talking about. Over the last 5 years we have been barraged with messages of fear. It is as if Al Queda invented the concept of attacking the U.S. They are not the first. The War of 1812 saw our nation invaded by the British who actually burned down Washington, DC, then there was the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The point is that there were always be someone wishing us harm. Every nation has its enemies.

War is about two things - power and money - who has it and who doesn't. Period. We have financially drained our nation spending billions of dollars that could have been used to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, educate our children, etc. What better way of bring down a nation than to destroy it financially.

Look - I admit he said we could stay there for 100 years... but do you people ever look at the context? he said in a position like we have in South Korea or in Japan after WWII... in other words, a force that is maintained there in time of peace. He never said he wanted to keep fighting the war for 100 years... these people are taking a quote WAY out of context

One one candidate has ever spoken for me: JOHN EDWARDS.

Nice going, America. And thanks for all you did to promote the rush to the extreme thrill of an african-american vs. female for president, cnn and others.

The BEST candidate we could ever hope to have has been pushed out of this race.

Rose was not completely honest with her opinion. The military is a volunteer one and a deployable one. If you don't like it just do your time and get out and find another job. I hope the mission will be complete enough to bring the majority home in the near future. She is not a career soldier though.

And Obama is a whiney hiney..

McCain did indeed say he would stay in Iraq 100 years and even 1000 if need be. He was on the Larry King show when he said it. So, the allegation is true about the 1000 years comment.

Some of us sincerely hope that the people in Ohio and Texas will end the intense bickering and come to the rescue of the "soul" of the Dem party by ending this process on March 4. This means voting for Obama, knowing fully well that a vote for Hillary will simply given time for the Reps and Ralph to prepare for the Dems.

On anothre note. I think Hillary is really losing it and may need good psychiatric care when this process in over with ASAP! As a healthcare professional, I am deeply concerned about Hillary's mental status. Perhaps the major concern is how would she deal with the worse cases that are yet to come from the Republican machine?

How will Hillary handle Iran's caustic challenges that lie ahead?
How will Hillary handle the Russians?
How will Hillary handle the middle east gurus who have no regard for women?

Is this what American wants to deal with in the next 4 years?

How will Hillary handle the Russians?
How will Hillary handle the middle east gurus who have no regard for women?

Is this what American wants to deal with in the next 4 years?

If McCain gets nailed for the war, so will Hillary.

Hillary, like McCain, voted for the war in Iraq. Moreover, both of them are ready to attack Iran.

Conclusion: the Dems will lose this arguement, if Hillary is the nominee. I guess, with Ralph in the race, it would be like this:

Republicans + Ralp AGAINST Hillary. She better start crying now because when they are done with her, it will sound samll in comparison to what they did to Kerry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Under a dem, Rose's son will not be able to visit the new dictator of Iraq.

Change is not what the dems what for the world, only their self-centered constituents..

Dear Bill, Dear Hillary: We know that you like the White House, you are very fond of it. It is, after all, our national symbol of power. And everybody likes power. Hillary, it may bring you beautiful remembrances of State dinners, upbeat discussions about NAFTA (which you clearly supported at the time), cozy and distinguished guests. And the White House Christmas Tree. Bill, you, as a devoted husband, liked the Oval Office and you surely remember some interesting moments there – no need to mention them, everybody knows.. We understand your longing and nostalgias. If we had been there, for sure we would also like to be back. But don't you think it's really time to give up? Let, maybe, another tenant come in? I know the Bushes were there for 12 years, and that’s not fair. You were only 8 years there. Do you really need free lodging? You already had some in Arkansas and then in Washington. As a life-long democrat, can I kindly ask you to free the space for other newcomers, be it Barack (yes, I agree it's not a very fancy name, and he is only 50% white) or for John (yes, I agree, it's a very common name, he is old, a little bit disdabld, not really worth the White House)? Please, we need FRESH AIR. Sincerely yours. We, the common people of America, democrats and republicans - the ones who will never put a foot in the White House.

McCAIN IS A CHILD OF WAR.
HIS GRANDFATHER WAS,
HIS FATHER WAS,
HE IS,
HIS SONS ARE.

ALTHOUGH I RESPECT AND THANK THE McCAIN FAMILY FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY...

...I THINK BECAUSE OF HIS FAMILY'S EXPERIENCE HI THINKS THERE MUST BE WARS INSTEAD OF TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO AVOID WARS.

McCAIN, THANKS YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, BUT I DONT WANT YOU AS MY COMMANDER IN CHIEF, FOR THE THOUSANDS OF YOUNG SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN THAT WOULD LOSE THEIR LIVES BECAUSE OF YOU.

I LOVE this quote: "McCain never said the war will take 1000 years, he said 100 years."

A 100 year quagmire is so much preferable to a 1000 year quagmire.

John McCain is spearheading victory by voting for a war that never should have happened; spearheading victory by continuing down a path that cannot be answered militarily; spearheading victory while ignoring the central front to the war on terror and home of Osama bin Laden, is and remains to be in Afghanistan.

We can be in Iraq for 10 years, guess what... Al Queda will still plan attacks. They hate our freedom and our way of life, they despise our arrogance, they believe we are the cause of all the killings around the world, they feel we should not exist just as Iran feels Israel should not exist, so I say we get out of Iraq, concentrate of protecting our own boarders and keep an eye on Iran and the other slow thinking countries out there. Spend the money wasted in Iraq to educate our people and prepare for any other prespective enemy of our nation. Iraq will not come to our aide when needed nor will the other arab nations (example: oil prices should be lower since we are protecting them).

If only he would run as a independant now.....I wont vote for anyone like barack obama and i don't really want another clinton in the white house
but .....i will vote clinton over obama if no other choice is offered.

McCain actually said 100, 1000, or 10,000, whatever it takes. Odd that these people would single out the middle figure for criticism.

"We either pull out in year 100 and get universal health insurance, or hold out until the apocalypse in year 10,000, but we are NOT staying for 1000 years, then leaving! McCain '08 SUCKS!"

Do we want another Bush in the whitehouse, I don't think so. McCain, is a war monger just like Bush. What a terrible disservice this war has done to our country, and he wants to continue it for 100 years or more. He keeps talking al queda, but this war in Iraq, was never about al queda, it was about Bush and his pushing his agenda. OBAMA 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is not for the people, just for republicans and there greedy, deceiving ways.

Oh please. To turn our backs on Iraq now is to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Liberals know no shame, all they want to do is make sure George W. goes down in history as a terrible president. The funny thing is, the current congress is already going down in history as the worst congress ever.

I am really amazed at some of the people commenting in the Political Ticker.

Mohamed in VA has a one-line anti-Hillary post and there is absolutely nothing in the article about her.

What puzzles me about the story, is why they're putting the ad on now instead of waiting for the presidential campaign when he'll be running against someone who disagrees with him.

McCains 100 year war for what? Oil, to prove a point, to see the casualties go higher, to send billions and billions more to rebuild what this war has torn down and do nothing for the US, yeah sounds like a real fiscal conservative to me McCain.

Staying in Iraq only fuels the insurgency. The REAL war (read not for oil) is in Afghanistan which is where President Obama will put us to really make us safer. Also, the billions for Iraq are making us less secure at home as McCain et al. fail to address the healthcare, sub-prime mortgage, and economic crises here. Canada is a much better place to live these days.

I read this story with great interest because I am an American who has lived in Cairo, Egypt for 17 years with my husband who works with an American company here. For the Clintons to try and make a big deal out of Obama wearing that traditional attire is absurd. I too, like Obama, am a Christian. Just because he wore that as a good will gesture, doesn't make him anymore a Muslim than it would make me when I do the same out of respect for the many Muslim friends I have made while living here.

As a soldier currently stationed in Iraq and proudly serving my country for the second time in Iraq, I disagree 100% with what John McCain is saying. It is true that he is a patriotic man and has served our nation with great honor, but this time Mr. McCain is terribly mistaken. as afr as I cann tell much hasn't changed from when I was stationed here back in 2004. some of the same lawless neighborhoods that many of my buddies died in are still lawless. That the unfortunate part of this situation that Main Stream Media doesn't report to the American people, and the things that McCain and Bush don't want america to know. In my opinion we shoudl leave this country tomorrow and let them deal with their own problem.

Victory in Iraq and Afghanistan means an America for future generations. Those who are too blind to understand this clear and present danger to America will be the one's hollering " Why didn't the gov't protect us?" in 2-3 years when another 9/11 happens.

Yes we need Barak like we need more of these commercials. Perhaps votevets.org should spend their money on helping the poor and those without healthcare rather than hiding behind them.

Do people believe that the threat against never existed? Even though the intel was wrong, many agreed he was developing wmds. Why else would he block weapons inspectors? He even used wmds on his own people. We had no choice. If we leave now, al qaeda will rule Iraq. Do you want that? We should not leave until Iraq is stable. If we leave too soon, it will be a victory for terrorists to know that we are spineless. Clinton made us run from Africa when our blackhawk was shot down. Right after that, bin laden called the United States a paper tiger.

Everybody knows that John McCain was a P.O.W. in Vietnam and doesn't need some wussy new-age vets criticizing him. Hopefully, everybody can also see that Smearllary Clinton is behind this latest attack.

We're in this recession partly because of poor decisions & judgement.
