(CNN) - New Yorkers overwhelmingly like Mayor Michael Bloomberg, but most don't want him to run for president, according to a new poll.

According to the just released WNBC/Marist poll, 66 percent of New Yorkers say Bloomberg is doing either a good or excellent job running the city. But just as many say Bloomberg should not mount a White House bid - only 25 percent of New Yorkers would like to see him run for president.

Speak for yourself LeftNut (I can't help laughing when I see your name). I find it amazing how lefties like you rail against the so-called wealthy Republicans when your party is filled with rich white guys like Bloomberg, Kerry, Edwards, and the like. In any case, Bloomberg would get demolished in the presidential race, which I would love to see for myself!!

Mat   February 26th, 2008 9:45 pm ET

Mr. New-York Mayor we don't want confusions here. What is making you think of standing for presidency? You have got money and you better keep your money.

Raymond Ito   February 26th, 2008 9:23 pm ET

How would Bloomberg do in foreign policy – especially in the Middle East where having a jewish American president would more than ever set the world on fire?

He's a great mayor but president? NO.

Vig   February 26th, 2008 9:04 pm ET

Obma – the Affirmative Action candidate.

Donna   February 26th, 2008 8:52 pm ET

I like Bloomberg but not for President. Now VICE-PRESIDENT is not such a bad idea! Obama-Bloomberg...hmmmmm?

Ennis, LA   February 26th, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Now that we have Nader to hold their feet to the fire, Bloomberg

would be superfluous. GO RALPHIE !!!

His views are NOT "very close to Obama's". He is much more moderate.

TheLeftNut   February 26th, 2008 8:29 pm ET

Run! Run! The world loves you!

It is rather shameful to some people in USA just because they are afraid to have a respectable lady ,Hillary Clinton to be a President. I had expected something more from the "God fathers" of Democracy, in otherwords practice what you preach. You guys can learn from the mistakes of the French poeple who voted Nicolas Sarkozy to power instead of a brilliant lady. In the end Sarkozy uses his time to run after young ladies ,expensive holidays and all that he promised and said during the elections is forgotten. Guys wake up and try to be objective, about 80% of the blacks vote for Obama just because his black not because of the issues and the economy and painfully the whites have turned their back to Hillary just because , she is a woman and her husband was once a good president so even if she is the best among the rest some Americans simply won't vote for her and that is very silly ,your poor economy has a bearing to the rest of the World and the only person who can turn things around is Hon. Lady Clinton.

Bloomberg should run for Governor of NY

KMAN   February 26th, 2008 8:24 pm ET

Hey New York ... Mike Bloomberg may be someone you think highly of, but for the most part the rest of the country would simply yawn if he were to enter the race!

joe m.   February 26th, 2008 8:18 pm ET

americans seem to be so adverse to anything beyond the two party system. why should bloomberg not run if he feels he has something he has to say? the two party system has dominated this country's politics so much that few can even seem to entertain other contenders outside the democrats and republican parties. for a county that extolls the praises of diversity, we see so little of it in our politics. what an interesting contradiction.

Ryan   February 26th, 2008 8:00 pm ET

If Obama wins the nominee I hope he enters as well. I do not want to vote for Obama, and am looking for a substitute desperately. I hope Hillary pulls off well tonight in the MSNBC debate.

Chris   February 26th, 2008 7:55 pm ET

Really? Bloomberg for president? Delusional is the word that comes to mind.

Jr. Phlipp   February 26th, 2008 7:48 pm ET

Senator Clinton just hurt her bid for the white house. The way she flip flops on issues is very disturbing. Furthermore she keeps speaking on her experience and the experience that Senator Obama lacks. Maybe just maybe we need someone in the white house who isnt tainted with dirty politics

Guy   February 26th, 2008 7:47 pm ET

Obama/Bloomberg

john njau   February 26th, 2008 7:46 pm ET

I have been wondering why Obama is doing so well in the polls.could it be his charisma? his judgement. ? Well I have found the answear.

His background. The son of a kenyan immigrant from kenya and a white lady .His father left when he was two years. He has a an asian sister and a step father. With this, he seems to represent mojority of americans. This are the single mothers, black, whites ,asians and immigrants.I wish his stepfather was spanish. With all this in mind He has shown what can be achieved thru unity and hard work.

Truelly with his background He can invite the rest of the world.to peace and unity.

"Change and hope" America needs it and the rest of the world needs it.

To the young He is the dream of millions.humble background. no money.hard work.and an american dream.

Dan in MA   February 26th, 2008 7:43 pm ET

I agree w/ laura....Hillary is bold and beautiful and ready to lead our economy out of the ditch! She's inspired me this year! I feel like i can change the world, and she's given me no illusions about the hard work it's going to take!

I hope she squashes the nonsense thats' coming out of some Democrats this year.

Brenda   February 26th, 2008 7:42 pm ET

If Barack is the candidate, Bloomberg can win. He has my vote.

Bill Jay   February 26th, 2008 7:38 pm ET

Bloomberg for President.....................................cool dude.

Jamal   February 26th, 2008 7:23 pm ET

He should be Obama's Vice President. His views are very close to Obama's and those are two people I love.

Nell   February 26th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

You go,Mr.Mayor...only if Obama is the Democratic nominee. Thanks.

Brian   February 26th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

Obama v. McCain has no room for Bloomberg, though I definitely like the man at face value.

eyeingtenure   February 26th, 2008 7:15 pm ET

In that case, I agree with most New Yorkers.

Bob Bologna   February 26th, 2008 7:14 pm ET

Please Mike PLEASE run for PRESIDENT! I live in NY state and I think he would be a much better president than any of the other candidates, except Mike Huckabee!
Hillary only came to NY to use us as a stepping stone to run for president. Well that isn't working for her.
Michael Bloomberg would be an excellent presidential candidate not to mention we need more options this year for the next president and a 3rd party would be nice too!

laura   February 26th, 2008 7:13 pm ET

If Hillary does not win the primary, then Bloomberg should run. He would be the only one to vote for. Hillary and Bloomberg are the only two who could turn this economy around and change America for the better.
