Sens. Obama and Clinton greet the audience before last weeks CNN debate.

(CNN) – Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are in a tight race in Texas, according to a “poll of polls” calculated by CNN on Thursday.

An average of three polls of likely Democratic voters has Sen. Barack Obama at 48 percent and Sen. Hillary Clinton at 45 percent. Seven percent were unsure.

The average also shows Sen. John McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee, holding a nearly 20-point lead over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee among likely Republican primary voters. McCain has 53 percent to Huckabee's 34 percent, and Texas Rep. Ron Paul has 9 percent. Four percent were unsure.

Texas voters will be joined by those in Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island when they head to the polls on March 4. With Obama surging into the lead on 11 straight wins since Super Tuesday, Clinton's supporters admit that she must do well in Texas and Ohio if she is continue to battle for the nomination.

CNN's Texas poll of polls results were calculated using three surveys: a Belo/Public Strategies poll conducted February 24-25, an American Research Group poll conducted February 23-24, and a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll conducted February 22-24.

Earlier, an American Research Group poll of likely Democratic voters on February 13-14 showed Obama ahead, 48-42, with 10 percent undecided. A CNN poll taken between February 14-17 showed Clinton ahead, 50-48.

  2. Mad in Texas

People of TEXAS, OHIO, RHODE ISLAND, VERMONT, we need to get off the fence and stop this ignorant nonsense. OBAMA is a fool. Take it from someone who spent 28 years in the Army infantry. The Nam, Desert Storm Veteran. I have a Son who is a Infantry Battalion Commander in Iraq today on his third tour. He and his men are not complaining. There are Al Quida there. And have been in Iran and Iraq all along. They are most all over the country now because of our neglect to go after them after 911. Do not be fooled by a glib talking man who along with his wife are racist. Have you ever looked closely at his news pictures when he is looking at white people's backs. It is pure hatred coming out. Don't fall into a slumber like we did in World War II. World War III is upon us and we need to be prepared. We do need bases in Iraq and we need plenty of troops there. If you want another 911 then vote for this man who knows nothing about running this country. Then pray for your wiv es and children. VOTE HILLARY or McCain if you have to, but keep this man out of the White House.

  3. Arizona Latinos For Hillary!

Hillary Clinton IS the Real Solution. I've met both her and Bill, she is smart, friendly, genuinely caring and personable. When she says she is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and work for the people, she means it. She is driven by America and has a true love for this country and the shape it is in now. People ask what she has done. One of the things she focused on in the 1990's was The Family Act, and without her driving force behind the Family Act, I would now be out of a job. Because Hillary Clinton cares, millions are still working and more will go to work when she takes office. Obama is just another Jimmy Carter in the making. I hope Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Pennsylvania will give Hillary Clinton a chance. Arizona did!

I look forward to Obama running against McCain, and winning the office of president. Hilary is smart, but her plans were drawn up for New York, not the U.S. How can she have a plan or program for all of our problems – and who did them. When would she have time. And, everything doesn't fall into a plan – you have to be able to think on your feet. I don't want a president who is always barking – every time I hear her I want to turn the station.

    TO OBAMA SUPPORTERS

MAKE SURE YOU BRING AT LEAST 3 FRIENDS TO THIS MOVEMENT, CONVINCE A SIBLING, A PARENT, GRAND PARENT, COUSINS OR A FRIEND
I WON'T TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE I HAVE BROUGHT TO THIS MOVEMENT OF CHANGE AND I INTEND TO BRING TWICE OR EVEN MORE THAN I HAVE DONE.

DO NOT JUST LOOK AT GOOD POLICIES BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE ARE LYING AROUND, THEY'LL TELL YOU ANYTHHING TO GET YOUR VOTE AND ONCE THEY ARE IN POWER THEY LOSE THEIR MEMORY.

VOTE FOR SOMEONE THAT HAS CARED FOR PEOPLE, VOTE FOR SOMEONE THAT WILL OWE YOU, NOT THE LOBBYISTS IN WASHINGTON. SOMETIMES POLITICIANS TAKE THE PEOPLE AS DUMMIES THEY USE PEOLE TO GET IN POWER IN ORDER TO SERVE THE ELITE. WE NEED A GOVERNMENT THAT CARES FOR US NOT FOR OUR VOTES A GOVERNMENT WHO'LL DO EVERYTHING THEY 'RE SAYING THEY WILL DO.

WE NEED A PRESIDENT THAT HAVE RESPECT FOR OUR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY THEIR LIVES, A PRESIDENT WHO WILL NOT GIVE HIS OR HER VOTE TO AUTHORIZE UNJUST WARS WHERE THEIR CHILDREN ARE STAYING HOME, ENJOYING PARTIES AND OTHER THINGS AS OURS ARE GIVING AWAY THEIR LIVES. PEOPLE PLEASE WAKE UP TELL ME WHICH ONE OF THESE CANDIDATES OR LAST PRESIDENTS BUT MCCAIN THAT HAS HAD A CHILD AT THE COMBAT FIELD...............THEY CARE FOR THEIR CHILDREN BUT NOT FOR YOURS.......EXPERIENCE??????? IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR EXPERIENCE IT WILL GET YOU TO A POINT YOU'LL BE CRYING ALL OF YOUR TEARS. YOU DO NOT NEED JUST EXPERIENCE

Hillary supporters need to take off their blinders and realize that half the country hates her. That is not the type of figure we need as a president.

Goodbye Clintons!! You dragged the party so far to the right that you (i) enacted NAFTA; (ii) killed any chance of health care reform in the 90's (and now you want another bite!!!); (iii) signed Welfare Reform (with the broken promise to "fix it: later and (iv) bill, hillary and the rest of the party allowed W to march into war. Triangulation did not serve the party or the people of this country well, and now Hillary's attacks (the farrakhan crap, the picture of the African garb that was first admittedly sent by the campaing then denied, the total disdain for large swaths of this country that handed Obama 11 victories in a row, the cynical pledge to undermine the people's voices by seating delegates in states where you pledged not to run and not to count, and the feeble hope that the the corporate insiders will hand you the nomination). You have kicked around this country long enough, we are a democracy, not an oligarchy, don;'t let the door hit you on the way out . . .

Obama is the punch no one seen coming. McCain need to have a good record in the ring. Because Obama has a good jab and a deadly upper cut. Honestly, Hillary knows for a fact. She still feel the effects. So McCain put up your dukes or get knocked out.

lets remember one thing folks hiliary doesnt have to just win in ohio, and tx but she has to win by a large margin and i dont see that happening (maybe in ohio) the dems are not like the repub meaning winner takes all the delegates so even if she wins obama will still get enough or maybe even more delegates thus winning even if he looses tx and ohio. the obama movement is tooo strong the country is ready for change and he is the man for the job !! hiliary cant bring independents, republicans to the polls to vote dem in nov but he has already proven he can and will. for the past 24 yrs their has been a bush or a clinton in office enough is enough after march 4th what are hiliary supporters going to say then its ok hiliary pull a huckabee and we will end up with mccain in the white house and i will be deployed to iraq again THANKS WANT TO JOIN ME WHEN I GET ON THE PLANE ... I DIDNT THINK SO

Who can trust Hillary who will say everything to get a vote.

Every single day she makes all kinds of eronious promises and expect people to be gullible to swallow her crap. Hillary needs to understand the voters, well except for the Latinos, are not as gullible as she thinks.

Get real Hillary, you cannot in a million years deliver on your stupid promises.
