Clinton raised $36 million in February.
Clinton raised $36 million in February.

(CNN) - Hillary Clinton raised $35 million in February, more than double what the New York senator raised the month before, her campaign announced Thursday.

Barack Obama spokesman Bill Burton meanwhile indicated Obama's total for the same period will be considerably higher than that, the AP reported.

In January, Clinton raised nearly $14 million, compared to Obama's $36 million. Earlier this month, the New York senator revealed she loaned her campaign $5 million in an effort to stay competitive with Obama heading into the February 5 round of primaries.

Hillary, this country needs your help! Don't give up on us, even when the press and Chris Dodds counts you out We are voting for you.

sairefgm   February 28th, 2008 7:52 pm ET

hILLARY AND HER CAMPAIGN ARE LYING.

Pia   February 28th, 2008 4:38 pm ET

A bit too late, don't ya think?
The question is, did the camp really raise that amount?
So many lies.... so little time.

BrooklynZoo   February 28th, 2008 4:37 pm ET

That is an impressive amount, wow.

Can't wait to see how much Obama has raised – I've given twice to his campaign in small amounts this month.

Let's wrap this up on Tuesday, yes we can!

Gavin   February 28th, 2008 4:36 pm ET

GO SENATOR HILLARY RODHAM CLINTON !!!

BIG BUCKS – TO REACH AS MANY PEOPLE AS WE CAN – TO GIVE THEM THE REAL SCOOP AND NOT LET THE media brainwash them...

MY FAMILY HAPPILY CONTRIBUTED to our former First Lady and future first Woman President...

I'm proud of Clinton and proud of America !

Brian   February 28th, 2008 4:35 pm ET

Fat lot of good it's going to do her when she's sitting at home on her sofa after Mar. 4 watching the race between Obama and McCain.

Ron   February 28th, 2008 4:35 pm ET

Not a surprise. The largest reason Hillary is in trouble is a POORLY PLANNED campaign. She also has made a few DUM errors that makes her appear as if she is looking for sympathy, which is not very Presidental. I believe it is too late for her to turn it around.

carol   February 28th, 2008 4:33 pm ET

so what. She still ain't gonna win. She is just a scandalous person. She acts like she cares. The only thing I hear from her is I did this, I did that, I was this. It appears that she feels that she is owed the nomination.

AJ   February 28th, 2008 4:31 pm ET

I think Bill Burton needs to come up with a figure instead of just shooting off his mouth. And if Obama keeps raising all this money, I'd like to see his fundraising investigated. He's as crooked as they come and you know most of the money is coming from places it shouldnt. If Obama gets the nomination I will take great pleasure in voting for McCain. I have never voted for a republican in my life but Obama is a national disaster waiting to happen. I urge Clinton supports to do the same. If not Hilary then McCain '08!!

Texas for Hillary   February 28th, 2008 4:31 pm ET

Awesome! We love you Hillary and WE NEED YOU!!!

CLINTON FOR PRESIDENT   February 28th, 2008 4:30 pm ET

You're welcome Hillary!

More to come!!!

Way to go Girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jessica   February 28th, 2008 4:30 pm ET

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!

THE OBAMA PEOPLE THOUGHT WAS DONE – THINK AGAIN!

GO HILLARY!!!!
GO HILLARY!!!

Leslie Somerville, Seattle, Washington   February 28th, 2008 4:28 pm ET

And you are worth every penny of it Hillary (Madame President)
I will be sending another $100.00 on Monday when I get paid. Best investment in my life (and the lives of all Americans!!)

Johnson Mugenyi   February 28th, 2008 4:28 pm ET

At last her compaign is trying to come out of a recession.

I still think if her compaign would experience such financial trials, then she should not be entrusted with the bigger US economy but it should be given to the Senator whose compaign has been soaring financially.

Hillary is suposedly ready to lead on day one yet her compaign suffered such financial set backs!

Go Obama

therealist   February 28th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

I wonder how much, at what interest rate, this multi-millionaire loaned herself this month??

Danielle   February 28th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

Go Hillary!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't anyone count her out yet, she's the comeback queen! :)

logical   February 28th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

Go Hillary!! You can do it. We are all behind you and support you 100%. You are the best candidate and a smart choice for President. Thank you for going on.

TYSPOCK , COLUMBIA, MD   February 28th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

Go Hillary ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Those of us who appreciates experience and stand by those who have stood by us – are pulling for you. We have seen so many times how many in this country love to build up an "AMERICAN IODOL" even before they really know them, only to tear them down later after they get to know them, it a backward approach but we see over and over again. If you do not believe me, ask Britney Spears and Michael Jackson.

K"Hussein"J, Dallas, TX   February 28th, 2008 4:26 pm ET

I hope Sen. Clinton and her staff realizes that in addition to experience and knowledge which is needed in "managing" a campaign, they will also need a candidate with character and integrity in order to be successful. I suggest they put a lot more hard work into both areas.

OBAMA, 2008!

Rick   February 28th, 2008 4:25 pm ET

She should just consider it her retirement package and slip quietly into the sunset never to be heard from again.......

Ravi   February 28th, 2008 4:21 pm ET

As her campaign would come to an end by March 1st week, she could use this money to pay back all the vendors and, of course, her own loan.

Deidre   February 28th, 2008 4:21 pm ET

I just went and made a donation to Barack, rumors on his site are that his February figure is close to $60 million!

Viktoriya   February 28th, 2008 4:20 pm ET

Hillary raised 2.2 millions in 48 hours on –line. These are donation from simple people who believes that she is the best candidate for the job. People donate $5, $10, $50.
There is no reason for her to “drop out”. She has strong support from people who don’t switch.
Hillary, you have our votes!!!

Carrie PA   February 28th, 2008 4:17 pm ET

Minus 5 million! Now, Hillary release your tax forms and records. What are you hiding?

Jack   February 28th, 2008 4:16 pm ET

Democrats are raking in the loot.

Whoever the Democratic nominee is, he or she better not agree to public financing, despite Republicans who scream and shout and try to pressure the Democratic nominee into it.

Why would Clinton or Obama need public financing?

The only person who needs to finance a presidential campaign with tax payers' money is the person who can't raise any money: John McCain.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Tim, MN   February 28th, 2008 4:15 pm ET

Congrats Sen. Clinton!!! I now have confident in you now than ever!

Brad Dalgleish   February 28th, 2008 4:13 pm ET

Good job, it's about time. I'm surprised with all of her connections more money isn't flowing in.

When will her campaign start switching tactics is the question....!

Perrell, Lincolnton, NC   February 28th, 2008 4:11 pm ET

How accurate are these numbers, and how much of this money is coming from big time lobbyist and does this include her 5 million that she loaned herself?

Paul   February 28th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

These are wonderful news Hillary

People are understanding now, that we need to stick together to make it happen.
You are the best candidate that we have and we will continue to support you with our prayers, morally and financially,

May God bless you and the rest of America

La victoria es tuya el 4 de Marzo
Victory will be yours on march 4

Hillary , President of the United States of America
Hillary, Presidente de los Estados Unidos de America

akaDoug   February 28th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

That's great news when the Democrats can raise over $80 million ($35m for Hillary, a rumored $50-55m for Obama) in a month! McCain will have trouble getting $80 million in a quarter!

Fabian Blache III, Baton Rouge, LA   February 28th, 2008 4:09 pm ET

Perhaps she can now pay herself back before she starts raking in interest income on the $5 million loan?

Texasboo   February 28th, 2008 4:08 pm ET

Good, now she can pay back all her vendors she stiffed in other states as well as get a return on her $5million loan. Hmm.

I do believe that OBama raised at least $50 million for this month and reached over 1 million mark. GOBAMA!! Plus Obama still has labor groups supporting him like SEIU, et. all.

MARCH 4th for OBAMA.

Nick R   February 28th, 2008 4:08 pm ET

Too bad they aren't that quick releasing her personal income statements!

Sharon   February 28th, 2008 4:08 pm ET

That is a very impressive amount. It is easy to raise money when you're winning, but being able to raise so much when you're suffering losses and the media is writing you off and asking you to step out of the race is amazing.

I think both Senator Obama and Senator Clinton have some very loyal and committed supporters, and they both deserve respect.

Moygirl   February 28th, 2008 4:07 pm ET

I actually dont think its the American publics right to want to see her federal tax return just because she loaned her campaign $5 million.
We all know they have their own personal money, why cant she loan herself money?
I think its just intrusive....

CClaudia   February 28th, 2008 4:06 pm ET

You go girl!!!

think   February 28th, 2008 4:06 pm ET

great job team!!!!!!!

Midge from Ohio   February 28th, 2008 4:03 pm ET

I am sorry I don't have any money to give, but Hillary has my vote!

Stacy Clarks, Texas   February 28th, 2008 4:02 pm ET

Good job to hillary clinton, it is nice to see ehr supporters backing her, instead of just talking negatively about Obama

On the other hand....GO OBAMA!!! I AM SURE YOU HAVE RAISED TWICE THAT AMOUNT!!!!!!!!!

stop the hate, obama 08!!!

James Smith   February 28th, 2008 4:01 pm ET

Sweet! I'm proud to say I'm one of those donors.

Clinton '08!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jack   February 28th, 2008 4:00 pm ET

Money wasted, unless Clinton wants to donate that to the democratic party or Obama himself.

hooho   February 28th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

Great!, I am one of them. I am very confident that millions of people is doing that when I donated my money.

Thank God!!!

Darth Vadik, CA   February 28th, 2008 3:59 pm ET

Good for her, she can use it for her next senate campaign.

Nuke   February 28th, 2008 3:58 pm ET

You go Girl.

I will be donating more this week and will ask all my friends all over the USA to do the same.

God bless you.

John, Euless, TX   February 28th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

Congratulations Hillary!!!!

We are working hard for you here in Texas. The citizens of this great state will come through for you as more and more people realize that we have too much at stake to elect an experiment candidate over an experienced candidate like you.

Hillary 2008!!!!!!!

HOW DO WE KNOW YOU DIDNT JUST "LOAN SOME OF YOUR MONEY TO THE CAMPAIGN" WHERE ARE YOUR TAX RETNS??? WHERE ARE THE PAPERS FRM THE WHITE HOUSE???? TO MANY THINGS JUST DO NOT ADD UP

joli   February 28th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

She raises 36 million Obama will raise over 80million and they both can buy Krispy cremes and hate flyers for all their adoring fans....and spread love all over the country...

Vote for John Sidney McCain...

Ted in Chicago   February 28th, 2008 3:56 pm ET

And the race continues – tracking polls through today – out Sat? could be interesting

matt   February 28th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

In the last five minutes I have seen 2 mistakes on the website. One is on the Hillary raising money story. It states she raised $35mil in the story, then the photo says $36 mil. The other is on the past (R) wins in the state of texas. I don't remember Reagan winning the Texas vote in 1988???

Manuel TX   February 28th, 2008 3:55 pm ET

I was part of that effort, and I'm ready to send more as needed.

Miss Cleo   February 28th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

I'm sure Obama raised double that.

An Agnostic Democrat   February 28th, 2008 3:54 pm ET

carrie   February 28th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

yeah right.all raised from lobbyists.i think hillary should take her philandering husband to an old folks home in arkansas.oh they shouldnt forget to take mcain for company.we need obama.

Bob   February 28th, 2008 3:48 pm ET

We're going on her word with this one, something I'd strongly advise we not do, given her past history of partial disclosure and outright lying.

Concerned Voter   February 28th, 2008 3:47 pm ET

Gives an indication that she has a lot of support out there for her. She is not out yet. I hope the DNC takes this into consideration in choosing a nominee. It weould be shame if they lost the folks that gave to the opposing party.

LadyLeo   February 28th, 2008 3:46 pm ET

Does that include the 5 million she donated?

Puddytat   February 28th, 2008 3:45 pm ET

Bad way to spend money, really. For all of them. Obama, Clinton, Mccain, please donate all these money to New Orleans.

R.M.   February 28th, 2008 3:43 pm ET

Who in their right mind are contributing to this fledging campaign? Are they the Clinton chronies? I guess....

mjc   February 28th, 2008 3:43 pm ET

cmon hillary, you can do it!!

NoWorry   February 28th, 2008 3:42 pm ET

Very good. Go Hillary. Hillary will surely win TX, Oh, and PA, and then will win the general election, and will be the first woman president in America, which is wonderful. I am very proud of it though I am a man.

Other countries like Canada, British, Germany, turkey, Pakistan, chile, Philippians can have a woman leader, why not our America? It is not fair.

corey   February 28th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

What becomes of that 35 million after Tuesday?

John Smith   February 28th, 2008 3:41 pm ET

I too will vote for McCain if Obama gets the nomination. Writing in Hillary negates the vote and can still give Obama the election so that is not an option. We cannot stand on principle any longer. We Hillary supporters must unite and stop this guy despite how the Democratic party will force Hillary to priase Obama at the convention. This is no longer in Hillary's hands. It is in our hands and we need to vote for McCain. I suspect at least 30% of Hillary supporters will cross party lines Nov 4th and give McCain the election. There is no way in hell Obama can win with that crossover. This will be our way of sticking it to the media the way they stuck it our girl!
This backlash can change the way the media shows bias for one candididate and return the country to objective news reporting.

Toyin, Marietta, GA   February 28th, 2008 3:40 pm ET

I hope she did not get that on credit!!!

Where do we go from here?   February 28th, 2008 3:39 pm ET

I am very, very happy to not be living in Texas or Ohio right now.

Can she really plough all that dough into her campaign before March 4th? If she doesn't, and she loses, where does the money go after she drops out? If she does, and she wins, what does she do thereafter?

Linda in Slidell, Louisiana   February 28th, 2008 3:38 pm ET

Hillary Clinton raised $35 million in February, more than double what the New York senator raised the month before,

In January, Clinton raised nearly $14 million, compared to Obama's $36 million.

Since WHEN is $35 million, MORE THAN DOUBLE $36 million????

Joe   February 28th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

I can't believe the Obama spokesman had to react by such an immature way...we've raised considerably more than that. Sounds like a child saying "my toy is better than yours." This campaign is getting so tiresome.

Brad, Obamaha NE   February 28th, 2008 3:37 pm ET

how much of that came from lobbyists? i'm not too informed on political funding, so this is not a jab at her but rather a simple question i wish to be answered.

Di   February 28th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Go Hillary!!!

Annie from California   February 28th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Isn't that just great! And then CNN has to put the slap in there from the Obama Camp. I would ask that the Obama camp prove it! I only say that because where indeed is all this money coming from if not from one person to another?

D in atlanta   February 28th, 2008 3:36 pm ET

Robin Wagner from ct   February 28th, 2008 3:32 pm ET

I wonder how much is her OWN money . Why is she has NOT re least her taxes.? What are the Clinton's HIDING ?
I for one don't want a president that lieing . And HIDING the truth. We have that now . With BUSH .
We are so very sick of this crap . It been 6 years now and where still in Iraq . My son. She can not not matter how you look at it flop now . She voted for this war . As well as McCain. What is the fight . She going to come after McCain about what. ? They both support this war in IRAQ.
So she raised money in Feb . So what Barack has NOT have to give his campaign is own money . Also he has NOT have to change his staff .
Also he has NOT gave is own Campaign MONEY.

Ann Aloha FariMedia, PA   February 28th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Let's see...35million and No Glorified Endorsements From The Media and she is poised to win Texas, Ohio, Vermont and Rhode Island. When she wins those states, she can least say she's a better businesswoman than Senator Obama after he implied he was a better businessman than Mitt Romney at the Hollywood debate.
Hmmmm let's sit back and enjoy the polls swaying back to Senator Clinton...especially after Ralph Nader was glorified by the media during the past week.

Hillary Clinton: Release your taxes! What are you hiding?

Okay..   February 28th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

Now she can get reimbursed for the loan she gave to her campaign.. Thanks people for putting her funds back into her pocket...

Obama is the one   February 28th, 2008 3:31 pm ET

That's another $35m down the drain.

Berkeley   February 28th, 2008 3:30 pm ET

The Clinton supporters are waking up. Enough non sense about alowing Obama out spend us and hence having 4x more media exposure in all those places where they have won.
Clinton has the substance, let us help her get where she ought to be, the White House.
Go Hillary!!!

michelle, TX   February 28th, 2008 3:29 pm ET

She will have to give all that back after March 4th. Because her races for the white house will be over.

Pon Mao   February 28th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Good for Clinton, does that mean now her campaign can pay all her restaurant bills and hotel bills on time, and not "Forget" to pay some of them?

Randy - Denver   February 28th, 2008 3:27 pm ET

Hmm when she loses Tuesday will she send that moneyu back to the three or four people who donated it or will it just go into her pockets? More than likely some of it will go into her pockets as "interest" on the 5 mil she "loaned" her campaign.

Okay I know that she will turn most of it over to the DNC but just could not resist a little nudging of the Clintonistas.

Frodo   February 28th, 2008 3:25 pm ET

Hard to feel good about $35m completely, utterly wasted, when you consider the good $35m would do put elsewhere rather than on this candidate.

Patricia H - Las Vegas   February 28th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

oh great, so now she can blow people hard earned dollars on frivilous expenses. Everyone who gives her money should check out how much she blew on hotel bill in Las Vegas, well over $100,000 compared to about $42,000 spent by Obama campaign in same time period. Before she says she is going to fix our economy she needs to learn to control her diahreaa of the wallet spending habits.

Dakota, MS   February 28th, 2008 3:23 pm ET

Whatever...she'll still say and do anything to be president. I'm not buying it.

Dakota, MS

KMAN   February 28th, 2008 3:22 pm ET

The amount of money Hillary raised in February is very impressive ... I wonder how much of it was a loan from her own funds? I'd also like to know the number of new donors she attracted ... I'm betting it's not nearly as impressive a number as the dollar figure!

dchu   February 28th, 2008 3:21 pm ET

Does the 35 mil include the 5 mil loan? Also why announce today, did they forget its a leap year! Also expect Obama's campaign to have raised in excess of 50mil.

tampa florida   February 28th, 2008 3:20 pm ET

you say she raised $35M in the text. and you say she raised $36M in the caption.
either way it's too little, too late.

Freedom Lawrence   February 28th, 2008 3:19 pm ET

That is not the issue right now....No matter how y'all try to promote HRC....Is not going to work against obama...Obama is a saint and we can feel his presence everywhere arround the world. I wouldnt have allow HILLARY to contest on any presidential election if i was BILL...Gone are the days when we use to say IN GOD WE TRUST.. I beleive in OBAMA we shall say that again IN GOD WE TRUST.

Samir Nyednanajad   February 28th, 2008 3:18 pm ET

Barack Obama is NOT a Muslim!

INDY PENDENT   February 28th, 2008 3:18 pm ET

Lets see of that 35Million, she will repay herself for the 5Million she loaned herself plus interest. Sounds like Hillary is making Money Personally off her own Campaign.

Sort of telling when Romney loaned his campaign a ton of Money but did not charge interest or even repay himself with Campaign Donations.

Clinton Loans her Campaign Money, Charges interest for it and you the donators have just payed her back her 5 mill+interest.

She is definatley smarter then her supporters. Once she realized she's going to lose this, she figures she needs to start making some money off of you people.

Release the Tax Records Hillary so we can see how much you are benefitting from us Tax Payers.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   February 28th, 2008 3:18 pm ET

Good for Hillary, I'm sure that helps boost her spirit.

Republicrat   February 28th, 2008 3:16 pm ET

I wonder how much of that was spent on pizza...

Jay   February 28th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

for some reason i think that her campaign was compelled to release this information in hopes of a sign of health for the campaign, but i think that obama may raise more than 50 million in the same period

Mike   February 28th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

If I were her, I would pay myself back.

Obama Guy   February 28th, 2008 3:14 pm ET

I gurantee Obama about double that...he was at 35 million at the middle of the month...this election is over anyway...Obama in my eyes is already the nominated candiate for the party...they just need hilary's camp to suffer the death blow of losing another state to tell her its over.

Melinda -somewhere in the USA   February 28th, 2008 3:13 pm ET

good for you Hillary, now you know that you real friends are the little people who contribute to your campain.
GO HILLARY.!
Now that we have a woman who has the qualifications, tenacity and strength to get this far.

Arnold from Gunnison, CO   February 28th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

Good for you Hillary. But I think the race on who can raise more money is already over.

Rom   February 28th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

OK stop it now!
We have enough of how much each campaign raises or which one has a better middle name. This election should me about America and nothing else

jason   February 28th, 2008 3:11 pm ET

It's really only $30 million, she has to pay $5 million herself back. Will she pay herself interest ? She sould just drop out now and give all that money to people who need it instead of paying for TV air time in what is turning out to be a loosing battle.

Arlington Texas   February 28th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

So where is the her TAX RETURN,

The Clinton are still hidding the money.

gene   February 28th, 2008 3:07 pm ET

You go girl. Three local polls out today. Insider Advantage, Public Strategies and Belo. All three have Clinton ahead. Your having to overcome a biased media. Lou Dodds is the only person on CNN who told it like it was. Said you did good and it was almost a disgrace on how you were treated. American people by far and large are fair and they are just starting see how unfairly you have been treated. Its going to pay off in the polls for you, starting on March 4th. Take a word out of Harry Truman play book and"give em Hell".

Wilma, in Georgia   February 28th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

Hillary can do it if the media will keep their opinioms to themselves.

Rich in Seattle   February 28th, 2008 3:06 pm ET

Guess we know what Hillary supporters will be doing with their stimulus check from Bush. Paying back their credit cards from their donations to Hillary. That will be pretty discouraging to do after she loses.

They will call it the Hillary Hang-Over.

Ito, Yokosuka Japan   February 28th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

$35 million, eh?

Of course, the first $5 million will from donars will repay the loan she made to herself. The next $60K from donars will pay the interrest on the loan she made to herself.

Where else can you give yourself $5 million and then get $60K in interest from the pockets of other people?

HRC is a con artist and her donars have been scammed. She is laughing all the way to the bank for that payday.

Expect more of the same if she becomes President. Give her credit though. She is obviously not that stupid. As for her donars? I'm not so sure.

Karen   February 28th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

Is it just me? I didn't endorse Mitt Romney's campaign for President. Mitt must be a savy business man since he has made millions in the business world. So I have to wonder, why wouldn't Mitt Romney "loan" his campaign the $30 or $40 million dollars he put into his campaign? Did he just miss that one? And why won't Hillary show her taxes?

Jake   February 28th, 2008 3:05 pm ET

Seriously people we must donate to her campaign. There's no way she can lose this nomination. We need her in the white house next year. I have never been so commited to an election as I am now. I like Obama but he just doesn't have the experience, the contacts, the international knowledge as much as Clinton. We can't let young kids who don't understand the real issues both domestically and internationally tell us who will be the nominee. This process has been so unfair (caucuses allowing anyone to vote, even if they're younger than 18, primaries that allow republicans to vote, etc) and it's about time we react heavily in Hillary's favor.

Chris   February 28th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

Maybe people are beginning to wake up.... to the facts that Hillary is the only one that can turn this country around, and pull America out of its free fall! Hillary is the only one with a plan for everything. Hillary Clinton keep on keeping on..... !

AJ, IL   February 28th, 2008 3:04 pm ET

The Clinton campaign is trying to do what Obama's campaign did last month. Come on news media do your jobs. Does the $35 million include any personal loans? How many donors did she have? How much of the February amount raised can be used in the primary? Are we sure those donations are legit (i.e. no Peter Paul or Norman Hsu improper funding scenarios)?

It is quite interesting and impressive that a presidential candidate can lose 11 straight primaries and caucuses post Feb. 5th by an average margin of 33% and still have her best month of fundraising ever.

Let's recap $35 million raised in February (?) divided by zero post-Super Tuesday wins = Infinity (i.e. translation, equals WASTEFUL SPENDING).

Adam   February 28th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Atta Girl!
Let the Comeback Begin!

HILLARY 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lori cummings   February 28th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

I hope she continues to raise a lot of money. We sent her money. I hope we prove the pundits wrong and she wins Texas and Ohio. I love her and her experience.

HP Boston   February 28th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Obscene amounts of money will not help Barry/Obama win this race.

HIllary Clinton will win, we will put her on the ballot no matter what amount of money is spent.

Write her on the ballot ,Women for Hillary we ARE the majority.

She is a shoe in and a WRITE IN! We can do it yes we can. WHY? B/C we can!

DrFill   February 28th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

Obama can fall out of bed and get $35M.
How much out of her pocket?
DrFill

Geoffwjr   February 28th, 2008 3:03 pm ET

How much of her own money did she use, Oh I forgot we don't know she won't rlease her tax returns like Barrack did.

SHAMEFUL H. Clintons

Sam   February 28th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

Save your money people. How many jobs did Hillary promise to Upstate NY? And she ended up with a net loss of 30,000 jobs in Upstate NY. Hillary has proven with all her promises, she can NOT deliver.

kigozi   February 28th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

Now that the Money has rolled in, Hillary jump on the Express and go to texas and raise the votes needed...Mark Penn should get up and do the work he is being paid for

Tom Wittmann   February 28th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

AND A LARGE PART OF THESE MONEY, PLUS A EVEN LARGER AMOUNT WHICH OBAMA WOULD NOT HAVE SPENT IF HILLARY WOULD HAVE CONCEDED FEB19, THROWN TO THE OPEN MOUTH
OF THE "OH SO BIASED" MEDIA FOR A LOST CAUSE ??

I AM SURE THAT SUCH COULD BE BETTER USED FOR THE NOVEMBER ELECTIONS !!

TOM

Greg   February 28th, 2008 3:02 pm ET

I'm glad my contributions have helped her to get to this point. Obamaniacs decided early on that the fund raising ability of their messiah was an indication of his ability to lead, to that end I would like to say IN YOUR FACE!!

IMHO, Obama can not win in November, and I hope Texans who are undecided start looking at the facts. Why would so many of us choose Clinton despite her so called flaws? It is entirely based on her proven ability to lead, and in these troubling times, why would you roll the dice with another inexperienced candidate? I don't mean to say he is another Bush, but for God's sake people, he doesn't take his Senate responsibilities seriously, if he really wanted to make a difference in the world he should have started there.

If he is VP for 4 or 8 years, at least then he would have the experience necessary. I think we should unite behind Clinton, and push for a Clinton-Obama ticket, maybe then we can beat McCain.

Clinton-Obama '08

Theresa   February 28th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

Leave it to Obama's camp to try to one up Sen Clinton....who cares if he raised more....stop the playground behaviour.

kigozi   February 28th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

PLEASE OBAMA DON'T INFLATE YOUR NUMBERS WHEN YOU COME OUT WIT A FIGURE FOR THIS MONTH, YOU RAISED LESS THAN HILLARY

Amy in Iowa   February 28th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

I am quite sure American people, without lobbyist money that Hillary has, have donated way more to the Obama campaign. His campaign reached the 1 million donor mark. That is significant.

Michelle in Philly   February 28th, 2008 3:01 pm ET

YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!! We can do this, what the media and the other opponents don't understand is that Hillary supporters are strong and steady and we are going to fight till the end to get the only candidate for the toughest job in america to the White House.

Edgar   February 28th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

About time – you have lot more people behing you Hillary!

RT   February 28th, 2008 3:00 pm ET

How much of that money belongs to the "special interests" groups in Washington that you claim you are going to fight?

chevy   February 28th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

The lobbyists are starting to see hillary's demise, They have started to see the urge within the american public for change. Realizing these things they now know they will not thrive under the obama administration.

DD, New York   February 28th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

You Go Girl!!!

Greg   February 28th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

I'm glad my contributions have helped her to get to this point. Obamaniacs need decided early on that the fund raising ability of their messiah was an indication of his ability to lead, to that end I would like to say IN YOUR FACE!!

MICHAEL BURNETT L.I.N.Y.   February 28th, 2008 2:59 pm ET

Sence she wont be needing it I suggest that she take that money back to New York and help the people that could really use 35 million dollars. T

Amy in Iowa   February 28th, 2008 2:58 pm ET

Wait, how is this great news? Wasn't the Clinton machine touted as a money making machine all along? Change happens.

Charlotte   February 28th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Pretty good for low income voters. The Obama-bots might send more but who cares, they make more money right? Go Hillary will donate more on the first.

NO OBAMA   February 28th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

This race should come down to Hillary Clinton and John McCain. That's the right battle - two very experienced people with meaningful platforms, and a plan to take care of the people of this country and the country itself.

Barack Obama is merely a child playing in the sandbox with a bunch of smart, big kids, and trying to keep up with them and mimic what they do and say.

Lisa   February 28th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

I am 46 years old and have never contributed to a political campaign, but I will continue to donate to Hillary's campaign as long as she sticks in there! I believe she is the best qualified candidate for our Nation. I just wish she had start promoting online contributions sooner, that way she would have been able to match Obama's onslaught of negative advertising!

Amy, Kazoo   February 28th, 2008 2:57 pm ET

Good for both of them, although sadly, it starts to read like a "my dad can beat up your dad" bumper sticker after a while. I hope the one up-ing can stop soon. It's tiresome.

Denver   February 28th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Everyone knows the "Clinton" name means corruption and scandle.

We don't want anymore of your "Old Washington" experience.

We want fresh blood and new ideas in Washington.

Obama is the one for us !

Frank   February 28th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Good for her .. then she does not have to cry for money anymore.

So, if she had that much money (plus her own millions), the argument that she made that she does not have enough money really does not fly, does it ?

It's good news because it will make it more difficult to explain her defeat later :)

Tomorrow is Friday and I will send another contribution to our Obama movement.

I am looking forward to hear about Obama's numbers.

OBAMA'08

BAKERSFIELD   February 28th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

OBAMA WILL COPY HILLARY'S PLAN JUST WATCH – CHILD POVERTY PLAN

Mark, VA   February 28th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

There is more support out there for Hillary than what is being reported.

Will   February 28th, 2008 2:56 pm ET

Too little too late... this election is already over
If Clinton had the lead that Obama currently has, we would be hearing about how it is all over. And to think that SHE is the one who thinks the media is biased....

Chris   February 28th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

Go Hillary I have donated to your campaingn. Keep on fighting we can not let Obama win.

BAKERSFIELD   February 28th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

OBAMA WILL COPY HILLARY'S PLAN JUST WATCH

Veronica   February 28th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

Yes, that's right.... Hillary Rodham Clinton can raise money. I myself donated to this wonderful candidate. She is awesome and she won the debate in Cleveland. I'm going to donate again and I hope all of Hillary's millions of supporters continue to support her campaign.

bob   February 28th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

It's the economy stupid!
Forget the name, the costume, the speeches, etc. This country is facing it's most difficult years ahead – and we are electing the most inexperienced person to do the job. Are we insane? Obama may be a great candidate that everyone likes – But we need a HILLARY CLINTON to get us through the next four years. Were is our rationality? God help us if we mess this one up.

Jeff   February 28th, 2008 2:55 pm ET

what a waste of $35 Million...

I'm more interested in the number of donors and average amount donated...

Relax Folks   February 28th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Incorrect CNN. Earlier this month she reported that she loaned her campaign $5 Million in January.

The $35 Million for the month of February is legitimate and climbing.

Grif   February 28th, 2008 2:54 pm ET

Go! Hillary, go. Just keep doing what your doing, and keep it honest.

The let other guy keep doing Flip-Flopping.

Angie, Charlotte NC   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Did Hillary loan her campaign more money?

leah   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

congrats on raising $30 million and thanks to her blind supporters they just paid back her $5 million loan. heard sen. obama raised $50 million.

ginny bell j.b.n.ga.   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

RACE GENDER
BEFORE YOU SEND ANY MORE TO OBOMA H. YOU MIGHT WANT A FEW QUESTION ANSWERED.....

LEWIS CLEARLY DID NOT WANT TO GIVE UP HIS VOTE....

HIS BLACK BROS. MADE HIM...WHY? BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL?

HIS CHURCH.... RACE ALL THE WAY THROUGH....HE HAS BEEN AN ACTIVE MEMBER FOR 20.YEARS.....

IF THIS HAD BEEN A VOTE TAKEN AWAY FROM A WHITE MAN IT WOULD BE FRONT PAGE NEWS.......

BUT IT WAS A WOMAN (ANY COLOR) SO IT IS ON THE BACK PAGE.....WHY?

jude   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

Its dispicable when you loan yourself 5 million and then go out and ask the american people to support your campaign with money out of their pockets. Doesn't it seem just wrong!!!? Why don't she just use money from her own pocket? I don't know about the rest of the Hill supporters but this just doesn't seem right to me!!!!

John - Spokane, WA   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

That tells me there's alot of support out there for Hillary, Watch out Obama – HERE COMES SEABISCUIT !!! Go get em Hillary , you have support !

Nick   February 28th, 2008 2:53 pm ET

The headline says 35 million and the caption of the photo says 36 million.

pd4hillary   February 28th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

Keep going Hillary!!! All the way to Denver!!

Di   February 28th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

GO HILARY GO, there are a lot of us out here that are 100% behind you and believe in what you sand for.

txpoodoo   February 28th, 2008 2:52 pm ET

35 Million...not bad at all.....I wonder what Obama will officially come in at?

Texas4Obama   February 28th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

Did she pay herself back the $5 million she is CHARGING her campaign INTEREST on?

Time to release your tax returns Ms. Clinton!

Obama '08

Joe   February 28th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

I just donated to Clinton's campaign again! Go Hillary!!

suzy   February 28th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

GO HILLARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!

PATSY   February 28th, 2008 2:51 pm ET

GREAT TO HEAR!

HILLARY/ 08

Cali guy   February 28th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

And yet people are saying she should exit the race. Folks should remember the names of the folks in office that called for this. Rather than let the process play out which apparently $35 million dollars worth of people seem committed to have happen, those folks in public office hava basically said those that contirbuted to Hillary's bid for the White House should be ignored.

Mike   February 28th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

Go Hillary... You are the best for the country right now !!!!

Ken Phillips, Jersey City, NJ   February 28th, 2008 2:49 pm ET

WHAT IS THE POINT?

TheLeftNut   February 28th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

REPUBLICANS ARE SCARED TO DEATH OF HILLARY!

Why? Because payback is a Hillary.

You go girl!

lilahenna   February 28th, 2008 2:48 pm ET

I GIVE HER $200
GO CLINTON THE HOPE FOR THIS NATION

LatinoNation   February 28th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

and I will keep sending money and my mom sisters brothers and friends> ::)

vip-tours@hotmail.com   February 28th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

IF SHE BELIEVE IN THIS CAMPAIGN SO MUCH THEN SHE SHOULD HAVE GAVE THE MONEY TO HER CAMP instead of a loan.....now when she loses she'll take hers back off the top ... fools

Ron, TX   February 28th, 2008 2:47 pm ET

Are we sure this doesn't include another loan? She "fibbed" last time in January, conveniently leaving out that she had to loan herself $5 million dollars because of her bad campaign finance money skills.

JK   February 28th, 2008 2:46 pm ET

I wonder how much is already gone to overpaid advisers, and donoughts. Its sad to see every week you are sending out more emails for money, so there must not be much left.
