(CNN) – Days before a crucial set of primaries, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is expected to make a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live tonight, an entertainment industry source tells CNN.

A spokesman for Saturday Night Live would not confirm the appearance, saying only, “It's a live show, anything can happen”

Clinton did not arrive for a campaign charter flight from Dallas to Columbus, Ohio Saturday evening. The campaign would not say where she was.

Democratic candidate Barack Obama appeared on Saturday Night Live unannounced around Halloween, and GOP candidate Mike Huckabee did a bit on the show’s Weekend Update last Saturday. Clinton is also scheduled to appear on John Stewart’s “Daily Show” Monday, on the eve of voting in Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont.

LA CRUZ FOR OBAMA   March 1st, 2008 8:12 pm ET

She might announce that her campaign was just a joke.

Cherish   March 1st, 2008 8:12 pm ET

Why wouldn't Hillary appear on SNL? They're her only allies in the press, right? They're the only unbiased media source presenting voters with facts, right?

aware   March 1st, 2008 8:15 pm ET

Hillary the HOPE of 2008 and 2012. We will overcome!

Elizabeth   March 1st, 2008 8:16 pm ET

I like SNL a lot and have always been a fan- but if they are going to use their show to show a slanted, biased support it's kind of annoying for whatever candidate they choose. I want the show for laughs and not to be annoyed and to feel pushed towards an agenda.

Either way, I'll still watch tonight for Ellen Page.

seektruth   March 1st, 2008 8:16 pm ET

she keep on remind us she will not readty for first question! how can she be ready for the toughest job in the world! she is afraid she get wrong at first time again.

Obama 08 ! leader of sound judgement !

How exciting! Good timing.

Edgar   March 1st, 2008 8:19 pm ET

LOVE HILLARY! Vote for someone who is a fighter and ready on DAY ONE!

charles laffiteau   March 1st, 2008 8:20 pm ET

Saturday Night Live huh? Well it is true Hillary didn't show up for her flight from Dallas to Ohio earlier this evening. I suspect that something is up. Maybe an endorsement from John Edwards for her? Or maybe she left to see if she could stop Edwards from endorsing Obama? Or maybe you could substitute the name Bill Richardson for John Edwards in both of those questions. Whatever is up it must be big for her to suddenly disappear like this. The last time she did this it was to have a secret meeting with John Edwards. Guess SNL appearance would give her camapign the same kind of boost as an endorsement though.

Sean, Detroit MI   March 1st, 2008 8:20 pm ET

Not for nothing but: The "ticker" seems to be Clinton heavy this weekend. Just thought I'd point that out.

Alice Rea   March 1st, 2008 8:24 pm ET

Obama has to attack Clinton. He can't really talk about experience.
His experience is weak. Clinton is the only one whose resume is ready to be President of the United States.

Wake up America!
Read about Farrakan and the United Trinity Church in Chicago and you'll learn about a new Obama that no one talks about.

Resko is another search everyone should do on other websites.

Wake up America!!!!!!!!!!!

kathy in ohio   March 1st, 2008 8:27 pm ET

MELMARIE   March 1st, 2008 8:29 pm ET

WHY NOT…THEY ARE ENDORSING HER!!!

OBAMA '08

MarilynJonesLadig   March 1st, 2008 8:29 pm ET

Maybe she is auditioning for a new job since she is not going to make it to Pennsylvania with her brooms and mops and fake southern accent.

SWING STATE FAMILY   March 1st, 2008 8:31 pm ET

Oh …are we in the 'Funny Hillary' Phase now ? I think I have seem about every other face already .

Well, she has been ridiculous all along …maybe she thinks she is funny. Then again, the SNL team will write the jokes for her.

Deborah   March 1st, 2008 8:32 pm ET

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me is cooler. (They've had McCain and Obama, as well as Huckabee (not hard to get, I'll grant, but he was very good) and Lynn Cheney.)

tom   March 1st, 2008 8:32 pm ET

President Bush and Senators' McCain and Clinton are all responsible for the blunder in Iraq that is killing and maiming our soldiers and sending billions of dollars a month down a sink hole.
Do any one of these three deserve your vote?
Look around at the world and our economy. Do any of these three deserve your vote? There is an alternative. And although that alternative does not guarantee anything, is it not better to chance that we can do better than what we have now? It is about hope and hope for change or staying with the garbage we already know.
Your choice fellow Americans. Nothing ventured, Nothing gained.

Sabrina, Las Vegas, NV   March 1st, 2008 8:32 pm ET

Oh God!

I guess it can get worse!

I guess SNL is her biggest support system now, anything to win Sen. Clinton, anything to win.
After all, she is a fighter, you know, like G. Bush is a decider.

LOL

Independent 4 Obama!
Independent 4 Life!

Jane   March 1st, 2008 8:33 pm ET

Hillary is the next Mike Huckabee!!

SNL is where failed candidates go for free attention when they've run out of cash and falling behind in the race.

LOL. She belongs on a comedy, since her campaign is a real joke!

tom   March 1st, 2008 8:33 pm ET

Obama supporters let the media give her all the coverage she needs and let her make the best attempt she can to get her message out there. It is only fair. In the end I am confident the best person will win.

LN   March 1st, 2008 8:34 pm ET

I have watched all the Presidential Debates on both sides of the political spectrum and have concluded that Hillary Clinton has certainly presented herself as the most worthy candidate for the white house. Her obvious steep knowledge of issues crirical to the nation is admirable. But despite she is the best candidate I am not sure what it is that the media have against her; is it because of her gender. Is she supposed to be "man enough". I don't understand the obvious media bias against her. Is America not worthy/ready of a female President? History will judge us.

Kel   March 1st, 2008 8:35 pm ET

Comedy has it ways of saying the truth. THe truth is the media has a bias against her… Its great she is fighting back…Shame on you Chris Mattews, CNN, MSNBC, ETC ETC ETC

Sue Butterfield   March 1st, 2008 8:37 pm ET

What a great woman she is . She has the greatness it takes to lead this wonderful country . She is a true leader .

Dalton   March 1st, 2008 8:37 pm ET

Clinton might actually say something funny. What are the odds?

dominic digiovanni   March 1st, 2008 8:38 pm ET

go hillary,SNL GIVES the fairest shot,CNN IS LEFTIST,ONE HUNDRED MILLION AMERICANS would send NETWORK to CUBA.i sick and tired ,and im not going to take it anymore.

deep_eye   March 1st, 2008 8:38 pm ET

Wow - that IS funny AND significant - uh-huh. SNL stopped being relevant about 10 years ago - could someone please fill Hill in? She's heady with new optimism, because Fey did a skit on Obama - great, just great! Yeah, you're presidential material - I sure want YOU answering that phone.

Byron in CA   March 1st, 2008 8:41 pm ET

Will be nice to see her on both and I'm sure America will be tuning in.

I suggest anyone that is a Hillary supporter just do what I do when you're tired of seeing all the pro obama post to come, with their angry hate and loathing of Clinton, (and though it's not all of them they have a high percentage from my observations), instead of reason with some thoughfull insight into their opinion…. Just scroll down to the next one till you find someone with something new to say on the subject. Go Hillary 2008 & 2012

Independent Voter   March 1st, 2008 8:42 pm ET

Nobody cares about Hillary any more. She is OLD news.

Nobody want a REPUGnican in the White House either.

To really clean house, we need Obama in November and a whole new House and Senate. Throw out ALL of those in office now. ALL of them!!!

Oh.. and CNN… you might check your spelling of the word "surprise" in this story's headline.

Sherry   March 1st, 2008 8:46 pm ET

I think it would be great to see Hillary On SNL. She is funny when she wants to be. I think SNL will love it too.
She is also going to be on The Daily Show.

Hillary '08

dilmont   March 1st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

Not to be a stickler for accuracy or anything - but if something is expected, it is by definition NOT a surprise. It could be unpublicized. But it is NOT a surprise.

Damian   March 1st, 2008 8:47 pm ET

I think that's a good idea, talk show and late night show appearances do wonders for campaigns. I think this will give people a chance to see a more human Hillary that most know is there but not many have seen. Before the Ohio and Texas primary this might give her supporters an extra boost of enthusiasm to come out and support her.

Rene   March 1st, 2008 8:49 pm ET

Hmmmm! I wonder if she will cry again? But it's a comedy show so hopefully she'll know better.

I'm so sick of hearing about her so-called experience. Obama has more legislative experience than she does. Being a first lady does not qualify as experience.

If she's going to run the country the way she ran her campaign, we're in big trouble.

By the way, what about those tax returns? And what is she and Billo hiding that they won't release them?

Bill   March 1st, 2008 8:52 pm ET

Ill be watching. GO HILLARY…

PAUL   March 1st, 2008 8:53 pm ET

I LOVE ME SOME HILLARY. I CAN'T WAIT FOR HER TO BE IN THE WHITE HOUSE. NOT ONLY HAS SHE BEAT OBAMA, THE REPUBLICANS, BUT ALSO NEWS TV. NOW THATS A TOUGH LADY.

Jeff   March 1st, 2008 8:54 pm ET

IT IS GREAT NEWS THAT SHE WILL BE ON SNL AND THE DAILY SHOW.
SHE NEEDS FOR THE FIRST TIME SOME POSITIVE PRESS.
I WATCH CNN EVERY DAY AND I FND IT IS THE MOST BIASED COVERAGE I HAVE EVER SEEN.
WOLF, ANDERSON AND THE LEADS ARE FAIRLY EVEN BUT IT IS ALL THE SO CALLED EXPERTS THAT EVERY ONE IS PRO OBAMA AND AGAINST HILLARY.

I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO OBAMA.
HE KEEPS SAYING HE WAS AGAINST THE WAR BEFORE HE WS IN THE SENATE. HE SAYS THAT INSTEAD OF GOING TO WAR IN IRAQ WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIGHTING ALQAIDA IN AFGANISTAN YET HE IS THE CHAIR ON AN OVER SIGHT COMMIITY ON AFGANISTAN YET HAS NEVER HELD A MEETING. IF HE FEELS THAT AFGANISTAN WAS THE IMPORTANT ISSUE WHY HAS HE DONE NOTHING. ONLY CRITISIZED HILLARY ON MAKING A DECISION WITH FAULTY INFORMATION.

WHY HAS THE PRESS AND CNN NOT MADE A HUGE DEAL OF THIS. WHY HAS CNN NOT MADE A BIGGER ISSUE OF HIS TIES TO HIS CHURCH AND HIS CHURCHES TIES TO FARICAN.
WHY HAS THE PRESS SAID ALMOST NOTHING ABOUT OBAMAS WIFE SAYING IT IS THE FIRST TIME N HER ADULT LIFE TO BE AN AMERICAN. SHE TRIES TO SAY IT WAS TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT BY WHO THE MEDIA WHO FINDS ANY WAY TOPUT THEM AND THEIR WORDS IN A POSSITIVE LIGHT.

GO HILLARY AND WIN TEXAS, OHIO, RODE ISLAND, THEN TAKE PENSILVANIA

B. Smart   March 1st, 2008 8:56 pm ET

Please don't have her answering that phone…..

artseafartsea   March 1st, 2008 8:57 pm ET

Would love to see Hillary on SNL. It's about time she is getting some positive press from the media. I think all us thinking women who have and will be voting for her in November will be happy to see her.

Ashley   March 1st, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Free advertising…

Last ditch effort…

She needs it. Maybe she shouldn't have spent so much on donuts :)

She continues to show her "substance." Barack is on CSPAN talking issues and details and Hillary is going on SNL…

Trev   March 1st, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Yay, I will be watching! Obama will more than likely be in Canada. I still can't believe he pretended to be anti-NAFTA in Ohio, then had his people tell the Canadian government that his anti-NAFTA speeches were "just talk."

Michelle   March 1st, 2008 9:02 pm ET

I was just wondering something, on the debate this past Tuesday, when Tim Russert asked the foreign policy question about the Russian election on Sunday, he didn't pose that to a specific candidate, Obama looked straight away at Hillary like you take this one. He didn't know the answer, and she did, well she is the one I want answering that phone at 3am. With him in the White House I'm terrified with just the thought

CNN won't post this, I just needed to get it off my chest.

Bev from Canada   March 1st, 2008 9:04 pm ET

It seems that the candidates appear on Saturday Night Live whenever they are behind in the race for the nomination of their respective party's. Obama in November before the primaries and when everyone was predicting that Hillary would walk away with it. Huckabee who admits it will take a miracle to win the GOP nomination. And now Hillary Clinton hoping that an appearance on SNL will help her in her battle.

Please   March 1st, 2008 9:04 pm ET

It will be over by March 4th. Thank you God!!!

Jan   March 1st, 2008 9:04 pm ET
