Clinton goes after Obama's chairmanship in new ad

Clinton is launching new ads in Texas and Ohio Monday.
Clinton is launching new ads in Texas and Ohio Monday.

(CNN) Hillary Clinton hit Texas and Ohio airwaves Monday with two new television spots, including one that goes after Barack Obama for not holding any oversight hearings since becoming chairman of a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee.

"Barack Obama says he has the judgment to be president, but as chairman of an oversight committee charged with the force of fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan, he was too busy running for president to hold even one hearing," an announcer says in a 30-second Texas ad called "True."

"Hillary Clinton will never be too busy to defend our national security, bringing our troops home from Iraq and pursuing Al Qaeda in Afghanistan," the announcer also says.

Clinton first criticized Obama over his chairmanship of a subcommittee on Europe at last week's MSNBC debate.

'"It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan," she said then. "He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan."

Obama responded that he became chairman of that committee in January 2007, just as his presidential campaign was launching.

Clinton also went up with a new 30-second ad in Ohio on Monday called "Partner," in which she highlights the state's economic downturn and says she will fight for working families.

"The wealthy and the well-connected have had a president. It's time the middle class had a president who will stand up for you," Clinton says in that ad.

Now see ... this is the kind of ...

Obama is campaigning. Hillary is campaigning. McCain is campaigning. No one is in Washington working. I can't believe she ran this ad!

I live in New Mexico. When Gov Richardson was campaigning, we never saw the man. He was absent on a lot of things. All politicians are "absent" from the process when they campaign.

Obama ... please do NOT respond. Let it go.

    Obama 08!

Obama, change you can count on my A–, He tells the people one thing then tells the Canadians another. Back room meeting with them, telling them his talk was just talk. Well, I've been saying he is all talk form the beginning

Kitchen sink. More venom. Divisive. She is so NOT presidential. Hillary doesn't have any foreign policy experience. Bill does! I've jumped ship.

Shame on you, Hilary Clinton. You are a liar and cannot be trusted. The subcommittee that barack has become chairman of, has nothing to do with afghanistan and you know it. That is the committee run by John Kerry.

And if you are never to be busy Hilary Clinton, why didn't you vote on Chris Dodd's amendment to NOT give immunity to telecom companies. You were just down the road in Virginia. I guess you don't really care about our civil liberties.

his so called "judgment" is based on nothing. his record is thin and his past is shady and you'll all find this out IF he is the nominee... and if that happens say hello to president mccain!

Call me what you want, but I don't like Obama nor do I like Clinton. And I sure in hell, don't like McCain or Huckabee. I wish they did have a "none of the above" block in the ballots.

Hillary, is pretty desperate..the bottom line ..as ususual ..she continues to use negativity to get her point across..this is why so many Americans are selecting Obama as the next President of this country. We ae tired of the attacks!

    haha! Hillary! Nice shot!

You should do this early before now. OBAMA does not deserve your respect! Do not be so polite to him, if you are too nice to him, he will become crazy!

Obama is not the right person to be President. His claim to fame, "I was against the war." Oh wait, I wasn't sure when I was supporting Kerry. I think Al Qaeda in Afghanastan was the real threat, why I did not hold any meetings while chairing that committee, well I have been too busy campaigning for President for the past two years. The most important thing for me, is to be President. I will change the way Washington works. Every committee will be in name only. I will eliminate the Sec. of State position and meet with all foreign leaders, friends and foes. I will meet with the Canadians and tell them not to pay attention to what I say in public about NAFTA it was for votes in Ohio and Texas. Change you can count on???????

Hillary, you are absolutely correct. You put your focus on issues, Obama puts his focus on rallies and speeches.
Obama fans (I called fans instead of supporters since it is more like entertainment) may argue that Hillary has not revealed her tax return. I think the tax return is her personal and never will be as important as her job as a senator. Just in last week, I saw her speak at the State of Black Union, Foreign Policy Forum, and at an oficer's funeral. She is doing her job while running the campaign.

    Clinton drop out now!!!

For the good of the party, end this charade.

    You can't win. It's a mathematical impossibility.

    Hillary= Huckabee?

    DROP OUT NOW

    DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

This woman is getting too desperate. this is old news and If OBAMA is the chairman don't you think that makes him more of an acheiver because i dont know what committee who would nominate a nuisance for chairman. Clinton needs to drop out. we do not need any person who goes through menopause in the white house. What if that phone rings at 3AM and clinton is going through one of those times, how in the world can she respond. Obama has proven himself several times without numbers and is still loyal to the american people. Clinton you have thrown millions of attacks on OBAMA and you are still losing. what does this tell you(that you are not a leader). its time to drop out and go the the bar for some more drinks. Get sober or something.

    Funny,

    1) Hillary was too busy to read the Iraq reports before she blindly authorized Bush to invade Iraq.

    2) Hillary say she's for the working family, but yet she:
    i) was a acounsel/advisor for WALMART
ii) takes money from big corporations and lobbyists
iii) takes money from big time Chinese business men and lobbyists (made in CHINA)
iv) has supported and tauted how great NAFTA is

    3) Hillary was a Chicago Cubs fan all her life before she decided New York was the right place to start her Presidential campaign and jumped shipped to rout for the Yankees

So, clearly these ADS are all false. "Shame on you!"

I don't understand why Clinton supporters can't just own up to their lack of depth. They only say Obama is all talks but the truth is he has more legislative experience than Hillary.
Furthermore, how can Hillary claim to have any good judgement when she DID NOT READ the NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE estimate on IRAQ before VOTING to KILL THOUSANDS of our service men and several more Iraqis.
We're in trouble if she gets close to the white house ever again.

Ummmm, hello? At the Ohio debate, didn't Hillary CLEARLY state that the reason she hadn't provided her tax returns because she had been "too busy running for president?" Way to set double standards Hillary. That's why I'm voting for Obama.

With her increasing negativity, how is Senator Clinton going to legitimately put her support behind Obama in any convincing way after she bows out of the race and is asked to "unite the party"?

Yeah, but Hillary's too busy to release her tax returns and have transparency in the government. She's too busy to sleep but NOT too busy to go on SNL? She's a liar and is as cunning as they come. AT LEAST Obama admitted that he didn't have time to give meetings because he was on the campaign trail. I'd rather have an honest President that can admit to mistakes, than a president that will blatantly lie to the american people.

Finally, Obama was given a position of responsibility with the authority to actually do something other than cop to his junior status in the senate as the reason he hasn't been able to push through any legislation.
What has he done in this position? Run for president.
If we're going to have a senator as a president, then it had better be a "Work Horse" rather than a "Show Horse".
    It's either Clinton or McCain.

Obama knows that ANY oversight committee under the Bush administration is, essentially, on permanent vacation. To oversee Bush policy is pointless when the man won't listen to those who disagree with him. Obama urges people to disagree. He will listen and give purpose to oversight committees.

Cheap shot by Clinton when she KNOWS the committee is virtually meaningless.
