Clinton goes after Obama's chairmanship in new ad

Clinton is launching new ads in Texas and Ohio Monday.

(CNN) Hillary Clinton hit Texas and Ohio airwaves Monday with two new television spots, including one that goes after Barack Obama for not holding any oversight hearings since becoming chairman of a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee.

"Barack Obama says he has the judgment to be president, but as chairman of an oversight committee charged with the force of fighting al Qaeda in Afghanistan, he was too busy running for president to hold even one hearing," an announcer says in a 30-second Texas ad called "True."

"Hillary Clinton will never be too busy to defend our national security, bringing our troops home from Iraq and pursuing Al Qaeda in Afghanistan," the announcer also says.

Clinton first criticized Obama over his chairmanship of a subcommittee on Europe at last week's MSNBC debate.

'"It has jurisdiction over NATO. NATO is critical to our mission in Afghanistan," she said then. "He's held not one substantive hearing to do oversight, to figure out what we can do to actually have a stronger presence with NATO in Afghanistan."

Obama responded that he became chairman of that committee in January 2007, just as his presidential campaign was launching.

Clinton also went up with a new 30-second ad in Ohio on Monday called "Partner," in which she highlights the state's economic downturn and says she will fight for working families.

"The wealthy and the well-connected have had a president. It's time the middle class had a president who will stand up for you," Clinton says in that ad.

Yeah,Year Obama daying it's not about attacking each others campaine it's about who can run.Obama had said that Hillaary campaine ad "Who will be there to pick up the phone in the white house" He said Hillary is just trying to put faer into the people. And the ad was toward him.Well he did the same ad.who would you want to be president to pick up the phone in the white house.Obama did just what Hillary did,and Hillary didn't do this to put toward Obama,Obama is letting people believe that it's Hillary who runs her mouth toward him.well it's the other way around.Just listen to him.He will talk about what Hillary says and knock her for it and then turns around and says the same but with some added words. He doesn't know what to say.He gets it from the women herself Hillary. He doesn't want to be beat by a women. The first women president. Obama the first black president? How can that be? Obama is Black/white So the media needs to get it right..I am black and I am white to.Let's call it as it is.

WOW what a hypocrite. It's walking a fine line when you're a candidate who has also done NOTHING in the Senate while campaigning to attempt to blast your opponent for doing the same thing.

This has actually been written about as part of the "Clinton playbook". Attack your opponents on things you have actually done yourself. The hope is that your first attack, not the opponent's rebuttal, will stick in the mind of voters, which often works.

That was Hillary's plan with the "shame on you" of a week ago, when she attempted to highlight his "inaccurate" ad, despite the fact that her campaign had put out equally reprehensible ads in Wisconsin a week earlier....

The truth is that the primary season is entirely too long and time consuming and any serious contender for president is forced to this position. Where was Senator Clinton on the telcom vote? At a fundraiser. I don't blame her. The system demands it. McCain has missed his share of votes as well. We need a national primary. It's absurd. It's not that any of the candidates are willfully neglectful- it's that they don't have clones to be in 2 places at once and missing a meeting at a plant in Ohio would garner as much criticism.. Cut them all a break on this one and reform the process. That's the only solution.

Uhh – this committee was formed in Jan. 2008? We now have March 3 – hardly long enough to warrant an expensive TV ad about inaction.
Honestly, the Obama clip sort of makes a good case for the reason that hearings have not yet been held.

Obama is not telling the truth. He told voters in Ohio yesterday that his supporter Senator Rockefeller did not vote for the Iraq War....which in fact he DID vote for the war. Why isn't the media questioning Obama about this lie?

Committees, and especially sub-committees, do far more than hold hearings. They gather information, construct reports and inform other members of the committee of the results.

Hillary knows that but found a way to make a non-issue sound like one. Her refusal to release her tax information is a bigger issue in my opinion. Who's underwriting Hill and Bill?

The real point of interest on the sub-committee is what has they been doing, not whether or not they have held hearings.

It's interesting that Obama has not mentioned in his adds the corruption that was rampant in Clinton's years in the White House.

He does not mention how she stole $200,000 of valuables and treasures from the White house when they left – like a pack of white trash hillbillies.

He does not mention how Bill Clinton was disbarred and how Hillary almost met a similar fate for perjury.

Obama has never mentioned how Hillary got her hubby to overthrow the convictions of several of her former law partners, convicted as felons in the shady land deal she was center of with a Presidential Pardon.

This add exemplifies exactly why the Clintons should be shunned as white trash. President of the United States? Hardly.

This is the worst presentation of leadership I can recall in an election year. There have been some great slugfests throughout history in the Democratic Party, but none have been as detrimental to the party as is going on in this race. Hillary Clinton is destroying the Democrats chances of winning in the fall. She is doing more damage than to her own party than any previous third party candidate has ever done. I fully forsee her taking this battle all the way to the convention, and when she loses there, and has completely ruined the Democrats chances of beating McCain, she'll stand beside Barack, take his hand in hers, hold it over their heads, and say, "United We Stand! Yes We Can!!" Shameful. Absolutely shameful.

Much is said about nothing that is not true for all the candidates that were running, as they dropped out they returned to their normal every day jobs. What can one expect when they are trying to raise funds for their campaign and actually out there beating the streets meeting the public, holding rallies and talking to/organizing their core staff and workers? It is the same every 4 years, so get over it and move on.

If you have never done anything of note yourself, downgrade your opponent. No wonder people who study the facts support Obama.

It will get uglier before it gets better. Hillary stayed the course with Bill during the scandals to ensure she got this shot with his needed backing. The Clintons do not want to slip quietly into the night. YOu will see blood before she drops out.

At this point, she knows she can't win, but she want to inflict as much harm on Obama as possible, so that Obama will be very wounded before facing McCain.

The Clinton's want POWER for themselves, and they DON'T CARE about the Democratic party.

after March 4, ....the Billary Clinton's campaign will finally IMPLODE

Hillary has been too busy to release her tax return, and whiteHouse documents... she really has something to hide !!

This is the last desperate move....

People, if he is running for the President and doesn't have the time, can he not delegate it to someone.. We all do that at our work.

He was missing on the Iran Revolutionary guard vote too while Clinton and Mccain were there.

So how do we judge this guy, if not on his record..

Hillary tell us exactly what an oversight hearing is and what impact does it have on average americans lives ??

What impact does an OVERSIGHT HEARING have on the day to day lives of the troops in Afghanistan ??? I bet not much.
