Obama raises $55 million in February

Obama raised $55 million in February.
Obama raised $55 million in February.

(CNN) – Barack Obama’s campaign said Thursday that it had set a new campaign fundraising record, raising $55 million in February – roughly $20 million more than rival Hillary Clinton during the same time period. Nearly all of the money came in the form of contributions that can be used during the primary process.

The campaign said that 727,972 donors contributed to the campaign last month, including 385,101 first-time contributors. More than one million individuals have donated to Obama’s presidential campaign since it began last year.

More than $45 million of the February haul came in the form of online contributions, according to the campaign. More than 90 percent of those donations were $100 or less; half were $25 or less. Three-quarters of online donors in February were first-time contributors, and more than a third of those individuals went on to engage in volunteer activity coordinated through the campaign’s Web site.

Now come on BO, show me your dealings with Rezko, and the dealing of your dear wife with the City Hospital in Chicago????
It is time we know more about you. How about campaing reform????ha??? too much double talk you would not even acknowledge your YES signature that you would do this........
Feel sorry for Obama supporters to have gotten sucked in into the "promise of change" where everything for him is business as usual. He is a quick learner, with barely a year in the senate deciding to run for president quickly acquiring $$$$$$$ to fund a campaing of HOPE.......THIS TRULY SHOWS CHANGE. HYPOCRIT, DYSHONEST.
I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR OBAMA, NEVER!!!!

Jenny! It's coming from people like me ($35), and my ex ($20), and my mom ($10).

It's like Andrew Sullivan says on his blog, it's "a million little donors." And we don't expect ANY favors or recognition any bigger than a standard e-mail thanks.

Who contributes to Clinton? What do they expect in return?

I am proudly one of those contributors. People can spin this any way they want to, but my only question for Hillary supporters is why is it okay for her to attack her own party? She has been calling honest, hard-working American Democratic caucus-goers in Texas cheaters just because she cannot admit defeat (in terms of delegates) in Texas. It is so unfair that the media is ignoring the Texas Caucus and Hillary is accusing Obama supporters of being cheaters.

I simply cannot see myself voting for someone who would attack her own political party.

If obama gets the nomination...then it is time to vote for McCain, maybe he will place Colin Powell on the ticket for vice president...a well respected, well educated puppet-free person

  6. VOTER FOR TRUTH, DIGNITY

I love Obama! He is a great humanitarian. He is a Truthful,
and fair, he is a great husband and father to Michelle, he is
gentleman, he is smart, he is likable, open minded, he is a man of GOOD JUDGEMENT. He would be a Great negotiater, and will make
the same impression to Our Country, and Our World. Obama does not whine or blame the other guy when things are not going his
way. He is not contstantly threatening to sue everybody that comes
in his way. Obama has to be literally backed into a corner before
he will go on the attack. Will never lie and he will come across to the Nation as another,"GREAT NEGOTIATER". ALL UPFRONT, FOR THE WORLD TO SEE!!!!

Bill and Hillary need to go into hiding now that there own people
brought up Ken Starr's name. How stupid is that? To remind people
of the fiasco that happened to absorb most of the last years of Bill's
Presidency. The Clinton's will have no one to blame since they them-selves elected to release this trashis brought out now. Believe me, the Republicans WERE saving into be their big attack on her should she win the nomination.

OBAMA or Nothing in 2008-He is the one that brought out the
Voters-Not Hillary. If Hillary wins the nomination, the NUMBERS
of Dem. voters will drop bigtime. I believe that is a FOR SURE.

OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT AND NO ONE ELSE. 2008
NOT VICE PRES. TO A LIAR. IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN
THE MAN HAS MORE SCRUPLES THAN TO FOLLOW
    A LIAR.

Obama outspent Clinton almost 3 to 1 in Ohio and Ttexas and still lost. If Florida and Michigan revote, Obama must win those states because he is in trouble. Pennsyvlania is going to be a close race but Clinton will win. If Clinton wins in PA and wins a revote in Florida and Michigan, Obama is done.

Clinton supporter are blind just like their beloved candidate. You know what Obama did with all that money he recieves, he reduced the percentage in Texas and Ohio that Hillary was suppose to win by. She was 25 and 30 points ahead of him in those states and he reduced the points significantly, thus reducing the number of delagates that she recieved. Before Ohio and Texas, he was 106 delagates ahead, after Ohio and Texas he's 96 delagates ahead. Clinton Campaign is decieving her supporter making them believe that a big accomplishment was made, when the truth is, that weeks ago she a big lead those states and she lost that lead. Clinton supporters, scratch your head and go figure.

Obama people just don't get it. He had the momentum, he had the lead, he had the money, he has the media behind him, but he still couldn't close. That is important. Money isn't everything you know.

And BTW, maybe the reason why he raised so much money is because the people that support him besides being college kids, are the wealth bracket, who make over $100,000. People that support Hillary are blue collar workers, they can't afford to spend that much money, no matter how much the would like to.

I am tired of Obama supporters questioning Hillary's taxes. They should be worried about why it took Obama this long to just release the amount of money his campaign made last month. It seems to me that they took so long to release the amount because they were probably scheming on how to cover the fact that they were taking mony from lobbyists.

Anybody giving Clinton money at this point is throwing good money after bad. The delegate math doesn't work... she can't get the lead. Don't believe me?.... go play with one of the delegate calculators like the one at Slate.com. She would have to win by an average ratio of 60/40 or better in all remaining states.... this just won't happen.

Why on earth are you donating to her campaign? I can understand voting for her, but why would you waste your hard earned money on someone who technically cannot win?

And please forget the rhetoric on supers going against the will of the people or the large state argument.. neither matter. The only thing that matters is the delegate count and the popular vote.

Oh yeah, the news is starting to come out that Obama actually got more delegates in Texas......oops, I guess that's kind of a false win for Hillary.

Jenny: I donated $40 bucks last month. The money is coming from people like me who are sick of the hate that currently drives politics. Obama 08!

CNN if you want to portray fairness .... what about giving equal airtime to the fact that Canadian Prime Minister (Mr. Harper) publicly confirmed that, the lie about Mr. Obama and NAFTA came from his aide Mr. Ian Brodie and he that it swayed the most recent votes and was unfair to Mr. Obama? By the way .... how did Mrs. Clinton camp get this information before the media? What connection does Ian Brodie have to the Clinton campaign?

Hillary has disgusted me so much that if Obama doesn't win, I will vote for McCain…
she will accomplished the same as hubby bill when he destroyed the party leading to gore's loss in 2000…and look what happened….
I will just help hillary's goals along and just vote for mccain….
she is an extremely evil, shallow, bitter, scorched earth socialist…..
she is (or should be) irrelevant in 2008 if we are turning over a new leaf in this country……
Do not underestimate how her blaming "activists", racial groups, pandering to others, telling bald-faced lies, distortions, exaggerations threaten to turn off the dem voters and independents energized and motivated by Obama….
I am one of thos Obamacans registered as republican until bush II, now maybe going back……at least mccain is conservative in policy….doesn't promote socialism…..isn't win at all costs, even tearing apart washington and our country, like hillary promises to do….

I just wanna add...that I am a proud "OBAMABOT" the difference between an "OBAMABOT" and a "HILLARYBOT" is when we talk about your candidate we state facts and the majority of you just go about believing everything you hear and see on t.v. waiting to hear something bad about Obama because the only way Hillary can win is by bringing him down...that was proven this past Tuesday.

Obama did what he needed to do which was prevent a HIllary blow out in states that were uphill battles from the start. He decreased her 20 point lead in one state to 10 and another to 3 and by the end of this month he will likely have netted more delegated than her.

    So who lost again?

Wow this is amazing looks like most Americans really are looking to close the chapter of old policies and politics. I haven't voted since the 2000 elections but I didmake a donation to Obama for $25.00. This was the first time I have ever dontated to any candidate in my entire life. I hope he wins the democratic nomination so we can take McCain out...
