Limbaugh said a ticket with Obama and Clinton doesn't have a prayer.
Limbaugh said a ticket with Obama and Clinton doesn't have a prayer.

(CNN) — Many Democrats have called the prospect of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama teaming up for the general election a "dream ticket."

But conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday a presidential ticket that included a "woman and a black" doesn't "have a prayer."

"Let's say it is Obama and Hillary…Let's put Hillary at the top — That's a position she's familiar with," Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday. "Therefore, you've got a woman and a black for the first time ever on the Democrat ticket. Ahem. They don't have a prayer."

Donna Brazile, Al Gores former presidential campaign manager, called the comments "un-American."

"I'm an American. And I'm proud to be an American," Brazile said on CNN's The Situation Room Wednesday. "But I think that comment is, as far as I can tell, a very un-American conversation, because African-Americans and women fight for this country. We have died for this country."

“To suggest, somehow or another, that we are not capable of serving this country in the capacity of Commander-in-Chief is just, in my mind, mind-boggling," she continued. "So, with all due respect to Mr. Limbaugh, just wait. Let the people decide. And I guarantee you, the people will make a better decision than Rush Limbaugh."

Limbaugh's comments came hours after Hillary Clinton said the Democratic presidential race could result in a joint ticket.

“That may be where this is headed,” she told CBS Wednesday morning. “But of course we have to decide who is on the top of ticket. I think the people of Ohio very clearly said that it should be me."

Obama later called any speculation of teaming up with Clinton "premature."

Why are we paying any attention at all to Rush?

Joan   March 6th, 2008 10:08 am ET

I doubt Obama will pick HRC.

Not after the smears, racism and fearmongering.

She had her chance, but blew it.

I think he should pick somebody else.

Chris   March 6th, 2008 10:08 am ET

Why is this guy still on the air? Who the h**l still listens to him?

Kevin   March 6th, 2008 10:09 am ET

Limbaugh managed to be racist and sexist in one simple comment. Gotta love those republicans, they are so creative it hurts….

Evan Mack   March 6th, 2008 10:10 am ET

Every day there is a new ticker item about Rush Limbaugh. Why is CNN reporting this as news? Is it to draw away viewers from FoxNews? Limbaugh has not been news worthy since……….ever!

Independent   March 6th, 2008 10:12 am ET

The real point is not whether they have a prayer but that Mr. Limbaugh needs our prayers.

anon   March 6th, 2008 10:14 am ET

it doesn't have a prayer of ever happening. Obama will get the nomination, and Clinto will NEVER be second fiddle, nor will Obama want someone stealing is limelight and upstaging him.

John, Raleigh, NC   March 6th, 2008 10:14 am ET

This is the dumbest post I have ever seen. Who cares what the blowhard says?

norb   March 6th, 2008 10:15 am ET

Is Rush back on the painkillers?

Travis   March 6th, 2008 10:18 am ET

I laughed out loud at this. Is Rush still alive? Guess what Rush? No one cares what you think. I am surprised CNN actually would even comment on what you say.

YAWN   March 6th, 2008 10:18 am ET

Why is this idiot on the Ticker again…he is about as relevant as Bob Dole…oh, right that was on CNN as well…really on the pulse guys…good work…

Camille   March 6th, 2008 10:19 am ET

Boy. Why is it just me or does it sound like the old boy is actually terrifed of that happening? Seems to me that he realizes that McCain wouldnt have a chance then.

Kaye   March 6th, 2008 10:20 am ET

Chris,

The people who listen to Rush Limbaugh are those who are too lazy to think for themselves. They confuse loud blustering with substance. It's just easier that way.

Angelina Julie Lexington Kentucky   March 6th, 2008 10:20 am ET

I've said it before, with approximately 41% of the US reported to be Democrats, 39% reported to be Republicans and about 20% Independents (who USUALLY vote Republican), why is everyone so certain this "dream ticket" will win? The math says it's pretty much a split. I think the Democrats are getting way ahead of themselves.

kelly WI   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

It would be a nightmare every one would want to wake up from.
Of course the spinners would say different.

Dave W   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

I am a Republican and I am becoming tired of Limbaugh's toxic rhetoric. He does not represent me nor many of my true Republican friends. Both Hillary and Barack would be honorable and formidable foes this Fall. If they teamed up together it would be very tough to beat them.
Maybe if McCain chose Lieberman as a running mate?

Terry   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot and he needs to focus on Republican issues. If he was that intelligent he would be running for president.

olga gardiner   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Rush Limbaugh should not be on the air. He is the most despectable person I ever heard. Who is he to comment on others. He should take care of his drug problems instead. That man is a very bad example. Please get rid of him. He is anti-american.
Olga Gardiner

Kevin, Evansville IN   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Well, Rush, maybe that's why you flunked out of college. The dream ticket is unlikely, but would win hands down. Largely due to the fact that the moron you put in office has destroyed the credibility of Republican party.

bridget   March 6th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I don't think Obama would ever be Clinton's vp, and after the smears she has put him through in this campaign, I doubt he would want her to be his. Since Clinton has been pushing the "skeletons" in Obama's closet, perhaps we should start bringing up the Peter Paul and fundaising scandals with China in hers.

Ray Rheaume   March 6th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I'm sure Condi Rice appreciates the sentiment.

The EPA should indite him for air-wave pollution.

George from Minneapolis   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Hey Rushie boy:

Its not a "dream ticket" if Hillary is on it. Barack would not lower himself to being Hillary's v.p nor would he want her as his v.p.

End of story.

Jacqueline Samms   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Rush Limbaugh should be ignored by the media. This drug addict should not get any air time. I wish he would just shut up!

Patty Don't   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Rush is just a small minded bigot. Honestly he can say whatever he wants, its his right as an American citizen. The only thing about it that actually scares me is that people agree with him or take him as having some sort of valid opinion. That's what is truly terrifying.

Tim in NY   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

IF it does happen I think we can expect another 4 years of Rupublican Government. I won't vote for any ticket with HRC on it and there are a lot of Independents like me who will join the Republican voters this Fall.

Jill   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

blah blah blah rush your opinion is worth nothing. i hope you are not calling yourself a christian these days because you are not even close. sexist and racist does not look good.

JB   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Limbaugh and the right wing broadcasters are showing themesleves for what they really are: pathetic human beings.

Race did play a major role in Ohio. 1 in 5 voters thought that race was important, The majority that saw race as a factor voted for Clinton.

The Clintons continue to bring race into the campaign: a staffer and "picturgate", the recent ad about Obama's subcomittee work made him look darker and more threatening, her response to the Muslim question. It goes on and on. They are trying to be subtle. But they have been brining race into the campaign since she lost in Iowa.

The Clintons will do and say anything to win. I thought they really believed their words about racial equality. I guess it fits everyone but them when they want to win an election.

NMM   March 6th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Par for the course. This guy is irrelevant.

BILL   March 6th, 2008 10:26 am ET

why is it un-american to say something that is blatantly obvious. We have yet to have anything but white males lead this country and then hypothetically thrown a black man and a woman (who is a Clinton nontheless) running togehter? I dont listen to Limbaugh and i think he's a toolbox but it's a no-brainer to realize that this drastic of a change would most likely not happen.

Diane D.   March 6th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Isn't it about time that you on CNN stopped reporting the drivel that Limbaugh spouts? Are you that hard up for news?

Joan Thomas - Utah   March 6th, 2008 10:27 am ET

Limbaugh can razzle/dazzle, confuse and give hope to his sheep-0 sycophants that the Dream Ticket does not appear on the ballot …

This man (Rush) is abvously UN-AMERICAN!!! The media should ban comments coming from this SEXIST/RACIST ignorant fool!!!!!!!!

MickyD10   March 6th, 2008 10:27 am ET

I listen to Rush sometimes. But only for entertainment purposes. I never pay any attention to his bull. And most people I know who listen to him do so for the same reason. It's amusing. The guy is a right wing wacko if there ever was one, a train wreck waiting to happen. And I can't wait to see him crash. It's like watching the diluded wanna be singers on American Idol. Painful to the ears, but funny to watch all the same.

Michigan Voter   March 6th, 2008 10:28 am ET

This, coming from a man who was addicted to pain killers and made racial comments while commentating on the NFL. Although I can't believe anyone would listen to this crazy man, you have to admit there were alot of Republicans that voted for Hillary this past Tuesday, simply because he said to do it.
Wake up people! This is our country we are talking about!!! Vote for the best candidate that will represent it. Obama 08

Bubba   March 6th, 2008 10:28 am ET

Rush saying something racist and unAmerican? Happens every five minutes, why are you wasting our time? He's a drug-addled moron who's never had a real job; I'd actually listen to Snoop Dogg before Rush. He's a relic of the old Twentieth who has little relevance today, much like his namesake rock band. Take off, hoser!

sensible Cape Coral Fl   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

I call him Rush "Limberg" after that cheese that smells like dirty diapers. It just so appropriate.

Sue   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Hillary is a very powerful Senator from New York.
She is respected and admired by the majority of citizens in NY.
(Being a border state, her actions have also positively influenced our N.E. Region of PA.
She is not going to give all that up to be the VP..
That would be a demotion.
So, the only way there is going to be a joint ticket, is if Hillary is the Presidential nominee.
Alot of Dems will vote for McCain, if Obama, is our candidate.
Do I want a wavering, inexperienced, charmer or the old warhorse?
I will take the war horse, McCain.
But experience, wisdom, common sense, intelligence, all make HIllary the better choice.
At least as VP Obama can do no harm, and may grow into being Presidential material.
Not Obama, not yet.
Go HIll !!!!

Maryland   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is becoming the Al Sharpton of the conservative party. Who died and made his opinion the end all. He is one man and frankly I'm tired of hearing his opinion.

Polanco from New Jersey   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Mr Rush I think you are having a problem with only thinking of such a ticket happening, so if I was you, you better stop dreaming or Mccain because Mccain is not going anywhere.
Thanks

PRAYER #1.

Limbaugh Lemming   March 6th, 2008 10:31 am ET

Limbaugh is a tool for the neocon-spricy. Most of what he says is just spin that "makes sense" but it's that last 5-10% of what he says really is a tool to get us to think the way that the neocons want us to.

I'm a recovering dittohead.

I used to listen to Rush all the time. But since I've stopped, I'm happy to say that I've recovered 12% percent of my normal brain function in a little over a month because I've started thinking for myself.

Paul C   March 6th, 2008 10:31 am ET

Do I detect fear emitting from that racist, sexist, intolerant, Oxycontin-induced stupor called Rush Limbaugh? He is a crime against humanity, let alone un-American. Please, does CNN have to give this guy more air time than he already has. Turn off the air. No, turn off the life support.

Nuwan Samaranayake   March 6th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a disgrace to the values of this nation. I wonder why any wise person would even listen to that sort of talk that lacks any moral judgement.

I am all for a woman president and a black white president. That would say this country has gone beyond the mental boundaries we have created in the past. That is good process. I am from Sri Lanka which elected first woman head of state in the world in 1970. I think this country is ready for that change now. The Rush Limbaugh's time of male dominace is over. The support around these two candidates is a good indication of that.

Nuwan from Houston, Texas

Old Rushie — trying the reverse psychology. Maybe the "Jeff Conway of Talk Radio" is a little afraid of the dream ticket so he's denigrating it. Let's be clear. If all the people who voted for HRC and OHB voted for the Democratic ticket, the GOP would be store for a good, old-fashioned butt-kicking.

So Rushie, take a chill pill–no, not another oxycotin–and wait to how the Dream Ticket destroys McCain in November.

Oh yeah, two more L's are coming on Saturday and Tuesday and there's still that 1M vote deficit to consider, or not consider depending on which side you're on.

Earl   March 6th, 2008 10:37 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot.

Bullshattuck   March 6th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Although I'm a democrat, I think it would be a brilliant move for John McCain to ask Condaleeza Rice to be his running mate.

Which begs the question - would Limbaugh have a problem with a candidate who is both african american AND a woman?

I'm guessing that because she's a Republican, he would suddenly change his tune…

Jose Card - Independent   March 6th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Obama/Hillary or Hillary/Obama has one big problem.
Either will need a running mate with proven executive experience in a governor. Also, there are too many that will vote for anybody but Hillary.

Although we have been daring in many firsts in the world, Americans are, in general, more conservative and less educated than our European friends. I am not surprised at Limbaugh's comment, especially during this period of time.

Offended Black Woman   March 6th, 2008 10:40 am ET

CNN, why are you religiously reporting Limbaugh's views? Every Tom, Dick and Harry with a talk show has an opinion and I don't see you reporting on those opinions. So why is Limbaugh getting the VIP treatment? Please, don't bombard us with this nonsense. Having his view appear on the ticker once is once too many times. Thank you.

Yankee Dog   March 6th, 2008 10:41 am ET

david   March 6th, 2008 10:42 am ET

the real question is why does CNN keep reporting on Rush??? i have seen more headlines about his irrelevant idiotic comments lately than I have of Anderson cooper. If Rush happens to find one of those flying pie charts they are likely to give him his own prime time show.

Sara   March 6th, 2008 10:43 am ET

It has been said before, Rush Limbaugh is the Jeff Conaway of right-wing radio and who the heck cares about what he says? Honestly, hasn't he already proven that his brain is the size of speck of sand? He's an idiot, and I, along with most of the American people, don't care to listen to idiots.

A Bag of Chips   March 6th, 2008 10:44 am ET

I don't think it will happen, especially now with all the sniping on both sides. Whoever heads the ticket will have to explain why they chose this person who you, only a few months ago, questioned their integrity.

That being said, I think from strickly a strategic point of view, the ticket will be hard to beat because Obama attracts the young and people who want change and Hilary attracts women and some of the old school Democrats.

Big Tex   March 6th, 2008 10:44 am ET

The smear campaign has gone both ways. I think Obama would gain more knowledge and be better prepared for the presidental position serving under Hilary as Vice President even if only for one term.
If he wins the election this term, I think he'll have to pay the piper as soon as he sits down in the oval office.

Trollmaster   March 6th, 2008 10:46 am ET

The guy running with the plan of destroying the US economy with a 100 year war with Iraq does not have a prayer. Rush needs to get a clue. He's so out of touch.

Rush has supported proven failed GOP policies that have hurt this nation big time. The only value his opinion has is we know what not to believe in.

Stay off the drugs RUSH, you are beginning to sound a lot like that Archie Bunker character!

Uncle Sam   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Although personally for John McCain, I believe that most Americans are proud of the fact that we have serious candidates from a diversity of backgrounds. It indicates that we are willing to consider presidential hopefuls regardless of their gender or race. Perhaps in the not too distant future, we will also select our president based less on party affiliation and more on the character of the person.

Julie   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

I also think that Roland Martin's comments last night that he would get Blacks to vote against Democrats if Hillary Clinton won as pretty Anti-American too. They were also pretty much race baiting. CNN has recently turned a corner as far as I can tell.

Obama is a great man. Hillary is a great woman. McCain is a hero with the wrong plan for America.

You guys that think Rush is a non-factor are kidding yourselves. Do a little research. The man has 13.5 million weekly listeners. Sure, his audience isn't the size of Oprah's, but it's definitely not too shabby. And he's on the air for three hours every single weekday. Like it or not, the guy has some serious pull.

JD, Pittsburgh, PA   March 6th, 2008 10:53 am ET

If a Clinton/Obama ticket actually materialized Rush knows it's a ticket that would guarantee the Democrats winning the general election. No doubt he feels the Republicans have a chance if they can beat up on one of the candidates; but both, no way.

Thomas, St. Petersburg, FL   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

In my view, John McCain should select Condi Rice or Colin Powell as his running mate.

Any fair minded person would agree that the credentials of Rice and Powell are far superior to those of Hillary and Obama.

Go, Johnny, go…

Robbie Flynn   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is one lost man. He doesnt want to admit that his party and the George Bush neo-cons are going to lose the White House. The Republicans are the ones that dont have a dream, prayer, or a fighting chance in this election, because of what they have brought to America, chaos and division. Its time for Limbaugh and the ultra-conservatives to go. Im a conservative Democrat, I'm conservative as hell, and I still think Limbaugh is an idiot. I like and listen to Michael Savage anyway…..

this guy is a far right nut, just as bad as a far left nut

Obamista NYC   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

To: CNN

One of your headings under the Political Ticker entitled, "Clinton leads Obama in Texas caucuses count" is wrong. Is someone asleep? In the summary, it reads that Obama is leading by 56%. Why don't you guys make a correction?

Are your moderators going to post this one?

Cable King Pittsburgh PA   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Maybe Rush could team up with a bath tub ring and run for a global plague position.

Tom   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

FLUSH RUSH!!!

The drugs he is on have killed too many brain cells for any rational thought.

Amy   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Rush must still be suffering from his drug-induced hearing loss, or he'd realize how ignorant he sounds….
As for Clinton's remark that she should be on top of the ticket due to the voters in Ohio, I would like to remind her that 24 other states chose Obama to be on top!

EH   March 6th, 2008 10:56 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a SCAT MUNCHER! He munches scat!

Dan   March 6th, 2008 10:56 am ET

He's the proof that not all republicans are racsist but all racsist vote republican. Go Hillary 08

vl   March 6th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Is Rush Limbaugh even relevant anymore? I think not….what a loser.

Sam   March 6th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Who is listen to Rush? May be Ann Coulter.

He knows that even republicans don't care any more of what he says. He was so ashamed and frustated when his buddy Mitt kicked out of the race and now he tries to make amendements with McCain. At the same time he is trying very hard to make himself relevant.

L. Tran, TX   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

If Hilary Clinton is not on the ticket (in either way), I think the Latino will vote for McCain or stay home. The Latino knew Clinton by name, not by the party.

Renee   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Mike
Did the memo say Bill Clinton was in Canada making a speech for a Canadian fund raiser this past weekend. ….Then Bingo a Canadian fiasco pops up
connect the dots

Steve   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Agreed. No prayer. Obama doesn't need Clinton. And yes, I am one of the many who will NOT vote for Clinton. If the Democratic ticket has Clinton on it, I will be forced to vote McCain.

NO MORE CLINTONS, NO MORE BUSHES.

Besides, Clinton is planning to challenge the constitution and nominate her husband as VP.

Katie   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I think its high time that the Republican Party and the news media REJECT AND DENOUNCE racist behavior from the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

Diggy   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

So funny to watch all of you lib morons get in a tizzy over comments taken out of context to make Rush look like a racist/sexist bigot.

If Rush is such an irrelevant idiot, why does he have the #1 show in America??

By the way, isn't Air America bankrupt??

Trev   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I am happy that this made the ticker. It gives us Democrats something to agree on during a rough campaign season. Rush sucks!

Hillary 08

Haley Rodman Clemson   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Limbaugh is still high on power after convincing Republicans to keep Hillary in the race. He is poking the hornet's nest trying to get liberals to pick sides. Hillary won't pick Barack and Barack would be a fool to pick her if he wins the party's nomination. Keep responding to Rush and he will keep making inflamatory comments. You are playing his game and he is laughing at you.

deidre   March 6th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Rush, take another pill and get back to us later.

Robbie Flynn   March 6th, 2008 11:01 am ET

sorry i posted twice, computer is in overdrive and I did something wrong. sorry!

norma schultz   March 6th, 2008 11:01 am ET

Maybe six years in a prison camp like McCain was in would help straighten Limbaugh out.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 11:01 am ET

We are fighting against terrorist war with the leader is OSAMA bin laden and saddam HUSSEIN.

So, do you guys think you want your next president to be is the unexperience, never been tested, but eloquent and skill in xerox?

Think about it

Everett Clifford   March 6th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Rush, leave it to him to talk trash , this is a veary exciteing time to say the lease, Hillery, and, Obama, have so much talent ,this fight will come down to the convention, its like the super bowl, then we have Rush who has the grace of a slime ball, talking trash,,, as marine vet lets send Rush to Afghanistan to live with Osama, they make a good pair

Tom in Houston   March 6th, 2008 11:02 am ET

Isn't this guy a psyco? Why do people pay any attention to a mad man? Rush's family should take him to a psychiatric hospital if they love him. That's where he belongs.

Capt. Obvious, Ames, Iowa   March 6th, 2008 11:03 am ET

You'd think he would have learned his lesson spouting off his mouth in the Missouri Senate race last time. Must be a slow learner.

Michael   March 6th, 2008 11:03 am ET

With all this talk about a Democratic "dream team," why isn't anyone talking about who the Republicans might have on their ticket with McCain?

BJE   March 6th, 2008 11:03 am ET

Isn't Jack Cafferty just a liberal Rush Limbaugh?

Andrew   March 6th, 2008 11:04 am ET

I value Rush's opinion about just as much as Howard Stern's. He is a back-woods honky-tonk, redneck in a suite with a microphone.

Tak   March 6th, 2008 11:04 am ET

Lately CNN has been telling us what's on Rush Limbaugh's mind quite a bit. Please stop peddling this discredited, racist liar's thoughtless comments. One more quote from Limbaugh on CNN and I'll never watch or read CNN.

Terry   March 6th, 2008 11:04 am ET

This type of commentary is destructive and shameful. Ever wonder why America seems to be going down the tubes at a rather rapid pace? The power of ranting right wing words and the power of hate on the airwaves are being used to undermine all of us!
Listen up, stand up and speak out for an America of inclusion, innovation and positive values…not this garbage.

William Day   March 6th, 2008 11:04 am ET

Who cares what Limbaugh says anyway! The man is a right wing attack dog, in it for strictly the money. I can't recall a single event when he has been credible with his comments. Why folks continue to listen to this dude is beyond me!

William Day
Richmnd, VA

jkerm   March 6th, 2008 11:05 am ET

What blatant raciest/sexist comments to make. Rush Limbaugh is a blight on the Republican face. When will people turn this bigot off?

Splendid Baker   March 6th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Another idiotic statement from Rush. Who really cares about what he says?

Tariq   March 6th, 2008 11:06 am ET

Jose Card - Independent   March 6th, 2008 11:06 am ET

In my humble opinion, CNN is more conservative than, say, Washington Post. This may be why CNN likes to report on what Rush Limbaugh had said all the time.

I wonder why Bob Greene doesn't write for CNN any more.
My comments to his postings were never posted, but he writes like no others… I miss his short interesting stories on seemingly uninteresting things. He has got the imagination and the pen for it.

Stacy Clarks, Texas   March 6th, 2008 11:07 am ET

Why is someone still letting this came spew his hate on national airtime?!?!?!

And it amazes my that Americans are so appalled at the bad rep that we have overseas…its because of bigotted idiots like Rush!

STOP THE HATE, VOTE OBAMA 08!!!!!

Taylor   March 6th, 2008 11:07 am ET

He's an idiot. If these two ran on the same ticket they would slaughter McCain.

Stephina   March 6th, 2008 11:07 am ET

That is a very racist and sexist comment. I would hope that the American people view each candidate on their merits and not by their skin color or their gender.

Paul, Tulsa OK   March 6th, 2008 11:07 am ET

Im surprised people are still paying attention to CNN which has been irrelevant for years.

While Rush is going that way too… he is more relevant than most democrats …

Mark Farrell   March 6th, 2008 11:08 am ET

One fine day soon mindless Republican mouth pieces such as Limbaugh will be gone, into limbo, to be joined by the likes of Coulter, Savage and a host of useless right wing hate mongers. Good riddance.

Matt   March 6th, 2008 11:08 am ET

John Edwards will be the running mate of whoever gets the nomination. I hate to say it, but the Dems need a white man on the ticket because there are just enough ignorant bigots out there who agree with Rush.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 11:08 am ET

I think people like Rush is the problem with this country now.
I don't care who you are he knocks them . I think Rush maybe back on his medications.
mike

Tarrant County Texas   March 6th, 2008 11:08 am ET

I'm no McCain supporter, but thank goodness that he's not a Limbaugh republican. I find it hard to believe that he and his other conservative talk show hosts believe the words that come out of their mouths. Antiquated 19th century cultural ideas have no place in today's society. Rush come join the 21st century America where hate and prejudice have not place.

Whatever   March 6th, 2008 11:09 am ET

CNN, this is just FYI, not a post.

Your previous article headline is "Clinton leads Obama in Texas caucuses count". The article then states that Obama leads in the count 56% to 44% with 40% reporting. You need to correct whichever is wrong.

Bruce Wayne   March 6th, 2008 11:09 am ET

Funny that Rush the viagra-popping, just got back from the Dominican Republic for unknown purposes doesn't give any reasoning behind his premise "they don't have a prayer" comment. Typical Republicant - make statements w/o facts. He knows McCrypt can't stop one of the top Democratic candidates, let alone both of them.

I for one can't wait to see McCan't get McPist and have a hissy about it.

jerry   March 6th, 2008 11:10 am ET

If I love myself Limbaugh and Hannity bump heads, the implosion would suck all the air out of the room…………..

Jimmy269   March 6th, 2008 11:10 am ET

You know what is funny? All you people who say that Rush is "irrelevant" and that "no one cares", but then you took the time to not only read what he had to say, but to respond to it as well. Doesn't sound too irrelevant to me!

Paul, Tulsa OK   March 6th, 2008 11:10 am ET

reality is if HC gets to be pres this country will suffer the problems that she will bring… that most democrats have brung us -pre-clintons.

Mark   March 6th, 2008 11:10 am ET

Why is CNN ever quoting this blow hard?

Mike   March 6th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Limbaugh should come out of the closet already and admit he's an "UNDERCOVER" democrat.

lisa   March 6th, 2008 11:11 am ET

I hope CNN Post this response since they will not post any of my comments when I disagree with the GOP. People wake up they are trying to split the Democratic party and the use people like Rush to do it. Rush needs to stop doing Crack. Oh yes he has money so crack is too cheap for him.

Scott   March 6th, 2008 11:11 am ET

Not my dream ticket!

At this point everything Senator Clinton says about Senator Obama sounds like an insult. And Senator Obama accepting such a position is tantamount to accepting these insults.

Rush you are not helping Hillary, you are being racism.

Darth Vadik, CA   March 6th, 2008 11:13 am ET

He's nothing but hot air anyway.

uchujin   March 6th, 2008 11:14 am ET

Any ticket with HRC on it loses.

Liz   March 6th, 2008 11:14 am ET

Rush is right…he's being real.

Racism, sexism and ageism are all over the media postings. It is a statement on the state of America.

We need black leaders that will denounce and reject black nationalism, white leaders that will denounce and reject white supremacy, and all leaders to denounce and reject ageism and sexism.

Linda   March 6th, 2008 11:15 am ET

How could be a "dream ticket", Obama has to face the ongoing scandal against Rezko. Obama's reputation has been tarnished. He is not an ideal partner for Hillary for VP spot. The Republicans will have a shot against him in the general election campaign.

I think Wesley Clark is good for VP position because of his military credentials competing against McCain.

George - Dallas Texas   March 6th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Sorry but did anyone hear that he called Barack "a black"?? A black what? Man, Senator…?? Who says stuff like this…..and why is this man allowed to voice this opinion to mainstream america?

" a black" ?? Every black/hispanic/asian republican should really look at how their party really feels about them.

All this mess was started by Hillary….."oh I have no reason to feel he is a muslim"….whatever….this crap makes me sick.

My God….and what's really bad is we have democrats who feel this way.

Nader is looking really good right about now…..

CUTIE   March 6th, 2008 11:15 am ET

Rush is behaving stupid

Betty Rubble   March 6th, 2008 11:16 am ET

LIMP_baugh….you're so irrelevant.!!

You need the viagra for your brain, NOT for that other organ.

Bill W - PA   March 6th, 2008 11:17 am ET

Limbaugh is right that the ticket would not have a chance, but not because "It's a black and a woman." With Clinton, it is not the fact that she's a woman. It's that she's Hillary Clinton, with all her baggage and scandals from the previous Clinton Administration. And for Obama, its unfortunate that there are a fair number of white Americans, especially in the South, who are racist and will not vote for a blackman, no matter how qualified. I think we really saw that from Texas.

That's Reality   March 6th, 2008 11:18 am ET

Oh they have a prayer; the question is who do they pray to? Obama says he is a Christian but calls parts of scripture "obscure" and suggests it is not relevent to todays issues. He supports legalized abortion which, by now, we should all know is the taking of innocent life, by choice, not during wartime - which IS sometimes inevitable but for the sake of saving more lives.

Barry Thompson   March 6th, 2008 11:19 am ET

Joan W   March 6th, 2008 11:20 am ET

my dream ticket:

Rush Limbaugh, George Bush, and Joe Lieberman, in a partially armored humvee north of fallujah . . . do you think they'd support armoring & withdrawing the troops then?

Chris, Middletown, CT   March 6th, 2008 11:20 am ET

If Obama is put up….he will win (I'm a Republican…and I support him)

If Hillary is anywhere near the ticket….Democrats will lose…and McCain will be the next president (HRC supporters….do you just "forgot" that she wanted to license illegal aliens….and really doesn't have anything more than a surgeons wife's "experience") - baffling

I believe Rush if...   March 6th, 2008 11:21 am ET

Hillary is on that ticket at all, it will be doomed. My dream ticket would be more like an Obama/Edwards, or Obama/Dodd.

Hillary is on that ticket at all, it will be doomed. My dream ticket would be more like an Obama/Edwards, or Obama/Dodd!

Sharon   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Why would Hillary ever want Obama to be her VP? She would never be able to trust him and the good old boys.

Cat   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Why does CNN constantly give us updates on what Rush Limbaugh is saying? Why not tell us what his alter ego, progressive radio host Ed Schultz, is saying? Obviously, Limbaugh isn't even that important to republicans. Otherwise McCain wouldn't be their nominee (since Rush hates him so much). C'mon, CNN, this is lame. Don't pander to the likes of Rush–or at the very least, even it up a little and tell us what Big Eddie has to say, too. CNN, you're only helping Rush in his dillusions that he is still relevant and important.

Rove's 3rd Chin   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I think Rush needs to focus on his own demons before demonizing others. Question is, how is this pedophile drug addict getting any ratings?

EFM   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Why does CNN even report this garbage? Why pay attention to every idiotic thing Rush says?

Michael Stack   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Limbaugh was not being un-American. He was comenting on how he does not think Obama and Clinton, together, are electable. They don't have the expereance, no one knows what Obama stands for and Clinton just isn't very bright. Limbaugh's comment also was to say that the southern democrats wouldnt vote for both a woman and a black man on the same ticket, not yet anyway.

Laura   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I feel that Rush should take n inner look at himself, and find out where all the anger is coming from.

An Army Veteran   March 6th, 2008 11:24 am ET

What an idiot.

Richard Hill   March 6th, 2008 11:24 am ET

What was even more appalling was the president of the RNC'S response, the same day. He attempted to give Rush cover by stating that things may have been taken out of context while at the same time admitting to listening to him on a daily basis. I would love to see Wolf have him back on air, let him listen to the whole thing and then get his response. How can the GOP EVER EXPECT TO ATTRACT MINORITIES to the party if they are going to condone behavior like this?

Neil White   March 6th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Isn't this guy a heroin addict?

John   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

Limbaugh is just another toilet mouth Republican demogogue. It is about time we Flush Limbaugh!

Elaine   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a racist and a chauvanist for saying that an African-American and a woman cannot be a wonderful ticket for America. This is the same person who called Obama a "Half-Rican" referring to him being biracial. If that is not a racist comment, I don't know what is. It sounds like Limbaugh is very scared of what the November election will bring. The conservatives need to sit down and shut up. This country is in a huge mess, and we have the Republican right wing to thank for that. Change is coming, Limbaugh, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Holden Litgo   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

How did Rush Limbaugh A) become a contributor to CNN. B) aquire any credibility whatsoever, and C) persuade CNN to pander so earnestly to the extreme wingnut/dittohead faction of their readership?

Jason   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

I agree with Bullshattuck

Imagine John McCain and Condi Rice VS Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. It would be guaranteed that a female and an african american get into office. I do not believe that the democrats would "unite against a common enemy" but it would be interesting if they did. Rush says the things he does to get people to talk about him. Talk bad about him all you want but he is getting what he wants.

Jed in Texas   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Nothing makes me happier than to hear the desperation in Rush Limburgers hatemongering speeches.Nothing he says or does will change history. If you want him off the air waves contact Clear Channel and tell them you will Boycott their sponsors. Its all about the money, you cut off their money and you cut him off the air.

I think it is unbelievable how much coverage CNN gives to Rush Limbaugh who is on his way out. He is a discredited has been and it is a pity that CNN gives him this coverage day after day.

Paul   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Why in the world is everybody giving this Rush Limbaugh so much air time and attention. The guy will say anything and everything to get attention. He talks trash about Hillary one day and the next urging voter to vote for her. He defense Mccain one day and the next urge conservatives to turn their backs to him. This guy is a joke….stop paying much attention to him! I'm a conservative and trust me! he does not speak for me or represent me in any way!

Lou   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Paula   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

I also adore Donna Brazile my fave on CNN too and Rush Limbaugh is a kook! Who cares what he says.. ..

He should wear his white sheet and shut his cocaine filled mouth! What a moroon!!

I pray Barack does not choose HRC when Jim WEBB, Joe Biden , Chris Dodd are all great choices.. after what Hillary has said and done.. . We are so tired of your rude mouth you are mean, bitter and power hungry..we have had that.. go away.

Wayne, Greenville TX   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Why are people listening to a "man" who took so much OxyContin that he lost his hearing? Was that a sign of good judgment???

Go back to your bunker in Florida, Rush. No one cares what you have to say. About anything.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 11:26 am ET

Let's Obama team up with John Kerry. One black guy and one looser together make Frenchfries and Ketchup.
They both deserve to be looser.

Rush who?????????? I think maybe he is still popping those pills!!! I think it's time he retires. The conservatives had little influence on the Republican nominee so I would say as a leader he is a failure!!!

elmerg   March 6th, 2008 11:27 am ET

Yep. CNN is scraping the bottom of the barrel to generate news.
Quoting Limpaugh in any serious context is like asking Ann Coulter for dating advice.

Why do you give this drug addict idiot the time of day? Every time you give him air time it enables him to curse this planet more with his darkside, Darth Vadar, Voldamort crap.

I know that ratings is your bottom line….but please give us a break.

Nelson, Colorado Springs Co   March 6th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Anonymous   March 6th, 2008 11:29 am ET

Ronald, American living abroad   March 6th, 2008 11:31 am ET

Sounds like Limbaugh is popping pills again . . . Clinton too if she thinks she is going to win without Limbaugh's help. Why is she hiding the fact that she is supplying Limbaugh with his pills through her close ties with the big drug companies?

Why is CNN hiding posts critical of Clinton?

Rush is Right   March 6th, 2008 11:31 am ET

Clinton/Obama is a dream team if you're snorting coke or smoking weed.

Clinton/Webb 08!!!!!!!!

If Clinton is not the nominee for the Democratic Party, this independent voter will vote for McCain; Obama is WEAK on National Security and worse than McCain in the economy. When it comes to economy, Hillary is the STRONGEST among the three, when it comes to national security McCain is the strongest, following behind him is Hillary.

IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!

m.m   March 6th, 2008 11:32 am ET

what he does not understand is that such a ticket would be 75% white and 25% black; such a ticket would be 50% male, and 50% female; such a ticket would be 50% young: such a ticket would be 50% non-continental American; On the contrary, what the republicans have is a white-haired 72-old man on top with a temper and war problem; it seems that the republicans need a prayer this time around; but rush is not that smart to see beneath the surface.

Cindy   March 6th, 2008 11:32 am ET

Dream ticket will be Hillary and Condi.

Wayne, Greenville TX   March 6th, 2008 11:33 am ET

Rush Limbaugh always calls himself "The Great American Truth Detector". Rather ironic, since he's never told the truth about the time he was fired from his radio job in Pittsburgh in the Early '70s (when he used the name "Jeff Christie").

In a nutshell, the station fired him after he was arrested in the company of a male prostitute in an area notorious as a gay pick-up site……

It's a Conspiracy!!   March 6th, 2008 11:36 am ET

Can CNN stop being the Clinton News Network!! It has an article RIGHT NOW entitled, "Clinton leads Obama in the Texas Caucus Count" How is that possible when he has a 56%-44% lead over HER!! Stop being Clinton lovers just because she shook you up a little last week by making comments!!

I know that this probably won't get posted, but you can at least make the correction and ackonwledge your horrendous mistake!!

newz4i   March 6th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Brazile said, "…African-Americans and women fight for this country. We have died for this country."

Rush cheated and ran from American with a pilonidal cyst.

James Chirico   March 6th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Obama may pick someone with military experience as veep, like Webb, Shinseki or Clark. His ideal mate is Gore, but probably will pick Richardson for his foreign policy chops and latino vote draw.

Tolu   March 6th, 2008 11:38 am ET

Why, pray tell, is Rush 'Blowhard' Limbaugh CNN worthy? The idiots that thrive on his every word already listen to him day in and day out in their barns, lumber yards, and tractor trailers, while chewing their tobacco and spitting in their spittoons, so they are properly informed. The rest of us, on the other hand, simply don't care about his opinions on ANYTHING. So please, kindly spare us his drivel. For heaven's sake.

Do people really listen to Rush? If so, people must really enjoy overly simplistic, straw man demolishing commentary from someone with very limited knowledge of the topics he speaks upon.

Rush is just upset the republican base has wised up and left the right wing for the waiting arms of Mcain and other reasonable conservatives.

As a woman I an appalled at the image Hillary Clinton is sending to woman all over the world we have come a long way living in abusive and unfaithful relationships. Hillary stayed what a signal to woman. Did she stay to pretend or is it because she had aspiration of becoming president. I am surprise the woman organizations in USA are not against her for staying in an abusive relationship.

Thanks

How mindless can anyone be to believe someone who believes his own listeners are so ignorant that they would swallow his lies when he "carries water" for Republicans who don't deserve it?

Good thing he's not bias or anything…

Bill   March 6th, 2008 11:46 am ET

God bless Rush and by the way he is correct…..Our country is still not ready for that ticket!

LT   March 6th, 2008 11:47 am ET

It's the pain medication talking. Limbaugh is clearly not in tune with reality if he thinks McCain would be able to beat a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket with the kind of voter turnouts the Democrats have had at the primaries.
