Limbaugh said a ticket with Obama and Clinton doesn't have a prayer.
Limbaugh said a ticket with Obama and Clinton doesn't have a prayer.

(CNN) - Many Democrats have called the prospect of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama teaming up for the general election a "dream ticket."

But conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday a presidential ticket that included a "woman and a black" doesn't "have a prayer."

"Let's say it is Obama and Hillary...Let's put Hillary at the top - That's a position she's familiar with," Limbaugh said on his radio show Thursday. "Therefore, you've got a woman and a black for the first time ever on the Democrat ticket. Ahem. They don't have a prayer."

Donna Brazile, Al Gores former presidential campaign manager, called the comments "un-American."

"I'm an American. And I'm proud to be an American," Brazile said on CNN's The Situation Room Wednesday. "But I think that comment is, as far as I can tell, a very un-American conversation, because African-Americans and women fight for this country. We have died for this country."

“To suggest, somehow or another, that we are not capable of serving this country in the capacity of Commander-in-Chief is just, in my mind, mind-boggling," she continued. "So, with all due respect to Mr. Limbaugh, just wait. Let the people decide. And I guarantee you, the people will make a better decision than Rush Limbaugh."

Limbaugh's comments came hours after Hillary Clinton said the Democratic presidential race could result in a joint ticket.

“That may be where this is headed,” she told CBS Wednesday morning. “But of course we have to decide who is on the top of ticket. I think the people of Ohio very clearly said that it should be me."

Obama later called any speculation of teaming up with Clinton "premature."

People in this country stopped listening to Rush and his pompous "conservative" lingo a long time ago. Face the facts Rush, we just do not care what you think!

golddan   March 6th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

I love it. Rush again proofs that he is a racist and to top it off, he is one of the most listened to and agreed with personsonalties of the republican party.

David Laranjeira   March 6th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh would be better served working for Joseph Goebbels than for the Republican party. This kind of backwards racist posturing is typical of the kind of system that will dissappear once Barack Obama or even Hillary Clinton is elected. I understand why Rush Limbaugh is so eager to rush us off into more wars considering he never had to fight in one. He got to stay home and chill while other men died. Why doesnt this spineless coward just retire from showbusiness, maybe he could build a time machine and go back to Berlin, 1936 where he belongs. They would hire him on the spot.

Reality check #1   March 6th, 2008 1:14 pm ET

Most Americans do not pay any attention to Rush, except for a good laugh. He needs to take his meds. Vote Hillary because it's the right thing to do and listen to Rush only if you have a gun stuck to your head.

dave meccariello   March 6th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

"a black" huh... A black... racism and sexism... so thats what the republican party is really about huh? repulsive

Mike   March 6th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Hillary blew it???? Whatever....She would never be on a ticket with Obama, particularly as his vice-president. She's far too intelligent for that. That cry-baby Obama needs to throw in his campaign shoes. He doesn't have the guts or intelligence to lead this country.

Saba   March 6th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Why all the attention to a windbag that does not matter anymore? Is CNN looking to replace Glenn Beck?

Tired of This   March 6th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

Don't do it Barack!!!!!!!!!Hillary chose to incite racism, fear and a dirty smear campaign. She doesn't deseve your support. Lucky for us, she CANT win without your support. Sorry Hill, you blew it!

William Blanks   March 6th, 2008 1:13 pm ET

With regards to the twenty-first century, it is appalling to hear that Rush Limbaugh and others like him believe that Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama doesn't have a prayer. I can attest that Rush Limbaugh does not speak for me or anyone for that matter. I am indeed praying for both candidates, because I think and feel they have what it takes to lead this country as Commander-in-Chief. I concur with Donna Brazille. Mr. Limbaughs comments are un-American! When are we as AMERICANS going to look past titles and labels?

K   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Why are we even giving this racist loser a platform to shout from, come on CNN your better than that.

Pepou   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Seriously. Obama will pick a VP who is young, energetic, honest and full of integrity. This disqualifies Hillary C.

Deb   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

For the record, I can't stomach Hillary Clinton either. But do I care what this pompous, obnoxious gas bag has to say about the Democratic ticket or anything else for that matter? Um... no!

Doofus   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Why is CNN quoting this sewer dweller? Who CARES what he thinks? He's nothing but a drug-addicted, right-wing hack shilling for the Rethuglican party. If you're going to use his comments as the basis of news stories, then you are obligated to do the same thing for the comments of, say, Rachel Maddow, Ed Schultz or other left-leaning radio commentators. Please, demonstrate some journalistic ethics.

Texas Jay   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Black People don't want to see Obama as HIllary's VP.

Sorry ladys.

Give it up.

Yttebetty   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

WHY does CNN give this nimrod Limbaugh any press coverage whatsoever????? Wake up CNN, this guy is an idiot, always was an idiot, and always will be an idiot. The only reason he ever grew to "prominence" was because the ultra conservatives, including the hypocritical Fox News, gave him the ability & power. I still keep hoping people will wake up and finally see Fox News for the slime bag network they are (espousing "conservative values" and then showing some of the worst trash on TV) and also hoping people will start to think for themselves instead of letting bigoted trouble makers like Limbaugh & O'Reilly tell them what to think.
Oh, and the "dream ticket".... ONLY if it's Clinton/Obama. I just can't support Barack yet. Once he learns to do more than just give a good speech, then maybe so. Right now, I'm afraid if Obama is the nominee then we can just go ahead and give the White House to McCain (and that's a little scary in itself).

Marsh   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Nothing that comes out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth surprises me. He is an irrelevant hard-core republican relic of the past. I suspect that Senator McCain will distance himself from Limbaugh's comments. In fairness though, you do have to consider that Rush was probably over-medicated at the time he made those statements.

LostFigs   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

Oh, jeezzzz.... Somebody get him a Valium or whatever he's taking these days. This is coming from the guy who made fun of Michael Fox for being shameful enough to have an uncurable disease?

Patrick   March 6th, 2008 1:12 pm ET

I myself have never really understood this to be a "dream ticket". Hillary would never be 2nd in anything because she is greedy and self centered. Obama we all know would not want to be in her shadow either. So I don't see this happening at all.

Jim Kansas   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Was going to comment, but as I thought about it, why bother, it would only made Rush think someone cares what he is saying.

301   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh is harmless. If CNN really wanted a reaction and more hits on their ticker, they'd start reporting about the thoughts and ideas coming out of the MIchael Savage show. Now there's a dangerous nutcase!

bryan   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

I take Rush's comments with the same weight as Paris Hilton. CNN please start to report the news and not for entertainment value. Thanks

Max   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

The guy is a racist and a moron; it's as simple as that. If both candidates are so unelectable then why are SO many people coming out and voting for them? If a 'black' is so unelectable in this political climate, then why has Obama attracted more donations, supporters and excitement than any candidate since Jack Kennedy? Mr. Limbaugh is an idiot who purely appeals to similar idiots in the far-right wing of the Republican party. His political knowledge is evidently lacking.

Kenneth   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Rush is the example of why I don't understand why we even have Replubicans. All of you who belong to the Republican party are actually tied to a nut like this. And isn't Rush a drugee? I have proof that he is actually really an unfair wimp after he told Republicans to vote for Hillary during the Texas primary. This proves how immature and nasty he is. Just think, we actually have folks in this country who like him.

Adam   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh is becoming the Al Sharpton of the conservative party.

And that is what will destory the party. A fool with a microphone. A junkie.

R   March 6th, 2008 1:11 pm ET

Limbaugh is fool, always has been a fool and will never be anything but a fool. His cronies are fools also.

Pepou   March 6th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

I have a great suggestion for Hillary. Take Limbaugh as your running mate.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

While his comments were a bit drastic, he does bring up a good point. Lets face it, there is still a lot of racism and sexism in America and an Obama/Clinton ticket would be doomed from the start.

I think everyone here is missing the point, including Donna Brazile. Rush did not say one thing about Hilary or Obama's ability to do the job because of their sex or race. It seems to me people on this forum are overracting and mis-interpreting his point. I believe, sadly, that in many cases, what Rush said is accurate.

I don't listen to Rush and really have never listed to him. However, people should look at what he said instead of jumping to hasty conclusions.

Brady   March 6th, 2008 1:10 pm ET

I love to hear all the bickering in these comments. If the Democratic party keeps it up, it'll just pull itself to pieces and nobody stands a chance. Why don't we all just get along, agree on a candidate, and get those nasty tax cutting conservatives out of office!

Beth   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Once Obama defeats both Hillary and the Republicans she tacitly accepts help from in the Democratic Party primary, he will smash McCain in November. The Republicans know this, EVERY RNC internal polling indicates that their turnout and resources will be substantially less against Obama than it would be if Hillary were the Democratic nominee. It should be noted that Republican governor Crist is calling for the Democratic delegates from Michigan and Florida to be seated at the convention.

The Conservative Party in Canada played down overtures from Hillary's camp wink winking about NAFTA and released a FALSE memo about Obama in time ti help the Republican effort to secure the vote for Hillary in Ohio. Obama has been completely exonerated, and their is an investigation of the Canadian government for tampering with American politics on behalf of the Republican party over the false memo.

America needs Obama, and the actions of Hillary in partnering with Republicans proves this.

Pistol Pete   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

According to the CNN report, Rush did not say Obama and Hillary were not capable. He said they didn't stand a chance. I interpret that to mean America is not ready to elect a woman and a black, both for the first time. As much as I hate to defend Rush, I tend to agree, I do not see American's being ready to elect both regardless of their capabilities.

John, St. Louis, MO   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

I'm sure that everyone posting a comment heard the remarks in context. Right? Just like Michelle Obama's comments about not being proud to be an American, or am I taking that out of context? Or Barak Obama's comments on cancelling NAFTA. Or HRC's comments about how she's being treated unfairly because she's a woman. Or Bill Clinton's comments about blacks in North Carolina.

I guess taking CNN's word for it is enough context for some. Talk about not wanting to think for yourself.

Julie Cade   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Giving Limbaugh any coverage just feeds the beast. Extinguish behavior by ignoring it.

Mark in Denver   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh? How irrelevant can you get? Hypocritical, chicken hawk, junkie. Hard to believe he still has an audience! Then again maybe it's not. Pitching racist or sexist statements to people so ignorant they don't even recognize it! This is entertainment?

Christian, Tampa FL   March 6th, 2008 1:09 pm ET

Despicable. But look at who we're talking about.

On the contrary, I think that the ticket would have a power and aura around it that would inherently give an advantage going into the general. The problem is that they might not get along too well in an administration. But maybe they can get over it for the sake of the American people.

RLG Virginia   March 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

To describe Mr. Limbaugh as a turd would be an insult to what I leave in the bowl each day following my morning constitutional.

Why exactly is anything that this lying, bigoted, hypocritical, drug-addled inbred says still considered "news?"

BigAce   March 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

I don't like Rush, but I agree 100%. Just look at the venom and hate on these boards between the Obama and Hillary supporters. Neither one wants to play second fiddle and Obama definitely won't want to serve with someone who has attacked and smeared him.

Then again its politics, and politics makes strange bedfellows.

Buddy, OR   March 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Have another Oxy you absolute horror of a human being. Reps like you make it hard for me to like even middle road Reps like McCain. I take joy in the fact that the best the Reps could do for a Pres nominee is man who made his bone in the senate working with and voting with Dems.
That is no way ment to be a knock on McCain. I admire his most of his ideas and his willingness to compromise.
A ticket with both Hillary and Obama, regardless who is on top would be historic and most likly produce a margin of victory for the record book.

Alan, Bonita Springs, FL   March 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Once again Rush Limbaugh proves he's an airheaded bigot. Dittoheads keep this in mind - you are proudly declaring yourself to be following someone who is completely out of touch with reality and reflects the REAL core values of the Republican party with every hate-filled word he spews out over the air.

I am amazed, after decrying ALL abusers of drugs as "addicts," then being caught with illegal drugs himself, that anyone takes one word this "man" says seriously.

John Indinapolis   March 6th, 2008 1:08 pm ET

Oh my god. For the first time in my life, I am truelly scared for my country. On the one hand we have the wife of a former president who manipulated and gamed her way all the way to the top and may really be our leader and nobody seems to see throgh her and now
a major publication, seems to care about what this big fat draft dodging blowhard thinks.

Michael David/Walla Walla, Wa   March 6th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh's comments are both sexist and racist, reflecting his own biogtry and the biogtry of the far-right, Republicans. Ho Hum, what else is new?

K in CT   March 6th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

The "dream" will be that, we the people, elect a President who will bring this nation back to the forefront of the World. We need to stop being "politically correct" and get down to the real business of straightning out ALL of our United States problems and really helping the people who are the Voters who elect the President. That is if the ( "media's ) will let US make the decision! I think we need an individual who is capable of multi-tasking. Not some ole geezer that just wants to get the glory and the $$. The road to the "here after" is not a glory road and all the long dead past presidents are just that. Dead. We need someone to stand up and shake the tree, and let things fall where they can be picked up and put in the proper place.

Bethany   March 6th, 2008 1:07 pm ET

There's nothing that the fat blowhard says that's even remotely newsworthy anymore. Why would anyone quote him? The next quote I want to hear from this drug addict is, "I quit."

Matthew Temple   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

I'm getting tired of reading the stupid comments of someone who is a bigot, sexist, racist, and a hippocrate on cnn.com. Come on, guys. America has thousands of equitable and intelligent people who can comment on such issues without being, well, simply un-American.

Nins   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

There is NO WAYthat I would accept Obama as the presidents and there is NO WAY I would accept him as the vice-president. I believe that Hillary Clinton knows more qualified people to be on her ticket for vice-president. I think Edwards would be a good choice.

Hill Girl   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

If you are a Rush Limbaugh fan, you take everything he says at face value. If you are not a Rush Limbaugh fan, you know that most of what he says is based on his own opinion and rarely on facts. I thought he told people to vote for Hillary to shake up the Democrats and extend the primary debate. Seems like he should be happy with a woman and a black man on the ticket if he thinks it will help McCain.

Sam   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Rush L. is good at making Taliban like comments. This is not an american thing. He can say whatever he wants but for him to comment this kind of idiocy is Talibanism.

Adios

Richard   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Obama and Hillary both have very positive characteristics regardless of what their neysayers have to say. Obama is energizing the base and youth in this country in a way that hasn't been seen in decades and Hillary DOES have the experience and know how to get things done in this broken system of government we have. I think the "Dream Ticket" could be perfect with Hillary on top. She can begin making the changes necessary to bring about substantial reform in washington while Obama continues to energize the citizens. In 8 years, Obama will have the tools and experience to complete the reform of washington. I supported Obama in the primary because I think in the end we need the change he is selling. I'm not so sure he can accomplish that change on his own and with the limited experience he has. The Dream Ticket could mean 16 years of democratic rule in the whitehouse. If hillary makes it 8 years we know obama will make it another 8. Go Clinton/Obama!!!!!!!!

John   March 6th, 2008 1:06 pm ET

Poor Rush. Throwing a tantrum because the outdated, antiquated brand of conservatism he's become rich off of endorsing is fading away. The people no longer support this failed ideology.

AKR, NYC, NY   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Yeah, like Democrats should really listen to this drugged out gasbag,.. CNN, why give importance to this hatemonger?

Mike   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Look, for the very last time, Obama's platform is "CHANGE". If he brings Hillary along, that is not "CHANGE". What do you not understand. Even my 5th grader understands this.

John   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Why would Hillary want him as her VP? She would need to keep her back to the wall when he's around her.And he doesn't want her ,because she is smarter than he can ever hope to be
No, the best hope for America is Hillary, she will change America for the better, and hope no one interferes, because YES SHE CAN.

Forest, Irvine, CA   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

What a pathetic bunch of posters. Feel better after all of the childish name calling? The only reason CNN or anyother newscast puts Rush's comments on the air is for ratings. The guy's got 20 million listeners each week and I bet a third of them are people who hate him. CNN should put on some of the ridiculous comments from the far left radio personalities next to Rush's and let's see who's more ridiculous.

Progressive Observer   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

I don't know how hearing a phone ring at 3 o'clock in the morning makes someone particularly qualified to answer it but the Clintons have several weeks to explain it. It will be great news for me because I get along very well with my doctor's husband of 15 years and it will be good to know he can jump in next time she's busy.

As for meeting foreign leaders and sitting on committee there was a whole field of Democratic candidates who could fit Clinton's experience in their wallet. That's not why you guys picked her. You're doing what we used to make fun of some Republicans for. You made a choice for one reason, you were comfortable with the name, you thought she had the best organization, you thought she could raise the most money -and now that all of that has been proven wrong instead of saying "Ok well you live you learn" some of you are tightening your grip. Why?

Hilary Clinton is not every wronged older woman. She is not a struggling housewife having her only chance to break even slip away. Clinton is an experienced politician who has used her spouse's connections and visiblity to get everything from a Directorship at Walmart to a seat in the US Senate.

If you want someone who will do anything and say anything to "win" then there is an argument to be made that Clinton is the best. Some would say you have this entire campaign including dragging us all into a civil war after losing twice as often as she won as proof of that. But if you want someone who agrees with most of her policy ideas, with some important distinctions and exceptions, but a candidate who has a completely different vision of how we should do poltics and the way we should interact with the rest of the world you may want to consider Barack Obama.

Steve in Florida   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

I,ve lived tgrough the last Clinton administration, and let me tell you, it wasn,t very pretty. I cannot beleive that so many american citizens do not recognize that the Clinton,s are in this race for themselves and do not give a hoot for the average american. Like Hillary stated so elloquantly recently, this country cannot affoed all my programs. Why don,t we beleive her? I do.

kitty   March 6th, 2008 1:05 pm ET

Rush is an idiot.

Brad   March 6th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

So I guess I am the only person who thinks it is odd that we only get one small part of the thought, but not the context in which it was used. If that was his entire thought on the matter then it might be suspicious, but I can almost guarantee it was not.

Oh, and by the way, I love all the comments on him being a worthless drug user (he DID have a problem with prescription drugs several years ago, but he ADMITTED this and got help for it). I guess that is the liberal way – character smears and not letting someone ever live down a mistake that they freely admit to and worked through.

Jared   March 6th, 2008 1:04 pm ET

Obama is the best man for to serve as our Commander-in-Chief, but he can pick another running mate, as far as I'm concerned.

We DON'T need any more Clinton's in the White House. If she needs a White House, she can call for an all-American submarine sandwich from the White House Sub Shop – at 3 o'clock in the morning.

Frank   March 6th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Limbaugh's comments and views represent what is wrong in America and does not come close to representing a true, traditional conservative philosophy.
He is a fascist, hatemongerer whose babbling should be tuned out for the good of our country.

Cliff Sharples   March 6th, 2008 1:02 pm ET

Andy   March 6th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Though I personally think Rush is probably racist, this particular comment was not actually inherently racist on his part, as much as him saying he thinks the country is too racist to elect the ticket. That being said, I think he is very wrong.

Anonymous   March 6th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Good old CNN taking a conservative voice out of context again. I heard the comments he wasn't refering to race and gender when he made the statement.

HE was refering to Clinton's percieved demeanor. 49% of Americans dislike her and the fact that Clinton has constantly put down Obama and that there will be a stigma attached to Obama because of Clinton's Attacks.
The hypocritical nature of people commenting on this site calling Limbaugh supports as Zombie's has been proven by the comments of previous posters.

Timmy   March 6th, 2008 1:01 pm ET

Apparently Rush is both sexist and racist. And a drug addict. No wonder he's the voice of the American South.

Jeff   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Rush Limbaugh says a lot of things. I don't understand why of everything he spouts, this one proclamation is worthy enough to warrant a blog entry.

Jake V   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

CNN is so scared of Limbaugh! Everyday I see a new article about his predictions. Funny, how they have all come true!

mike   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Hey all stop writing anti Hillary and Obama comments. Let's face it, we will never win in November if we dont come together. This is so exciting even for Republicans because for the first time we have a Great female candidate and a Great African American. That's the reason this is so exciting. So stop already with the negative comments about both candidates.

Jazz   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Hillary/Edwards '08 YES. That's a WINNER! It will add a few southern states to the big state possibilties. Edwards couldn't get the media's
attention...it was so unfair. TX polls showed only 9% of the vote was republican and the majority of it went to Obama (O'Reilly 3/5/08).

They laugh about voting to " screw up the dems" (a common practice in Chicago politics and it works) because they will vote McCain in November. Rush's comments are SAD but sorrowfully TRUE in many areas of the country. Real Democrats Don't Quit!!!

Greg P. Milwuakie, OR   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Unsafe at any volume.

Rush's product is divisive and corrosive. His methods dishonest and manipulative. If his show were a tangible item, it would be recalled under any number of conditions.

That people listen and give credence to his schtick is disturbing. How much more anti-America can one be than Rush?

Luvlyrita   March 6th, 2008 1:00 pm ET

Swallow another "pill" Rush. You might see things differently.
Remember?

So if the people of Ohio are the ones who get to choose the President, what does that say about the many other states and votes that have not chosen her? The great MAJORITY of Americans have not chosen Clinton. Is she saying that the will of the people does not matter? If she does not care about the will of the people now she will not care if she is chosen as President. However, anyone who isn’t severely deluded knows she will never be President.

Honestly, since when is Rush Limbaugh worthy of a news headline on a substantive political topic? I can forgive a lot of CNN's ventures into trivial matters, but trumpeting the words of a fringe figure like Limbaugh is deplorable.

Shawn   March 6th, 2008 12:59 pm ET

Stop reporting what that idiot has to say. The fact that you not only cover it as news, but place it in a prominent location on your main page is only going to encourage him. Leave his ignorant rantings alone. Fox can have him.

The thought of Hillary Clinton winning the democratic nomination makes my blood boil and my skin crawl. I literally feel like moving to the North Pole...I mean do we only have two Presidential gene pool in this country...BUSH CLINTON BUSH...a possibility of another CLINTON. I mean she keeps going on and on about experience..being married to a disgraced impeached President doesn't give you an iota of experience. Its like saying that just because my husband is a surgeon gives me the experience and the competency to go into the operating room..Lets think about this for a second..if it wasn't for Bill Clinton..do you really think that this woman will be in the Presidential running at all. Her husband basically did all the work for her and the thought of Bill Clinton in the White House again even as a husband is just an insult to this country.

Monte Petersen   March 6th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

If Obama and Clinton don't have a prayer as the dream team, then how come Obama won Vermont a mostly white State. Limbaugh is prejudicing people against the Republicans by such an ignorant statement. I as a Republican resent the supposition that Limbaugh is a Conservative. I believe him to be an attention seeking Talk Show Programmer, who does not represent Conservatism. He may be a closet Democrat!

Richard, San Francisco, CA   March 6th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

For the life of me, I cannot understand why this drug-addeled wingbag's every comment is deemed by CNN editors as newsworthy. Who in their right mind cares what Rush thinks. I for one have not heard or read anything thoughtful coming from him in years; he makes noise and you folks print it. With so much learned commentary coming from all sides of the political spectrum these days why is this?

Beth   March 6th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

Can someone tell me WHY we are listening to this guy? Does he think that he represents white men well? Does he really think that bigoted white men such as he would make better leaders for our country?

Steve   March 6th, 2008 12:58 pm ET

CNN took Rush's comments totally out of context. I just happened to listen to the show reported on in this piece and Rush's point was that a joint ticket does no have a prayer because neither candidate would accept being VP.

AB   March 6th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

I agree with Obama, it is too early. God is still Blessed and Thanks be to Him alone, who still say-–YES!! We Can.

Ulick Mabals   March 6th, 2008 12:57 pm ET

Wow! Did rush say anything about them fighting for the country or dying for the country or call them un-american? No he did not. Nice try Donna and cnn-way to spin what Rush said. He simply stated the facts as sad as they are-people for the most part don't like Hillary and Obama is(Well nobody really knows who he is) not ready to be the leader of the free world.

Margie in NY   March 6th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

To all my young brothers and sisters White/Black/Hispanic and others, white collar and blue collar voters out there!! Do not give up on Barack! He needs you. Energize his campaign even more!!! We all know that he has a few hills to climb, however, he can get over them, hang in there with him!!!

To all the older women White/Black/Hispanic an others out there...who are voting! Barack could be your grandson! Please don't give up on Barack! He needs you! Barack is a gentleman, that is why he has not been fighting back in this low-life, knock down drag down fight!! We know this will toughen him up!!

Don't give up on Barack! He needs you!

Barack, keep the faith, stay covered and Blessed!! We are with you!!

Why people listen to this hate-filled poor excuse for a human being is beyond me. You must be an idiot if you still support Bush.

Texas Jay   March 6th, 2008 12:56 pm ET

Colin Powell likes Barack a lot. So he won't run against him. I have a feeling that Ivy league graduates Rice and Obama like each other also.

IF THE DEMOCRATS TAKE THE POPULAR VOTE FROM OBAMA AND GIVE IT TO HILLARY (WHICH IS WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN AT THIS POINT IN ORDER FOR HILLARY TO WIN). OR IF THEY SEAT DELEGATES THAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT AT THE BEGINNING OF THE RACE.

THEN CONDO WILL RUN WITH MCCAIN AND REPUBLICANS WILL TRY TO APPEAL TO BLACK PEOPLE FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT.

THE DEMOCRATS IN THAT SITUATION WILL LOOSE THERE ONLY GARUNTEED BASE.

The democratic party should stop this now and nominate Obama or it will be hard for them to ever win another election from here on out without the only garunteed votes they ever had. Hillary is nice but just like women to break of everything if something doesn't go her way.

Yes I am black and i am mad at democrats at this point. I would love for republicans to build on what Bush started and to try to appeal to black people even more

REPUBLICANS ALWAYS HAVE A PLAN.

Democrats will have to restructure the whole party like a loosing sports francise if Hillary is GIVEN the nomination.

And the secret black republican ground game is in full sway.

Limbaugh and his fellow Republicans like to claim they would love for Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic candidate but I don't believe that for one minute. They think that, if they say that, people will reconsider voting for her. Both Clinton and Obama support ending the conflict in Iraq, engaging in diplomacy with the full force of International cooperation, reversing the economic damage done by this Administration's VooDoo Economic policies, and restoring the U.S. Constitution to its power over abusive government violations.

E. Vo   March 6th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Do we really respect what rush Linbaugh thinks or says? Mr. Linbaugh is like all other radio show host (used to be TV ....but we all got tired of looking at him....should be tired of listening to him on the radio.......I am certainly tired of having to read about him on the internet), they are self-promoting...operating under the false impression that they are a voice for a certain constituency and that what they have to say is seen as important by anyone. Thankfully, we have not heard from x-junkie Linbaugh for a while but the journalistic parasite has raised it's ugly head again now that the Hillary /Obama issue is looming large all for the purpose of coat-tailing in on the media coverage to try and justify his own media existence and his own sense of self importance. GO LAY DOWN RUSH!!!!.. TAKE A LOAD OFF.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Rush is just a blowhard windbag with a microphone and his only goal is to grab some more coattails attention on this campaign to boost ratings and therefore sell advertising on his show. Big deal. I do agree the so-called "dream ticket" is a horrible idea but not because of race or gender, only because if Hillary were in the top slot Barack's hands would be forever tied, and if Barack were in the top slot he would not need Hillary. I say Obama/Edwards is the way to go...

Craig   March 6th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Come on, how many of us agree with Rush.

The old Phrase turning over in our graves lol.

Look at how many close to the grave in Ohio came out to vote against a (is it ok to say "negro").

There are a lot of us who cant handle having blacks in other positions except ones we can control, sad but true.

The worm has turned we are noticing we almost have a black in the white house and we have to fix it (let the world and their expectations of us being open-minded go to HiLL).

Sorry folks but it's only 40 years since you could not eat in the same restaurant with us, and you want to have a president too ?

Bob   March 6th, 2008 12:55 pm ET

Peter Canada Obama 08   March 6th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

Oh My God! Why is the Democratic party acting like a kid?
A rule is a rule. To suggest that after spending time and money to decide on a rule and later bend the rule becuase they want to favour one candidate is just stupid.
It is a shame that these bosses can't stand behind their words..
Why even consider talking about Michigan and Florida primary when the states knew the law of the party a year and a half before the candidate even began campaigning for the nomination.

If the democrats can't able rule of law they are not fit to governthe country. Sorry to say that , but that is true. What makes government govern is rule of law, if not every citizen should oble government laws either.
Rush and the media have getten work they pray for. Lets prolong the democratic primary to make money for the media and for Rush cause problem for the Democrats .

Deomcrats should do the right thing, that is do with what you have now. There is a front runner for the nomination and they have to allow the people who have chosen him their right of the democrats nominee.
There can't be other way to judge this case, the people have chosen their party nomination. Non of these candidates will get the actual nnumber, so therefore democratic party leaders should use what they have at the moment and stop acting like babies. We need a realiable leaders not bunch of kids.

Kerry   March 6th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

Hillary doesn't even care about the Presidency. To her and Bill, as long as *they* get the keys to the White House again, that's all that matters. They can then push their selfish agenda for power, fame, and money, and Bill can do what he does best at 3am again.

Amy   March 6th, 2008 12:54 pm ET

To George from Minneapolis and others:

As a Democrat, I don't understand the negative comments about Hillary, or about Obama either. Both of them are great candidates, Obama much less experienced, but still a good candidate. We all better support WHOEVER is the Democratic nominee, or we will have John McCain as our President and continue the same agenda that President Bush has had for the last 8 years. The fighting should not be NOW, it should be with McCain in November!

Hey JB and anyone else who feels that race is an issue and being played by either side in the Democratic nomination process – African Americans are to blame for race being an issue. They are voting in most states at or near 90% for Barack Obama. And Oprah can't stand there and pretend that there has never been another candidate that she could support as she has Obama.

Women are not voting to that extreme, men aren't, hispanics aren't. So please, don't tell me who is and who isn't a racist.

Why in the world does the press keep quoting idiot Rush Limbaugh? His only claim to fame is his hero status for angry white men. What he says, does, or thinks is no matter because the American people are sick of his type of rhetoric and stupidity. Hillary and Obama scares all of those right-wing idiots to death. I hope and pray that Hillary and Obama to deam up and bring America back from its doldrums that the Republicans got us into.

Who is Rush Limbaugh anyway that such importance is placed on all that he comments. That CNN places his comments as important and as MAJOR news is beyond comprehension. You only fuel the man more and allow him to make even more negative and unAmerican comments. Conservative Radio Talk Show Host???? There is nothing CONSERVATIVE about this man. What he needs are manners. And shame on those people who agree with him.

I think his mother never washed out his mouth with soap.

James Byrd   March 6th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

If the fate of this country depends on the "noise" of Rush Limbaugh, then we all need to jump onto ships and head back to the land of our ancestors! On second thought, why don't we put Limbaugh on a boat and send him away! There are more shark infested waters in the Pacific Ocean so let's send him in that direction!

Irene, Clearwater, FL   March 6th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

Rush is a disgusting excuse for a human being.

In between his insulting sexual innuendo about Clinton and his borderline racist additude about Obama, I'm shocked his listeners haven't worn off their knuckles from dragging them on the floor for so long.

Julie-Albuquerque   March 6th, 2008 12:46 pm ET

democracynow2008   March 6th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Why should Obama team up with Clinton they are very different one is connected with the old guard of the Democrat Machine the other Senator Obama is not.People want Obama and Texas and Ohio wins for Hillary are a fluke.
Obama's support is very high around the Country and CNN needs to realize this.
The next 12 Primaries will be strong for Obama.
Its good people are looking more closely at Obama and in so doing will like what they hear and see.
Again noway that their will be an Obama/Clinton team.
I don't like Rush at all but this is true .
Their is to much of a split between progressive Democrats and the Moderate and Conservative wing which supports Senator Clinton it will never happen.

VOTE FOR GOODNESS AND HONESTY   March 6th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Limbaugh has made millions of dollars with his dumb
ideas and his lies. Now, who keeps him popular?
The Rupublicans. For all "the people" know, he may
be consorting with the Republican parties as to what
line he'll use for the day, to upset the Nation. He should
have been banned from Radio many years ago, but
then again he makes money for the Republicans. His
popularity is based on money. Anything for money.
Ditto for the above for ANN COULTER. Did Rush gain weight?
Or is that just his fat head.

zKen   March 6th, 2008 12:45 pm ET

Why did Donna Brazile say that Rush suggests that women and blacks can’t serve as the C-in-C? All He suggests is that an Obama/Clinton ticket would not get elected.

The person that reads such a generalization from a targeted comment is the one that suffers from racism/sexism.

Micah   March 6th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Rush did not mean it as a racial or sexist slur. Read between the lines people...and get the rest of the statement. People are scared of Clinton...so scared in fact that they would rather vote for McCain than her. Her far-left, socialist ideas are anything but American. Then you have Obama, with no major accomplishments, no patriotism, a wife who has been "ashamed" of America her entire adult life, and a pastor who praises radicals – calling 9/11 the "colored man's" revenge against America – and who is also very separatist. Obama also served on the board of an anti-Israel organization in, a group with ties to Islamic radicals. Not to mention, he's also pro-infanticide(killing an already born baby if he/she has severe defects) Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama....not the American ticket at all.

Rush is Right.

And to answer the question posed earlier... millions and millions tune into Rush everyday...I'm one of them.
I would like to hear the daily listeners of "Air America". I'm sure all 20 listeners love it.

Jim   March 6th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

I must admit I once listen to Rush a lot. Now I would not ever listen if that was the only show on the radio . He would put down anything that Dems. would say. I think someone has told him that he is begining considered as a VP possibility on the Rep. ticket. What a true joke that would be a true american hero and a drugged up radio talk show guy.

Jason Crittenden   March 6th, 2008 12:44 pm ET

Why does CNN and other news agencies continue to give Limbaugh a voice? Haven't we all learned that this guy has a screw loose and needs to be locked up somewhere?

Stop reporting on what this guy says. It makes CNN look like sensationalists and not a hard news agency.

Now get back on your approved meds before trashing young black drug addicts. After all, do as you say, not as you do. You The Man, Sir. You The Man.

Charlotte NC   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

JB and others who feel the same –
Open your eyes, Race has been playing an important part in this election.
It has been proven that the majority of African Americans are voting for Obama, period. And many say they will not vote in the general election if Hillary is the candidate. Look at the statistics. Its sickening. I personally know people voting for him based on his race, and even a crush. It's cult-like behavior and that's scary.

In addition, Obama has gone negative before. What a hypocrite. He acts like his negative flyers against Hillary didn't exist. Just like his handling of NAFTA. Say one thing, but mean another...
Obama is the person that will do anything to win.

I vote on who I think will best run the country and my vote is for Clinton or McCain.

Jeff from Jersey   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Why is Limbaugh even around?Isn't he just a wonderful role model for the Republican party and the neo-nazi conservative right. He couldn't even keep his predjudice to himself on Monday Night Football.

Obama would be the perfect Vice-President since they aren't allowed to actually do anything anyway and that's right up Obama's alley!

Mike Cobb, Palo Alto, CA   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

How is it that the opinion of an extremist polemicist warrants this kind of headline treatment? CNN is enabling one of the most negative influences in American politics, and thereby grant him strength and validity that he absolutely does not deserve.

Leslie, Annandale Virginia   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Rush is actually right (for once). I am a proud supporter of Sen. Obama, donated to his campaign and will continue to support him until he reaches to the WHITE HOUSE. However, I absolutely REFUSE to vote for him if Hillary will be on the ticket with him.

President- Obama
Vice- Edwards
Sec of State- Richardson

A F Accawi   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

I think he who said, “We can’t see the forest for the trees” was on to the Dao of things here in the USA. We are so busy watching the game being played by the Democratic Party’s two candidates—Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama—to see (or even to remember) that this is America where a woman, or a black man will not make it to the White House. NOT YET. So, what the Democrats will end up doing (by putting their best two feet forward) is handing the Presidency to a brittle moderate Republican. If it were not too painful to contemplate, it would be downright funny.

Fran D   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Rush is just as much of an idiot as Ralph Nader.

Pat   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Bob   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

Why do you print anything about what Rush Limbaugh says? He's an annoying radio host, that's all. HIs is not a candidate, and certainly does not speak for the vast majority of the people of this country. He's also an incredible hypocrite. By publishing his commentary, you give him far too much credibility. Ignore him.

Nathan   March 6th, 2008 12:43 pm ET

First off, it's Richardson. There's only one "S". Secondly, don't let his name fool you. He is half-Mexican and self-identifies as Hispanic. Knowing this, will you still vote for him or are Hispanics not as low as African-Americans on your ethnic stratosphere and able to hold elected office? Listen, the racists used to be Democrats, but I think they've pretty much all defected to the Republican side. You should join your brethren there.

I cannot understand how anyone can vote for Hilary. I respect her, her courage and ambition, yet people seem to forget all the scandals that have followed the Clintons since the days in Arkansas till the days in the Whitehouse. We need change. Even till this day there are so many questions...why is she not disclosing her tax records? People tend to forget that while she was a member of the Board at Wal-Mart...the Board refused to allow Unions. Yet Ohio, which is 99% Union, voted for her? Wake America, we need to read the facts. Obama represents change. He may not have the years of experience like Hilary, but we all need to realize that she has demonstrated in those years of experience what she cannot do, is keep her word and be trustworthy.

Way to go CNN! It's awesome how you feature racist and sexist remarks from some fat drug addict on your front page! Yay for Fox News Lite.

Patrick   March 6th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

I only hear Rush Limbaugh open is fat obnoxious month for a few months every FOUR YEARS. I don't understand why his comments and opinions mean so much to the media. The man is a train wreck. I'd rather him not get any media coverage.

Jeff   March 6th, 2008 12:38 pm ET

I seem to remember not too long ago that you libs/CNN declared conservatives and RUSH as irrelevant. Make up your mind. I didn't see any mention in the article of Rush's comments before and after the quote that would help explain his reason for saying. Typical smear by the lefties. But keep it up, it helps validate your looniness.

15 Minute Re-Up   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Talk about narcissistic. The only way Rush can stay relevant is to talk about relevant people. The guy is an idiot junky trying to increase ratings. Howard Stern has more content than he does.

Praetorian, Fort Myers   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

I do not think Mr. Limbaugh was trifling the qualifications or the ability of either candidate. He was merely characterizing his impressions of how the Democratic party–which is so striated on the issue of ethnicity, gender, minority status–that none of the major 'striations" would tolerate a woman or a black in the top spot–therefore the party vote would be split, therefore no majority, therefore the GOP would win again.

Smith   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

I get very dissapointed every time that idiot is quoted. Only an idiot can call americans who are not 'conservatives' -' enemies'. Every time you lend credence to such a looser you are promoting hate speech.

a

Morloc   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Strange that the same people who's candidates are running (at least in part) on a race or gender-based platform would consider Rush's comments "racist".

Unlike those who are voting to get the first woman, or first black person into the office, Mr. Limbaugh's analysis of the U.S. political climate is just that...an analysis or perhaps just an opinion. Either way, he's not suggesting that anyone not vote for this "dream ticket" because of gender or race, he's pointing out that a significant number of people will do so.

And why not?....if everyone is endorsing their candidates based on skin color or gender then heck, put me down for the white guy. Some folks really need to take that long hard look in the mirror.

LB   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

If ever you wanted to re-unite the Democratic Party, invite Rush Limbaugh out in public and just let him speak. Sheesh. What a 'tard.

Jonathan from VA   March 6th, 2008 12:37 pm ET

Option 1 for Hillary: A Clinton * Obama ticket would be extremely powerful. Clinton could offer Obama the VP position before the convention with the caveat that she would only serve one term. Depending on Obama's choice of VP, this has the potential of keeping the Democrats in the white house for not 8 years but 22 or more!

Option 2: Clinton could choose a running mate (Richardson) very soon and galvanize the party in a dramatic way.

Option 3: Obama needs big blue states desparately. She could bow out gracefully after winning Pennsylvania and compel Obama to offer her the VP position in order to seal big blue states. First female VP is still a milestone.

th   March 6th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

excuse me donna...not a word was said about being "incapable" of running the country...typical lib to latch onto a comment and push it to the forefront of the chip on your shoulder. and guys...who still listens to Rush??? come on...you know you love him!

Dick M   March 6th, 2008 12:36 pm ET

Why does CNN routinely report what Rush Limbaugh thinks? Is his opinion worth more any anybodl else's? I think not. His comments reported here are, as Donna Brazile says, "un-American". He's obviously afraid that a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket would win. Republicans need to be thrown ouf of DC wholesale, and the Dem dream ticet can do the job. Too bad they can fire Rush too.

Jo R, Buena Park, CA   March 6th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

Yeah! I guess Limbaugh would like a McCain/Bush ticket. republicans make me laugh at this 2008 elections.

sj   March 6th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

A well informed voter listens to both sides of a debate and then makes an objective decision. Leave the emotions out of it. Whether you like Rush or not is irrelevant. On a purely philosophical and strategic argument, the statement has merit. You don't have to respect the messenger to respect the message. CNN has Mr Limbaugh's comments because he has the largest audience in talk radio. As I said in the beginning, informed voters listen to both sides. I get information from both foxnews and cnn. Then based on my background, values, and experiences I can make an objective decision. Most of the arguments in this posting are attacking the person (Mr Limbaugh). This makes for a very weak argument and shows a certain lack of intelligence of those making such postings. Focus on the issue not the person making the argument. In the end you may have to agree to disagree, but not be disagreeable.

serah   March 6th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

The problem in America is the "excess freedom of speech" to a point where anyone can say what comes to his/her mind in an unethical manner. That comment by Rush can best fit the in the days when women had no right to vote/participate in politics and also African-American male were not allowed to vote. I feel if someone reads in between the lines of his speech can establish grounds for a lawsuit. His speech is unethical and may imply unfair treatment of women and African- American "Backs" as he termed them, in this country which is in a way advancing racism, discrimination and negative stereotype in America that is moving forward.

David, New Castle. PA   March 6th, 2008 12:35 pm ET

Who cares what that drug-addicted GASBAG Rush Limbaugh says about anything? All he does is to spew venom over good Americans who try to make a difference. I was struck with what a contrast there is between his lowly form of invective (and others of his ilk, i.e. Bill O'Reily) and the well-reasoned level of discourse of the recently deceased conservative William F. Buckley.

Sheila   March 6th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

If they kicked Don Imus off the air for making scurrilous remarks, why in God's name would the networks allow this moron to continue on air? And by the way, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama agreed, up front, not to have the Michigan and Florida votes seated because of the move-up in their primary dates. It is typical Clinton style to try, now that she is losing, to change the rules of the game mid-stream. What a disgusting ploy. Barack Obama is so far above the fray, and I'm surprised that people have closed their eyes to her dirty political tactics. How disgusting for all. Barack's the best candidate, by far!

Legal Shmegal   March 6th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Yes, Rush is a big fat idiot, who still has 20 million weekly listeners and manages to get under the skin of liberals everywhere. If he's so irrelevant then why do you pay so much attention to him?

In any case, why is what he said "un-American"? It's just political reality. Un-American would be Rush saying, "I don't think they should be allowed to run."

Besides, didn't you libs once loathe a certain committee that contained the word "un-American" and vowed that nothing of that sort should ever be said again?

wordslinger, chicago   March 6th, 2008 12:34 pm ET

Is Rush Limbaugh news? I'll tell you one thing - he wouldn't last a minute in a boxing ring with Hillary or Barack.

Hmm. First alienate African Americans from the conservative party and now women. Good move. It is amazing that conservatives still have a base. Now when most evangelical Christians finally wake up and realize that being a Christian is not JUST about anti-abortion or being anti-gay but also showing love to those in need this party will officially be over

Tim T.   March 6th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

Sounds like Rush is on pills again.

Aj D   March 6th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

Let's be real, the truth is that Rush speaks what is on the minds of a LOT of conservative Republicans. Now, most conservative Republicans have got the memo that you just can't say these racist and sexist things in public so they don't. But that doesn't mean that they don't, in their hearts, hold illusions of racial superiority. You can't say blatantly sexist things but that doesn't mean that they don't believe that a woman has no place sitting in the most important chair on the planet. They simply can't *say* that they believe these things. So there is Rush, the cathartic persona that gets to say the things that are on their minds and in their hearts. Why is anyone, anyone at all, surprised at this?

FELTON..."FROM AROUND THE WAY"   March 6th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

HEY RUSH.........YOUR MAMA !!

Modrun   March 6th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

Rush is one of the most hatred-filled man I have ever listened to. The mans mother is ashamed of him, he flunked college and he gets to be on the air and comment on matters that are beyond his intellectual capacity. Yet, in America, and ONLY in America, do you find 13 Mill. people listening to him daily and then CNN, being one of the largest and the most respected networks, bother to waste their time reporting him.

WHY CNN WHY?!

Sharon   March 6th, 2008 12:33 pm ET

I am sick and tired of African Americans saying the Clintons brought race into this campaign. In other words, you are saying the Clintons are racist? I would say that the fact that 87% of African Americans are voting for Barack Obama simply because he is Black. Now that is the BIGGEST sign of racism there is. Be careful of what you wish for. You obviously are not aware that he is for the very rich white folk.

Lawrence H   March 6th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Sharon Monrovia   March 6th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

I believe that reporting Mr. Limbaugh's comments are contributing to spreading hatred amongst this country. Why does CNN feel that it is important to filter hatred from an individual that is clearly racist? There is talk around the country to boycott news stations that continue to feed into these racist and ignorant remarks.

Djmt   March 6th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Once again Hilary Clinton shows her poor judgment, representing herself as somehow honest by using dishonest information.

Our right winged conservative Canadian government has launched a half hearted investigation into the source of these lies – they need not just look in the mirror. It's In in their best interest to have Hilary run since they know McCain will beat her.

Now the RCMP (our version of your FBI) is starting a probe into Steven Harpers government.

Once again... Hilary shows her poor judgment

gam   March 6th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

why would Bill Clinton appear on his show even if there was a guest host. It makes me suspect that the Clinton's would make a pack with the devil if it gets her the nomination.

T.O.   March 6th, 2008 12:32 pm ET

Noone wants the so called dream ticket but the republicans. It would be the democratic parties own self destruction. I wouldn't want Senator Barack Obama to pick Senator Hillary Clinton as his running mate because she undermines everything that he stands for and aspire to be. I would want to kick Senator Hillary Clinton's teeth in for even suggesting or better yet hinting at a dream ticket which she so tongue in cheek suggested with her newly resurrected campaign and a wink, wink. It won't take another Clinton to clean up another Bush's white house and it shouldn't take a strong person of color to hold up a weak last white hope of a political machine. It's time for change and the change needs to begin the hearts and minds of America...

What a clown!

Abe Schenck   March 6th, 2008 12:29 pm ET

Say again Rush, two candidates that together have overwhelmed almost every state's Primary and caucuses with record turnout doesn't stand a chance against a 72 year old whom your party faithfuls, yourself included, have turned their backs upon? Wake up Rush, it's only a matter of time.

brigman   March 6th, 2008 12:27 pm ET

What I find so funny is the hypocracy spewing from all those calling him a fat drug addict. How many of you are your perfect size? (doubtful, since most of this country is overweight). And how many of you have a weakness somewhere in your past? (I'd guess at least 90%). He was addicted to painkillers *how* many years ago?, and yet that's the first thing a liberal yells. Well, get over it already. Your supposed to be the party of change and acceptance. Riiiight. BS.

That's the status quo of the liberal. Point and laugh, but God forbid someone turns it around on you.
Example #1-
Dems can affect the GOP vote in Iowa and NH, and it's applauded. Republicans vote as Dems in TX and OH, and they're doing something wrong. Whatever. I could go on and on with the hypocracy of the left.

laura, CA   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Limbaugh is a sensationalist. He is exxagerating a well-known idiom in politcs.
I studied poli-sci and presidential politics, so drawing from that information I would have to say that yesterday, when Clinton mentioned the "dream ticket" possibility she was actually implying that Obama should drop out now and she'll consider him.
There's an underlying concept to this process whereby candidates can overstay their welcome and deal themselves out of the potential VP slot.
Neither Clinton or Obama can mathmatically win the nomination without the other dropping out OR without pulling the heavy hitters in so that the candidate can get votes in the 70-80% margins over their competitor. This makes both look bad for November politics.
I think it was:
1. Clever of her to mention it first.
2. Gracious of her to day she's not counting Obama out of consideration if he graciously exits.

Afterall, she's won all the large population states (CA, NY, TX*) and key toss-up states (FL, NV, OH). Obama can't seal the deal; he's doing well, but she's keeping pace while he scrambles to out-spend her and make her look bad.

W   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Limbaugh should focus on his own problems......like will he have job once the Dems take over, will he ever kick his drug habit and finally like everyone else here who cares about this JOKE of human being anyways!!!

Raul   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

The idiocy of this story and the comments following it is staggering. At no point did Rush ever suggest the two should not win beucasue they are black and female respectively. Re-read his quote. Predicting that the ticket will fail is not the least bit sexist or racist, its just his prediciton. Do we attack the weatherman if he tells us a hurricane is forming?

jerry rubin, Whitefish Bay, WI   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Where were the headlines that Clinton lost the delegate count in Texas. She won 2 seats in the primaries and lost 7 seats in the caucus. Therefore, there should have been a front page that HRC loses Texas by 5 delegates.

Brian Tampa, FL   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

Voting for them simply because they are black or a women is every bit as sexist/racist as not. Could you imagine the outcry if 85-95% of whites voted for McCain yet that is what happens with blacks and Obama and no one says a word. Many women openly support Hillary for the sole reason she is a women. The double standard is ridiculous.

ahna   March 6th, 2008 12:26 pm ET

I find it hard to believe that Hillary would want Obama or vise-versa. You can call it just politics all ya want but I don't think they trust one another enough to join forces....

Vic   March 6th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

Rush is such a bigot and woman hater. He should be taken off the air because of that. He is uneducated and a mouth piece for the Republican'ts. Either Hilary or Barack would mop the floor with McCain. Our country is so sick of this administration! And we are sick of their mouth pieces like Rush and Ann Coulter. We should think for ourselves and let no one do it for us..like the Republicans do.

Xavier, Washington, DC   March 6th, 2008 12:25 pm ET

As much as it pains me, I have to agree with Rush. There has to be a white guy on the ticket or else many of the rural white guys will flock to McCain. It sucks but unlike women and minorities, a significant number of white guys can't root for a team that doesn't have anyone who looks like them on it.

hey um guys,

Im not like a hardcore republican or anything, but how many of you actually listen to this guy. Im going to bet most of the information you get on him is very indirect. He is from my hometown and he is not racist or sexist at all. I know you think he is like this big conservative redneck, but he isnt. He does like irritating people though. He knows exactly how to push your buttons and it is hysterical. He was simply stating that he doesn't think americans would vote for them at this point not that he's racist and sexist. you guys should really think and do more research before you open your mouth and sound like such idiots. Plus, this article is blown waaaay out of proportion(as usual).

MattChester   March 6th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

Once again the gaseous windbad Limbaugh blows stench from his pie hole. Why can't this man get his brain into the 20th nevermind the 21st century?

Caroline   March 6th, 2008 12:24 pm ET

I don't think Obama would go for a ticket with him as VP, nor would Hillary go for a ticket where she's VP. After all this the dream ticket seems highly unlikely. However, it is for the reason I just mentioned, not because of Obama's race or Hillary's gender. In all honesty, I think the deviant duo would have a better chance of winning the general election if they teamed up considering the large number of people voting for either in the primaries based on those aspects of them alone.

Don M   March 6th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Rush's comments were silly and hollow but hardly racist or sexist. He was making an observation on America. If organizations like the NAACP are to be believed on the state of race relations in America, Rush is correct and is simply saying what those groups keep saying. People can't have it both ways. You can't say we have race problems and sex inequality yet criticize someone that says that simply because he is conservative. Hypocrites.

Mike NYC, NY   March 6th, 2008 12:23 pm ET

Obama would never choose Hillary as running mate, 50% of the country despises her (which is why she would lose badly to McCain).

Brian   March 6th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Its official Rush is a die hard sexist bigot racist. To suggest these comments shows what he himself feels deep inside. That a blackman or white women could never lead this country. To suggest this puts ideas subconsciously in the human mind that maybe this toolbox is right. CNN if you want to remain credible quit giving nut cases like Coulter and Rush your time. It is almost as ridiculous as ESPN reporting on Professional wrestlers. They are irrelevant and nobody with half a brain takes their comments seriously.

I also like how he suggested for republicans to vote for Hillary to drag on the Democratic nomination. What a sick and twisted way to manipulate and take advantage of freedoms that many countrys don't have

james   March 6th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Comment: I agree with your calculations wholeheartedly. I do believe that the only way now for the democratic party to avoid a split is to have both Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton. The problem is that Hillary has gone extremely too negative. I do believe Obama is a good person, but he is only human. This will make it hard for him to accept her on his ticket even being pressured by his party. With all that being said, i believe Hillary's camp understood for a while now that she wasn't going to win the nomination, so she went on attack before tuesday basically to show Obama that he would be wise to choose her to be his Vice-President. It was reported by Keith Olberman the night of the Texas primary that Obama had called Clinton during the day. I am willing to bet that the phone call was Obama basically telling her hewill put her on the ticket. This is why the day after the primary Hillary made her rounds on the talk shows and cable news shows and said that it is getting to the point where she and Obama will have to be on the "dream ticket". My prediction is that you will soon hear an announcement publicly as such. I repeat Hillary understands that because of Obama's delegate lead that she cannot catch him, so even if she won the nomination through superdelegates, she would lose the general election because of the backlash of Obama's supporters.

Josh   March 6th, 2008 12:21 pm ET

Charlotte   March 6th, 2008 12:20 pm ET

If a joint ticket were possible, I can't see Obama being on top of the ticket because people would go to Hillary instead of Obama. It's called cutting out the middleman. He looks to her for answers in the debates and that would carry over to the White House. He would have to find someone weaker then himself and I can't think of anyone. I wish we lived in a perfect world but we do not. This is going to be an election for the history books. Most young people have no idea what it was like to be a female in the sixties. Unless you were twice as intelligent and very beautiful, you did not stand a chance in the mens world. Affirmative action help women and minorities. It was more helpful to male minorities than women. Young girls today can study to be engineers, doctors, lawers anything they want to be. In my day that was not the case. My forte was space and mechanics, guess what, that field was not open to women at all. So, if you want to know why we support Hillary, think about how much she has done to help women and minorities fulfill their dreams. It is easy to dismiss the people who paved the way for the youth of today. Easy to say, so what, that was yesterday

Jonathan of Tampa, FL   March 6th, 2008 12:19 pm ET

Rush is a paranoid pill popping radio personality. He has some serious issues that he manipulates himself into defending. His ignorance is often perceived as clown like entertainment.

I will laugh so hard at Rush if either Obama or Clinton or both end up in the White House. That is TRULY Rush's Nightmare scenario.

Prayer Answered.

OMG!!! He reminds me of the "South Pacific" song – "Carefully Taught". I wonder who taught him to hate everybody?

Or maybe – like that failed politician – Rush was beat up by a(n African-American) girl?!

One difference between Democrats and Republicans is that the Dems – while disliking some speech – would not censor it.

Republicans, meanwhile, shout down anyone who disagrees with them. For all their talk about loving the Constitution, they are remarkably un-American when it comes to living up to it's values.

Gary   March 6th, 2008 12:18 pm ET

I have always listened to and greatly admired Russ Limbaugh – he is truly one of the great Americans in our history. But alas, I took an I Q teach and I my score began with a minus sign, followed by a decimal point. Oh well, I guess Russ taught me just too much......

Debby Tulsa OK.   March 6th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

When Hillary gets the nomination she will pick a vp and I don't think it will be Obama. She has to many better choices. Obama brings to much dirt with him and would cause the dem's to loose in the GE.

Houston Texas   March 6th, 2008 12:17 pm ET

Hillary is going to be under oath in a campaign finance fraud lawsuit over the summer. That means she won't be able to lie. That means she won't be able to campaign anymore.

Should be a great summer.

Anonymous   March 6th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

I'm a Republican and even I think these comments were out of line and just plain wrong. He's trying to discredit or discourage the idea because he is afraid of it. And he should be for good cause. They would crush McCain.

If only there were some way to get a Clinton / Obama / McCain ticket. That would be awesome.

There is. Clinton or Obama for president, the other for VP, ands nominate John McCain for Secretary of Defense.

Frank Lee   March 6th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Who cares what this bloated buffoon thinks?

Why does CNN or anyone else lend him any crediblity at all?

Tell ya what, Rush – let's see how influential you are come Nov. 5th, the day after the Dems have swept the House, Senate, and White House.

Meanwhile, YOUR pathetic Bush-ruined GOP is saddled with John McCain, whom the fringe right can't stand.

What a complete jerk..................

cert_ditto_head   March 6th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Did anyone actually listen to the broadcast where Rush made that comment? Does anyone know the context? In this quote, does he say that they don't have a prayer BECAUSE they are a woman and black?

NO!

If someone actually heard the comments, they might find that he was saying that they don't have a prayer because the people wouldn't elect them. NOT just because of their sex/ethnicity. He's crediting the racism/sexism of the people on their inability to be elected together.

Have any of you Rush-haters ever actually listened to his show? And more than just snippets? Sure, you may not agree with everything he says, but he is not the man whose image is being oainted by all of these out of context, mis-interpreted quotes that keep popping up.

John   March 6th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

First of all, Who the heck listens to Rush anymore...?
Second, The democrats have been getting nearly twice the voters out than the republicans.
Third, President George (Worse president ever..!) Bush gave McCain the kiss of death yesterday with his endorsement. McCain isn't smart enough to distance himself from this failed presidency.

"When it comes to Presidential elections, ONLY WHITE MALES MATTER MOST." And he repeated it.

Bill Kane   March 6th, 2008 12:16 pm ET

Why in the world does Rush Limbaugh's highly predictible opinion get "Headline" status? Good heavens, CNN, how about some consideration of news value and objectivity!

who needs grandfather mccain in there?

clinton/obama
obama/clinton

it is a dream ticket.
rush is just a closed-mined, conservative, right-wing fool who is just upset that 8 years of republican corruption are coming to an end.

yonas   March 6th, 2008 12:15 pm ET

Hey Rush,

You know what I love about you conservative talk radio host, most of you guys use the word CONSERVATIVE which to me just means a better way to say you are a coward and racisit. And you are so scared to loose a America. And I love it.

ariel   March 6th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

CNN should not repeat racsist remarks by Limbaugh .It's deeply irresponsible.

Ian C   March 6th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

Rush convinced the idiotic Texas republicans to vote for Hillary. So she barely won the Texas primary and her campaign is not left for dead. But she realizes that she needs Barack on the ticket because he has the black vote in his back pocket. Wouldn't it be great if Hillary and Barack ran on the same ticket and won! And all the crackpot racists and sexists would have Rush to thank for their worst nightmare - a white woman and and black man in the White House at the same time. Way to go Rush!

TJS   March 6th, 2008 12:14 pm ET

I hope there is no "dream ticket" I plan to vote for hillary to keep Obama away from the whitehouse. If this happens I will have to vote for McCain. It is getting down to absolutely nobody to vote for. Can we start over?

Miami   March 6th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

Rush's foot is always in his mouth. He has foot-in-mouth disease.

Nevertheless, I agree that the so-called "dream ticket" is a nightmare ticket for the Democrats.

If Hillary makes it, she needs someone from the South or West. I would prefer Bill Richardson, actually or John Edwards. Kennedy would not have won without Lyndon Johnson. The South is very, very important in Presidential elections. The Democrats always forget that and then they lose. Are there any Democrats left in Texas? That would be the place to find a running mate.

If Obama makes it, I say the same. He doesn't need a New Yorker, he needs someone from the South or West.

Jim, Carbondale, IL   March 6th, 2008 12:13 pm ET

How is anything Rush Limbaugh says a news story for CNN? Why are you doing the bidding of the right wing? Who cares what Limbaugh has to say about the Democratic primary process?

Carl Las Vegas Nevada   March 6th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

Tracy Landsberg   March 6th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

IMPORTANT!!! A CNN LET DOWN! After all we have done to support Sen Obama, I am appalled that CNN will make it seem that he is on the decline. It isn't true. Clinton had a minor victory by a small margin. They are reporting her victory like a landslide. It is wrong and may actually sway the election in the states to come. Please contact CNN immediately, post comments about it all over the Internet and let's get some balanced reporting from this huge news organization. They are destroying all of our hard work and damaging the image of Sen. Obama and this campaign. Please take a stand immediately! Here is what I sent to CNN...I will continue to post also. "CNN–You will probably not post this, but please take this to heart. I am a loyal CNN viewer. I have been watching CNN since Tuesday night non-stop, waiting for the balance to the story. It hasn't surfaced yet. Yes, we all know that Senator Obama lost Texas and Ohio, but he did not lose by much. Story after story have been talking about Hillary Clinton being back in the game and every chance you get you are reporting that Obama is on the decline. IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT THERE HAS BEEN PRESSURE ON CNN TO SUPPORT THE CLINTON CAMPAIGN. I appalled. I am not saying to make Obama the hero, but please represent the story in a fair and balanced way. Soon the Internet will be buzzing with this story. Please do not disinfranchise more than 50% of the democratic party with biased reporting. Thank you."

Mark   March 6th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

That's right! The dream is not to have Hillary anywhere near the ticket!
We do not want a repeat of the lack of transparency of their 8 years in office.

America – demand full disclosure of the tax returns and the Clinton White House papers. Curious minds want to know who might have funded their enormous personal wealth of $45+ million.

Don't earn that on a government salary!

Patrick   March 6th, 2008 12:12 pm ET

As someone voting for McCain I find this comment disgusting. They have just as much right and capability to be President as anyone else.

Again, this would be the best thing for the Democratic Party –to bring everyone together.

Heck, it could even be which ever candidate has the most –so hell if it's Obama President and Clinton VPresident –so be it.

But let's do this and get on with fighting Mccain.

Alex Mackin   March 6th, 2008 12:11 pm ET

The comment was that a black person and a woman would have no chance in a general election. He said nothing about their capabilities as President, just that America would not vote for them.

MikeSmith   March 6th, 2008 12:10 pm ET

Like it or not, this is how some of the Republicans are getting ready for Hillary. These people have been waiting for years to get back at the Clintons, and yet the Dems cannot see this!!

Hillary is NO match for the Republicans; she will be destroyed within the first 2 weeks, if she ever steals the nomination.

Obama, as a gentleman who respects women, is soft on Hillary. I see no Republican who is not willing to put on the glove to battle with Hillary. These people do not forget, and they are not as naive as some Dems are. So, do not ignore or underestimate Rush!!!

Jack   March 6th, 2008 12:09 pm ET

If there were to be a dream ticket with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, we'd have only Rush Limpdick to thank for turning out Hillary voters among Republican'ts in TX and OH.....

Rush contributed to the Democratic takeover of Congress in '06 by criticizing Michael J. Fox's "shaking", allowing Democrat Claire McCaskill, who sided with Michael J. Fox, to knock off the Missouri Republican Senator, giving Democrats a 1 seat majority in the Senate and control of Congress....

So thank you Rush! Keep it up!

Ben R.   March 6th, 2008 12:08 pm ET

Hillary would be a fool to put Obama on her ticket!! She is qualified and experienced, he is all talk–no action. Maybe if he actually showed up to his job in the senate i would feel otherwise. All throughout her campaign hillary has made a point of being there for her committee meetings-Barack has not! He does not want to work for this country, he wants to be the pied piper who is adores by the sheep that follow him

Hillary/Edwards 08'
Hillary/Richardsson 08'

Obama NEVER!

My family and I strongly believe that a "Dream Ticket" composed of
Hilary Clinton for President and Barak Obama for Vice President is
a winner. We did not choose Sen. Obama for president because we
feel very sincerely that after 8 years or two terms of Sen. Hilary Clinton
Sen. Obama will surely be very much ready to be president by then.
8 years from now he will be on his early 50's.

KSprad   March 6th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

Obama cannot select HRC as his running mate. She's been to negative in regards to his qualifications. She would be a liability on his ticket.

At this point, she can't even help campaign for him. I can't call you unqualified one day and ask someone to vote for you the next. At least Obama is saying he's MORE qualified, not that she's not qualified.

She closed the door on that opportunity.

Lou   March 6th, 2008 12:06 pm ET

Build them up thinking that "change" is possible with the smoke and mirrors of Barack Obama, but then it is business as usual when HIllary takes the ticket. And the dynasty continues.....Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton, ad infinitum....

JJ   March 6th, 2008 12:04 pm ET

See this is where the Dems screw themselvs, Why give any attention to this man at all and give him free media??

swede   March 6th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

As crazy as Rush is and he got plenty of it he does have a point this time.

In one poll 13% of americans said they are not willing to vote for a female president and 8% were not willing to vote for a black president.

That said I can't believe americans would want four more years of Bush politics that mccain is offering ?

Enrique   March 6th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Why is it that Clinton believes, just because she won Ohio, she should be the Democratic nominee? Further more fellow Americans, forget hope and change if we are not willing to take a CHANCE on something different. It is very obvious that the same political insight has not helped this country and McCain and Clinton are just that.

Lisa - NY   March 6th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Hillary 08!!!

No Obama... he is a liar!

S.B. Stein E.B. NJ   March 6th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

First, why does Mr. Limbaugh really matter on the Democrats' choice of a presidential ticket. As I recall, Limbaugh is a conservative-wanna-be and does these rants to stay in business. I do wonder when he is going to leave the country; as I recall he called for all drug addicts to be deported. If that is seen by his supporters as a personal issue, then why did they support Ken Starr's unnecessary investigation into personal conduct of Bill Clinton that had nothing to do with running the country?

I would hope that people realize that it is very unlikely that Obama or Clinton would have the other on the ticket. They are both too large a figure to be under the other one. If either one had a thought, they might consider the following: Bill Richardson, Gen. Clark, John Edwards just as examples.

Pat   March 6th, 2008 12:03 pm ET

Why is CNN giving Rush a forum to spew his personal views. Lets keep the coverage about facts. Go Hillary!

Eddie Sanz   March 6th, 2008 12:02 pm ET

One has to wonder what substance is Rush Limbaugh on when he makes these absurd commentaries.

Gino Loloya   March 6th, 2008 12:02 pm ET

Limbaugh should take a hike. No matter who is on the ticket and who is on the top, Republicans do not have a prayer in the coming election. I say this because gas is selling at $4 per gallon, oil companies have made record profits, and all of the welfare agencies are down to non-existance due no money. I am a Republican and bleed due to policies of this Government under Bush.

Scott   March 6th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Why does anyone care what a conservative talk show host has to say? Can you say "Super small percentage of the population cares!"? He gets too much air time as it is . . . shame on CNN for giving him more. This isn't news . .it's insanity!

Daisy   March 6th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

I only hope Hillary can be president. and anyone else but OBAMA can be Vice president

Obama??? Who cares? he should tell us the true story about Rezko?
What is he hiding? We are eager to hear the truth!

Hillary 2008!

hss   March 6th, 2008 12:01 pm ET

Notice how Hillary is the only one talking about this possibility, NOT Obama? That's because she's trying to lure Obama supporters over to her side on the reasoning that a vote for her would ostensibly be a vote for Obama. I doubt she has any real intention of having him as her running mate.

Jake   March 6th, 2008 12:00 pm ET

I am not a Rush fan, nor do I listen to what he has to say. But, I have to say that he is dead on. They will not win. And OBAMA is setting him self up for suicide. And I am sick an tired of all you dems always bashing our president. You are the morons. You dems never give credit, where credit is due. And it is due. MCCAIN 2008.... Oh, and that is a good idea about McCain picking Condi as his VP. That would surely be the dream ticket.

Micahel Guinn, Ventura, CA   March 6th, 2008 11:59 am ET

When you consider 8% of the votes in Texas were by Republicans voting for Clinton "because she would be easier to beat"- it's no wonder the Limbaugh Right continues to speak– he, unfortunately, is being successful. The Clinton campaign used to say "It's not about momentum – it's about Delegates." Now they are saying "It' not about the delegate count, it's about momentum"- The whatever it takes to win strategy of Wolfson and his other Clinton staffers is why the need for CHANGE is so apparent!

Matteo   March 6th, 2008 11:59 am ET

Politicians will say or do anything to be elected. Obama supporters seem to think that their candidate is different. Why is his campaign asking that the rules not change midstream - which is very reasonable - and then asking the superdelegates not to go against the will of the people? At the onset of the game, the superdelegates were told to vote for whomever they think is most worthy. I see this as a clear example of Obama saying or doing whatever it takes to win. I'm sure Obama supporters will see things differently, but this perception that he is above the fray is crazy.

As for Rush, if it weren't for my strong belief in freedom of speech, I would want him banned from radio for lowering the IQ of the American people.

Nowlin wells   March 6th, 2008 11:59 am ET

Unpatriotic   March 6th, 2008 11:59 am ET

It's very UNPATRIOTIC of Rush to be such a racist!!! It's pretty sad that he represents the right-wing conservatives. I would be very much of ashamed if I were a conservative. Racism and sexism at it's best from a conservative.

Laurie   March 6th, 2008 11:59 am ET

It will most definitely be a ticket with the both of them on it. The only argument now is who is at the top of the ticket. With the delegates split almost evenly there is no way that it won't be both. My bet is Clinton gets the top spot with Obama in VP.

Tracy   March 6th, 2008 11:58 am ET

Rush is the biggest loser in this country. He is the most racist, sexist, Un-American thing to happen to this country since Joe McCarthy!!

As for the "Dream Ticket"- I really hope the nominee is Obama and he chooses someone other than Hillary. I have yet to vote in an election where there wasn't a Clinton or Bush on the ballot. I think these two families have had their shot and it is time for a new face in the White House with new ideas.

Peter Canada Obama 08   March 6th, 2008 11:58 am ET

We need a realiable leaders who will make a solid decision not behaving group of kids.

big mike   March 6th, 2008 11:56 am ET

What fun it has been reading your posts! Your liberal anger is hysterical! Has anyone checked the context in which Rush said this before calling him names? (You mean, CNN woudl report something out of context? No, never.) And as much as I think Rush is arrogant and egotistical, he's almost always right on these predictions. Todd C., who quoted Al Franken, how did Al's radio show go? What it didn't last 20 years like Rush's has? But didn't Al have public funding? Guess even the government knows what draws listeners...and isn't that what media is all about?

Oh, learn to spell everyone...

And a big AMEN to RightyTighty...the Democrats are the ones keeping Racism and Sexism alive for political gain. If they don't have "victims" they don't have power.

Kevin H.   March 6th, 2008 11:54 am ET

What truly 'does not have a prayer' is Bimbo Limbo getting into heaven, or ever being considered sane by any thinking person. Fat Head Limbaugh really should MoveOn and read the second part of the Bible; you know the New Testament, that talks about 'love thy neighbor' and all that Christian stuff. Having said that, I hope Mr. Fat Head is right for once. I don't want to see such a 'dream ticket'. Sen. Clinton would only distort Obama's message, and bring the Republican crazies out of the woodwork in droves.

Josh   March 6th, 2008 11:54 am ET

Limbaugh hasn't expired yet? I thought he was about 400 lbs of Right Wing Hack Job in a cheap suit? Oh yeah, that was before the Oxycontin diet... Rush, please spare the radio world of your mindless drone and rush to the grave already....

Darko - New Orleans, LA   March 6th, 2008 11:53 am ET

THE TRUTH HURTS. That's why people don't like Rush. While his comments aren't how we want things to be. If you don't think his statements have any truth to them, you're seriously deluding yourself.

Regardless of the race and gender issues, it will never happen. Obama won't put someone as polarizing as hilliary on his ticket and is too proud to forget all and join hers.

Even if it did happen, McCain would run away with the independent voters. Why? Hill and Barak represent the far left of the party while McCain is on the moderate side of his.

Esteban   March 6th, 2008 11:53 am ET

Dear Democrat friends... this is the kind of garbage we are going to see in the fall... not only from this dummy but from all the extreme right wing... we'll beat them anyways.

jlb hallsville tx.   March 6th, 2008 11:52 am ET

How could Limbaugh talk about prayers. From listening to him rant and rave he should be praying the good Lord forgives him for being so mean. Stay with the GOP Rush you and your friends Bill Cunningham, Ann Couthar, Hannity and Dick Morris who makes even my 93 yer old mother sick we don't need your help. By the way conservative means staying the course liberal means being able to make CHANGES.

Lynn in NM   March 6th, 2008 11:51 am ET

OK, so Ohio said she sound be "on top". Let's see. How many other states said Barack should be on top? Oh, I forgot, they don't count. Hillary has already said that. Arrogance reigns supreme!

ben   March 6th, 2008 11:50 am ET

There are two voices I would like to see completely ignored
Hannity (fox news) He is one step ahead of a mongoloid idiot, well only a half step.
Rush Limbaugh. He would have been able to replace goebles in the nazi
party. Too bad he wasn't born in Germany.
It if frightening to think their voices could influence other idiots and actually twist the election away from the will of the majority

Bill, Streamwood, IL   March 6th, 2008 11:50 am ET

Gee, I thought that Rush was pro-Hillary and anti-McCain.

Maybe Limbaugh's flip-flop is the result of a medication issue. I wonder if Ann Koulter has changed her mind too?

It really doesn't make any difference in the long run, Senator McCain's victory in the primaries has rendered the conservatives irelevant to 2008 politics.

Dylan from CA   March 6th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Mike Tyson has more credibility than Rush Limbaugh.

HOWEVER, this supposed "Dream Ticket" is never going to happen because Obama would lower himself to allowing Hillary anywhere near his ticket after her fear and smear tactics.

Charles   March 6th, 2008 11:49 am ET

Rush is still on the air? I thought he left years ago.

Scott Hays   March 6th, 2008 11:48 am ET

God, what an idiot. Didn't he learn his lesson when he was on ESPN? What a joke. I think the best thing that we can do is ignore him.

Nice job, fat boy. Go pop some more pills.

Decline to State - San Francisco   March 6th, 2008 11:48 am ET

One more reason to end this primary sooner rather than later... I hate seeing Rush have so much fun slinging his crap around the airwaves.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia in CA   March 6th, 2008 11:47 am ET

Take another narcotic pain pill Rush and call CNN in the morning!!

Just CNN pandering for bloggers and controversy, but how low can you go with continuing on with Rush Limbaugh? This joke of a man thinks he can control who people vote for and steer the nomination.

Still For Hill

Hillary '08

Milton, Harrisburg, PA   March 6th, 2008 11:47 am ET

Ah, more sage words from a bigoted addict. Now I just need the advice of the KKK and a couple of wife beaters and I'll have a fully informed political opinion. Thanks Rush.

Carl P   March 6th, 2008 11:47 am ET

Most of the Hillary hate posts you see all over the place comes from this loud mouth's fan base. Shame on Republicans that fall for his big mouth. Rush does it because the more attention he draws to himself the more money he makes. It's scary how much hate is aimed at Hillary and Obama and for the life of me can't understand it. Just what in the heck has Hillary done to deserve such vicious attacks. Obama is just beginning to realize what vicious attackers are capable of. CNN encourages this type behavior because it brings money in. Hillary and McCain are used to this vicious political business and can withstand the attacks but Obama is an inncoient not used to being on the receiving end of this business. Obama will need all the strength he can come up with to keep from folding.

LT   March 6th, 2008 11:47 am ET

It's the pain medication talking. Limbaugh is clearly not in tune with reality if he thinks McCain would be able to beat a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket with the kind of voter turnouts the Democrats have had at the primaries.

Bill   March 6th, 2008 11:46 am ET

God bless Rush and by the way he is correct.....Our country is still not ready for that ticket!

Mike D   March 6th, 2008 11:45 am ET

Good thing he's not bias or anything...

Richard, FL   March 6th, 2008 11:45 am ET

How mindless can anyone be to believe someone who believes his own listeners are so ignorant that they would swallow his lies when he "carries water" for Republicans who don't deserve it?

ACSheilaA   March 6th, 2008 11:44 am ET

As a woman I an appalled at the image Hillary Clinton is sending to woman all over the world we have come a long way living in abusive and unfaithful relationships. Hillary stayed what a signal to woman. Did she stay to pretend or is it because she had aspiration of becoming president. I am surprise the woman organizations in USA are not against her for staying in an abusive relationship.

Thanks

Why, pray tell, is Rush 'Blowhard' Limbaugh CNN worthy? The idiots that thrive on his every word already listen to him day in and day out in their barns, lumber yards, and tractor trailers, while chewing their tobacco and spitting in their spittoons, so they are properly informed. The rest of us, on the other hand, simply don't care about his opinions on ANYTHING. So please, kindly spare us his drivel. For heaven's sake.

Can CNN stop being the Clinton News Network!! It has an article RIGHT NOW entitled, "Clinton leads Obama in the Texas Caucus Count" How is that possible when he has a 56%-44% lead over HER!! Stop being Clinton lovers just because she shook you up a little last week by making comments!!

I know that this probably won't get posted, but you can at least make the correction and ackonwledge your horrendous mistake!!

Wayne, Greenville TX   March 6th, 2008 11:33 am ET

Rush Limbaugh always calls himself "The Great American Truth Detector". Rather ironic, since he's never told the truth about the time he was fired from his radio job in Pittsburgh in the Early '70s (when he used the name "Jeff Christie").

In a nutshell, the station fired him after he was arrested in the company of a male prostitute in an area notorious as a gay pick-up site......

I bet he wears an American flag pin on his lapel to make it all better, huh?

what he does not understand is that such a ticket would be 75% white and 25% black; such a ticket would be 50% male, and 50% female; such a ticket would be 50% young: such a ticket would be 50% non-continental American; On the contrary, what the republicans have is a white-haired 72-old man on top with a temper and war problem; it seems that the republicans need a prayer this time around; but rush is not that smart to see beneath the surface.

Clinton/Webb 08!!!!!!!!

If Clinton is not the nominee for the Democratic Party, this independent voter will vote for McCain; Obama is WEAK on National Security and worse than McCain in the economy. When it comes to economy, Hillary is the STRONGEST among the three, when it comes to national security McCain is the strongest, following behind him is Hillary.

IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID!

Ronald, American living abroad   March 6th, 2008 11:31 am ET

Sounds like Limbaugh is popping pills again . . . Clinton too if she thinks she is going to win without Limbaugh's help. Why is she hiding the fact that she is supplying Limbaugh with his pills through her close ties with the big drug companies?

Why is CNN hiding posts critical of Clinton?

Anonymous   March 6th, 2008 11:29 am ET

This guy is a joke....stop paying much attention to him! I'm a conservative and trust me! he does not speak for me or represent me in any way!

Nothing makes me happier than to hear the desperation in Rush Limburgers hatemongering speeches.Nothing he says or does will change history. If you want him off the air waves contact Clear Channel and tell them you will Boycott their sponsors. Its all about the money, you cut off their money and you cut him off the air.

Jason   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

I agree with Bullshattuck

Imagine John McCain and Condi Rice VS Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. It would be guaranteed that a female and an african american get into office. I do not believe that the democrats would "unite against a common enemy" but it would be interesting if they did. Rush says the things he does to get people to talk about him. Talk bad about him all you want but he is getting what he wants.

Holden Litgo   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

How did Rush Limbaugh A) become a contributor to CNN. B) aquire any credibility whatsoever, and C) persuade CNN to pander so earnestly to the extreme wingnut/dittohead faction of their readership?

Elaine   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a racist and a chauvanist for saying that an African-American and a woman cannot be a wonderful ticket for America. This is the same person who called Obama a "Half-Rican" referring to him being biracial. If that is not a racist comment, I don't know what is. It sounds like Limbaugh is very scared of what the November election will bring. The conservatives need to sit down and shut up. This country is in a huge mess, and we have the Republican right wing to thank for that. Change is coming, Limbaugh, and there is nothing you can do about it.

John   March 6th, 2008 11:25 am ET

What was even more appalling was the president of the RNC'S response, the same day. He attempted to give Rush cover by stating that things may have been taken out of context while at the same time admitting to listening to him on a daily basis. I would love to see Wolf have him back on air, let him listen to the whole thing and then get his response. How can the GOP EVER EXPECT TO ATTRACT MINORITIES to the party if they are going to condone behavior like this?

An Army Veteran   March 6th, 2008 11:24 am ET

Michael Stack   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Limbaugh was not being un-American. He was comenting on how he does not think Obama and Clinton, together, are electable. They don't have the expereance, no one knows what Obama stands for and Clinton just isn't very bright. Limbaugh's comment also was to say that the southern democrats wouldnt vote for both a woman and a black man on the same ticket, not yet anyway.

EFM   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Why does CNN even report this garbage? Why pay attention to every idiotic thing Rush says?

Rove's 3rd Chin   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

I think Rush needs to focus on his own demons before demonizing others. Question is, how is this pedophile drug addict getting any ratings?

Cat   March 6th, 2008 11:23 am ET

Why does CNN constantly give us updates on what Rush Limbaugh is saying? Why not tell us what his alter ego, progressive radio host Ed Schultz, is saying? Obviously, Limbaugh isn't even that important to republicans. Otherwise McCain wouldn't be their nominee (since Rush hates him so much). C'mon, CNN, this is lame. Don't pander to the likes of Rush–or at the very least, even it up a little and tell us what Big Eddie has to say, too. CNN, you're only helping Rush in his dillusions that he is still relevant and important.

Oh they have a prayer; the question is who do they pray to? Obama says he is a Christian but calls parts of scripture "obscure" and suggests it is not relevent to todays issues. He supports legalized abortion which, by now, we should all know is the taking of innocent life, by choice, not during wartime – which IS sometimes inevitable but for the sake of saving more lives.

Bill W - PA   March 6th, 2008 11:17 am ET

Limbaugh is right that the ticket would not have a chance, but not because "It's a black and a woman." With Clinton, it is not the fact that she's a woman. It's that she's Hillary Clinton, with all her baggage and scandals from the previous Clinton Administration. And for Obama, its unfortunate that there are a fair number of white Americans, especially in the South, who are racist and will not vote for a blackman, no matter how qualified. I think we really saw that from Texas.

" a black" ?? Every black/hispanic/asian republican should really look at how their party really feels about them.

All this mess was started by Hillary....."oh I have no reason to feel he is a muslim"....whatever....this crap makes me sick.

My God....and what's really bad is we have democrats who feel this way.

Linda   March 6th, 2008 11:15 am ET

How could be a "dream ticket", Obama has to face the ongoing scandal against Rezko. Obama's reputation has been tarnished. He is not an ideal partner for Hillary for VP spot. The Republicans will have a shot against him in the general election campaign.

I think Wesley Clark is good for VP position because of his military credentials competing against McCain.

Liz   March 6th, 2008 11:14 am ET

Rush is right...he's being real.

Racism, sexism and ageism are all over the media postings. It is a statement on the state of America.

CNN, this is just FYI, not a post.

Your previous article headline is "Clinton leads Obama in Texas caucuses count". The article then states that Obama leads in the count 56% to 44% with 40% reporting. You need to correct whichever is wrong.

Tarrant County Texas   March 6th, 2008 11:08 am ET

I'm no McCain supporter, but thank goodness that he's not a Limbaugh republican. I find it hard to believe that he and his other conservative talk show hosts believe the words that come out of their mouths. Antiquated 19th century cultural ideas have no place in today's society. Rush come join the 21st century America where hate and prejudice have not place.

In my humble opinion, CNN is more conservative than, say, Washington Post. This may be why CNN likes to report on what Rush Limbaugh had said all the time.

I wonder why Bob Greene doesn't write for CNN any more.

deidre   March 6th, 2008 11:00 am ET

Rush, take another pill and get back to us later.

Haley Rodman Clemson   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

Limbaugh is still high on power after convincing Republicans to keep Hillary in the race. He is poking the hornet's nest trying to get liberals to pick sides. Hillary won't pick Barack and Barack would be a fool to pick her if he wins the party's nomination. Keep responding to Rush and he will keep making inflamatory comments. You are playing his game and he is laughing at you.

Trev   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I am happy that this made the ticker. It gives us Democrats something to agree on during a rough campaign season. Rush sucks!

Hillary 08

Diggy   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

So funny to watch all of you lib morons get in a tizzy over comments taken out of context to make Rush look like a racist/sexist bigot.

If Rush is such an irrelevant idiot, why does he have the #1 show in America??

By the way, isn't Air America bankrupt??

Katie   March 6th, 2008 10:59 am ET

I think its high time that the Republican Party and the news media REJECT AND DENOUNCE racist behavior from the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

Steve   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Agreed. No prayer. Obama doesn't need Clinton. And yes, I am one of the many who will NOT vote for Clinton. If the Democratic ticket has Clinton on it, I will be forced to vote McCain.

NO MORE CLINTONS, NO MORE BUSHES.

Besides, Clinton is planning to challenge the constitution and nominate her husband as VP.

Renee   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

Mike
Did the memo say Bill Clinton was in Canada making a speech for a Canadian fund raiser this past weekend. ....Then Bingo a Canadian fiasco pops up
connect the dots

L. Tran, TX   March 6th, 2008 10:58 am ET

If Hilary Clinton is not on the ticket (in either way), I think the Latino will vote for McCain or stay home. The Latino knew Clinton by name, not by the party.

Sam   March 6th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Who is listen to Rush? May be Ann Coulter.

He knows that even republicans don't care any more of what he says. He was so ashamed and frustated when his buddy Mitt kicked out of the race and now he tries to make amendements with McCain. At the same time he is trying very hard to make himself relevant.

vl   March 6th, 2008 10:57 am ET

Is Rush Limbaugh even relevant anymore? I think not....what a loser.

Dan   March 6th, 2008 10:56 am ET

He's the proof that not all republicans are racsist but all racsist vote republican. Go Hillary 08

EH   March 6th, 2008 10:56 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a SCAT MUNCHER! He munches scat!

Amy   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Rush must still be suffering from his drug-induced hearing loss, or he'd realize how ignorant he sounds....
As for Clinton's remark that she should be on top of the ticket due to the voters in Ohio, I would like to remind her that 24 other states chose Obama to be on top!

Tom   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

FLUSH RUSH!!!

The drugs he is on have killed too many brain cells for any rational thought.

Cable King Pittsburgh PA   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

Maybe Rush could team up with a bath tub ring and run for a global plague position.

Obamista NYC   March 6th, 2008 10:55 am ET

To: CNN

One of your headings under the Political Ticker entitled, "Clinton leads Obama in Texas caucuses count" is wrong. Is someone asleep? In the summary, it reads that Obama is leading by 56%. Why don't you guys make a correction?

Are your moderators going to post this one?

dimitri   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

this guy is a far right nut, just as bad as a far left nut

Robbie Flynn   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is one lost man. He doesnt want to admit that his party and the George Bush neo-cons are going to lose the White House. The Republicans are the ones that dont have a dream, prayer, or a fighting chance in this election, because of what they have brought to America, chaos and division. Its time for Limbaugh and the ultra-conservatives to go. Im a conservative Democrat, I'm conservative as hell, and I still think Limbaugh is an idiot. I like and listen to Michael Savage anyway.....

Thomas, St. Petersburg, FL   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

In my view, John McCain should select Condi Rice or Colin Powell as his running mate.

Any fair minded person would agree that the credentials of Rice and Powell are far superior to those of Hillary and Obama.

Go, Johnny, go...

Dave   March 6th, 2008 10:54 am ET

Limbaugh is a moron, but that doesn't change the fact that there are plenty of independents out there who would vote for Obama, but would stay home or vote for McCain if Hillary was on the ticket.

From PA   March 6th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Seems like Obama has a memo out-on to look for anything that can be twisted as racism for BO advantage..........this was reported in the news.........I think the MEDIA Should make a big deal of this....

THIS SHOWS THAT BO WOULD DO ANYTHING TO WIN!!

I want BO 2005 Tax return released!!!

BO is not a presidential or VP candidate.....I don't think he is a good senator in Illinois either.....I have doubts he would be re-elected in Illinois....than again politics is so corrupted in illinois.....he can a another helpful repeat!!

Someone...anyone.....abc, nbc, cnn.....anyone please do some real journalism and look into who Obama is.

Goodheart   March 6th, 2008 10:53 am ET

Rush is in love with Hillary. He's hiding it like he hid his drug habit. What was his comment about Hillary always being on top. The guy is out of his mind making comments like that.

JD, Pittsburgh, PA   March 6th, 2008 10:53 am ET

If a Clinton/Obama ticket actually materialized Rush knows it's a ticket that would guarantee the Democrats winning the general election. No doubt he feels the Republicans have a chance if they can beat up on one of the candidates; but both, no way.

TooBad   March 6th, 2008 10:51 am ET

You guys that think Rush is a non-factor are kidding yourselves. Do a little research. The man has 13.5 million weekly listeners. Sure, his audience isn't the size of Oprah's, but it's definitely not too shabby. And he's on the air for three hours every single weekday. Like it or not, the guy has some serious pull.

Grif   March 6th, 2008 10:51 am ET

Now I know why I have trouble with my comments!!!

Hillary winning the "Caucus"" Who's working the Blog????

Texas???????????????????

IndependentbyChoice   March 6th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Does anyone even listen to Rush Limbaugh besides the rural extreme right? The same extreme right that follows anyone blindly as long as they are white and have a talk radio show? Pretty pathetic way to try and grab media attention.... Just be glad he doesn't have a TV show....then you'd have to hear him and see him....

Jackie   March 6th, 2008 10:50 am ET

Go Donna.....Rush is and always has been UnAmerican. We have all come to expect this kind of crap from him.

I really appreciate your coverage of the race and your tempered opinions.

I also think that Roland Martin's comments last night that he would get Blacks to vote against Democrats if Hillary Clinton won as pretty Anti-American too. They were also pretty much race baiting. CNN has recently turned a corner as far as I can tell.

Obama is a great man. Hillary is a great woman. McCain is a hero with the wrong plan for America.

errata   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

please fix your 'clinton leads obama in texas caucuses' headline. it should read 'obama leads clinton...'

Brandon   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

News to CNN... Democratic voters couldn't care less what this blow hard thinks... Why are you even paying attention to him? This is the same conservative hipocryte that railed against drug addicts while he was stealing prescription drugs that he himself was addicted to?

Alex   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

I adore Donna Brazile!! She's my favorite on CNN!

Julie   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

I think its great to mention Rush's comment. It reminds Democrats that party unity is necessary to make sure we beat conservative kooks like him.

Keep it up Rush and we might get our dream ticket after all just to spite you and watch you implode when the win...

Uncle Sam   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Although personally for John McCain, I believe that most Americans are proud of the fact that we have serious candidates from a diversity of backgrounds. It indicates that we are willing to consider presidential hopefuls regardless of their gender or race. Perhaps in the not too distant future, we will also select our president based less on party affiliation and more on the character of the person.

CB   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

Rush is probably right, the "Archie Bunkers' of America" will no doubt rally, like they did in Ohio, to prevent "the Dream" from happening. It's amazing how Rush's comments has got people thinking in the negative. One minute he's a Clinton sleeper agent, then a agent of bigotry and next a loyal American. Stay off the drugs RUSH, you are beginning to sound a lot like that Archie Bunker character!

Vet in S.A.   March 6th, 2008 10:49 am ET

It wouldn't surprise me since Obama has always been a champion of bringing both sides together and defying old washington party politics.

Hillary is claiming what is not hers- that is her husbands experience.
Republicans vote for her because she has so much baggage she is easy to beatin november.
If she bullies evryone to give her the nomination, I will not vote or if I do, it will be for "Mcsame as Bush". scarry prospect.

Trollmaster   March 6th, 2008 10:46 am ET

The guy running with the plan of destroying the US economy with a 100 year war with Iraq does not have a prayer. Rush needs to get a clue. He's so out of touch.

Rush has supported proven failed GOP policies that have hurt this nation big time. The only value his opinion has is we know what not to believe in.

Verne   March 6th, 2008 10:45 am ET

The smear campaign has gone both ways. I think Obama would gain more knowledge and be better prepared for the presidental position serving under Hilary as Vice President even if only for one term.
If he wins the election this term, I think he'll have to pay the piper as soon as he sits down in the oval office.

TheLeftNut   March 6th, 2008 10:45 am ET

CNN keeps post Limbaugh stories because the poster called "Limbaugh Lemming" is frickin hillarious.

Dusacre   March 6th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Who cares?

Big Tex   March 6th, 2008 10:44 am ET

Once again, Rush proves the only thing he can "get up" is a stupid comment.

A Bag of Chips   March 6th, 2008 10:44 am ET

I don't think it will happen, especially now with all the sniping on both sides. Whoever heads the ticket will have to explain why they chose this person who you, only a few months ago, questioned their integrity.

That being said, I think from strickly a strategic point of view, the ticket will be hard to beat because Obama attracts the young and people who want change and Hilary attracts women and some of the old school Democrats.

Sara   March 6th, 2008 10:43 am ET

It has been said before, Rush Limbaugh is the Jeff Conaway of right-wing radio and who the heck cares about what he says? Honestly, hasn't he already proven that his brain is the size of speck of sand? He's an idiot, and I, along with most of the American people, don't care to listen to idiots.

david   March 6th, 2008 10:42 am ET

the real question is why does CNN keep reporting on Rush??? i have seen more headlines about his irrelevant idiotic comments lately than I have of Anderson cooper. If Rush happens to find one of those flying pie charts they are likely to give him his own prime time show.

Mike Birmingham, AL   March 6th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Did Rush say this before or after he snorted a few rails of Oxycontin?

Yankee Dog   March 6th, 2008 10:41 am ET

Why is CNN even bothering to mention this slime ball, pervert, druggie. What ever comes out of his fat mouth is complete bs and everyone knows it. I can't even read the quote without wanting to puke.

Offended Black Woman   March 6th, 2008 10:40 am ET

CNN, why are you religiously reporting Limbaugh's views? Every Tom, Dick and Harry with a talk show has an opinion and I don't see you reporting on those opinions. So why is Limbaugh getting the VIP treatment? Please, don't bombard us with this nonsense. Having his view appear on the ticker once is once too many times. Thank you.

Jose Card - Independent   March 6th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Obama/Hillary or Hillary/Obama has one big problem.
Either will need a running mate with proven executive experience in a governor. Also, there are too many that will vote for anybody but Hillary.

Although we have been daring in many firsts in the world, Americans are, in general, more conservative and less educated than our European friends. I am not surprised at Limbaugh's comment, especially during this period of time.

Bullshattuck   March 6th, 2008 10:39 am ET

Although I'm a democrat, I think it would be a brilliant move for John McCain to ask Condaleeza Rice to be his running mate.

Which begs the question – would Limbaugh have a problem with a candidate who is both african american AND a woman?

I'm guessing that because she's a Republican, he would suddenly change his tune...

Todd C.   March 6th, 2008 10:38 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot.

Earl   March 6th, 2008 10:37 am ET

If you don't like comment boards about Rush, then don't post on them. CNN will keep citing him as long as it solicits a response.

Gregory   March 6th, 2008 10:36 am ET

I guess the other 27 states she lost don't count huh? How do you claim momemtum when you've lost 12 out of 15 primaries, and you're loosing the TX caucus? Oh yeah, two more L's are coming on Saturday and Tuesday and there's still that 1M vote deficit to consider, or not consider depending on which side you're on.

larry   March 6th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Obama will not lower himself to be on the ticket with that scumbag.

OhioVoter   March 6th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Old Rushie - trying the reverse psychology. Maybe the "Jeff Conway of Talk Radio" is a little afraid of the dream ticket so he's denigrating it. Let's be clear. If all the people who voted for HRC and OHB voted for the Democratic ticket, the GOP would be store for a good, old-fashioned butt-kicking.

So Rushie, take a chill pill–no, not another oxycotin–and wait to how the Dream Ticket destroys McCain in November.

Vince - Phoenix   March 6th, 2008 10:35 am ET

Julie from MD   March 6th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Nuwan Samaranayake   March 6th, 2008 10:33 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is a disgrace to the values of this nation. I wonder why any wise person would even listen to that sort of talk that lacks any moral judgement.

I am all for a woman president and a black white president. That would say this country has gone beyond the mental boundaries we have created in the past. That is good process. I am from Sri Lanka which elected first woman head of state in the world in 1970. I think this country is ready for that change now. The Rush Limbaugh's time of male dominace is over. The support around these two candidates is a good indication of that.

Nuwan from Houston, Texas

Roger Richard   March 6th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Do I detect fear emitting from that racist, sexist, intolerant, Oxycontin-induced stupor called Rush Limbaugh? He is a crime against humanity, let alone un-American. Please, does CNN have to give this guy more air time than he already has. Turn off the air. No, turn off the life support.

RightyTighty   March 6th, 2008 10:32 am ET

Race and gender. The two 800 lb gorillas tearing apart the dem party while the "tolerant" are trying to ignore their existance. It just keeps getting better all the time.

As a supporter of the Bush fiasco I find it incredible that anyone would give him the time of day.

Limbaugh Lemming   March 6th, 2008 10:31 am ET

Limbaugh is a tool for the neocon-spricy. Most of what he says is just spin that "makes sense" but it's that last 5-10% of what he says really is a tool to get us to think the way that the neocons want us to.

I'm a recovering dittohead.

I used to listen to Rush all the time. But since I've stopped, I'm happy to say that I've recovered 12% percent of my normal brain function in a little over a month because I've started thinking for myself.

Thanks

Rush Limbaugh is becoming the Al Sharpton of the conservative party. Who died and made his opinion the end all. He is one man and frankly I'm tired of hearing his opinion.

Sue   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Hillary is a very powerful Senator from New York.
She is respected and admired by the majority of citizens in NY.
(Being a border state, her actions have also positively influenced our N.E. Region of PA.
She is not going to give all that up to be the VP..
That would be a demotion.
So, the only way there is going to be a joint ticket, is if Hillary is the Presidential nominee.
Alot of Dems will vote for McCain, if Obama, is our candidate.
Do I want a wavering, inexperienced, charmer or the old warhorse?
I will take the war horse, McCain.
But experience, wisdom, common sense, intelligence, all make HIllary the better choice.
At least as VP Obama can do no harm, and may grow into being Presidential material.
Not Obama, not yet.
Go HIll !!!!

sensible Cape Coral Fl   March 6th, 2008 10:30 am ET

Bubba   March 6th, 2008 10:28 am ET

Rush saying something racist and unAmerican? Happens every five minutes, why are you wasting our time? He's a drug-addled moron who's never had a real job; I'd actually listen to Snoop Dogg before Rush. He's a relic of the old Twentieth who has little relevance today, much like his namesake rock band. Take off, hoser!

Michigan Voter   March 6th, 2008 10:28 am ET

This, coming from a man who was addicted to pain killers and made racial comments while commentating on the NFL. Although I can't believe anyone would listen to this crazy man, you have to admit there were alot of Republicans that voted for Hillary this past Tuesday, simply because he said to do it.
Wake up people! This is our country we are talking about!!! Vote for the best candidate that will represent it. Obama 08

MickyD10   March 6th, 2008 10:27 am ET

I listen to Rush sometimes. But only for entertainment purposes. I never pay any attention to his bull. And most people I know who listen to him do so for the same reason. It's amusing. The guy is a right wing wacko if there ever was one, a train wreck waiting to happen. And I can't wait to see him crash. It's like watching the diluded wanna be singers on American Idol. Painful to the ears, but funny to watch all the same.

For Obama   March 6th, 2008 10:27 am ET

BILL   March 6th, 2008 10:26 am ET

why is it un-american to say something that is blatantly obvious. We have yet to have anything but white males lead this country and then hypothetically thrown a black man and a woman (who is a Clinton nontheless) running togehter? I dont listen to Limbaugh and i think he's a toolbox but it's a no-brainer to realize that this drastic of a change would most likely not happen.

NMM   March 6th, 2008 10:26 am ET

Par for the course. This guy is irrelevant.

JB   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Limbaugh and the right wing broadcasters are showing themesleves for what they really are: pathetic human beings.

Race did play a major role in Ohio. 1 in 5 voters thought that race was important, The majority that saw race as a factor voted for Clinton.

The Clintons continue to bring race into the campaign: a staffer and "picturgate", the recent ad about Obama's subcomittee work made him look darker and more threatening, her response to the Muslim question. It goes on and on. They are trying to be subtle. But they have been brining race into the campaign since she lost in Iowa.

The Clintons will do and say anything to win. I thought they really believed their words about racial equality. I guess it fits everyone but them when they want to win an election.

Jill   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

blah blah blah rush your opinion is worth nothing. i hope you are not calling yourself a christian these days because you are not even close. sexist and racist does not look good.

Tim in NY   March 6th, 2008 10:25 am ET

Patty Don't   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Rush is just a small minded bigot. Honestly he can say whatever he wants, its his right as an American citizen. The only thing about it that actually scares me is that people agree with him or take him as having some sort of valid opinion. That's what is truly terrifying.

William   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

I've got news for you Limbaugh, you don't know squat. Only idiots would listen to a buffon like Limbaugh.

Jacqueline Samms   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Rush Limbaugh should be ignored by the media. This drug addict should not get any air time. I wish he would just shut up!

George from Minneapolis   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

Hey Rushie boy:

Its not a "dream ticket" if Hillary is on it. Barack would not lower himself to being Hillary's v.p nor would he want her as his v.p.

End of story.

Mike   March 6th, 2008 10:24 am ET

I don't think Obama should bla,e Hillary for negative campaign for his own mistake. Who started distribute the fliers about Hillary's NAFTA stand to Ohio people? that made Hillary so upset and attack him back.

I'm sure Condi Rice appreciates the sentiment.

The EPA should indite him for air-wave pollution.

bridget   March 6th, 2008 10:22 am ET

I don't think Obama would ever be Clinton's vp, and after the smears she has put him through in this campaign, I doubt he would want her to be his. Since Clinton has been pushing the "skeletons" in Obama's closet, perhaps we should start bringing up the Peter Paul and fundaising scandals with China in hers.

Kevin, Evansville IN   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Well, Rush, maybe that's why you flunked out of college. The dream ticket is unlikely, but would win hands down. Largely due to the fact that the moron you put in office has destroyed the credibility of Republican party.

olga gardiner   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Rush Limbaugh should not be on the air. He is the most despectable person I ever heard. Who is he to comment on others. He should take care of his drug problems instead. That man is a very bad example. Please get rid of him. He is anti-american.
Olga Gardiner

Terry   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

Rush Limbaugh is an idiot and he needs to focus on Republican issues. If he was that intelligent he would be running for president.

Dave W   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

I am a Republican and I am becoming tired of Limbaugh's toxic rhetoric. He does not represent me nor many of my true Republican friends. Both Hillary and Barack would be honorable and formidable foes this Fall. If they teamed up together it would be very tough to beat them.
Maybe if McCain chose Lieberman as a running mate?

kelly WI   March 6th, 2008 10:21 am ET

It would be a nightmare every one would want to wake up from.
Of course the spinners would say different.

Angelina Julie Lexington Kentucky   March 6th, 2008 10:20 am ET

I've said it before, with approximately 41% of the US reported to be Democrats, 39% reported to be Republicans and about 20% Independents (who USUALLY vote Republican), why is everyone so certain this "dream ticket" will win? The math says it's pretty much a split. I think the Democrats are getting way ahead of themselves.

Chris,

The people who listen to Rush Limbaugh are those who are too lazy to think for themselves. They confuse loud blustering with substance. It's just easier that way.

Camille   March 6th, 2008 10:19 am ET

Boy. Why is it just me or does it sound like the old boy is actually terrifed of that happening? Seems to me that he realizes that McCain wouldnt have a chance then.

YAWN   March 6th, 2008 10:18 am ET

Why is this idiot on the Ticker again...he is about as relevant as Bob Dole...oh, right that was on CNN as well...really on the pulse guys...good work...

Travis   March 6th, 2008 10:18 am ET

I laughed out loud at this. Is Rush still alive? Guess what Rush? No one cares what you think. I am surprised CNN actually would even comment on what you say.

norb   March 6th, 2008 10:15 am ET

Is Rush back on the painkillers?

John, Raleigh, NC   March 6th, 2008 10:14 am ET

This is the dumbest post I have ever seen. Who cares what the blowhard says?

anon   March 6th, 2008 10:14 am ET

it doesn't have a prayer of ever happening. Obama will get the nomination, and Clinto will NEVER be second fiddle, nor will Obama want someone stealing is limelight and upstaging him.

Independent   March 6th, 2008 10:12 am ET

The real point is not whether they have a prayer but that Mr. Limbaugh needs our prayers.

Evan Mack   March 6th, 2008 10:10 am ET

Every day there is a new ticker item about Rush Limbaugh. Why is CNN reporting this as news? Is it to draw away viewers from FoxNews? Limbaugh has not been news worthy since..........ever!

Kevin   March 6th, 2008 10:09 am ET

Limbaugh managed to be racist and sexist in one simple comment. Gotta love those republicans, they are so creative it hurts....

Chris   March 6th, 2008 10:08 am ET

Why is this guy still on the air? Who the h**l still listens to him?

Joan   March 6th, 2008 10:08 am ET

I doubt Obama will pick HRC.

Not after the smears, racism and fearmongering.

She had her chance, but blew it.

I think he should pick somebody else.

Adam in Indy   March 6th, 2008 10:07 am ET

Why are we paying any attention at all to Rush?
