(CNN) – Barack Obama’s campaign has debuted a new radio ad in Mississippi called "Respect," highlighting what they call “derogatory” remarks Hillary Clinton made about the state late last year.

The ad also argues that Obama will “practice his Christian faith by respecting us” — an apparent push-back against the false Muslim rumors that have dogged him throughout the campaign.

In the 30-second spot, former Mississippi Governor Ray Mabus, an Obama supporter, derides Clinton for comments she made last fall singling out the state’s record of electing female politicians.

"I was shocked when I learned Iowa and Mississippi have never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress," Clinton told the Des Moines Register in October. "There has got to be something at work here. How can Iowa be ranked with Mississippi? That's not the quality. That's not the communitarianism, that's not the openness I see in Iowa.'"

Mabus accuses the Clinton campaign of calling Mississippi voters “second class.”

“Now I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of people putting us down,” Mabus says in the ad. “Tired of politicians trying to divide our nation instead of lifting it up.”

Mississippi voters head to the polls next Tuesday, March 11, with 33 Democratic delegates at stake.

Obama supporters how young and naive you are !

Can't win the election without florida or ohio. Simple fact !!!!

Obama won't win Fl, Hillary proved that he won't win Ohio.

Besides once the Resko trial drops the O bomb he's finished

Bye Bye Barack. Hope all you young people that sent him money which you couldn't afford to send get a refund!!

RuthieM   March 6th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

She;s been constant with the put-downs, even saying small states don't matter or caucus states don't matter in this election. She needs to have any state she may have won a caucus stripped from her total. Vote for Obama Mississippi.

Kevin,

What you have said makes absolutely no sense, it is the most idiotic thing I have heard in a long time, everyone on this blog site is dumber for just reading it.

Obama is the same old type of politician he has complained about this entire election process. He is not an agent of change. He will do anything to get elected. He is a liar. I will never vote for him because I saw through his smooth talkin' a long time ago.

Change we can NOT believe in; Yes, we can fool all of you people; Fired up and ready to lie to get the nomination.

He will lose in November.

Sam   March 6th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Please don't vote for Hillary. She is as crooked as a donkeys hide leg.

No McBush!

Kevin,

Why is it that the only way that Hillary supporters can lift themselves up is to put Obama supporters down?

Is there nothing else that you can point to.

Do your homework and google " Clinton Scams" and then comeback after your hours of reading and share what you have learned.

There is still room on the OBAMA express straight to the White House. You can still be a part of history!!

The Clinton scumbags made sure that this story was
given to the press hours before the elections before
Obama had a chance to respond.

The Republicans have so many lies, scandals, deceptions

Obama should unite the party by admitting that he is not ready to lead our nation

Hillary will be our Nominee,

Obama should start investing an equal ammount of money on his campaign . It will show America that without double spending he cannot cause a significant impact in those people, including me who understand that he is simply not ready to lead our nation.
Hillary can make a great difference and Obama could be a potential good Vice President. Obama can learn as a VP and eventually become our President.

This election is not about race , gender or SES, it is about the future of our loved nation.

Live to America and

Hillary for President!!!

Jay   March 6th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

What a lame attack ad by Obama. As usual sound byte taken way out of context. If he is going to fight Hillary with this kind of soft garbage, he will windiup on the short end of the stick. Remember, getting into a knife fight will Hillary Clinton could be very dangerous.

Kyle   March 6th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Win all the Kerry states.

Win South Carolina or Missouri.

Boom, there's an electoral vote majority for Obama without Ohio or Florida. Wasn't even hard.

Byron in CA   March 6th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

Funny how the media is trying to make the connection of how negative press toward Mr. Obama could have made an impact in the elections on March 4th, but still fail to go further to the connection of how they've affected the perception of Hillary and her campaign over the last 3 months with a constant barrage of negative media toward her.

What is equally as strange is how now it is accepted/encouraged by the media and seems to be the strategy when Mr. Obama goes negative in his campaign, which they and the media have been very critical of Hillary for supposedly doing.

The double standard still exist

George T   March 6th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

I'm an Obama supporter, and I'm not young but I guess by Kevin's terms I'm naive, because I support someone who is not as not as ruthless, divisive, and hypocritical as Hillary Clinton is. Gloat all you want, but things can change, and even if Hillary Clinton wins the nomination, I doubt she'll win the national election. Thank God.

CNN, please post my comment, even though it does not praise Hillary Clinton.

Dexter   March 6th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

Very Nice… Hillary is going to regret starting negative on Obama. He doesn't need to do anything but point out her behavior to the voters to get them to turn on her.

Not that it matters. He has the nomination locked up, so all this is just a waste of time.

Still, fun to watch.

OBAMA 2008   March 6th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Obama keep pushing! Once the news gets out that Hillary was behind NAFTA gate (by the way Canadian gov't has said it was HER HILLARY'S campaign who told them they didnt mean what they said about NAFTA not Obamas) Ohio will feel stupid, Texas will have buyers remorse, and America will see HRC for the untrustworthy politician she really is

Obama for President!!!!!!!!

DJW   March 6th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Hate-o-ration live and well in Hillary camp. 1st Ohio never went for Bill Clinton in the General Election no big deal and Texas is a Republican state -however Senaroe Obama walked away with the most delegates and he still has the popular vote.

What's your point Kevin????

Brenda Waters   March 6th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Hillary's 'Experience' does not bear scrutiny

'Its Getting Ugy out there', and Senator Clinton is leading the race. silly Lady with such baggage - 'what goes round comes round', and even if you get there - the Republicans will eat you up! your 'experience' does not bear scrutiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brenda Elzabeth

ACV   March 6th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Actually Kevin, a recent Survey USA Poll shows that Barack Obama wins rather convincingly against John McCain in a head to head Electoral battle. Hillary does as well but by 8 fewer electoral votes. Also, Hillary won't win Ohio either after NAFTA-Gate is fully exposed.

C   March 6th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

How old and closed-minded you are, Kevin! It's never wrong to have hope, and Florida isn't even an issue now. Until they decide if they're going to have caucuses or an election do-over, it's not over. Obama's still got his lead in delegates. We'll see what happens, but don't go counting your chicks before they hatch. You might just drop your basket and have a pile of broken eggs.

Iowa and Mississippi…can't say that I've thought much of either one of those states. However, Governor Mabus' indignation at Clinton's comments is rather interesting. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

Ronald, American living abroad   March 6th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

It is a shame that Hillary's campaign is built on dividing instead of uniting people in a positive coalition for change. She has shown her contempt again and again for any state which does not vote for her. And, when she lied about NAFTA-gate to steal the Ohio election, she showed her contempt for all the senior adults who are the core of her support. What other ways will Hillary try to divide the UNITED States of America? What else is she hiding?

Dexter   March 6th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

I'm hoping he asks for the 120 missing pages from the Barret report to be made public.

Not only will she be done with politics, she'll be in jail.

Nosakhere Walcott   March 6th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

Yeah, that's right Kevin… that's interesting how you targeted young voters. Is it the fact that we have a nuanced approach of how we view politics and what it should be? I consider that a compliment, and I regret no donation I have made to the campaign in the name of ending the division and dirty politics of the past. Goodbye old America, and I whole-heartedly welcome a restored respect to the US worldwide. It's time to think globally. OBAMA 08

Manuel TX   March 6th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Mississippi has never elected a woman governor, senator or member of Congress?

Wow.

I did not know that.

That is pretty shameful since it's 2008, not 1958.

It's time for the women in Mississippi to have their voices heard. :)

Danielle, OH   March 6th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

This is a stupid ad bc it will only increase support of women in the state. To be honest, I am ashamed of any state that has never had a woman in elected office. Women are 51.5% of the US population and over 60% of the democratic party.

Bean   March 6th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

At first when I saw this title I thought, "Oh no, did Obama really start mud-slinging?" And then I see the quote, and think, "wow, there was no twisting of words at all, that really WAS a put-down to Mississippi." Obama surprises me with his poise and honesty yet again.

Ron, Las Vegas   March 6th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Another uninformed comment. Just because Hillary won Ohio, does not mean Obama can't win it in November unless you are saying that Hillary and McCain are the same all the issues and present them the same way. I am sure there are a number of fund raiser for the Clintons who under investigation and I remember last year that one of them was indicted. The one with the Hing Kong connections. Typically false smear campaigning.

MANDY   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

I think the Rezko investigation for Rezko wrong-doing (that does NOT include Obama) is small potatoes compared to the LAWSUIT between Peter Paul and Bill Clinton for de-frauding Paul on funds raised for Hillary's Senate seat race….

Hmmmmm….

And to make matters more interesting, the lawsuit is set to occur late in 2008 in Los Angeles.

Where will Hillary be? Possibly defending herself in Los Angeles, I think!

sarah   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

I don't see a problem with Hillary's comment - it is unfortunately the truth that those states do not elect women and that discrimination against woman is even worse in Mississippi than Iowa.

Someone is simply speaking out about this silent discrimination of women in the South and the people in Mississippi should rather open their minds and hearts and take this opportunity to vote for Hillary to change the discrimination and sexism.

Army Vet   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Kevin,

What makes you think Dems wouldn't unite in Ohio, Fla to beat the Republicans in a General Election. What happens in a primary has little bearing on what will occur in GE…Obama is the only candidate to back at this point.

Cami   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Kevin-
I'm a little bit sick and tired of people referring to Obama supporters as "young" "naive" "wet behind the ears" "uninformed" etc.

These same young people that you refer to seem to be plenty old enough to go fight Hillary's war in Iraq! I don't hear you complaining about them doing THAT!

I think the young people of America deserve a break. They aren't as idiotic as many Clinton supporters seem to imply. Get off their backs, already!

CW4Barack   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Kevin, you are the naive one. Clinton played the last card she had–going negative and nasty, which rep. her true personality–she has nothing left! She WILL be losing all elections starting on Saturday, Americans are not stupid and are on to the Billary games–all her supporters who are on her payroll can't help her now. If FL and Michigan have a redo, she will lose those too!
Obama '08!

Bayou Joe   March 6th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

Race or Fenimism that is the message of hope. How about immigration, job losses. protecting our citizens, drug dealers and supporting our troops. This is the message of hope and trust me I am not a Muslim approach to winning in November. Give me a break.

Interesting   March 6th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Kevin, I'm not young & I know Obama will win Ohio.

Reason: McCain is for NAFTA.

Reason: Obama is not even on the Rezko trial witness list (It just came out). He has nothing to do with that man's problems.

Good try though, but the old Clinton spin isn't what it used to be.

AJ, IL   March 6th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

I think she should drop out now while she still has some measure of dignity.

Alecki   March 6th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

What is wrong with asking a candidate about their upbringing.
If you have Muslim relatives, what's wrong with that.

If Barack Hussein Obama is this candidate's name and he is not related to a Muslim mother or father, why would his mother name him such a Muslim name.

If someone asked me why my name was Alecki Agapemu Acrobodopolis and I responded that I wan't Greek and that I was Chrisitian, it would be just avoiding the issue.

That isn't my name.
But I do know that I would admit that my mother was Greek. I wouldn't be afraid to share that.

Can't we ask Obama about his name and why if he has no ties to Muslims he has that name?

NEVEROBAMA   March 6th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Foolish, foolish Hillary Supporters want to change the rules in the middle of the game. Unfortuantely, they probably don't have enough sense to realize that she can't win the delegate count, even w/ FL and MI. Re-do the votes so that everyone can have their voice heard, not just the ones that didn't actually pay attention. Or at least in the case of MI, put Obama's name on the ballot at least. More votes, more delegates, more popularity. Why is she still even in the race? She won't win the general to begin with so why not just quit now and save herself the agony. When that Peter Paul v. Clinton comes out the comeback kid will have to go back home. Bye Bye Hill and Bill you had your time.

I love America   March 6th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

This is a part of a pattern- Mrs. Clinton frequently labels entire states as "irrelevant"- ususally after she loses them. What an insult to the tax-paying Americans in all of those states!

Kind of like when she insulted housewives across America when she said "I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas."

Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius (a Democrat) did the right thing recently by publicly taking issue with Senator Clinton's writing off certain states of the Union.

Perhaps Gov Sebelius should appear in some commercials for Senator Obama. Sebelius is an admirable leader.

Mad in Texas   March 6th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

This is ridiculous. You Obama people are the most misinformed people I have ever seen. Now Bill was in Canada before the election. He must to have multiplied. For I saw him give a speech right here in Texas at the time you say he was in Canada. Jesse James he is not. Get real you lieing bunch of Obama's supporters. Yeah I can believe one thing. I thought a little about the dream ticket, but that is out. There is no way Hillary supporters will support an Obama on the ticket. He talks about change. What kind of change. I am tired of that being all he can say. If he should be so lucky as to gain the White House how is he a shoeshine boy going to change it with all the other politicians up there. He can't even handle one woman. BUT WHAT A WOMAN> Whip his little butt. Go back to Kenya Obama and leave us alone. HILLARY 08

Sherylanne   March 6th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

In Pennsylvania, Hillary Clinton has opened a fifteen percentage point lead over Barack Obama. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows Clinton attracting 52% of the vote while Obama earns 37%.

Thought I'd share this from Politico since I'm sure CNN would never show this.

Suzie Wilhelm   March 6th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

I think that it is absolutely appalling that Hillary would say something like that about our southern brethren. Then again, I can't say that I'm shocked. She is obvioulsy a very divisive, manipulative and condescending woman. I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her–which isn't very far judging by the size of her thighs. But based on this latest newsflash, I'd like to throw her and her evil cronies in the Mississippi RIVER. Shame on you Hillary Clinton. SHAME ON YOU!!!

Demetri Demo   March 6th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

It's good to see that partisan lines are forming WITHIN the Democratic Party. Good to know we're going to lose the general election because everyone here is so in love with their own candidate, so intent on just beating the other person, that they forgot that whomever wins, we ALL have to support. That is, unless you want McCain to win.

HG   March 6th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Why haven't there been any women elected in the state of Mississippi?

Andy   March 6th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

Kevin, that has to be the dumbest post i've even see.

1) The Resko trial has nothing to do with Obama.
2) When do you think GOP would vote for Hillary? There is no way any red state will vote for her. She is the antithesis of GOP. Unlike her, Obama can potentially encourage some of the red states to vote for him in the general election. He has been having landslide victories in these states and there were record turnouts for Obama support in the red states. A large majority of the states she's won are "Blue" states in that they will vote democratic no matter who's democratic nominee. She doesn't have the independent support that will be needed to compete with McCain's independent support nor does she have the support of republicans that are fed up with our government and want change. Only Obama does. These are crucial to compete in the general election.
3. What foreign experience does Hillary have? None. She's visited 80 countries and has no engagement in any Negotiation, treaties, etc. She's full of hot air. The only time she has influenced a foreign policy decision was to not read the report on the Iraq war and vote for us to go into the war.

A vote for Hillary is a vote for McCain to win.
A vote for Obama is a vote for victory.

I recommend that you all watch a documentary called Orwell Rolls Over in his Grave. People, this campaign is only negative because of the spin doctors and the press. Half the stuff said by both candidates is taken completely out of context by the media to get you all riled up. Be careful about your sources for information.

pal   March 6th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

I guess Hillary supporters cannot read or do math, that every remaining primary, except PA, will go to Obama because of the demographics, all the way to North Carolina. Even if Obama loses PA with a small margin; he will still have a substantial delegate lead over Hillary. Are you reading all the reports about the states that Obama has been wining? Do you know anything about the demographics of the general election? Typical of “Hillamaniacs,” just recycling the same nonsense.

martha myers   March 6th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Lumumba   March 6th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Hey Kevin,

History does have a purpose, but there is a new day dawning after which history will be written.

That day is called, America thanks, Obama, the young, the independent and the progressive.

Older folks are of little use, without the young who are constantly burdened with improving the follies of old and the old. Follies such as a black or a female cannot or should not lead this country and follies that seek to undermine the significance of young people. Follies that trust young people to defend the freedoms of americans and temper the flares in the international community but not to have the wherewithal to choose a president.

God bless us all, old, young, male and female.

mamady sylla (london)   March 6th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Hillary, you want to be negative; you must pay the price.

DLS, NM   March 6th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

What is this talk of "winning" a state in a Democratic Primary. Unlike the winner take all Republicans, the Democrats elect delegates and the candidate with the most delegates at the end of the state primaries wins. After all of her "successes" in TX and OH last Tuesday, Clinton's delegate count didn't really change. She may "win" in PA or FL or MI…or maybe not. But at the end of the day, it will be so close in those states that the delegate count will still remain about the same. She's run a terrible campaign and now she's reaping the rewards. I wonder what happened to all of Hillary's champagne on Super Tuesday!

Josh Good   March 6th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

This is all Obama can dig up? Keep digging Obama. Give Ken Star a shovel while you are at it. He would be delighted to help.

D.Kimbro OHIO   March 6th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

Kevin do we really want to talk about scandals?? The Clintons haven't faced Tax Gate yet. But Im sure when they do all of her supporters will charge that the Obama camp planted money in their coffers to discredit them. You appear to be a bright person, you cant believe, that Mclovin will ever change. Hillary will really help him by surrounding him with more young women. You want to talk scandal.

James   March 6th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

If Clinton is allowed to steal this nomination from Obama I will vote republican for the first time in my life!!!

Peggy   March 6th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

Clinton has insulted many states through this whole process by saying only the big states matter, and has skipped campaining in states because "it wasnt worth it". Obama has campainged in all the states so far because they ALL MATTER!!

Nando, Florida   March 6th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Hey Hillary we are just getting started , After Barak is done with you you won't be able to run for the CLERK OF COURTS in WACO, TX

Amy, Ohio   March 6th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Boo-Ya! Go Barack! You are a decent and respectable candidate that has tried to stay above the fray..Unfortunately, that's not how the game is being played. Time for you to "throw the kitchen sink" right back at Hillary. Oh, and by the way..looks like you won Texas!

JD in AZ   March 6th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

DJW, Bill Clinton won Ohio both times.

So what's the change Obama represents? He appears willing to go negative after losing a couple of states. I hope he doesn't plan on lowering himself to her level for tactics.

And polls for matchups in November election are pointless. Nobody is voting now. And considering how often the polls change why bother. Too many things will happen before election day.

VFH   March 6th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Yeah, Mabus! You're another politician dividing our nation. How about 'lifting' your state into the twenty first century to catch up with the rest of the country.
Good ol' boys' club in your state is SO yesterday!

Michael, North Carolina   March 6th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

Also after Penn you still have the big prize hear in the south. North Carolina has 115 delegates, and the lates poll show Sen. Obama at 46% and Sen. Clinton at 31%, so she has no chance of winning here. So if she was to barely win in Penn, her victory would be offset by Obama's landslide victory here in North Carolina. The math just does not add up. She could when ever state from hear on out, and he still would have the lead in PLEDGED DELEGATES.

YES WE CAN
OBAMA/EDWARDS' O8

liz   March 6th, 2008 5:35 pm ET

obama did not win because Hillary made sure that she and her husband smear obama's campaign.Cheap shot. America wake up. Cant you see what's happening????????????

ronnie   March 6th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

ACV
That same poll showed Barack winning New Hampshire.
Just a thought.

EFabian   March 6th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

That thigh comment was beyond laughable and ridiculously childish. Is this what Obama "The Great Uniter" is teaching you all. LOL.

Obama is a hypocrite and hopefully he will be exposed as the inexperiened, hypocritical politician he really is. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. Even one of his own supporters stated on national TV he is NOT prepared.LOL

Candy   March 6th, 2008 5:36 pm ET

Well Kevin your girlfriend or wife better watch you, because are a liar and a dirty player. Because anybody that can support Hil-lie-ary in all of her dirt a lies is no better that she is (and she is truly no good). If she has a record why not run on it rather than dirt. Because as the saying goes if you have to run on dirt you don't have a record.

john from oregon   March 6th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

You know how you can tell if Bill or Hillary Clinton are not telling the truth? Just read their lips every time they talk. She went on a distortion of the facts rampage last week. Even telling everyone on her so called victory speech that "No President has ever been elected in the primaries or general election without winning Ohio." FACT CHECK: John F. Kennedy lost the Ohio Primary in 1960 and Won that year. Oh but just like the NAFTA Lie and the Unfair Press treatment pity party for her she will never clean up the facts unless she wants to Shame him like a overbearing mother for her own gain. Just like JFK said of Nixon, "It is hard to run against someone that is on both sides of every issue."

Ty   March 6th, 2008 5:37 pm ET

Percy,

Tell me, How did obama go negative…he didnt have to say a word or add anything to that ad. Werent those Hillary's words??? He is not accusing anyone as far as i can see? Lets see how Hillary will respond to this…I cant wait…Now how many questions does she have to answer to the american public….I have lost count….at this rate by the time we reach PENNSYLVANIA , she will be toast.

Jean-Luc   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

At least he is stating the facts, unlike NAFTA hearsay.

Mary C   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Obama didn't say it. Hillary said it. Why shouldn't she mind? They are her own– so quailified words.

Obama 08 only

Hermione   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

LOL. I thought Obama was SO "above" negative campaigning. What a lying immature whiner. He can give a smooth speech but he can't keep his word…how "anti-Washington"!! He's so against the grain! PLEASE.

Hillary '08

Janel, St. Paul, MN   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

This is "typical Clinton" hype.

Hopefully people will understand that she is all about the "big states" and those who support a "woman" candidate.

Sorry, Senator Clinton. I'd love to see a woman candidate, but it is not you!

Nicole   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

What phatoms me is why people hate Obama. Has he ever did any thing to anyone but put out his views and opinions for us Democrats to decide. Clinton is the one trying to sling mud. Who is linked to drug dealers, murders, tax fraud, stock fraud but you love her soooo much. I think Hilary supports show just how corrupt and ignorant people are in this country. You would cast your vote for a liar. She can't even run her own house but you think she can run the White House. Tell Hilary to worry about Bill and let Obama worry about the country

Jyh1920   March 6th, 2008 5:38 pm ET

Go Obama! Ohio and Texas have PROVEN that you can't remain positive and win when it comes to the Clintons….They don't want to go there! They really don't!

OBAMA 2008

alonzo   March 6th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

he they have the most delegates win the nomination thats where the super d will say im tired of people sayin experince what they want experince people their not good workers just know the job but know how to work around things to yes hilary been in the white house but know how to work around things to she been there and done there thats a joke new people are better workers they are excited

DfromNy   March 6th, 2008 5:39 pm ET

Hillary's only option is to try to steal the nomination after she has run out of dirty tricks. She cannot catch up.

She says she wants the votes counted but ONLY the ones that voted for her.
By the way, Obama won TEXAS!

If she gets away with this game, there will not only be a rejection of her candidacy, but protests against the DNC. Her dirty tactics are only serving to split our party in half. Not that she seems to care. Don't think people are going to let her walk away with this without consequences. She will not win without the rest of us anyway.

The DNC thinks that the Obama supporters will just accept Hillary even though she cannot win the majority of pledged delegates.
THEY ARE WRONG AND ARE IN FOR A BIG SURPRISE.

Alan   March 6th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

I don't care about the scandals. I want somebody who can do something about this economy. Obama hasn't done anything so far to make me confident other than giving great speeches. Let us face it guys, this country is in bad shape and it is getting worse by the minute. I think we are screwed anyway. But if he is the Democratic candidate, I will probably vote for him.

Veronica in CA   March 6th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

"Keep going guys, we ned to finish her…. Dig everywhere Clinton's scandals can hide and bring them to light."

Nothing like a little HOPE and UNITY and rejection of OLD POLITICS, huh?

Hypocrisy.

GO HILLARY!

Hillary fan   March 6th, 2008 5:40 pm ET

Please people educate yourself on whoever you are voting for… I see so many people comment on both HILLARY & OBAMA and say stuff that is not true… A good amount of the stuff you guys write is repeated from what i have heard people on TV say…. For people like me that have read up on ALL the candidates..Your comments are both comical ans sad at the same time.

There several swing states out there VA, MO, SC. Ohio & Florida are not the only ones but they are key to winning. This will play itself out. Obama fans let's not get on the ground with them because they are all about throwing dirt.

Obama 08

Candy   March 6th, 2008 5:42 pm ET

Now Percy your turn. Obama has more poise in his little finger than you have in your whole body. Thanks to the press and the negative campagin that they ran against Obama last week is really sad. And still he stands tall and strong and is not dishing dirt as lying Hil-Lie-ary just to win and she still lost she is still behind. What the media is trying to do is help Hil-lie-ary steal the nomiation like someone else I know

Cindy   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

FACT: If Clinton is not the nominee then the dems in Ohio, Florida and those other states that HRC says that the dems "have to win" will go with the party nominee ….Obama.

As to the argument that Obama is winning in states that will NOT go democratic in the fall…. How does anyone know that? The turnout of the democrats in those states is way, way, way up so don't say that it is not possible for those states that are considered "red" to be forever and ever in the "red" column. Maybe the people in those states have simply been waiting for a different kind of democratic. One that doesn't rely on mud-slinging and lying to get into the White House.

Rick in Boynton Beach   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Sometimes in a fight you get dragged down to your oppanents level. It's understandable, you have to defend yourself. It doesn't mean your as bad as they are. It's who starts it and cleary Billary started it. I commend Obama for going this long before going negative.

Independent Voter   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Why is Clinton's NAFTA-gate news not reported by CNN. CNN you are not FOX News. Show that you are unbiased. I personnaly was shocked to read the press release.

Robert   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

It is a shame that Obama has to turn to negative campaign tricks (like the Hillary campaign) to counter Hillary but that appears to be what American voters respond to. What a sad nation we are: attack and destroy rather than embrace and construct.

Julian   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

Obama has once again proven his unworthiness. He talks about being above the politics of yesterday but he's just another dirty Chicago style politician. His Mississippi advertisement was disgusting. Obama is a liar about NAFTA and his wife is unpatriotic. He needs to apologize to the American people and go back to practicing law. He has ruined his career in politics forever. I used to think this was decent guy, now I dislike him.

Obama Supporters.....   March 6th, 2008 5:43 pm ET

I am not sure where you folks are getting the notion that Clinton was powerful enough to set up Obama by the Canadian government. Ecks…you people are crazy…I checked on the Canadian government paper and there is no mention of the BS…send a link please.

And I do wonder who does those polls…..the news media….and who do they want? Obama……..simple…..!

So he double and triple spent compared to Clinton last week and she took 3 out of 4. Most people are not so easily swayed by such ads. They are BS if one really pays attention and does their homework. Doing the homework is the key……..go check out the entire speech that Clinton made. I dare you all to become informed!

And certainly after what I have seen posted lately - the Obama supports sure seem to have the nails out - I suppose because their chosen candidate got caught with his hands in the cookie jar called Canada or was it that he denied it happened and then there was a memo or was it - bla bla bla.

Senator Obama is the same politician as any politican and to think he is not - well now that is naive!

bakersfield   March 6th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

mississippi will vote african american anyways just like the rest of the mostly african american populated states. average about 80% for obama then they will pressure loyal black superdelegates for hillary to switch to obama. its really sad considering how much the clintons had done for african americans that the split is as much as it is.

Nick   March 6th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Obama: Judgment America can trust!

AJ / North Carolina   March 6th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Obama is always negative unless he is making a speech about flowers and sunshine.

Hillary was doing a comparision to Iowa (where I grew up). It is very open and democratic in Iowa… I don't know about Mississippi… but I do see the comparision as true.

The real question is will Mississippi pick the woman that America wants or the black man?????? Last time I checked, there were more woman there then blacks - and maybe the woman are upset that a woman has never been elected into a position of power!

Kevin   March 6th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

ooops fogot. to mention to all of you who think I am a Hillary supporter.. I'm NOT! To think that Obama is running a campaign on the "change" message you have to be kidding!! He's just like the rest of them! Negative ads, behind the scenes dealings (I know as a fact from person dealing near his campaign that he said before the Iowa caucus before he went out to preach "watch me swoon these white people" your being fooled. The only candidate left if McCain!

Candy   March 6th, 2008 5:44 pm ET

Deb sound like you would like to have a good man like Obama in your life so it sound like the same Old BS to me. I can always tell a woman that does not have a good man and you sound just like one. If you support Obama maybe you can find one once he cleans up the trash.

KD   March 6th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Great, Great Point Obama!
It's painfully obvious that over the months of the campaign we have been reminded that Hillary and her campaign aren't too smart. They aren't very good at math, not good at budgeting, not too good with honesty and candor, and (As "W" would say) "Strategarie" isn't an area of strength for them either. Not to mention that aren't too good at running campaigns. If she can't run a $150 million campaign then how can she run the economy of the United States….

Steve in Albuquerque, NM   March 6th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Don't dish it out if you can't take it, Hillary.

Wendy   March 6th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

Is this a negative attack?? I thought Mr O was above…it's amazing how reality changes peoples view on life. No Mr O…Jimmy Stewart is the only guy who could take on Washington….remember, and that was a movie.

Antonio Jeffery   March 6th, 2008 5:46 pm ET

You can't call it an attack if its a quote, and a valid quote at that. This only brings up what needs to be brough up, closer scruttiny of the Hillary's campaign. That means every thing from her tax records and White House papers, to the truth about this whole NAFTAgate situation. Trust me if Barack is saying he is going to get tough on Hillary he is going to get tough on her, and she can play the victim again. I can only guess that if Barack takes it to her in PA then and wins, she will drop out of the race. The majority of the states after that will look really good for him to win, I can say with a great deal of certainty that she will get destroyed in the my home state of OR.

BLACKMAN for HILLARY   March 6th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Typical of a black man trying to disenfranchise Hillary success. I understand that she may not win an "African American state" but still don't tear the party apart!

We love HIllary!!

Hillary made a comment about women not about the state of missippii voters..

Julie, Binghamton, NY   March 6th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

I seriously hope female voters in Mississippi take offense to Obama using this as an attack on Hillary.

CJena   March 6th, 2008 5:47 pm ET

Obama is no way going to beble to run against someone like McCain. We need a strong and experince person to beat him.
Lies get you no where!!
Hillary and Edwards as vice would be a great ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kentuckian for Obama   March 6th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

It sounds like Hillary is the one being negative on this issue. I think OBAMA is just stating the obvious. She doesn't care about some states and she has demonstrated that throughout this election - and that, MY FRIENDS, is why she is behing right now.

Kat   March 6th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

It's about time that Obama start fighting fire with fire.

Gobama

Leslie   March 6th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Now, *that's* a negative ad.

So where are all the pundits who repeated the "Hillary went negative" mantra every 12 seconds? She ran an ad that did not contain a single attack on him or criticize a single word he said. She didn't enlist any pals to gang up on him. Didn't say a single thing about Obama in fact. Not one. She wasn't responsible for his sending people to schmooze the Canadians, or for his lying about it, or backtracking. She didn't have anything to with his spectacular lack of judgment in doing business with a creep like Rezko, or the fact that the got caught. That's all on him, and believe me the Republicans won't give him a walk on it.

If he makes it to the White House, it won't be by dismissing the critics with an airy wave of the hand and a dazzling smile.

Allen   March 6th, 2008 5:48 pm ET

Any state that billary doesn't win in means nothing to her…. I've watched the whole election to date… And I've yet to see this arrogant crooked politician thank anyone in any state for there support… Execpt the 12 states she has won in….

This is what the billary band wants in our whitehouse? I think not….

What about Clinton saying it was an honor to run against Obama and saying shame on him less than 48 hours later. i don't care what Obama does from now on.You only act like a human being with those who deserve it. Clinton wants to behave like we are in a jungle, then Obama should act the same to defend himself.

jp/michigan   March 6th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Let the games begin!

Matt NC   March 6th, 2008 5:50 pm ET

Get real about Obama's "fighting back strategy". He is going to open a can of worms that's going to eat him alive. He is doing exactly what she wants him to do and that is get mad and fight back. This will give her the opportunity to once again point to the fact that his speeches and actions don't match and that he is just like every other politician running for an elected office-He wants to win like everybody else. I have said it before and I will say it agan. He is not a Saint.

I hope he remembers that Rezco trial is underway and it's just a matter of time before it all hits the fan. I hope she nails him to the walls on all four sides. He should have been playing tough at the beginning. But to her favor, better late than never.

I hope she points out all of his imperfections so that people can realize that he is not the answer to America's problems. Soon and very soon the American people will get to know the Real Barack Obama and what a shameful face it will be.

"Jones in Sacramento-Hillary is so polarizing….Obama is the uniter"

CORRECTION: "Obamabots are polarizing…..Obama is NOT a uniter but a whiner!"

NObama is OBVIOUSLY NOT the different kind of candidate he said he was. Obama sent out negative mailers in Ohio and Texas and is now saying Hillary starting it all???!!! WHO doe he think he is fooling!!

Obama HOPE "you" can take WHAT YOU DISH OUT!!

So much for this kind of stuff being "silly politics" eh NObama??!! LOOOLLLLLLLLL!!!! what a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chuck   March 6th, 2008 5:51 pm ET

Oh no you don't Hillary supporters. There is no way you can criticize Obama for getting negative when it was just fine by all of you for Hillary to go negative prior to the Ohio, Texas primaries and before that and to tell Obama if he can't take the heat to get out of the kitchen. I say let the party begin and tell your own canddiate that if she can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. If the voters in Mississippi think that Hillary cares about them I have some swamp land in Florida to sell them. Her comments do not surprise me. She has now and has always had a higher then thou attitude. Show her what you think of such an attitude Mississippi. Vote Obama 100%.

I support Obama. We are in the United States of America. Where politics of hate are not the way to go about or campaign. Please Obama you are my man….. Keep nice and don't join the malicious camp. This is the only sore way for your victory. If you join in maligns lining you will be loosing to Hillary. Do not think she warn Ohio because of being malicious, I think you did pretty well there after coming back several points behind not to mention the Memo.

HD for Obama   March 6th, 2008 5:52 pm ET

Mississippi is about to become the state that brought the Clintons down. They are not to be fooled like the people of Ohio. Rush can't help her this time either. Her lies will catch up with her in Mississippi. Show up and greet her with loud BOOOOs. One thing that I was taught growing up in the south was "if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all". Now she has to eat her words and tell more lies about how she loves the state of Mississipps and never to come back until she runs for office again. She is a LIAR.
Show her Mississippi.

Fun to see the one of the most divisive figures in American politics finally get held accountable by the Obama campaign. Hillary will of course "cry" foul- as she is the constantly the attacker and the victim. I believe if she connives her way into the general election through back room deals and political underhandedness it will do nothing but hurt our chances in November. As far as her experience goes- Look at the bills she has gotten through the senate compared with Obama. If you want to rename post offices and parks then she is a perfect fit (lame duck Senator). If you want someone who wants to bring the country together and move us forward then vote for Obama.

Rose - Baltimore, MD   March 6th, 2008 5:54 pm ET

Carol in Houston TX   March 6th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

Kevin,

How naive you are, HRC did not win Ohio nor Texas because people want her to be President, they voted for her because they know she cannot beat McCain in November. As for trials why don't you check out the trial about to began in CA regarding HRC and her usual tactics.

Joseph   March 6th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

Correction to DJW:

Bill Clinton won Ohio in 1992: 40% to 38% over George Bush.
Bill Clinton won Ohio in 1996: 47% to 41% over Bob Dole.
George Bush took Ohio in 2000 and 2004

Also Obama barely beat Hillary in Missouri in the primary - less than 10,000 votes.

Obama will have trouble in Ohio and Missouri if he is the nominee.
Bill Clinton won Missouri by 10 points over Bush in 1992 and won again 1996 over Dole. Bush won Missouri in 2000 and 2004.

Ohio and Missouri — for the past 50 years or so, have always backed the winner in the genral election. Obama is in trouble.

Truth   March 6th, 2008 5:55 pm ET

Percy,

Prove he went negative.

Like all delusional and dumb Hilbot supporters, more hot hair of denial that your candidate is not so good.

The Clintons got more than just money from Rezko. Look it up.

Obama Supporters.....   March 6th, 2008 5:56 pm ET

The only truth you all can do for yourselves is to go and get informed - read exactly what - whre - and when the speech was made and then read the WHOLE speech. Then make a decision.

Who in their right mind would make a decision so vital as this off of an ad??? Doesn't anyone think anymore?

How come most of my posts which are filled with in-depth analyses aren't posted, while those of others who are throwing insults and "all caps" language are?
I think this network is more about sensationalism and tabloid journalism rather than civil and thoughtful discourse. Whatever sells the news, I guess.
I dare you to post this comment, CNN.

stan   March 6th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

why does Obama always stutter when asked a question ?

Carol Canton MI   March 6th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

Of course he is the same old politics. He has Ted Kennedy backing him and the old fart has been in politics for decades.

Obama just does not have what it takes to be president yet.

Hillary 2008 Yes She WILL!!!!

Vincent   March 6th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

HILLARY 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PMI   March 6th, 2008 5:58 pm ET

'SHAME ON YOU" Hillary Clinton!! Come on down to Mississippi and try to slither out of an explanation. We are all Americans, little Miss Arkansas cartpetbagger and we all vote and we won't be voting for you.
The state of MS is Obama country!
YES WE CAN!

J.K.   March 6th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

Hillary can call Canada, but she can't call H&R Block.

No votes for Hillary until she releases her tax returns!

abby   March 6th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

the game is not yet over.. this is just the second half. look if someone thinks a state does not matter.. O well it will be to their own disadvantage!!! . I am not a fun of the negative. but if that is what it takes, then why not.. she has more dirt on her than Obama and i think its about time we start digging it out..
Hillary YOU going down.

HD for Obama   March 6th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

It is the beginning of the end for the Clinton campaign.

Meet him in Mississippi and Wyoming Hillary if you think every vote is important. Funny…..you didn't think the voters decision in Louisiana, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, etc did not matter much.

Realist   March 6th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

Obama is playing dirty? whatever happened to a new type of Politician? hahahahhahahahahhahhahaa. This is laughable indeed.

Mr. Barack, there is nothing like a new type of Politician. There is only a good politician. Your entire campaign is based on a lie. Clinton needs to highlight this.

Len   March 6th, 2008 6:00 pm ET

What goes around comes around!! Two can play the Clintons' games!!There is no reason Barak should have to put up with these negative attacks!!!!!!
Obama 2008

GAM   March 6th, 2008 6:01 pm ET

One would wonder what contributions did the Clinton's received, why they refuse to disclose their tax return, and now having a judge to block her phone log from disclosure to the public and fellow senators for two years, for the period of time that she serves as Fist Lady in the White House. Something wrong with this picture and the American people need to know now. Likewise, after the Democratic Party established its rule which was accepted by all the States and Senators, Hillary want the rule change to satisfy her ego. Has the laws form only for and by The Clintons, which give them right to break it and ajust it to justify them and them only.

joe mett   March 6th, 2008 6:01 pm ET

Who is saying that you cannot win the november elections without Ohio? I guess Obama is another JFK.

JFK WON HIS NOVEMBER ELECTION IN 1960 WITHOUT OHIO AND FLORIDA. The Clintons should check their facts.

Sam   March 6th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

And Kevin something you need to realize, Hillary can not and will not win the General Election IF she get the nomination WITHOUT US BARACK OBAMA SUPPORTERS!! Think about that!

Kevin March 6th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

Obama supporters how young and naive you are !

Can't win the election without florida or ohio. Simple fact !!!!

Obama won't win Fl, Hillary proved that he won't win Ohio.

Besides once the Resko trial drops the O bomb he's finished

Bye Bye Barack. Hope all you young people that sent him money which you couldn't afford to send get a refund!!

Anastasia   March 6th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

Kevin,

Exit polls show that the older, less educated, female blue collar American is voting for Hillary Clinton. So, Hillary Clinton is exploiting the weaker of our society; i.e., those less informed. Which of these are you. You sound just like Hillary, very negative with a lot of hot air. Learn to support your comments with sound reasoning, if you want anyone to believe you.

BH3   March 6th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

Hillary, the president for the United States of America…

except caucus states, red states, most of the small states, the state she grew up in, very liberal states, and Mississippi.

ok maybe just big blue states…that's doesn't have the same ring.

Michelle   March 6th, 2008 6:02 pm ET

If Florida and Michigan is counted with out a redo, and Clinton clutch the victory for the Democratic Party. I will no longer be a Democratic. I will be an Indenpendant…

Ronald, American living abroad   March 6th, 2008 6:03 pm ET

Why is CNN not printing comments critical of Hillary?

It is a shame that Hillary's campaign is built on dividing instead of uniting people in a positive coalition for change. She has shown her contempt again and again for any state which does not vote for her. And, when she lied about NAFTA-gate to steal the Ohio election, she showed her contempt for all the senior adults who are the core of her support. What other ways will Hillary try to divide the UNITED States of America? What else is she hiding?

Obama   March 6th, 2008 6:04 pm ET

Obama and his supporters sound desparate to me!!

Dolores   March 6th, 2008 6:04 pm ET

Here we go again they king of whine!

Paula   March 6th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Darth Vadik of CA, what Kevin said is in fact absolutely correct. It makes no sense to you because you apparently have not done your research on Obama. Don't limit yourself to CNN and this Blog. Go to the Chicago Tribune website and read what their reporters are saying regarding Obama's long time friend, contributor, and former client. Incidentally, Resko's trial started this week in Chicago.

In fact just GOOGLE "Resko" and see what you come up with in terms of Obama's and Resko's relationship and who funded Obama when he got started in politics.

Do the same for Clinton…research, research, research…then weigh your options!

Peter   March 6th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

What is Senator Obama going to do for Mississippi?

Raise the per capita income? Raise the high school graduation rate? Raise the literacy rate? Lower the infant mortality rate? Protect the Coast from the insurance companies? Protect the Coast from FEMA? Learn something about the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan so he can find out the National Guard needs to re-equip to help in natural disasters?

None of the above?

You are expected to carry the state in the primary, but what will you do for the people afterward?

More action, Senator Obama, less talk.

Once again, so much for the new politics.

steve o   March 6th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Just as usual, she start out in lead 15 to 20% up just to see her numbers fall before the elections. She can win the nomination. 150 pleadge delegates are too much for to overcome. Just imagine after March 4, she just gain a net of 10 max. What does this tell clinton supporters? The fat Lady is singing.
Bye bye clinton dynancy

Obama 08

Emmanuel   March 6th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Obama is not going negative. stop being a liar robert. Do you want to see the video of Hillary saying exctly what the radio ad says? When did it become negative if you can proof what she said just recently in IOWA with the truth. Comapre this ad to Clintons ad of accusing Obama on NAFTA.

Please focus your comments on Clinton and fracking leave Obama alone. Obama this ..Obama that.. Leave him alone he is our president whether racists in the democratic party like it or not.

Serge from Miami   March 6th, 2008 6:06 pm ET

Yay OBAMA! This is not a negative attack, it's a pure replay of her "exact quote":

"There has got to be something at work here. How can Iowa be ranked with Mississippi? That's not the quality. That's not the communitarianism, that's not the openness I see in Iowa.'" - HRC

No fudging the truth here. No he said, she said innuendo. Just the facts. As long as we stick to the facts, and don't try to "spin" the truth, then I would not call it negative, just PERTINENT.
