Obama adviser resigns over comment

Power has resigned her position with the campaign.
Power has resigned her position with the campaign.

(CNN) - Samantha Power has resigned her position from Barack Obama's campaign after calling Hillary Clinton a 'monster,' the Illinois senator's campaign announced.

“With deep regret, I am resigning from my role as an advisor the Obama campaign effective today," Power said in a statement issued by the campaign. "Last Monday, I made inexcusable remarks that are at marked variance from my oft-stated admiration for Senator Clinton and from the spirit, tenor, and purpose of the Obama campaign. And I extend my deepest apologies to Senator Clinton, Senator Obama, and the remarkable team I have worked with over these long 14 months."

The Obama campaign said that the decision was Power’s, and stressed that “she was an adviser, not a paid staffer.”

"She made the decision to resign and we accepted," said communications director Robert Gibbs.

Earlier in the day, the Clinton campaign had called for Obama to end Power's association with his campaign.

hillary Clinton turned these elections into a despicable political game. If Clinton comes back, it will take the world back to the 90s and if McCain wins, it will be perceived as a continuation of Bush's politics. Americans abroad elected Obama because they understand it is necessary. If Obama wins, America wins.

I bet this was orchestrated by Obama himself. Let one of his advisors put out a bogus comment about Clinton that voters will always have on their mind from now until Pennsylvania, then take a fall after the damage has been done. Wow, I wonder how much of Oprah's money she got?

So much for your clean campaign, Obama.

And once again, the personal strength and ethics of Barack Obama vindicate my switch from a life long Republican to Democrat. This is the type of politician I have been looking for. He sets the standard for the conduct of his campaign as he will set the standard for his administration ........... and sticks to it. No more Scooter Libby's, Brownie's, Rove's, Gonzoles', etc. How about the Clinton's? Any standards or personal ethics to be upheld there? I'm waiting.............

Well, her testimony during the Rose billing records investigation showed she is a liar. Cattle futures etc showed she a crook as well. Then there's the FBI files. "Monster" seemed a bit polite to me.

  11. Defintion of Character

Character-qualities of honesty, courage, or the like; integrity. All of the personality traits that Hillary Clinton does not have.

WILL YOU FIRE HOWARD WOLFSON NOW? NOPE! because you lack character. She will defend him. She will become the cowardly lion and crouch behind her husband and play victim. Why? Character.

PEOPLE SUPPORT OBAMA because of Character. This is how he handles his business. You screw up your out! That's called character.

I'd like to see the Clinton Campaign play by the same rules and Wolfson resign, but that won't happen. The CC is the epitome of hypocrisy. It's disgusting what she is saying, all but endorsing McCain over Obama.

Too bad people must resign simply for telling the truth.

I agree with Trish, "Hill-dog" is much more than a monster. With all the shady Clinton history, how on earth are we as a nation even considering putting "them" back in the White House? Amazing.

The Obama Campaign is totaly right. It's need to show all truth about the Clintons without any fear. Hillary is dirty playing all time. Just idiots and fanatics of the Clintons don't see big liars that are the Clintons. Why don't show Hillary your tax returns late? I never would vote for Clintons same if Obama for vice. Shame on you, Hillary!

    Go Obama!!!!

  15. Clinton for President!

Read the article. He did not fire her, she quit. Therefore, he didn't keep his word because he didn't fire her, she quit.

Lets hope that voters choose the candidate who takes the high road when they choose. To the comment that Obama weent negative, bull. One of advisers made an ill advised statement and is gone. How is that Obama going negative. Now how about Hillary's advisers and workers? The way she is running her campaign, it appears as if she does not get the nomination, she wants to make sure that Obama loses in November. The Clintons are real old style party boss politicians. Those who say she is a fighter are correct, and that is the problem. If she wins we will have all the partician fighting continuing in DC and nothing will get done and the blame will be thrown around.

Power is one of the most brilliant women of our generation. She has the sexiest brain ever...

It pains me to see her go; this call for Obama to fire her could have been a great platform for turning Hillary's disgustingly negative campaign strategy back at her. If only the American people could live off the mud she's slinging.

Good, now Howard the wolf should take the door as well. Hillary demands standards but keep stanzas? This is the more reason Obama or McCain(if not of the war)should and MUST be president of the United States. People we can respect to keep their words. Hillary wants to destroy her own own party in order to get nominated.

    1. When Obama loses he keeps his cool when Hillary loses hell breaks loose

    2. When rules are made Obama respect but when rules dont favor Hillary she whines and whines and cry

    3. When Obama faulters he apologises when Hillary is caught in a mess she blames someone else( the press, right-wing conspiracy, Obama campaign,G.Bush, Republicans ..........)

4.Hillary fans get it right, Hillary will not and CANNOT be President.Another humble woman will but not egormaniac Hillary

Why resign Samantha? You said the truth; those are the feelings amongst Obama's campaign advisors about Clinton. You are great spokesperson. Obama pretends to be this angelic politician that would rid Washington of politics as usual. Lie! Lie! How can you now claimed to be against the institutions that had made you rich. Your records in Illinois speak different from your pretentious statements.

Aha. Now we see the true colors of Barack Hussein Obama who promises a change but get plagiarism, tells our neighbor that he really doesn't mean it and the becoming negative just like other Washington politicians.
