Obama's campaign manager had some sharp words for Clinton Friday (AP Photo)

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign stepped up its effort Friday to target Hillary Clinton for delaying the release of her income tax returns, saying the New York senator has a "pattern of secrecy" and has yet to be fully vetted by the American people.

"Senator Clinton is one of the most secretive politicians in America today," Obama Campaign Manager David Plouffe said in a conference call with reporters. "She has consistently refused to release her tax returns. They have said they are going to release them around [April] 15, but there is no reason why the prior six years of tax returns couldn't be released right now."

Obama's campaign has long criticized Clinton for not releasing her previous tax returns, though it stepped up its attacks earlier this week. In a conference call the morning after Obama lost three out of the four March 4 primary contests, Obama strategist David Axelrod said Clinton is the least-vetted candidate in the presidential field because of her refusal to disclose the documents.

Clinton's Communications Director Howard Wolfson released a statement shortly after the call repeating recent assurances that the New York senator will release last year's tax returns in April. He also said over 20 years of Bill and Hillary Clinton’s tax returns are already public.

Clinton did release a Senate disclosure form last May that revealed the couple’s joint income for the previous year was upwards of $12 million. But a tax return would present a more comprehensive account of the Clintons’ income, and include revenue sources that aren't required on Senate disclosure forms.

"Considering the huge amounts of money they have made in recent years, they've contributed their money to the campaign, some of those relationships financially have been with individuals who have come under quite a bit of scrutiny for possible ethics transgressions, its essential to know where the American people are getting there money from," Plouffe said Thursday.

"If Sen. Clinton is not being open and honest about her tax returns or her experience on the campaign trial, you have to wonder if she'll be open and honest with the American people as president," he added.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Obama supporters new battle cry in upcoming rallies will be..."Yes we can." and "Show me the Money!"

Roger from Arkansas   March 7th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

Um. I heard this argument before March 4th. It didn't seem to hurt Hillary then, so why should it have an affect now. She said it would be available April 15th. I believe that if there is anything wrong with her tax returns, she would have dropped out of the race by now. She wouldn't have fought so hard to stay in the race just to be humiliated. Common sense.

Jo Ann   March 7th, 2008 6:05 pm ET

The Clinton's are definately does not want some truth revealed on them. It's no secret they want Bill Clinton running things again in U S.
I am personally tired of hearing her whining and complaining and using every dirty trick that she can to get back into the white house.

Wayne   March 7th, 2008 5:59 pm ET

The people were duped. It wasnt the Obama campaign that contacted NAFTA but the Clinton campaign. I find it absolutely amazing. After two days of this story getting out now the Harper government is saying Clinton did NOT contact them. Canada is tampering with U.S. elections. What is this world coming too?

Gerry   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

If there was nothing to hide, she'd have already released them. One to be listed is infoUSA who paid Clinton over 3.5 million dollars.

InfoUSA has been tied to sales of senior citizen databases to criminal companies who scam senior citizens.

Obama, pressure her on releasing the presidential papers as well. They will confirm what she did in the Whitehouse and clarify how limited her "experience" really is.

Also, pressure her on releasing names of contributors to the Presidential library. One contribution alone, is rumored to be over 100 million and tied to a Canadian busnessman who did a deal for a uranium mine in Russia.

The list will go on and on-which is exactly why she's not releasing this information.

Amderican voters have the right to know the truth.

Hillary is an egomaniac she can not win indpendent or disenfranchised Republican votes, both necessary in November.

Hillary=McCain and more of the same.

Independent for Obama. Are people suprised she is crooked?

Brian   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

It can be said that if experience trumps excitement that Nixon would have defeated JFK, but when it comes to the Clintons, age and treachery overcome youth and skill. God help us.

Yes We Can!   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

ALL HE CANDIDATES RELEASED THEIR TAS RETURNS EXCEPT FOR HILLARY CLINTON...

THE CLINTONS ARE BEING SUED BY PETER PAUL IN CALIFORNIA. HE ALSO RAISED MONEY ILLEGALLY FOR HILLARY'S SENATE RATE...WHEN WILL SHE GIVE BACK THAT MONEY SINCE HER MONEY FROM HER SENATE RACE WAS FORWARDED TO HER PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN???

WHY IS BILL ACCEPTING MONEY FROM AN URANIUM MINER WHILE HILLARY SPEAKS AGAINST NUCLEAR POWER.

SHE IS A LYING MONSTER AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED...

D   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

It is funny that Hillary supporters think Obama is going NEGATIVE....

HE IS NOT...HE is just asking for the truth? Did not Clinton ask for his REzsko Case or NAFTA (which was a wrong accusation)

Edward   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Monster Woman – let's see the tax returns – let's see where you and your crooked husband get your money.

Amy   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

True there are 20 years of tax returns out there but if some of you could actually read it says they have failed to produce the last 6 years of returns!! Look, if you and I made the kind of money they did in one year, the IRS would be so far up in your business you could probably ask them to turn off the light as you go to bed. Why isn't she subject to the same sort of torture the rest of us are subject to when it comes to the IRS?

MickyD10   March 7th, 2008 5:34 pm ET

Actually, Kat, of Huntington, West Virginia, Hillary hasn't provided her "tax returns" at all. All the Clintons have done is disclose how much money they've made. There is a distinction there. And why shouldn't she provide them if she has nothing to hide. When running for the Senate she forced her opponant in NY to provide his on the very same grounds that Obama sites. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

eddie   March 7th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

obama is going negative. oh oh. It's a shame too.
Wait, where are the rezko documents? hmm

I think I recall that somone in the past correctly called Hillary a name "that rhymes with witch"? It seems to me that "__itch" and "monster" are probably both correct.

Mike Brian PA   March 7th, 2008 5:33 pm ET

LOL...Tax returns? Obama, please explain to the public for the following things.....

Obama,
1. Bought a house, saved 300k through his friend called 'Tony Rezko'.
2. Successfully delayed 15 parking tickets for over 20 years.
3. Invented a way to vote on tough issues without jeopardize his political future (voting present 150 times, he should patent it!!)
4. Secured most campaign funding among all candidates from big insurance co. (that's why he can't support Universal Health Care!)
5. Successfully hide his middle name – Hussein from Dec 07 to Feb 08. (What else is he hiding? He can not even let people know his real name).
6. Successfully (for a while) fooled US voters on NAFTA rhetoric.
7. Made people faint in rallies. (repeatable results)
8. Made his wife feel proud to be American for the first time of her adult life…
9. Pressing wrong button 6 times without causing major accident or war.

Sarah   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

As always, business as usual for the corrupt Clintons.

Because he ain't from the ghetto.

NY Voter   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

I think it is ridiculous that Obama is going negative and the the media is not reporting the facts equally just to keep their coverage going. How hard is it to find any negative attacks on either candidate or party? Just google their names. So if you show one bad thing Hillary did show one bad thing Obama did. The news media isn't reporting the stories they have become this machine that will do anything to keep ratings up. What is a shame is that so many people listen to them and they should be ashamed of themselves for trying to manipulate the America public.

Hattie / Chicago   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

In regards to the delegates in Florida and Michigan, It seems that the news media and the Democratic party are taking their cues from the Clinton camp.. She says she wants the votes to count believing that she will end up with the majority and "poof " the media makes this the top issue of the day regardless to the fact that both states broke the rules.. To be fair to both parties involved, the delegates should be split down the middle so that the media can move on and start "vetting" Clinton's so called 35 years of experience and the "wink" she or her staff gave to the Canadians regarding NAFTA.

linda   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Hey, Hillary really is a monster. Really. One of the dictionary definitions of monster is," a being whose vicious behavior terrifies and disgusts." Yep, she is definitely a monster. But, what is so puzzling to me is how proud Americans continually support her negative, depressing, unpleasant demeanor and self promoting tactics. Curious to me.

clinton   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Would george washington refuse to show tax returns? No because he was an honest man.

Ginger   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Hillary compared Obama to Karl Rove! Her staff compared him to Ken Starr! I think this is what psychologists call "projecting." No wonder an Obama staffer called her a monster. That's precisely what she is. Let's not forget that when she was asked tough questions under oath about her questionable dealings, her response was, "I don't recall..." I hope someone unearths some video of her less-than-forthright answers when her unsavory past was probed. If she wants a dirty fight, I hope someone will air her laundry.

Alice   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Oh yeah! I can't wait to hear Hillary rebut questioning during her fraud trial in October 2008. Let's see. "I don't recall". "I don't remember that". "I had nothing to do with that". Blablabla.... When is this female finally going to get caught in her lies?

Janelle   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

If she doesn't have anything to hide, then why not release her tax returns? If she hasn't filed 2007 yet, then fine, but release the previous years. She should also release her records as First Lady- let's see what her "experience" really was. If Obama was the one who hadn't released his, the media would be all over the story. Instead, the media makes little news big (the monster comment- OK, it has been taken care of....move on!), and ignores the big news. The fact that Hillary's camp talked to Canada about NAFTA, the Paul lawsuit, etc.

Kidding American   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

Does Mr. Obama think what his wife will do is just signing on agreements and travel around the world after she , if luckly, is first lady?

Karen, NJ   March 7th, 2008 5:32 pm ET

I can't vote for anyone who is so secretive. Hillary needs to answer a few questions as a candidate. Let's separate what her husband did and ask her, WHAT are her foreign policy experience within those 35 years?

What critical meeting has she led abroad?
What foreign president or prime minster has she worked with to revolve nuclear crisis?
What foreign president or prime minister called the white house to speak with her regarding a crisis?
What call has she taken at 3AM regarding national security?

Where's the white house furniture?
Where are those tax returns?
Who is her husband now working with overseas? How many terrorist donated to her campaign?

WE get confused by the name Clinton and allot Hillary Bill's wins but she needs to ask some questions. What has she done in those 35 years that adds up to WASHINGTON Presidential experience?

Ed, Santa Fe, NM   March 7th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Does anybody really doubt that Hillary would stoop to ANYTHING to get elected? Does this remind anyone og George Bush and the stolen 2000 election?

DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!!

Wake up, people! Hillary is a Bush in she's clothing.

Calling Hillary a Monster is like calling a pig a hog.

clinton   March 7th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

There is nothing negative about asking that the american people see their tax returns. Stuff like tax releases prevents corruption. How is this negative.

Sorcha in Venice   March 7th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Clinton claims she is transparent and the most vetted candidate in this election.

It's not going negative to ask her to back up her talk with action.

Release the records, Hillary.

Senator Obama is not being negative. He is merely trying to make sure that Hillary is "fully vetted". He is not suggesting that there may be something unfavorable in those tax returns, as far as he knows

Steve in Albuquerque, NM   March 7th, 2008 5:31 pm ET

Hillary Clinton constantly criticized her opponent while running for NY State Senator for, get this, not releasing his state tax returns!

Was she using Ken Starr tactics then?

What a hypocrite.

I am not responding to this site, but to the Texas caucus and the New Mexico caucus. Why did they take so long to count and the others knew that night. It is tiume for the caucus to go. They do not allow everyone the same benefit of voting. My 88 year old Grandmother would not have a chance to vote. If some one is working during the caucus and cannot get off well they too can not vote. The caucus system is unfair to the American voter. Plus they take so long to count. Four days after the Texas caucus, and still just 41 percent counted. New Mexico took two and a half weeks to count. Down with the caucus. I am glad to see Porta Rico changed their election from a caucus to a primary. Good for them for being fair to their people.

KC, Texas   March 7th, 2008 5:30 pm ET

As usual the Clintons thinking they can do what they want, I have no respect for Hillary Clinton and had enough of the two of themfrom the last time, she started with the negative campaigning, and when Obama, points out a fact about her, then its" he " is being negative, personally, if people can't see what Hillary clinton is and what she represents, then there is no hope. Hillary Clinton the anti-christ.

I agree with the lady from Mich above. If Hillary gets nomintated, then McCain is a shoe in! I will not vote for her. She polarizes everyone!! That is the last thing we need.

Asn an independent, I am going with Obama or McCain. Not that I agree with them 100% on obviously, but a sense of character is #1 and Hillary is out for herself. She is so fake when she talks about her service. LOL. She is on a power trip as far as I can tell.

Hilary is almost 20 years elder than Obama but their money is not more than his.

Please tell how he can earn so much money in so short of time?

If experience as a first lady is just Sign agreement, then is that saying we need also neglect the experience of a president? They looks seem always just signing.

I can not believe that from a senator`s mouth.

here we go...again   March 7th, 2008 5:29 pm ET

You can't say asking to release your tax returns as being negative. Thats like saying its a terrible thing to ask your children for their report card. A negative campaign move would more be like Obama's advisor calling Hillary a monster, and for doing so she resigned from the campaign because Obama wasn't okay with it. Someone prove to me that Obama has been negative. Thanks.

Mike Allen   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Hillary's secrecy is the least of her terrible attributes. All she does every day is to seize on some minor issue and then twist it to her advantage. She is destroying the Democrat Party but is too power hungry to care. Today she once again did her STRATEGIC TRANSFERENCE trick where she picks something she is guilty of and then blames it on Obama. Todays trick was to fault Obama for saying he could get out of Iraq in sixteen months while expecting us to forget that she tried to trump Obama by saying that she would get out of Iraq in sixty days. Does she think we are idiots. Her last trick was to say Obama was two faced on his NAFTA policy while we have sinced learned that it was her staff that contacted the Canadians about NAFTA. Of course she played her trick just before the Ohio vote with no time for the truth to come out. Hillary is the most despicable example of a Maccavellian politician

karen   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

I don't have to wonder if she'll be open and honest with the American People. The Clinton Presidency was chock full of lies – even now, they refuse to release records and I think everyone who's paying attention to Bill has a pretty good idea of why they don't want their income sources exposed. . They aren't going to change now – and they thirive on throwing dirt around to see where it lands. Hillary LIKES bringing others down into the slime – she thinks this is the FUN part. So much for a substantive campaing. I just wish they 'd slither back under the Little Rock where they came from.

Sherry   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Why is Obama slamming Hillary's tax returns, when Michelle Obama's college thesis has been held closed until after the election?
It all should be released, or none should be released.

JoJo   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Oh and one more observation...Clinton attacks because she thinks it the "fun part of politics" while Obama has begun to fight back to avoid being beaten to the ground.

Wants to see the money!   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Doesn't anyone understand why this is so important! Think Cheney and Halliburton! Clinton could have stocks, money coming from or with drug companies and she pushes for health care reform when she could make these companies very rich!

Money is power and they know that full well. Money from corrupt governments in your wallets, etc. This is an integrity issue, Hillary!

She urged her rival to release his returns, so Obama is justified to ask for hers. He has released his long ago.

YEAH   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Clinton should know from the start that her negative attacks on Obama will get more in return for herself, since she has hid way too much behind the campaign. Who want to see two old political couples doing the same old politics again to change the status quo??
Explain and expose yourself to the public, Clinton!

Jeremy, WV   March 7th, 2008 5:28 pm ET

Oh Haley,

It is abundantly clear, that Barack wanted to keep this campaign clean, but when running against Bill and Hillary–it just can't happen. He owes it to his supporters to return her fire, and good for him.

He has gone through two weeks of attack, after attack, after attack. So true to Bill Clinton's words, this campaign will not be clean. Good for Barack–because he is not dealing with average opponents. The Clintons are a very ruthless and mean-spirited team, who will stop at NOTHING to win. They will drag him down to their level, and everybody with him, as long as they get there way.

So good for Barack and good for America. I want him to win, and will be sending another check to his campaign today.

Oh please! Can we get over this? Sen. Clinton has consistently stated they will be released in April. I don't know if it's different where you live, but by my calendar here in MI, it's only MARCH 7th! And, "Michigan uncommitted voter", where have you been for the last 50 years? If anyone is acting "entitled, it's Michelle Obama. Get real. Hillary Clinton has done more for OTHER PEOPLE during her life than Barack and Michelle combined!

Julie   March 7th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

I'm thinking if I were innocent in this, I would delight at plopping my tax info in front of the press and laughing in Obamas face at how foolish he looked. It would pretty much destroy his credibility and make him laughingstock and guarantee her the election...wow, a whole lot of payoff from one quick call to your CPA...the fact that the call hasn't been made or the the "see I told you so" proof remains unseen makes me wonder if she is trying to hide something...or spin something...

and, Like Houston Texas above, I wonder about the Peter Paul case too...geez, how many financial scandals can these people get into. You'd think after the first two, three, four...ten maybe they would learn...

Travis from CO   March 7th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

Anyone who thinks that raising questions about her tax returns is a negative attack is fools. The same fools who voted for her in Ohio. Obama and the American people have every right to know who they are electing. The Dems need to know and understand that if there are shady dealings it will cost this country greatly with four more years of Bush policies unless your a millionair.

The Paul vs. Clinton thing also needs to come out and I think it will closer to PA. Look on youtube and see for yourself about this little lawsuit.

Sean   March 7th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

How is that going negative? He only asked that Clinton release her tax returns. If she has nothing to hide, why not? Shut him down by releasing them and it won't be an issue. The very fact that she keeps delaying and down playing seems more and more suspicious.
I don't get why people are faulting Obama for going negative. Clinton is using the knife and sneak attacking him with all these cheap shot. The campaign is just defending itself. Clinton was the one that went on the negative offensive. Please give me a break about this.

James   March 7th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

Since Obama and his campaign are going negative, how does that make him the politician of change? He is acting just like every other politician. He isn’t change. Why is it that Obama can go negative and attack Hillary and it is ok? But when Hillary attacks Obama people think it’s wrong and they get all heated up about it? How is that fair?

James, NY   March 7th, 2008 5:27 pm ET

Correction: Obama lost two out of four. Hillary did not win Texas. Obama did as far as we know now.

Sam   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Senator Obama has stated that he was a community activist in Chicago. How does a community activist working for the down and out afford a 1.6 million dollar home?

Let's look at those tax returns.

Shannon in Galesburg, IL   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

This is a good strategy for the Obama camp. It's hardline but not really all that negative. The charge of secrecy isn't really a personal smear, and Clinton could easily overcome these accusations by releasing her returns for 2000-2006. If you believe, like I do, that there is something on her return (or, more likely, Bill's since he's now in the private sector) that she does not want brought to light then Obama has her right where he wants her.
This plan could backfire horribly, though, if the returns are released and they're found to be clean as a whistle. I find it a trifle odd, though, that the estimated date of the Clintons releasing their returns has shifted from April 15 to "sometime in April." If she tries to get away with waiting until after Pennsylvania to release those returns, Obama could HAMMER her.

Anne   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

I am a little confused here. As an American, I have been asked to
see a copy of my income tax returns for a loan, to apply for a few
positions, etc. Why has there not been more presure pur upon
hillary Clinton to produce HER income tax returns? She IS running
for the position of the President of the United States, is she not?!
What kind of standard are we NOT placing on this highest office?
I refuse to believe that the people of the United States do not care
about the integrity and trustworthiness of one who is running to
be its President. Hillary Clinton should not be able to run in another
primany or caucus until she produces these documents. What's going on here?

Barb Canada   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Is that all you got Obama?

DB   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Wow, talk about changing the subject! Can it be just a coincidence that the Obama campaign releases this statement hot on the heels of Samantha Power's comments. OK, the "monster" remark can be dismissed as just a shot from a loose cannon, but what about the Iraq statement? Was this merely Power's take, or does it represent discussions within the Obama camp? The voters deserve to know.

All this crap is just dividing the Democratic party when it needs to just step in and pick someone and just get behind them whether it be Hillary or Obama. Both have strong points and weak points but either one is strong enough to take on the republicans and take them down. The republicans have destroyed the economy with all this money spent in IRAQ!!!

Jacob   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

Look everyone, the sooner we all come to the realization that every politicians take kickbacks and campaign endorsements from all sorts of different people the sooner we can decide who is the best person for the job. I am an Obama supporter and think that this is nit picky, he needs to focus on the fact that she has a history of terrible judgments on important issues and not where she gets her money from. I know that she is a liar, but all politicians are. Attack her on the issues guys please!

Jen, Gainesville   March 7th, 2008 5:26 pm ET

On point! Before Bill's first run for president , the Clintons did release the tax returns for a few years. But only years later did we found that the year which they did not release (where they stopped releasing) was exactly the year when they had financial ties that they did not want to disclose. This was reported by the media. Sorry, I do not remember the details.

Are you kidding me with this, this is all the Obama camp can come up with. So what if she hasn't released her tax return, they have nothing to hide. Obama is not gaining ground he is running scared. Everyone say how she can't make it but look she is well on her way and I truly believe she will be in this office. This race has come full ciricle and is no longer about the person but about RACE. Look how this country is divided by balcks, lations , whites and women when we all should be coming toether for the best person and who has the best leadership regardless of their skin. Finally, hy did Obama raise 55million, oh that's right he has OPRAH, please!

hillary (not clinton)   March 7th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

if HRC has nothing to hide there should be no issue in her releasing her past tax returns.

its as simple as that.

her actions are speaking louder than her words by not releasing them.

G.N. Penley   March 7th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

The Clinton's pattern of secrecy? We'll never know how deep it goes, but we all know they have a lot to hide, including a number of mysterious deaths among colleagues, "friends," and workers. The Clinton's–both of them–long ago destroyed any trust the public could put in them. Yet here they are, still in our faces. I'm SICK of them.

B. Smart   March 7th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

Same old politics. Obama your presidency is based on Change. Or is it "JUST WORDS"

HILLARY O8'

Patty   March 7th, 2008 5:25 pm ET

Talk about running on a platform of hope and change and then when getting some negative press for once, after a media love-in from the beginning, his camp turns to the old style politics that he claims to decry.
So the Obama supporters when they know the Clinton's income will automatically feel they can now switch to Clinton since she released her returns? Is that all that has made you Obama supporters until now but everything will change with that magical tax form or just another ruse because you can't run on a platform that is any better than hers?

I cannot figure out 1) why people continue to give money to her campaign... it's essentially just throwing money away because there is no viable mathematical path that she can pull ahead in the delegate count, and 2) why Hillary is going so negative... if she wants the VP spot she should stop slamming the one democrat that can actually win.

Dietrich   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

Firstly, the Obama camp is far from failing mr./ms. haley. Telling the truth is not negative. Although Clinton's distortions (non-truths) are. Hillary has any negativity coming to her and she should reap it without complaining either. Seems ole' Hillary can play all the cards: Gender, Race, Lies and not get called on it. Well hold on to your seat belts b/c if she's about to reap what she sowed then it's going to be a VERY BUMPY RIDE!

Tim   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

Obama has challenged Hillary on
1. her record (NAFTA and the war, especially)
2. the issues
3. her lack of transparency and history of secretive, closed door decisions and maneuvers (healthcare failure in 90s) that loseout the public
4. her negative attacks and distortions
5. Her ties to PACS, lobbysists, and special interests (let's not forget earmarks)

In contrast, she and members of her her campaign have attacked Obama on
1. his faith
2. his ethnicity
3. his name
4. his anti war position
5. everything in the kitchen sink with deliberate misrepresentation and outright twistingt

Oh and please add to that that she and her campaign have insulted millions of voters by calling us gullible, naive, cult members who are apparently too foolish and uninformed to make a rational decision and we don't matter at any rate because we don't live in states that she carried.

I agree that it is foolish to vote for McCain if Clinton is on the ticket and you are an Obama supporter. There are other options. An independent ticket, which is where any true reformer will probably have to come from, or write him in on your ballot. If not, abstain. I will not vote for MCCain. I admire his character and believe he has integrity but I cannot accept tax cuts for the wealthy and endless war. I will not, in good conscience, vote for Clinton. I admire her detailed plans, but cannot support someone as unethical, unscrupulous, and dishonest without any integrity to represent our country.

Abe   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

If she has nothing to hide, why not release her tax returns?? Every single candidate including Edwards, McCain, and Obama have already released their tax returns.

I can understand she may not have filed her 2007 return and she is waiting for the April 15 deadline, but why not release the previous years? Unlesee you are working on refiling your previous returns.

Onyemkpa Chukwuma - Brussels   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

"the evil that women do lives with them"

Senator Clinton is just desperate with a blind ambition to be called a president.

She even said it that she will do WHATEVER it takes to win this election (Texas and Ohio primaries)...!! WHAT MORE DOES THE AMERICAN PUBLIC WANT??

JoJo   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

I see it this way Haley...I teach my daughter to respect others and that attacking others negatively is not the way to gain respect from others. However, if she is constantly coming home with black eyes then she is more than able to fight back. One can only take so many beatings before they must fight back.

Anthony   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

It is obvious that while Obama is try to change our government, Hilliary's primary focus is simply WIN! "By Any Means Necessary". She is using every underhanded trick in the book to champion his movement. My ultimate fear is knowing that they want stop until he becomes one of them. Well I say, keep you head up soldier! If you don't STAND for something, you will FALL for anything. Let her self destruct......

Greg - New Jersey   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

I don't particulary like CNN's sensational "slam" tagline but I agree with the Obama campaign in getting a bit more pointed with their questioning of Clinton's record. When they weren't doing it and were taking all the punches everyone started calling him soft. This is hardly negative campaigning compared to the demeaning, belittling attacks Clintons have leveled on Obama recently. This is a legitimate request for release of information that everyone else has openly provided. If you seem to be hiding something then you open yourself up to this line of questioning. Come on Hillary, release the tax records and let's get back to issue-based campaigning. Unless, of course, you have something to hide!

jason   March 7th, 2008 5:24 pm ET

there is so much dirt on the clintons. She should be grateful that Obama's stance is to not play dirty.

People who are saying Republicans should vote for Clinton. If Obama looses his bid for the Democratic Presidency who do you think (for the sake of the party) he would back?! Just as John McCain backed Bush in his failed bid for the presidency (2000), so too must Obama if he looses to Clinton. Some voters will move away from Clinton in favor of McCain. But, I believe most of the Obama supporters will follow his recommendation and back the democratic nominee. And if you have been paying attention, this has been a record years for the Democratic Party supporter turn-out! Therefore, if Clinton keeps her supports and receive the recommended supporters from Obama she WILL win by a landslide! Is this what you really want? Stop telling Republicans to vote for Clinton!

Yeah Right   March 7th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Going nagative is when a campaign twists someone words, or straight up lies about someone in order to gain an advantage.

Pointing out facts is not going negative.

The Clinton supporters jumped on Obama and the Rezko ordeal but Obama gave the money to charity and is not the one on trial. Obama DID NOTHING WRONG!!

However the Clintons are being sued by Peter Paul in California and this should be questioned. This is bigger than anything that the Clintons can throw at anyone.

These people can't go anywhere without a scandal popping out.

Jackie from Virginia   March 7th, 2008 5:23 pm ET

Senator Clinton will not give the American people her tax return. She is going to lie and steal her way through this. She is going to treat the American people the same way she is treating her tax return. So get ready for more Bush and McCain politics.

You've got to be kidding. The Clinton's ahve financial records on public file for over 20 years. JUST because it isn' what B,O wants to see, she's hiding something. I don't trust B.O and if he gets the nomination will vote republican for the first time in my adult life.

I don't see asking for a thorough vetting as going "negative." Shouldn't we as Americans know what foreign ties and quid-pro-quo deals she and her family are involved in. Hey, I have a security clearance and, believe me, secret deals with foreigners would have prevented me from having access to US secrets. Why should we ask anything less from a presidential candidate? Plus, she hounded her senate rival in NY for his tax records during that campaign. She can't be surprised this is an issue.

Brenda   March 7th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Obama needs to stay on the attack. Hillary have definitely stayed on her attacks of him. Hillary needs to be straight with the American people. Releasing her tax returns will show the American people that she has nothing to hide. Otherwise, everything is very, very suspicious.

Jeff   March 7th, 2008 5:22 pm ET

Interesting to see how Obama's campaign uses the negative attacks when they have previously stayed away from such and claimed to be better than that. If the IRS is ok with her income tax returns, then so am I. Let's spend time on discussing the issues we as a nation have to face with a new President.

This campaign has become a joke. We have men and women dying overseas, folks losing their homes, a health care crisis to focus on and all we are doing is calling our candidates names. I don't care about name calling, tax returns, past scandals, whose thighs are bigger, etc. America needs to get out of the sand box and get real. We are really regressing. If our children acted this way on the playground, we would certainly scold them. Listen to these reporters....nanny, nanny, boo, boo. I am beginning to wonder if America is mature enough to even have elections!

Releasing tax returns is the issue for the IRS to deal with not the Obama's campaign team. Obama doesn't have time to hold oversight hearing on Afghanistan where U.S soldiers are being murdered but Obama has time to enforce IRS rules. Obama has been skipping and missing in action whenever he is called upon to make tough decisions. How can he be a commander in chief with his just words, just speeches and just change? We need a real leader. Someone's tax returns is a matter for the IRS to deal with and not Obama's campaign team.

Wynter (NH)   March 7th, 2008 5:21 pm ET

The level of whining out of the Obama Camp is taking on a life of it's own.

This is simply smoke and mirrors to divert attention from the Rezko Trial that is daily putting out statements with Obama's name included in them in the courtroom.

And all this from a candidate that "claims" to be running a clean campaign! If this isn't "mud slinging" I don't know what else it could be!

Hillary stated when they would be available and we ain't there yet. So keep your pants on Obama!

And by the way, where is the clamoring for McCain's Tax Returns? He still hasn't put his out there.

puppies and rainbows   March 7th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Obama really does not play this game well – he needs to go back to his "hope and change" speeches. Maybe he can blow his nose again and everyone will cheer. Bottom line, this is an OK attack but really not that much and repeating it over and over again makes it look like he has nothing to say.

Obama is great at the puppies and rainbows farce but once the real game gets started he's weak and naive and it's showing in a blantently obvious way.

There are years and years of financial scruntiny on the Clintons. Not to mention that one infamous investigation by an actual intelligent lawyer that turned up nothing.

Did anyone even read Obama's famous tax return? Did anyone care? NO. Non-issue.

Obama went negative – his whole campaign strategy of "hope and change" is now an official joke. LOL.

BNS   March 7th, 2008 5:20 pm ET

Obama is falling for an old trick. Clinton can keep this story going for a week or two, let Obama become screamy for her tax return, release it and, when nothing is wrong, Obama not only looks like a fool, but has wasted 2 weeks focused on something insignificant - something that matters not at all.

Why would anyone think that the Clintons have anything in their tax returns that would be of any harm to them? They have been planning this campaign for ages. Anything untoward has long been purged - or never made it into any tax return - and everything will be fine.

Obama is falling for it, which will show just how much he is not ready for the big time.

calling her "MONSTER", Obama's involvement with indicted REZKO,
PLAGRIARISM, his Flip-flopping on IRAQ and NAFTA, his questionable PATRIOTISM and all other things puts him as the worst

Wake up America.

Kim   March 7th, 2008 5:19 pm ET

So, if there isn't anything to hide.....why on earth don't they just release them? IF there is nothing to hide–releasing them would definitively show that there REALLY IS NOTHING TO HIDE!

The democrats are spending valuable time and dollars doing the republican's job for them...trying to ruin democrats!! Meanwhile, back at the ranch, McCain is sitting back, waiting to see whether there's even anything left for him to do when the dust settles! And, it's entirely possible the democrats will have totally eliminated themselves from the race by the negativity and bickering.

Mr. and Mrs. Clinton need to do the right thing for the democratic party and release the records immediately. If we can see them after April then there should be no reason why we can't see them immediately. If they won't release them, one has to wonder what they are hiding.

As my dear sweet grandmother said, "if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem." Mr. and Mrs. Clinton–all you have to do is release the records and you can prove that you have nothing to hide! On the other hand, if you don't release them .....

Hillary is destroying DNC using negative campaign. She will never get my vote, thats for sure. She is such a disgraceful person who will not hesitate to use her own mysery to win. Although she is not a monster, but is not exactly a decent person. I will in no condition voe for her. PERIOD.

Tiffany   March 7th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

How is asking for her tax returns negative?

If she is lending her campaign money she should disclose where that money came from.

Dem   March 7th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

What Clinton talked about are real issues: Iraq, NAFTA...... April 15th is more than one month away. I do not see any problem for not releasing her tax returns now. Talk real issues, please.

Patrick   March 7th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

Hillary is going to do anything and say anything she can to win. She doesn't seem to care what Americans think. The constant attacks on Obama really need to stop if she wants to look like anything other than a MONSTER.

Jay, NY   March 7th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

The ignorance of Obama supporters never ceases to amaze me. As far as Paul vs. Clinton if you guys would bother to read instead of following the Pied Piper into LaLa Land you would know that Hillary Clinton was dismissed as a codefendent in that case in January of 2008. Not to mention the fact that this is not a federal indictment, this is a civil case meaning there is no jail time involved. There is no federal indictment because there was not enough evidence for that to happen. For all of you who have been distracted by speeches, go out there and learn the facts that have been evolving over the last few months while you were distracted....you will find you missed a lot!

David, Silver Spring, MD   March 7th, 2008 5:18 pm ET

I hope the Obama campaign finds a way to be dismissive of Clinton attacks rather than use the same tactics against her. I would rather they fight fire with water than fight fire with fire.

For instance, Clinton attacks Obama saying that he's disingenuous about getting out of Iraq. Obama should say, "That's just silly. No reasonable person would commit to a plan of action no matter what the situation. Of course I'll talk with our military leaders to ensure we have the best strategy for withdrawal. As Commander in Chief I'm not going to act rashly and expose our soldiers to harm unnecessarily. To do so would be as unwise as Hillary Clinton's vote to start this war.

After further review,Texas   March 7th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

John   March 7th, 2008 5:17 pm ET

I can not believe Senator Clintons tactics to attack Senator Obama about the NAFTA issue but she also did the same thing and CNN or any of the other media has not talked about that and many who decided late were influenced with this tactic by the Clintons that made Senator Obama look bad when she was doing the same thing but did not get caught so her secretiveness is no different then President Bush and VP Cheney administration..

Arthur-Texas   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

The Clintons have been the most scrutinized political figures in American history.
Obama must be getting desperate to think he can find something wrong in Hillarys tax documnets.Obama has to get used to losing without calling for some investigation somewhere. At this rate Obama may lose my support for vice president under Hillary.
Finally ,a warning for him,you will never out Clinton the Clintons...

KHAL Houston,.Tx   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I agree with all of the above,I know them, personally through my late friend Ronald H. Brown....he told me some things that i will not repeat except in a book of "How the Clintons don't care about anyone or anything but themselves. You better wake up America.

Katherine Doan   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Hillary started this. She has to let us know where the money is coming from.

Mike, MD   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

COME ON OBAMA!!! IS THIS IT!!!

Hillary is really saying that if she does not win she would rather have a BUSH 3rd TERM.

She wants to be the first Women President at all cost!! It's Pathetic!!

She is willing to destroy the party and the AMERICAN people for her gain!! SAY THIS and STOP BEING WEAK!!!!!

demos   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Before Clinton ran for president, he refused to release his tax return and we found that he was hiding something that might have prevent people from electing him.
The country will stall with those people in power with bill clinton having deals with terrorist organization.

American   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

I am tired of Obama asking for The Clinton's Tax returns. What does that have to do with the presidency? NOTHING! Obama need to get off of that kick. Most wealthy people don't file taxes until April 15th. What about Rezko? Obama needs to sweep from around his porch before he tries to sweep from around Hillary's porch. Hillary life is an open book. Obama life is a closed book.

Katie   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

WHO CARES about tax returns. Go figure. Obama's camp screws up, and they go back to this petty argument. I don't base my decisions on tax returns.

Bright   March 7th, 2008 5:16 pm ET

Obama's campaign team, please stop acting like you work for IRS. I know large number of people who didn't file their tax returns for one year and IRS went for their soul. I don't think the Clintons are doing anything illegal for not releasing their tax returns. Because if they do, the IRS will go after them and not a first term U.S. Senator Obama's campaign team. If Obama's campaign team wants to enforce any federal laws, I will suggest that Obama holds oversight hearing on Afghanistan to save the lives of our military men and women in Afghanistan.

Camille   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

*rolls eyes* seriously all but this last year are all public record, so if people want to see them that bad, they should look them up.

Yes We Can!   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Why isn't anyone talking about Peter Paul's law suit against the Clintons and the money he raised illegally for Hillary's Senate campaign??

Where are her tax returns???

Why is Bill Clinton accepting money for his foundation from a uranium miner while Hillary Clinton campaigns against nuclear power???

Why isn't more information being provided about NAFTA-gate where it has be discovered that it was the Clinton campaign not Obama, who told Canada not to worry about all that NAFTA talk on the campaign???

The media can jump on a false tip in no time but can't seem to focus on what is really happening in the Clinton campaign.

Randy   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

I have to admit, Obama makes a good point with this. What does Clinton have to hide? She's had years to prepare these tax returns, why can't she release them immediately?

Rose - Baltimore, MD   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

I meant, Monster woman smeared Obama with lies in order to win Ohio, that needs to be brought up. Expose her on the nafta deal with Canada. Please don't be too soft on her. She is taking advantage of the fact that Obama is not practicing old politics. Just quite that Obama! Go extremely negative please, don't pad it, that the languange Clinton understands.

Cathy   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

There is nothing negative in asking for full disclosure from Hillary Clinton. I believe she is trying to hide all the money Bill has made from foreign governments. THIS IS IMPORTANT and I'm glad the Obama folks are finally starting to press this issue.

Secrecy is a personality trait. It has been on display for years, but people aren't paying attention. This is something that will be hard, if not impossible for her to change.

Jim ( Independent )   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

I think the Clintons are about to get a real wake up call. All there dirty laundry is going to be exposed any day now. Hillary and Bill are more crooked then George Bush , and thats pretty crooked.

Nader not looking so bad...   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

I do have to wonder... If the Clinton returns had absolutely nothing damaging in them, why wouldn't she have already made them available? I might buy that their 2007 returns aren't done yet, but what's the problem with 2006 or before? I could cough mine up in a matter of minutes. And the fact it is now ammo for Obama makes me wonder even more! If it is a non-issue, she should provide them and end this argument once and for all.

Liv Manto   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

People dont care really... ALL we care is food nour table. Obama has been mudslinging right and left, he cant even explain Rezko. He sends out negative fliers yet claims innocence on wrong doing. I mean , c'mon this guy cant even take responsibility for his actions. And using another white girl to tell the worls Hill is a monster. Very juvenile tactics, and he wants to be the one who can push the red button? We dont trust this guy. If Hill campaigned in the small states, he wouldnt be blabbering. He just have more money than Hill, giving out concerts right and left, almost buying votes actually. Yet in the end, the real people, not the ones who act like they are in spring break party everyday, voted for Hillary. If I were a superdelegate, I would just stop this insanity and send the party goers home. So sick and tired of Obama.

Kim Lee   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Hillary is such a two faced conniving power hungry Monster. The Obama advisor who called her that should have been promoted . If tricky Hillary released her tax records the voters would see that she is in bed with the same big money power brokers that support the Republicans. Four years of Hillary is just the continuation of the same garbage we have endured for the last sixteen years of the Bush/Clinton dynasty. Please America lets give someone else a chance. It can not be worse that what we have had under both Bushes and Clintonpast.

SLO Bear   March 7th, 2008 5:15 pm ET

Now, I'm sure who would be the more seamless continuation of the last presidency: McCain or Clinton. And I'm getting a lot more scared of the latter.

Matt   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Dishonesty and being a Clinton just go hand in hand like Chocolate and Peanut Butter. She will not release her tax records ever I am sure. And if she did she would probably go to jail for it. Both Hillary and Bill Clinton like to smear the line when it comes to honesty and ethics and when called on it Hillary will first do her psychotic self defense laugh to cover her anger then will seek to redefine what is ethics and the rule of law.

She is a politician by nature and therefor dishonest by nature. Her husband flat out lied to the American people on multiple occasions and she stuck by him. What does that say about her and the friends she keeps? They delayed investigations into their practices for 8 years till they left office and the issue became irrelevant. She stole items from the WhiteHouse and tried to claim them as hers.

How can the American people even begin to think of letting them back in power. Talk about the dumbing down of America, this would be insanity.

In the end she will think of some way to delay releasing these records till after she leaves office just like her files when she was there before. By then the damage is done.

Don't be fooled America. Fool me once shame on them, fool me twice shame on me.

Cheryl   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

"Oh no, I'm not going to resort to negative campaigning or Washington politics as usual." Obama is so hypocritical it isn't funny and will do what any other politician would do to win. Obama's attack is politics as usual and it's time people start seeing him that way.

KOKO   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Interesting, CNN. You decided to repeat this old "news" from earlier this week. Also interesting that you removed the headline story from this morning – "Obama adviser quits after calling Clinton ‘monster’" from having its own direct link after less than six hours. When Bill Sheehan made an equally personal and inapporpriate attack on Senator Obama in December, the headline remained on the front page as its own link for almost two days. What's up with the unequal journalism?

Eric, California   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

The supposed "unity" of Obama and his supporters is proving to be the final death blow of any chance of a unified democratic party this November.

RAF   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

Sen. Clinton has made it painfully obvious that she will do anything to get elected. She accused Obama of having a conversation about NAFTA with the Canadians, playing to the fears of people from Ohio and Texas. However, it is now apparent that she had the same conversation. How dishonest of her to mislead the people who voted for her.
She is hiding many things, that is quite obvious. I wish CNN would give that more air time.

Dan, NJ   March 7th, 2008 5:14 pm ET

She certainly gives the appearance she is hiding something... I don't trust her to begin with, but either:

1. there is nothing to hide and she is creating her own problem by refusing to release it OR

2. she is hiding something damaging that the voters have a right to know.

Either way she is doing the American people a disservice.

Those tax returns may not be "required" on Senate disclosure forms, I do not know, but they certainly should be required for full disclosure to the American people for the presidency! That is a different standard than the senate, and Clinton has been far too secretive in her financial dealings, as has been her husband! She has critized Senator Obama about everything, including the "kitchen sink!" Obama has been restrained in his criticism of Clinton, but this is fair game! What is she trying to hide, anyway?

Angela   March 7th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

Do you people honestly, honestly think that if there was something there so incriminating that she would be running for office? That if there was something there so outrageous that would sink her campaign that she would even bother?

All you conspiracy theorists need to take your medication. Won't you feel a bit stupid when there turns out to be nothing? Probably not – you will find something else to gripe about......

Nice try Obama – guess you are going negative too. Which is ok in politics – but don't stand up and say negative is bad.

Clinton for President!   March 7th, 2008 5:13 pm ET

The Obama camp is desperate, no doubt. Is this the only tactic they can come up with? Pleazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Obama had a bad week because of his mistakes and the mistakes of his economic adviser (Goolsbee) and two of his foreign affairs advisers (Rice and Power). Gollsbee, Rice, Power et al gave Obama a week filled with wonderfully negative ratings.

Obama's supportors love to wave the sign of change but they bring with it a constant rush of hate and negativity towards Clinton and her supporters.

Clinton is on top and has Obama crazy trying to find his mojo. Problem is that he has lost it.

It sounds like Obama is running scared, and rather than discuss important issues where he can't shine, he would rather use distraction with insignificant trivia for talking points. Why else would he go off-topic, if it's not to his advantage.

I recall Hillary saying that these items are in the works, and will be released when they are ready.

I don't understand how Obama is being negative for speaking the truth. However, when Hilliary goes negative and tells untruth her supporters and the media congratulate her for being tuff on Obama. Why can't she be held to the same standards as all of the other candidates? Begin questioning her so called experience and interactions with people who have been engage in fradualent activities and not just take her word for her. Her word and her actions are very different. You right Hilliary, actions do speak louder than words.

Brian   March 7th, 2008 5:12 pm ET

A few slim victories on Mar. 4 (she will have netted about 8 more delegates on the day) does not bring her anywhere close to earning the nomination.

Obama – More states won.

Obama – More delegates won.

Obama – More popular vote won.

Obama – More honest, dignified, accountable, capable of bringing real hope and change to America, ready to lead one day one, and right on our domestic and foreign policy.

Hillary Clinton is driven only by her greed and personal ambition. Don't believe her lies and spin.

OBAMA '08!!!

Hillary's refusal to give straight answers, disclose her records, give details on her resume makes her less than ideal campaign.
Twisted statements, deceit, poor behavior – yes, a monster who stops at nothing.

Much as the Obama campaign has been very positive, on message, and well-run, it appears they will have to change strategy a little bit, and destroy the credibility of Hillary Clinton to move to the next stage...unfortunate but true, that's the way politics has to be played, and with an electorate that is largely lazy and not prone to thiking for itself...if people really tried to find the truth, she should be nailed on one of about 500 different things, but in a sweet gentle way so that she cannot claim to be victim...she is a an absolute disgrace for the first woman with a chance to be president....I would LOVE for a woman to run this country, just not this one... it is also disgraceful that Clinton has yet to release her tax returns as all other candidates for president have...I thought she had promised she would do so in the last election debate "very shortly"...I guess that depends on what the meaning of the phrase "very shortly" is!!

They said that Bill and Hillary Clinton’s tax returns (over 20 years) are already public, but what about the last six or eight years, the tax return would include revenue sources for example Dubai, Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia…etc it will be interesting to see the list of the group funding her. The public need to know about the resources now and not till April 15.

Hillary and the PETER PAUL SCANDAL   March 7th, 2008 5:11 pm ET

Would Hillary be making such a big deal about FL and MI if she were in the lead??? Noooooo!!!! Why weren’t they in such an uproar BEFORE the primaries and broke the rules? I’ll tell you why. They (HRC campaign) NEVER thought they would be where they are at today, which is obvious based on their lack of planning past super Tuesday!!! Hillary, we don’t live in a monarchy and you are not destined for a coronation. The best solution I've heard so far is to just split the FL and MI delegates so they can be seated at the convention.

Now, stop whining and explain yourself about the FRAUD surrounding your NY Senate campaign and PETER PAUL, release your TAX RETURNS, release your White House papers while first lady AND explain Wellesley college thesis paper you wrote when you were a Republican that Bill had SEALED! What’s in that paper you don’t want us to see?

Again: WHAT ARE YOU HIDING???

CNN, if you don’t want to report on this, fine… it’s just a matter of time before either the OBAMA camp or a “real” news network brings worldwide attention to these things…

Hillary2008   March 7th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

oh, please...we all know EVERYTHING about Hillary! Perhaps this is the way ob is trying to get the spotlight off him – you know, answering the Rezko thing. Why don't you explain it ob – explain Rezko, how you buy a house $300,000. below market value with a $500,000 plus garden for free? And Hillary don't release a thing!

I advise ob to start concentrating on what he's going to say at the Rezko trial when called upon. ob don't waste your energy on Hillary, your gonna need for the trail. And by the way, America already woke up from the "hope" dream – we see right through ob. And it ain't looking pretty!

You have got to be kidding   March 7th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

One of the most secretive politicians in America today? Oh please!!! 20 years of hers and Bills tax returns are already out there and she is going to release last years tax returns in April. I trust her more than I do Obama who no one really knows anything about.

I must say – sound like Obama is going negative – what do think Media? Well I know one thing for sure, Hillary can take the punches and does extremely well under pressure and lies. She has not been PROVEN dishonest.

Rose - Baltimore, MD   March 7th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Great but you needs to bring out the Nafta dealing that her campaign had with Canada and substittuted her name with Obama to mear him and lie to people in Ohio to vote for him

Jules   March 7th, 2008 5:10 pm ET

Here is the difference. Clinton supporters will cry that they are being negatively attacled. The truth is, she claims to have all this experience by proximity to Bill, but offers no proof whatsoever and claims that's being vetted? Also, she is more than welcome to delay, delay, delay to April 15 for this year's returns, but what about last year's? The year before? 20 years of open tax documents means nothing if the past 5 years contain something worth hiding from the public. If there's nothing to hide, release them. It's that simple. She made having been vetted her argument. Obama is not going negative-he is challenging her to support that argument with actual proof, not-as she would say "just words".

Jeff   March 7th, 2008 5:09 pm ET

He wants to be the Commander in Chief of the United State of America? Is he a grown man or a little girl? "Show us your tax returns" – believe she said she will do that April 15th. And you are going to show us all your Rezko correspondence when?

For a campaign about change, I keep hearing the same old stuff from Obama. She's said she'd release her taxes in April (mine aren't done either) and if she doesn't then you have something to your case of secrecy. Has Obama released his tax return for the past 20 years? The last I knew, he released his 2006 return and that's it.

Pick a new topic, this one is stale!

I find it the highest form of a double standard that the media is allowing the Clinton campaign to get away with comparing Obama to Ken Starr, and there's little to no response in the negative. Yet, Obama is being slammed. I'm one of those who won't vote for Hillary no matter what. She's the definition of old, sleazy politics!

I don't care about 20 years of tax returns. I care about the last 6 years when they became rich. Notice how the Clinton Campaign never gives a reason they will not release the previous 6 years of returns. They simply brush over that and say they'll release this years tax returns at the latest possible moment. I don't trust it. There's something shady going on here...

INSTEAD OF NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT SENATOR CLINTON?

OR IS THERE NOTHING LEFT?

GO HILLARY WE ARE BEHIND YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Darth Vadik, CA   March 7th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Secrecy, malice, evilness, gluttony, and the rest of the seven sins.

Ron, TX   March 7th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Clinton's secrecy is a perfect example of what's wrong with Washington and what needs to change.

Obama '08!

Ann   March 7th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Clinton is a fraud and a liar. The media got suckered with the NAFTA lie because it was Clinton that went to the Canadians.

Gina   March 7th, 2008 5:05 pm ET

Just in case there is any confusion the meglamaniac I'm reffering to is Senator Clinton.

Obama '08
Yes We Can
& We Will....

CHICANO ART, ARIZONA   March 7th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

You can feel the hatred Obama supporters have for Hillary. Look, I have not completed my tax returns and they are simple by comparison. If this is the biggest issue Obama can raise, I think his campaign is in trouble.

Instead of attacking Clinton, why doesn't he explain why he is qualified for the job of president? Why doesn't he explain why he does not think America deserves universal healthcare? Why should we think he can handle crisis? Why does't he have concrete plans? Why does he tell the American people on thing and tell foreigners other things?

Little Osama is getting silly!
GO HILLARY

Doug in Orlando, Fla   March 7th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

what a joke obama, every1 has til april 15 to file. or do you live in another world. besides i worry more about people connected to people like toney rezko and rv farekan, who have been racist and crooked. then also there is ayers and connections with terrorists that admittedly bom bed nyc police buildings. come on people wake up. obama speaks with a forked tongue....look at naftagate and now iraggate...wow. i won't sink to his supporters level and ask for him to drop out .....i believe every vote should be heard so i will just say this. jimmy carter said he would change the world and it took years to recover from his change. i am not taking another chance like that....i have 4 kids and there future depends on this vote...it will be for some1 i know will do the job. for my kids sake!!!!

Hillary 08 12!!!!!!!!!!!!

MARIA 2325   March 7th, 2008 5:04 pm ET

GO HILLARY !!!!. WE TRUST THE CLINTON FOR THEIR HONESTY AND HELPING PEOPLE IN INDONESIA SUNAME

Justin   March 7th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

These statements about Hillary sound about right to me.

Joe Alonzo   March 7th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

Wow, how about that second-to-last paragraph. "its essential"? "getting there money from"? These quotes came from a conference call, so it was up to the reporter to get the grammar right. Failure.

James   March 7th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

Why won't Hillary release her tax returns? It is a simple process that evokes necessary transparency. Already, a stock deal of Bill Clinton's seems not to be on the up and up. Bill Clinton received 200,000 shares of a worthless stock that an unnamed buyer later paid $700,000 for. The company of the stock Bill Clinton owned appears to be a shell company for the Chinese Government.

Please CNN, start to vet Ms. Clinton and hold her accountable to the public for not being up and up with the American people.

D   March 7th, 2008 5:03 pm ET

I was abt to do that...good Obama did it..

As a McCain supporter- I am loving it

Terry   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Obama '08

Get it straight.

clarity   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Oh, this old gem. Cue the spooky music!

So every time Clinton calls Obama on messing up, he's going to say 'what about your tax returns'? LOL!

She's not hiding anything... she's not even obliged to disclose the info until later on in the year.

He's having so much trouble finding things about her, that he has to try and get the voters to use their imagination!

Believe and have faith in me, but imagine things about her!

Justin   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Obama and his campaign people are HYPOCRITES!

Changing the tone of Washington is what they cry. They want to bring people together. Yet, the Obama campaign manager is questioning Senator Clinton's character and another staffer called her a "monster".

I know it's been a tough week for them, but that is no way to run a campaign run on changing the tone of Washington. People are learning more and more about how he is not too different from the people with more experience.

The Obama campaign needs to talk about the issues, his experience, and how those 2 relate to each other rather than questioning someone's integrity. This DIVERSION from the issues is akin to that of the REPUBLICANS and the BUSH ADMINISTRATION.

TJ from Detroit   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Is this the best the Obama camp can do, release her taxes. They should know by now the Clintons know how to hide things if they need to.

How about attacking her on the issues.

HH   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Hillary should be done after losing 12 IN A ROW she should of been gone, as if it was Obama you know he would of been chased out. The media keeps giving her a second chance. GIVE IT UP HILLARY YOU ARE JUST HELPING JONN INSANE. Why dont you just join him INSANE/BILLARY 08. Sounds like an excellent ticket.

Wei   March 7th, 2008 5:02 pm ET

Obama can't find an important issue to attack, how lame....
Don't forget clinton has planned to run for president for years, it's impossible for her to be so careless.

JD in AZ   March 7th, 2008 5:01 pm ET

Is the the new kind of politics we can look forward to? Don't they have better things to do, like maybe convincing more people he's the better choice so he gets enough votes to actually win the nomination?

The kind of politics I'd like to see is for the candidates to tell me why I should vote for them. I'm tired of hearing why I shouldn't vote for the other ones.

I'm looking for change, but Obama hasn't convinced me yet that he can deliver it.

jeffrey   March 7th, 2008 5:01 pm ET

why is it every time the obama camp/ cnn has a bad day they ask for her tax records.....its not sticking guys.....find something else.....shes said by april 15th as she has every year scince shes been in the public eye...they will be public....not before ....and the voters seem to be ok with that...she did win 3 out of 4states after you threw this at her in the debate....and honestly......acording to "THE RULES ".....its not require untill she gets the nomination.....

Gina   March 7th, 2008 5:01 pm ET

Why would anyone vote for this meglamaniac? Look it up supporters.

Mike A   March 7th, 2008 5:01 pm ET

yet again here is another example of how Obama is a phony. I thought he was the politics of hope and change but you can see hes like the rest of them. How many people actually think that in reality we will be out of Iraq but next year? it's virtually impossible and both Clinton and Obama know this

Lioness   March 7th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Plouffe and Axelrod tell it like it is. Clinton has NOT been fully vetted. In fact, that was the problem with the Clinton years. Both Bill and Hillary refused to disclose, were secretive, and many times lied.

Hillary is certainly the most qualified candidate in this respect: secrecy. She is better suited as head of the CIA than as a president accountable to voters. Monster in desguise.

Obama 08   March 7th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Now you got it Obama. Keep it up. Next, go after her 35 years of experience claim (maybe a TV spot). We will see the wicked witch shrivel up like she did in the wizard of oz.

JAC465   March 7th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Why can't people see through her? She is saying and doing anything to get the Clintons back in office. It's more of an ambition rather than fixing what is broken.

spirit of america   March 7th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Looks like Obama is getting pretty desperate and clutching for straws. Disclosure works both ways. How about full disclosure of all of Obama's dealings with and donations/benefits from that corporate crook from Chicago on trial now?

andrew jones   March 7th, 2008 5:00 pm ET

Game on...Let's take this fight to the Clintons!

"If Sen. Clinton is not being open and honest about her tax returns or her experience on the campaign trial, you have to wonder if she'll be open and honest with the American people as president," I doubt!

The Billary Clintons are not honest Americans and I doubt if it's a wise decision to give them a second shot in the white house!

VOTE OBAMA!!!!

Dan Hussein Smith, TX   March 7th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

The truth is, this campaign is already over. We are now just seeing how Obama deals with the media.

Seems like he's doing quite well.

Clinton is all drama and no substance.

aimee   March 7th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Secrecy, he is talking about secrecy!! What about his lies and deception about the property dealings. Come on folks!! He's a fast talker and he has many hidden secrets. Go to his church website. What is that about. If we had an all white church we would be called racist. Read all about his church.... If this is the biggest skeleton he can find on Clinton... big deal!! Hillary will help your country in the long-run not Obama.

Farrell, Houston, Tx   March 7th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Americans expectation of the Clintons being open and honest is dillusional, never have been and never will be, they lie their way out of everything. Bill even traded in his law license to avoid impeachment.

Gonzalo   March 7th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

This is what the Obama campaign calls fighting back?! Way to attack her on the issues. This is equivalent to Hilary's plagiarism attacks. Basically a non-issue. Obama and Hillary are both rich do I really care how rich; no. The Obama campaign needs to do better if they plan to win the nomination.

Jessica   March 7th, 2008 4:59 pm ET

Why isn't the media covering HILLARY's dealing with CANADA AND NAFTA??

Why isn't the media covering HILLARY's dealing with CANADA AND NAFTA??

Why isn't the media covering HILLARY's dealing with CANADA AND NAFTA?

When is the media going to be accountable?
Who is the media accountable to?

SD   March 7th, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Ask CNN who doesn't want the public to know how Ohio voters were flimflammed on NAFTA-GATE, the truth has come out who lied, hmmmm
please show us the TAX RETURN Hillary i want to know if you benefited from Bush tax cuts

Justin   March 7th, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Oh for crying out loud, I am tired of hearing about the stupid tax returns. If she doesn't release them by April 15th then there will be a problem. If there is something odd or bad in the tax forms it does no good to hold out until April 15th, because she is expected to lose all the contests between now and then until Pennsylvania which is after April 15th. So if there was something bad in them then it will damage her in Pennsylvania. What is the big deal? Its not like she can change them between now and then. This is just another attack from the Obama camp just as the recent comments by Obama's advisor Power were an attack from the Clinton camp.

Kramer   March 7th, 2008 4:57 pm ET

Oh, you KNOW she's got secrets! She and Bill have been hiding things from us for decades now. This is why the Republicans want Hillary to win the Democratic nomination. They have a war chest of criminal behavior (impeached Pres for lying under oath to a judge), and numerous questionable relationships that are FAR worse than Rezko (who Obama gave away his donation anyway).
The Republicans are just HOPING the Dem's hand them Hillary to run against. They know they may not be able to beat Barack Obama, for he's the True Hope of Our Nation!

CW in Dixie   March 7th, 2008 4:57 pm ET

She's rich, get over it.

BO bought a $300.000 house....does this mean he's poor?

PULEEASE!!!

*WHACK!*

*POUNCE!*

*SOCK!*

pnr   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

What would her tax return show?

Obama shoud get back to his hope and head in the cloud speeches. Didn't he claim to keep to the high road. Does he want to get in the trenches with Hillary?

She's taken a lot of hits over the years and is still STANDING. She's one tough cookie.

HILLARY FOR PRESIDENT !!!

Derrick   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Are you kidding me?! The Obama camp is whining over Clinton's tax returns? Who CARES?!!!

I only care about my tax returns, not hers! What does knowing the Clinton's tax returns have to prove?

The Obama camp is SURE TO LOSE if this is all they have!!!!
We WANT SOLUTIONS, NOT CRY BABIES!!!

Yes we will!

Yes we will!!

Go Hillary 08' 12'

brettjay   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Thank You!!!

Llen   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

I like how Plouffe has tied "the missing tax returns" argument with Hillary's "experience." Both emphasize problems with transparency and honesty in her campaign.

Floridian   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

Agreed, but please don't go super-negative, Obama campaign! If you just wait, she will put her foot in it and you will end up winning the nomination anyway because she can't catch your delegate lead.

Please, just don't screw this up by trying to play her game with her – you can take the high road and win, but don't try to sling mud better than Hillary Clinton. That is one contest you WILL lose. She has "35 years of experience" at getting uglier than you can imagine.

Barack Oprah   March 7th, 2008 4:56 pm ET

When Clen boy get dirty, there is no way to survive.
When New guy does just like old, there is no way to win.

He is not only clean enough, but also not dirty enough.
He is not only new, but also not old.
The answers is nothing....

YEA!!!!!   March 7th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

It's about time! Where is the "fair" news coverage? It's about time the Clinton News Network doesn't fall for her lies and deceit and starts digging up some of this "vetted" candidate's dirt. No tickie, no washie. No tax returns (which are certain to have contributions from all kinds of dirty lobbyists and politicians), no Presidency.

SHAME ON YOU HILLARY CLINTON!

John, Las Vegas, NV   March 7th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

Gee, the Clinton's are secretive? That IS a shock. Well, I guess it depends on what your definition of "IS" is.

John   March 7th, 2008 4:55 pm ET

I think that there's something I want to say before people come along and start saying Obama is "just whining"-

If Obama's whining by saying this, then Clinton is somehow not whining in the article one down from this one? I just can't understand it. It's really very important to know where these people are getting their money. Anyone who knows basic US history will agree.

Frank in Missouri   March 7th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

Would you guys have a few more Clinton photos ? I think there is still one or two stories in the news ticker without your Clinton's picture on.

Gorbashov, Long Beach, Ca.   March 7th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

When is Billary going to demand Wolfson's resignation for the "Kenneth Starr" comment?

What about her reverse NAFTAgate? Part of her alleged experience was signing NAFTA! Nice judgement!

Peter Paul lawsuit? CNN where is the coverage of that?

What's she hiding in those tax returns?

Hillary, pls. put aside your ego and do what is right for the country and our party and drop out. Stop tearing our party apart you Republican tool!

Joyce   March 7th, 2008 4:54 pm ET

Clinton should release her taxes ASAP if there is nothing to hide. What's all the secrecy about.

The public need to know if she is getting money from any of the special interest groups and that will be reviled on the tax return. What about it Hillary the voters want to know.

Jon   March 7th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

Oh my god. Where has David Plouffe been for the last 7 years??? The liar in the Oval Office is the most secretive politician EVER!

Hillary Clinton has been vetted more than anyone in history and for longer. B.O. is the one that's not been fully vetted.

What a dolt.

Another half truth.   March 7th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

Over and over again she has stumbled in debates about the White house files and Her finances. If the people cannot see that she can be transparent than many people can be prepared for the same kind of devisive antics but from a Democratice side. My concern is if she thinks that this is an bad coming from Obama...what will the Republicans do to her. If she wants to shut up the Obama campaign, then release the documents....that includes putting efforts to release the White house files.

Long-term Memory   March 7th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

"Secretive" is awfully hyperbolic and inflammatory. How about she's reserved (a sign of strength after all the public scrutiny)? How about she's cool and collected (quite a feat after all the public scrutiny)? How about she's aloof (who wouldn't be after all the public scrutiny)? How about private (good for her that she can maintain her private life after all the public scrutiny)?

And by the way, I don't think she's the one accused of keeping the media at bay or not answering their questions.

Mercedes   March 7th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

BY TIME OBAMA AWOKE!!!!!! Hillary MUST show us her income tax papers and her documents from the 8 years she spend in the WH. I personally want to know where those years of real experience came from. If she claims to have so much good judgment than proof it with documents. I'm 36 years old and I voted for her husband in the 90's but it won't happen now. Also, she must release Howard Wolfson from his duties. How dare him compare Obama to Ken Starr. Last of all she has to stop the bs with the McCain has more experience than Obama. He's not a democrates and that is foul.

Gorbashov, Long Beach, Ca.   March 7th, 2008 4:53 pm ET

And how is a tax return going to help be a better or worse President? Obama, stick with the program or no one will ever believe you. You are sounding like someone from Washington and you hardly have been there!!!

Linda   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

People who even THINK she will be open and honest with the American public are delusional!

Rick   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Oh Hillary was called a monster, shame shame, she is not a monster, she is a person with no integrity nor does she have any consideration for truth and full disclosure. She also has no respect for the American people, if you read her statements its always Me Me Me, not We. She does not want to change she just wants to control and thats the sames as dictating.

Mike Brian PA   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Obama campaign manager, please don’t make you look more stupid in front of the public media.

We all know Senator Clinton’s tax returns for the past 20 years are public. If you can’t find it, that’s your problem. You need to hire better staff.

As for her last year’s return, she has all rights to release it until April 15th, she can also file an extension… LOL. I can’t believe you people are sticking around with this issue.

Please come up with something better!

Joyce, NY   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Can't he come up with anything new? Talk to us about issues – economy, foreign affairs, security. That's what we want to hear about.

Keep focusing on mud sling when you yourself isn't exactly squeeky clean.

A. Harrison   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

After your campaign shows signes of collapsing......Desperation. You can smell it.

Vote Hillary 2008!

franklahai   March 7th, 2008 4:52 pm ET

Here is what Tim wrote

She is so awful. I am constantly amazed at the stupidity of most Americans. First they put Bush in the White House (for 8 years) and now they want to put this charlatan in the White House. This country is the leaders of the free world? America lives in a constant state of fear because their politicians shove it down their throat. The rest of the world is pulling for Obama.

globescout   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

It's always about the Clintons, according to Obama's campaign. Why don't they have their man stand on his own two feet, and put the spotlight on him, and leave it on him, instead of marketing him with sound bites and chants, then hoping to keep him propped up by scruitinizing Clinton?

Obama, stand on your own two feet and accomplishments, whatever they are!

sw   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

It is still March!!! what is the point you call out people to release their tax return now???plus, considering so many Clinton haters out there, if there is something wrong with their income, don't you think it will be already leaked(accendentally) from IRS? or IRS already inspecting them?

Plus, Has Obama finished his tax return yet? probably not, he is too busy with his political positioning, he hasn't even had time to hold one single meeting with NATO regarding the war on terror inn Afganstan yet.

Harvey   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Hillary 08

A. Harrison   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

HIllary 2008!

I P   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Hillary Clinton is well on her way to steal this nomination from Obama. It will happen in broad daylight and in front of everyone's eyes. And Americans will forget about it as easily as they forgot Al Gore's bid and the Florida vote. This is the great American Democracy. Cheers !!!

Lanae   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Why is this such big news. The clintons are the biggest con artists out there and they will always be caught up in some sort of scandal. I am tired of them and wish they would just GO AWAY!! And Samantha Powers comments about hillary sounds about what us african american voters feel about her. We hate her, despise her and feel that she has been a total witch this primary season and we will not vote for her PERIOD!!!
Just a word of caution to the hillary supporters..According to most of the urban radio stations I listen to, if hillary "STEALS" this nomination thru back door deals, we are having a BLACK OUT which is already being planned and voting independent in the Fall. Ralph Nader was on Al Sharpton yesterday and he is aware of the plan. As an african american voter, I will slit my wrist before I cast a vote for that evil, coniving woman. And according to my estimates miss HILLARY can't win without the black vote which makes up 50% of the democratic party. It is virtually impossible for hillary to catch obama and the only way she can win is if the superdelegates give her the nomination. So she can attack attack attack she still can't catch Obama in the pledged delegate count and that includes Florida and Michigan.
.

Edgar   March 7th, 2008 4:51 pm ET

Obama is getting desperate!!!! Tax records – OMG! Defect to the Obama camp!

Kat, Huntington, West Virginia   March 7th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

Boy, Barack really is a sore loser isn't he? Look get over this tax thing. Hillary has released her taxes each year she was in public service and this year will be no different. Do you think that this year is special and she is holding back some deep dark secret? Come on, this is just another smoke screen put up by BO to keep people from looking at the real issues. Besides remember most Americans know what it takes to be president. Just ask Ohio. And remember as Ohio goes so goes the country!!!!!!! Hillary08!!

Drake   March 7th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

sexist SEXIST and more SEXIST...give me a break...that is what he finds fault with Hillary.....
This country is so sexist...........it is just sad

NoBama   March 7th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

If Obama and his camp can't pull it together... and Soon! I might be switching my vote to McCain.

Liz   March 7th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

Clinton said she would release them by April 15–Now whey doesn't Sen Obama release the names of the charities he supposedly gave his campaign contributions from Rezko to? Also, Please explain how a well educated person with above average earnings like himself could tour his prosepctive house (which he did buy at a reduced rate) with Rezko and then call it a "mistake"

Celia   March 7th, 2008 4:50 pm ET

The last paragraph was fairly and nicely put!!! I am proud of him!!! I am so pleased that we have Senator Obama to represent us!!! I am so ready for things to be different. If there wansn't anything to hide, they would have been making copies of that stuff the day after the last debate gladly and it would be a non-issue. I am so very proud of Senator Obama!!! He doesn't have to be nasty to be strong. Sometimes people get it confused, bullies are insecure, they are not strong.. He has proven to me that he is strong!!!

Troy   March 7th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Hillary, this corrupt monster, has been bankrolled by special interests and crooks. She can only lie about it for so long (she learned how to lie from her husband, Bill). Couple that with the fact that she's supported by the uneducated and hispanicsm. And we want her to our US President.

OBAMA OR MCCAIN/RICE '08!!!

Here we go again   March 7th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Obama needs to just go home, does anyone really know if Obama donated that money to charity that he got from his hoodlum friend? Where is the proof?

Obama is not seasoned enough to run this country! And anyone who thinks he is should go back to their caves!

Adam - TX   March 7th, 2008 4:49 pm ET

Can the Obama camp get any more desperate and can his supporters become any more bitter? Geez...so his hype is falling to the ground. Relax...we're all democrats here. Jump off the train before his advisers run him into the ground.

For all those Obama supporters, Sen. Clinton said she was TOUGH and a FIGHTER and she's showing it. Stop whinning, your candidate has messed up and he's paying the price GET OVER IT this is politics!

And if you think one person is going to make a difference in WASHINGTON you are as DELUSIONAL as your candidate!

I'm with you "President Hillary Clinton"!!!!!!

Jay   March 7th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Thats all you got Obama. Cry Baby!!

She dosent have to release them until everyone else has to. You dont make the rules. GROW UP!

Michigan uncommitted voter   March 7th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

Senator Clinton is not about what she can do for the people of America. Who are we kidding? We all know deep in our hearts that it is about her wanting to be president for the power of it all and her since of entitlement. Senator Clinton’s behavior has surprised me. I am in my late fifties and know she feels she is privileged and above others. She has changed her position on several issues. President Clinton and his political mobsters promised the Presidency it to her for staying with him through all of his misdeeds. The more I watch with is going on the more I see the cruel person she really is.

Haley Rodman Clemson   March 7th, 2008 4:47 pm ET

When all else fails, go negative. Obama's finally become what he said he wouldn't. Looks like the political world is back to normal. Now we have liberals fighting over which protected group they would rather hand a "first" to.

vanchava   March 7th, 2008 4:46 pm ET

THE LONGER IS KEEP HER TAX AND FIRST LADY DOCUMENT HIDDEN THE MORE IT WILL HURT HER ESPECIALLY WITH PENN COMING UP AND OBAMA GAINING GROUND.

Houston Texas   March 7th, 2008 4:45 pm ET

What about Paul v. Clinton in California? If convicted, she will be the first president to take the oath of office from prison.
