Girl in Clinton ad supports Obama

CNN

Watch Casey Knowles on American Morning Monday.

(CNN) - Casey Knowles has graced the airwaves this month as the unwitting star of a headline-grabbing campaign ad for Hillary Clinton. But the 17-year-old is hoping to grace the small screen this campaign year for another presidential hopefully: Clinton’s Democratic rival, Barack Obama.

Stock footage of an 8-year-old Knowles sleeping – shot when she worked as an extra in TV commercials - was used in Clinton’s “red phone” ad, which asked “Who do you want answering the phone at 3 a.m.?” in the case of a foreign policy crisis.

But the high-school senior – who will be eligible to vote in the general election – is actually a passionate supporter of Barack Obama’s, and has been volunteering for the Illinois senator’s campaign.

“I think it would be wonderful if Barack Obama and I could get together and do a counter-ad,” she told CNN Saturday.

Appearing on CNN's American Morning Monday, Knowles said she was shocked to discover she was in the commercial, and said it made her feel disloyal to Obama.

"It makes me feel a little disloyal and kind of," she said. "It hurts that footage of me would contribute to a candidate that I'm not necessarily supporting. Hopefully Mr. Obama would forgive me. "

Knowles, who lives in Washington State, also said she plans on helping Obama in Oregon ahead of that state's primary in May.

"They want to get me down there and hopefully get me to help support and get campaigning going on down there," she said.

In Wyoming on Friday, Obama told voters at a campaign event that people shouldn’t worry about what he’d do if an emergency 3 a.m. call came into the White House when he was president.

“What do people think I’m going to do? I’m going to answer the phone,” he said.

"WHERE IS THE RESULTS FROM THE TEXAS CAUCUS?????
Why is no one reporting on this???"

I tried replying earlier but I guess it was not accepted due to citing a different blog. Last night, on a different (reputable) blog, someone stated they were a delegate from TX and had just received a call with the results that Obama got 7 more degelates overall. I have not been able to find this officially on mainstream media yet either. I will leave off my sarcastic comment on why I think that is so this can be posted.

OBAMA IS NOT A BAD PERSON, BUT BECAUSE OF HIS TOTAL LACK OF EXPERINCE HE IS NOT ABLE TO COUNTER THE ATTACKS (ALTHOUGH VERY LIGHT SO FAR) THAT HAVE COME HIS WAY. AND I DONT THINK THAT HE WILL STAND MUCH OF A CHANCE IF THE REPUBLICANS PUT FORTH ANY EFFORT ON PUSHING THE ISSUES AND QUESTION HIS EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, OR HIS STANCE ON MANY TOUGH ISSUES THAT ARE OUT THERE. AND WITH HIS NAFTA-CANADA DEAL, AND THE FACT THAT SPEACHES ABOUT CHANGE AND HOPE WILL NOT DEFLECT EVERY OTHER POINT BROUGHT UP BY ANYONE WHO IS AGAINST HIM, I THINK HE IS A MUCH WEAKER CANNIDATE THAN MANY PEOPLE SEE HIM AS. EVEN WITH THE BIG BLOWS HE HAS TAKEN FROM HILLARY, AND HER NOT SEAMING TO WANT TO PUSH HIM TO MUCH ON IT. I THINK MCCAIN WILL BREAK HIM UNDER THE PRESSURE IF HE IS PUT THERE. SO LETS GET HILLARY THERE TO FIGHT IT OUT AGAINST MCCAIN, AND ASK OBAMA TO GIVE US SOME HOPE AS A V.P. AND THEN IN 4-8 YEARS WHEN HE CAN SEE WHAT IT TAKES TO GET THERE WE CAN PUT HIM UP AND EXPECT HIM TO WIN. AND A FURTHER NOTE. LETS RE-DO IF POSSIBLE THE MICHIGAN PRIMARY, IT WAS NOT FAIR THE FIRST TIME. AND AS FAR AS THE FLROIDA CONTEST, I DONT SEE HOW IT COULD HAVE BEEN ANY FAIRER. NO ONE CAMPAINGED, MADE APPEARENCES, OR HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT AND THE POEPLE VOTED. EVERYONES NAMES WERE ON THE BALLETS. SO LET THOSE VOTES AND DELEGATES STAND WHERE THEY WERE CAST!!! AND NO MATTER WHAT, WE HAVE TO SEAT ALL OF THE FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN DELEGATS EVEN IF THERE IS NO RE-DO. WE NEED THEM THERE TO SETTLE THIS OUT, AND THE QUICKER THE BETTER!! THANKS.

yet again, I love the irony. Hilary no one wants you as president. I mean what ther politican in the world, other than some who is strictly in it for power, would still say they are in it after 11 losing contests in a row. Its only because republicans voted for so that this circus could continue and the fact it was yours and not baracks campaign that was lying about NAFTA. And we found this out conviniently the day after the election. GO figure. If this kind of stuff happened once an a while I might say coincidence but when its every election everytime it starts slipping away from you I believe it is all planned and rehersed. Americans are not stupid we hav figured you all out, 2008 is when you are going to be stopped.

This can be a big deal if Obama's people are smart. This girl should be flown to Pennsylvania and be on Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg TV news before the 3 a.m. ad starts running. It's important because she was portrayed as not having a say in who protects her in the ad, and being at the mercy of the president. But in fact, there's nothing to imagine about who that little girl would pick if she could. She has a voice just like a 40 year old or a 60 year old. Her opinion, but more importantly her vote counts same as you and me. Get over it.

Hey Obama supporters and Obama CNN: Isn't it more important knowing that your advisors and staff members, whom you do know and whom you selected , go around and contradict all of your statements on issues that actually matter to us voters rather than knowing who's the child in your tv commercial?

"Since we all know kids who doesn't have anything to woory about supports OBAMA. People who needs health care, strong economy & world peace supports Clinton."

I guess kids don't need healthcare, a strong economy and world peace?

Hillary Clinton needs to get out of the race so the Democrats can start focusing on the real target. The numbers don't lie.....

After crunching the numbers from RCP Obama wins if he averages just 46.4% percent of the remaining pledged and unpledged delegates. He will go over the halfway threshhold while Clinton can not if she doesn't get at least 59.5% of the remaining delegates. If Michigan and Florida end up revoting the numbers change slightly (because the number needed to win increases) with Obama needing just 47.4% and Clinton needing at least 56.9% of all remaining delegates.

If Obama gets any higher than the 46.4% in any state the the less percentage of delegate he will need. If Clinton gets and less than the 59.5% the percentage needed goes up for her and so on.

The race is basically over and this is why the Clintons are begging for the SPLIT TICKET. Clinton needs it, Obama does not. Clinton needs Michigan and Florida, Obama does not. Let's end this mess because the numbers don't lie.

What happened to real journalism? Ask the "girl" if she knows who Golda Meir was, or who Maggie Thatcher is...or Queen Elizabeth I (Not QEII) for that matter all strong female leaders who were not elected on their looks or smile...and they changed the world...in fact at least one was not elected at all...but that would be too much history or leaders of substance for today's market and today's journalists...

Okay, to clarify some things here that I read.

    1) Casey is old enough to vote ... she's 18.
    2) She was 8 years old when she was filmed like this for another ad. This is old stock that the Clinton campaign apparently found and decided to use without her consent.
    3) Why are so many people asking why is this news? First of all, It's not like CNN is the only network running this. It appeared on both ABC and NBC as well this morning and granted its not up there with what we should really be concerned about (the economy, this never ending war, etc ...) it is news, because it concerns 2 candidates for President of the United States.
    4) The girl didn't know anything about the ad until her brother saw it on TV and told her about it.

Who cares who this little girl is supporting? No one said all actors have to agree with their subject-matter. This is just the media taking another cheap shot at Hillary.

I'm not sure of what's going on with this blog/tickler but I've sent 3 separate e-mails responding to this. The first one pretty much emphatically stated shame on CNN and Greg, Pennsylvania. The negative taste that this Democratic Primary is leaving in many mouths across America resounds of a vivid 11/7/00 election where the Supreme Court hand picked America's 43rd President. The second e-mail then listed all of Barack Obama's congressional accomplishments. It's amazing how none of the fairly intelligent e-mail replies get posted. I see that CNN is just as guilty as all other news venues posting only what you feel will give your network relevant controversy. You're nework mantra of keeping them honest is a bunch of crap. I just know and accept the fact that this too won't be posted. Unbelievable and as earlier stated shame on you CNN.

This is rich only the Clinton's would try to spin there losing into a disaster. Obama's the front runner like it or not and he has stuck to the rules of not only the DNC, but his own campaign. The Clinton's are so despite to get back in the White House no only would Hillary lie, cheat, steel or undercut her opponent. She'd try to rip the Democratic Party apart while endorsing Sen. McCain, because she's losing. This behavior doesn't make her tough, but it does make her a degrading human being. She's obviously in co-hoots with so many that a dream ticket would go against every thing that Sen. Obama represents. The DNC needs to do the same thing that the Republican Party did. Take control and endorse Sen. Obama while they steal have a party to work with

If this girl has taken part in the caucus in Washington, that means that she will be 18 before the election this year. That gives her as much voice as any other voting adult. And if she is getting involved in the state level party, and going to their convention as a delegate, that gives her more voice than many, since she is taking the responsibility.

You shouldn't belittle her because she is young. You shouldn't say that she doesn't know what she is doing. I admit many people follow Obama because they want to follow the crowd, but there are other people who are actually making an informed decision. Contrary to some people's beliefs, Clinton is not the only candidate worth voting for. We can do our own research, and come to our own conclusions. Being young is not something bad. We have responsibilities once we reach majority, and thus we deserve a voice in the direction our country takes.

As an independent Canadian looking in, it is hilarious to see the type of people who support Hillary, they are much like her. All the facts and realities mean nothing, they will say whatever to support her and just turn a cheeck for anything he has done. All her claims are false as to her accomplishments. He has done it all, she is simply Bill's wife or would never have been senator or in this race. That really is her only accomplishment. Same as Bush the 2nd. If he was not George Bush Sr son he would never be anything, and look what happened when he became president. She has had it all handed to her, she knows nothing about truely being a leader, and that is what the US desperately needs.

People who support obama are young, eloquent and know what the future holds for them unlike the clintons supporters who are old weary and uneducated It would be very disappointing if we let those Old folks decide the future for us when most of them might not live to see it so Obamacans both independents, republican and democrcts go and vote because those old folks voted bush and now they want clinton. I guess it time America hears the cry of we youths and young adult for CHANGE.

Congratulations to Sen. Obama on his VICTORY in Texas! I understand that he is going to end up with three more delegates than HRC. Since delegates are what matters in this election, she can no longer claim victory. When will CNN change the map to reflect his victory. While they are at it, CNN should change Nevada too, since he won more delegates there. If HRC wants to claim victory, shouldn't she have actually won? Please don't tell me she won the popular vote. We learned as dems in 2000, that the popular vote victory is not a victory!
