(CNN) – Mississippi Democratic voters view Barack Obama more honest and trustworthy than Hillary Clinton, exit polls indicate.

Roughly 7 in 10 voters said Obama was honest and trustworthy, while only a little more than half said the same for Clinton.

But Clinton voters appear to view Obama in a more negative light than Obama voters view Clinton.

Greater than 9 in 10 Clinton voters said Obama was not trustworthy, while roughly 7 in 10 Obama supporters said the same of Clinton.

Amen!

Joanna   March 11th, 2008 8:43 pm ET

Can anyone calculate the voters state by state? I do think Hillary won more voters but less delegates now. Because in the big state, a pledged delegate represents more voters than in the small state. And in the primary, a pledged delegate represents more voters than in the caucuse.

I don't trust Obama at all. Everytime he loses he pushes the panic button and out comes the race card, as was the case after NH and after Clintons latest wins in Texas and Ohio.

The disparity in favorability of the opposing candidate only demonstrates that Clinton supporters are more bitter than Obama supporters.

Which would explain why they support Hillary.

Pennsylvania for Obama   March 11th, 2008 8:46 pm ET

Obama is viewed as more honest……makes sense. The republican playbook against Hillary has trust and honest issues as the centerpiece of their case against the repeat of the Clintons.

After seven years of someone who lied and people died (and are still dying) it's imperative we have a President who will be honest and people can trust.
Barack Obama rates very high on these points. Hillary Clinton, is Hillary Clinton.
When 48% of people in your OWN PARTY think you are dishonest, it's time to turn it in.
Obama 08.

This is getting out of control. The Clinton's ridiculous personal attacks have obviously resonated with her mostly closed minded supporters. I feel that many Obama supporters realize that their policies are quite similar, and far superior to McCain's, but think that Obama has a more positive and dynamic outlook. Clinton supporters are willing the throw the party under the bus. I am so disappointed.

dsw   March 11th, 2008 8:52 pm ET

Clinton only cares about winning by any means nessesary, any democrat should be bothered when she would rather endorse the republican candidate than her Democratic opponent, she has no grace.

What the Clinton campaign is saying makes NO sense at all. How can you be LOSING the race and say “oh I think you should be VP…”news flash YOU’RE LOSING! Secondly why would the Clinton campaign even want Obama as a VP…a VP will take the president’s spot if something was to happen, so that person would need to be able to run the country incase of emergency. If Obama, according to the Clinton campaign, can’t be Commander in Chief, why would they think it is ok for him to be the alternate for the Commander in Chief position—Hypocritical. I am 16 and have been watching the race very closely. Its not rocket science…OBAMA 08! The sooner the majority of America realizes that, the better!

Nate from Mpls   March 11th, 2008 8:53 pm ET

You know, I've said it before and I'll say it again. I like Hillary for some reason. I don't even follow politics. I don't care about scandals and what candidates did years ago and how they viewed things. Honestly, comparing the websites for Obama and HIllary, they have the same views on almost all issues. If Obama wins, great, if Hillary wins, great. All we need is someone to win against insane McCain

Will, CA   March 11th, 2008 8:53 pm ET

It is funny how CNN is pumping up the race. Mississippi is one of the most racist states in our nation. The results from polls should not even matter.

Whites are not going to give the thoughts of black voters the time of day. Blacks are not going to give the thoughts of white voters the time of day.

So what did we really learn from Mississippi? Some states have a long way to go.

Jen   March 11th, 2008 8:53 pm ET

In response to Gerri Ferraro. She knows exactly what she's doing and they definitely released all this at this time to attract the white voters who hate a black man is leading this campaign.

Pennsylvania has a large white blue collar "southern" type mentality and may identify with now Ferraro playing the "victim"

HIllary is shrewd and brilliant and it may work. After all isn't this what Hitler did to the whites against the Jews. Hillary is very, very dangerous!

It is truely amazing to me how many people blindly vote. I am an African American, and I am tired of my people verbally attacking me because I support Hilliary. Obama is not my canidate, but I do respect the fact that people have the right to vote for him. Why can't I have the right to vote for Hilliary without comment from other African Americans? I don't berate people for voting for him, even when they tell me they voted for him because he is black.

Honesty means releasing tax returns. It means releasing your documents that support your so-called experience. It means releasing your foundation records. It means releasing your earmark records. It means telling the truth about your support for NAFTA. It means telling the truth about your lack of judgment: If Barack lacks experience, why are you and Bill suggesting a VP position? And what makes him ready by August for the convention. Honesty means not tearing the party apart for your own selfish gain. Honesty mean acting like a civil servant. Honesty, Hillary, honesty. Do you have it? I think not.

jay   March 11th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Obama is just like any other politician. Look at his dealings in Chicago. I'm an African American and if he is elected President of these here United States, it will be very shocking. I don't even think he's ready for the job, not even for VP. He's not honest and you will see if he wins the primary. I will say this, we're in trouble if either he or McCain win the position. I also think men in this world still think women aren't good enough to lead them.

If it wasn't for you mothers, it wouldn't be any men and if it wasn't for men, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Go Hillary!

True Democrat   March 11th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Joanna, quit posting the same message under every header. Obama leads in delegates by more than 125 now… and he leads the popular vote by more than 600,000 votes.

Hillary has no chance and should exit the race now to avoid dragging the party into a brokered convention in Denver.

Gerald F.   March 11th, 2008 9:00 pm ET

Seems a lot of he-in and she-in has been going on since this election business started. He wins she works harder. She wins-he panics harder. As a Canadian observing this election, I have seen in all the articles read that with Senator Clinton you get what you get. But Senator Obama carries a sense of too many things not said or hidden. A potentially good man in the making. But he does come across still very much a young green (no I am not slurring his skin color)politician who needs more seasoning.

Monique   March 11th, 2008 9:02 pm ET

I am watching the Primaries right now and I can not see how CNN can prohject a winnerright now - Exit Polls aren't exact. Hillary 52% Obama 46%

Linda of Atlanta   March 11th, 2008 9:06 pm ET

If the Hillary Clinton campaign had not sought to polarize this contest based on race, the media would have anyway. There must be something in the water that drives the white media to spin race. Nothing seems to make you happier, especially when it allows you to minimize a Black candidate's credentials and accomplishments.
I don't care what the Clinton campaign says about the big states. She is acting as though she was running as a republican in those states. The argument is bogus and nobody would be reporting on it if Obama was behind in delegates and advancing it.

Ed Gibbs   March 11th, 2008 9:07 pm ET

Why is the name of this article "Obama viewed as more honest"? 9 out of ten Hillary supporters say Obama is not trustworthy and only 7 in 10 Obama supporters say that Hillary is not trustworthy. This was the last of the Obama-friendly states. Let's see what the polls say in the future.

How many things has this arrogant Junior Senator lied about in the past few weeks. He has said 5 different things about the NAFTA meeting with Canada (did they meet, did they not meet—in the end he admitted that they did). And what about Tony Rezko…. Obama has only been in public office for 3 years and he is already consorting with known criminals.

AH! "Race" this, "race" that–driving me nuts! RACE ASIDE… I agree that Obama appears to be more honest; and frankly, if I had to invite one of them to dinner, it would be him. That being said, this is not the time to gamble! Give Obama a little more experience, and put him on the ticket in 8 years! Right now, we desperately need a president who knows how to run a country. This is a very dangerous time for rookie mistakes! Clinton has experience and in my mind comes with a "guarantee." Clinton '08.

Ashley   March 11th, 2008 9:10 pm ET

honest and trustworthy? Based on what exactly?
This is the exact reason why I am not voting for the man. He says everything a person wants to hear and promises the moon. All I can say if the man gets in office he best do "everything" he said he's going to do on every one of those issues.
States are suffering and looking for change and someone that really cares, not blind promises. I'm so worried where this all is leading and the issues that are important and the people will keep suffereing

BTW, I just heard on CNN that California won't vote for anyone but a democrat. I disagree.

sam   March 11th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

offcourse, all blacks from MS will say Obama is more honest. What happened to that NAFTA issue?
Obama won MS only becuase of his color of skin. Anyone can figure this out. CNN is not talking about this reason for him to win. All so called expert team of CNN are in love with Obama due to their personal anticlinton ideas. Shame…..

Patricia H - Las Vegas   March 11th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

Gee what a novel concept, voting for someone because they are honest! If more people did that, then Hillary Clinton would have been out of the running ages ago because honest is one thing she is not! People take your blinders off and vote for the candidate with integrity, Barack Obama. And as for all this race nonsense, do I need to go out and buy an "old white lady for Obama" … not all white over 55 females are blindly voting for that woman candidate and for good reason, we don't trust her as far as we could throw her.

simmy   March 11th, 2008 9:11 pm ET

it dones'nt take all 50 IQ of the Clinto supporters to figure that out!! lol!

Another point too is back in the 90is Bill Clinton was our Knight in shining armor and now we've found our new knight Obama…he is loved just like Clinton was back then(did i mention they'r both Leos, must be that august charm) anyway make way Clinto, we'v found our new knight!! :)

When it comes to honesty, they are politicians and that means dishonesty. They will both attempt, at the very least, to make their mistakes and bad choices look less bad. At the worst, they will outright lie about them.

As to who has been more honest, I think Senator Obama has been more forthright and honest when he speaks. I believe she is significantly more dishonest in her dealings with the voters than he is, though I don't think, by any means, that he is totally pure and innocent either.

It doesn't surprise me that Obama suppporters see Hillary as more trustworthy than Clinton supportes do Obama. Obama supporters are younger (19-29) and don't quite remember the bad old days of the Clinton administration when there was a new scandal every other week. Voters: PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH!! The folks who support Clinton are older, loyal to the establishment and much more jaded. They do not trust this young upstart are angry about it (see Geraldine Ferraro comments)and feel this presidency was Hllary's payback for having to put up with her philandering husband. Young folks out there don't realize the miracle they're performing. Chalengeing the old political machine and changing how things will be conducted in the future. WOW!!

AJ, IL   March 11th, 2008 9:17 pm ET

Of course Hillary-supporters tend to think of Obama in a more negative light. When Hillary and her campaign surrogates talk about Obama in a negative tone, the more uneducated her supporters are the more likely they are to believe her and her surrogates. Obama has focused more on solutions for America than Hillary has. Hillary is constantly attackly Obama because he is the front runner. Go to Hillary Clinton's website and compare it to Barack Obama's website. You will easily see a lot more negative attacks against Obama versus Obama vastly more positive campaign website. Check it out for yourself!

tomdavie   March 11th, 2008 9:18 pm ET

Let me get this straight.

You guys tap dance a whole pile of 'data' when you can MILK it for Obama.

You got 90% of black folks voting for Obama, and use this as PROOF he is more honest, more appeal to OLDER blah blah blah

How about the fact he simply gets 90% of the black vote. Like he has got ALL ALONG.

They are all going to say he is the best leader, most honest blah blah.

You cant tapdance 'stats' when you have a GLARING racist vote staring you in the face.

It overrides everything.

Michelle, Indiana   March 11th, 2008 9:18 pm ET

How can you view Clinton as anything but DISHONEST? She has proven her deceitfulness time and time again. Her husband was IMPEACHED for PERJURY. Since she stayed with him after his philandering was publicly announced, she must be ok with his being a liar which means she's one too.

He would have won California if given enough time. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to express my views.

Largeman   March 11th, 2008 9:20 pm ET

Joanna, It is easy to find out about the vote count. Hilary only wins most big states by a small to slim margin. Obama wins a few big states, most medium and small states by an average of 20 to 30 percent. Obama now lead by almost a few hundred thousand votes nationwide. Simple math. Even with Florida and Michigan, he'd be up by over 90 thousand.

This is funny; you say Obama is not honest, ask Clinton to show her finances! You say his is not honest, show, please post a link to a website, a video that caught him lying, (that contain details he hasnt talked about) or even this finances. On thing is to play politics and another is to have followers that are willing to say "Hillary or nothing". Sad, really sad. Think about this: If Obama is so dishonest, why does Clinton says she would like to have him as her VP?

She is telling me there is something good about this man, she is telling me there is honestly in this man's character, there is hope, there is talent, there is potential. If she, who has critized him, who has made a soapopera out of this election (Shame on You Barack Obama), believes He should be her VP, then I, as a faithful democrat, who once considered voting for her, believe he should not get second places; I am voting for the man Hillary believes should be the president; Barack Obama.

catmom   March 11th, 2008 9:27 pm ET

Obama is considered more honest because there has been a concerted effort to destroy Hillary Clinton. Things she says are generally misinterpreted and/or taken out of context. Rumors and lies from years ago that have been investigated to a tune of 80 million of our tax dollars are constantly being thrown up as being fact when they are not. People are allowed to say the most awful things about Mrs. Clinton, Bill and even Chelsea. All the while Obama is portrayed as Mr. Perfect, can do no wrong, even God like. If you repeat something long enough people will begin to believe it.

Obama is more honest and Hillary appears to be more dishonest. Her supporters are especially bitter I suppose because birds of a feather flock together. But little chickies, watch that you don't get pushed out of the nest prematurely because she needs more room for her self-serving agenda.

New York for Obama   March 11th, 2008 9:30 pm ET

The very nature of politics in the US centers on personalities rather than on issues. Ever since JFK won, the technology of media perpetuates this. That being said, it's also amazing how ephemeral the memories of Americans are. Anyone remember Bill Clinton's Monica media moment? Remember his never having inhaled media moment? This is the same white house and household from whence came Hillary.
If she was unable to manage her personal relationship with a president proved to be dishonest, what makes anyone think she can really manage this whole country; especially with a dishonest advisor in her bedroom. When that call comes at 3AM, I want a president without familial distractions and history of dishonest baggage answering that call. That president would have to be Obama.

My cousin is currently working for the McCain campaign in a Northen State (lets not mention it!) ; he asked me this past Saturday night who I was voting for. I said I was voting for Obama (he knows I was voting for Clinton before) and he said "NO!!! you have to vote for Clinton!" When I asked why, he said "Because it will be easier for Mc Cain to win the election!"

I asked him "what would happened if Obama wins". Then he said "Well, we'll be screwed!" There you have it, direct from the Mc Cain campaign.

catmom   March 11th, 2008 9:34 pm ET

Again, as I have been asking, what personal attacks has Hillary made against Obama? She has questioned his experience, his record and his plans for the country. Is that not what you are supposed to do? It is after all a campaign. I don't understand what it is people are expecting of her. It's almost as if Obama supporters just want him to have a free ride. He isn't supposed to have to explain anything???

If one were to seriously consider the mudslinging and half-truths emanating from the Clinton camp, I think it speaks measures about the integrity of the Clinton campaign. Hillary Clinton has compromised her integrity as a human being to win the Democratic nomination by any means necessary. Her campaign tactics underscore why business as usual in Washington must cease to exist.

Mrs. Clinton's lack of experience is illustrated by the division she and her cohorts can be credited with due to her campaign tactics. Clinton spokesperson Geraldine Ferraro recently publicly declared that Sen. Obama was in the position he currently finds himself in because he is black. Did she forget that he is also white? In this day and age, and after all of the growing pains this country has been through concerning race issues, why should race be an issue? Clinton has not to date called for Ferraro's resignation from her campaign. That is very telling.

Obama is honest?

Google: Tony Rezko, sweetheart deal Obama, Illinois corruption, Obama Iraq tie, Obama political position, Chicago way politician.

If Obama is honest, then there is no liar in the world!

Obama supporters….since when has he become honest??? Wait till the press decides he's not their "fair haired" boy and start bringing out the dirt. He'll have Nasty Michelle go out and defend him. He's a wimp and not to be trusted.
