Damon, Affleck team up for Obama

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are teaming up for a new project, but this one probably won't lead to an Oscar.

The two actors are part of a new effort from MoveOn.org to create a television ad in support of Barack Obama's bid for the White House. The liberal group, which endorsed the Illinois senator last month, is asking its 3.2 million members to create a 30 second campaign commercial that "shows what inspires them about the senator's candidacy."

Damon and Affleck, along with film director Oliver Stone and singer John Legend, are among the panel of judges.

"After eight years of President Bush campaigning on fear and war, people are feeling hopeful again. They're eager to talk about what inspires them about our country - and Senator Obama leading it,” Eli Pariser, Executive Director of MoveOn said. “Since creative and grassroots energy has helped power Barack Obama’s campaign from the start, this contest is a great way to deliver that message of hope to voters in Pennsylvania and across the nation.”

In a statement, Affleck said the competition is "a chance for everyone, from aspiring filmmakers to armchair pundits, to raise their voices to put Obama over the top."

MoveOn says it will announce the winner before the crucial Pennsylvania primary which takes place early in April. It says the winning ad will air on national television but has not yet decided when. The winner will also win a gift certificate for $20,000 in video equipment.

The group held a similar competition in 2004, asking members then to create a "Bush in 30 Seconds" campaign ad. The organization received 1,500 entries in that contest.

I'm tired of all of these peolple saying that is their democratic candidate loses, then they will not vote or vote for McCain. If you do that, don't you people ever call yourselves democrats again. McCain is against almost everything both of the democratic candidates are for and you will go to him simply because you choose to throw a hissy fit.

Your all a digrace to all democrats.

DL said sarcastically in a previous post. WOW Obama is really bringing in the brain trust with Damon and Afleck. Actually DL, sarcasm aside. Matt Damon is a very brainy guy. He earned straight A grades in school and was pre med at Harvard. Do a little research before you fall on your face like the Clinton supporters have been doing all week.

    To Cheryl:

To answer your question......If the MONSTER wins Pennsylvania

She will still be behind in the popular vote.

She will still be behind in delegates.

She will still be behind with the most states won.

Kudos to Damon and Affleck for showing support. Hopefully they'll be respectful and able to deliver a message that Obama's message can influence anyone.

Cheryl? Please stop making a conplete fool of yourself.

You don't win a nomination from one State. Even if Hillary wins PA, she will still be behind in delagates.

Winning is in a close race is about pulling in everyone you can, so Damon & Affleck just add more wins to the Obama side.

    An endorsement is an endorsement.

To answer the above: If Hillary wins Pennsylvania.. sadly not much will change. Even if she wins it 55-45 Barack Obama will still maintain a 100+ delegate lead over Hillary.

Pretty good for someone who has "no facts or figures" and is "just ideas" with "no explanations".

This is not a bid for the next Blockbuster Movie in Hollywood. This is the Presidency of the United States (Much More Powerful and Distinguished Honor and Privilege). I hope Obama is not toasting to this one. I am noticing yet again this pattern from CNN to overplay every endorsement received by Obama. Hillary has her endorsements but these news networks refuse to acknowledge them the way they do the Obama endorsements. Then they sit back and wonder why Senator Clinton asked the questions and made the statements about the Media Bias. Give me a break. This is becoming a real elementary type strategy by these networks in support of Obama. I have said it before and just like the first time I am sure this one will not get posted either but I am going to say it again: These networks need to stop supporting Obama simply because he is black and they are afraid of what the organizations such as NAACP will say if they challenge this man. I am a black man myself but give me a break, He is not the answer to America's problems. America needs to stand and challenge this man and ask two very important questions: Who is Barack Obama? and Will the Real Barack Obama please stand up? We have seen nothing of substance here that would support the notion of this man being the President of the most powerful nation in the world and I repeat THE WORLD!!!

PLEASE AMERICA DON'T MAKE THIS AWEFUL MISTAKE. YOU ALL NEED TO HAVE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THIS MAN. I DO.

That is going to be a waste of money in vane because everybody knows that Clinton is more prepared and committed to the people of USA. She will win Pennsylvania.

Wow. More negativity. Is this even about America anymore for you guys?

Can we simply just say, "Hey, the fact that people [Damon, Affleck, and America] are so energized is good for America."?

Why is there so much negativity from Clinton supporters about everything?... (sigh) My gosh.

I guess it's true. The attitude of the people is a reflection of their "leadership".

Goodness. "Can we all just get along?". My gosh.

    Cheryl,

So what if hillary monster "George Wallace" clinton wins Pennsylvania. Winning a primary doesn't portend to a win in the General election. All you hillary monster "George Wallace" clinton supporters have been utterly duped into believing that for some reason hillary monster "George Wallace" clinton will win the general because she won "big" states. That is just patently false. I understand that you people have an utter inability to understand facts but I can't understand why you people blindly follow that racist hillary monster "George Wallace" clinton.

Has everybody realized the pattern – in contrast to Hillary Clinton those who have endorsed Barack Obama are all smart and genuine people.

The Blogs show more about the level of intelligence and thinking process of the individuals own blog than the content i.e. very little intelligent analysis of the Candidates.

What an interesting idea. I don't really think it will translate into many votes . . . but a cute idea. Now, if they did a documentary on Hillary's failure to release her tax return . . . THAT would be interesting.

Good timing Ben. Obama is going to get crushed in Pennsylvania. Hard to believe considering he's so popular with moveon.org. It's too bad Pennsylvania is not a caucus. Obama seems to do better when there is disorganization and not everyone shows up to vote. I'm surprised you won't be in Japan watching the A's beat up on the Red Sox. Go Hillary!
